‘Mike Arroyo is NBN deal mystery man’

by Dennis Gadil

Jose de Venecia III yesterday said Miguel “Mike” Arroyo tried to bully him into backing out from the controversial national broadband network project in favor of Zhong Xing Telecommunications Equipment Corp. (ZTE), the Chinese company allegedly sponsored by Elections chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr.

mike-arroyo.jpg“It is with a heavy heart that I cannot deny that it was First Gentleman Mike Arroyo at the reconciliatory meeting,” De Venecia said at the first hearing by the Senate blue ribbon into the allegedly overpriced $329 million contract.

De Venecia, son of Speaker Jose de Venecia, earlier said there was a “powerful” man who joined Abalos in asking him to drop the bid of his company, Amsterdam Holdings Inc., during a meeting at Wack Wack Golf Club also attended by Transport Secretary Leandro Mendoza.

joey-de-venecia.jpgThe young De Venecia said an angry Arroyo pointed a finger at him during the “reconciliatory” meeting and told him in a loud voice to “back off.”

De Venecia, using Iloilo Vice Gov. Rolex Suplico as a prop, demonstrated before the committee chaired by Sen. Alan Cayetano how Arroyo tried to bully him.

Suplico has filed a case before the Supreme Court to void the ZTE contract. He was also invited by the blue ribbon as a resource person.

De Venecia said the finger of the Arroyo was only two inches away from his face.

De Venecia said it was clear to him that Arroyo was brought to the meeting by Abalos to intimidate him.

He said the meeting took place in the middle of March this year in a function room alongside the veranda of Wack Wack clubhouse in Mandaluyong City.

De Venecia said Arroyo was wearing a white barong tagalog during the meeting.

“I do, however, want to make clear that it was his presence alone that I observed and I have no other indication of his participation in the NBN project or the deal with ZTE,” De Venecia said.

De Venecia said the meting was arranged by Mendoza.

He said in the same meeting, Abalos told him that the he had already forgiven him of his sins.

De Venecia said he ignored Abalos’ remark.

De Venecia said Arroyo and Abalos left him alone at the table after the First Gentleman’s outburst.

Mr. Arroyo left Monday on board a Cathay Pacific flight for Hong Kong . His final destination was reportedly Spain. He was accompanied by his cousin Benito Araneta.

The senators said they are likely to subpoena Arroyo.

The senators also agreed to issue subpoenas to Mendoza, Trade Secretary Peter Favila and Higher Education Chairman Romulo Neri, who was planning secretary when the deal with ZTE was signed, after the three failed to appear at yesterday’s hearing.

The three Cabinet members said their appearance would violate the sub judice rule as the case filed by Suplico is now being heard by the Supreme Court.

De Venecia said he believed that President Arroyo was not aware of the kickbacks asked by Abalos from the ZTE officials.

“I’m quite clear that my personal knowledge is that the President is not involved in this controversy,” he said on questioning of Sen. Francis Pangilinan.

De Venecia added: “The assertion is that it was only chairman Benjamin Abalos who came to me to negotiate a cooperative partnership with AHI with regards to the national broadband contract.”

He added his father was not involved in the controversy.

“My President and my Speaker are not aware of the technological intricacies of the NBN project. But they’re aware of the project,” De Venecia said.

Sen. Francis Chiz Escudero, however, said Mr. Arroyo’s intervention on behalf of Abalos indicated involvement on the part of President Arroyo.

Escudero said Secretary Mendoza is an alter ego of the President and his actions indicated the “involvement of Malacañang.”

“It was the First Gentleman who told me to back off and it was not my president, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, who told me to back off,” De Venecia said.

De Venecia referred to President Arroyo as “my president” all throughout the hearing.

De Venecia’s unusual reference to the President prompted Escudero and Senators Panfilo Lacson and Maria Ana Consuelo Madrigal to say they do not consider Mrs. Arroyo as “their president.”

De Venecia said he had no intentions of seeking to bring down the Arroyo government when he linked Mr. Arroyo to the ZTE deal.

He also apologized to the family of retired police general Edgar Dula whom he mistakenly named as part of the “entourage” of Abalos every time a meeting was held on the broadband project.

De Venecia said it was retired police general Quirino de la Torre who was present during the meetings.

De la Torre was reportedly the comptroller of the PNP when it was headed by Mendoza. De la Torre was nominee of the party list Alliance of Neo-Conservatives which lost in the last elections.

