Esperon in suit in a military activity shocks other officers

I got this message from an officer who was flabbergasted seeing AFP Chief of Staff Hermogenes Esperon in a suit during the thanksgiving dinner in Malacañang in honor of military officers and men involved in the killing of Janjalani and Abu Solaiman.

The CSAFP attending military occasions wearing “Amerikana”, not his service uniform. Wow, class!

Here’s the picture in the Inquirer we reproduced without their permission.

Anna, Esperon is just getting used to the Amerikana as he is preparing for the evil one’s appointment after he retires.

    Schumey,

Spot on! But he was making bastos of an official AFP thinggy! Imagine, the chief of staff (daw) of the AFP attending an official ceremony in a civilian suit?

Bastos talaga ang put&çà§ç!çà!§ç!’na na yan!

Yup, I cannot imagine the CS wearing civis in an official military function. Never have I seen a “general” like him. Like his master, pati ang AFP ay binabastos niya. Sundalong kanin pala talaga ang isang ‘to.

January 26th, 2007 at 10:16 pm (Edit this comment)

Could you imagine General Colin Powell wearing civis when he was Chief Joint Staffs?

He would have been roasted alive!

Esperon and Gloria are two of the most BASTOS people the Philippines ever had at the helm.

Once a commander of the PSG, he may still think that his duty is to protect the bogus one. Bobo talaga, ang alam ko, his duty is to God, flag and country, not to a masquerading president.

Know what? Much as I am for a civilian govt, everytime I read of these scalawaggings in the AFP as per Gloria’s instructions and her oink oink husband, I start wishing for General Lim to bolt out of prison, to lead the troops and throw out Gloria and her government of MISFITS into Manila Bay.

Even retired officers are proud to wear their uniforms. I suppose his heart was never into soldiering but more of a security guard. Dapat diyan, batuta ang hawak. And his line should be: “NO ID, NO ENTRY”.

Binabastos at binababoy na talaga ni Esperon at ni Gloria ang military institution sa Pinas.

No Anna, not the Manila Bay! They will just pollute the waters. They should be buried in a pit for toxic wastes. Lalong malalason ang ating karagatan. They’re worse than a fallout and oil spill combined.

Ellen, didn’t any of the senior officers (or even classmates of cretin Esperon) have the courage to tell him to change into a military uniform (less the stars)?

The recent successes “kuno” by the military is just another pa-pogi by the administration in preparation for her Davos trip. Of course the pandak would like to smell good when she meets the bigwigs in Europe. Notice how the ASG leaders were bagged just a few days before she left? I’m sure the soldiers knew from the start where to get these bandits but were asked to just hold back until the evil one’s trip. They’ll wait again for the right time to get the JIs this time. I’m thinking closer to the elections this time around.

Don’t know much military protocol, Anna, but the Unano being bastos? You bet, she is. It was why I thought I could not support this creep.

In 1991 or 1992, she came to Japan to solicit help, financial and otherwise, and demanded for a visit to the emperor even when she was here on a private visit after she met with overstaying Filipinos who were breaking Japanese laws and considered as criminals, something that the more proper Thais would not do.

The meeting apparently was not granted, but what was creepy was her claiming and announcing the lie that she was friends and classmate with Bill Clinton, who was an unknown when he was in Georgetown and to think that the Unano was not even considered a regular student there.

Talagang may tupak sa ulo! Bastos of the first degree ang hinayupak!

    Schumey,

The Unano is expecting Bush will congratulate her for the death of the Moslem guy who was caught literally with his pants down kasi tumatae when he was spotted by the sundalong kanin. I doubt if Bush will, especially when US spies report that the guy must have been merely framed up sabay kuwento ng tumetembong pa ang pobre nang barilin! Ngek!

    Yuko,

Those twins, the bogus commander in chief and her chief of staff armed forces of supots don’t even have to know military protocol completely. It’s a question of respect of the troops for their chief of supot to wear appropriate regalia in an official function.

It’s as if he was wearing a bikini in front of Japan’s emperor!

Ano ba naman yan! Supot na sa baba supot pa rin sa itaas!

Ellen, I just accessed it – Wow! Tanga talaga!

Ermita can and should be in civis because he’s retired. He can don his amerikana anytime and can re-wear his military regalia only during official commemorations for veterans, etc.

But this supot of Esperon! The entire platoon seated around him should have poured dog shit on his head.

He could have ordered Supot Esperon to change into something appropriate!

    anna de brux Says:

January 26th, 2007 at 11:12 pm (Edit this comment)

Supot Esperon shouldn’t have been in the picture – totally inappropriate to be among your fighting officers and troops in his supot uniform – unacceptable!

