“Let me prove my accusation in a Senate probe”—Trillanes

Insisting that he knows certain information that would point to National Security adviser Norberto Gonzales and AFP chief of staff Hermogenes Esperon as possible authors of the Glorietta 2 blast, and brushing aside criticisms of his accusation as being irresponsible and without basis, opposition senator Antonio F. Trillanes IV today said he will prove his accusations in a Senate investigation.

He filed today a resolution calling for such a probe.

The resolution, P. S. No. 174, recalled only the incident of October 19, when a powerful explosion ripped through three floors of the Glorietta 2 shopping complex resulting to the death of 11 people and injury to scores of other mall goers.

“There have been serious insider information reaching this representation that both Secretary Norberto Gonzales and Gen. Hermogenes Esperon masterminded the said bombing,” Trillanes said in his resolution.

He cited as basis in calling for such a probe Sec. 4 Article II of the Constitution, which states that the “The prime duty of the Government is to serve and protect the people.”

In calling for a Senate inquiry into the bombing, Trillanes said he appeals to the appropriate Senate committees, particularly the committee on public order and illegal drugs, to schedule a public hearing as soon as possible because the Filipino people deserve to know the truth.

“I intend to present witnesses who will point to the true masterminds of this dastardly crime,” Trillanes added.

The senator from Caloocan earlier called for the creation of an impartial, independent, and credible body to conduct an investigation of the incident, and refused to divulge to the CIDG anything that might compromise the sources of his information.

  1. Where are those who doubted the sanity of this man?

  2. Jon M Jon M

Trillanes should be allowed to show his proof. The accusations are quite serious to be disregarded. If his proofs are non-proofs, then he should be chastised.

  3. duren duren

Yes, I would agree for him to be given a chance to prove his allegations. I will reserve my judgment until then.

  4. broadbandido broadbandido

I doubt if Asspweron will let him testify in court.

    Ellen,
This fellow Norberto is quite intriguing. He doesn’t look it but he always seems to like playing cloak and dagger stuff. Always seems to see a communist, a rebel, a destabilizer and a terrorist behind every bush that moves.

He swaggers when in the company of the military but seeks refuge behind a banana when he attends a Senate hearing.

What is his background? Why was he selected to be National Security Adviser? Who were his political mentors? Was he ever an elected official?

  6. Phil Cruz Phil Cruz

Gloria’s problems never end, does it?

Assuming it was her and her gang who perpetrated the Glorietta blast in order to divert attention from her bribery scandals…well, it still didn’t work… because here again is another cause for another investigation. Trillanes is about to detonate his own bomb…right up the asses of the cloak and dagger twins Assperon and Norberto.

“The prime duty of the Government is to serve and protect the people.”

Sen.Trillanes, We are the people the fourth branch of the government. Our constitution provides for as many protections as possible to ensure that the government is subservient to the people and only exists for the purpose of serving the people. However, should these protections fail it is up to the people to rise up against the government and to put the government back in it’s place. In this capacity, the People act as the fourth branch of government to take control and to override their decisions that violate the Fundamental Rights of the People to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

We the people need risen up against the government in order to reestablish the supremacy of the Will of the People over the interests of the government and we keep on supporting you on your crusade to expose the mastermind behind the Glorieta bombing.

  8. Phil Cruz Phil Cruz

But Trillanes should not have divulged the fact that he has witnesses. The twins will scour the planet to find them before they could ever attend a Senate hearing. Or failng to do so, employ the usual scheme.. “destroy the credibility of the witnesses” with outlandish cooked-up brew of fairy tales. Norberto is pretty good at spinning. Better than Bunye who looks like a goggle-eyed robot when he spins.

  9. ipaglaban_mo ipaglaban_mo

Sen. Trillanes. we’ll back you up if we have to against the evil forces of Gloria. Right now, you’ll be Frodo since you’re the keeper of the golden ring of “truth”. Gee, I feel like we’re in the Lord of the Rings movie. 🙂 Same ending as well, we will be victorious!

However,I agree with broadbandido, can he attend the Senate inquiry without the permission of Esperon? He need the people.

    Gumising na kayo bayan.

  11. Chabeli Chabeli

I don’t think that Senator Trillanes would have opened his mouth for the sake of opening his mouth. I would like to believe that he knows what he is talking about. I, too, like Jon M, am for allowing Senator “Trillanes..to show his proof. The accusations are quite serious to be disregarded.”

  12. conqueror46 conqueror46

  13. Phil,

“But Trillanes should not have divulged the fact that he has witnesses. The twins will scour the planet to find them before they could ever attend a Senate hearing.”

