Ibinulgar ni Joey de Venecia, anak ni House Speaker Jose de Venecia, na ang nag-aayos ng NBN/ ZTE deal ay si Comelec Chair Benjamin Abalos. Inalok raw siya ni Abalos ng $10 milyon (dolyar yan ha) para lang sumali sa kanyang proyeko. Inalok rin ni Abalos si Romy Neri, na noon ay chairman ng NEDA, na may P200 milyon siya. Aprubahan lang ang NBN/ZTE deal.
Sinabi ni Neri na sinabi niya kay Arroyo ang alok ni Abalos na P200 milyon. Sinabi niya huwag tanggapin ngunit hindi naman niya sinita si Avalos, Sinabi pa ni Arroyo kay Neri na aprubahan ang NBN/ZTE deal.
Dahil sa init ng kontrobersiya ng NBN/ZTE, hindi na itunuloy. Nag-resign si Abalos. Lumavas ang pekeng impeachment complaint at nagkalat na ang pera para sa mga kongresista at mga gubernador.
Apat na araw nag nakalipas bago lumabas sa media si Fr. Ed at inamin na nakatanggap siya ng pera sa Malacañang. Sinabi niya na bigay ni Gov. Mendoza. Sinabi naman ni Mendoza ang nagbigay raw sa kanya at ang babaeng nakaputi. Hindi raw alam ang pangalan.
Sumulat si Fr. Ed sa Malacañang at tinatanong kung saasn galing ang pera para maibalik niya. Nang unang lumabas ang pahayag ni Fr. Ed at ni Mendoza, deny to death ang Malacañang, si Evardone, and presidente ng LPP at si Puno. Wala raw bigayan ng pera na nangyari. Pinapalabas pa gawa-gawa lang ni Fr. Ed ang kuwento. Ginawa pa ni Puno na sira-ulo si Mendoza. Di ba ang babaeng nakaputi sa Balete na ating sinasabi ay multo?
Sa inis Ni Mendoza, idinitalye niya ang bigayan. Kinausap siya ni Evardone na may ibibiggay sa kanyang pera. Tinanong kung tatanggap si Fr. Ed. Nang sinabi niya na tatanggap, pinapunta siya sa isang kuwarto sa Malacañang (kung saan nakatira rin si Arroyo) at doon binigay ang dalawang supot na nagkakalaman ng P500,000 bawat supot. Maliban kay Evardone, nandoon din si Interior Undersecretrary Austere Panadero, Eddie Plaza ng Pagcor, Ray Roquero, assistant secretary for political affairs.

San Luis, when interpellated after his endorsement, also made a laughing stock of himself by acting as if he did not even read the contents of the paper he signed. The requirement of personal knowledge places Joey DV in the best position to file the complaint, then. Kaya lang, will he do it?

The strategy is the age-old divide and rule. Civil society had been divided between the Oust GMA and the Move On crowds. Pardon may have pleased the Erap support base (which has been with the Oust GMA crowd all along), but it would definitely alienate the Move On crowd.

I guess, most of us here believe in the system. While a majority here would want to see Aling Gloria go, I am yet to hear (read) anybody advocating for the abolition of the presidency. It is important to note that these tirades are directed against the occupant (legal, or otherwise) and not against the office.

I beg to differ. Public office is public trust. Those who are in government mus be as clean as Caesar’s wife. I believe that whenever, or wherever, a public official, especially the highest among them, is dragged into controversies such as the ones we are witnessing now, the rule must be reversed- She is guilty unless she proves beyond reasonable doubt that she is innocent.

Liars do not remember in fact what they say. Kaya paiba-iba. I’ve encountered a lot of them in the police, court, etc. that I interpret for. Magaling magpalit ng statement. Buti na lang masipag ang mga pulis dito na mag-take down ng mga statements nila in Japanese that I translate in their own language and then ask them to sign the statement. Kaya kung magpapalit ng statement, kailangan may justification.
Over here, pag paiba-iba ang sinasabi, ibig sabihin nagsisinungaling and that will be bad and disadvantageous especially when judgement of the court is based heavily on the written statements given during the investigation of the case, for over here trials are held only to find out the corrigibility of the accused. if judged incorrigible, automatically the punishment is death or life.
Itong si unano, I bet you, walang pag-asang magbago iyan. Satanic advocates do not deserve any pardon as a matter of fact.

You know what? Now, I can appreciate fully the actions of Mrs. Susan Poe not to mingle with these craps! Afterall, she’s doing her share to kapinuyan by doing charity in her own ways.
Despite the legalese proliferating in favour of Arroyo, i.e., where are your proofs? , like Ka Enchong, I believe that holding public office especially at that level is a matter of trust. This doctrine becomes all the more useful when a leader at that level is besieged by accusations, left right and center for corruption practices.

If he is referring to that, he might have a point. The mere fact that Estrada asked for forgiveness or pardon from Gloria is tantamoun to recognizing that her induction to the presidency in Jan 2001 as very legal. (Just my thought on the Nograles verbal caper.)

The charges against Erap were brought in 6 years ago, way before the 2004 elections so there’s no question that this pardon has anything to do with the 2004 elections.
This pardon is politically motivated as the toppling of Estrada was personally motivated too by Gloria’s desire to be in power in 2001, something she and her husband were already preparing for a whole year before she was inducted by Chief Injustice Davide.
