Aquilino Pimentel, Sen. Serge Osmeña, Sen. Tessie Oreta at Rep.

Pwede ba yun?

Ano, mamamangka sila sa dalawang ilog?

Unwelcome yang si Pangilinan sa akin for sure. Traydor to the highest degree.

  2. Chabeli - January 9, 2007 1:28 am

Joker Arroyo, according to an oppositionist will not run for the Senate. The Oppositionist has also said that because of his last name (which is Arroyo), he may suffer a backlash.

The reason Manny Villar went into politics in the first place was to protect his businesses that was being foreclosed by the banks. I know this for a fact. That is the reason why I did not put his name in a draft I came up with in another thread (January 8, 2007 at 1:35 am). MANNY VILLAR IS LOYAL TO MANNY VILLAR. When he impeached ERAP, he was protecting his interests. I’m 101% sure of that.

On the other hand, the loser of the lot is Kiko Cuneta-Pangilinan, or “Mr. Noted”. I agree with Ms. Ellen that, “Ang malaking problema talaga ay si Pangilinan.” He is a goner in my books ! His integrity was on the line each time he said, “Noted”, during the canvassing in ’04. Aside from Davide, siRAULo, KIKO CUNETA-PANGILINAN is one of the reasons WE HAVE GLORIA TODAY.

This now closes the issue saying namamangka siya sa dalawang ilog. Come to think about it, halos lahat ng pulitiko namangka ng dalawang ilog at one time or another. Marcos was with the Liberal Party. Hindi sila nagkaintindihan ni Macapagal because the latter didn’t keep his promise. Masakit talaga ang ginawa ni Villar kay Erap but Villar might have been pressured so much at that time. Notice his Angie’s silence. He never and seldom criticizes Erap and the opposition. That’s Erap’s weakness. Sobrang bait at malambot ang puso. Isang kiliti lang okay na sa kanya. It was this ugali that destroyed his presidency. You can ask Ms. Ellen Tordesillas about what I said.

  4. Chabeli - January 9, 2007 1:33 am

I remembered watching a show on ANC where RECTO was being interviewed. He said that he is not purely anti-Gloria & not purely pro-Gloria. I thought to myself, “What side is he on?”, or to put it aptly, “Ano, mamamangka sila sa dalawang ilog?” He should NOT BE VOTED !

  5. mandirigma - January 9, 2007 1:36 am

    FYI…

Any group but GMA camp; Erap OK vital — Villar

    By Angie M. Rosales

Any political party to align with for the May 2007 elections will do except for any Malacañang-led coalition.

In practically rejecting the Arroyo administration’s “invitation” for him to join its senatorial ticket for the mid-term polls, Senate President Manuel Villar Jr. yesterday said his group — Nacionalista Party (NP) — will not allow itself to be placed under the helm of the ruling Lakas-Kampi alliance even if “we may be a small party.”

  6. mandirigma - January 9, 2007 1:42 am

Kabayang Chabeli, you’re correct in your assessment of Recto. Katulad din iyan ni Kiko Pangilinan. But their wives are loyal to Erap. Unang-una, kapwa artista nila si Erap. Pangalawa, malayo at matagal na silang may pinagsamahan. I don’t know about Vilma Santos, Recto’s wife pero itong si Sharon Cuneta naapekto ang kanyang marriage kay Kiko dahil kay Erap. My source told me that they were in constant argument after Erap was ousted. Remember when Sharon visited FPJ in St. Luke’s hospital? FPJ fans allowed Sharon to enter but not Kiko. Kiko might be strong in the survey but we’re not sure of the outcome.

Chabeli, how very true: Manny Villas is loyal to Manny Villar and only to Manny Villar!

  8. ystakei - January 9, 2007 1:49 am

You bet, Chabeli, you can’t sail two rivers at the same time. It is more attuned to the Biblical challenge to all about choosing between God and Mammon. (Luke 16:13, Matt. 6:24) Problem is that Filipinos choose only between Satan and Mammon that practically are one and the same.

  9. ystakei - January 9, 2007 1:50 am

Forget about Recto. People should not trust this balimbing. He should in fact stop trying.

If Villar is loyal to himself alone, this Noted Kiko Cuneta is a see-thru Glueria!

  11. Toney Cuevas - January 9, 2007 1:59 am

Pilipino politic as usual! It’s of my opinion, no one can be trusted in politics and among other things in the Philippines. The only thing that matter in Philippines politics is the power of money, everthing else is secondary and for sale to the highest bidders. Of course, we know who got the resources. It’s a system that only exist through lying, stealing and killing. Honor and integrity as a human being has long been gone, so is fair justice. If it’s not the Arroyos it would be somebody else, e.g. Marcos, Aquino, Ramos, Estrada and now the worst of them all Gloria the Rapist, none come close to second. If we are to examine each one of them, none of them really worth 25 centavo. They have done nothing that realy meant to the populace, but to feed their egos and their appetite for greed.

