Bakit may giyera ba?

Nick Faeldon.)

    .
    Precisely.

The same can be said about Pinoys.

The tunes are always the same:

    “Patalasikin Na Now Na!”
    “Laban!”
    “Maka-tao, maka-bayan, maka-Diyos!”
    “Da ‘people’ have decided!”

    and of course:

    “Ocho ocho!” 😀

What is conspicuously absent is any discussion about platforms and issues. We are too busy dancing to these old tunes and parroting old slogans to notice that politicians are merely playing musical chairs around government posts AND political alliances, coming up with lame but catchy names for meaningless political “parties”, and organising hakot rallies (incumbent and opposition have for decades been into the same game).

So while the general public is out discussing what they think is politics, the REAL politics is being discussed amongst the people who are in the REAL business of divvying up the spoils of a once rich land among themselves.

    Kawawa nga naman ang Pinoy.

    Sayaw Pinoy sayaw!

    – 😀

  3. Ellen,

This is exactly what I discussed in my last article. The Philippine society is regressing and what’s worse, the people, especially the middle class doesn’t care as they are not the ones affected.

    schumey,

    asamsyunista yata yan!

  5. Toney Cuevas Toney Cuevas

If you’re going to throw up next time, make sure you do it on illegitimate-bogus Gloria’s palakang mukha. Or if you know any mangkukulam, just put a good word about illegitimate-bogus Gloria, perhaps the mangkukulam might be able do something that most of us are not able to. I might even afford to donate illegitimate-bogus Gloria’s look-alike doll, rusted dull needles, et al. When everything else failed, see mangkukulam, just one never know this thing. We might just get lucky.

  6. Toney Cuevas Toney Cuevas

Sorry Ellen! Little slow, I didn’t get the connection on your title “Ang Palaka”. Are you saying that illegitimate-bogus Gloria is the Palaka? I thought Palaka got more personality to even compare it to illegitimate-bogus Gloria. Do you think illegitimate-bogus Gloria be able to jump about 10 ft. high, especially with all the Philippines gold she’s wearing?

  7. It is this sense of apathy among the majority of our Kababayans that makes pidal and her cohorts squat in Malacanang.

  9. Emilio_OFW Emilio_OFW

Exactly, Schumey, and the condition will deteriorate further with the current crooks at the helm of power.

The middle class, living in the comfort of their homes and enjoying life want to maintain the status quo. They won’t even lift a finger with the on-goings on the other side of the fence.

Whereas the poor are busy searching for their next meal. They become easy prey for the politicians to take advantage of their predicament. These politicians want to instill in the minds of these lowly poor the dependancy principle.

When I was growing-up, everyone in my community is in school. Now things has change and it pains me when I see children not going to school. Not because they don’t want to but money from the family’s income is merely enough for the three meals.

”A sexually aroused male Tungara frog, just yearning to fill the night air with his vocalizations, will nonetheless inhibit himself if, by cheerily croaking away, he would be the only one doing so; there are fringe-lipped, frog-eating bats that home in on croaking male Tungara frogs, so it is very much in the interest of even the horniest male amphibian to croak in a chorus or not at all..” -james barash

(this is not about sex but of courage and sacrifice for the common good)

Majority of the Filipino people wanted to croak but they’re just so terrified of the predator in the palace; so, they opted to keep quiet.
    But not all…
The bloggers here, military ‘rebels’, freedom fighters, and others who continuously defy and courageously fight against the menacing and always hungry bats (gma, esperon, et al)……

    O Hail to thee!

  11. I just got a mail from Cong. Ocampo. I met him and his wife last year when they came here to visit their children. He was invited to the Diet, and I bet his friends there will demand from the Philippine an explanation through our Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

When the Midget comes here in May, she definitely will be told outright about Japanese disgust re present present oppression and the judicial killings in the Philippines.

  12. Filipinos should stop the nonsense of allowing themselves to be carried away by faulty surveys, etc. and propaganda that are geared to some mind-conditioning and controlling. Time to revolt even by merely casting their votes against the crooks who have been trying to control them with the click of their fingers. Enough is enough.

Time to dump the crooks who have been the cause of Philippine ills. IBASURA ANG ADMINISTRASYON! IBOTO ANG OPOSISYON! GO 11+0!

  13. Toney, read the whole column. The story on the palaka is the punchline at the end of the article.

The article is a lament on our apathy towards Arroyo’s strong-arm tactics.

  14. Emilio:

Mga Ilocano with roots likewise in Ilocos Sur.

Definitely no sense of history ang mga ungas. Umiiral ang kaswapangan!!!

What Banayo should really try to find out is the connection with the projects that Fatso has been plugging in to members of Congress and local governments para may taga din siya according to my source.

