Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel, Sen. Tessie Aquino-Oreta, at Sen.

    Loren Legarda (Rank: 1)

I am amazed by the transformation of Loren. She started as an honest, unimpeachable figure in the field of broadcasting. Then it all went downhill from there. I still couldn’t believe why, for the life of me, she would join forces with Erap and FPJ – I can still picture her in my head teary-eyed when the notorious second envelope was not opened (Remember her crying while hugging Pimentel?). Was that all for show? I know politics make strange bedfellows but I never thought she would apply what she did in her own personal life to her political career (Ooppsss…low blow yata yon). This makes Col. Victor Corpus’ famous description of Legarda even more resounding and apt: “She is a political prostitute…”

by the way, sorry if this issue is out of the topic! pero nakapagtataka lang kasi na si Charlie “atong” Ang ay mabilis nagawan ng paraan para mapa-deport sa pinas para makasuhan ng “Pandarambong” kasama ni erap pero itong si Jocelyn “joke” Bolante para yatang linta kung maka-kapit at hanggang ngayon di pa napatalsik balik sa pinas para madiin ang mga “Mandarambong” noong eleksyon,

According to Billy Esposo in his High Ground column dated 11/9/07:

“…Now, it is not surprising that the political opposition is relishing the recent developments and is courting Cruz to join its ranks as a senatorial candidate; the Duke of Wellington would have wanted to enlist the Imperial Guard of Napoleon’s Grand Armee instead of having to fight them in the battlefield.

Our politicians are not known to have ideological moorings or principles that will inhibit them from collaborating with people who until days ago were their biggest political enemies. With the prospects of gaining access to the Arroyo regime’s innermost secrets and vulnerabilities — its “assets and liabilities,” as it were — the opposition does not seem to mind proclaiming as the “new heroes” those who it once attacked as the Rasputins behind every questionable deal in town.”…

  5. TonGuE-tWisTeD TonGuE-tWisTeD

Well, for starters, Col. Victor Corpus was himself a political prostitute.

Of course, he is! He works for the political pimp who is also Mafia Queen.

  6. TonGuE-tWisTeD TonGuE-tWisTeD

Hayop ang strategy, ‘no?

  7. Victor Corpuz was the ultimate political prostitute:

    1) defected to the enemy by joining the Communist Party to become the NPA’s tactical officer with full power to kill his former comrades in military uniform

    2) when the going got tough and he couldn’t take the discomfort in the mountains, he defected back to the AFP, purged a prison sentence and then exchanged his principles for comfort and a military rank with full powers to hunt his erstwhile leftist comrades in the mountains.

    3) As if that wasn’t enough, he helped topple a duly elected president of the Republic and made sure that Gloria’s systematic and dogmatic breach of the Constitution stays put by spinning intelligence information against Gloria’s enemies…

That is the ultimate military and political prostitution!

  8. There are still a few politicians in the country hopefully with some moreal principles.

Sadly most of them have gone to the dogs.

The Philippine political arena is starting to smell like an unwashed and unclean kennel for mongrels.

    anna,

macapagal, arroyo, ejercito, laurel, recto, aquino, etc….

  14. Anna:

You are right about the cultural deficiency, and should I say integrity. There is really something wrong somewhere regarding even the concept of having principles, hanging on to truth and right, etc. that they in the first place do not really have any concept of nor comprehend, kind of like in a limbo brought about the fondness for example of Filipinos to take gray for black and white unlike the more disciplined Japanese, for example, who see black as black, white as white and never gray.

As for this penchant of Filipinos comparing themselves with God as when they distort even the words of Christ as when they quote that “if God can forgive, why can’t man?” or the story of the fallen woman that the Catholic Church mistook for Mary Magdalene about throwing the first stone to justify their graft and corruption, iniquity and pathetic sense of right and wrong.

With regard to Erap’s relationship with the three senators he now invites to join his slate, well, what can you expect? It is more for expediency, I guess, but time for Filipinos to be rid of these expediencies and maneuverings that have been the main cause of their miseries in the first place.

On the other hand, why don’t these guys run on their own if they are really that powerful and popular as they have claimed? Their presence in the Opposition slot will only cause a rift similar to the ones created when FPJ was chosen to run just because he was popular and could be sure to win. Kaso nga nanakaw ang mga boto!!!

Look they know full well that there was cheatings done even with the connivance for example of this Pangilinan, who with De Venecia declared the Bansot winner even before ALL THE VOTES could be counted. Katwiran late daw Samantalang ang linaw naman na sinabing puedeng ipadala by mail ang balota a day before the counting!!!