Right! And will kidnap them… difficult for Trillanes to protect his witnesses.

  14. Trillanes has been elected by 11 million people – I believe in any democracy, these votes should be counted as an authorization for Trillanes to represent and become voice of the people. In that sense, he should be allowed to prove his claim because Filipinos or at least those who voted for him would want him to do that.

I doubt however that Malacanang would allow him to do it. Trillanes is a walking bomb himself and Gloria and Esperon are shit scared of him.

  15. luzviminda luzviminda

  16. chi chi

Lacson knows for sure that Trillanes has proofs. He earlier said that “meron siyang evidences na wala tayo”.

  17. For the sake of truth and justice, they should allow Senator Trillanes to conduct this probe in the Senate. Esperon has no right to deprive Filipinos that to save his ass.

In fact, it’s about time that they call back this Gonzales to the witness stand. Hopefully, next time he tries to feign illness, matutuluyan na siya! At least, there will be one less evil!!!

Meanwhile, the Fatso should not be given any special privileges. Over here, kung nasa ospital ang witness/suspect at wala naman sa ICU, nakiki-cooperate ang hospital, and the witness/suspect can be interrogated, investigated or interviewed for the sake of justice and truth.

Sabi nga, no one should be above the law. Kahit may sakit kung hindi naman near-death, puede pa rin ma-interview as required by law. Hindi puede iyong katwiran lalo na ng isang civilian trying to control the government, warp and corrupt everyone in the government.

  18. Come to think of it, baka iyong sinasabing witnesses ay si Esperon at Gonzales din. Kaya papaano silang magiging delikado. Papatayin nila ang mga sarili nila? Masaya sila! O mga taumbayan?

  19. chi chi

Serious as it is, if Gloria, Ass and Mongoloid G will disregard Trillanes accusations..it would only mean that ‘totoo nga’

  20. chi chi

Good point, Yuko.

  21. chi chi

    Anna,

“Trillanes is a walking bomb himself and Gloria and Esperon are shit scared of him.”

Yeah, the only reason why they won’t release him from prison.

  22. TurningPoint TurningPoint

Trillanes prove his allegations by letting him out of the jail. Even Sen. Lacson, in one of the interviews, confided that with the network of Sen. Trillanes, he certainly has certain information that even like him don’t have. But like most of us here, we doubt if he not be given that privilege. Takot lang nila na mabuking ang katotohanan.

Somebody is asking the background of Norberto Gonzales. I recall during the time he was detained in the Senate for contempt, it was reported isa pala siyang dentist, dentista, taga bunot ng ngipin. I don’t know if that’s true. But being the National Security Adviser, he should have the necessary intelligence network to thwart the Glorietta bombing. It’s supposed to be under his turf. Lapse of intelligence? Or nothing at all?

  23. TurningPoint TurningPoint

Correction: we doubt if he will be given that privilege.

  24. broadbandido broadbandido

If the Fat Man cannot go to to the Senate, there is no reason why the senate should not go to him. This is always done in deposition of cases where the witness is sick and cannot attend the hearings. They just videotape the deposition and this is then played in court as part of a witness’s testimony.

  25. broadbandido broadbandido

Kung nakapag-biyahe nga sa kung ilang bansa to oversee the transfer of their ill-gotten wealth, bakit di maka-attend sa hearing? may itinatago?

  26. duren duren

I would rather not presume.

An arroyo (literally creek in Spanish), also called a wash or draw, is a usually dry creek bed or gulch that temporarily fills with water after a heavy rain, or seasonally.[1] As such, the term is similar to the word wadi. Arroyos can be natural or man-made. The term usually applies to a mountainous desert environment.

  39. Totie Totie

    Good Morning!
If Sonny’s allegation confirms, that will manifest the real state of the AFP. This now becomes Gloria’s own “Marcos’ Snap Election”. The more Sonny yell and scream, the more he will attract the attention both domestic and abroad. Considering that the general perspective was that, ERAP left the building as a result of his Pardon issue, the only remaining image of real opposition is the good senator from Caloocan.

What is missing in the overall mix of the oust Gloria and company is the single rallying figure or force. Is Sonny becoming our “True North”. The more the government maintain their hard nose treatment of Trillanes, the more he will attain the level of a fighter and martyr.

