We laughed when Gloria Arroyo said that God was talking to her. Laugh some more with the latest tale of the Arroyo brothers, Mike and Iggy.
Dispatches from Rome, where the Arroyos are having the time of their life together with more than 50 government officials and their wives on Filipino taxpayers money, said Mike and Iggy are claiming to be relatives of St. Theresa of Avila and that two more relatives are up for beatification.
Mike Arroyo said St. Theresa had a direct lineage to the Tuason and Arroyo clan of Avila, Spain where their ancestors came. So, he said, they are relatives. Oo, sige na nga.
Iggy, on the other hand, said there will be two more saints from their family: Their great grand-aunt, Mother Rosario from Molo, Iloilo, who founded the Dominican Sisters of the Most Holy Rosary, and their grand-aunt, Maria Teresa.
To prove their claim, the office of Mike Arroyo has prepared a documentation on the life of Maria Beatriz del Rosario Arroyo (born 1884), who is known in Iloilo as Mother Sayong. Maria Teresa, Iggy said, is the sister of his grandfather Jose Ma. Arroyo and daughter of Maria Pidal.
“We already have a saint, St. Theresa of Avila…Mababait kami,” said the man who used the name of his granduncle, Jose Pidal, to open a bank account for his brother’s unexplained wealth.
Here comes now Sister Maria Veneranda Mission, secretary general of the Dominican sisters of the Most Holy Rosary in Molo, Iloilo who clarified that Mother Sayong is still far from beatification as they have not finished gathering evidence and have not yet filed a petition before the Archdiocese of Iloilo.
To say that the two Arroyo relatives are up for beatification is not quite accurate.
Iggy Arroyo was quoted to have attributed his sister-in-law’s political survival after the Hello Garci tapes to the intercession of St. Teresa, their relative. He was also quoted to have said: “One of the reasons why the President is still there because I think God really wants her to be there.”
Oh yeah?
The Arroyo brothers could go into comedy as a career when the people’s wrath catches up with them and they are driven out of power.

Evidently these Arroyo clowns are peacocking in Rome with the illusion that their colors are resplendent, oblivious of the fact thattheir colors are black and murky like the Pasig river. The mere fact that they claim affinity to wannabe saints is a puerile attempt whitewash their personalities. In reality these two clowns resemble what the good book says as sepulchres: white on the outside but full of rotting flesh inside.
The truth is the Bansot and her minions must be pissing in their pants, and this talk about some sainthood is in fact an antidote and/or a gimmick to intimidate Filipinos into believing that the Bansot and her husband are as infallible as the Pope!
I actually wrote about this in some egroup and blog about the Bansot short of claiming that she or her husband must have been descended from Jesus Christ like those Frenchmen said to be children of Mary Magdalene and Jesus Christ kaya lang natakot din na baka tamaan na siya ng kidlat!
So, they settled with the idea of making two of the Arroyo women,who became nuns, saints, and connecting them by blood with the St. Theresa of Avila. But as usual, the Bansot may change her mind again, and finally declare her own self as holy and almighty as God! That will surely be the day!
This reminds me of a corpse found intact during a flood in Leyte about 5 or 6 years ago. It has in fact been worshipped by the villagers in the place where he lived. They are Catholics no doubt, but there has not been any move to declare him a saint the way Iggy and his family want his great grand-aunt be made a saint because her body when exhumed was allegedly found intact like some well-preserved mummies!

Well, well, how about my grandma “naykika”. She deserved to be beatified as any of the Arroyo’s kin. She was my Grandma, who passed away when I was a teenager. She had done nobody wrong in her lifetime. Had produced hundreds of ‘naykikas’ inhabiting the four corners of the world and so far not a single one of them (as far as I knew) been accused of corruption yet. And she was poor as poor as most Saints were in their time. There is a problem though, I can not afford to even fly to Rome, lest have an audience with the Pope to Present my case and no gift to bring His Holy See. But I believe my Dear Grandama ‘naykika’ would rather be at peace as would the Arroyo’s kins…