Aside from De la Torre, De Venecia also named Ruben Reyes and Jimmy Paz as the companions of Abalos during their meetings. Reyes is said to be a classmate of Diosdado “Buboy” Macapagal Jr., younger brother of President Arroyo, while Paz is a staffer of Abalos.

They will be the subjects of the subpoena the Senate is expected to issue.

De Venecia said he could not determine if the companions of Abalos were participants in the alleged kickback scheme.

“There’s no way to question their motives in sitting in those meetings.” He said.

De Venecia said he was not afraid that Malacañang might oust his father as Speaker in retaliation.

“Trying to unseat him would be the worst thing to do to a man who has been loyal and has his own vision for the country. I will not retract my statement. If invited to the House for the same investigation, I will stay the same thing there,” De Venecia said.

He said he came out because he could not stomach the $130 million commission demanded by Abalos from ZTE, “a burden that would be shouldered by his generation and the future generation.”

“This is my small contribution in fighting corruption,” he said.

Lacson said President Arroyo seemed to be in the know about the ZTE deal as she was in Shenzhen, China, in October of last year for a “golf tour” in the company of Mr. Arroyo, Speaker De Venecia, Abalos and ZTE officials.

The young De Venecia said he knew about the Shenzhen meeting.

On questioning by Lacson, De Venecia later said President Arroyo was indeed aware that Abalos was pushing ZTE to undertake the project.

The young De Venecia said President Arroyo told Abalos to just pattern the ZTE proposal after the one submitted by AHI.

He said he knew about this from his father who overheard the conversation between President Arroyo and Abalos.

De Venecia said even if a bidding is conducted, his company will no longer participate.

Cayetano said the hearing will resume tomorrow.

In deciding to issue subpoenas, Cayetano said there is nothing in the rules that say these should be preceded by invitations.

Escudero said the excuse given by the Cabinet secretaries was unacceptable.

“Sub judice cannot be invoked as an excuse not to attend the proceedings of these honorable committees. Our rules are clear on the matter. The fact that there is a pending case before any courts – administrative, civil or criminal – is not an excuse or reason for us not to hear and conduct an inquiry on the matter,” he said.

Cayetano earlier said that Transport Undersecretary Lorenzo Formoso had confirmed his attendance but did not show up.

ZTE vice president Yu Yong could not be located.

The decision to dispense with invitations before issuing subpoenas was suggested by Senate minority leader Aquilino Pimentel Jr.

“Some persons fly away from the territory of this country… which is an admission of guilt… This is an indication that they will not honor an invitation so I would suggest to issue subpoenas directly to people of this nature,” Pimentel said.

Pimentel also asked Cayetano to have Neri “bodily dragged” to the session hall where the ZTE hearing is ongoing.

“We have to assert the dignity of this chamber, we cannot just allow people to say one thing and act differently from what they represent in their letters,” Pimentel said.

Neri reportedly was offered $10 million to endorse the broadband project as planning secretary. – With JP Lopez

If the Mystery Man is Mike Arroyo, what’s next? Babalik ba iyang gagong iyan agad? In his absence, it would again be his highly paid Bulakeno lawyer Atty. Jesus Santos doing the talking. Expect all lies coming from this bastard again.

  2. maarte - September 18, 2007 2:59 pm

Eto naman si Iggy Arroyo…he came to his brother’s rescue by saying his brother’s trip has long been planned. Ulol ! He might again admit he’s the Mystery Man to save his brother’s fat ass.

I never expect that Joey De Venecia III demonstrated something that his father did not show all this years, BALLS. Big Congratulations to you Joey Boy. Perhaps one of these days we can do some business together. Hey youll never know. With regards to the Mystery Man, the whole nation knows that all transaction specially foreign investment has to pass the gauntlet of corrupt officials. With this brazen display of disregard to DELICADEZA, it is quite embarassing just like Joey was saying on his experience in China when Aba-Lost demanded his cut. Do you guys smell what the hell is cookin… Impeachment finally…. This puts Erap in the nursery category. The deal needs to be junked plain and simple, jail all the personalities involved, more so do it like in China, FIRING SQUAD. The Senate should start using their real power anyone that they invite and refuse, arrest them and jail them. Start cleaning the house from the top so we achieve an actual clean up. Start with the Supreme Court – jail all the Prostitutes there, Executive and last but not the least the Legislative and hey dont forget the Prostitutes in the Military. If and when they run put of jail to accomodate Sergio Apostol and the equally stupid Nograles, Angie Reyes, oooh Totie Bunye and DOJ Chief Si-Raulo Gonzalez, dont worry we can temporarily house them in a pig sty, perfect place where they belong.