“Only the President can disburse these funds, especially inside Malacañang. It’s unthinkable for the President of the Republic not to know what’s happening inside the Palace especially if it involves giving out P500,000 to governors and congressmen,” he said, adding that it is far worse if she knows about it. “So both ways,it looks bad for her. If this candidate is endorsed by Erap, he has a very good chance of winning. So after Erap’s release, expect those who have ambitions to run for higher office to start wooing him. Sally Z. Perez that the money given to the two governors were from the funds of the League of Governors. Sally is the VP of the association.. to help kuno new governors for their projects. Where do they get their funds to be able to give so much? do they have membership fees? if the money is paid to this association by each governor of a province..I doubt it came from their salary-it is not personal money..galing rin sa gobierno..governors are under the Executive Branch, hindi ba? Di galing din kay Gloria.
I am not surprised that she would help Gloria kahit sabihin pa niyang personal ang tulong niya. Sally’s father was Diosdado Macapagal’s Executive Secretary..bigtime si Tio Itin (Calixto) during Dadong’s era. What amazed me though it took them more than a week to come up with their statement..sana sinabi na nila sa umpisa..Mr. Governors..we welcome you to our League..here’s money (from our personal funds) to start your projects..simple hindi ba?

  68. Rose,

Exactly my thought! Something fishy is really going on. I don’t believe the League of Govs spokesman or whatever.

What took them so long? I mean come on, Fr Panlilio’s exposé made banner news every where. If what they were saying is true, why didn’t they call a press conference to explain!

Nope, not credible. I mean, they must think people are really idiots to believe them almost 10 days after the cash bag news hit the press!

Nah, much as I would like to believe them — just doesn’t wash. I’d tell Perez, try again next time lass!

  69. I mean, “If what they were saying is true, why didn’t they call a press conference to explain THE FOLLOWING DAY without fail!” It’s not as if the press is hard to get hold of to mount a press conference in haste.

My belief is that these 2 idiots in the League of governors are covering up for someone big time.

Sometimes, I’m prepare to accept I’m an idiot but not in this case and I believe many Filipinos think there is a cover up.

Both! I can’t seem to see him as an adviser though..negotiator pa seguro..Seguro ang advice niya kay Goria..”pardon him..if God can forgive why can’t you?” ok yon kaya lang baka sabihin ni Goria..God talked to her thus she gave (or gives) Erap pardon. And then ang sabi naman niya kay Erap..(negotiate not advice) tanggapin mo na para masagana tayong tatlo.. gory days lie ahead…

Trillanes – We can discuss it after all nasa JC ka pala, I am here in Bergen County. So you saw Leslie’s play? She was good.

  81. pechanco pechanco

INK knows how to play its card. Pero talagang kay Erap sila. Si Bro. Eddie Villanueva ay hindi Catholic. Jesus is Lord Movement is a Protestant Charismatic Group pero ang tawag nila ngayon Christian group.

At the height of that rally, INK suddenly backed off. Why they withdrew…hindi ko alam. I was only told that there were government armored cars surrounding INK’s radio station DZEC. I heard two INK members were shot and killed in that tragic event. News black out at hindi na pinalaki pa. That’s as far as I know. This time siguro tinakot uli ni Manalo si GMA na lulusob ang mga Manalista kapag hindi ma-pardon si Erap. You should remember that it was INK who first called for Erap’s house arrest after his ouster. GMA promised and then didn’t fulfill her promise. That was one of the reasons why INK joined that Edsa Tres. This time, I don’t think Manalo would forgive her if she again breaks her promise to pardon Erap.

  83. pechanco pechanco

What’s disappointing is there are some groups that oppose Erap’s pardon. Other than this warlord crook Sabit Singson, the Makati Business Club and Black & White Movement oppose the
pardon.

Face the facts: it was just an accident. but people with axes to grind can always play the negligence angle on the Ayalas and flail and wail against the evil, evil capitalists who just refuse to pay revoutionary taxes to the NPA.

  99. DJBRIZALIST DJBRIZALIST

Trillanes is just like the Inquirer, claiming to have secret sources of information. Yet anonymity is just the last hiding place of scoundrels. he really needs to come out with it so skeptics like me can change their minds based on the facts and not innuendo. the “truth” is worthless until it can be seen as that, and not pure Beta Sigma, like the nuclear ebak that caused the explosion.

  100. Dean,

Are you insinuating that the Ayalas are victims of the NPA?

  101. DJBRIZALIST DJBRIZALIST

If Senator Trillanes cannot win the people’s trust and confidence with real facts and evidence, his movement will be reduced to one thing: Light a Fart Movement. Don’t you guyz see this? He is losing credibility by the minute, even with those who voted for him. He is squandering people’s faith in him like those folks in the Flat Earth Society. At least his nemesis Gen. Esperon turned down a cool million in bribe money at the Palace bribery fest, then later told the troops the truth: walang pera para sa kanilang combat pay. We must give credit where credit is due. Can you? Strange lang, Gen. Dolorfino contradicted him on AM radio last week after that. Of course Dolorfino is the “peace negotiator” who even paid ransom in Panamao a few months ago.