PROTESTS IN ROME GREET GMA, CONDEMN KILLINGS
Italian, Filipino and other migrant activists greeted Gloria Macapagal Arroyo when she arrived yesterday (June 25) at the Grand Hotel in Rome, Italy where she is staying during her visit to Italy.
The activists carried large streamers calling for the ouster of GMA, a stop to the political killings and to stop milking overseas Filipino workers. They also shouted the same slogans within hearing distance when GMA was about to enter the hotel.
Earlier, according to the Filipino activists, they were misled by Philippine embassy officials in Rome about the exact hotel where GMA would be staying, but that sympathetic media persons gave them the exact information. They were able to position themselves several minutes before GMA arrived. Organizers said GMA and her entourage were visibly surprised. Several Italian and Filipino media agencies were also present to cover GMA’s arrival and the protest.
Although the picketers did not secure a permit, they were able to hold the protest for several minutes before the Italian police arrived and threatened to bring the leaders of the group to the police station. But the picketers stood their ground and asserted their right to peaceful assembly, explaining to the Italian police that Italy is not governed by a fascist government such as that of GMA. The picket ended peacefully.
Earlier, Filipino migrant organizations in Rome and Milan organized discussion groups and fora among Filipinos and Italians to discuss the killings of political activists in the Philippines, the GMA regime’s corruption and other fascist and anti-people acts.
In Milan, Filipino groups distributed information materials on the killings and held prayer vigils. Elsewhere, Filipinos and their European friends in the Netherlands, Belgium, the UK, Switzerland and Norway have been organizing and mobilizing people for the campaign to stop the political killings in the Philippines. ###

Your information is much better. Greggy, I know, got the Spanish features from the Araneta, but the Arroyo with the Tuason link I think is more Chinese than either Spanish or native Ilongos. Ang hilig pang mag-link kuno to the royalties in Spain.
I remember reading in Ellen’s column about those royal crests being displayed at Malacanang to really give the Bansot the aura of nobility. Hindi naman bagay! Gaya ng sabi ninyo ang putik kahit balutan mo ng ginto ay putik pa rin, and vice versa. Ito namang mga Arroyong descendant noong ponga ay nababalutan naman ng taba na pamprito sa kanila in the nearest future!

They assail the illegitimacy of the GMA regime due to electoral fraud, graft and corruption, repression and the sell-out of the national patrimony. They decry her regime as responsible for the killings of more than 600 innocent, unarmed civilians and that her regime does not distinguish between combatants and civilians, as the killings continue. They accuse GMA and her coterie of fascist advisers and generals for violating the Geneva Conventions, for engaging in state terrorism and for committing crimes against humanity.
GMA’s European sojourn is obviously public relations stint to mitigate increasing international condemnation of her regime’s terrorism and crimes against the Filipino people. She systematically propagandized before the European public her supposed disavowal of the death penalty by abolishing it, even using her Vatican visit and the Pope, to trumpet her hypocrisy and conceal her terrorist policies. While she opportunistically signed the law abolishing the death penalty law, she has further encouraged extra-judicial killings by declaring the worn-out “all-out war” line against the revolutionary forces and her critics.
But the European people and an increasing number of concerned migrant Filipinos are not allowing themselves to be deceived. Last June 25, GMA and her fascist coterie were surprised to find Italian and Filipino protesters who picketed as she entered her luxurious hotel that was paid for by Filipino taxpayers. They shouted ‘Oust GMA”, “stop the killings”, and “stop milking OFWs”. In Milan, a picket went through, notwithstanding the cancellation of her trip in that city. Last week, opposition Senator Jamby Madrigal filed a case before the reconstituted UN Council on Human Rights to expose GMA’s crimes against humanity. This move was given further boost with the arrival of Bayan Muna president Congressman Satur Ocampo who met with the UN UNCHR Special Rapporteur, the IPU (Inter Parliamentary Union), Swiss members of parliament, human rights organizations and NGOs. It was also announced that Swiss MP Liliane Maury Pasquier filed a resolution raising the issue of human rights in the Philippines at the Swiss Parliament signed by 24 other MPs. A coalition of concerned Filipinos in Geneva held a well-attended forum with Sen. Madrigal as one of the speakers.
In the Netherlands, concerned Filipinos formed themselves into a coalition to campaign against the killings and to call for GMA’s ouster. They had an audience with Senator Madrigal when she visited the Netherlands after Geneva.
In Belgium, Norway, the UK, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Denmark, Filipinos have launched a campaign to expose the crimes of GMA’s fascist regime. Many progressive groups and members of Parliament in these countries have raised questions in their Parliaments regarding the killings of civilians by GMA’s death squads, the continued detention of Anakpawis Congressman Crispin Beltran, the continued suppression of civil liberties and the state of undeclared martial law in the Philippines.
GMA’s public relations blitzkrieg will not succeed in its bid to conceal and prettify before the European public their “final solution” that has victimized countless victims.
The determination of patriotic and democratic Filipinos in the Philippines and overseas, and their foreign friends in Europe, the US, Asia-Pacific, and other parts of the world to fight and oust this illegitimate, corrupt, fascist and genocidal regime, will thwart the GMA regime’s terrorism and war against the Filipino people.
We call on progressive politicians and political parties to lobby within their Parliaments and governments to withdraw aid and political support to the GMA regime. We also urge them to call for the withdrawal of the terrorist listing that has been encouraging the killings of innocent civilians in the Philippines.