Lamentably, the crooks have become bolder with their appointees controlling the justice department, military and police. Tignan mo nga na walang isang Senator except Nene Pimentel, or Congressman protesting against the presence of soldiers in barangays, etc. in Manila, etc. that should have been the jurisdiction of the local government and the local police. Problema kasi e binigay sa military ang pagpapatakbo ng pulis like the “kempeitai” before and during WWII. Bobo rin, di ba?

  15. Bloggers here may sound like broken records, but it is a must that they keep the fire going, and keep reminding Filipoinos that they have a right to protest especially against a bogus regime with a bogus president, who can still travel overseas and pretend majority of Filipinos have voted for her even when in fact, a lot many of them would want to see the last of her, her family and her lackeys.

The PERC report is a welcome treat for Filipinos as a matter of fact. All the more reason why I am not investing in the Philippines even when I do import products from there now to sell to Filipinos in Japan.

    Congratulations! Ms. Ellen

Thank you very much for the nice new look!

    Benigno:

I agree! our politics is politics of popularity not politics of issues and platforms. But the way I look at it, between oposition and incumbent, para tayong namimili kung saan tayo lalaspagin kung sa baga o sa apoy. Napakalayo pa ng pagbabago.

  20. Emilio, I didn’t change the look. There is something wrong here. I’m consulting my administrator.

  21. Ellen,

I was actually warned by a friend when I checked with about having my posting kind of being photocopied, and my computer invaded by several spywares.

My virus buster was also automatically activated as there was an attempt from somewhere to invade my cyber privacy. Ang tindi!

Careful, but I would encouage bloggers to continue berating the crooks who are bent now on suppressing freedom in the Philippines that is much worse than the suppression of freedom during the Marcos regime.

Kawawang bansa!

  23. Emil, Nelbar,

Exactly, anyone who speaks the truth is dismissed as a communist.

I hope that the middle class would realize that nothing is permanent. They could end up like our impoverished countrymen if the surot in the palace continue to rule.

    Gusto ba nilang maging OFW?

  25. cocoy cocoy

    Nelbar;

  27. nelbar nelbar

As of 5:29 EST(5:29PM naman sa Manila time) , bumalik na ulit sa dating kulay ang bahay ni ellen.

  28. Emilio_OFW Emilio_OFW

  29. Schumey:

I’m no communist but over in Japan we are free to deal with the communists except about doing something tantamount to some act of terrorism because the Communist Party of Japan is a recognized political party together with our Socialist Party that I, myself, support. I did not actually know the difference when I first practiced my right to vote and participate in politics in Japan because of the wrong teachings I acquired in the Philippines and corrected when I studied in UK, US and Japan.

I bet you these idiots lumping up the activists and critics of the Tiyanak who actually owed Satur Ocampo and Company a lot for helping her stage EDSA 2 against Estrada do not even know what they are talking about, nor can recognize good from evil, right from wrong. They are simply being idiots and paranoids especially with no country now owning to be die-hard Communists except perhaps North Korea and Red China, which is now even a capitalist country! Iyan ba ang sinasabing matalino? Purbida man gid! Kung matalino sila, wala nang bobo!!!

STOP OPPRESSION! STOP THIS NONSENSE ABOUT THE COMMIES!

Frankly, there is no real Communists in the Philippines, not even Joma Sison I am told, for when it comes to money, they are no different from any ordinary Filipino especially the less privileged ones WHO WANT TO ENJOY THE SAME PRIVILEGES AND CAPRICIOUSNESS OF THOSE WHO HAVE, AND IF THEY CAN HAVE THEIR SHARE IN THE LOOTS OF THE PIDALS!

Sabik din makahawak ng pera ang mga iyan as a matter of fact. I have met more dedicated Communists in Japan, who would sacrifice even their family relations for their ideology.

    Kawawang bansa!!!

IBASURA ANG ADMINISTRASYON! IBOTO ANG OPOSISYON! GO 11+0!

  30. Emilio, yes, my administrator is also puzzled. I have been hacked. We have instituted some measures to prevent the hacker to invade this blog again.

I hope and pray it works.

  31. MenOK, I have visited the mike arroyo disbar blogsite and I’m not inclined to post it here yet. Not if the story has an update, I might. Let’s see next week.

schumey, i disagree. they do care. only they want their efforts always recognized and their beneficiaries treat them with high regards like tamed dogs licking their master’s hands.

you can notice how they rail against the uneducated abused?

  38. Mrivera Mrivera

must be: “you can notice how they rail against the uneducated abused”.

