Eight killed, 120 hurt in Makati mall blast

Update:Trillanes says Glorietta Bombing Malacanang Handiwork

“I believe the Glorietta 2 mall blast that killed eight and wounded hundred other persons is the handiwork of Malacanang Palace, particularly National Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales and AFP Chief of Staff Hermogenes Esperon.

“It very looks like a repeat of Oplan Greenbase, perpetrated by the administration in 2003 in Mindanao, where a series of bombings rocked the island, killing innocent people and destroying property. Those bombings remain unexplained to this day.

“This blast is most likely another tactic of the administration to divert public attention away from the controversies hounding GMA.

“Like Oplan Greenbase, this blast is a pretext for assorted measures GMA may again concoct, like exercise of emergency powers, possibly even martial law, to justify repressive actions against the people to clamp down on peaceful protests and subdue the rising public clamor for her to resign.

“Malacanang has no compunction in doing this kind of dastardly act. Aside from the Mindanao bombings, this administration is also believed to be responsible for the extra-judicial killings. They have done it before. They will do it again, if not stopped from their tracks. They will do everything just to ensure that GMA stays in power.

From ABs-CBN online:

Eight people were killed while at least 89 others were injured after an explosion ripped through an upscale mall in Makati City Friday afternoon.

Red Cross and police officials said 56 people injured in the blast were rushed to Makati Medical Center while 33 others were brought to Ospital ng Makati.

In a press conference, Philippine National Police chief Avelino Razon said the blast in the Glorietta 2 ground level at 1:30 p.m. was “probably caused by a bomb” and not a gas leak as earlier reported.

“This was a bomb. But beyond that we can’t say anything else yet because we are still investigating. What I can say is it was not LPG that caused this,” Razon told reporters.

He said there was still no conclusive evidence to determine if the blast was caused by a C-4 bomb, a military explosive, or any other improvised explosive device. He added that the police cannot definitely say if the explosion was a terrorist attack.

Director Geary Barias, National Capital Region Police Office chief, said bomb debris carpeted a 200 square-meter area in the mall. “The ceilings are damaged and may collapse,” Barias said.

The explosion ripped through the roof of the mall and damaged nearby shops. Debris from the blast were scattered on the streets.

A general alert has been issued for the rest of the city and for the international airport, officials said. A meeting of the National Security Council was called for later in the day.

Barias placed all police units in Metro Manila on full alert status and ordered district offices to put up more checkpoints in the metropolis. He added that he will order more policemen deployed in nearby malls to maintain peace and order.

“We will send policemen to other malls to restore order especially here in Makati and to prevent any untoward incident,” Barias told reporters.

The blast, which occurred during lunch-hour, spread panic in the city of 12 million people, which has in the past been the scene of attacks by Muslim separatist rebels.

Several shoppers said the blast was heard from a nearby baby store in the mall. Liana Navarro, sister of Black and White Movement’s Leah Navarro and who was in the mall with her mother, said several people including children were seen with “obvious injuries.”

Another witness, Arel Vertucio, said the explosion was so strong that it was felt up to the third level of the mall. Vertucio said he saw some people lying on the ground.

Eyewitness Icy Marinas was only 15 meters away from the Glorietta explosion when it occurred. She said the blast felt like an “intense earthquake.”

She said she saw a pregnant woman crying after the blast while other women started rushing out of the mall with their families. She added that she saw “three bloodied men” near the blast site while the security guards just stood around with no reaction.

Charlie Nepomuceno, an employee at the Glorietta mall, said the powerful explosion appeared to have centered on an escalator.

“It left a deep crater at the foot of the escalator,” he said. “It also ripped open the roof of the building. I saw a man thrown on to the roof who had lost a leg.”

He said a badly mangled body of a woman was near the escalator.

Manila has largely been spared a spate of bomb attacks by Muslim rebels that have plagued the southern Mindanao region. But it has been hit in the past. A series of bomb blasts in 2000 killed at least 22 people.

President Arroyo ordered the police to “leave no stone unturned” in its investigation on the explosion.

“The President is deeply saddened by this incident and extends her sympathies to the families of the casualties…She has also ordered the PNP to get to the bottom of things and to leave no stone unturned,” Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye said in a statement.

Bunye said the President also ordered the Department of Social Welfare and Development to extend assistance to the victims. With a report from Reuters

“Like much else connected with Marcos, the declaration of martial law had a theatrical, smoke-and-mirrors quality. The incident that precipitated Proclamation 1081 was an attempt, allegedly by communists, to assassinate Minister of National Defense Enrile. As Enrile himself admitted after Marcos’s downfall in 1986, his unoccupied car had been riddled by machinegun bullets fired by his own men on the night that Proclamation 1081 was signed.”

I hope and pray this will be NOT be the same scenario to divert attention from HER scandals!

    From ABS-CBN online:

Traces of C4 found at Makati blast site

An explosion which killed eight people and wounded 89 others in a shopping mall in the Philippine capital Manila on Friday was caused by a bomb, police sources said.

Reuters reported that police sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said traces of C4 plastic explosives were found at the location. The bomb appeared to have been left near a cellphone repair shop at the bottom of an escalator, they said.