Frankly, I cannot understand why Erap should appoint Villar, Pangilinan and Recto to be one of his party’s candidate. I hate this adulation given him as a matter of fact that he is willing to bestow likewise to these people who stabbed him at his back in 2001.

Forget about Erap. He’s history. He should not be sitting there likewise, acting like a king himself and ordering this and that candidate be voted by his supporters.

I will support, though, his fight for seeking redress for the injustice done him if there is any. He deserves it as anyone else.”

Best thing is for Filipinos to pick their own candidates through the party system, but be sure the kick out such devil incarnates as the Malacanang’s People’s Initiative. At least, they revealed themselves from the onset by quoting the legion of disembodied spirits in the Bible!!!

I would encourage Filipinos to join political groups as a matter of fact. It is one way to get acquainted with these possible leaders and prospective candidates of good quality.

Schumey, yes the partylist candidates can be the better alternative. Kaya lang balita ko iyong SiRaulO Gunggonzales is running after the partylist leaders because he wants to take their place. May partylist din daw iyan. Is that true?

So, the best solution is to get rid of graft and corruption by knowing the Constitution by heart, and demanding for one’s rights and privileges by all means, and getting rid of these crooks ordering killings of critics of the Bansot and dissidents so the ordinary Filipinos can be freely and effectively taught of their rights and privileges and how to demand for them.

They should not leave the fate of the nation to Erap or the Bansot and her Tabatsoy, and/or kung sino pang Judas at Pontio Pilato diyan! 😡

  15. This should read: You are right about the cultural deficiency, and should I say integrity. There is really something wrong somewhere regarding even the concept of having principles, hanging on to truth and right, etc. that they in the first place do not really have any concept of nor comprehend, kind of like in a limbo brought about BY the fondness for example of Filipinos to take gray for black and white unlike the more disciplined Japanese, for example, who see black as black, white as white and never gray! kulisap,

  25. Point is that even now, Filipinos have the tendency to depend on anyone who can save them. Parasitic mind.

In fact, I had the misconception that ALL OFWs would be more matured politically and would be better voters. This I heard in fact ang nangyari sa mga pilipino for example sa KSA or even sa Singapore.

For their distorted sense of right and wrong in addition to their dire need and poverty, it is easy for people like Bansot or even Erap to dupe the little people. Kawawang bansa!

  26. On the other hand, it is not a reason to give up on the Filipinos. It is to enumerate the problems and find solutions to them.

  31. I agree with Ellen that it’s not smart for erap to come up with a Senatorial list this early with names like Recto and Noted Pangilinan.

Siguro Erap felt slighted when Lacson said opposition members do not need Erap’s blessing to be included in the Opposition Senatorial lineup.

So Erap went ahead and prematurely put out his own list of “Opposition” Senatorial candidates for the 2007 elections without Lacson’s name in it.

The now detained Estrada himself yesterday bared an evidently powerhouse senatorial line-up for next year’s elections that is composed of the big guns of major

opposition parties but the shortlist also includes the names of politicians who figured prominently in what is widely seen as his illegal ouster more than five years ago.

The ousted leader, during an interview with broadcast journalist and former congressman Ted Failon yesterday over radio station dzMM, named the opposition’s senatorial candidates for the 2007 polls: Representatives Alan Peter Cayetano (Taguig-Pateros) and Francis Escudero (Sorsogon); Former Senators Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan, Loren Legarda, Teresa Aquino-Oreta, John Osmena and Vicente “Tito” Sotto III; San Juan Mayor Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito; re-electionist Senators Francis Pangilinan, Ralph Recto and Manuel Villar; and lawyer Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel.

    More here:

When asked by Failon why some of his known political detractors were included in the line-up, the deposed leader replied, “Matagal ko na silang napatawad.” (I have long forgiven them.)

Estrada explained that he has “set aside his own feelings in consideration of the greater welfare of the country and people to unite the opposition and help them win to put an end to the reign of the Arroyo administration.”

    ….

He confirmed that JV, instead of his wife, Sen. Luisa “Loi” Ejercito Estrada, will run for the Senate.

    …..

When Failon inquired as to why reelectionist Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson was dropped from the original list, Estrada said Lacson does not have a political party and although he claimed to lead the LDP-Lacson wing, the opposition’s unity group only recognized the LDP-Angara wing.

So Erap still supports Angara? I’m sorry, but this is way dumb.

