“Pilipino” ni Capt. Faeldon

Kahanga-hanga itong si Capt. Nick Faeldon.

Pls campaign and vote for SONNY TRILLANES, Senator!

    joeseg, hi!

Got some good news for us?

    1. Gloria at FG
    2. Raul at Norberto Gonzales
    3. Esperon at Ebdane
    4. Abalos at Garci

Walong tao lang ang kalaban ng demokrasya.

    Citizen’s arrest na natin.

  5. chi chi

    Spy,

  6. joeseg joeseg

    Hi Guys!

Ang kampanya namin ay para sa GO candidates in all level. Nabanggit ko lang particularly si Trillanes because I can’t forget somebody wrote here that he will campaign against Trillanes.

Manay Chi, my good news is something that’s really a bad news sa mga tuta ni gma.

Umuwi lang akong saglit after 2 weeks to change oil.

This time, ang dami kong dalang campaign materials for Trillanes (courtesy of somebody from this blog).

  7. My vote is going to be a protest vote. It doesn’t matter who is running, I’d vote for anybody opposing GMA just to drive a point home- This government no longer enjoys my trust.

  8. chi chi

    joeseg,

  10. artsee artsee

  11. It doesn’t matter who is running, I’d vote for anybody opposing GMA just to drive a point home

    .
This attitude merely perpetuates that cycle of disillusionment, followed by a search for “alternative” candidates in the next election and then back to disillusionment again.

If vindictiveness or partisanism is the only thing that determines who we vote for, then we will never mature as an electorate.

Democracy is not about shallow partisan gossip and irresponsible freedom. With freedom comes responsibility. Ultimately. If we presume to advocate Faeldon’s words, then we need to understand their profound meaning.

“Trillanes is presumed innocent until proved guilty, and guilt will be proved given the fact that he is absolutely innocent; the irony is that Jalosjos who is also in prison is being given access to media and even his convicted fellow travelers are going to have party- list as it has Gloria’s blessings. A donor to Trillanes’ cause has come out with his latest contribution — posters with an image of Trillanes’ behind bars and a comment “Kasalanan ba ang magsabi ng totoo?” it then calls for Trillanes to be put in the Senate.”

Under Gloria’s evil regime, naging MASAMA ANG MAGSABI NG TOTOO.

May Diyos tayong nakabantay!

Sabi ni Ka Enchong: “My vote is going to be a protest vote. It doesn’t matter who is running, I’d vote for anybody opposing GMA just to drive a point home”

Ginawa ni Benigno, inalis yong “protest vote” at parang inupakan pa si Ka Enchong: If vindictiveness or partisanism is the only thing that determines who we vote for, then we will never mature as an electorate.

It’s a sort of protest for their joining gma inspite of the cheating in the 2004 elections.

  23. “This attitude merely perpetuates that cycle of disillusionment, followed by a search for “alternative” candidates in the next election and then back to disillusionment again.”

Personally, it does not matter how many cycles we go through. What matters is the end result. Our democracy, compared to most first world countries, is relatively young. I’d like to think that the dilemna we are in right now is actually more of a purification process. In time, this democracy, nurtured by well-meaning Pinoys like most of us here, will see its maturity.

“If vindictiveness or partisanism is the only thing that determines who we vote for, then we will never mature as an electorate.”

A protest vote, as I see it, does not have anything to do with vindictiveness. It only tries to get a message across, namely: I, as a taxpaying Filipino citizen, deserve to know the truth regarding the controversies hounding the leadership of those who, I, as a Filipino voter, help put in place. WIth GMA’s penchant for coverup and clouding these issues, a protest vote is the only Constitutional means by which we may arrive at the truth.

  26. Chi, Luz:

May bungalow pa si Jalosjos sa Muntinlupa for his exclusive use where he entertains his guest. When I went to visit a Japanese inmate there that we were helping get a retrial as he claimed innocence of the crime he did not do but got a death verdict, I saw the bungalow still being constructed then. That was in 2000. Kuwarto ng ungas airconditioned, and he is allowed a domestic helper who does all his clothes, cooks his food, at saka baka pati iyong birds and the bees thing!!!