Philippine National Police chief Avelino Razon earlier debunked reports that the blast that hit Glorietta 2 ground level at 1:30 p.m. was caused by a gas leak.

“This was a bomb. But beyond that we can’t say anything else yet because we are still investigating. What I can say is it was not [liquefied petroleum gas] that caused this,” Razon told reporters.

Director Geary Barias, National Capital Region Police Office, has placed all police units in Metro Manila on full alert status and ordered district offices to put up more checkpoints in the metropolis.

Barias also said he will order more policemen deployed in nearby malls to maintain peace and order.

A job of the usual suspects. Bistado na kaya it’s time for Puno to come in and blame the Abus or Reds. I won’t be surprised if Puno will say ninakaw ng Abus or Reds and C4 plastic explosives sa militar para maghasik ng lagim sa Metro Manila. Razon will then have the reason to fortify MM and charge all Gloria’s critics with HSA.

To the cowards that plan/planted this bomb; shame on you!
I have a strong feeling that this is another Gloria’s and boys’diversionary tactic. They always find a way to distract people to unfocus on them. Just look at the timing?

    The Equalizer,

For their survival in their stolen power!!!

  11. pechanco - October 19, 2007 8:59 pm

Instead of bombing the Mall, they should have bombed Malacanang. I knew it was coming. But I hoped not at the expense of innocent civilians. They should have bombed during the time when cash gifts were being distributed to the politicians para pati ang mga pera masunog. GMA’s reaction was quick as if she knew it was going to happen. Most likely, gawa into ng intelligence unit ng Malacanang and then again blame it on the Communist or Muslim extremists. Papasok na naman ang mga Kano. Nasa bansa na nga ang dalawang US warships for stand by.

    1) who would have the REAL MOTIVE?
    -Gloria and minions
    2)Who would have the capability?
    -AFP (the gloria lapdogs only)
    3)Who stands to gain?
    – Gloria regime gains bigtime.
4)Who would be so ruthless to inflict pain on innocent civilians?
-Gloria and boys pa rin, if they don’t care about starving filipino people by stealing money, raising taxes, etc. How can it be more different from inflicting pain to civilians?
5)What’s the real game plan that will evolve after this dastardly act?
-Martial law, to divert attention so they can put the blame on the opposition.

from the reactions of malacanang , i am more inclined to think that this was similar to what Trillanes had revealed about Davao and Gen San bombing…

who has access to high explosives?
who has capability to breach Glorieta’s securities?
who is is dire need to divert attention from being caught red handed in this scandalous bribery acts? and equally scandalous contracts?

This was the statement issued to media through a text message by the office of former Navy officer and neophyte senator Antonio Trillanes IV through a text message.

Trillanes’s camp tagged National Security Adviser Norberto Gonzalez and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Hermogenes Esperon as possibly behind the incident.

It added that the incident was similar to “Oplan Greenbase” which allegedly included in its plan the bombing of the Davao international airport and the Sasa wharf in 2003.

off topic, just to cool us down:

“Women in several countries have begun sending their panties to Myanmar embassies in a culturally insulting gesture of protest against the recent brutal crackdown there, a campaign supporter said Friday.

“It’s an extremely strong message in Burmese and in all Southeast Asian culture,” said Liz Hilton, who supports an activist group that launched the “Panties for Peace” drive earlier this week.

The group, Lanna Action for Burma, says the country’s superstitious generals, especially junta leader Gen. Than Shwe, also believe that contact with women’s underwear saps them of power.”

  59. luzviminda - October 19, 2007 11:14 pm

Pssssssst! Esperon. You are a son of a baboon!

  61. pnoynrs - October 19, 2007 11:25 pm

a classic gloria show; another diversionary tactic at the expense of innocent filipino people. kaya lang hindi ito orig kasi ginawa na ito ni marcos noon, kaya sana naman mag-isip ng ibang paraan itong si unano.how long can we filipinos suffer?

  62. ipaglaban_mo - October 19, 2007 11:25 pm

Hoy Gloria! Ano kami? Uto-uto? Lokohin mo lelang mo. You’re the one destabilizing yourself at the expense of those innocent civilians. Style mo bulok! We gave you so many chances, you keep on blowing it… Get out!

  63. AdeBrux - October 19, 2007 11:28 pm

Although this is not at all any consolotion, we can be thankful that the death toll is not in the hundreds…

With regard to this blast, I’m keeping an open mind — could be the handiwork of terrorist, rebel parallel armies, could be just an accident, could be the work of pro-Arroyo group or anti-Arroyo group.

One thing I see is that this tragedy will reinforce international belief that the Philippines is an unstable country with an unstable govt. Foreign governments will be posting negative travel advisories against the Philippines again and could be very bad for business in the short term.

And because we know that Gloria can be diabolical, she might use this to declare emergency rule.