  39. Re Nelbar’s question: Gusto ba nilang maging OFW?

  40. Ellen, just read Bunye’s staunch denial that Gloria sent PNP-AFP team to US Congress hearings re extra-judicial killings in Pinas, he say:

Ignacio Bunye clarifying that the departure of the Philippine government group was approved at the department level.

“The departments concerned (Defense and the DILG) made the decision in behalf of the chief executive,” Bunye claimed.

Toting Bunye is LYING through and through!

PNP and AFP senior officials CAN NOT, I REPEAT, CAN NOT travel OUT OF THE COUNTRY without the permission of their commander in chief! Dept level chief only makes recommendation for approval but the signing authority allowing them to leave country for any purpose, mission, etc whatsoever IS P**************NANG GLORIA MACAPAPGAL!

    Philippine Vigil,

    “spread the frogness” ika nga….

ayan ang economic philosophy ni Gloria!

  42. Chabeli Chabeli

    Philippine Vigil,

You mention that “Ignacio Bunye clarifying that the departure of the Philippine government group was approved at the department level.”

After a slap on the face on Gloria’s administration, by the U.S. Senate investigation on the extra-judicial killings in the Philippines, led by Rep. Boxer, what is Gloria to do ? I guess lying comes naturally from this woman.

It seems that Gloria is in a quandry. She will avoid the inevitable because her base is the military. W/o the military, Gloria would have been kicked out of Malacañan a long time ago.

    PV,

This Tianak is having hallucinations that she has the ears of US congress! I could imagine the empty sweating faces of them if without notice they’d be interviewed by the US congressmen!

  47. Right Norpil unless all Gloria tiyanak decides to settle down in Norway where orphaned Nazi-German fathered children (with Norweigian women) in WW2 have recently sued the Norwegian govt for the discrimination and atrocities they suffered in the hands of Norwegians for a long long time!

  48. But not to worry, Norwegians are considered the butt of jokes among the Scandinavians for being just sooooooooo parochial and so thick! In that sense, I agree Gloria Tiyanak can settle down in Norway when she’s kicked out of Pinas! (But since you are not a native Norwegian, Norpil I believe it wouldn’t really matter to you.)

Then, all of a sudden the face of your blog became different and became simpler in appearance. I thought you were having a renovation until you mentioned that you did not authorize the change.

  56. You bet PV.

First time mangyayari ito pag nagkataon! Mapapahiya ang walanghiya. 59. I love your new article in Malaya, Ellen. I was overjoyed in fact by the reprimand the inutils got from the US Senate. Boo! Buti nga sa mga sipsip!!!

  60. You bet, PV, tado talaga. Sinong maniniwala sa kaniya? Better check with the department in charge who financed the trip of these guys to the US. Di biro iyang junket ng mga iyan just to try to intimidate the Americans.

  61. Philip Alston will also be in Tokyo in May according to report my group and I have received.

  63. cocoy cocoy

Mayayabang kasi!

  64. Manila Times front page pic caption: A laborer works on a road project in Manila. The labor force in January stood at 36.4 million out of the estimated 56.1 million Filipinos 15 years old and over.

15 YEARS OLD labourer instead of being at school? Gloria’s much vaunted personal ECONOMICALLY SOUND (??????????) republic can boast of corruption and 15 year old labourers?

    She’s a frigging liar, ain’t she?

  65. Cocoy,

Kasama si Sonny Razon doon sa US junket?

Kung ganoon talagang SINUNGALING ANG TARANTADONG SI BUNYE ng sinabi niya that the police and military officers who went were authorized at department level.

IMPOSSIBLE! Particularly with star rank officials! Only their commander in chief even if she is bogus can give final authority for these police and military officers to TRAVEL outside Pinas! Unless she signed those travel application forms of Sonny Razon, no way could they leave the country!

If they did leave the country without Gloria Tiyanak’s authorization then THEY ARE CONSIDERED OFFICIALLY AWOL! They should be caught, handcuffed and sent to Pinas MANU MILITARI….(I know Sonny Razon personally – I will send him an SMS to tell him what Bunye has been mouthing around and therefore he is CONSIDERED AWOL!)

PNP Deputy Dir. Gen. Avelino Razon Jr., head of Task Force Usig,” the body formed to help stop extra-judicial killings;” Criminal Investigation & Detection Group (CIDG) Dir. Edgardo Doromal; Col. Gaudencio Pangilinan, deputy chief of the AFP’s Intelligence Service (Isafp); and Col. Benedicto Jose, head of the AFP Human Rights Office.

  69. luzviminda luzviminda

Basta nag-reklamo o nag-witness, deadbol! Hindi kinikilabutan ang babaeng tianak sa mga dugong umaagos sa bansa dahil sa kanyang walang kabusugang ambisyon to stay in power. Damn!