  30. Sleeplessinmontreal:

Only difference is that the protest votes of Filipinos in Japan is against the bogus government against the bogus president, and that we are not telling them to just vote for anyone against the Tiyanak. Fortunately, Binay, et al have had the wisdom to choose the creme de la creme of those who volunteered to join them even with caution, etc. that joining the United Opposition will be more like a sacrifice for country and people.

In short, it is nothing like the insinuation that anybody against the Tiyanak is worth voting for, but that he/she is voting for the Opposition because they have the best election platform—the preservation of the institution of the Senate not for their own survival but for the survival of the democratic system that has not been properly abided by under the rule of a bogus president who is acting more like some empress of some despotic kingdom.

To preserve this institution, they definitely need to have the Tiyanak removed by all means possible in accordance with the laws of the land regardless of whether or not they have become as useless as the Constitution that this Tiyanak and company have trampled upon.

  31. vic vic

We have a way of making our protest vote counts. Once before we have a Protest Party known as Rhinoceros Party whose platform were all rhetoricals and satirical as a form of protest to the mainstream party, but the Party was abolished when the electoral body came up with an idea of recording and publishing the percentage of Protest Votes along with all the other votes. And the Process is very simple. A Big X accross the voter’s ballot is counted as Protest vote…

  32. Vic: A Big X accross the voter’s ballot is counted as Protest vote…
    *****

Sinabi mo pa, Vic. Over in the Land of the Rising Sun, when voters do not like the platforms or the candidates themselves, voters just do not go to the polls, and low turn out will mean protest against the incumbent regime, and the head of the government will be forced to resign together with his cabinet. I guess it is more or less the same as in Canada.

allow me to post this letter from a respected lawyer:

    Comelec obviously biased?

    LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

    03/11/2007

    Dear Editor:

The recent news report that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) rendered its decision upholding the candidacy of Joselito “Peter” Cayetano, a namesake of Genuine Opposition (GO) senatorial bet Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano, clearly shows that the namesake is a “nuisance” senatorial candidate as Sec. 69 of the Omnibus Election Code so provides. Under the pertinent provision, the Comelec can motu propio refuse to give due course to the petition, if the said petition would put the election process in mockery or disrepute or to cause confusion among the voters.

How could the commission ignore the fact that the namesake only intends to confuse the voters to make a mockery of the election process? In as much as Joselito Cayetano is an obviously obscure person and even committed perjury when he misrepresented himself as a marine engineer in his petition, since he is merely an ordinary employee, it is obvious that he does not have the financial capacity and ability to conduct a nationwide campaign. Although he belongs to the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL), this has been denied by Gov. Bongbong Marcos. Even based on this fact alone, how can anyone say Joselito Cayetano is a legitimate candidate? I can dare say even by any stretch of the imagination or miracle, neither Joselito Cayetano or even KBL lawyer Oliver Lozano nor any of his KBl fellow candidates will ever make it to the top 20. If proved wrong, I will voluntarily return my Bar license to the Supreme Court.

  34. Mrivera Mrivera

the above letter appeared in the daily tribune’s 11 march 2007 issue.

  35. Over in the Philippines, a boycott will be useless because of the Comelec especially now with vote-riggers even employed as Commissioners who can steal the votes of those who will go on strike, and give the votes to their sponsors squatting at the palace by the murky river. That is why it is important that Filipinos should go out and vote unless they are disenfranchised and are prevented from exercising their right of suffrage.

Come to think of it, but over here, we do not even have to go to the city hall to register and go through those silly process of registering (kuno, tapos palpak pa rin as when those registered in Japan for example did not get their IDs and were not send their ballots to be filled up and returned to the embassy, or the IDs were actually incomplete and looked like forged!)! We are required to register everytime we move and have also to transfer our residential records, and since elections are managed by the legal bureau in each local government, we get automatically registered as voters (upon reaching the age of maturity or 20 years old), and are sent our tickets to vote in designated polling places covering our places of residence.

That efficient as a matter of fact. We do not get to registered and be registered every time there is an election. Dagdag trabaho lang iyan sa totoo lang that is in fact a waste of public funds.