The Democrats have credibility. They opposed the Iraq war in the first place. 3 years later, the Democrats have been vindicated. The voters realized that the Democrats were correct after all, so they elected the Democrats.

Eh ang ‘united opposition’? Wala silang credibility. Nada. Zero.

  35. Hindinapinoy,

Wigberto Tanada is a principled politician.

Although Nene Pimentel was a bit of a disappointment back in 2001 but I believe he has since realized that he had made a gross mistake and has come back fighting the good fight.

Some people may not like Sen Lacson but the man has been consistent – he projects courage and bravoura and is at the forefront of battling with Jose Pidal. I hope he won’t accept Ermita’s overtures.

True, there aren’t many of them but in these trying times, the few that are there are more than enough to keep the drumbeat of war against Gloria going, and like Buencamino, I am all for regrouping the various albeit odd elements, no matter how distatesteful it is to me, to form an entire fighting force against Gloria and her cabal of scalawags. When she’s out of power, then reckoning can seriously begin!

I agree, the situation is far from being ideal but unless new blood springs to the fore, there’s really very little choice. At the end of the day, we all have to make a tough choice because these are tough times. We cannot sit on the side undecided. Nothing worthwhile can come out by being undecided. If Goerge Washington had taken the serious moral road, I don’t believe America would have been born and if the French had not done the same, there wouldn’t have been a French revolution. If Britain had not gone through 100 years of civil war, there wouldn’t have been the democratic Britain we know today… If Americans had not rebuked Bush in the recent elections, we would still see Rumsfeld arrogantly bitching about his atrocious architecture of war in Iraq.

I say, bite the bullet, go for it and be done with it – get rid of Gloria and her cohorts, they are the number one enemies of State. They are the ultimate Filipino terrorists, terrorizing the majority of Filipinos into complete subservience.

The Philippines has only one choice: get rid of Gloria or die!

It is to enumerate the problems and find solutions to them”

susmaryosep! an apolitical first-timer in this blog, after just reading a few posts, will either commit suicide or abandon the Philippines

dapat ngang mag-link dito yung mga web sites ng mga immigration consultancies. they offer the immediate solution to the anxieties caused by reading this blog – immigrate!

lalo na when first-timers here discover that several posters have already migrated to first world countries!

nakupo. all that is said here is “patalsikin na now na.” yan lang naman ang paulit-ulit ns sinasabi dito. find solutions? other than booting out GMA, no one offers a solution here (aside from me).

for almost all posters here, this blog is just an avenue for pagtatatalak.

  38. Jon M Jon M

  39. You said it, Anna. Senator Pimentel was a disappointment in EDSA 2 but one thing sure is the man is not corrupt in that he never accepts bribes the way his fellow senators and members of the Philippine Congress do. The man earns his keep the honest way. I bet you he is sorry he was duped to support EDSA 2.

Tawa nga si Satur Ocampo, who was also one of them duped by the height and pacute-cute of the Bansot. They did not notice the Dambuhala hovering behind. They have to learn their lessons the hard way. Now, they have to learn how to undo the harm done, and right the wrong also the hard way.

  40. Ooops, it should be: Senator Pimentel was a disappointment in EDSA 2! At least, he has till 2010 or sooner to try to lick the devil.

  41. At least, Senator Pimentel was one of the most vocal against the cheating in the last election as a form of amends for the mistake he probably did in EDSA 2.

No one is questioning the usual attempt to bribe and cajole the voters on election day. Blame is on poverty and yes, illiteracy or the state of having little education even to know one’s basic rights that is why Filipinos in fact are easy to frighten, intimidate, harass and easily become the underdog.

  42. juan jr. juan jr.

Remember the Political Arena in the USA is far different than our here in the Philippines! sa U.S.its either you are republicans or democrats pagnakampanya ang mga politiko kung ano ang sinasabi ginagawa(Words of Honor! eh YUNG MGA POLITIKO SA ATIN MAYROON BA NYAN!!??) at pagnakaupo na sa pwesto ngtatrabaho para sa tao; may mga prisipyo sila at takot sa karma at pagkatapos ng eleksyon TRABAHO NA at walang ng PERSONALAN at higit sa lahat may delekadisa; AND THEY ARE READY TO ACCEPT THIER CONSEQUENCES!! NOT LIKE IN THE PHILIPPINES THEY ARE LOOKING THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIER OPPONENTS! TO PULLED IT DOWN!!… ganyan kagagaling ng mga politiko sa atin!!:P Mga “toso” at “sinungaling”

  43. norpil norpil

in any democracy, the politicians are judged by the people, so that the kind of politicians we get is dependent on the quality of the majority of the people who judge them. pinas is a long way to a real democracy. if only we can get an honest leader by luck then it can change the direction of this bad circle we are in.