Summarily, only names has changed, but the greed and corruptin still remain constant, the denominator. Same shit only different days and/or characters. Philippines politics is so unpredictable as the Saddam scud missiles. And the only thing we can be for sure are the people’s being deprived of their sovereign rights, not mentioning poverty and hunger of poor folks.

  12. anna de brux - January 9, 2007 1:59 am

Yuko, kailangan magtanim muna siya ng kamote. Tama ka at si Chabeli: Vote down Recto!

  14. Chabeli - January 9, 2007 2:02 am

Based on the comments I received in a previous thread, here’s a list of the possible Senatoriables. Again, I’d like to reiterate that not all of these Senatoriables have either formally announced their candidacy, or will run for that matter. Based on what Ms. Ellen says, Feb. 12th is the “deadline ng pag-file ng certificate of candidacy sa mga kandidato parasa sa national positions..” in which case, “marami pang pagbabago ang mangyayari sa mga listahan
    ng administrasyon at oposisyon.”

In the meantime, here’s Draft #2:

    1-J.R. Nereus “Neric” O. Acosta
    2- Alan Peter S. Cayetano
    3- JV Ejercito-Estrada
    4- Francis “Chiz” G. Escudero
    5-Roilo S. Golez
    6-Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson
    7-Loren B. Legarda
    8-Satur C. Ocampo
    9-Oscar “Pareng Oca” Orbos
    10- Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel, III
    11- Gilbert C. Remulla
    12-Gilberto C. Teodoro, Jr.

Imee Marcos (she was “absent” in the voting of first Impeachment of Gloria. Parang malabo yan para sa akin), I thought of inserting Cong. Gilberto C. Teodoro, Jr., kasi dapat may check & balance pa ren ang Senado. Hindi ren maganda kung 100% opposition. I remember that Cong. Teodoro wanted to oust then Chief Justice Hilario Davide. In hindsight, tama ang sulong nya. Davide was also the cause of this PHILIPPINE NIGHTMARE we have called, GLORIA.

  17. pakshet101 - January 9, 2007 2:06 am

Yang si Ralphot pra syang si Ate Vi — gagawin ang lahat makapanalo lang para sa kanilang interes (remember sabi ng kanyang esposa na tatakbo lang syang gobernadora ng Batangas kung siguradong wala nang ibang tatakbo, is this a case of handing down something on a silver platter just like the illegal occupant of Malacañang?).

Kulang na lang mag-impose sya ng kundisyon. Isa pang traydor tulad ni Senador Noted.

  18. pakshet101 - January 9, 2007 2:07 am

Joeseg of the three definitions of “Namamangka sa dalawang ilog” I’d say the third one ang mas nababagay lalo sa mga alipores ng bansot na puro amorseko ang laman ng utak.

  19. anna de brux - January 9, 2007 2:07 am

    Bakit “nababakla,” included Joeseg?

  20. Toney Cuevas - January 9, 2007 2:08 am

At least Philippines politics give us folks something to talk about, I guess that’s all good for. What this blog would be like without such devious characters of Philippines politics, I hate to even imagine. What else can be said about them politics, except it seems each one of them are getting richer by the minutes. They got more money safely stashed away in foreign banks more than the money in the Philippines treasury. If only I have my way…..

Partylist lang ni SiRaulo Gunggonzales, who is trying hard to crash the other partylist and calling them “Communists” kahit hindi!

On the other hand, Ocampo admits they were had by sweet talks by the Great Switik in supporting her power grab in 2001. Now, they are sorry they did.

FREE KA BEL! LET HIM FINISH HIS TERM AS ONE OF THE MOST HARDWORKING AND LESS PAID CONGRESSMEN!!! PATALISKIN NA, NOW NA SI GREAT SWITIK, BUGAW NA ASTA PROSTITUTA PA!

  23. mandirigma - January 9, 2007 2:42 am

Villar came from humble beginning. Yumaman iyan sa real estate. Nothing much was said about he acquired his wealth. It looked legit but we never know. I’m sure may kalokohan din iyan. But compared to other notorious personalities, medyo low profile si Villar. Tutoo, pumasok siya sa pulitika to protect his business. Sa kanya to protect his business (just like Enrile) pero ang mga iba pumasok para gumawa ng pera.

  24. Diego K. Guerrero - January 9, 2007 2:55 am

Political butterflies cannot be trusted due to their questionable loyalty and hidden agenda. They are the usual suspects as Malacanang agents in the opposition. Multi-party system in the presidential form of government is like halo-halo or labo-labo system. That’s why the so-called united opposition has the difficulty to settle political differences in its senatorial line up. How to form a common political platform with different ideologies and personal interests? The revival of two-party system may solve labo-labo in choosing candidates. The opposition should learn a lesson from 2004 presidential election. Angara and Lacson camps cannot agree for a common candidate against Gloria Arroyo that led to fragmented votes for the opposition.

Scenario: The problem in May 2007 election will be junking of candidates in the senatorial race. In case of Mr. Noted Pangilinan, FPJ supporters may remove his name in sample ballots and won’t vote for him. Senate President Manny Villar who is responsible for the speedy impeachment of President Erap may encounter the same problem. Most likely Erap supporters will junk him. Junking in the opposition line up may favor stronger administration candidates. Majority of Erap and FPJ supporters comes from low income bracket or the masa.