Ping to GMA: Don’t play favorites with IRA release

    03/11/2007

Reelectionist Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson yesterday said Malacañang should not treat the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) as its “private bank account” and toy with it, as he urged the Palace to release it in full to all local government units regardless of their political affiliation.

Lacson said while it is President Arroyo’s job to release the IRA in full to local government officials, she must not play favorites and release funds only to those allied with Malacañang.

“The release of the IRA is its job and it involves taxpayers’ money. The money is not theirs. Is the money theirs? The money came from taxes and should rightfully be part of the local governments’ budgets,” he said.

Lacson stressed that the Arroyo government has a track record of releasing full allocations only to local governments allied with it, and withholding allocations of those allied with the opposition.

Last Thursday, Mrs. Arroyo dangled the full release of IRAs before local officials to woo local support for administration senatorial candidates in the May 14 polls.

DoLE to launch National Reintegration Center for OFWs

    03/11/2007

The Philippines, which holds the distinction as the number one source of productive overseas workers for the global economy, will inaugurate on Monday (March 12) the National Reintegration Center for Overseas Filipino Workers in Intramuros, Manila.

The Reintegration Center is a “One Stop Center” providing various reintegration services for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families, as well as a “Service Networking Hub” to facilitate the delivery of services by cooperating stakeholders/service providers to address the migrants’ and their families’ needs, including the development of their communities.

The center shall also develop, implement and evolve progressive and responsive reintegration programs for OFWs and their families that are attuned to their communities’ needs, so as to maximize the benefits of migration for development, among other provisions.

Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Arturo Brion, who has initiated the establishment of the center, said the facility to assist returning OFWs is the first of its type in the world, affirming the Philippines’ top position in the area of migration, particularly in the protection of its nationals.

Brion indicated with the launching of the National Reintegration Center for OFWs, “our country has succeeded in establishing a full global circuit for OFWs beginning from their departure, until their return and reintegration to the local social and economic mainstream.”

The establishment of the center is consistent with Republic Act 8042 or the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act of 1995, which prescribed the establishment of a Re-placement and Monitoring Center (for OFWs); as well as Presidential Executive Order 446 issued on July 12, 2005, which authorized the Secretary of Labor to coordinate the implementation of initiatives to enable OFWs to rejoin and contribute to the development of the Philippine society.

To carry out its objectives, the center, through an “assistance desk,” shall provide basic services to OFWs and their families such as face-to-face/online responses to queries; evaluation/channeling of requests for assistance; job search assistance for local/overseas employment; assistance for entrepreneurship/enterprise development; training/retooling assistance; psychosocial services; facilitating participation in Brain Gain Movement Initiatives; linking OFW assistance to local government units and Communities; introduction to Special Retirement Program; information on Special Remittance Package and Investment Portfolios; among others.

“Ducky, a sad picture of the weak-willed Filipino educated class… money from Eusebio, First Gentlemean, etc., he can’t help it, needs a life style suited to expectations of the Filipino upper middle class family.”

btw, a little off-topic, nakita nyo ba ang feature re camarines sur (balwarte ni villabuwitre)…pinagmamalaki ng junanak ni villabwitre na may world-class na resort sila to accomodate wakeboarding participants and they will hold an international competition daw…wow! impressive sana…although i wonder who owns that resort and where the money came from in building that resort or facilty?!…walang masama sa tanong ko, bagkus, dapat isiping mabuti kung bakit sa dinami dami ng mga dapat ayusin sa ka-bikulan, ay inuna ang ganito?

  50. artsee artsee

    Off topic..in ABS-CBNnews.com, here’s an interesting article:

Enrile hits US Senate probe on political killings

Senator Juan Ponce Enrile scored the investigation called by the US Senate Foreign Relations committee on the spate of political killings in the Philippines, ABS-CBN News reported Sunday.

Enrile said the US congress should set its sights first at the numerous killings in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He said US has no right to meddle with Philippine affairs..

According to the US Senate Web site (http://www.senate.gov), the committee’s East Asian and Pacific Affairs subpanel will conduct a hearing on Wednesday, March 14, 2:30 pm (Washington DC time) at the SD-419 “to examine strategies to end the violence relating to extrajudicial killings in the Philippines.