  44. norpil,

in the absolute you are right – people deserve the government they elect as the saying goes – at the same time, Filipinos are going through a learning process it seems, a trial by error of sorts and it’s a good beginning.

European countries went through centuries of political upheavals and wars decimating tens of millions of people before it got to some kind of stable democracy they are enjoying today.

Democracy cannot just be learned in one go or from how to do books, losing rights is one way to experience the trek to democracy.

Look at the party list representatives in Congress, I say they are working towards something that is realistically doable, more worthwhile. After having taken up arms to overthrow the Republic, they discovered that they cannot remain underground – “parliamentaring” in the open, pitting their courage and intellect in the halls of parliament is the better course of action.

  45. Mrivera Mrivera

  48. norpil norpil

anna: i am not sure of the party list you are wrote about here, but if they have a political plattform and an organisation that is democratic, then it must be a good start. i don’t know if i have it correct but if they still part of the npa, i think they must cut those connections. we cannot have one govt with two militaries..just reading about the erap thing here make one think that many years of practicing democracy has not really helped us. that a single person can choose a whole line up of senatorial candidates is a step back from the old liberal and nacionalista parties that i remember as a youth.even gma who is supposed to have learned something in her stay in the usa turned out she learned the bad things unless she was born bad.

  49. Hahahaha, Mrivera, is that you?

For all you know, maraming bloggers si Ellen dito na kumikilos hindi mo lang alam.

  50. Norpil,

Re: “a political plattform and an organisation that is democratic”

I think you will find that the mere fact that they – party lists, eg., bayan muna, gabriela (?), etc. have started to join mainstream politics is already a good start.

  51. Manuel, Sa akin okay lang sina Oreta, tatad, sotto. Nakita ko ang tabaho nila sa Senado, especially oreta who really had good programs in uplifiting the lot of public school teachers when she was chair of the committee on education.

Even if she returned it, mali pa rin.

Yun naman kanyang dancing, I was there in the Senate session hall and I know it was not a dance of victory. She was mocking the society matrons (i remember tessie baltazar was one of them) whowere jeering at her. Mali pa rin ang ginawa niya.

and hindi ko maaring lunukin ay sina pangilinan, recto, john osmeña kasi they had a record of cooperating with gloria arroyo in cheating. We cannot be sure that they would work for the ouster of arroyo.

at least alam ko sina oreta, tatad, at sotto will never support THE CHEAT.

  52. Anthony Scalia,

Re: “for almost all posters here, this blog is just an avenue for pagtatatalak.”

Hmm…ok, so stop gassing! get cracking!

  53. John said: “So Erap still supports Angara? I’m sorry, but this is way dumb. ”

Talagang dumb. Estrada shows his immaturity.

  54. Anna,

Kawawang bansa!

  56. npongco npongco

Something’s wrong with Erap these days. He should go and see a psychiatrist together with his comadre Miriam Santiago. Lacson is second on the surveys; yet, why is he being excluded from the list of candidates? There are those in Erap’s inner circle who have been destroying and sabotaging the opposition. I strongly suspect that some of them are planted by Malacanang. Look at Angara!

  57. Talking of immaturity talaga Ellen, reminds me of when he (Erap) got really pissed off when Fidel Agcaoilin, who had been going back and forth to Manila over the terms of the then peace negotiations, upon returning to Utrecht contradicted him publicly over some of the terms, Erap got mad, “Pinakaain ko pa naman sila pag bumibisita sila, tapos, ganyan ang gagawin nila…”

And Erap had the habit of saying to those who opposed him “Mag-presidente muna sila…”

    Hahahah!

  58. npongco,

must be the lambanog or the 4 long necks every night (during his bar exams) that Tongue spoke of that’s doing poor Erap in… heh!

Kawawang Pilipinas!

  60. Mrivera Mrivera

ystakei, how does i read? or how you understand and pick up my point? ha ha ha hah!

  61. This should read:…maaaring ang dahilan niya AY ipakitang basa na talaga ang papel ni Bansot…

  67. Chabeli Chabeli

Isn’t there anybody decent who wants to run? Then again, it’s too early for the “new faces” to come out, I hear. Gloria will swat them as quickly as they show their faces. Patience, is indeed, a virtue. We must continue to pray.