Dont worry guys, with the current global banking rules, lets see what will happen. Once Arroyo becomes dispensable to the interest of other countries, she will be spit out like a spoiled balut. He he he, He went to Germany, huh, I hope Allan never used the word “Waiver” and instead used other term like an “Authorization to Verify” so that Fat Bastard cant get away with the issue. I remember how pissed I was watching it on ANC when he said to Allan something like “you dont have the balls to accept our offer for you to come to Germany. That was the most stupid thing I ever heard.

Joey De Venecia also revealed that shameless Comolek Chairman Benjamin Abalos Sr. was asking his final tong-commission from ZTE officials. Kapalmuks talaga!

Even if the “mystery man” is unveiled if the “mystery woman” is still at large, bale wala rin ang lahat ng dramang ito! Just like the Pidal case, this will be hot at first and lalangawin din in the end because all the witnesses are bribed with positions, contracts and money! I am skeptical of the outcome of the hearings. Look at what is happening to the “hello Garci”. It is disgusting that the senate is centered on Doble’s life and not what he had witnessed-the wiretapping. Same same! Cayetano and Escudero better shape up! Kumilos kayo bago huli ang lahat!

With all the anomalies left and right related to the tiyanak and her alipores, the Senate have their hands full. I do not want to be in their shoes right now.

Now Allan can tell Arroyo a line something like this ” Yo Mikey, Wassup, now, who is your Daddy? So I dont have balls, huh. Let us see, sooner or later ‘ You will be my biaatche” . Mikey your worst nightmare is about to begin, but I believe, Allan is fair enough to give him chance to explain. This time no more waiver, ano na lang daw, Waive na lang as in Bye Bye I am going inside..

Tiyanak talaga

Well, Well! Look who’s talking! It’s a standing joke that JDV clone gets to deliver the bad news, that his big misery man is gone. He was cold and snappish in the outset, and cringe before the displeasure of his rude prick dad. I had actually assumed that the ZTE deal expose is a scripted run-up that Junior thought he could get a large masang pilipino to join him simply because he is the son of the speaker and when he told about the mystery man Pinoy will praise him, Ulol, he talked because he did not get the deal. That turned out to be wrong. Junior never gave a damn about his people, so, with the Senior, They wanted to use these scam deal, having thought that people would magically believe because people everywhere just wanna hear and do nothing about it, He has been revealed to be even more of an idiot than I previously thought. Grow up Junior! Your subject had escaped.

Let me quote what Abraham Lincoln– ” I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts. ”

Our whole freaking government system is severely screwed-up and needs fixing. Unfortunately, most of it if not all, our legislatures are adamant in their belief that the current system or process cannot be changed, reformed. They all compromised. Sadly, this may be true, I seriously doubt it. If they won’t half of the 81 million Filipinos can .

Notes on the ZTE-NBN brouhaha and the Senate hearing:

    * Up to a certain point, I was looking at Joey de Venecia with suspicion behind his motives. After seeing him teary-eyed as he described the strain created by his revelations on his relationship with his father, I became more convinced that he is telling his piece of truth. I may not entirely believe his grand motive of doing something “for my own generation, and for the generations to follow”, but, I now believe that there is something noble in his motive.

    * His way of referring to Aling Gloria as “my President” betrays only his efforts to protect whatever is left of his relationship with his father. His well pronounced accent on the word “my” however sounded more of his attempt at sarcasm. His words may unmistakably sound like he was clearing Aling Gloria of involvement, but, I think, he is well aware that he had already dragged her into the mess by identifying Mike Arroyo as the mystery man.

    * I saw Senator Enrile in the panel but I did not hear him speak even once. I may have turned my television on quite late.

    * I suspected that Mike Arroyo is involved in the controversy all along. What I don’t understand is why I feel more outraged after knowing what I already expected to know.

    * How brazen can this government get? Mike Arroyo flying out of the country on the very eve of a Senate hearing that would cause Joey de Venecia to name the “mystery man”? I presume, representations were made to keep Joey from revealing Mike Arroyo’s involvement before. The flight plan may have been hatched only after Joey mentioned the “mystery man”. Flight is a sign of guilt, didn’t Mike Arroyo know that? Indeed, didn’t Aling Gloria know that?

