Sad to say, the poor soldiers continue to suffer while their commanders are being spoiled by this Arroyo government. If we have the likes of Esperon and Palparan occupying the highest position in the military, we don’t need the NPA to recruit the people to fight against the government. These officers were rewared not because of their abilities and accomplishments; but for helping GMA cheat. Gone are the days when respect was so high for the PMAers and military officials. Today’s group of corrupt officers is even a lot worse than the time of Marcos. Ver sure feels envious in his grave.

  2. Emilio_OFW Emilio_OFW

    Big question:

CAN A “GOAT” OF HIS PMA CLASS OCCUPY THE HIGHEST POSITION IN THE ARMED FORCES OF THE PHILIPPINES?

In support of Gen. Lim, Gen. Gudani, Col. Querubin and other men in uniform who support this cause. MABUHAY KAYO!!! I will pray for our liberation from poverty, repression, injustices, of the illegitimate president in Malacanang. GOD BLESS US!!!

Sterling qualities of sterling soldiers, but they are all iced to impotence. They might sparkle someday, but for now they are like
“Full many a gem of purest ray serene
“The dark unfathomed caves of oceans bare
“Full many a flower is born to blush unseen
“And lost its sweetness to the desert air.” /Thomas Hardy

For now the soldiers that count have lost their balls to bansot.

  5. Alitaptap, the ones who have lost their balls to bansot do not count. The ones that count are still there. Their hands may be tied right now, but their hearts and minds remain noble and strong. That is what matters.

    Please don’t lose hope.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) may have divided into two factions: Those officers and foot soldiers that are loyal to bogus Commander In Chief and principled officers/soldier loyal to Inang Bayan, the Filipino people and the Constitution. Mrs. Gloria Arroyo has prostituted the AFP as an institution. Professionalism is dead under this corrupt regime. Hello Garci Generals were rewarded. Kiss-ass high ranking officers are given juicy positions while principled men and women in uniform some are jailed and dismissed from the service. The SUNDALO website will be the best “medicine” to neutralize the Malacanang media propaganda. The cyber war has begun.

  7. I’m quoting this from the Sundalo Page, a quote in fact from one of the most illustrious Philippine heroes, Apolinario Mabini. I have capitalized the most important part that I know Gudani, et al, live by. Mabuhay silang lahat, Gudani, et al:

“DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE AUTHORITY OF ANY PERSON WHO HAD NOT BEEN ELECTED BY THEE AND THY COMPATRIOTS, FOR ALL AUTHORITY EMANATES FROM GOD, AND SINCE GOD SPEAKS IN THE CONSCIENCE OF EACH INDIVIDUAL, THE PERSON DESIGNATED AND PROCLAIMED BY THE INDIVIDUAL CONSCIENCES OF A WHOLE PEOPLE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN WIELD AUTHORITY…

“A revolution may be conducted against a national government, if such a government has abused the power placed at its disposal by the people, with the purpose of having injustice administered, by using this power to drown out the public voice and at the same time to administer to its own convenience or caprice…

“Upang maitindig natin ang bantayog ng ating lipunan, kailangang radikal nating baguhin hindi lamang ang ating mga institusyon kundi maging ang ating pag-iisip at pamumuhay. Kailangan ang rebolusyon, hindi lamang sa panlabas, kundi lalo na sa panloob!…

“If the people are with us, we can rest assured that if we do not triumph today, we shall do so tomorrow or after tomorrow. If they are not with us, we shall be decimated.”
    —Apolinario Mabini

Gen. Gudani, Gen. Lim, Col. Querubin, Lt. Col. Balutan, Maj. Aquino, Capt. Faeldon, LtSG Trillanes and OTHER TRUE FILIPINO SOLDIERS – the few principled soldiers who did something for the evil not to prevail!

  9. You bet, Ellen, this brings back faith in the Philippine soldier, the brave ones at least who know the basics of soldiery, which is not bowing to an unauthorized leadership.