That’s the reason why nahihirapan sila makipag-alliance sa ibang grupo. The true opposition has sacrificed and sufferd a lot. It would be good to narrow down the list to those who are true opposition. Let’s set aside these questionable characters. But in politics, it’s all about compromise and strategic alliance. Talaga pong ganyan mga kabayan.

  26. joeseg - January 9, 2007 3:35 am

    2. Hindi makapag-decide: Sasama sa PEOPLE (UNO) o kay GMA”
In street lingo: ABS-CBN Channel 2 or GMA Channel 7?

Re-electionist senators Kiko, Ralph accused of electioneering

    http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/storypage.aspx?StoryId=62078

  32. pandawan - January 9, 2007 4:55 am

The late Senate President Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez said that Politics is Addition. So I guess Villar, Pangilinan, Recto, and even Joker may be included in the opposition ticket. Which for me means I will only have eight left to vote for Senator. Ok lang.

I cannot never vote for Villar, the memory of his ramming down Erap’s impeachment is too vidid in my mind; all I can do for Kiko is just to say “Ok, Noted.”; si Ralph ay wala sa kalingkingan ni Claro; at si Joker ay Joker talaga.

I hope no one in the administration ticket win and if I will have to complete 12 senatoriables to make this happen, I will.

  33. TonGuE-tWisTeD - January 9, 2007 7:11 am

Maisingit ko lang. Villar’s express delivery of the impeachment case to the senate simply expedited what was already inevitable. More than 120 have signed the petition and Erap’s boys may be blamed for allowing that to happen. He was merely being on the safe side of the rules.

Don’t get me wrong, I do not approve of an impeachment based on tall tales, especially those woven by a perjurious governor who claims his wealth came from a one-night game of mahjjong where he won 300 million pesos, wow! Villar may have even thought that Erap’s impeachment is doomed since Erap has the Senate majority with him. Let’s always be reminded that it was not the impeachment per se that was responsible for Erap’s ouster, it was Mike and Gloria’s scheming with the generals, businessmen, trapos and church, and later, even the supreme court, that did him in.

Villar’s recent actions, on the other hand, may be seen as a move to self-preserve. He knows Gloria’s kiss of death will not give him a second crack at the Senate presidency. But Erap’s blessings will. An inevitable senate majority by the opposition is not what any pro-gloria senatoriable-cum-senate-presidentiable would want. Plus, an imminent Gloria ouster may also prove more beneficial to him since president-in-waiting Noli De Castro may likely appoint him as his vice the day the bitch is removed. That’s why he has rejected the administration’s making passes at him this early.

Of course, he was a successful businessman. From a small mom-and-pop hardware store to one of the biggest property developers, Villar knows his management well. Maybe just what the Pinoys need today. Maybe an inspiration to jummpstart today’s superhero-worshipping Pinoys to get moving. I’m keeping an open mind about Villar. He’s #8 to #10 in my list.

Regarding the other Wednesday Group members? Nah, not even my longtime affiliation with the Cunetas, or Sharon, would make me vote for this opportunist, Kikay. Mang-gagamit, in short.

Ditto with Ralph Recto, who is presently spending millions in primetime advertising while circumventing the law on political ads. He was conspicuously silent during the Hello Garci episodes and in the other bigtime scandals. I only remember him towing the opposition’s line when the People’s Initiative came around. He was also Gloria’s pointman in promoting revenue measures that hit hard on the masses such as the EVAT, RVAT, among others, while keeping business virtually unscathed. Attention: Zenzennai Recto is not getting my vote.

Joker Arroyo is likewise a no-no. If Kikay and Sir Raul O. were noted for “Noted”, this joker deserves second (dis?)honors for making it very difficult for the objections and other manifestations of Oreta, Dilanggalen, Pimentel, and Eddie Villanueva’s Sal Panelo during the 2004 presidential canvass. He’s also a liar who thought he could deny his relation to the First Gentlepig at first but made a backward somersault (with two and a half twists) when a nosey reporter made a connection. I’ve always regarded Bicolanos as radicals and progressives, but not this type. He was always in Gloria’s side in major issues, displaying a bit of his self-touted “independence” only when the alternative was an unpopular, lost cause. He’s not getting any vote from my family, even if my mom is Bicolana.

Of the lineups that have been listed here, I seem to kinda favor that of Chabeli‘s – very Black and White, right Cha? I am surprised to find Gilberto Teodoro’s name there. He heads the House’s NPC bloc and that’s what they’ve done to the 2 impeachment cases, and Garci’s inestigation – “blocked”. Their impeachment of Davide was at the time viewed more as an arm twisting tactic to get even for his unfavorable decision towards Danding’s coco levy holdings. They’ve achieved getting more compromises from Gloria for Danding in that regard and they pulled out quick.