  64. pnoynrs - October 19, 2007 11:29 pm

chi tama ang panawagan mo sa U.S. embassy to get gloria out and throw her in Guantanamo Bay. Nararapat lang kay unano yun, after all Guantanamo Bay is the Bay Of Pigs. hehehe

  65. rose - October 19, 2007 11:32 pm

A reason to have martial law indeed…Dapat ang tulungan at protectahan ng US ay ang mga tao hindi si Gloria..Can US throw her out? Is there no Senator Solarz anymore? Whoever of the US presidential candidates who will push for the throwing out of GMA will not get a zero vote..you will have my vote..kahit na si Hillary Clinton..ayaw ko siya pero kung mapatalsik niya si GMA I will campaign for her to be president…warning ko lang though sa kanya..ingat ka lang kasi baka makuha si bill sa iyo..oops ang dumi ng mga isip ninyo ang ibig kung sabihin ang dollar bill..and this is no threat but a promise.
Chi: from Virginia ka, hindi ba? May nagsabi dito na malaki ang mansion (at ranch?) ni Ronnie Puno, diyan banda ninyo..baka diyan magtago si GMA..kasi hindi siya puede sa California..it will not be a VicTohRee for her.

  66. Totie - October 19, 2007 11:33 pm

Calculated Collateral Damage – quite expensive. Looking from as many angle as we can:

Gloria Incorporated – justify the much needed power necessary to stop the avalance like downslide of Gloria’s last days. Parang drugs direct injection

Muslims – why not? the nation is so divided with the successive grafts and corruptions cases. One after the other. This is the perfect time to get a piece of the action.

Prostituted Military – why not? their days are also numbered and when that time comes, sa kangkungan sila pupulutin. So logical thing to do? unahan na nila ang mga galit na idealist members ng AFP so they can at least buy time.

Idealist Military – Why not? Sobra na, military knows and deals with Collateral Damages. We can never tell. After all who cares, the nation remains with the tight grip of the Military (retired as well as retarded)

Kano – Why not? Observe how quiet in Mindanao? Where are their concentration focused now? Di ba sa Mindanao. Why? What is in Mindanao that is so important to the US? What? If the attention is shifted to Manila, whatever happen in Mindanao will not even get into entertainment page of the media.

  67. ipaglaban_mo - October 19, 2007 11:43 pm

I second that pinoynrs. Send gloria to Gitmo(guantanamo bay). She’s like a terrorist embedded by the pasig river.
I try my best to be open-minded about who did it, but, I always end up with Gloria… It can’t possibly be the anti-arroyo group, we’ve got the momentum already, so why waste it on such a cowardly act? Nakakaduda talaga ang timing eh! Tuloy pa rin ang laban.

  68. vonjovi2 - October 19, 2007 11:46 pm

    .
    Eto ang signature style niya.

    1) “Please Impeach Me” hindi umubra sa taong bayan buko huli.
    2) “Please Invistigate Me” lalong pumalpak siya.

  69. shivaRN - October 19, 2007 11:46 pm

Words cannot express the sorrow I felt for the victims who have been shattered by this horrible act of violence. I pray for the people who have lost their lives and the families who lost their loved ones in this terrible senseless act of violence. I pray that justice will be served!!!

  70. luzviminda - October 19, 2007 11:51 pm

Terrorist-a radical who employs terror as a political weapon; usually organizes with other terrorists in small cells; often uses religion as a cover for terrorist activities

Sounds like Gloria to me? Feel free to expand…

Hindi mo maluluko ang mga tao all the time!

When I heard about this sad news from TV Patrol, only one person came to my mind…very possible na Utak na naman niya ito…! Damn you, Impakta!

  75. Totie - October 20, 2007 12:13 am

Let us all keep our EYES WIDE OPEN, look for the big picture. huwag tayong maging nearsighted dahil yan mismo ang objective ng ssino mang gumawa nito. Let us cover from North to South, East to West. Bantayan ang Mindanao.

For all we know, this may be the much awaited DRESS REHEARSAL.

  76. Diego K. Guerrero - October 20, 2007 12:24 am

Here they go again. GMA signature has something to do with ‘impeach me’, ‘investigate me’ and now ‘bomb me’. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out what’s happening in our country today. Maybe by coincidence Glorietta mall was the target. Glorietta is a derivative of Gloria. The sinister plan is to portray her as the victim. She exploited the bombing incident by all means to gain public sympathy. In the headlines-Gloria Arroyo visits Makati bombing victims. Crocodile tears are flowing in front of digital world audience. GMA cannot stand the political heat and so she needs a quick diversion.

Everything is possible under corrupt Arroyo regime. Innocent lives have been sacrificed for political gain. Gloria Arroyo and her cohorts are the usual suspects. Plastic bomb or C-4 explosives type are military arsenal. Operation Greenbase part II??? Justice for the victims!

  77. Chabeli - October 20, 2007 12:37 am

Sampot, hindi naman all the Elite “..more than benefited from this bogus regime..” Seguro the Razons, Concepcions, Aboitizes, Viratas, & a few others lang are die-hard Gloria beneficiaries “And they are always ready to extend any assistance to their puppet.” Look at how Razon helped Gloria in the ZTE thingy. Believe me, there are many in the Elite who dream of the day she is ousted.

If I may say also, I do not believe that the Ayalas are behind her. Vicky Gachitorena-who works with the Ayalas, used to be with Gloria’s government, but has since resigned some time back.