It is something that they can re-learn in fact from the examples of the soldiers of Venezuela as a matter of fact who brought back their duly elected president, Hugo Chavez, who was briefly removed by some people’s power movement reminiscent of the middle-class mob that removed Erap from the palace by the murky river!

I’m sending the link to my mother, whose own brother gave up his life for his country, and who is in fact a niece of the Luna brothers, with her father being a witness to the assassination of Gen. Antonio Luna by the Macabebens whose leader was reportedly the grandfather of the Pandak, and reason why my grandfather never forgave Aguinaldo and Lazaro Macapagal!

This is a bit off-topic if I may:

Can’t stop most of us exchanging views in this blog site, but there is one person who we almost forgot to talk about??? I am referring to the Vice President, no other thatn noli de castro???

Didn’t you guys notice he is too quiet this past few days, except when he was mentioned by gloria during her SONA??? aside from that, nothing, NADA, WALA tayong naririnig sa kanya.

He has been appointed presidential adviser on OFW, but what did he do to assists our kababayans??? especially the crises that we encountered now. The answer nothing, I was told that during his speech at the DFA last friday, 21 July, he boasted that he was appointed as OFW adviser. Did anyone of you saw/see him went to NAIA to meet the arriving OFWs from lebanon. AS I said in previous discussions, sorry to all people who believe in him, he who has no command in his own office should not be believed. Remember when I mentioned, again in the previous discussion that there is a brewing discontention in his office, regarding how the people he appointed are running the OVP???

    Kawawa naman ang ating bayan.

    jinx

  12. Jinx:

I don’t believe in people especially who has the nerve to deny paternity of his own child. If this Noli can do that to his own flesh and blood, can you expect him to have affection and compassion for those strangers regardless of whether or not he has been assigned to look after them?

Besides, do you think he is even concerned about losing the limelight as long as he can do his own sucking of whatever crumb is left for him and those who lick his ass likewise?

We may just as well concentrate on the principalculprit in this mess the country is in for the meantime, and then make sure that he does not take over when we are able to remove the criminal especially in what Legarda is doing to insure that he does not emerge the victor in this fight he has not dare lose a finger.

Don’t think that we are not in this concern. We are, but this guy is himself so pathetic that though he may not deserve our sympathy, it is not worth to waste time on him.

I have never been a fan of this broadcaster as a matter of fact. In the first place, I have watched him only once or twice even during those rare times I watch the Philippine Channel when I visit my folks in CA, USA.

    Tuloy ang laban, kabayan!

    additonal

You ask where is the money to evacuate our OFWs in Lebanon??? the answer is, we go back to history, in 2004 election, gloria and her hoods distributed thousands of philhealth cards, right??? I am not against giving philhealth cards to the needy, its the manner of funding it, wasn’t it mentioned that the money came from the OFW funds??? now that they need it, this government is scrambling to get money from anywhere, why not get back the money intended for the AFP and PNP to finish off the NPAs??? they were able to fund P1Billion for this operation, yet they were only able to fund P150million for the evecuation of our kababayans. The DFA/OWWA/POEA/DOLE should ask the vice president for help, wasn’t that he boasted he is the president’s adviser on OFW??? I was told about this when he gave a speech in the DFA celebration last 21 July. If cannot do it, as adviser on OFW, he should quit that post, the gull, ang yabang yabang nya hanggang salita lang naman pala sya. The DFA/OWWA/POEA/DOLE should approach him, its not enough that you talked to the DFA team sent to assist our kababayns in the middle east, you should act as one. Remember as well when, our kababayans were captured in iraq, where was he, as i said nowhere to be found. That my friend is gloria’s typical appointee, hanggang papel lang at pulos yabang.

  15. npongco npongco

Speaking of Kabayan Noli, does he still exist? Don’t be surprised by his silence. He has been very silent since becoming a Senator until now as Vice President. Simply explained…this Noli knows nothing so we hears nothing from him. He made his fortune as a broadcaster especially during his Magandang Gabi Bayan days. He was part of Gloria’s cheating machine last election. He spends most of his time attending to his fleet of luxury vehicles parked or hidden in his home garage. He plays golf with gambling lords. He wasted a Senate seat and now the Vice President seat. Noli is a silent operator. He may be counting his money right now…

  16. Emilio_OFW Emilio_OFW

jinx: I agree with you 100% regarding your assessment with Noli de Castro. Remember – he was a newsreader & not a broadcaster.