I personally like the inclusion of Roilo Golez, Oca Orbos, and Ner Acosta, though risky at this point. These men are known for principles. I especially espouse sacrifice as advocated by Orbos for all politicians. Golez, likewise has a stainless carrer in government, as Postmaster General during the corrupt Marcos years up to the time that he was still NSA for this most rapacious bogus president.

I do not know Acosta that well but I find him very intelligent, morally upright and consistent. I think I will have to agree with at least one candidate from the left, but I would prefer the younger Teddy Casiño.

    My own fearless forecast:

    1. Panfilo Lacson
    2. Loren Legarda
    3. Francis Escudero
    4. Allan Peter Cayetano
    5. Oca Orbos
    6. Roilo Golez
    7. Gringo Honasan
    8. Tito Sotto
    9. Manuel Villar
    10. Teddy Casiño
    11. Koko Pimentel
    12. Gilbert Remulla

    Waitlisted:
    13. Benigno Aquino III
    14. Nereus Acosta
    15. Koko Pimentel
    16. Etta Rosales
    17. Dinky Soliman
    18. Christian Monsod

This list is subject to change as the campaign goes on. Would love to hear your comments.

I hope that you will agree with me that “Action is better than Words” at sana hindi mangyari na “Action is bitter than Words”
    Hanggang dito na lang muna.

    Slip of the Tongue:

I listed “Koko Pimentel” twice. That’s because I am having second thoughts ‘cuz of the names listed, he’s the one I don’t know anything about except from info posted here by Ystakei and others.

Hey, if it’s anything, this is one method of cheating in the counting. Especially if the count happens when everyone in the canvass is sleepy. Some voters would list one name in the second or third then write again in the last or prior one. A sleepy tabulator wouldn’t notice at all.

  38. Para sa Kanto Mama - January 9, 2007 7:32 am

Ralph learned the ropes of politics from his dad Raffy Recto, a former assemblyman and loyalist/lawyer of Marcos. He must have read a lot about his lolo Claro but gold is thicker than blood. The Recto’s veered from the unbeaten path taken by the Tanada’s, the Diokno’s and the Constantino’s. If the old grand men of philippine politics would be invited from the afterlife, guess who’s not coming to dinner.

Allow me to answer your query to Ate Ellen.

Mayroon nang gumagawa ng paraan as you would like to know from Ate Ellen. Matagal na po kaming nakatungtong sa lupa. Not only we participated in protests rally and demo, we belong to a small group with some modest investments attending to the the marginalized sector who needs help. We were in the calamity areas in the aftermath of the killer typhoons helping the victims and whenever we deem our presence can contribute easing the pains and suffering of our kababayans.

So, we are scarce in words, but we take pride in our actions. We are doing it not only of the despicable governance of GMA but because we took it upon ourselves to share a little to those who have little in in life.

  40. TonGuE-tWisTeD - January 9, 2007 7:41 am

That’s fine with me, Anna. Although my choice is based on a couple of criteria, winnability being one of them, and extreme distrust as another, and of course, the intelligent choices, that makes me sure I’m not gonna hit 100% accuracy. I’m sure even the selecting group finds it difficult to balance which criterion gets priority.

I’m positive that everyone in my list is anti-Gloria. Look, the puppets of the Donya are saying that loyalty to Gloria is the main criterion.

Indeed, Ellen, “Si Gloria na ang Isyu”.

    TongueT,
Your list is okay but may I point out one thing.? I think the number 8 (Tito Sotto) should make way for a newcomer..
No offense to Mr Sotto but He surely would make a good manager/ supporter, if not a ‘political adviser’ to the final 12..
He can still be a political entity without entering the battlefield..In other words, his influence is magnetic even if he is not a senator..

  42. joeseg - January 9, 2007 7:53 am

    TonGuE-tWisTeD

Good combination you have there. Just a slight difference from my former list. But as you said, subject to change so as my list.

I would rather have Koko Pimentel instead of Tito Sotto and Antonio Trillanes instead of Gringo Honasan.

If Manny Villar will opt for a third party, Dinky Soliman could be it. But I wonder why nobody is batting for my bet from Mindanao, Dik Dilangalen.

  43. joeseg - January 9, 2007 7:55 am

    Apoy

We share the same view with Tito Sotto. Sabi ko noon pa, his 12 years of stint in the Senate is enough. He can be of help in the executive being a business manager.

  44. joeseg - January 9, 2007 7:58 am

By the way friends, Ate Ellen

I asked my cousin who is close to Mayor Jojo Binay go into our blog for himself or his aides to monitor our selections. They may get some ideas how are analyzing, assessing and giving comments on the senatoriables.

  45. apoy - January 9, 2007 8:05 am

A good name from the south should complete the magic 12 of senators..We need representation for our muslim brothers from the south..That should be the final catalyst..

A little way off the mark from si Gloria na ang Isyu.

In my previous postings, I’m asking what excuses naman kaya ang gagawin kung sakaling hindi na naman matuloy ang ASEAN Summit sa Cebu? Another typhoon?

Here’s some mixed news something is brewing.