    * Where is the collective outrage now? lantaran na ang panggagago nitong gobyernong ito sa sambayanang sinumpaang paglilingkuran! It’s only now that I feel I’ve had enough reasons to borrow Aling Yuko’s (and B&W’s)famous line: PATALSIKIN NA! NOW NA!

Grow up Junior! Your subject had escaped.”

    Pareng Cocoy,

You may be right. I had the same reservations before. During the entire hearing, Joey did not even come out, at least to me, as the eloquent speaker I expected him to be. I may be too emotional having taken his strained-relations-between-me-and-Dad “theatrics”, pero para sa akin, mas naging kapanipaniwala siya at mas naging malinaw ang posibilidad na may sakripisyo rin siya sa paglalahad na ito. Siguro, I am just applying my own view of how a father-son relationship should be.

When I saw him teary-eyed, the first question that came to my mind was “dati ba itong artista?”. Having recalled that not one movie ever featured him even as an extra, I softened up. If it were Jinggoy’s or Mikey Arroyo’s eyes, I would have dismissed it outright as just another crap.

It’s easy to see the perspective of a losing bidder who’s gone into sourgraping but it’s more difficult to justify going to war against your old man. Now more than ever, I believe Joey de Venecia is telling his piece of the truth- whatever his motives are.

Now is the chance of Cayetano to prove his worth by putting his own evidences on the table against the Fat Guy. What he is said to keep in his file can never be obsolete but relevant to exposing the dirty deals the Fat Guy has been doing to increase his family assets. These opposition senators should join hands in exposing these criminals who are squatting at the palace by the murky river.

Hopefully, when he goes to the US, someone can tip off the US government about his money laundering activity so the Fat Guy can be apprehended and investigated by US authorities on his illegal activities. It should be done likewise by countries in Europe. The Interpol should be notified about the forthcoming Senate summon for the Fat Guy. There is actually such kind of procedure to bring all criminals to justice.

She’s willing to create a political noise that’s designed to reach a very high decibel if the price is right.

I remembered that back during Erap’s impeachment trial, it was Aling Miriam who said that the natural course for a lawyer is to move to another firm that offers higher salaries- that was while attempting to discredit a witness, Atty. Jasmin Banal.

Mukhang pera talaga.

    “There was no such meeting.

This was how Benjamin Abalos Sr., chairman of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), denied his and First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo’s involvement in the national broadband network (NBN) deal with China’s ZTE Corp.

Abalos said the meeting at which Jose “Joey’’ de Venecia III claimed he was told to “back off” from the project by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s husband never happened.

“It’s a big lie. There was no such meeting. Why don’t you ask Transportation and Communications Secretary Leandro Mendoza if there [was] such a meeting?” Abalos told reporters.”

Enrile and Gringo enjoys their millions of pork barrel and business protection for the former.

MBC would rather have a Korap Kwin in their league than Erap the artista lang!

Si arsobispo Rosales at bispo Soc Villegas ay mga mayordomo na ni Gloria Lucifera, while Mike Velarde is getting richer conniving with the impakta!

    Happy sila lahat except for:

Walang tao sa kalsada kasi ay nasa overseas para mapakain at mapag-aral ang mga anak, sinadya iyan ni Gloria Lucifera!

you were stranded on an isolated, uninhabited island somewhere in the pacific (your cruise ship sank as you were on a pleasure trip). as you were walking around one day, you found out that GMA, mike arroyo, hermogenes esperon, & the entire arroyo cabinet were also stranded in that island. what do you do?

    a) catch piranhas and cook it for them

    b) catch piranhas and cook them for the fish

    c) ignore them as if they don’t exist

    d) swim back to the sea and die happier

Kasi raw, meron away noon si Mendoza at Ebdane and Lomibao is seen by Mendoza as the latter’s EENT in that office.

Burgos was asking why Mendoza is malakas ang loob not to obey his president. Sabi niya, is it because of his knowledge of the ZTE?