  71. chi chi

    Luzviminda,

Pahiya, belat!

  72. PV:

Over in Japan, education is compulsory until the 9th grade. Over in the Tiyanak’s enchanted kingdom the concept of prosperity and better life is to go overseas and risk getting raped, etc. Children as young as 12 or 13 are being lured to attend a 3-month course in caregiving (kuno) and these children are being made to work without fee in some care home during the said course.

I’ve seen video tapes of such kunyari-kunyariang seminars that are no different from the hocus-pocus training for the pseudo-entertainers the pimps use to deploy to Japan. Diyan magaling si Pandak. Mambugaw!!!

  73. cocoy cocoy

  74. Diego K. Guerrero Diego K. Guerrero

  75. chi chi

  76. Aha, Thanks, Chi for the list!

I see kasama si Boygee Pangilinan na siguradong mag side trip yan sa LA to see his son (by a woman who is not his wife).

Now, that we know with certainty the names of officials who went to the US WITHOUT (kuno) APPROVAL from bogus commander in chief, they should be declared AWOL….

Either that or Bunye must swallow his lie! Tangnang kasinungaling ng tao na yan! Pareho siya ng amo niya.

Ellen, Bunye LIED when he said those guys went as observers and department level chiefs gave approval! LIE! It was Gloria, the prime liar who gave the approval and by extension gave the ORDER to “guest” in US Congress UNINVITED!

    Gloria sinungaling!

  77. chi chi

Awwww, si Gaudencio pala ay nasa Isafp!
I’m not familiar kasi sa mga sundalong SUPOT!

  78. The report said, “Ignacio Bunye clarifying that the departure of the Philippine government group was approved at the department level.”

    THIS IS A LIE!

Dept level chiefs CANNOT APPROVE a military and police officer’s travel abroad, particularly from Lt Colonel level – ONLY their COMMANDER IN CHIEF even if she is frigging bogus CAN APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE THEM TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY which means one and one thing, ang stupidang tiyanak, gustong mag-gate crash sa US Congress.

    Tangnang Bunye!

  79. I discussed the kind of recruitment the Philippine government does re the domestic helpers with the labor unions in Japan for better protection for these workers even from their own government.

There is no problem with workers like my staff who are categorized under humanities and international services, but domestic helpers are not wholly under the jurisdiction of the Japanese Labor Ministry because they are employed by foreigners only. Japanese nationals are not allowed to get foreign domestic helpers as a matter of fact. Thus, they cannot join labor unions in Japan. My staff can because they are employed by my company which is a legitimate Japanese company. Domestic helpers have a different category.

The advantage of joining labor unions in Japan is that they can be provided with legal services by lawyers working for the unions, and can have ample protection against harassment and intimidation by their own government, especially with the Pandak determined to suck them dry like a vampire!!!

BTW, Japan is postponing granting permits for caregivers indefinitely. It is being carefully studied by Japanese authorities because of the various problems that may arise and repercussions on Philippine-Japanese relationship. ]

Surely, Japan cannot afford to be bothered once again with the irritants in the fragile relationship between Japan and the Philippines.

  80. PV:

Hindi daw AWOL. May special leave of absence daw and they have decided to attend that special hearing and be in uniform to intimidate the witnesses sans order of the Tiyanak!

  81. Teen-ager na yang illegitimate son ni Boygee! Wanna bet? He will take a side trip to California?

    Hahahahah!

I met him when he was just Exec Asst to General Boy Enrile when the latter was PMA Superintendent.

When Boy Enrile became CSAFP sometime in April 1993, Boygee started to act as if he was Mr Little CSAFP!

That’s why many people in the Army (and from other services) hated him. He even behaved like a shithead to BGen Solquillo who was Chief of Army Staff Army at that time!

  83. chi chi

    PV,

Maganda yatang mai-Tribune letter to the editor si Bunyeta lying to his teeth again!

  84. Yuko,

  85. Chi,

Yeah, I will write the letter again!

  86. chi chi

    Yuko,

Alam ko ang meaning ng sundalong kanin. Bakit labas ang tumbong?! I’m not in here. heheh!

  87. Gotta write to Senator Boxer and thank her for booing out the sundalong kanin!!! Ooops, 4 a.m. na dito. Gotta go to bed. May pasok pa sa araw!!! Rather busy these days. May kaso akong hinahawakan kasi. Attempted murder ng mga overstaying Filipinos in Japan. Puro pinoy, both victims and perpetrators.

“Turnback ” siya sa PMA (meaning LAGPAK) and the current PSG Chief is ONE OF HIS CLOSEST FRIENDS!