    1. It may be all systems go for this week’s meeting of Asian leaders, but one of the main venues for the summit on the central Philippine island of Cebu is far from finished, a report by Agence France-Presse said on Monday.
As rain pelted down Monday, the roof of the new $11.2-million Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) did not leak as it did following the abrupt cancellation in December of the ADSEAN Summit.

    2. While the government says it is all systems go for the Jan. 10-15 meeting of leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, reporters Monday saw workers still hammering at some portions of the CICC.

At least the roof of the $11.2-million convention center, one of the main venues for the summits, did not leak when it rained Monday. It did last time it rained.

    3. REALLY READY?: If the fearful forecasts of pessimists are to be taken seriously, it looks like the government needs another super-typhoon to hit Cebu this week to justify the resetting, if needed, of the Asean and East Asia summit meetings set to open there tomorrow.

    4. And now, the latest from PAGASA.
PAGASA: Expect rains during ASEAN summit

Weather bureau PAGASA said Monday it expects rains in Cebu City for the duration of the 12th ASEAN Summit, ANC reported.

[Starting] January 10 or 11, expect this kind of weather condition to prevail for the next three to four days. We are providing special forecasts for Cebu specifically for Cebu City during the duration of the ASEAN summit,” said PAGASA chief weather forecaster Nathaniel Cruz.

  48. Ellen - January 9, 2007 8:50 am

Ralph Recto commissioned a survey (just for his own guide) that asked only two questions:

    1. Will you vote for him if he runs under the opposition ticket?

    2. Will you vote for him if he runs under the administration ticket?

In both questions, the score is almost the same. He has a good chance of winning whether he is with administration or opposition ticket.

That’s the reason why in his interviews, he says, he is neither administration os opposition. “I’m neutral,” he said. What’s that, no principle?

  49. TonGuE-tWisTeD - January 9, 2007 8:55 am

Langya ka, Spartan, Maga Star, wa-hahaha! As in maga ang mukha sa sobrang taba.

Joeseg, Apoy, for me Tito Sotto is my compromise vote. I’m just making up for the risk in putting too many neophytes in the list. The main consideration in Sotto’s case is winnability and not to mention I once was witness to his devotion to his work especially his anti-drugs crusade. We cannot all be idealists and let the inexperience of the youth solely determine the path for the future.

The trapo in me says Sotto is a good choice, the idealist says he isn’t.

Peks man.

    TonGuE-tWisTeD

Admittedly, Tito Sotto is a sure winner. First place siya first time he run and second to Loren Legarda, in his second term. Sa name recall lang, sigurado na. And nobody aamong the senatorial candidates will have a free campaign on TV but Tito, with Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon clowning just to get Sotto’s name pronounced in Eat Bulaga from Monday to Saturday.

I should know, kasama ako sa dalawang kampanya niya. We know him well but it hurt us when people, who don’t know him, are savagely criticizing him for being a mere comedian. Thanks you know his devotion to his work.

In our own circle, my stand is he should not run anymore to stop all those unfair criticism. He can serve well in other capacity.

Ralph Recto knows pretty well of his good chances in winning but n the topic, siya ang numero uno na namamangka sa dalawang ilog. But I doubt if he will cast his lot with the administration ticket. How can he parry to questions on important issues like Hello Garci, etc., when he should support the stand of the small big boss of the party. Sa third party naman, their drawback is the political machine to run the campaign nationwide especially in the grassroots. So, my reading is, there will no third party but independents will be many. But that’s up to February 12, the deadline of filing candidacy. Up to this moment, everything is speculative.

  54. cvj - January 9, 2007 10:08 am

If the survey scores are almost the same whether he goes admin or opposition, Recto should have taken that as a signal that he is free to follow his convictions. That he has chosen to remain neutral may mean that he doesn’t have any well-formed convictions. Alternatively, it may also mean that the approval scores he got from each side were too low and he needs the support of both camps to win. Either way, it’s not a good reflection on him in terms of trustworthiness or courage.

  55. joeseg - January 9, 2007 10:34 am

Ralph Recto is one of those who are eyeing their eyes to the presidency, some day soon. His number one advantage is bearing an illustrious name, Recto and number two is for having a celebrity and a topnotch movie star-cum politico as his wife. It’s part and parcel of a grandiose plan if things will not miscarry.

But his being wishy-washy at present time will not augur well for his dream of becoming a president some day. AS CVJ stated, his being neutral means he doesn’t have well-formed convictions. Which conveniently put him of being neither here or there and rightly so, parang wala siyang yagbols. Nababakla. Boating in two river of no return.

  56. mandirigma - January 9, 2007 11:01 am

There are many eyeing for presidency in 2010 not only Recto. The others are Villar, Gordon, Pangilinan, Legarda, Lacson, Noli de Castro, and would you believe even Jinggoy Estrada?

  57. zenzennai - January 9, 2007 12:00 pm

Thanks for the input, Tongue, re: Recto.

  58. Mrivera - January 9, 2007 1:13 pm

  59. Tiago - January 9, 2007 1:48 pm

Uulitin ko, if our purpose is to depose Glueria, we should start looking seriously at the congressmen level. This is where the action starts, mapa-impeachment or retoke ng saligang batas man.