Newsreader does not a brain to digest and reason out about an issue being broadcasted. News is preapared for the newsreader and all he does is read. Even in his Magandang Gabi Bayad (este Bayan) days – all he did was read.

Broadcaster must possess a wit and wisdom to analyze and provide reasons and views on current events. As you said, Noli de Castro does not possess any of these – NADA, MAFI, WALA, ANGGAPO, AWAN, ZERO!

  17. Emilio_OFW Emilio_OFW

    sorry… comment should be:

Newsreader does not need a brain to digest and reason out about an issue being broadcasted. News is prepared for the newsreader and all he does is read line by line.

  18. npongco npongco

And you know what Emilio if I may add…that was the only reason why GMA picked him as her running mate. Because the guy has no brain and will never be a threat to her throne. If Noli was Erap’s vice president, Erap might not have been ousted so soon. Gloria learned this lesson. She picked a nincompoop and jack ass.

  19. nelbar nelbar

(I remember it was ex-Sen. Alvarez who proposed GMA-Loren team for 2004)
Sa “GMA-Noli tandem” of executive leadership, ‘NABALAHO’ ANG POLITICAL MATURITY NG PILIPINAS.

“coup … coup , come on do it” mentality.

Ma’m Ellen…this “sundalo”…is this a “genuine” website? Hope it’s not something that could “catch all the minnows in the lake”…hehehe 😉

  21. On the contrary Emilio, a broadcaster does not have to be witty and do his piece. May sumusulat niyan, the journalist, at itong broadcaster ay nagbabasa lang. I should know, I do parttime job for TV networks in Japan, remember?

If they think that the movement opposing and clamoring for the removal of the Pandak is dying, they are wrong.

  22. Emilio_OFW Emilio_OFW

Yuko – you’re really witty and smart for an immediate coined name for VP. Kaya mula ngayon ay tatawagin na natin siyang Noling Tagabasa – very well fitting description, indeed!

Not only that we must show our disgust and indignation with the current administration, we must also show our support and admiration to those who are willing to stake their careers and lives to fight for the right cause and against wrongdoings and abuses.

Maraming salamat sa site mo Ellen, I say more power to you.

  25. Right. There should be more Teresa Pangilinan to tell it to her face that she is a power-grabber and a fake.

“Ma’m Ellen…this “sundalo”…is this a “genuine” website? Hope it’s not something that could “catch all the minnows in the lake”…hehehe”

Let’s see, Spartan. But your skepticism is good. We should be careful. But on the surface, what they are saying there is not something that would generate admirers for Gloria.

  27. npongco npongco

Let’s just make sure that the soldiers in this group on the website are genuine…none like Lt. San Juan. Sometimes, it could be a trap by Malacanang and AFP to flush out rebel soldiers and their plans. I share Spartan’s skepticism.

that’s how the intelligence service and the counter-intelligence works.

    From wikipedia

    – Counter Intelligence –
Counter-intelligence is the activity of preventing the enemy from obtaining secret information, such as careful classification and control of sensitive information and spreading disinformation.

  30. Emilio,

  31. Ellen:

Isang international standard ngayon ng pagkuha ng information is you give one information and get two or three in return. I learned this when I translated a document on how they control drug trafficking among countries in the Pacific Rim. Iyan siguro ng prinsipyo ng blog ng mga sundalo including that of Faeldon’s unless of course it is a ploy. So what? Sino ba ang magugutom in the long run?

  35. Spartan, All:

It does not matter if this site has been put up by Esperon to trap supporters of brave soldiers like General Lim, et al, for deep down inside a lot many of these soldiers, there must still be the desire to be good soldiers unless they have become like the perverts volunteering for duty in Iraq or Afghanistan.

