Esperon issues confusing orders on Gen. Lim

Breaking news!

Brig. Gen. Danny Lim has just arrived in Camp Capinpin, Tanay past 11 a.m. today from Camp Crame where he has been detained since Nov. 29, when AFP Chief Hermogenes Esperon ordered that he be brought to the ISAFP (Intelligence Service, AFP) in Camp Aguinaldo.

Lim’s security custodians are confused.

The order to transfer Lim back to Camp Capinpin where he is detained for the past two years was dated Dec. 20, 2007 but he asked that he be allowed to spend Christmas with the Magdalo officers (Sen. Antonio Trillanes et al) in Camp Crame in Quezon City. It was granted.

This morning he was brought back to Tanay. Now, there’s an order to bring him back to Quezon City, this time in Camp Aguinaldo.

It’s important that the movement of Gen. Lim be monitored closely by media and the public.

  1. I find this move by Esperon quite strange and don’t know what to make of it. So I dedicate this prayer to Esperon and Martir (to include Ermita, Reyes, et al) and hope they still remember it.

Grant us, O God, that we may worship Thee to the utmost of faith and the limits of truth and suffer us not to fail to see the light of our true religion.

Guide us that we may live this life to the fullest in devotion to Thee, in service to humanity and country, and in the realization of our true self. Let the light of Thy divine wisdom direct us to a firm resolve to live up at all times to the creeds of our institution and teach us never to fail to measure up to the ideals of the profession we have chosen through life to follow.

Make us do, or think or say of others that which we want done, or thought or said of us. Help us to live each day in the passing years in useful effort that our lives may be spent in accord with the pattern of our creeds – the true, the noble, and the high.

Give us that honest purpose in life which seeks fair deal with everyone and spurns all forms of hypocrisy that will enkindle our fighting faith, and smother all seeds of cowardice and fear in our hearts; the loyalty to our principles that place all issues above personal considerations, and shuns compromise with vice and injustice.

Strengthen our hearts with fortitude that we may discipline our lives to trail the difficult paths rather than stray on the easier ways. Teach us to aspire above the level of common lives. Help us to see all things in their true light that we may guard against frivolity in the sacred things of life even as we may enjoy in clean laughter and its many delights.

Teach us to make our play in every game, whether in mere sports or life’s mightier struggles, one where our desire to win is second only to our love of the game itself, where we triumph as considerate victors or lose with grace and determined will to win.

Endow our hearts with kindness that we may sympathize with those who sorrow and suffer; unite us in friendhsip with all and help us to share the merriment of those with cheerful countenance that we may partake of their joy. All of which we ask with faith in the everlastingness of Thine fount of grace to all men. Amen.

  2. I made a mistake earlier. I said earlier ISG compound in Fort Bonifacio.

The latest order is to bring him back to ISAFP in Camp Aguinaldo.

  3. Jug, I hope and pray for the sake of the country that Esperon be enlightened.

“The transfer was kept under wraps for security reasons. I called up the (Camp Crame) custodial center and they told me that General Lim left at around 8 a.m.,” Verdadero said in a phone interview.

“Basically, the transfer was made upon our request. We expect the court martial hearings to be held every Friday (starting January),” he added.

ellen, from PDI news. Is there an update after this news?

  5. deepcaring deepcaring

    vicente verdadero is lim’s counsel.

  6. klingon klingon

There clearly is an intention to isolate Gen. Lim. You’re right Ellen. We should be vigilant about this.

  7. deepcaring deepcaring

klingon, here is the report of PDI:

“The transfer was made upon Lim’s request, to help him prepare for the resumption of court martial hearings on his mutiny case that stemmed from the supposed plan to lead soldiers in a mass withdrawal of support from President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo last February 24, 2006, his counsel, Vicente Verdadero said.”

Clearly, it is lim’s party who is asking the transfer.

The theory of isolation has less strength, but heighten unnecessary confusion for the issue at hand.

  8. I was really worried there for a while because last time I asked friends in Crame, they said these officers were being treated well, no need to worry. I still have faith in some people in the PNP coming from the same bloodline.

  9. deepcaring deepcaring

My niece is married to a PMA graduate. He is now a high ranking officer. I personally witnessed some irresistible offers from the business community which he refused to accept.

There are still a good number of good soldiers and police officers, but the problem is systemic, well-organized. Let us pray that these few good men and women will not be corrupted sooner than we think of.

  10. You bet, Ellen, orders like the above re Gen. Lim and/or Senator Trillanes should be closely monitored by the media. There is nothing wrong about it. The public has the right to know.

The Philippines is supposed to be not under Martial Law nor is it being run now by a military junta that will make the order of wannabe dictators like dopey Esperon something absolute and inviolable. So, why this high and mighty attitude of this other dopey? Just how many people now run the Philippines like hell?

    Kawawang bansa!

    deepcaring:
The request of Atty. Verdadero was to transfer Gen. Lim from the PNP detention in Crame back to Tanay where he is detained with Gen. Renato Miranda at the former detention facility of Erap in Camp Capinpin. Atty. Vic did not request a transfer from Tanay to Camp Aguinaldo. That is why the sudden change of plans — Gen. Lim was already in Camp Capinpin when he was brought to ISAFP. No one saw that coming.