  78. The Equalizer - October 20, 2007 12:53 am

The Zobels are decent people.Very different from the other “elites”

  79. shivaRN - October 20, 2007 12:56 am

DKG, is it true that Plastic bomb or C-4 explosives type are military arsenal? military lang po ba ang gumagawa nito or pwede ring aby sayyaf or JI?

  80. pechanco - October 20, 2007 1:05 am

Kahit na mapatunayan na explosives at gamit ng AFP ang bomba, it’s easy for Malacanang to blame it on the disgruntled rebel soldiers out to overthrow the government.

Yep, malacanang will dress another fake witness to point the fingers at the reble soldiers. Same script.

  82. Diego K. Guerrero - October 20, 2007 1:20 am

Yes, C-4 explosives type is military arsenal. C-4 explosives should be tightly controlled due to part of AFP military arsenal.

  83. Ellen - October 20, 2007 1:22 am

ShivaRN, yes C-4 is government issued. But I won’t be surprised if official will again say, it was pilfered from the government arsenal.

If they can use that line with carplates (remember Jonas Burgos), why not with bombs?

  84. The Equalizer - October 20, 2007 1:29 am

It’s all about motives! Who stand to gain the most from this dastardly act?

    Reflect

    Discern

  85. Ellen - October 20, 2007 1:33 am

Statement of the Trillanes Paglingkurin Movement:

The Trillanes Paglingkurin Movement condemns in the strongest terms teh Glorietta bombing resulting in death and injuries of innocent civilians.

These dastardly acts of terror can only be masterminded by fascist security officials of the Arroyo administration headed by two cabinet members and the chief of staff of the AFP who masterminded, among others, the Oplan Green Base exposed at Oakwood, the ongoing Basilan war,and countless extra-judicial killings.

This was done to divert the people’s attention from the avalanche of scandals confronting the illegitimate, oppressive, and corrupt GMA administration and stifle further the democratic rights of the Filipino people.

These heinous crimes will continue for as long as the criminal gang of the GMA administration stays in Malacañang.

We demand swift justice to all perpetrators of this senseless and dastardly acts!

if thats so, ganyan na ba talaga kaitim na sagad sagad sa buto ang kasamaan mo GLORIA? killing innocent people just like that? I didn’t think that she could stoop so low!!!! shame on you……

  88. kejotee - October 20, 2007 1:44 am

    chi Says:
Sacrifice the innoncent civilians. Gloria is soooo used to it by now!
    ……

So very sad, but innocent civilians are worth only mosquitoes to Gloria in he lust for power. It is very obvious that the Pretender is orchestrating this symphony of chaos. Nobody else benefits other than the ogre by the river.

you got that right,ipaglaban_mo. gloria and ermita and bunye will show and brag to the world that they have captured the bomber and then goes on further and claim that the real bombing target is malacanang. madali lang gawin to. suhol lang ang katapat.

shivaRN, in gloria and the pidals, anything is possible. bakit ka pa nagtataka kung ganito kaitim ang budhi nila? pechanco, pls don’t give secretary kumita and bungi, i mean ermita and bunye an idea on who is to blae on this cowardly act.

Yep, let an outside agency investigate and see where it leads them to… I always have doubts when they do their own research… Check straight through the AFP’s munitions inventory of each military camps. I don’t have any idea on how they account for their munitions. But me being in the US military, munitions is a controlled item, we reinventory everything and trace our steps when we found out we’re missing just a single bullet in our storage. What more when storing explosives…

    Patalsikin na, now na!

  104. dandaw - October 20, 2007 2:59 am

    Answer to chi,

Don’t put Gloria and Assperon in Guantanamo because the stupid ACLU will bail them out. With the money the stole from the Filipinos the ACLU will bite that. Also why let us U.S. tax-payers pay for their subsistence in Guantanamo?
Simply hang them up and slowly but surely let the Filipinos skin them piece by piece that way they have fun.

  105. hawaiianguy - October 20, 2007 3:22 am

This bombing of innocents is really sad. The one who profits from this heinous act is no doubt an evil, most likely a person who is callous to committing sins against humanity. The timing is questionable, it’s footprints lead to Malacanang’s doorsteps.

  106. jojovelas2005 - October 20, 2007 3:25 am

victim only got P10,000 for dead people pagsugatan ka P5,000…pag congressman ka you received 200,000 sa Governor 500,000.

This is unfair. People who died in 9/11 here in US grabe yun nakuha nila dahil fault yun ng US government. We are paying taxes to protect us also from terrorist attack imbes na kasi ilagay sa tamang intelligence funds pinamimigay.

  107. AdeBrux - October 20, 2007 3:31 am

The bombing at Glorietta certainly has gloria’s signature. Di ba gloria at glorietta, magkalapit o sometimes iisa?

  113. Valdemar - October 20, 2007 5:48 am

By the looks of it, the bombing was obviously scripted. Why would the president visit the hospital not even a kilometer away and there could be danger lurking. The safety of the president is paramount no matter what. The press op is really working at the expense of lives and alarm. What a scandal.