  89. No active military officer particularly from the rank of Lt Colonel and above can leave the COUNTRY WITHOUT APPROVAL FROM COMMANDER IN CHIEF! End of Story.

    That’s the law!

  90. chi chi

    PV,

Sige, I’ll monitor pag labas!

  91. PV,

Over here, despite the reputation of Japanese tourists, when it comes to people working in the government, having concubines and children out of wedlock can be solid ground for termination, not mere suspension as this Boygee you have mentioned. Iyong Pidal guy for instance would be forced to commit suicide in shame for having been exposed as in the case of his alliance with Vicky Toh and that woman in the pictures in the disbar blog.

Gotta go guys. Gusto nang pumikit ang mga mata ko!!!

  92. chi chi

    PV,

So, the reason why Boygee is a mere deputy e “turnback” s’ya?! May kahinaan din pala, kaya barumbado!

  93. Diego K. Guerrero Diego K. Guerrero

  94. No Chi, I think Boygee is already assistant to TDCS J2 which means The Deputy Chief of Staff Intelligence which will give him his first star!

Next spot if TDCS J2 (2 stars) and then he can achief the greatest post of all time: GLORIA’s GESTAPO Chief!

Heheheh!

  96. Chi,

Pakiabang naman ang news sa CNN or ABC or FOX, etc. tungkol sa special hearing on this extrajudicial killing, and pakibalita. I’m hooked up only on BBC and CNN, and midnight news on NBC pero hindi kumpleto e. Sarap sanang manood, ‘no?

Over in Tokyo, na-busy naman kami sa election campaign kaya hindi na ako sumama sa the Hague for the People’s Permanent Tribunal for the Philippines. Natuloy and I’m following up the proceeding. A friend is a main convenor of this trial.

Heheheh! Sige Boygee, basahin mo ang blog ni Ellen at little by little, ma-shock ka na di na pala secret ang buhay mo!

  98. chi chi

  99. I just sent a text message to Toting saying “No presidential approval to leave country? So AFP officers are AWOL according to law!”

  100. chi chi

For all we know, pinamomonitor na ni Gaudencio ang blog ni Ellen.

  101. Inaasahan siguro ni Pandak iyong kaibigan nilang bulag doon na lider daw ng Democrats for Filipinos can help her, her husband and her lackeys in the military to convince the likes of Senator Boxer to ignore the complaints filed by various groups of human rightists on behalf of their more than 850 victims.

  102. Oooops, I forgot to paste Yuko’s:

That’s the most fitting description for all of Gloria’s apologists beginning with Toting Bunye!

  103. cocoy cocoy

    Diego;

  104. PV,

Huwag kang magbiro, but I’m informed about the presence of those sundalong tumbong in the areas they say are infiltrated by the commies kasi malakas sina Ka Bel at Satur Ocampo doon.

Hindi sa pagyayabang, I can fix computers. The first one I had some 12 years ago, binaklas ko bago lumabas iyong Windows 95.

Epicopalian. Malaking galit nila lalo nung napatay yung Supreme Bishop ng Phil. Independent Church, si Alberto Ramento last October 3.

Three Filipino Bishops and six leaders of justice-oriented organizations attended the Ecumenical Advocacy Days from March 9-12. Sabi sa website nila:

The group brought a detailed 99-page report documenting the killings of more than 800 civilians and the “disappearances” of another 196, some of them students, since 2001. The victims, they said, are priests, pastors, human rights workers, labor leaders, journalists – those who spoke up for the poor and who criticized government policies.

“We come out of an obscene climate of political repression,” declared Sharon Rose Joy Ruiz-Duremdes, general secretary of the National Council of Churches in the Philippines, a lay leader of the Philippine Baptist Church at the initial press briefing.

“We come to North America appalled at the political intolerance of government authorities whose response to abject poverty, to unemployment and landlessness is military might and a vicious campaign to obliterate a burgeoning movement for social transformation.”

The delegates, known as the Ecumenical Voice for Peace and Human Rights in the Philippines, were present to participate in the fifth annual Advocacy Days, an event sponsored by more than 50 churches that draws 1,000 people to Washington to lobby their senators and congressmen. The Philippines group came also to address the International Ecumenical Conference on Human Rights in the Philippines on March 12-14 and to appear before a congressional hearing of Sen. Barbara Boxer’s East Asian and Pacific Affairs Subcommittee and members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Now, regarding frogs, the reason is clear – not one wants to croak, as doing so exposes him to danger from the predators. Even bishops speak of the fear:

Bishop Eliezer Pascua, general secretary of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines, said the opportunity to speak out before the U.S. Congress was too important and too rare to pass up. “It is not that we would like to play the hero in this very dangerous situation… never we thought of that,” he said. “We feel like telling the truth…as far as we experience, as far as our spirit can discern. We will tell what we know about violence, human rights abuses… particularly these political killings.”