Ellen, that wouldn’t have HAPPENED EVER in any of the European militaries, not even in the Swiss military.

Esperon is getting ready for next Patronage Appointment from her Majesty upon retirement, or maybe resigning to take a juicy Cabinet post, or ambassadorial posting. That’s why he is already getting used to dressing like one. Obvious naman…

  4. I would have tolerated supot Esperon wearing the Igorot G-string in an official function but with the native gear or weaponry… Bastos!

  5. Ellen,

I just downloaded the Inquirer front page and will have prints. Why? Well, just in case supot Esperon comes to France or to England to attend the forthcoming defence shows, I will make sure a nice, clean, well-printed copy of his kabastusan will be on display.

I will be in those forums anyway – heh!

  6. Ha!Ha!Ha!

  7. If he comes over, one of the guys he will be surely meeting is a former Chief of Army, UK who stands a ‘measly’ 6’5… I will have warned him about Esperon the corrupt chief supot of the AFP.

Of course Ellen, “Serious breach of military protocol pala yun?”

I sympathize with the military officer who sent you the message. Tell him to resign na lang and to join the Western mercenary outfits in Afghanistan. Even mercenaries observe protocol!

  10. chi chi

Whhhhyyyy is Asoperon in a suit in a military function? Is he and Tandang Edong expect to handshake with Bush over the phone, if ever he would make a long distance call? Bwahahahah!

Even an ordinary pinoy like me knows that it’s kabastusan for this super security of Dirty Mama G to wear Americana in a military function, kahit kodakan lang!

On the other hand, Esperon nga pala is now chief of “a bunch of bounty hunters and mercenaries.” In that capacity, meron siyang karapatan na magsuot ng americana! BoooooBooooooo!!!!

  11. Chi, dapat ibigti iyang si Esperon supot with his own tie!

  12. chi chi

“even when an ordinary soldier (non-officer) is indicted for murder, he still wears his uniform… ”

Oo nga Anna, I remember the Am soldiers who tortured naked Iraquis, and the photos made it to the internet. The whole duration of their court martial law proceedings, they wore complete ‘crispy’ military uniform, kahit na iyong buntis na girlie soldier.

  13. Ellen, I just texted FVR – hehehe! told him he should give supot esperon a piece of his mind.

  14. Chi,

It’s simple lang naman ang dress code… an active trooper in military service should be dressed in the appropriate military whatever during a military occassion, especially for the chief of staff of the military even if he is supot!

  15. Kung ayaw niyang mag-change into a uniform for the kodakan, di huwag siyang sumali sa kodakan to show a bit of respect for those other troopers and not to shame the AFP vis a vis the world militaries, particularly when it’s published on front page of a major broadsheet.

  16. Maybe he’s ashamed of the AFP because he’s turned it into bounty hunters for the Americans and for Gloria.

  17. Wonder what FVR will say with his boy, Esperon.

  18. Ellen,

Inquirer banner: “‘No military rescue for
    hostages’–RP to Nigeria ”

Of course not! Not with this military headed by supot Esperon.

The Nigerian kidnap mercenaries are some of the fiercest in the world, pitting Esperon against them will be a massacre for the AFP.

Those Nigerian kidnap mercenaries will make mince meat of Esperon and his kasupotan.

  19. chi chi

Poor, poor Pinas! Pinamumunuan ni Dirty Mama G at Asoperon who have no knowledge whatsoever of their official functions!

  24. You know Jay, when I see these anomalous military practice even in appearance, I’m reminded of Sierra Leone’s armed forces.

Supot Esperon is hell bent on spitting on the armed forces of the Philippines.

  25. A nation’s military is a reflection of its leaders who are the highest echelons of power.

I don’t despair though because we still have a few, not many but enough good officers to put things right in the military. Of course, many of them are incarcerated.

The problem is a military institution en toto gets criticized for the abominable conduct of their leaders.

Really sad that among the 120,000 members of the AFP, they have to be led by a supot!

  31. Btw, is the piece on the website, Jay?

  32. Chabeli Chabeli

It is precisely actions like this (Esperon wearing an “Americana”) that make people disrespect an institution. In this case, how can officers &/or civilians respect the military when it’s so-called leaders cannot even follow proper decorum or protocol, yet “demand” to be respected.

In the same way, the gall of the PSG to appeal to the President’s critics to respect the Office of the President.

Respect is earned. It is not demanded.

Kung nag papabastos ang isang tao, what do you think will the response be ?