  114. TonGuE-tWisTeD - October 20, 2007 5:53 am

Except for two or three, almost unanimously this blog’s members have completed their analysis while those from others are still mourning. And based on our scorecards, we always reflect and represent here the true sentiments of the Filipino people.

I had also wanted to keep an open mind, but I cannot think of any other group that would have benefited the most from it except Gloriaetta herself and her minions.

No single person in the country today has innards built the way Gloria’s are. What’s another 8 dead Pinoys today when we average 140 a year? The year’s almost over and we’ve not even hit a hundred? Has she lost her touch?

Ellen posted it, that part of Gloria’s message, and the link to the full message, too, which I repeat here:

“I warn those who seek to destabilize our government not to exploit this incident for their selfish political motives.”

Read between the lines. The message was explicit against her opponents in politics but was silent against the perpetrators of this dastardly act. READ AGAIN! This time follow the link for the full speech. Did she ever condemn the supposed bombers? But she did warn her political enemies, didn’t she?

The subconscious mind gave her away again. She cannot denounce the bombers because they belong to her cabal.

    Tongue in, anew!

  115. cocoy - October 20, 2007 6:19 am

Gloria’s only hope to stay in power is Martial Law.

  118. chi - October 20, 2007 6:48 am

    dandaw,

I agree, Tongue. Very obvious, Gloria’s subconcious is the one talking.

  121. ystakei - October 20, 2007 7:51 am

Stupid talaga itong mga tauhan ni Unano to be blaming the Opposition for this carnage.

I believe the soldiers now in incarceration. In fact, iyan ang narinig kong sinabi ni Col. Querubin noon when he and his fellow valiant soldiers refused to be used to kill innocent civilians just so the creep can stay in power.

Sa totoo lang dapat may nanagot ng sinasabi nila ngayong pilferage of military supplies allegedly used for this kind of carnage.

Shame on my cousin for instance who headed the camp where theft and robbery was committed twice or more at the house of an incarcerated military officer Aquino! Sabi nga, you can choose your friends but not your kin!!!

    Patalsikin na, now na!

This time follow the link for the full speech. Did she ever condemn the supposed bombers? But she did warn her political enemies, didn’t she?”

The psychology there is simply so that she can have someone to blame for what her own men have done. Utak criminal talaga! Pero ang pagbintangan ang mga Opposition, huling-huli silang nagsisinungaling, especially when the bomb used is an official military supply.

Let me rephrased what I wrote earlier.

Kung sinabi pang NPA o Abus ang gumawa ng carnage na ito, baka maniwala pa ako, except that the two organizations apparently do not have that much anymore to procure such expensive bombs except when they have received money from Malacanang complete with the bomb to detonate at that mall in Makati and try to link it with the protest started at Makati the other day. Wow, mga kamote talaga!!!

“MANILA, Philippines–Military explosives may have been used in a huge bomb blast at a shopping mall in the Makati financial district that left nine dead and 113 injured, police said Saturday.

Evidence collected from the Glorietta mall blast site indicates that the bomb “contained RDX, the main chemical component of C4,” the police said in a report to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

In the Philippines, C4 explosive is only used by the military.INQUIRER”

  136. cocoy - October 20, 2007 12:27 pm

    The Equalizer;

C4 is pretty well used only by the military. It’s a military plastic explosive based on an explosive ingredient called RDX, to which a polyisobutene plasticiser is added.C4 is hard to buy, it’s very hard to get hold of if you are not a government, or a user with the correct government certificate. it’s something that’s used but mainly it’s a military explosive.

If the bombing is done by none military, We would suspect that it’s been stolen from a military force. That’s the easiest way to get it, via a friendly soldier who sell it with the right amount. My question, who has the most benefit of it in this bombing? My guess is not Bin Laden,my guess is the phone pal of Garci and Ben.

I can agree with you wholeheartedly. But why is it that those “Good Elites” are not doing anything but prefer to stay in the comfort of “playing safe”?

I also would like to throw this same question to the majority of our OFWs.

Last year alone, $20Billion dollars were contributed by the OFWs to our own economy – that is a whopping Php 1,000,000,000.00 at P50 per dollar exchange rate.

One Trillion is 80% of the 2007 National Budget.

Combine that with the Total Income Tax prededucted from every non-OFW employee, wow, that’s more than enough to buy their own President!

The point is clear: the OFWs and your Good Elite can change the destiny of this country whenever they wishes to.

    But…. will they?

  152. Chabeli - October 20, 2007 5:20 pm

According to the National Security Adviser, Norberto Gonzalez, the bomb blast in Glorietta 2 “could be a show of force and capability by a local terror cell.” (abs-cbnnews.com).

If we were to take this man’s statement seriously, wouldn’t the likes of terrorist cells like the Abu Sayyaf, Jemaah Islamiya, MILF, or other Al Qaeda-connected groups, be rushing to grab the limelight-as they seem to love to do after they succeed in an attack ?

It’s been over 24 hours since the bomb blast, & we have not heard from any terrorist groups claiming victory to prove to the public that they are formidable force. The only one mentioning, or alluding to, terrorists is Norberto Gonzalez. Which, to my mind, is suspicious. I know it is his job to open his mouth & say something, but his opinion on the matter is too shallow. Anyone could have said that for the sake of saying something. The Abu Sayyaf has said (abs-cbnnews.com) that “..the group has no involvement in the bomb blast..” & that “the Abu Sayyaf has not fielded any operative in Metro Manila.”