Then, choking up, his voice cracking, Pascua admitted “We don’t know what will happen when we get back. Fear is very real in us. I am particularly afraid. But this is a matter of making a choice between life and death, between freedom and oppression. The choice is very clear for us.”

There’s one frog right there that won’t be cowed, not if risking his personal safety, despite the fear, would mean moral if not actual victory in the end.

The complete details are here: (www.episcopalchurch.org/3577_83474_ENG_HTM.htm)

  113. Chi,

You may visit Senator Boxer’s site and then send an email from there at//boxer.senate.gov/

In this case, EPISCOPAL vs. ARROYO’s COCKROACH-SMEGMA REGIME.

(Hayup sa konek, ‘no, sepulturerong Cocak, este, Cocoy?)

  115. Tongue T,

The petition was mainly submitted by members of the Methodist Churcn, whose members have been victims of these extrajudicial killings.

A group of church leaders from Japan for example went to the Philippines to investigate and lodge a complaint through the government of Japan, and reason why the Philippine ambassador was summoned many times by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Aso, a name that has nothing to do with dog as in dugong-aso in Japanese BTW.

    15 August 2006

    PHILIPPINES
Political Killings, Human Rights and the Peace Process

    1. Introduction

Over recent years reports of an increased number of killings of political activists, predominately those associated with leftist or left-orientated groups,(1) have caused increasing concern in the Philippines(2) and internationally.(3)

The attacks, mostly carried out by unidentified men who shoot the victims before escaping on motorcycles, have very rarely led to the arrest, prosecution and punishment of those responsible. Amnesty International believes that the killings constitute a pattern and that a continuing failure to deliver justice to the victims represents a failure by the Government of the Philippines to fulfil its obligation to protect the right to life of every individual in its jurisdiction.

The organisation is also concerned that the killings have played a major role in the break-down of a protracted peace process and an accompanying human rights agreement, between the government and the National Democratic Front (NDF), representing the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and its armed wing, the New People’s Army (NPA).

The common features in the methodology of the attacks, leftist profile of the victims, and an apparent culture of impunity(4) shielding the perpetrators, has led Amnesty International to believe that the killings are not an unconnected series of criminal murders, armed robberies or other unlawful killings. Rather they constitute a pattern of politically targeted extrajudicial executions(5) taking place within the broader context of a continuing counter-insurgency campaign. The organisation remains gravely concerned at repeated credible reports that members of the security forces have been directly involved in the attacks, or else have tolerated, acquiesced to, or been complicit in them.

FEAR FACTOR of Bishop Eliezer Pascua:“We don’t know what will happen when we get back. Fear is very real in us. I am particularly afraid. But this is a matter of making a choice between life and death, between freedom and oppression. The choice is very clear for us.”

Who will protect the RP delegation? Be careful guys death squads are roaming freely.

The RP delegation included Ms Sharon Rose Joy Ruiz-Duremdes, NCCP general secretary; Bishop Eliezer M. 120. I’d like to make some clarification about my column that appeared in Malaya today. When I was writing that early yesterday, the initial report was Gen. Sonny Razon was in the U.S. senate in uniform.

That was what I mentioned in my column.

It was only later in the evening when I got the whole report that they didn’t attend the Senate hearing because they did not get the invitation they sought for and as Sen. Boxer herself said, she did not want police and intelligence agents.

Bu the point is they are there in Washington D.C. Turista na lang siguro. At the expense of the Filipino people. It’s in my next post, “Welcome intervention.”

Thanks Cocoy for the address. Am writing her and will urge other Pinays here to do the same just to show our gratefulness for helping our beloved country. She is an answer to our prayers. May God bless her!

    Other deetails on the hearing:

    T. Kumar, rights group Amnesty International’s Asia-Pacific advocacy director told the chamber, “It is disturbing to note that even though hundreds have been killed so far, to date there has not been a single conviction.”

I don’t know if Mr. Kumar doesn’t count the conviction of of the gunmen of Marlene Esperat, the Mindanao newshen who was first to expose the Fertilizer Fund scam. Maybe, Amnesty International believes the convicts were mere hired guns and since no mastermind has been convicted, it refuses to consider the Esperat slay closed.

    —–

The three bishops that attended the hearings were Bishop Eliezer M. Pascua, general secretary of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines; Bishop Solito Toquero, resident bishop of the United Methodist Church-Manila; joining the two non-Catholics is the anti-Gloria hardliner, Bishop Deogracias Iñiguez of the Archdiocese of Kalookan.