Chabeli, your list consists of fine gentlemen who can get the job done, unfortunately, knowing how our kababayans vote, there is a question of winnability.

I like Tongue’s list as well. Except for Mr. Sotto. Nothing personal.

  60. kitamokitako - January 9, 2007 2:30 pm

Definitely, we will not vote for:
    a) Kiko ‘NOTED’ Pangilinan
    b) Recto, the son of the only Recto who is not Claro, is sigurista
    c) Joker Arroyo, He is often referred to by Ninez Olivares as the ‘dishonourable shit’ because of his conduct, statements and whatever no good he did in the senate. He did nothing significant as senator and chairman of the blue ribbon committee, that i know of. He protected the PIDALs in the ‘Alam ba Toh ni Mrs’ expose of Lacson.

  61. isabel - January 9, 2007 4:22 pm

  62. Chabeli - January 9, 2007 5:34 pm

TonGuE-tWisTeD, EXCELLENT comments & analysis ! I LIKED it a lot! Hee hee hee, I am, by nature, “very Black and White”, TonGuE-tWisTeD !

I expected that there would be at least someone who would be “surprised to find Gilberto Teodoro’s name..” on the list. I just thought he would be a better alternative to Rep. Imee Marcos. What I was not aware of was the that the real reason behind the impeachment “of Davide was..viewed more as an arm twisting tactic to get even for his unfavorable decision towards Danding’s coco levy holdings. They’ve achieved getting more compromises from Gloria for Danding in that regard and they pulled out quick.” In my opinion-in light of having a check & balance in the Senate- we should pick ANOTHER pro-Glo. It is better than one who will be playing both sides !

As a WARNING, we should also not be deceived by the so-called “Third Force.” Behind this group is someone by the name of GLORIA.

All things being fair & square, any Senatoriables winning from Gloria’s ticket would be between 1 to 3 ONLY. IF there are more than 3 that win in Gloria’s ticket, it can oly spell C-H-E-A-T-I-N-G !

  63. Diwata - January 9, 2007 5:41 pm

    Manong Mandirigma, Joese, Mrivera at Ate Chi;

ALIS DIYAN MAY KILITI AKO DIYAN!

  64. Mrivera - January 9, 2007 6:51 pm

  65. chi - January 9, 2007 10:02 pm

Dream team ng oposisyon, buo na.

Lacson, Legarda, Sotto, JV, Chiz, Koko, Kiko Noted, Noynoy, Villar, Vilma Recto, Allan Peter, Joker

    http://www.abante-tonite.com.ph/issue/jan0907/main.htm

  66. mandirigma - January 9, 2007 10:09 pm

Good question, Kabayang Diwata. You’re partly correct in saying that President Erap wanted to get rid of Arroyo. Even the Communists and their sympathizers joined all the groups in ousting Marcos and Erap. After ousting them, sila-sila naman ang nag-away at nag-aaway pa rin hanggan ngayon. That’s also what’s going to happen with these people forgiven by Erap. But in reality, that’s his nature even when he was still a movie star.

  67. Diwata - January 9, 2007 10:23 pm

    Mrivera,

ALIS DIYAN MAY KILITI AKO DIYAN!!!!

  68. Mrivera - January 9, 2007 10:40 pm

  69. johnmarzan - January 9, 2007 10:49 pm

i’d like to draft randy david for senator.

  70. joeseg - January 9, 2007 11:16 pm

    Manay Chi,

Ikaw ha, isinama mo si Vilma Recto, dapat instead of Kiko Noted, should be Sharon Pangilinan!

    Johnmarzan,

I’m a long time fan of Randy David. When he was on television, I wouldn’t miss an episode of his broadcast. The problem is, he shun politics. Gusto lang niya on the sideline with his in-depth analysis of events and go for what’s the truth. We need people like him, but unfortunately, ang mga katulad niya ang ayaw sa gulo ng politics.

Mrivera, Mandirigma, Kitamokitako, CVJ, Tiago and the rest, we certainly have our own versions and approach of who should run to topple the pretender to the throne and it’s welcome. Wika nga ay may kanya-kanyang manok. But the ultimate goal is like Diwata is always saying or singing:

Alis dyan, may kiliti ako dyan!

  71. chi - January 10, 2007 12:09 am

Noted, joeseg! Can’t forget “noted”.

Yeah, Randy D is sayang. I like him pa naman na ipalit kay Joker!

  72. mandirigma - January 10, 2007 12:15 am

Randy David is a nice grandpa. Mahal na mahal niya ang kanyang apo. He used to be anti-Erap and pro-Arroyo. Like the many others, nagbago ang position. There’s nothing wrong if one changes his position. David is Arroyo’s kabalen. If I were him, I would run first for Congress. Kayang-kaya niya ito.

  73. joeseg - January 10, 2007 12:35 am

    Mandirigma

Maybe some people like us who like Randy David are already thinking or actually approached him to run but he declined. Kasi dapat ngayon pa, alam na natin kung tatakbo because of the nearing deadline for filing of candidacy. A seat in the House representing QC where he lives could be ideal. He teaches at UP and could go on part time.