Which leaves analysts, for now, to deduce that the Glorietta 2 bomb blast was an “inside” job. It could have been the handiwork of the right-leaning military men (who would also have access to a C-4 bomb) who want to remove Gloria from Malacanang at all cost. The bomb was a warning to her. This could explain why Gloria cancelled her trip to Ormoc & Tacloban today. What I also gathered last night, was that some generals were called to Malacanan while they were attending a party for an ex-General. After the meeting in the Palace, the Generals went back to the party. They all looked nervous.

However, one may ask, “why such a ruthess act, like a bomb blast, at the expense of people’s lives ?” We must remember that the enemy (Gloria) IS ruthless.

  153. Phil Cruz - October 20, 2007 5:27 pm

Yes, The Woman did not appear to condemn the bombers. But warned her usual destablizers (opposition and rebel soldiers, I suppose)not to exploit the situation. And segued right into announcing that she would send out 2,000 policemen throughout the metro area.

Showing her fangs. The better to control the gathering storm around her from all quarters. Panic mode. She senses something is afoot.

Profile of the Mastermind of the Ayala Mall Bombing

A completely ruthless person who is willing to do ANYTHING in pursuit of his or her objectives. It does not matter to this person what the costs are, even the “human” costs.

This person must be desperate. He or she decided to strike at the very heart of the business district to make a point. He or she is sending a very clear warning to all :“The worst is yet to come”.

This person means business. The stakes are too high now. No more turning back .Every day matters. His or her “clock” is ticking away very fast…

The more desperate he or she becomes, the more desperate will be his or her NEXT moves. It is his or her downward spiral to the abyss of desperation.

Is he or she afraid of retribution from men? Nope. He or she thinks that
there is always an exception to the rule that “no one is above the law”.

Worried about Divine retribution? Nope. That person must think that God is always on his or her side. No different from those ruthless suicide bombers in the Middle East.

God save our country from this person.

Contrary to popular beliefs, the Central Bank is not OUR bank, but essentially owned by private bankers and governed by their own set of laws.

So if these private bankers can do it, why can’t the OFWs?… With or without the help of Congress… i mean, when was the last time these Crocodiles ever thought of helping that which does not concerns them?

    I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists
    I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews
    I remained silent;
    I wasn’t a Jew.

    When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

…it is contrary to the nature of goodness to just stay neutral or not do something about evil.

Like i’ve been saying all along:

In order to eliminate Evil in our Society, Good Men must become Evil themselves, even for a day. After which, they can always return to being good.

What is noble in being good, when Evil is tolerated?

Being Good in oneself, but tolerating Evil at the same time, is the highest form of Hypocrisy.

These are the people who love to sit in front of the Eucharist.

    The Equalizer,

The ‘enlightened Catholics’ here are true to the Church. Ang binibira dito ay iyong mga questionable leaders such as Gaudencio Rosales, Socrates Villegas atbp. na nakakainis.

Of course, I/we love Archbishop Oscar Cruz, Archbishop Emeritus Julio Labayen, Bishops Antonio Tobias of Novaliches and Deogracias Iñiguez of Caloocan City.

THIRTY THREE HOURS after the carnage in Glorietta, and no suspects, the bomb isn’t even definite. That’s bull.

Sino ba hinahanap nila sa security videos?

Madali lang iyan. Mga lalaking nakabarong, may dalang brown paper bags!

  175. Sampot - October 20, 2007 10:47 pm

    Equalizer,

Huwag kang mag-alala.

  176. pechanco - October 20, 2007 10:53 pm

As you may know by now and as expected, the AFP is blaming it on terrorists. Terrorism doesn’t have to be the enemies. A terrorist can also be among them (AFP and Malacanang).

Where’s Makati Mayor Binay? Is he abroad? How come we don’t hear a word from him? Usually, he’s immediately at the crime scene anywhere in Makati and is now already very visible in the media. Strange…

  177. TonGuE-tWisTeD - October 20, 2007 11:09 pm

    Nasa Japan pa si Binay.

  178. Chabeli - October 20, 2007 11:13 pm

    Sampot & Chi:

The answer to the question, “..why is it that those “Good Elites” are not doing anything..?” is because there is no viable alternative, much less a viable plan.

These “Good Elites” who have been EX supporters of Gloria know that they have made a mistake in EDSA 2. Although it looks that way, it is not that they are, as Sampot says, prefering “stay in the comfort of “playing safe”. They are being very careful this time. The EDSA 2 boo-boo was too costly, as we can all see today. Gloria turned out to be one, big mistake.

  179. chi - October 20, 2007 11:29 pm

    Chabs,

Tell them to join us na! They won’t make the same mistake if they join Ellen and us here at Ellenville, we all know that.