Here’s a related article also from the web of ABS-CBN:

Satur to testify before US Senate hearing on RP killings

Despite being in hiding from Philippine authorities, House Deputy Minority Leader and Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo, said he intends to participate in a US Senate Foreign Relations committee’s investigation into the extrajudicial killings under the government of President Arroyo.

“As president of Bayan Muna, the party to which 127 victims of extrajudicial killings belonged to, I intend to participate in the US Senate hearing in whatever way possible to help US senators and the American people understand the prevailing culture of impunity and the political persecution of duly-elected partylist organizations,” said Ocampo in a statement, ABS-CBN reported.

    *********************************

Would this be the reason why all of a sudden gov’t wants to arrest Satur Ocampo because they got wind of him planning to testify in the U.S. Senate ?

I can hear the ticking of the clock now..Goddbye, Gloria !

Enrile said the US congress should set its sights first at the numerous killings in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Enrile also tagged local militant groups as a modern day “Makapili” for complaining the issue of political killings to the US.

House Deputy Minority Leader and Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo earlier said he intends to participate in a US investigation into the extrajudicial killings under the government of President Arroyo despite the arrest warrant issued against him..

Could this be an omen ? The COMELEC Headquarters in Intramuros, Manila was on fire !

According to the web of The Daily Tribune (03/12/2007),
“Marines ‘abandon’ posts as Comelec HQ catches fire”

Here’s an exerpt of the article:

“..Investigators have yet to determine the origin of the fire.

Ludivico Banal, station commander of Manila’s first district fire station, said the fire broke out just before 1 a.m.

No one was reported injured in the fire that was tapped out a few hours later, he added.

Initial reports said most of the records destroyed in the fire were personnel records, as the Comelec moved most of its operations and offices to the nearby Palacio del Gobernador in 2001.

No one was reported injured in the fire that was tapped out after more than four hours, Banal said.

Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel Jr., for his part, also yesterday challenged Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr. to dismiss any suspicions that the incident was deliberate to supposedly destroy vital evidence on cases of alleged irregularities in the agency.

He said the poll chief should order a complete inventory of the documents, equipment and facilities that were burned during the fire to determine if vital documents were destroyed, such as those pertaining to the botched P1.3-billion poll modernization project, the procurement of supplies for the 2007 elections and the fraud-tainted 2004

    presidential elections.

“The burning of the Comelec office raises alarms that vital evidence might have been burned. Abalos’ good intentions need to be proved. Clean elections are vital and necessary,” the senator stressed.

Also, San Juan Mayor and Genuine Opposition (GO) interim campaign manager Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito charged that the Arroyo administration is setting the stage for a no election scenario, adding the move was “obvious.”

“This government plays so dirty, knowing it will lose in the elections, they had to do something to stop the polls. From Charter change to the burning of Comelec, the intention is obvious,” he stressed.”

  61. artsee artsee

  62. Chabeli Chabeli

Regarding the U.S. Senate probe into the spade of killings in the country, I found it funny that Ed Ermita said that Malcañan is open to the investigation BUT “..said the Palace has asked the US government to coordinate with the Department of Foreign Affairs.” (taken from web article in Malaya)

Did the U.S. go through the Foreign Affairs office in Iraq during their “investigation” ? Nope ! They just shocked & awed the world.

Does Gloria ACTUALLY think she is any different from “The Butcher of Baghdad” ?

US Senate starts RP killings probe

    By JESS DIAZ
    The Philippine Star

The United States Senate is set to start an investigation into hundreds of unexplained killings in the Philippines.

An announcement on the US Senate website said the initial inquiry would be conducted by the East Asian and Pacific Affairs subcommittee at 2:30 p.m. (Washington time) at Room SD-419 of the US Congress.

The investigation aims “to examine strategies to end the violence relating to extrajudicial killings in the Philippines,” the announcement said.

The inquiry was arranged by Sen. Barbara Boxer, a Democratic deputy whip and an influential member of the foreign relations committee, upon request by Filipino-American organizations in the US and by militant groups here.