  33. jay cynikho jay cynikho

Hindi dapat magtaka kayo dahil si Ermita sanay mag civvy. Expert siya in sheep’s clothing noong nasa OCR pa siya ni Marcos.

  34. Jay, not only that but Ermita IS ALREADY retired and is NOT expected to don a military uniform.

  35. Totally agree Chabeli “In this case, how can officers &/or civilians respect the military when it’s so-called leaders cannot even follow proper decorum or protocol, yet “demand” to be respected.”

The rest of the military particularly the good elements get the brunt of the disrespect, awful, just awful!

Of course no-no anna. General Dallaire asked Permission from his superiors to launch a pre-emptive stike against the plotters and troops that were clearly and imminently planning to commit the Genocide that was the now known the Rwandan genocide, but the people up there who had no ideas what’s was going on the field, veto his plans. 45. Ellen,

I seldom access PCIJ and this is the second time in almost a year…

I found this “30-YEAR-OLD C-130S ANYONE? by MALOU C. MANGAHAS”

That deal involving Locheed Martin and Asian Aerospace was responsible for the waylaying of the AFP Modernization Board finetuning PAF specs.

Benjie Defensor, former PAF chief and CSAFP is not being truthful when he said that the deal is an advantage to the government. 30 year old C130s?

First, he fought for the vintage Vietnam wartime aircraft F5s and was prepared to have an exchange deal with the Taiwanese, i.e., by letting them use Philippine air space and ground for Taiwan Air Force training, saying that the F5s were cheap at 1 million dollars a piece. And now C-130s?

I know Peter Rodriguez supplies him and his family with Proton cars but by golly, why insist on a useless program?

For a former combat helicopter pilot, he’s mad to even consider C-130s older than him…

  49. Ellen, friends, and military officers reading this blog.

I just showed the Inquirer picture of the gathering of troops in an official pose with their chief wearing civvys to a European military officer …

Am sorry but the simple comment was an indictment: “Filipino chief of armed forces? What can you expect? Second rate military!”

  50. This is the comment that will be on the mind of military officials that Esperon will be meeting if or when he attends the defence shows in Europe.

Ah alam ko na, baka may mantsa ng itlog yung uniform ni Eperon at wala ng reserba kaya nag amerikana muna.

  54. Ellen, if the Philippines is really dead set on acquiring those old C-130s, they should and must ask Lockheed Martin for a 15-year guarantee.

The airframe of those 30yr old C-130s are extremely old and ‘worn out’.

If Lockheed refuses to provide that kind of guarantee, (which I’m sure they won’t given the age of the airframe), then Pinas MUST NOT DO IT or you risk to have flying debris all over – hehehe!

  55. Ellen,

30 year old airframes are a risk even if the aircraft looks in good nic.

Aircraft of that age have a higher risk in terms of cost of repairs, upgrade, etc than a 30 year old naval hull.

Lumang tugtugin as a matter of fact. Dating gawain. They were doing it, too, when the PX at JUSMAG was open to Philippine military, too. Gawa nila iyan kahit saan, where they can enter the US commissaries. Dito nga naiskandalo din sila for hoarding California rice and selling them to Filipinos outside the US bases!

  63. What modernization are they talking about buying 30-year-old planes that would even need to be overhauled. Gago din ha?

  64. Schumey:

An acquaintance of mine was talking about these balikatan exercises, and told how the Americans make sure of their new gadgets not being stolen by the Filipinos. After a day of exercises, they account for each and every new gadget used, no touch by Filipinos, not even when they fall down like those new choppers supposed to be tested for combat in Iraq. Remember the chopper that fell off the sea at Cebu 3 or 4 years ago?

At saka, kailan ba nagbigay ng bago ang US sa Pilipinas?

  65. Jay,

Sorry to shatter your impression of Gen de los Santos. He was assigned to the peacekeeing forces vis a vis the Tamuls (also in Indonesia???? not sure) because the Board of Generals then didn’t know where to put him – his classmates who were dominating the Board knew that he was useless, he was a bit simple (in the mind) so, when the job came along, they dumped him there to get rid of him.

Of course, the public didn’t know that and de los Santos was saved from being floated. And everybody thought he was great. His own classmates were laughing about him.
He’s lucky he got to the star rank.

  66. Jay,

PMAers are like the military mafia. They protect each other and can count on their mistahs who get to the top first to help in their military career.

For instance, all members of Class 62 who remained in active service till they retired from military service for instance, all became GENERALS with no exception. Class 62 who could boast of having had 2 chiefs of staff – Gen Boy Abadia and General Enrile – made sure that all their members serving then WOULD BE A GENERAL WITHOUT EXCEPTION to the detriment of some more deserving officers (the slots for a star rank for instance is limited to a certain number so that if one who is not deserving gets promoted, the next one who is perhaps more deserving has got to wait till the slot is freed, i.e., one officer’s gone to retire).