  180. pechanco - October 20, 2007 11:32 pm

So, Binay is in Japan. I suggest that he returns ASAP. Even from Japan, he could always issue a statement to the media. His silence may invite suspicion from other groups. I’m not saying Binay is a suspect. But since the incident happened in his city of Makati; tapos wala pa siya nang nangyari, dapat bumalik siya agad sa Pinas.

  181. AdeBrux - October 20, 2007 11:34 pm

    Pechanco,

Agree! “So, Binay is in Japan. I suggest that he returns ASAP.”

  182. chi - October 20, 2007 11:35 pm

    Tongue,

  183. pechanco - October 20, 2007 11:44 pm

Thanks AdeBrux. Kakampi natin si Binay…there’s no doubt about that. He must show he cares about the bombing and death of many people right in his city of Makati. Questions: 1. Why did it happen in Makati? 2. Binay is a reserved Marine officers so may connection iyan sa AFP at intelligence. 3. Avid opposition leader siya.

  184. Sampot - October 21, 2007 12:08 am

    Chabs,

    Your argument is well taken.

    Chi,

I can feel that you always blog with a heart like when you said…

Tell them to join us na! They won’t make the same mistake if they join Ellen and us here at Ellenville, we all know that.

  185. atty36252 - October 21, 2007 12:11 am

Rajah Sulayman Movement daw ang gumawa.

They staged the Rizal Day bombing in 2000, and the Valentine’s day bombing in 2004.

How fortuitously close to milestones in the Hobbit’s political career; Rizal Day 2000, before the fake EDSA II, and Valentine’s day 2004, very close to the elections. Parang Dubya and the sudden appearance of Osama’s video after the Kenkoy got drubbed in the televised debate with John Kerry.

Now, when impeachment is looming, nabuhay nang muli ang nag-hi-hibernate na RSM. How convenient.

Like The Equalizer said, it is all about timing.

  186. Chabeli - October 21, 2007 12:25 am

Chi, you said, “Tell them to join us na! They won’t make the same mistake if they join Ellen and us here at Ellenville, we all know that.” What is important now is that they have taken a stand – away from Gloria.

    Sampot, thank you.

  187. chi - October 21, 2007 12:25 am

    Sampot,

It’s because I truly believe in Ellen/Ellenville’s fight for “Truth and Justice”. And I believe in all of you here that share precious time to blog for the same cause.

  188. TonGuE-tWisTeD - October 21, 2007 12:32 am

    pechanco,
It appears you haven’t been listening to the radio. Binay has been interviewed several times. So was Junjun. They are even offering a Million-peso reward for the capture of the perpetrators and what do you know? The PNP is giving P2 Million! Saan ngayon pupunta yung (kawawang?) witness?

    *********************

    chi,

Pero teka, di ba 1 out of 4 generals ngayon e puro Panggalatok yata?

    Itanong mo pa kay Esperon!

  189. chi - October 21, 2007 12:44 am

    Chabs,

Basta sinabi mo, naniniwala ako. :)

  190. Chabeli - October 21, 2007 12:47 am

Chi, how sweet you are. Thanks for your trust. I have learned that that is a rare commodity these days. Mabuhay ang Ellensville !

  191. chi - October 21, 2007 1:07 am

    Tongue,

Police investigators identified the 10 casualties as:

    1. Jose Allan De Jesus
    2. Liza Marquez
    3. Lester Peregrina
    4. Janine Marcos
    5. Anthony Marius Arroyo
    6. Maria Celeste Cruz
    7. Jee Ann De Gracia
    8. Cesar Nino Vidano
    9. Rainier Tan
    10. Maureen de Leon

—–Is the above name Anthony Arroyo (No.5) related to GMA’s or Joker’s family?

  193. pechanco - October 21, 2007 1:42 am

Another thing that many might not have noticed…why did the FBI immediately arrive to investigate the bombing. Bear in mind that the CIA can do the impossible things to change or replace a foreign leader or government. Never ignore this US-CIA factor.

  194. we-will-never-learn - October 21, 2007 2:31 am

    pechanco:
The FBI didn’t have to ‘immediately arrive’, they’re already here watching every move we make – smile.

  195. we-will-never-learn - October 21, 2007 2:38 am

Its reported that the C-4 contained 80 bars which would weigh 100lbs. Now please tell me how that got past the Mall’s securitymen unless carried by some ‘Law Enforcer’, either AFP or PNP.

  196. pechanco - October 21, 2007 3:41 am

Tama ka. Because as soon as after the bombing, it was reported that FBI agents were around to help investigate. Hindi ba nakakapagtaka ito? The US and other countries in the West still have to issue statement condemning the bombing. Pero parang wala tayong narinig.

  197. AdeBrux - October 21, 2007 4:53 am

Perhaps because the blast was small in comparisson to the blast that claimed more than 100 victims in Pakistan.

The Makati blast is not even in the news in Europe but the Pakistani blast is all over and is headline news. (Maybe because Gloria is suspect?)

  198. pechanco - October 21, 2007 4:56 am

Next time it’s Malacanang blast, I’m sure the foreign media will publish it. I call on that group that claimed responsibility to bomb Malacanang and LTA Building (Mike Arroyo’s office). I’m posing this challenge to them.