    Sayang talaga, Manay Chi.

  74. mandirigma - January 10, 2007 12:52 am

A normal practice would be just to file candidacy. Puwede naman mag-withdraw o umatras later. Maraming ganyan. Many are the so called nuisance candidates. But of course that’s his decision.

  75. anna de brux - January 10, 2007 1:14 am

John, I agree but does the man want to run?

  76. Ellen - January 10, 2007 1:24 am

    Something on Tito Sotto:

In 1997 (or was it 1996?), he was dragged into a drug issue involving a member of his staff. I have written about the case and I can say for sure that i was not true.

Niyari siya ng tao ni FVR. I suspect Guingona also had something to do with it.

If you remember, at that time Sotto was high in the popularity list and touted to be a runaway winner for vice -president. Remember, Gloria Arroyo and he formed Kampi?

Guingona was eyeing the vice-presidency for Lakas. FVR’s people did the operation on Sotto, whose fault I think was not running a tight ship in his office.

There was this guy ( i forgot the name). Tipong hustler who offered to help in Sotto’s anti-drug program. It turned the guy is involved with a drug syndicate. Sotto was burned big time.

I’m not impressed with Sotto as a legislator (Jinggoy is performing better). But he is not corrupt.

His popularity rating is good, so that should be a plus for the opposition.

  77. mandirigma - January 10, 2007 1:33 am

You were referring to a certain Tiongco, a drug lord. Maaring tutoo ang sinabi mo, Ms. Tordesillas. But do you know Sotto doesn’t come clean either? Madilim din ang nakaraan niya. His notorious combo group in the 60s called “Tilt Down Men” got involved in many troubles. Parang gangster. But that was past. Past is past. Sotto has now proven to be a good family man.

  78. anna de brux - January 10, 2007 1:49 am

Oh Ellen, speaking of Tito Guingona, he was also involved in the AFP procurement when he was FVR’s exec secretary – heh! Don’t trust this guy. He’s uugod ugod na but he is sharp when it comes to the clinking of silver dollars!

  79. mandirigma - January 10, 2007 2:05 am

Tama po iyon, Ms. Tordesillas. Just look at Guingona’s eyes and you would know what he’s thinking of. But now, he’s in the arms of the loving Erap. Ay naku po itong si Erap…

  80. mandirigma - January 10, 2007 2:07 am

I meant Ms. de Brux. Pasensiya na po sa mali. Pareho ang style mo kay Ms. Tordesillas. Age is not a factor why Guingona should not run. It’s his political position and character.

  81. joeseg - January 10, 2007 2:12 am

    Ate Ellen

For vp na sana siya noon with GMA when they formed KAMPI with Peping Cojuangco. Niyari siya sa issue ng drugs but he was exonerated by being re-elected in 1998 second to Loren Legarda.

The first time he run for senator, he topped the first 12 whose term will be for 6 years. GMA got the 13th slot of the last 12 which will only serve for three years. After 3 years, GMA run now sporting the Nora Aunor look alike in all her posters. She topped that elections and geared for the presidency with Tito Sotto. Sensing that she cannot get by Erap, she instead run vp candidate of JDV who was clobbered by Erap. The rest is disaster.

As for Tito Sotto running again, he’s a sure winner being the only candidate who has a free TV advertisement from Monday to Saturday at Eat Bulaga. Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon while just clown their way, nakasingit na ang pangalang Sotto.

But I posted here that his 12 years stint at the senate is enough na. Iba naman. He could be of help in other appointive position. It will end to the criticism that he’s a mere comedian which is not true.

  82. mandirigma - January 10, 2007 2:18 am

As I said, Tito has changed since his days as a member of the Tilt Down Men combo group of the 60s. The only problem that I see even if it’s minor is his relationship with Senator Lacson. Sotto sided with Angara which he now deeply regrets.

  83. joeseg - January 10, 2007 2:27 am

One more thing for Tito Sotto.

Rarely are or who used to be in the showbusiness have no stories to tell, good or bad. But when Tito Sotto became a public servant starting as the Quezon City vice mayor, he served well. Siya lang siguro ang isang vice mayor lamang ang naging senador sa and topping it in the first try.

He could have easily jumped ship when Erap’s boat sunk following the likes of Drilon, Villar, Recto, Jaworski Defensor-Santiago and many others. But he didn’t inspite of GMA’s invitation. He stayed stayed and aligned himself with those who are opposing GMA.

Why I am telling this? I’m a friend.

  84. chi - January 10, 2007 2:50 am

Ellen & Anna, thanks for the info re Sotto and Guingona.

Joke only!

  86. mandirigma - January 10, 2007 3:06 am

I agree kabayang joeseg. We also never hear him flirts with other women unlike his younger brother Vic. His loyalty? Subok na iyan. He’s a true and loyal friend. Angara’s political career has ended. All he could wish and hope for is for Arroyo to appoint him to her cabinet na talaga naman niyang hinihingi noon pa.