I remember two of the members of Class 62 who remained at the bottom of the list, one of whom (from the Air Force but I won’t mention his name coz, he was frankly a dear although a bit “simple”, i.e., in the mind) General Abadia made sure, they were gonna be promoted to star rank at all cost.

The one from the Air Force – classmate of Abadia and Enrile – actually failed the interview portion with then Brig Gen Arnie Acedera who was the lower classman (Class 63) but got his star first because he was close to FVR (personal pilot of his).

Acedera like to tell the story how he humiliated his upperclassman who was still an Air Force colonel. The poor guy was livid and kind and gentle as he was, used to curse Acedera whenever I reminded him of the story . Heheh!

Ellen, this story can be confirmed by some of your readers from the Air Force.

And Jay, let me add that although they help each other, there are animosities too but that’s buried when unity is needed to show force. One of the PMA classes that hated each other or at least many hated 2 or 3 of their mistahs is Class 69. General Nazareno CAN’T STAND Angie Reyes!

  67. Oooops, I meant Class 66 not 69!

Angie Reyes and J. Nazareno are from Class 66; Benjie Defensor, Joey Syjuco are from Class 69!

  68. Amiral Wong and Admiral Domingo (of the Trillanes’ papers’ fame) are from Class 69.

  69. Class 74 are the most disappointing, unprofessional, corrupt generals of their generation!

  70. Class 59 are the most professional and the least corrupt!

  71. Class 63 (Arnie Acedera) are, never mind!

  72. Class 72 are alright – they tried to do their best.

  73. Class 81 and 82 are hopeful but… not under this Esperon shit.

  74. Class 61 had excellent military officers!

  75. Apparently, the PMA has gone through a process of degeneration. Time to abolish it as well! Useless is as useless does. Ano? Lahat na lang ba Mafia?

BTW, as usual, John Osmena is said to be turning coat again, more like “kung saan siya makakaloko!” Thank God, the UNO leadership is wiser to put him on hold; seems to prove that the UNO will be able to come up with the magic 12 sans dirty politics. They should now be able to get the cremes of the crop—NO TRAPO!

    WOoow! Omigod! Susmaryosep!

salamat, you could be PMA’S multi-class historian, better than having ears in the walls of Melchor Hall and “mikes” in the corridors of success and failures and the payatas of Pemayers’ corruption. I raise my sword in
salute to the facts you know, Anna.

About de los Santos, he was given an additional star as required by that UN job. Sa media lang nanggaling ang nalalaman ko tungkol kay de los Santos, basa lang ng dyaryo. media creation ba siya? hindi ba West Pointer yan tulad ni tabako?

Yang class 62 si Zumel ang baron ng
pumasok sila. Pero neither here nor there yan.
The question is kailan, anong class talaga ang
nagpa simula ang “macapagalan” (read heinous corruption)? Anong class ang puputol niyan?

Wala bang blogger from among the mistahs? Baka meron daplis info si anna at ako na may hilig sa military topic. Importante sila sa bansa kasi. Patriotism is welded in their uniform. When a nation is in crisis, or whatever, deciding vote sila. Yung mga mistah magsalita naman.

This comment is not to defend Gen Esperon but I just want to explain and analyze the things that are seen in that group picture with the President and others.

    1. Karen Hughes, Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs and adviser of US President Bush, arrived at noon time last 24th January in Manila. With her arrival, it is a part of diplomatic protocol for the US Ambassador to the Phil. to tender a Cocktail/Dinner Party at her Residence as Welcome Party for the VIP Guest on the night of her arrival. Gen Esperon, as the CSAFP, was invited to attend the said party in Business Attire (the usual attire as stated in the US formal invitation card). This party was scheduled just in time (or little earlier)with the scheduled dinner party of the President with the AFP oficers and men assigned in Sulo who were responsible in the killing of KJ and Abu Sulaiman last Wednesday night, too. So, Gen Esperon has to juggle his presence in these two important activities which are held at the same night. So, that explains why Gen Esperon did not have enough time to change to his military formal uniform fitting for the event in Malacanang.

    2. Through my research, the party of US Ambassador Kristie Kenney and US Undersecretary Karen Hughes paid a Courtesy Call to the President in Malacanang on the evening of Wednesday, January 24 (after the US Ambassador’s welcome party at her Official Residence). They might have joined the Dinner Party with the soldiers.