Major Lazaro Makapagal, along with four soldiers, was given orders to lead the Bonifacio brothers to Mt. Nagpatong. Makapagal was also given a sealed envelope with strict orders not to open it until they reached the mountains. On May 10, 1897, at Mt. Nagpatong, Major Lazaro Makapagal opened the letter, faced the Supremo and his brother, and read its contents aloud. Andres and Procopio were to be executed by firing squad or he himself would be shot. It was signed by General Mariano Noriel. Makapagal turned his back and his soldiers opened fire on the Bonifacio brothers. “http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andr%C3%A9s_Bonifacio

I was the one who thought of this Mike Arroyo but many didn’t listen and instead pointed to another guy. Wala akong sinisisi. Inis at nanghihinayang lang ako. It would be long when he returns. The bottom line is this: Don’t trust politician who haven’t taken a class in public school to tell you the truth about living condition issues. They don’t have a lot of experience going to school with only pandesal for breakfast, ham and egg and toast bread are prepared for them, so chances are they’re going to end up relying on abundance they learned from their parents and when they don’t have no more money, they steal! Big Mike just done it! Politicians are liars and anyone who tells you otherwise is a liar too. If you ever doubt that lying is part of a politician’s daily work, all you need to do is listen to one talk about social problem and you’ll realize the truth, that all of them are corrupt.

It can be quite amusing to watch these clown politicians debate on ZTE scam and the subject ran away with all the money, It can be quite amusing to learn how did Abalos managed to have an orgies with Tsinitas who could be considered as his bastard grandchildren, It can be quite amazing that Mirriam is flirting with Doble! Abangan! The mudslinging arguments rarely get more intelligent than that. And they will be doing a great service to the Filipino people. The mere action na lumabas si JoeydV and named the Big One as Mike Pidal and all those present in the meeting where he was told to “back off” by the Pig should be commended.

If he didn’t tell the truth about the big personalities and kikback involved in ZTE, we’re still guessing for the identities of the “mystery man”, who’s also the Big One, and the Little One Gloria.

Meron din siyang pananagutan rito dahil bawal sa batas na sumali siya sa bidding, but that’s besides the point for now. It’s interesting to watch what the old JdV is gonna do now that the son is the center of the Pidal’s smear campaign.

First of all these broadband wireless sophisticated technology will not lift the problem of poverty in our country. I could agree more, for every household to have a connection to this broadband,to their internet through their microwave and gasul range, if whenever they press a key, see, for instance type–STEAK–Meduim rare–at lalabas na ang steak sa oven, Okey iyon,di ba? Why not!

Pero sa lahat ng mga kaso tungkol sa contraband, this may be the only one out to be legitimized. PGMA says that the country should honor all government contracts. That is fine. But whenever there is the appearance of contraband contract like this is, haul all the persons involved to jail.

Hindi ko rin kilala itong Eugenio Perez but my family knew the former Comelec Commisioner Perez from Nueva Vizcaya. Iyong lolo nitong Joey was from Pangasinan. No relation doon sa Perez from Cavite and Batangas.

  105. ystakei - September 19, 2007 8:36 am

Ako never bilib doon sa sakit-sakitan ni Baboy. Alam ko trying hard lang na magpapayat even by liposuction. Ang masama charged sa taumbayan. Nagluluto lang ng operation for the election para doon sa mga tuta ng asawa niya dahil survival nila ang nakasalalay. Lahat ng ginagawa ng animal na iyan secret combination defined as a connivance with the devil. Tignan mo naman ang mga grupong in-organize. Hindi pa natakot na i-quote iyong mga demonyo who called themselves as “legion” at sumalin sa katawan ng mga baboy na nalunod. Tapos manloloko pang nagbabasa daw ng Biblia.

Based on what I read, Jose de Venecia, Sr. (lolo) was judge of Court of First Instance whose record was clean daw.

But then, of course, I’m basing my opinion on my own experience as contractual interpreter cum investigator in the Tokyo Police.

Dito kasi, Chi, hindi puedeng makialam ang PM sa trabaho outside of his duties and responsibilities as PM. In short, hindi siya puedeng makialam sa trabaho ng pulis, court and even military without proper channels.

Pihado puedeng idagdag iyong revelation niya. Sayang sumakabilang buhay na.

Thanks for the info, good to know a little bit about our great leaders of the past. Nakakainggit naman sila noon, politicians could be great unlike now that politicians are degenerates.

So, if former Speaker Perez was a Pangasinense also, he’s not related to Marcos’ crony Perez as I suspected.

Yup, he went through an operation alright, nagpaalis ng taba sa katawan!

Chi: ang pagkakaalam ko si Speaker Perez was from Pangasinan..There house was in Sierra Madre, QC and Vicky went to STC, QC. Ang sabi sa akin nang isang kaklase niya, ..that after their divorce she has been living here in the States. STC is a small school..Ang pagkasabi pa sa akin ng isang high school classmate ni JdV in De La Salle, ambisosyo daw talaga si JdV, and it was a good opportunity for him to marry the Speaker’s daughter..pero I guess when he got politically stable they divorced and he later married Gina, the younger sister of Marichu Vera Perez of Sampaguita Pictures, who was married to Ernesto Maceda..JdV must be about 8 years older than Vicky, and Gina is younger than Vicky..Wise talaga si JdV..