I really hate these people who post here with the attempt to undermine what we are trying to do here, and not understand that this is citizenry in action and not what their boss tells them is destabilization because she thinks that it is her prerogative to sit there and tell Filipinos to let her control their lives no matter what the consequence may be.

As long as Bansot is the President, expect the educational system to deteriorate further. She’s disposing all the “good guys” at the Dept. of Education whose mission is to reform the educational system. Former Usec Mike Luz reform program just vanished from the air. Iyan naman ang gusto ni Bansot na hindi matuto ang mga kabataan. Dahil kung kapakanan ng mga bata ang kanyang nasa-isip ay popondohan niya ng todo ang pangangailangan sa mga classrooms at mga aklat.

The World Bank has approved another $200M loan for upgrading our education system. This vicious cycle of borrowing has to stop. Time will come that we will not be able repay our debts.
The problem is correct fund management. Ex. A company borrows money for expansion, if you are a prudent businessman, you would definitely make sure you use it on something productive. In simpler terms, this expansion must be able to pay off the loan. Ang nangyayari satin ay umuutang tayo para ibayad sa ibang utang. Kaya di maubos-ubos ang utang natin dahil sa maling fund management ng ating pamahalaan.

What has become of the Masinloc Case in the Lower House? Could this be another ground for impeachment and would the Privitization Commission be answerable to the Ombudsman? I saw the replay of Dong Puno’s View Point where the subject of discussion was the 2nd impeachment. We must take into consideration that the pre-war Japan was highly industrialized. It was easy for them to get back on track. The Phil. on the otherhand has been under colonial rule and does not really enjoy equal status with our colonializers. Major industries were run by foreigners and mestizos whose lineage is from Spain. Unfortunately, war reparations were not wisely used by the succeeding leaders. While our Asian neighbors tried in earnest to develop, we however were content to being America’s little brother. While our neighbors busied themselves with economic and social advances, we went back to colonial practice like the cacique system which definitely espoused social classes.
Had the post-war governments developed our national heritage and foundations, we could still be the leading country in Asia.

Sure Japan has the know-how having been industrialized long before any of its Asian neighbors that were all under foreign rule before WWII had ventured into it, but I don’t think it was merely because of that that Japan has come this far. It is more because Japan has developed ahead of anybody some code that most Japanese even now abide by, and that is the Bushido code of honor, dignity and discipline.
And God must have been really kind to these people who must have known Him better than the fake Christians in the Philippines, for they indeed abide by the Second Commandment of “Love thy neighbor as thyself,” for which God has indeed blessed this country with good leaders.
Ellen is right when she replied to someone that what the Philippines needs is a sincere leader who has first and foremost the welfare of the people in his mind rather than his own personal vested interests, glory and fame the way we see the criminally inclined does.
I may be against Koizumi’s policy regarding Iraq for example, but I cannot entirely accuse the man of incompetence for all the efforts that he has done to keep our economy floating and ordinary citizens like yours truly happy and contented. He definitely comes braggish as is typical of those who have been educated in the USA we call “batakusai” but not as corrupt as the criminally inclined the Filipinos are being saddled with at present.
Regrettably, he is leaving his office sans the honor and gratitude that he could have been poured with had he been wiser about his decision on Iraq.
One difference between the Japanese and the Filipinos is that not everyone here would like to be a Prime Minister because of the greatness of the burden of responsibility for being one with Japan not being a 3rd world country but a member of the powerful leaders of the international community, and one mistake can lead to the ruin of many. There is definitely no room for irresponsibility, and so, most of us here would rather just follow and see what the more courageous ones are apt to and can do.
Greed may be there for I don’t suppose the Japanese are immune to diabolical temptations, but it is definitely under control!
Now, with regards to Japanese aids to the Philippines, I must admit that it is being done for a reason more beneficial to Japan than to the Philippines. Talk of what we call “Honne to tatemae.” What they say with their mouth here is not exactly what is in their head!
So, don’t ever think that Japan is being privy to the swindling of the Filipinos by the Bansot regarding the 80M dollars being granted to the Philippines. I have a suspicion in fact that it has something to do with the plan to transfer the bulk of US forces in Okinawa to Mindanao. Of course, Japan understands that without Japanese money, the bases there cannot be built because the Philippine treasury is definitely ransacked!
Our officials are aware of the graft and corruption in the Philippines, but they are willing to gamble rather than face the wrath of the Japanese people who are strongly demanding for the removal of US military installations in Japan. Now it is up to you guys to tell them what the Filipinos really want!