If so, let’s give Pandak and her generals a great deal of their own medicine, something like a tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye! Lokohan na ba? E di makipaglokohan tayo sa kanila while we fortify our position against them although I would rather stick to my standards of truth and right based on my faith in God, and in my fellowmen, especially those who share my sentiments for the Philippines, and against these crooks who do not make us proud for what they have made of the image of the Philippines and Filipinos, whom one Filipino expat has described as “mga katulong at puta ng mundo” Pathetic, di ba?

  36. i don’t know if that website is real or not, but i salute lim, gudani, balutan et al. for their truthtelling and bravery.

Any site or group as long as the goal is to remove this fake president is welcome. Everyone should be given the benefit of the doubt. To you Jefferson, why bitch about people supporting movement against Arroyo? We are small in comparison to the giant propaganda machinery Malacanang is using. And the money they spend come from the tax payers’ money. Go and take a break. You may want to join your president at St. Luke’s Hospital…

    Off topic:

Here are the current Lebanon crisis scenario and what some world leaders say:

Bush and Blair: Iran and Syria must stop supporting Hezbollah

Current situation: The US continues to support Israel. The US is the only nation in the world that rejects immediate ceasefire. This refusal is a green signal for Israel to continue bombing Lebanon.

Lebanon: Claims their death toll is about 50. That rockets coming from Hezbollah are made in Iran.

Actual situation: Lebanese dead is now 400 and still counting. 90% of the victims are civilians. Only a handful are actually militants. Israel military weapons, jets and tanks are mostly from the US. US military aids to Israel amount to billions a year. Lebanon/Hezbollah has no fighter jet against Israel’s over 400 jets. Hezbollah uses rockets and only during daytime to avoid being traced in the evening. Israel uses bombs and bombing continues day and night.

    UN and World: Immediate Ceasefire!

US and UK (only European country): Not yet.

So, who are the partners in crime today? Who are the real terrorists? Who are the modern day Nazis?

  39. npongco npongco

Correction: Israel (not Lebanon) claims their death toll is about 50.

  40. I support STRONGLY those who oppose dictatorial control of the military and all other sectors of government.

Ours is a democracy. We are supposed to be a free people, yet, the very person who is supposed to give us that freedom [to speak our minds] have tried again and again to curtail that basic freedom.

I SUPPORT OUR SOLDIERS:the likes of Messrs. Gudani, Gen. Lim, and more whose unwavering faith in justice made them seek jusctice itself despite of the visible clamp on them.

I DO NOT support arroyo’s fakes: fake everything. I wonder…. the blood that runs through her veins must not be dark red, but colored green: as green as a green-eyed monster.

Taunting supporters of this blog and those against arroyo must be the work of an evil heart as well. Theirs are LEGION, remember?

  41. I have only HIGH RESPECT
    …..for those who fight injustices and want to make things right;
…..who voice their indignation, rather than keep mum on important issues that beset the country.

    I detest magnanakaws and her minions;
…..and I abhor people who work for a wicked, scheming, evil detestable one!

  43. npongco npongco

As a follow up to my earlier posting about the Lebanon War:

The world should stop supporting America. America is actually the number one terrorist. America may not have been the first to create a weapon of mass destruction but they were the first to use it. And they are still building more deadly weapons all the time. America is also the only country involved in ALL wars whether directly or indirectly. America is also the only country that truly profits from war. Just ask Dick Cheney how his “former” oil company is doing since 9/11. But now it doesn’t matter who is fighting who, the war is never over until America says it is. Or so they seem to believe.

How many wars have there been that America lost something (other than soldiers lives)? America (as a Government) gains in war. They gain land, money, partnership (but America controls the partnership), unfair trade, etc.. What did the Philippines gain at the end of the war there when America fought? What did Japan gain after America dropped the bombs? What did Germany gain after America went in? What did the Native Americans gain?