  68. Chabeli Chabeli

What does one do if he/she feels that those running in an election is NOT competent and has the integrity to do the job? He/She does not vote. That is a protest and a slap on the face of politicians, who are once again, playing around–running in the opposition ticket, and then, when they win, they switch back to Gloria’s camp. Dapat wag natin payagan na maulit muli!

  69. Chabeli:

Sabi nga ni MB, iboto na lang iyong lesser evil, and then try impeachment pag lumoko-loko!

This reminds me of what a group of Filipinos in KSA told me. So, pinauwi at tumakbo (I am just not sure if as a partylist Congressman or not), nanalo because of the OFW support.

On the other hand, Filipinos may try imitating the Americans.

  71. BTW, why is Ermita talking to Lacson now? Hmmmmmm! Something cooking?

Maganda iyong quote from Napoleon. Sana nga. Good advice! One should not connive with those who have just fallen out of grace. Naghahanap lang ang mga iyan ng kakampi!

  73. Chi, it’s supposed to be for Nov. 10.I made a mistake in the time-stamp. In a few minutes , it will be back.

  74. chi chi

Whoa! A very sexy “Hot Mama, Hot Papa” item from Ellen.

Three days ago, I was thinking what could be this personal/official meeting between Ermita and Lacson, which both didn’t want to divulge. Since there has already been glimpses of this, here and there, I speculated that this is it.

Wondering also, what could that leaker wanted? Hmmmnn…

Getting deadlier, hotter, sexier in the Fantasy Kingdom of the Great Pretender!

Anyway, I made the decision to post it here, baka madale naman :).

  76. You are right, John. Nagtampo si Erap when Lacson said, it’s not true na “kailangan ka magmano” kay Erap to be included in the list.

    Parang bata.

  77. chi chi

ystakei, i just finished reading Ellen’s column, jump agad ako sa blog, Anna’s comment was there na, when i touched submit…biglang nag-disappear ang item. isip ko ay baka naging Luli(bye)incident na nagkagulo-gulo. Hahahhaaha!

  78. Chi,

I’d rather wait and see. Ganyan kasi ang ginawa noong last year. Akala ko tunay na iyong impeachment because of the Garci tapes as evidences, pero napalpak.

  79. chi chi

Back to Erap, I cannot, for all my life, forgive Kiko “Noted”
Pangilinan-Cuneta!

  80. You bet, Chi. Hindi dapat iboto ang kumag na iyan. Mayabang lang ang mga iyan. Wala namang ginagawa!

  81. chi chi

Totoo ka, ystakei. This time, I was a newbie. hehehe!
I was disappointed with Lacson, too, when he terminated his Pidal expose without logical reason. Huh, parang pinaglaway lang niya ang mga pinoy na sumusubaybay, and then parang lightning rin na nawala. Something happened along the way?
The best person sana that happened to this fake administration was Gary Teves, but I still havent seen any tangible changes that merits applaud.

  82. Chabeli Chabeli

    Ystake,
I thought the Midget was the lesser evil than Erap during EDSA 2, only to my DISGUST that I find out, she was the WORST EVIL.
    ——————
Earlier I said that “the…politicians,…are once again, playing around–running in the opposition ticket, and then, when they win, they switch back to Gloria’s camp…” Who I had in mind was this Kiko Cuneta.

  83. chi chi

I don’t buy Erap’s “pinatawad ko na sila’. If a mistake or sin committed is repairable in a short or long term, it’s all right to forgive. But “Noted’s” sin is grievous, it is against the wish of the majority of the citizenry. PAGTATAKSIL IYAN SA BAYAN AT MAMAMAYAN!

  85. You bet, Chi! Plastik iyong “pinatawad ko na sila.” Kung ako sa kaniya, sisipain ko sila! 😛

  86. chi chi

I can’t forget the reaction of my sister when she first saw Lacson’s slogan “huwag matakot”.

  89. Hindipinoy,

You’ve just mapped out the various possible political scenarios starring some warring political lords in the Philippines. Havind done that, you know more or less what’s or who’s in store for one and all scenarios.

What or which would you choose knowing that if you don’t make a choice you will be contributing to a greater evil whichever way. So, tell us, what would you do? It’s easy to sit on the side undecided… would you take the tough route and choose from among them?