  103. DJBRIZALIST DJBRIZALIST

I’m sure it would break many hearts here to discover that General Esperon is just a soldier trying to do his job. No matter what else he may be guilty of, Esperon did turn down cash offers to him and other officers. Whereas Trillanes, after being given the benefit of the doubt by the people at election, thinks he’s been given license to say and do whatever erupts from his navel. He was elected Senator, not King of the Fairy Tale Tellers, which is what he is beginning to look like. Unless he comes up with credible evidence, why should he be allowed to bring down the rest of the Senate with him in a hail of rotten bananas and the people’s disdain? let him go to the media with his evidence. Or does he need an executive session to do it? Ah, but what’s left of that mechanism when the media claims they can spy on such sessions and divulge stuff just the way trillanes does, with anonymous sources? He’s already in jail, why doesn’t he just give convincing testimony, details and other facts that can be independently checked out. Just one fact or piece of evidence to prove his wild accusations. Just one! He doesn’t have to reveal any names. How did the people he accuses of doing Glorietta intentionally, do it in such a way that not even the FBI can find any physical evidence of their wrong doing?

Haber, kejotee, haber? Or are they and the Australians in cahoots with them too? People who voted for him want to know. If he doesn’t oblige them he will sink to the bottom of obloquy.

  104. kejotee kejotee

DJBRIZALIST , I don’t see you endorsing the move of Triallanes to form a commitee to investigate the bombing. Are scared you might fart?

  105. DJBRIZALIST DJBRIZALIST

He’s a senator. There are procedures for investigations in aid of legislation, not in aid of fatheads and rumor mongers. He has 22 other colleagues he needs to convince to do that, not me or you or anybody else. Or are we supposed to just throw out the law because you or he says so?

  106. DJBRIZALIST DJBRIZALIST

He is showing an utter faithlessness in the people, especially those who supported him. I for one respect the mandate he was given. but i am beginning to suspect that he himself doesn’t respect that mandate, does not conserve the power of the people given to him. Every vote he received is a particle of sovereign democracy, not a license to sow intrigue and hydrogen sulfide gas.

  111. DJBRIZALIST DJBRIZALIST

    kejotee,
Every blog is a pile of what you call “rhetoric”. It is neither court nor committee nor king. If you think it is anything more than that, you are sadly mistaken. But don’t underestimate the power of rhetoric, the force of ideas. Look, people who know me know I supported the good intentions of the magdalo, if not entirely their methods. I see the election of trillanes as the people giving them the benefit of that same doubt. But Trillanes is squandering the golden opportunity the people themselves have handed him to use the power of ideas and investigations by misappreciating HOW to turn such power into results. You and I and everyone else here can serve our country best by reminding him of this crucial point. We must support the Rule of Law, not destroy it. We must trust the power of people listening as much as people talking. Look at Among Ed! He holds the evidence in his hands and proclaims the truth with humility and hope that others will see it and silently or loudly support its revelation. It is not too late for Trillanes. I hope he will see that he is no longer a soldier or mutineer, but a senator of the real. Quit acting and thinking like a victim, and you will yet be a victor, not a villain.

  112. DJBRIZALIST DJBRIZALIST

    chi,
gloria is NOT the proper forum. The proper forum is the Senate. Granted he has a problem being detained. But it looks to me that his freedom of speech has not been curtailed. He should not however misuse of destroy it himself. He opened his mouth virtually as the news was coming out about Glorietta. It was he who spoke out in THAT forum. Now he claims it isn’t the proper forum. That is nuts and even people who aren’t gloria’s minions are disappointed at such infantilism and immoderation on his part. you guyz aren’t helping him one bit by egging him on to destroy his own reputation and trustworthiness. Besides, does anybody here have any idea what his evidence or counter theory is to the evidence based accident explanation? surely he has told someone. Or are we expected to believe him like some prophet of old? So far all he has said is Norbie and Hermie done it. That may be enough for some, but not for most. He owes it to the eleven million who voted for him, and to the rest who acquisced in his victory, to explain himself. You can’t blame them if pure accusation and innuendo is all he’s got to show them.

  113. DJBRIZALIST DJBRIZALIST

Trillanes may not be a fake. But right now, he is certainly foolish. I am so disappointed in him, his advisers and supporters. to be a senator is a huge honor, but only humility can rescue him from hubris. Grow up Sonny, feel the power in your hands but don’t let it go to your head, for just as quickly as you up rose, so too can you downright fall in the people’s esteem.