  12. klingon klingon

Gen. Lim will not be with any of his previous co-detainees. I’m not sure who are detained in ISAFP now, but definitely no Magdalo or Marine stand-off people are there.

  13. klingon klingon

ISAFP is a hardship detention place. Even lawyers’ visits are monitored. After the Magdalo officers were brought there, they could not even have a face to face visit with their attorneys. They were separated by screens and the lawyers could only see their hands. Even mail is opened, although the Supreme Court did not allow the correspondence to their counsels to be read. The men are placed in separate cells which are side by side. They can hear their co-detainees but cannot see them. You get privileges only after several months detention.
It feels more like punishment rather than detention.

  14. klingon,

Why ISAFP, is he still being interogated? Isn’t the place designed to break rebel inmates ie NPA, ASG, MILF, and occasional political prisoners like media men?
Honestly, I was expecting the release of Gen. Lim and everyone else, there was no rebellion to speak of? This is insane, really.

  15. klingon,

It looks like they want to break Gen. Lim, force him to retract his statements and issue a public apology to Gloria.

I’m back from a long journey and hapi to hear from you again our unfinish job.

Well, a nice Christmas and refeshing days with our families!

    Hi Juggernaut,

I do believe Gen. Lim and co. will continue their fight till GMA voluntarily vacating Malacanang before 2010, but if tita Glo refuse and insisting to remain in power, so this is our big big big problems?

2008 is a year of mourning and heartbreak for ALL of us Pinoy.

But believe in your heart, our dear Lord will make a way to help us againts the power of darknest now working in our midst and to restore the divisiveness in our beloved country.

  17. klingon klingon

Its probably because the investigation (for court martial purposes) of the Manila Penn incident is about to begin. They are doing this possibly to avoid collusion. But you are right. There is no collusion where there is no offense.

However, I dont think that the ISAFP could imagine being able to break Danny Lim. If they even attempt to do so, they are grossly underestimating him.

  18. balweg balweg

    Hi Maám Ellen,

I tried to submit my comment and i’m surprised that since Dec. 24, 2007, i posted some of my comment still not yet published or accepted.

Could you please remind me about this matter if my comment not accepted or there is any problem about this matter.

    Respectfully yours,

    Balweg

  19. This following poem is composed entirely of actual quotes from Gloria Arroyo

    “Practice What You Preach!”

    I am only human
I do not plan my life.
    I have no grandiose dreams
The truth is I am cute and short !

It is not a cabinet that meets at midnight
Our Cabinet members were chosen on the basis of integrity.
I have asked the Secretary to stop stage-managed kidnappings
Just articulate what we are doing, less glitz, less porma!

    Let the trial begin!
The court has spoken, and the message is clear.
Well, if he wants me to visit him, I will.
No one but no one can set conditions!

I am the President of all Filipinos
We shall give peace a chance
The only peace for them is the peace of the graveyard
    They will be pulverized!

    Malacanang is not bothered
The military now is very professional.
There will be no peace table for them
If they want to stay alive, they should surrender!

The days of plunder are over
Nobody is near a corridor of power
    My example is integrity
    Practice what you preach!

the people in crame and tanay are all in high spirits. probably one of their most memorable christmases. the new year presents new hope. if only allofyou could see the officers both in tanay and crame, you wouldnt believe they are victims of the tyranny of some. they have found peace in themselves, freed from the bondage and trappings of pride, power and greed.

The resolved spirit of Gen Lim cannot be easily weakened and broken by physical and psychological harm in a place of punishment as klingon aptly described ISAFP.

Unlike the political prisoners which all military are brain-washed as their primal enemies, Gen Lim still enjoys their respect and see his heroic act as a powerful voice to inflesh their dreams for reform.

However, the role-reversal scenario, where the low ranking officers have given full blanket authority to interrogate the erring well-medalled general, is not a remote scenario. Ellen and her allies must be vigilant and pro-active.

I personally witnessed the brutality and arrogance of the uniformed officers. Their lust for power, thru the use of lethal weapons, caused awe and tremble among many innocents civilians accused as NPAs. Awe because their brilliant brains see nothing but the power of the bullets; tremble because these people have no remorse in killing unarmed and powerless pepes and pilars.

i think the best way now is we pray that this people from GMA her evil minions, esperon, ermita, puno,(si)raul(o) gonzalez who keeps on playing god,nsa gonzales who think he is the saviour of the filipino people,mr goebel bunyi, yes and also jdv, ramos and the cardinals and bishop and priest who keeps on pretending to be blind and dumb as if they do not know all GMA`s evil ways of corruption, cheating and killing of innocent people being blamed as reds or communist or as colateral damaged… will suffer the wrath of god. and all of them will be six feet under the ground so we can move and have a lasting peace in our country!! God bless the philippines!!

Deep caring, please read carefully the reports before you defend you friends (or bosses).

