Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye is annoyed that Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Oscar Cruz does not buy his propaganda that Pope Benedict XVI praised what Gloria Arroyo is doing.
If it’s true the Pope said, “Well done”, he could have been referring to the abolition of the death penalty and not to her lying, cheating, and condoning of killings of persons opposing her administration because he is aware of the “Hello Garci” tapes issue, Cruz said.
Bunye, of “I-have-two- discs” fame, speaking to media in Madrid, where Arroyo’s 55-member group including wives of junketing officials proceeded from Rome, said, “Archbishop Cruz is not the spokesperson of the Holy See and he must not twist the words of the Holy Father, whose prime concerns are the plight of the poor and the full engagement of the Church in the spiritual realm, not in partisan politics.”

This is one of the press statements Bunye’s office released on the meeting of Arroyo with the Pope:
“During her (Arroyo) 20-minute meeting with the Pope at the Papal Library in the Vatican, she found the Pontiff very encouraging in his support for the solution of the problems of the Philippines, particularly poverty, terrorism and partisanship.
“She said that Pope Benedict XVl was well-informed about events unfolding in the Philippines, including her campaign to abolish the death penalty and improve the lives of Filipinos through the government’s sustained efforts to address poverty.
“‘He is keenly interested in the Philippines and is up-to-date on developments in the country. He is happy that peace will finally dawn on Mindanao,’ the President said.
“She added that she discussed with the Pope various problems besetting the Philippines, including politics, the campaign against terrorists, the decades-old secessionist movement in Mindanao, and found him supportive of the tough reforms she has instituted.”
Here’s another one from Bunye:
“President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s visit to the Vatican has rekindled the Philippines’ key role in the Roman Catholic world.
“The Philippines has been morally and spiritually rearmed following her audience with the Pope. This bodes well for the theme of peace, unity and prosperity that pervades the President’s trip.
“The administration’s pro-poor agenda receives solid inspiration and guidance from the Holy Father’s blessings.”
What was the Pope’s spokesman version of the meeting? Here’s the statement from the Vatican’s website:
“Vatican City, June 26, 2006 (Vis) – This morning, Holy See Press Office Director Joaquin Navarro-Valls released the following declaration concerning the audience granted today by Benedict XVI to Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, president of the Republic of the Philippines, in the company of her family and an entourage:
“In the course of the cordial meeting, the president explained to the Holy Father the new law banning the death penalty, which was signed last Saturday, Feast of St. John the Baptist.
“Mrs. Macapagal Arroyo also showed the Pope a plan for reforming the Constitution, which aims at a more harmonious development of the country, reserving greater attention to the poorer sectors of the population.
“During the meeting, reference was also made to the favorable prospects for dialogue with the Muslim inhabitants of the country and to the hope for national pacification.
“Finally the president noted how Christian values, in which the majority of Filipinos identify themselves, also find expression and support in the legislation of the State.”
Where in the statement did it say that the Pope is supportive of or is encouraging what Arroyo is doing other than the abolition of the death penalty law?
We all know how Malacañang’s propaganda machine dishes out daily lies but it is most blatant during foreign trips. Perhaps to justify the millions of pesos spent for those trips. Or perhaps they think that since most of the meetings are not open for coverage, they can lie and the public would have no way of finding out.
Bunye forgets that with modern technology, it is easier to find out what’s actually happening. Besides, truth has a way of coming out. Not immediately probably, but at the proper time.

Actually ang majority sa mga Filipino ay nagkakaisa, si gloria lamang at mga alipores niya ang hindi kaisa. Mr. Toting Bunyeta (pangit naman ng pangalan nito), hindi kami tanga, at lalong hindi kami pinanganak kahapon. The Catholic Pope should issue a statement on this. His representatives in the Philippines should urge him to do so lest they lose another thousands of their members to other groups like INC, El Shaddai and yes, even to our church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints although what we want in our church are real seekers of God, not disgruntled members of other faith.

Guys!!!, guys!!! you really never learn from experience, its not worth it to contradict the statement of the leprechaun and her goons, itw nowhere to be found in her and her goons the truth. Just this morning before I left the house for work, it is being shown in TFC the conversation between Anthony Taberna, one of Magandang Umaga Pilipinas show “vocal” host, Bishop Cruz of Lingayen, Panggasinan, and the “Horrorable” Tonggressman Pichay. The issue was about the filing of Bishop Iniguez of Caloocan, of another impeachment complaint. GLORIA’s “alipores” are saying that the good bishop from Caloocan was “violating” the constitutional provision about the “separation of church and state”. A point was raised by Bishop Cruz, that why when GLORIA was being “propelled” to the presidency during EDSA 2, she and her “co-horts” were not citing this “CONSTITUTIONAL PROVISION”, when it was even the late Cardinal Sin who was one if not the “leading” supporter of the “then” vice-president. all that Pichay could answer was…Oh, let’s not talk about the EDSA 2 anymore…”. Now, here comes Bunye with the “press release” trying to “portrait” how GLORIA seemingly “presenting” to the Pontiff her government’s economic and political policies and plans, and that it was 101% “applauded” by the Pope(he was just short of saying that Benedict XVI is also a “palakpak boy”). Now, this “GROUP” is really confusing, on one side they’re really saying…”hey church, stop meddling”…on another, they brought a “plane-load” of “ASS-KISSERS” all the way to Rome to “solicit” the POPE’s SUPPORT (where would they get the money for expenses of this “European Field Trip). Sorry mga kababayan, until this present administration is really CHANGED or TAKEN-OUT on the MAP of PHILIPPINE POLITICS, our beloved country would surely be as dry as the “DRIFTWOODS” used for cultivating orchids.

Of course, the Vatican will believe in the CBCP, and if the Vatican believes in the CBCP, I’m giving a warning to the Vatican and all the Bishops, because siRAULo Gonzales will condemn them and labeled them destabilizers and will file a case against them, hehehehehehehehehe……. Isa lang naman ang ibig sabihin ng ginagawa ni Bunye and Bansot—harrassment and intimidation of the priests and nuns, or representatives of the Pope in the Philippines whom they can no longer manipulate and spin.
Bakit hindi nila ipatawag ang mga iyan sa simbahan and excommunicate them for maligning the Catholic Church? They definitely need to be censured!
A bishop or archbishop (I’m not sure who but it was mentioned in the newspapers) was invited to be part of the Arroyo presidential delegation. Pang-deodorant probably. But the bishop had the good sense of not allowing himself to be used.
Let’s see what happens in the July 8 meeting of the CBCP.
Gloria Arroyo and Bunye make a big deal about the Pope giving her Deus Caritas Est as if she was the blessed one. Msgr Pedro Quitorio implied that it is not a big deal that Pope Benedict XVI gave President Arroyo a copy of the encyclical because it is given to everybody.
I think it’s like the Pope gifting every visitor a rosary. it’s special coming from the Pope himself but for Malacanang to spin as if she is the blessed one is funny, if not ridiculous.
Anyway, what good is an audience with the Pope if you continue to lie, cheat and steal and condone killings of innocent civilians?