    3. Since it is a formal awarding dinner party for the AFP troops, the least that a soldier should wear as his uniform in this event should be the Bush Coat Uniform (formal attire with short sleeves). But, most of these soldiers don’t have such uniform yet due to their rank and place of assignment (which is combat/field assignment). And there was a time constraint for these soldiers to have their Bush Coats tailored in short notice. So, these soldiers had to wear their “Best Combat Uniform”, which is the one we see in the picture as the new Special Forces Battle Dress Attire. Only members of the Philippine Army Special Forces have this kind of uniform.

    4. What is surprising is the attire/uniform of CG, PA, Gen Tolentino. He was wearing the General Office Attire (GOA)which is the uniform worn when an officer/soldier is attending to his office at the General Headquarters.

    5. In conclusion, Everybody was wearing the Wrong Uniform for the event as seen in that picture.

    6. There is no such thing as the “Best Class in PMA”. “Weather, weather lang yan”.

  81. parasabayan parasabayan

Black Knight, good excuse but I am sorry I do not buy it! Officers who are expected to attend multi-functions should always carry different attires in their cars. What are the assistants for? This function they are attending is a military function and as such they should be in proper attires. I think he just wants to sport his new Armani/Versace or the like. Whatever he wears, he is still the most hated AFP Chief who earned his position thru cheating for his master. It is not surprising, the loyalty of a DOG has to be paid with a big BONE! Whatever he wears though, he is still a first class bodyguard of the tiyanak. No amount of expensive clothing can make a rotten man look better. To most of the AFP soldiers, he is nothing but a prostritute chief. SAD but there are a lot of people like him in the force. For all I know some of them are in this blog! Enjoy your thrones because when the tide turns, it will be your end!
It is weather weather lang among the generals but the real good ones stay as good and the vultures are so obvious because they cling to power like there is no tomorrow even persecuting their own men to justify their end. These officers are the worst kind! The soldiers are not dumb, they are just waiting for the right time. It will come!

    Parasabayan:
I agree with you.If you attend a military function you need to wear your formal military attire.I myself have expierenced being in the military, but not the sundalong labas ang tumbong as Ystakei said.

  85. Black Night,

“So, that explains why Gen Esperon did not have enough time to change to his military formal uniform fitting for the event in Malacanang. ”

    I understand.

However (1) he should have refused to pose in a pictorial that he knewx would be published in a major broadsheet; it is very unlikely that he didn’t know that it would be published, he needn’t have joined the pictorial (2) if he agreed to pose in the middle of the valiant uniformed troops as their CSAFP, in civilian attire, he should have made sure that the pic would remain in the bottom drawer of the official archives.

All said, Mr Esperon committed a grave indescretion vis a vis the military – he was UNECESSARILY LAX. There was NO EXCUSE, absolutely NONE!

I’ve met many CS Pinoys and foreign, in that position, they couldn’t allow themselves slightest error particularly over something that could have been avoided, i.e., appearing in OFFICIAL pictorials with troops in active service… This wasn’t a birthday party – this was an OFFICIAL PICTORIAL that would reverberate the world over!

    he could have posed

  86. Re: 6. There is no such thing as the “Best Class in PMA”. “Weather, weather lang yan”.

I agree totally. As in any military, it’s not the graduating class that makes the difference, it’s the officers FROM the graduating class.

  87. Black Knight,

Could you imagine, General Sir Richard Dannatt, Chief UK Army posing in civvies in an official function with uniformed troops who just got back from the battle front?

He WOULD BE SACKED! there would be public clamor to replace him – he would be criticised relentlessly in the British press, roasted alive.

The chief of a military cannot BE LAX, particularly when it could be easily avoided. No ifs, no buts!

No wonder our military is in shambles! The Chief is lax…

  88. I REPEAT, “The chief of a military cannot BE LAX, particularly when it could be easily avoided.”

Simple: the chief is lax, the troops become lax. No excuse… if he wants an excuse to be lax, then he must resign and return to civilian life.

  89. Mrivera Mrivera

no amount of excuses can absolve asoperon from all his abuses and misdeeds. he will always remain a rotten example of today’s AFP’s rotten leadership. a highest ranking military officer of the armed forces whose integrity is way down below that of a dog’s.

anna:just visited your blog. thanks. i suppose that guy is from the telemark batallion, supposed to be norways best.just for info here, the defence secretary in norway is a woman, and so was the previous one.likewise the finance, natural resources, and interior affairs secretaries are women.women soldiers are also becoming natural or common, thing is they have to pass the same rigid physical test to come in the military but are not yet allowed to actual combats.