Most of those who migrated to Pangasinan in fact came from La Union and those to Nueva Vizcaya from the Ilocos region.

Progressing in corruption and regressing in service to the people..

Ang alam ko si Leonardo Perez because he was from Nueva Vizcaya and remotely related to my mother’s relatives, and reason I guess why he became a Marcos’ aide.

Most Asian countries have a tradition of giving gratuity to the broker, especially when the broker is a government official. It is customary and is not considered unethical.

What is unethical is the Philippine practice of having too many hands demanding money for the same deal as in the case of this ZTE transaction with the Malacanang occupants getting the most of the “suhol.” I should know. It was what we discovered in fact with this deal on the Philippine patrimonies in Japan that actually has discouraged a lot many bidders who are really being unfairly fleeced.

In the case of this Chinese deal, the Chinese probably think they can gain access to confidential agreements between the Philippines and the US, etc. that is why they do not mind the enormous amount being demanded by the Fatso and his cohorts.

I think it’s time we took a breather and looked back on what we’ve accomplished in the past twelve months.

When I conceived the Luli Arroyo Internet Brigade, I saw a long fight ahead. I pictured sleepless nights replying point by point to every destabilizer-with-an-internet-connection. I looked at the task ahead, and despaired.

However, it’s taken surprisingly little effort to achieve our intended goals. Why? Because our enemies have been doing our job for us.

    To wit:

The partnership between the Communists, the Cory faction, and the Erap/FPJ faction: a master-stroke in undermining credibility. I wish I could take credit for it, and I commend you, my agents, for keeping a straight face as Jinggoy and Cory stood together in solidarity against my mom. I wish I’d thought of putting Guingona and Erap back together, as if the impeachment never happened. They shot themselves in the foot – we didn’t even need to pull the trigger!

OK, so I thought we still had the Church to contend with – but my worries vanished when that Bishop fulsomely apologized to Erap for that little misunderstanding called Edsa II. Problem solved – and we didn’t even lift a finger!

Credibility-reducing hyperbole. And I thought I’d seen it all when Imee Marcos all but accused my mom of being a “liar and thief”. But when the destabilizers began to bandy around words like “worse than Martial Law” to refer to my mom’s presidency, I knew the movement had jumped the shark!

Mission accomplished? Hell no! There’s quite a ways to go. But it looks like they’re saving us the trouble: the more our opponents come out looking like they’ve forgotten to take their Tourette’s medication, the more their media sympathizers cry wolf, the more they substitute wacky conspiracy theories for astute analysis – all the more they defeat themselves!

Cringeworthy public appearances. We’ve already talked about the strange bedfellows of the Left and Right uniting against the government. Scratch that. I’m talking about the Black and White Movement’s regular Friday tea parties-cum-public protests. I’m talking about Maria Theresa Pangilinan throwing a tantrum at her own graduation. I’m talking about every single instance where the destabilizers get together to wave flags and choke traffic, and piss off the undecided who would otherwise be attracted to their cause.

The reactions to the people’s overwhelming non-reaction have come in two flavors – “Gloria’s people are working against us to keep us down”, or “Fuck the middle class, they can’t take a hint.” Neither of which are even close to the truth. But, brigadiers, we want them to keep believing this. We want them to keep believing that the Luli Arroyo Internet Brigade has been largely responsible for the utter silence that greets them every time they enter a Starbucks in a black shirt. We want them to believe they can “rearrange the furniture” around an apathetic middle class. The greater the gulf between the opposition and reality, the more successful we shall become!

Stay vigilant, my agents – in time, the opposition, for all intents and purposes, will BE the Luli Arroyo Internet Brigade!

    Love and kisses,

LULI A. (My Mommy right or wrong!)

So as expected, this loud mouth Atty. Santos is doing all the talking while his big client is absent. Tangna nila. Abalos, Mendoza and Mike are golf mates and play at Wack Wack. And there’s a reconciliatory meeting going on between Abalos and Joey that’s intended to compel Joey to back off from the deal. Why was Mike Arroyo there? Anyone could just give excuse. That’s what Abalos said when he met the Zubiris at one social occasion. Nagkita lang daw sila. The problem is would it hold in court in Joey’s favor? It comes down again to one’s word against another.