  87. joeseg - January 10, 2007 3:29 am

    Manay Chi,

They might have visited President Erap in Tanay then sang and danced for him.

  89. joeseg - January 10, 2007 3:41 am

Bakit ba naging Manay Chim yon, Manay Chi sorry po, wrong typwriter.

    Mandirigma

All I know, nag-patch na sila ni Ping Lacson.

No vote sa amin sina Kiko Noted Cuneta, Vilma Recto.

Kabayang Chi, you’re like one religious sect that I know na kapag dala ng isa dala ng lahat. Recto is his step dad while Edu is his biological father. Sino ang ikakampanya niya. Who’s stage would he climb up to endorse? Good for them.

  93. TonGuE-tWisTeD - January 10, 2007 7:02 am

Yes, I thought listing Tito Sotto would cause a stir. But believe you me, Ellen was right when she said Tito Guingona, then Senate Chairman of the Blue Ribbon used a small oversight by Sotto’s staff to take samples of the shabu evidence that his TV program to discredit him and what is there that is more devastating than linking him to the drug trade which is the main target of his crusade. Jessica Soho was part of the show and that stunt by Guingona did not at all affect both Sotto’s and Soho’s credibility.

The other controversies that have been thrown at him suffered the same fate. Like that of the Pepsi Paloma rape-suicide case which was later found to be caused by drugs and the sufferings she had to endure under her exploiter/manager/pimp, Dr. Rey dela Cruz.

Or that of his alleged lovechild with starlet Angela Luz. As rumors have it, Vic had to claim the child as his own to save Kuya Tito, who was entering politics at the time, from his political opponents. Of course, it’s Vic’s child.

When someone is squeaky clean, enemies usually hit you where it hurts most, like that in the drugs case and these supposed secret affairs.

    Slip of the Tongue:
Ellen was right when she said Tito Guingona, then Senate Chairman of the Blue Ribbon used a small oversight by Sotto’s staff to take samples of the shabu evidence that his TV program, with the court’s necessary permission, will take footages of, to discredit him…

Tutal na pag-uusapan ang mga artista.Ito balita tungkol kay Nora Aunor believe it or not

“Sorry I can’t make it, I wanna stay in Los Angeles. Did you get the hand-carry bag? I sent it thru my new PA.

If things will favor some candidates in the senate, it will really make it a strange place of family reunion.

    1. Lucky Manzano could be the luckiest young man, halimbawang manalo si Ralph Recto at Edu Manzano bilang senador. A dad and an uncle-dad.

Mabuti hindi na tatakbo si Loi at kung tumakbo at malamang manalo, there’s a mother, a son and a salamagan.

    3. Assuming na manalo si Allan Peter Cayetano, dahil nandoon pa si Pia, a brother and a sister.

Last time, it was Ramon Revilla and his son-in-law, Bobby Jaworski. Mabuti hindi sila nagpang-abot ni Bong Revilla. Disin sana, tatlo rin sila, a father and son and a son-in-law.

  97. chi - January 10, 2007 9:54 am

    joeseg,

Pinas politics and showbiz, kambal din.

  98. joeseg - January 10, 2007 10:13 am

    Naku Manay Chi,

Yup nelbar. You hit it right!

  103. Chabeli - January 11, 2007 1:41 am

Taken from Jan. 10 issue of INQ7:

“..the administration is determined to include members of the so-called “Wednesday group” in its senatorial line-up, a ranking official of the ruling Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats said on Wednesday. The “Wednesday group” is composed of Senate President Manuel Villar, Senators Joker Arroyo, Ralph Recto, and Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.
Bukidnon Representative Juan Miguel Zubiri, secretary-general of Lakas, told INQUIRER.net that the administration was trying to convince the four senators to join them. “We’re still trying to court them. We are making several efforts to convince them to join our line-up,” Zubiri said in a phone interview. He could not say however whether there were concessions involved in the negotiation because the presidential adviser for political affairs, Gabrielle Claudio, was doing the talking for the administration with Villar’s group.”

Wooing Manny Villar, Joker Arroyo, Ralph Recto, & Kiko Cuneta-Pangilinan to join the Administration’s ticket is a bad sign. What it seems like is that there are no takers for these 4 Stooges; & it also seems that the Administration cannot come up w/ their Magic 12 & have resorted to desperate measures by settling for the crumbs. Tsk..tsk..tsk..

  104. chi - January 11, 2007 2:35 am

No way din these 4 stooges in my group, Chabeli. heheh!
Hirap nga akong magpuno pa sa 12. Oopss, tatlo lang pala. Trillanes is here na!

Hirap magbenta ng mga sarili, buti nga.

  105. Mrivera - January 11, 2007 1:26 pm

Kiko out, Recto in sa Dream Team (Rey Marfil)

Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, ex-Senator Loren Legarda-Leviste, Senate President Manuel Villar Jr., Cong. Alan Peter Cayetano, Cong. Noynoy Aquino, Cong. Chiz Escudero, Atty. Koko Pimentel III, ex-Senator Tito Sotto, ex-Senator John Osmeña at San Juan Mayor JV Ejercito.