Nobody wins when they deal with America. But, America goes after one country at a time and bullies them and if need be they threaten other countries in order to get support.
America is weak pretending to be strong. Their own people do not even know what to believe in and what to do. Their own people refuse to fight for the country but support others
who fight FOR THEM. There comes a time in every mans life they have to fight. But in America’s case there comes a time in every man’s life they have to get someone to fight for them. They support the military but are against the war and that wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t for the fact they are not attacking the President for the military like they should. People are afraid to talk against the government (especially if they make a lot of money). So they continue to let the soldiers die for a war that isn’t worth fighting. God bless America?

  44. If it suits america, then they’ll go for it.
america goes to war, or shall we say, specifically, bush goes to war becoz it’s THEIR business. Has someone ever heard of the Carlyle Group? Ask fvr: he knows.

  45. Forget about strategy. Filipino soldiers have not apparently been taught that, but strategy or not, every man has been given that instinct to survive except that in the Philippines, even that is now being crushed to suit the agenda of the Midget, who has reduced these soldiers to mere puppets, even the pataygutom willing to sell their souls to the highest bidders.

Examples are those quitting the Philippine military to risk their lives in Iraq as mercenaries since what the heck, they will die likewise in the Philippines fighting some imagined insurgency, and for a pittance. At least, in Iraq they get 1,500 dollars compared to a 10th of that they get paid in the Philippines unless they kiss the Midget’s ass for some millions she has been sucking from the treasury, etc. to pay the likes of them ass lickers and suckers.

  46. Regarding the Carlyle Group, you may be able to see a video presentation on this subject at http://www.informationclearinghouse.info

The end must be really near with all these signs of the times like the world being saturated with bad leaders like Dubya of the US and Pandak of the Philippines. Both have resorted to manipulating the votes to get to where they are, and those supposed to be for truth and right not being able to success to remove them despite the exposure of truth and evidences to prove the guilts of these crooks.

But whether or not this is part of the plan, we are still not supposed to stand there doing nothing, I guess. Tuloy ang laban! PATALSIKIN NA, NOW NA!

  47. Spartan Spartan

I hope so Ma’m Ellen…for the sake of our Inang Bayan…but I still can’t stop thinking WHY, during last year’s “photo-ops” of gloria and noli de cashtro with the Scout Ranger Regiment, “nobody had the guts” to just pull the trigger and “pump” one lead on her head?…makes me really wonder WHY? 🙁

  48. npongco npongco

Spartan, don’t worry…it may just happen. A suidide bomber would have been more effective. If people’s anger and hatred are too much to bear and this Gloria continues with her abuse, yes…it may just happen…very soon!

  49. Oops, this should read: Both have resorted to manipulating the votes to get to where they are, and those supposed to be for truth and right not being able to SUCCEED to remove them despite the exposure of truth and evidences to prove the guilts of these crooks. In time, though, they will, and for a reason and good of all who have done it right and without any ulterior motive.

So, you can imagine just how much money is being spent on this photo-ops, dining and wining, etc.

npongco…per my own personal opinion, a “mujaheedin-like bomber” is not an option…”collateral damage” would be great…alot of those “around her” whose only crime is for being “chuwariaps” would also be either “taken-out” or maimed…just one “well-placed” .50 caliber bullet from a Barret Sniper Rifle would “more than do the job”. I don’t think there would be enough of her face and head that would be left…and to think of it…she might “attain her ultimate goal”…that of being a “martyr” like she always portrays herself….hehehe…”martir” nina deVenicia, Tabako, at Nograles… 😛

  52. Spartan Spartan

But “kidding aside”…I guess, if it indeed happens, it will serve as a WARNING to the next leaders that, again as I said before…if they follow what marcos, fvr, erap, and “the MOTHER OF ALL DOROBOS” named gloria did, Philippine politics is “a whole NEW GAME”…where the corrupt and abusive politicians would PAY WITH THEIR LIVES. It’s human nature to be afraid of dying…no matter how tough or evil he or she is. The only question is, are WE all ready for this kind of “political life”? If YES, then HOPE for a better Philippines is really BRIGHT…if NO, then the saying and false belief that “no matter whom you put or select to lead the government, it would still be the same..” should be “swallowed” by US.

  53. npongco npongco

What you said makes sense, Spartan. You sound like you have some military background. Can we appoint you as the team leader to this mission of terminating HER?