In a nutshell – the only way for the poor people to have effective political power is for them to become part of the middle class. They must not remain poor. Otherwise they remain pawns of politicians like Erap and Binay.

The only thing this mentality accomplishes is propagate the dukha mentality of the underclass. This assumes that the hope of the poor lies only in the altruism or generosity of the rich.

    That attitude is so pathetic.

Everyone’s prosperity is their own personal responsibility. The victim mentality of the poor was brought about by the false belief that the poor are blessed.

There is nothing “blessed” about being poor. The only thing good about poverty is that the poor consume less energy and therefore (on a per capita basis) cause less degradation to the environment. They also feed off the garbage of the rich and therefore serve as an environmentally-sound human recycling plant.

    But “blessed”?

I don’t think so. The more we tell them that they are owed dole outs, the more they get dependent on them, the more they multiply, and the more our economy becomes dependent on remittances sent home by Pinoys who are forced to OFW0ism to feed their 8 kids.

Tama na yang mga pandering to the victim mentality of the poor. The key to prosperity is self-reliance. As soon as the poor realise that no one else will take responsibility for their pathetic, and as soon as they realise that God does not shower poor people with money, the sooner they will rise up from their wretched state.

    – 😀

  87. norpil norpil

i assume no bloggers here are poor, otherwise they will not have the time to be reading and writing here.on the other hand some of them may have come from being poor and became self reliant for one reason or another.this means that being poor is not necessarily a premanent state. to be blesed has nothing to do with being poor or not.on the other hand there exist people who for one reason or another were not able to find their place in the sun, and these are the people who are the responsibility of the govt.indeed, the govt’s responsibility are the weak, for who will help them if the govt cannot.the govt must tax the rich and at the same time create an environment where even the rich will be happy paying their taxes. it is nonsense blaming the poor because they are weak and kissing the hands of the rich because they are strong, or drumming our own chest just because we are not poor anymore nor have never known poverty.

  88. norpil:
I agree with your line of thinking. Although the government has a big responsibility we as individuals have a responsibility to assist the weak, in doing so the weak become stronger to make society generally stonger also. At the moment this administration seem to feed the notion, dog-eat-dog where only the few see benefits.
If only we could erase the ‘crab mentality’.

  89. norpil:
To prove a point through example:-
A Survey of Blindness in 2001 determined that 62 percent of all blindness in the Philippines is caused by cataracts, placing this condition as one of the immediate health concerns in the country since it is reversible & treatable.
The average charge for a cataract operation is 20,000 peso if there’s complications that charge can rise to 80,000 peso well beyond the means of an unemployed Filipino.
Thank goodness there are foundations that will offer cataract operations for free (donated by the foundation) for the sole reason that the blind will see, then the patient can obtain worthwhile employment and support his/her family.
Now is this to be regarded as ‘pandering to the victim mentality of the poor’ or are we in society so selfish that we are prepared to ignore and walk past the weak & disabled just because we have become materialistic and no longer interested in assisting our poor brothers & sisters. Shameful!

wwnl: i have nothing against private enterprise helping the poor, though it is the responsibility of the govt. the people pay their taxes so that the govt can help the needy. this is my point and this is probably the difference between the united states and europe. the example of the cataract operation – it is actually free here in norway. but of course nothing is free, everything is measured in money, the problem is who pays and who is benefitting.it is for the interest of the country that all able bodied persons are working so that they can contribute to the well beiing of the country by paying their taxes.

  96. norpil Hi:
Thought I should explain my last comment, the ending word Shameful! was not aimed at you but society generally.
I applaud these medi-care type foundation as they struggle to find ordinary volunteers, the doctors & nurses willing to assist with patient care for no payment are plentiful. Of course they gain tremendously from the experience and become experts in their field of medicine. The main problem is the lack of local support from the business sector which is required to supply the basic equipment to start a medicare foundation. Once the foundation has been formed and operational many countries in Europe, USA & Australia are willing to support its work.

  97. Wala naman akong hinanakit kay BenignO. I am even thankful that both he and Anthony Scalia are here to offer us alternative ways of perceiving the issues.