Also included in the contingent were: Ms Sharon Rose Joy Ruiz-Duremdes, NCCP general secretary; Fr. Jose P. Dizon, executive director of the Workers Assistance Center Inc.; Marie Hilao-Enriquez, secretary general of Karapatan; Edre Olalia of the Counsels for the Defense of Liberties; Athea Peñalosa, information and publicity coordinator of the Children’s Rehabilitation Center; Amirah Ali Lidasan, secretary general and co-founder of the Moro-Christian People’s Alliance.

The United Methodist Bishops (I believe Sen. Boxer and Pres. George Bush are Methodists), which are at the forefront of this church-led indignation, are calling upon their flock to write their Senators to “hold our representatives in Washington accountable for the aid sent to our overseas allies in the name of American people, and to insure that aid is not used to oppose legitimate opposition to government, no matter their political public view, no matter their religious affiliation.”

17 Methodist bishops, mostly from the California-Nevada region, went on a 10-day fact finding mission all over the Philippines because it was their members, from ordinary farmworkers to Bishops, that were victims of extrajudicial killings that were perpetrated by the military.

    In their website, they said:

The decision to host the World Day of Prayer at Westminster Presbyterian was strategic. The Spanish-Mediterranean-styled church in downtown Sacramento sits in the shadow of the California State Capitol.

It also said Rev. Larry Emery, one of the organizers of the event attended by a thousand Americans and Filipinos, called for letter-writing campaigns to U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., who chairs the Senate Foreign Affairs Sub Committee on East Asian and Pacific Affairs.

“Write and call your senators,” he said. “Urge them to conduct a thorough and complete hearing into the human rights violations to determine whether the military is being used to threaten the civil rights and the very lives of the citizens of that nation.”

As the service closed, Emery invited worshippers to carry and leave flowers on the state Capitol steps, along with photos of those killed in the Philippines.

    ——

Before I forget, it was one the same morning that Bishop Pascua was about to address the ecumenical body that he received a call that said another member in Mindanao has just been killed.

On the day he would address a World Day of Prayer worship service at a local church, Bishop Eliezer Pascua was awakened by an early morning phone call from the Philippines.

The general secretary of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines listened as the caller told of the latest killing just hours earlier – another UCCP member gunned down in the streets.

The murder of Renato Torrecampo Pacaide, 53, who was secretary general of a peasant movement in Mindanao, brought to 835 the number of extrajudicial killings in the Philippines in five years. Of that number, more than two dozen church people and clergy have been killed, including a United Methodist pastor. The UCCP has been the hardest hit denomination.

    ——

Regarding Ebdane’s comment on the killing just last Saturday of Bayan Muna leader Se-Che Gandiano, one of UN Rapporteur Alston’s witnesses, it is plain stupid for this Garci-coddling ex-cop to claim Gandiano was an asset for the military and that she was killed by rebels because of her ties with the military.

(Malaya’s report, http://www.malaya.com.ph/mar16/news4.htm, made me ruin my keyboard after reading it. I spilt coffee on it and the spacebar is so sticky.)

It’s moronic, disgustingly idiotic of Ebdane to say that one whose husband and father-in-law were ambushed by, as she claimed to Alston, military forces, to be working for her enemy! If what he says were true, I’m sure Ebdane would have flown her on the first flight out of Mindanao under heavy security and hold a fully-covered press conference in Manila if only to prove what Ebdane believes that her loved ones were victims of NPA rebels. But hell, no! She comfortably remains there, probably the AFP’s best asset, waiting to be murdered, herself.

Whatever this shithead Ebdane says now won’t change how he’s portrayed his own utter brainlessness with that comment. Not even the brightest spinmeisters can turn this stinky crap into gold!

    Tongue,

Thanks very much for the info. I’m really glad that Bishop Iniguez was invited by Sen. Boxer.

Morooooooon!!!

Ellen, prior to the Senate hearing, the RP delegates were in conference the staff of the Lower House Committee on Foreign Relations, chaired by Rep. Tom Lantos, D-Calif., in a closed-door briefing. Di lang pala sa US Senate, pati US House of Reps. din pala!

Slowly, the Democrats in California are probably realizing the Filipinos’ great number in that state is substantially strategic that they should end ignoring us, unlike the Republicans who thought Pinoys were invisible.

Well, my hats are off, my head bowed low, to this delegation of bishops, church workers, and justice-oriented group whose itinerary is yet to be capped by their presentation to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland before the end of March.

If they’re reading this, between then and today, mag-iingat kayo. Sinundan na kayo ng mga kinatatakutan ninyo. We know God will protect you against all evil.