Or would you opt for one of the typical pagka-pinoy attitudes or sintomas and turn your back, be apathetic, and tell yourself, after all, they’re all the same so why bother?

Why not let us into your own wiser thoughts, you who aren’t Pinoy any longer?

  90. hindinapinoy hindinapinoy

    Anna,
First of all, I would like to express my appreciation for your interest in my views. And you have never accused anyone of being a paid internet brigade. You’ve earned my respect and more power to you. My thoughts…..

The political scenarios you’re trying to create here will only perpetuate the current situation. A different group will just take over. No matter how you shuffle the deck,
The kings and Queens will still come from the same deck of cards. Look, open your
eyes. I know you mean well fro the Philippines. I do too. I was a victim of Marcos’
Martial law and I’ve seen with my own eyes the evil of military rule.

Sad to say, but the only solution would be to throw away the old deck of cards INCLUDING everybody. I know. It’s not realistic. But that’s the only SURE way.

In my view, SHORT-TERM solution would be to wait till the current occupants of Malacanang’s tenure is over BUT, and that’s where the pinoys should be vigilant,
HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE for their corruptions. Document them. And when their term is over, the next administration should file cases against them RIGHT AWAY!, left and right, up, down, middle till their loot runs dry. Put them in jail. Have no mercy.

Why not now? We have witnessed EDSA 1 and EDSA 2 didn’t work. Another EDSA type of change will only make the Philippines a Bona Fide BANANA REPUBLIC. And I am afraid it will be bloody this time (military factions?). And the kings and queens will
Still be from the same deck. Who do you think should occupy Malacanang? Erap?, Susan Roces? Kabayan? Loren? Elections? Again, same kings and queens.

Bite the bullet if you must………………
Enrile, Honasan, Tatad, Lacson, Ermita, Marcoses, etc – the Marcos era gang should go.
Pick anybody that’s new. Party or affiliation doesn’t matter.
Pick anybody who is ‘harmless’ – even if they’ve done nothing. No harm no foul.

Still, the effort is futile. The ‘masa’ outnumbers the middle-class (the THINKING electorate) by a HUGE margin. And the ‘masa’ vote with their stomach. If not, based on previous trends, they will vote for the name they recognize – more than likely it would be a celebrity or worse, a trapo politician. I bet you, PACQUAIO will win hands down if ever he decides to run for ANY public office.

  91. chi chi

In conceding the Virginia race, Allen said the “THE OWNERS OF THE GOVERNMENT HAVE SPOKEN, AND I RESPECT THEIR DECISION.”

  92. florry florry

How do you solve a problem like Erap?

    *****

I have been saying that here, Chi. Over here in Japan, we have long recognized that we are actually the government, and the people whom we vote or work for us are our servants!!!

I can recognize a criminal (suspect, accused) when I see one.

I talked to my Mother about it.

IKAW KASI WALA.

Iho, vindicated ang mga Democrats, who opposed the Iraq war. The voters agreed with them.

Eh ang ‘united opposition’? Plain and simple destabilizers.

naku iho, marami ka pang kakaining bigas. you need to learn the basics of a good discussion.

    To anna de brux:

“Hmm…ok, so stop gassing! get cracking!”

On the ‘get cracking’ – Noted

“Gassing in this blog which you clearly despise will not get you anywhere…”

Agreed. (But I don’t despise this blog – only its blind trust in the ‘united opposition’) Who’s gassing, by the way?

  100. Anna:

I even know one who has volunteered to be one kaya labas pasok sa Malacanang.

The truth is I separate my advocacy with my business. I’m not in this kind of blog for example to look for prospects, but I surely I’m looking for people I can relate and work with in finding solutions to the problems of the Philippines. At least, I can enumerate a few that the groups I have supported have done successfully for the benefit of Filipinos like the stopping for example of the deployment of Filipino wannabe prostitutes to Japan or the sale of Philippine properties in Japan like the Roppongi property.

Mas walanghiya talaga ito sa lahat kasi bidding now is not done in Japan. Hopefully, may mga abogado na kaming kinakausap—Japanese lawyers for that matter who are willing to take the case of the people of the Philippines to the Japanese court which has also jurisdiction to try cases pertaining to the Philippine patrimonies in Japan. Libre ang serbisyo, Anna!

For that we really thank God Japan has evolved the way it is. Freedom? We have plenty of that here. I wonder if Atty. Roque will be interested to take up this case of the violation of the SC ruling on Philippine patrimonies as well.