  114. atty36252 atty36252

There were “wild” (according to Marcos) that Galman did not kill Ninoy; so the Agrava Commission was formed.

There were “wild” accusations that Marcos cordered the Sandiganbayan to conduct a moro-moro and acquit Fabian Ver, so the Supreme Court formed an independent commission to investigate the accusations of Saturnina Galman.

There were “wild” accusations by Jake Macasaet that a Supreme Court justice is on the take, so the Supreme Court formed a commission composed of retired Justices Griño-Aquino, Vicente Mendoza, and Romeo Callejo, Sr. to investigate and make its report.

So what is wrong with forming an independent commission to investigate Trillanes’ “wild” accusations? Why does it have to be the media? What happened when Panlilio went to the media? Various excuses were concocted to explain away the money Panlilio received.

To borrow your words, give it up. Trillanes only wants to talk to an independent commission. So let the administration call his bluff. Let both sides put their money where their mouths are. How much will an independent commission cost? Not more than the money distributed at Malacanang.

it was trillanes who chose to make his accusations to the media. now he wants an “independent” commission whose members he will choose? C’mon! If every body who thinks they know the truth demanded such a commission where would we be? He is a senator, what better forum is there than that? but he is only one member of that colleagial body. He has to play by the rules. He is not any more a mutineer. Or is he? I sure hope not because that is the mistake that angie reyes made. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Just because wild accusations in the past turned out to be true, does not mean all wild accusations are true. Most of them are false. That is the fallacy you have fallen into.

“Just because wild accusations in the past turned out to be true, does not mean all wild accusations are true. Most of them are false. That is the fallacy you have fallen into.”
    ********************

    Yours is the fallacy Dean.

I did not say Trillanes’ wild accusations are true. I said wild accusations were tested by independent commissions in the past.

True, not all wild accusations merit an independent commission. But this wild accusation is certainly at par with the Galman theory, the moro-moro theory, and the Macasaet story of a justice on the take.

  121. DJBRIZALIST DJBRIZALIST

I think there ought to be truly independent investigation of the Makati blast. But all theories or accusations must be tested by facts, evidence, testimony. As a lawyer you know and support this. the problem with ad hoc investigating committees, is that not everybody will trust them because someone has to appoint them. surely we cannot hold an election for the purpose. That is why we need the Rule of Law. I think the Senate is proving “trustworthy” enough, but their independence is guaranteed not by morality or “goodness” but by the democratic principle of check and balance, of collegiality and transparency, which happens to include secure senate hearings that Media does not interfere with unethically.

Trillanes has his chance to make the Senate work for him. But he is squandering it and destroying that chance with his wild accusations.

And exactly what cases have been solved to satisfaction by the independent commissions of the past?

  122. atty36252 atty36252

Galman was solved by the Agrava commission, although Macoy ignored the majority report in favor of the Chairwoman’s.

The Conrado Vasquez commission solved the moro-moro theory, and produced the Saturnina Galman jurisprudence that double jeopardy requires a first jeopardy.

I did not like the Francisco decision because it smacked of the Supreme Court supporting one of its own. That may be the accusation here, if the Senate “finds” in favor of Trillanes.

What is wrong with appointing a retired justice, a lawyer, and an engineer. I can even give you the name of a lawyer/mechanical engineer (He placed first in the mechanical engineering board exam and eleventh in the bar.) He now works for a Makati law firm.

  128. Trillanes has his chance to make the Senate work for him. But he is squandering it and destroying that chance with his wild accusations.

Is this not a wild accusation by itself? Against Trillanes, that is.

The rationale of his “wild accusations” is precisely to preempt whatever part of the plot that hasn’t been implemented yet. And we are talking here of more bombing against innocent civilians, unless of course you don’t believe in “Oplan: Greenbase”.

The same rationale why Joey reported to the police of an assassination plot against both his father and him at the first opportunity of being tipped off by a very reliable insider.

11 dead and 90+ injured, 4 are in critical conditions + a populace in shock. Certainly, these deserve an investigation by the only branch of government that hasn’t succumbed yet to the caprices of a cheating and lying Sticky Slimy Glue.

    Again,… to preempt.

Still, we don’t see why we should be soft on Erap for trying to pull everyone’s legs, too.

Sa totoo lang, I thought he should be tried for bribery that I saw what his deal with Sabit Singson was.

  137. Please, huwag nang maraming pang drama. Ako nga nagbantay din ng tiya ko in the brink of death.