Mabuhay, Mabuhay, Mabuhay ang matatapang na delegates sa isinasagawang investigation ng US Upper and Lower Houses patungkol sa extra judicial killings at human rights abuses sa ilalim ng nagkukunwaring pangulo ng Pilpinas!

  127. What I would like to know is where are the two young ladies who are students of UP, Sheryl and Karen?

    What happened to them?

Why don’t Gloria and her killing machine guys at least have the decency to send back the bodies of these two young women to their families?

They were abducted at daylight in Bulacan… One of them is pregnant.

  128. TonGuE-tWisTeD TonGuE-tWisTeD

    PV,
The courts, the SC if I remember right, issued a habeas corpus order to the AFP to produce the two girls, including one peasant leader, a certain Martin. The AFP casually shrugged off the order, saying “they’re not in our custody”.

Another military captive told reporters just last year he saw the 2 girls in the same military facility he was brought to, the same morning that they were reported abducted a few meters from a military outpost/checkpoint at a time within the curfew hours that the Army has declared in supposed rebel infested villages in Bulacan.

I hope I’m wrong, but I think the 2 girls could be buried in some plot only the military knows where, later to be dug up and ending up as Exhibit 1724A – victims of the communist purge in Bulacan.

It’s pretty tiring, ain’t it, PV?

When will the killings ever stop?

  129. alitaptap alitaptap

    TonGuE-tWisTeD Says:

When will the killings ever stop?

    – – – –
The answer to your question: Never … unless pinoys stop acting like palaka na marunong lang mag-kokak. Acting individually, like all the victims of killings, is not good for the health of the person. Activists must unite and must also plan for eventualities and not leave fates on autopilot. Unless a leader comes up who thinks one step ahead of Gloria, pinoys are doomed to bearing the yoke of d’glue. Tiyanak knows pretty well that pinoys are like palaka, and expoits that to the hilt. Now, if you are a thinking palaka, do a Patton number, outwitting Rommel by reading everything about the German. Gloria is no superwoman – she can be outwitted and clapped in jail, or hang at the gallows.

  130. Tongue T,

Hindi pa nakuha ang mga bangkay nila? I actually submitted their names and petition we made for them when we went to the Japanese Diet to talk on the extrajudicial killings with AI and the UCC leaders, and seek for the stopping of the ODA to the Philippines.

Siason was summoned afterward by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and asked for an explanation on the political killing.

  131. Mrivera Mrivera

  133. Tongue T:

Hindi puedeng hindi kumilos ang mga kano. Not that they do not like or like the Tiyanak but it is now a matter of pure concern because many of the victims of the extrajudicial killings are not actually Catholics but members of the United Church of Christ and Protestant churches to which a lot many of the US Senators and Congressmen belong.

The cries of their fellow churchmembers have reached a proportion that they no longer can ignore, and something should be done especially when aids coming from the US and even Japan are even used to kill them.

It was actually why we were able to bring this matter to the attention of people here in Japan as well. Up until the time when it was clear that a lot of the activists getting killed are church people, not bandits to which these crooks in the bogus government have lumped up the concerned Filipinos, even former members of the CPP who have now become law-abiding citizens and have served their country well enough for their landgrabbing associates in the Philippine Congress to get alarmed that there is now this plan to purge them, and the idiots making true their threat to drive them back to the mountains after the bogus president used them to grab power and try to stay where she is now not only till 2010 but forever if possible.

It is not a joke. There are in fact tell-tale signs that the Tiyanak may look dainty and small but she has a head as big as an empty basketball ball! I understand that when she was a little the mother dotted on her and called her princess that she grew up thinking that she really was and should claim her ascendancy even from Alexander the Great as her father, Dadong, said he was!!! More like lahi ng mga baliw as a matter of fact!

At least, now we know that for a fact that Alexander the Great was gay, and impossible to father so many!!! As the joke says, “Ano siya, apo ni Angelina Jolie? Masaya siya!”

You bet, Tongue T., this is not just a matter of US meddling once more in Philippine affairs. This is a matter of checking whether or not US aids are even used on these victims who are mostly co-churchmembers of a lot many US leaders, Bush included.

At least, the Japanese members of the UCC in Japan have long expressed their displeasure to members of the Japanese Diet, whose members are not even Christians, and the Japanese Embassy in Manila when they went there last year to check on these killings when the number did not even reach 300. They were able to get copies in fact of flyers being distributed by the military as to who their next victims would be. Those flyers have been provided to the AI and various UCCs around the world, the UN and now the US.

Ang sabi nga, “Crime does not pay!” Huhuhuhuhuhuhu! ;-(

  134. This should read, “Mahuhuli at mahuhuli rin.