Seriously, let’s leave it to God. God has the final say. One thing is certain…she will die a painful death.

  54. Spartan Spartan

She would die a “painful death…yes, just like marcos died a “painful death”….but did his “painful death” CHANGE on how our country’s political leaders SERVE the INTERESTS OF THE COMMON PEOPLE? What are WE ALL “yapping about” here?…isn’t it because of OUR “COMMON IDEOLOGY”? What ideology is it? Isn’t it that, we ALL should “experience” living in a country with EQUALITY, JUSTICE, and PEACE? I was in college when EDSA Revolution (the “real” EDSA PEOPLE POWER) happens…when makoy left, almost ALL of us, if not ALL were HOPING that NOBODY WOULD be like marcos was…”strong-man”…”cunning”…”authoritarian”…”ruthless”…”shameless”…and most of all a “thief”…cory? she was ok…not that she’s a “total saint”…fvr? he’s entitled to that “he’ll die a painful death” thing…erap?…he’s one lucky “stupid” politician…that’s who he is…now, here comes this “tiny” female “creature” named gloria…she is “marcos” reincarnated…everything that makoy did, she’s done it already in a “short period” of time that she’s in power…how much more can she do if she reaches the “length of time” that marcos held power? Comm’on npongco…you’ve said it…”a suicide bomber…”. I merely explained to you WHY it is more “practical” to do it the other way.

  55. Spartan:

Yup, takot ka kung di mo alam kung saan ka pupunta, but why be afraid of the inevitable?

npongco, going back to your comment..”about me having a military background…”, do you know that you can launch a “rocket” using a plastic soda bottle with water?…but it doesn’t make you a “rocket scientist”.

  59. npongco npongco

Oh yea, I saw that one on TV. The family size plastic soda bottle then put a menthol candy inside. It pops like rocket. I’m amazed by the way how these Palestinian militants develop bombs and rockets just by assembling some electronic gadgets. But you see, I’m very weak technically and would prefer watching people show it than me doing it myself.

  62. men0k men0k

I was reading the contents of the site.. one thing that strikes me is that it somehow tries to establish that there is really a link between the soldiers and the Communict Party… That’s why it leads me to think whether this site is authentic or just another venue of the Government PR machine to mislead the people and be away from the TRUTH.. that there are soldiers, with Communist party or without communist party link, who are really dismayed with their ‘Commander-In-Chief’…

  63. MenOK, I went back to the site, with your observation in mind and yes, I agree with you. I’m beginning to suspect it’s an esperon bait. I’ll write about it in my column for Malaya on monday.

  64. Gaya ng sabi ko na whether the page is authentic or not, it does not actually achieve anything but expose the graft and corruption in the Philippine Military and its sad state under the leadership of a criminal.

  65. Ellen,

The timing of this website is also suspect. It came out when Lim and the others where being charged. Could this be a ploy to strengthen the the administration’s claim of conspiracy? It can be used to file more charges against those implicated in the Feb. 24 incident. I suspect, the government found their case weak and this website will help prop up their accusations. They would also need to show that the Magdalos are in cahoots with the Communists. The administration and the ISAFP are very good at covering all cracks. I must admit, I am wary of this website.

  66. Even if it is an administration bait, ok lang. Who
    are they baiting anyway?

Meanwhile, many of the contents are not flaterring GMA.

  67. npongco npongco

Schumey, you might be correct in your analysis. Anyone or any group that appears these days is always a suspect and we should be cautious. Because this government itself under this bogus president is a suspect. There’s more to it that knowing there are intelligence groups. We have these all around: NICA, ISAFP, GI and other smaller units. Internationally, the largest and the most sophisticated is the US-CIA. Their covert operations is well known in history. They can make it happen. They have the resources. They can eliminate even their allies and friends. This is what GMA should take note. One day and it may be sooner than what we think, the CIA would eliminate her. How? There are many ways.

Just look at the marcoses, they are still around, despite the more than 2 decades of plunder! Let us make these plunderers pay for their misdeeds.

  70. Taipan88

The Pandak, in fact, is taking advantage of Imelda’s gullibility and kinship with the Fatso’s cousin, Greggy Araneta, to rally the Ilocanos and Leytenos to her side by pretending that she is willing to give the Marcoses a fair deal, vis-a-vis Imelda’s jewelries! Yuck!

There are lots of things that need to be answered in fact, but one reason why they do not want them answered is the simple fact that a lot many people involved in the graft and corruption during the 20 years of Marcos rule remain in position and are running the show even after 1986.

I have mentioned that my mother was related to Marcos on his father’s Rubio side (the father’s middle name was Rubio), and a lot many of our relatives in fact cried foul when the Apo would reason out nepotism for not helping them like an uncle who ran for Mayor in my mother’s hometown during the Martial law years, but it was his own father’s kins who mostly patronized him and his family when they were transported to Hawaii after EDSA 1.

I, myself, went to Hawaii with my siblings to meet the Apo, and found him a very sick man. His vision apparently was affected by his ailment. I did not go there, however, when he died. My siblings did. Good thing I did not because I would not be able to stand the hypocrisy of Imelda who tried to make a show of something Ilocanos consider to be a very solemn occasion.

I am in favor of putting the Marcoses on trial, and prove whether or not they stole money from the country’s coffers that caused the country such economic ills that I was educated to have already been existing long before Marcos became president as a matter of fact despite the war reparations payments received from the US and Japan, and better state of the nation before the father of the Pandak became president, and the country started its downfall stride so that my history professor in UP, Teodoro Agoncillo, would drum into our heads that our generation and future generations of Filipinos would never be able to pay the debts that Dadong Macapagal incurred during his presidency, and he was right.

At least, one thing that I can tell you outright is that Marcos may have started this deployment of Filipino workers to the Middle East to alleviate the unemployment problem in the country, but never to troubled states like Lebanon, etc., and definitely, he did not condone the deployment of the Japayuki to Japan.

It was in fact one of the things that he was criticized for not giving protection to these women who would risk coming here to engage in prostitution prior to Cory Aquino’s legitimizing their status with such silly contract as the 40,000 special quota given by Japan for entertainers to help in Philippine economic recovery after 1986.

It was one reason why these women would even come to Japan before 1986 on fake passports that were being expedited by some undersecretary of DFA who was removed by Marcos when we reported such matter to him through then Ambassador Valdez. The said undersecretary was reportedly selling his signature for expiditing passport issuance for 1,500 pesos per paper.

As expected, that undersecretary joined the anti-Marcos forces, and when Cory became president, he was one of those retained, and thus, the issuance of passports with falsified information had flourished after EDSA 1.

Worse was when such passports were issued even to non-Filipinos as in the case of members of the banned Japanese Red Army or some Chinese woman I was asked to translate her documents for, and reason for the ensuing restrictions applied to Philippine passport holders everywhere.

The leader of the Japan Red Army in fact, Fusako Shigenobu, was apprehended with a Philippine passport two or three years ago that she had used in coming to and from Japan.

The point is they should stop this practice of assigning relatives, friends and cronies to important positions in the government. Positions of judge in the courts for example should have been done ONLY by some national exam (no cheating, though) by qualified aspirants, and seats in the Supreme Court should have been filled up by these judges who have risen from the ranks, and approved by the people through a national referendum or national election as we do in this country.

Otherwise, justice will never prevail and all they get there in the Philippines is what you call JUST-TIIS!

  71. Point, Jinx, is that even the OFWs have not stood united on the OWWA funds. I cannot understand why the hesitation to rally them all as one against the transferring of OWWA funds to the health department to justify this fraud of the health cards with the Midget’s picture to distribute to wannabe supporters in Election 2004.

That’s what indifference can do as a matter of fact. What Filipinos in general should try to get rid of is this indifference, the attitude of not doing something if they do not feel threatened even by something that gradually consumes them!!!

It isn’t really lack of unity that the Midget at the moment can have the advantage, but this indifference or that defeatist attitude of “walang magagawa!” Hopefully, the dire need now and extreme sufferings will be good antidote against this malady of indifference, and the time will come when they would be able to really start anew without the crooks who have dominated Philippine politics since I can remember.

  72. npongco npongco

Marcos was a very rich man even before he entered politics. He was into gold trading. Marcos was a simple man. He could have been corrupt just like more of our leaders; but he didn’t abuse unlike his wife Imelda. We never heard of Marcoses involved in wide scale corruption. His brother Pacifico was a successful doctor. On the other hand, Imelda’s family was similar to this Arroyo family. The Romualdezes especially this guy called “Bejo” were very corrupt. Marcos’ weakness was the padrino system and cronies like Erap. Marcos made sure that he paid back those who helped his political career and during his difficult like as a soldier. Good or bad, he paid back by appointing them to juicy positions. If we consider it a mistake on his part, let it be. That’s Marcos.

Marcos was blamed for the Plaza Miranda bombing. Decades later, no less than Victor Corpuz admitted it was a Communist hit. Jovito Salonga seconded Corpuz. Ninoy was absent during the Plaza Miranda bombing where he was supposed to be with the rest of the Liberal Party candidates. Ninoy was identified with the left. You may draw a conclusion from this.

Marcos was also blamed for Ninoy’s death. Yet today, even his critics and enemies have changed their opinion. Cory’s family knew all along who the mastermind was. But she refused a re-opening of the case despite the willingness of the jailed soldiers to testify. One principal witness who insisted on telling the truth assisted by the Public Defender’s Office dies mysteriously. The refusal to re-open the case and find out the truth can be compared to GMA’s refusal to let the impeachment process works. Are they both hiding something? Cory as well as Gloria?

Think about this for a moment…If Marcos applied the full force of his Police and Military at that Edsa gathering like what Gloria is doing today, would he be ousted that easily? We can ask the same question about Erap…if Erap stopped those daily street rallies and used his own trusted men to counter his foes like what Gloria is doing now, would Erap be ousted so easily?

I believe that history will be kinder to Marcos and Erap!

  73. I congratulated Sundalo for its website and they replied. I think it’s the same letter they sent to everybody because Yuko also got the same letter:

    Dear Ellen,

Thanks for sending us some notes.

We apologize for the delay in replying as we are still improving the website and the first things that we encountered were several instances of our website being knocked down because of amazingly huge number of surfers that accessed and are trying to access the site. We have to twice increase our bandwith capacity in order to provide continuous access to the website, and we have not started promoting it.

We are coming up with a Malayang Talakayan Community Message Board/Forum where everybody may register and post notes and discussions, and debate on issues. We will be trying to upload it this week so that the exchange of ideas may commense. We will be informing you later if this is already available.

We will also be redesigning the website to enable it look more relaxing and more friendly, more organized.

Since, the internet is an open access communications arena, we are not sure of the real identities of people behind the email addresses, so we are advising everybody that not all those who access our websites are friends and allies, even our enemies are scrutinizing it and getting information they will later on use against us.

For the email note that you sent us, please indicate if we can post them in the website or message board/forum with your full name on it with or without your email address, or just your initials, or first name and family name initial without email addresses. Or you can just post your same note in the message board/forum that we will be providing.

To assure you that your identity and sources will be fully secured and not be comprised in sending us notes and documents from your end, our advise is for you to please open another web based email account, use fictitious data and information, and use that email in sending us confidential documents and papers that we will be posting in the website.

We hope that when our message board/forum has been uploaded, you will be active in the discussions and debate so that we could better understand what is happening in our country and armed forces and better serve our people.

Mabuhay po kayo at ang Sambayanang Pilipino!

  74. I have second thoughts about the website. It’s in my column for Malaya tomorrow.

  75. npongco npongco

Just like the others’ reservation about the soldier’s site, I also think it could be a trap to flush out the rebels’ supporters that may include us if we submit our letters and names. It could be the work of Arroyo’s intelligence department. Let’s just be cautious and watchful. Nothing is sure these days…not in this cruel regime.