Afterall, it’s not like nagging a partner :). We need two sides of the coin para may diskusyunan, matitira ang mas maganda ang ipinaglalaban.

  102. npongco npongco

Chi, you now seem to have replaced the role of Anna. It used to be Anna chit chatting with her Japanese comadre. Now, you seem to be enjoying the same. Anyway, good luck. Your comments and views are good. I hope others emulate you. Some people love to talk about themselves, the countries where they currently live and how good their people are often forgetting about the topics of the blog. It’s a waste of space here. But as they say, we can’t teach an old dog. For a woman, over 60 is considered old. If you have a mother aged 88, you’re most probably in your 60s.

  103. chi chi

    npongco,
I enjoy your comments, too!

C’mon, I noticed that you mention age from time to time. I can imagine that you are still much younger than some of the bloggers here, but don’t you forget this: Age is just a product of one’s mind, kalabaw lang daw ang tumatanda, as we pinoys say. Astrally or in heaven, there’s no such thing as age, iyan ang paniniwala ng nakararami. I believe the major factor why many pinoys living in the Philippines feel old is because of Glueria’s presence na problema ang nararamdaman ng mga tao.

And you know what? Based on the current age survey worldwide (baka hindi kasama dito ang pinas :), the age 65s of yesteryears are the 40’s now! So, you should feel good. If you are just 40 today, imagine balik ka sa iyong teen-age year! Ang swerte mo, di ba? Keep on making jokes, I like you better when you make jokes, like that Mama Mary one :).
Cheer up, we all belong to a BROTHERHOOD here. Sumingit nga lang ako kailan lang, but I really enjoy even the posts of the nuetral or nagpapa-neutral ones.
“One is only as old as he/she feels.” 🙂

Kaya I expect to live another 40 years. Wow! Even Marcos did not do that!

hindinapinoy:your analysis is quite exhaustive, but do you think we have reach the bottom of the pit? or maybe you donot believe there is any bottom.

  106. Here’s an article on Bongbong, Anna, that a distant relative of mine wrote for Inquirer:

Ilocos Norte Gov. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. still talks his father’s language in the world of politics. But Bongbong is the first to admit that he now lives in a different reality. He is, after all, no longer the spoiled son who would whistle-stop in the province only to play on its pristine beaches.

Now 48, Bongbong has been governor for seven uninterrupted years, thanks to a family name that many Ilocanos still revere and a style that constantly reminds them of the ousted president. Bongbong wears the same short-sleeved barong and black pants in official functions that his father was known for. In public appearances, he often quotes his father.

At one media briefing where he was asked whether he owned businesses in Ilocos Norte, for instance, Bongbong said he follows his father’s rule that he shouldn’t make money where he gets his votes.

Bongbong wouldn’t mask his sullenness over EDSA, though, describing it once as “nothing but a political power grab.” He had paid a steep price for it. “To be taken from the heights of privilege into exile and in the manner that we were treated [like a devil’s agent], of course, it changes you,” Bongbong told NEWSBREAK. “You have to grow up very, very quickly. Whereas you lived in one world before, suddenly you are in another world with a new set of rules and circumstances.”

Married to a bright lawyer, Louise Araneta, Bongbong is now a doting dad to three sons—Ferdinand Alexander, 11; Joseph Simon, 10; and William Vincent, 8—all born post-EDSA. The two youngest sons live with their parents in Laoag City while Ferdinand Alexander studies in England, where his dad lived for many years as an exile.

EDSA forced Bongbong to give up his privacy, live a less carefree life, and embrace politics, something that he never took seriously when his father was still in power. “When he came to Ilocos for a quick visit [before EDSA], either he was always in his van or he walked around with heavy security,” recalls veteran local journalist Juliet Pascual. On his first term as governor in 1998, he had to show that he could be taken seriously. He went to office every day and managed provincial affairs hands-on. But many say he has returned to his old life—preferring to stay home or travel abroad, leaving day-to-day affairs to his staff. “I seldom see him in the capitol,” says a Laoag politician.

His ambivalence toward a politician’s life notwithstanding, retirement is out of the question for now. His term ends next year and he is said to be eyeing Congress. In turn, his sister Imee, who will end her term as congresswoman, will run for governor. This is Marcos country, after all.

—with reports from Cristina Arzadon in Laoag City
    http://www.inq7.net

My impression of Bongbong was a quiet, apolitical youth. Pangiti-ngiti lang. He may be a spoiled brat when he was younger, but uncouth? I doubt.