As Klingon said:The request of Atty. Verdadero was to transfer Gen. Lim from the PNP detention in Crame back to Tanay where he is detained with Gen. Nice try to sow confusion here. But people here know better.

  28. ellen, behind this confusing movement of gen lim i can only conclude that mr HERmogfenes espweron is trying to eliminate gen lim for good. or in short to silence him that is why we the public especially the press should always be on the lookout and be vigilant on the movement of gen lim.

  29. Could be part of the move to implicate others to 2006, like Lacson, for starters. Esperon is terribly pissed with Lacson nowadays.

  30. luzviminda luzviminda

    TongueT,

Dun nga sa isang interview kay Esperon ay lumabas ang kabastusan niya ng sinabing niyang ayaw din niya kay Lacson. In the way he said it ay talagang napakabastos! Imagine, bastusin ba naman ang isang Senador who is a civilian na dapat ay ginagalang niya. Bastos talaga at AROGANTE! Hindi talaga karapat-dapat na saluduhan!

  31. luzviminda luzviminda

Esperon wants Gen. Lim to be isolated from other soldiers dahil alam niya na malakas ang hatak at maraming sundalong naniniwala kay Gen Lim. Laking takot ni Duwag Esperon na baka sa susunod na pagkakataon ay magtagumpay na ang pinaglalaban ng mga PEOPLE’s HEROES at mawala na sila sa pinagsasasaang nakaw na puwesto!

  32. rose rose

Hindi kaya ito ay isang intentional confusion designed by Esperon..as in “confuse the enemy” and in the process an intentional accident will happen or an intentional ambush sa
“pagkadto- pakari” sa pagdala kay Lim kung saan saan…And then a reason for martial law? Sana hindi..but he can’t be
    trusted.

  33. Valdemar Valdemar

Is the police directly under Esperon? Otherwise the confusion is imminent as usual always.

  34. Valdemar, the police is under Razon. Esperon’s jurisdiction is the military.

  35. klingon klingon

Ellen, that is why Esperon is open to a contempt charge. It was the Makati Court that ordered Lim’s transfer to Tanay. Only a court order either from the same court or from a higher one could overrule that. Valdemar’s question actually highlights Esperon’s arrogance in subverting the court’s order.

  36. klingon klingon

My guess is that Esperon will play the national security card in justifying his direct disobedience of the court’s order.

  37. Ah yes, the national security trump card. Again we see the rule of law being used to GMA’s advantage here. Does she think that a “guilty” verdict will vindicate her? Who will believe it? The way I see it, they desperately need a confession, a retraction, and a public apology for them to pull this off with a bit of credibility.

  38. This latest move by mr arseperon to be contemptuous against a civil court ruling again shows how wise it would be for the national interest, to make a definitive separation between military (AFP) and civilians (PNP).

Then, the military have a demarcation to deal with their military law within the confines of a barracks and the PNP dealing with the civil law in the civil courts.

Give mr arseperon an inch and he will take a mile.

  39. bisaya bisaya

Ellen, these are the trying times for the upright officers.Gen. Danilo Lim’s rights is continually being violated in the guise of national security. All of these events if we analyze it bottoms down to usurped presidency and hello garci. This will not end even Esperon retires since the groomed next in line will definitely be pro-corruption liked the commander in chief. I’m more inclined to believe though that judging from the miscalculations done by reformist composed of PMA grads nothing will be successful in the horizon. The people are passive in the face of hardships. Complaints are abundant but action for reforms are none. Bahala na attitude ang pinaiiral, tapos nagrereklamo. Sa PNP this December when all other gov’t agencies got their bonuses, they were told not enough money. Ito ang napala nila for arresting the reformist, although mga opisyal and some SAF members got something but in general gutom! Sa AFP siguro ganun din lalo na EP’s. Pero tingnan nila mga alyado sa politika, limpak-limpak na pera ang bitbit.I don’t know what the silent majority in the armed forces are thinking.

  40. bisaya,

True. I was in the OSIM shop the other day and I was looking at this massage chair that the saleslady told me was Php300K, so I just sampled it for 45mins, then came this chinese lady who bought one (in cash) and she mentioned it was for some GENERAL in Crame. Wow! Who could be that lucky general?

  41. deepcaring deepcaring

    Gabriela:

I am not in a payrol of any military or civilian bosses. That’s why I manage my own businesses.

If you follow thru and double check my PDI source, you will find that I’m using the recent news item and I even asked ellen if there are any updates.

I have my own nightmares with the military and tortured during martial law years. I’m no longer with the movement but I still dream, like you, for a better world. Nobody sow confusion here and people here in my judgment are mature to take different opinions. And if you read my entries here, you may see that I am not different from everyone here. I’m no enemy. God bless.

jug: “what they need is a confession..to have credibility.”
…well, what the people need is a true confession from Gloria, Esperon and all those who helped them (voluntarily or not) that nagkasala sila…they cheated, they lied, and they stole. they need not show us proofs…we know; they need not give an alibi..we know..and for their penance just resign go to ….then we know that at last you are credible..sana nga!