    10/21/07

There is no mention in the U.S. about the blast in Makati. Why don’t we blast all the major network with blogs all the bad things going on in the Philippines caused by Gloria. Media like Foxnews, ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, NPR radio, And also in Europe. In other words wake them up.

  204. josephs - October 21, 2007 5:31 pm

I absolutely agree that Arroyo did this horrific bombing. She follows in the footsteps of George W. Bush who blew up buildings on 9/11. Watch the movie on http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com and youtube the embarrassing “Jane Standley wtc7.” Wow, just as I was obsessing on the contents of this Zeitgeist movie, it is also happening in the Philippines. There are so many evil people in this world just to get power and money.

A quote sited from the movie:
When the power of love overcomes
the love of power, the world will
    know peace.
    -Jimi Hendrix

  205. ystakei - October 21, 2007 5:47 pm

Mas dumami nga ang bentahan after 1986 as a matter of fact. A lot of the guns that were smuggled to Japan by Filipino and sold to Yakuzas were from military people who actually connived with Customs officials, et al.

When I worked as a tour escort for a Japanese travel agency, and we would take tourists to the Philippines, I witnessed in fact some military people offering them guns for sale during a shooting tour at some military camp. I got into a heated argument with an officer in fact when I stopped a Japanese from getting lured into buying one that the officer said they would pack well enough not to be caught at the Japanese Customs. Ang tindi ng corruption especially now, I guess.

Over in Japan, no one is excused from the very strict gun control, not even the police as a matter of fact. When they are off duty, police cannot bring home their guns. The same holds true to the military especially when lawyers here consider it illegal if soldiers will point their guns to their fellow Japanese even in times of war much more in times of peace regardless of whether or not Japan has a big war arsenal.

    Patalsikin na, now na!

  206. ystakei - October 21, 2007 6:00 pm

We must stop depending on others for things that we should do ourselves.

Sinabi mo pa, Anna, especially at this time when the US has its own economy to worry about, and even when the crooks have timed this bombing with the coming of those Americans for their military exercises in the Philippines with Filipino rebels allegedly used as targets for their exercises!!!

Time for Filipinos to show that they can stand on their own two feet, gutom or no gutom!!!

    Patalsikin na, now na!!!

  207. broadbandido - October 21, 2007 7:45 pm

The timing is suspect. To happen on a Friday so that the stocks and the peso rate will not be affected since it is the last day of trading. Makes you wonder.

  208. The Equalizer - October 21, 2007 9:04 pm

To be very honest,I am arriving at the point of view that the bombing of the ayala mall was a very desperate act by a cabal with military connections for the purpose of diverting public attention away from “cash gift”bribery scandal.

The cabal has now moved from the “spins/cover-up”stage to the “martial law”preps.Very dangerous stage.

The other theories just don’t hold water:

1)extortion:easier to do that in isolated cell sites of the ayalas’globe network.

2)asg:plain hoax, the story is a creation of norberto gonzales

3)the abus:they are holed up in the mountains of Basilan under severe attack of our marines.

4)the leftists/rightists:why destroy the momentum of the
public outcry against the bribery scandals?

  209. chi - October 21, 2007 9:18 pm

    The Equalizer,

Ordered to do so by the Kwin Korap. Later, Asspweron will produce a fake bomber (again)!

  210. The Equalizer - October 21, 2007 9:27 pm

It is extremely difficult to remain neutral at a time like this.

What the “move on,catch us if you can” crowd want us to do is follow the infamous advice of Raul Manglapus.

Sabi nga ni Raul Manglapus sa mga kababayan nating pinay noon sa Kuwait during Iraq’s first attack, “If rape is inevitable, just lie down and enjoy it”.

I don’t want this country to be raped by the Pidals, Ronnie Puno , Mr.Esperon and company !!!

    Ana,

The Filipinos are not irresposible but their government are. How long did it take us to dethrone Marcos? We are partly responsible for tracing their Ill Gotten Wealth. Believe me it did not happen if not for the U.S.news Media. “The San Jose Mercury News”. San Jose Mercury News got the Novel Prize for their exposee on the “Ill Gotten Wealth of Marcos” Of course Gloria and her cronies might use a different strategy. We should use all angles in the equation to be successful in this endeavour. Agree?

  217. AdeBrux - October 22, 2007 9:58 am

Dandaw, agree if there is an international angle to the blast. But as is, seems, the whole thing is purely locally motivated.

Also, depends on what exactly the purpose is…

RP press are doing their job, aren’t they?

  218. rhy_me1975 - October 22, 2007 10:09 am

why is that everytime arroyo is under attack something happens? then martial law issue will come out saying this will be her last chance to stay in power. hay…its not impossible if arroyos men did this. if you have friends in the military specially in mindanao they will tell you that they are the ones doing the bombing to get more funds. kasi sa dami ng funds ng military dapat well equiped na sila..pero hindi, hindi pa nga pumuputok minsan yung armas nila hehehe

    TRILLANES SAYS:
It very looks like a repeat of Oplan Greenbase, perpetrated by the administration in 2003 in Mindanao, where a series of bombings rocked the island, killing innocent people and destroying property. Those bombings remain unexplained to this day.
    Iman Says:
