Noong isang araw, nagmiting ang mga administrasyon na senador sa isang restaurant. Dumating si Gloria Arroyo at pinag-usapan nilang tungkol sa Blue Ribbon committee na napabalita na noon na mapunta kay Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano.
Siyam ang kaalyado ni Arroyo sa Senado. Sina Edgardo Angara, Joker Arroyo, Juan Ponce-Enrile, Gregorio Honasan Lito Lapid, Richard Gordon, Bong Revilla, at Miriam Santiago. Walo lang talaga kasi ang pangsiyam, si Juan Miguel Zubiri, ay pekeng senador. Hindi siya binoto ng taumbayan. Nandiyan siya sa senado dahil sa mga pekeng boto na mina-manufacture ni Lintang Bedol sa Maguindanao.
Nang araw ng miting na iyon, tinanggap na ni Cayetano ang suhestiyon ng lider ng mga oposisyon na pamunuan niya ang Blue Ribbon Committee. Mahalaga ang Blue Ribbon Committee at napagkasunduan yan sa oposisyon na siyang nakakalamang sa Senado ngayon na kahit sino ang bobotohin sa Senate presidency, ang Blue Ribbon committee ay dapat mapunta sa oposisyon.
Ang Blue Ribbon Committee ang nag-iimbestiga ng mga anomalya para makapag-pasa ng kaukulang batas upang mahinto ang ganoong kalokohan. Noong nakaraang Senado si Sen. Joker Arroyo ang chairman ng Blue Ribbon committee at nakita natin kung paano niya inupuan ang mga imbestigasyon na sangkot ang pamilyang Arroyo lalo na ang Jose Pidal isyu na may kinalaman si Mike Arroyo.
Ayon sa aming napag-alaman pinahiwatig ni Arroyo ang kanyang oposisyon laban kay Cayetano bilang Blue Ribbon committee chairman. Alam natin mainit talaga ang dugo ng pamilyaang Arroyo kay Alan. Kaya nga nila pinatakbo si Joselito Cayetano. Kaya lang sa malas nila nanalo pa rin si Alan. Ganyan katindi ang galit ng taumbayan sa mga Arroyo.
Gusto raw ng Malacañang si Joker Arroyo ulit. Ang kapal talaga, ano?
Malamang tinatakot nila si Villar na kung ipilit si Cayetano, na nagbulgar ng sekretong bank account sa Germany na may kaugnayan kuno sina Arroyo, babawiin nila ang kanilang suporta. Siyam na boto yun. Bagsak ang senate presidency ni Villar.
Ganyan ang sinasabi natin simula-simula pa na mali nitong grupo na binuo ni Villar para lamang niya makuha ang Senate presidency.
Nanalo sila bilang senador dahil sumali siya a oposisyon tiket. Kasi kung nasama siya sa Team Unity ni Arroyo, malamang sinapit niya ang nangyari kay Ralph Recto na pinulot sa kangkungan.
Hindi kasi sigurado si Villar sa suporta ng mga Liberal katulad ni Sen. Mar Roxas at ni Sen. Ping Lacson na kapwa may ambisyon tumakbo sa pagka-presidente sa 2010. Kaya namangka siya sa dalawang ilog. Tinulungan naman siya ng tatlong oposisyon na sina Cayetano, Chiz Escudero at Jinggoy Estrada. Nakakadismaya talaga.
Sinasabi ni Villar na panatilihin raw niya ang pagka-independyente ng Senado. Ito ngayon ang unang pagsubok. Kapag yumuko siya dito sa maga kaalyado ni Arroyo sa Blue Ribbon committee, kalimutan na lang niya ang 2010. Magsama na sila ni Gloria Arroyo.

Ah Ellen, this is a test of the man’s moral courage. If I were him, I would go for bust and pre-empt Malacanang. He will surely gain in stature both in the Senate and in the opinion of Filipino voters if he doesn’t yield.
I’ve once said in a post many months ago that Villar is a businessman who would not want to prejudice his businesses if he takes on Malacanang head on; that confronting the Establishment is not an easy task when you have vultures and cunning animaks in the snake pit. This was why I have always been skeptical of Villar but 3 years is around the corner, he has to weigh pros and cons today early on in the race but if he does it today, i.e., confront the inevitable, pre-empt the bullies in Malacanang, there’s a possibility that the people might be behind him, after all his election back to the Senate by the people was a vote against Arroyo.
Of course, one needs an immense moral courage to face Gloria head on!
And I’m not certain Villar has moral courage. He has the courage of a snake, true but that ain’t moral courage at all.

Just came from a little long extended holiday, however, I keep visiting Ellenville updating myself with all the happenings out there.
The senate presidency is not etched in stone. It is a result of wheeling, dealing and compromises, taking and trusting the words of each other, so much so that in any given time that the main beneficiary that is Villar does not fulfill or commit to what he offered or promised, the aggrieved parties can always opt out, thus withdrawing all the support that in the first place put Villar into the position. So far I’ve been holding and reserving my comments and judgments on the GO break-away group together with Jinggoy, at least until I see how they perform. For me performance and actions and not words are the best basis for judgment and indications on how principled and what kind these people are.
If Villar succumbs to pressure, that means he is nothing but a weak-kneed man without a word of honor, unprincipled no balls trappol, preferring to serve at the whims and caprices of the corrupts and criminals rather than the majority and the electorate that gave him the mandate.
If Cayetano, Chiz and Jinggoy prefer to stay their support with Villar even if the later renegade in his words, what can I say, kundi para silang mga batang inagawan ng candy na nagiiyak at pagkatapos amu-amuin, OK na ang lahat-meaning mga taong walang prinsipiyo, walang paninindigan at mga walang sariling pag-iisip. They don’t deserve the trust and respect of the people. They are of the same kind, deserve each other and should stick together. Sila ay mga Hudas sa taong bayan na naglagay sa kanila sa puwesto.
At para kay Erap, looks like Villar put another one on him again, unless he is a collaborator this time.

Lets face the facts. Loren Legarda is the (wo)man to beat. Twice as topnotcher in the Senate and perceived as the VP winner with FPJ, had not it not for Gloria & Garci’s surreptitious phone calls. Lacson is a close second but he needs the boost which will come in handy if he can handle the blue ribbon committee. Roxas, although also a senate topnotcher, did not live up to his Mr. Palengke image because he was not able to help bring down the price of things being bought from the palengke.
The 4th placer Villar in the recent Senate race is down in the billing under the opposition banner inspite of his money. That’s why he’s clinging to the Senate presidency, the 3rd highest position of the land. Kung mangyari kay Gloria at Noli?
With my foregoing prognosis, I think Villar will end this senate hullabaloo by finally succumbing to Gloria’s innuendos that he will be better off with the administration. This will put Alan Cayetano, Escudero and Jinggoy Estrada in a certain dilemma. Ang landas na tatahakin nila, magiging madilim na kung tuluyan na ring yumuko sila, lumuhod at mag hallelujah kay Gloria. Amen.

Check the past records of the Committee, if it has resolved most of the cases involving the Big Fishes? It is Partisan, Impartial, subject to wheeling, dealing, investigating Body, run by self-interest politicians themselves. Don’t expect it to be any different if it is still Blue…

Lacson ran for a higher office and returning to Senate is allowed by law. But Lapid ran for a lower position and his basis for returning to the Senate is an unconstitutional rider in a law. I think this is a chance for those who are against Lying Cheating Stealing Gloria to do something concrete. Preventing Lapid to assume his post is one less Gloria stooge in the Senate.

You got an idea there, but the fact is, there is no law saying that any senator should resign first before running to any elective position, lower or higher than a senator, hence there’s no rider to speak of, ergo, nothing can be called unconstitutional.
There were debates on that aspect many times before but it did not gain enough momentum. Now, granting that the 14th Congess passed a bill prohibiting a senator to resume his position after losing his bid for any elective position, even it becomes a law, chances are, it will not be retroactive.
Granting again, for the sake of argument that the bill as passed is for immediate implementation, it will naturally affect only one person, Lito Lapid. But as long as Gloria Arroyo is still in Malacanang, no way it will become a law. She will not allow it, she will veto it.
For all we know, Lito Lapid was elected to the Senate not to speak on anything but just to make use of his one vote on anything that will benefit the Arroyo administration.
Ano kaya ang pinangako ni Villar kay Cayetano noong inimbita niyang lumipat sa administraiton. Hindi kaya itong chairmanship ng Blue Ribbon Committee? You’re teaching wrong Japanese over here. Kamikaze means “divine wind.” It is not “harakiri” which literally means “belly cutting” which in ancient times was a ritual of self-disembowelment to save one’s honor.
The Kamikaze pilots in WWII were not committing suicide. They were offering their lives for honor and country. Self-destruction is suicide and it is different in context from “jisatsu,” which is literally “suicide” as the Japanese will understand such concept.

Me, once bitten, twice shy! Noon pa ayoko iyan si Villar. Nayabangan ako sa mamang iyan when he came to Japan with Erap on their way to Korea for a state Visit in 1999. Panay ang dikit kay Erap, and gave the impression that he was faithful to the former president tapos in 2000, siya ang unang-unang tumaga kay Erap.
I can’t trust such kind of people, you know. Sa Japan, ang mga ganyan, walang nakikipagkaibigan. Napilitan lang nga akong isama iyan sa GO dahil sa suggestion ng barkada ko. Otherwise, I would not recommend GO 11+0! Tama talaga ang kutob ko. Kaya ngayon, burado na rin si Escudero at Cayetano sa akin even when they say that they will reunite with the other GO candidates on issues.

It appears that pro-GMA Enrile’s bloc of nine is manipulating the choice of major committee chairmanship. Villar’s bloc of six must make a firm stand whether they are with the administration or with the opposition. There should be no in-between. It’s not right for the losers in the last election are the one’s dictating the outcome of the power play. Villar’s bloc of six plus Pimentel’s solid eight forms the new majority in the senate.