  107. So, another Erap boy is now in Manila.

Golly, ano iyong DOJ,stupid? Gustong magkaroon ng trial by publicity hindi pa man?

Lagot si Lacson! Another way to attract him to turn coat? Kampi siya kay Bansot para lusot siya sa Kuratong, is that it? Kangaroo court nga!!! Pwe!!! 😡

    Makatulog na nga muna! Oyasumi!

  108. npongco npongco

Bongbong himself has a dark past. I don’t know if it’s true he killed a prominent figure’s son in UK while he was there as a student. I don’t know if it’s true he courted then Miss Aruba and beat up Victor Wood when the latter became his rival. I don’t know if it’s true he behaved like this Mikey Mouse Arroyo. I don’t know if it’s true he tried to avoid his counterpart, similar toughie Jackie Enrile. The two were at odds then. But between the two, the young Enrile is more notorious.

  109. npongco npongco

Chi, I’m not young. I may be the same age as you or many of the members here. But, I’m sure I’m younger than Ellen and Vic.

  110. chi chi

npongco, i wouldn’t want to speculate on age of anybody here. i would like to think that all of us are 18 years old in heart and body, hehehe! that’s how to stay physically young, npongco.

    HE SAYS
    Aldrin Cardon

    11/13/2006

So, why can’t we talk politics? Because Gloria, during one speech in Pasay, where she made sure the incumbent — Peewee Trinidad — won’t sit for long because he ain’t hers, says so.

Not at this time, when almost everyone who believes to have some political savvy draws some parallelism with the Republicans’ defeat to the Democrats in the US with the coming local mid-term elections where Gloria’s allies are also expected to receive a good battering.

Not at this time, when she ain’t sure yet whether the funds she’s asking from various sources — government and private — are all in, specially after one grumpy official of the Philippine National Oil Corp. (PNOC) squealed about GMA plans to siphon off some good oil money for the 2007 campaign. Now, if that’s legal, the guy would not have quit. Not at this time, when Gloria’s Cabinet is in disarray, she isn’t even sure if there would be good names left after the Hyatt 10 have flown the coop and lately, Avenilo Cruz Jr., took off his Defense hat and flicked the burden that is Gloria, off his shoulder.

George “Dubya” Bush believed he had a strong team to face the Dems. He was cocky sure his Iraq formula was a hit, especially after 9/11, when sentiment against international terrorism was high.

But Bush has gone too far and most Americans now believe gains from Bush’s war economy could not compensate for the lost lives of young Americans and the tilting of international opinion which now places Bush alongside Bin Laden.

The result was hard to accept for Dubya’s team. First to go was Rumsfeld, but he sure would be rewarded a slot, in the World Bank perhaps, in the future. These guys have a place in keeping poor countries in the Third World.

We are Third World, but we are parallel with the events that transpire in the US, World War II and 9/11 included.

If the Americans can junk Bush, then why can’t Filipinos junk Gloria?

Erap has an answer to that. The country’s ousted leader is sure to have an unbeatable team to face Gloria’s ragtag army in the mid-term polls, and if 2004 could be used as gauge, there is very strong chance Erap’s magic would work again.

Consider the names: Aquino and Marcos, Escudero and Cayetano, Honasan and Trillanes, a mixture of the old and the new, the conservative and the daring. Yet the team is full of promise and Jojo Binay is cocksure his unified opposition would duplicate the Democrats’ gain.

Gloria has another Mike to lead her team. Mike Defensor, however, had lost his game since he agreed to become GMA’s mounthpiece. As they say in basketball, Defensor may have some spunk in defense, but if he sucks in offense there wouldn’t be points for the Malacañang team.

I also wonder where all his youthful idealism had gone. My friends say I should disdain the day I shared a prison cell with this guy during his more lucid days, but I say it is history and trapos reveal themselves, no matter what.

There are many Defensors who have become apologists for the administration, but we have learned enough and learned so much not to believe them anymore.

Bush lied about Iraq. Gloria lied many times.

And if we are not going to talk about them now, then what is there to talk about?

Can we talk about the beauty of the sea? Or perhaps about the weather?

But our seas are black and the weather isn’t good, so we might as well talk about Gloria.

Or how’s it talking about Garci?

Gloria has prepared hard to keep us off the ballots in May next year, but she failed.

Bush brought tanks and planes and young soldiers to conquer Iraq and the world. He did not realize he’s gonna lose his war at home.

Gloria has no planes, no tanks and no young soldiers, either.

All that is left in her camp would be political discards.
