Ang Dec. 30 ay araw na ginugunita ng bayang Pilipino ang kagitingan ng ating pambansang bayani na si Jose Rizal.
Ito ang araw na binaril si Rizal sa Luneta dahil sa kanyang mga sinulat na gumigising sa mamamayang Pilipino sa pang-aapi na ginagawa ng mga kastila. Ipinaglaban ni Rizal hanggang sa kamatayan ang katotohanan
Ngunit noong Dec. 30, 2003 sa Baguio City, sinabi ni Arroyo sa harap ng monumento ni Rizal na hindi siya tatakbo sa 2004 na eleksyon dahil nakita nyang yun ang sanhi ng pagkawatak-watak ng bayan.
Ilang buwan ang nakalipas, inanunsyo niya na tatakbo siya. At hindi lang siya tumakbo. Nandaya pa. Ninakaw pa ang boto na hindi kanya.
Mula noon patong-patong na kasalanan pa ang kanyang ginawa para lamang martakpan ang ginawa niyang pandaraya. Ang daming nasirang career sa military. Maraming buhay ang na-apektuhan. Kasama na ang mga inosente.
Kasama na doon sa naapektuhan ang limang enlisted na Army Rangers na tinanggal sa serbisyo noong Dec. 15. Araw ng kapaskuhan.
Ang lima ay sina Sgt. Orlando A. Valencia, Cpl Walter A. Francisco, Cpl Ramon P. Perania Jr.,Cpl Reynaldo C. Pacete, and Pfc Leon N. Ones Jr.
Halos magdalawang taon silang ikinulong na walang charges. Tapos, noong Biyernes, nakatanggap sila ng sulat na tanggal na raw sila mula noong Dec. 25, 2007. Ang order ay pirmado ni Brig. Gen. Ralph A. Villanueva, chief of staff ni Philippine Army Chief Lt. Gen. Alexander Yano. Chief of staff ni Yano si Villanueva.
Ang lima ay kasama sa 40 na enlisted men na inuutos ni AFP Chief Hermogenes Esperon na ikulong dahil sa insidente noong Feb. 2006 nang may mga opisyal na nagplanong mag-martsa kasama ng mga sibilyan at hilingin na magbitiw si Arroyo dahil naibulgar sa pamagitan ng “Hello Garci” na peke siyang presidente.
Walang pruweba si Esperon na kasama yung mga enlisted personnel kaya kinulong lang niya at hindi sinampahan ng kaso. Siguro akala nila magagamit nila ang mga enlisted personnel laban kina Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim, ang lider ng Rangers na nakakulong.
Kaso hindi pumayag itong mga enlisted personnel na gagamitin sila kasinungalingan. Kaya pinagtatangal sila. Una ang 26 noong Oktubre. Sunod ang siyam noong Nobyembre (ang pito raw pinayagan raw bumalik sa serbisyo). Ngayon itong lima.
Isa sa lima ay si Cpl Reynaldo Pacete, na nabigyan ng medalyang Gold Cross dahil sa kabayanihang kanyang ipinakita sa pagsalakay ng kuta ng Abu Sayyaf sa Camp Abdurajak sa Basilan noong taong 2000.
Dahil sa kabayanihan ng mga sundalo katulad ni Cpl Pacete, kanilang nailigtas ang 28 na hostages ng ASG.
Noong Biyernes, tinanggal si Pacete sa serbisyo “without honor”. Dishonorable discharge Wala siyang natanggap na retirement benefits sa mahabang taon na serbisyo niya sa military.
Masaya kaya sina Villanueva, Yano at Esperon sa kanilang ginawa?

Perhaps, all was lied. As much as I despised and hated whore Gloria Arroyo all these years for what she has done to the country, yet couldn’t blame whore Gloria for the broken promised she made on Dec. 30, 2003 at Jose Rizal Monument in Baquio City. Whore Gloria was also entitled to the changed of mind, I won’t hold it against whore Gloria. We all do it as human being. However, she has no right to steal the election from FPJ, and the will of the majority.
Rizal was a non-violent person, but he is now the rallying point of violence. Maybe we can better remove Rizal from our list. Change him with PGMA. At least the violence will be directed to the monument and not towards the people.

We celebrate today the heroism of Jose Rizal who fought for truth and justice.
Yet we persecute these five enlisted men for fighting what is morally right, to tell the truth to the people.

We need not go beyond the second paragraph, which reads,

to realise that the writer has no knowledge that a CEO in any professional private organization would be bound to follow the written procedure of the private organization for misdemeanors, that a written complaint (charge) would be given to the person alleged to have committed the alleged misdemeanor.
The person alleged to have committed the said written misdemeanor would be given time to appear before the CEO and produce any persons or documents in his defense and allowed employ a lawyer or friend to assist him at such a meeting with the CEO.
The result, would be published in a transparent way with the CEO giving clear reasons for the result concluded.
If there was no clear evidence to support the complaint the CEO would certainly not be able to dismiss the employee, that’s for sure.

For me it shows that the AFP has not kept up to date professionally with their written or even following their own procedures which are seriously obsolete.
For sure in the private sector they would receive better treatment.
I don’t know Mr Yano but let me say this, sure many of your contacts in the military may confirm to you that Gen. Yano is a morally upright person but the fact is one small moment with a pen can destroy reputations.
I still think Mr Yano is a disgrace to his uniform.

There are some self-proclaimed intellectuals who actually have the gall to criticize and put down the Filipino as if they didn’t have Filipino blood coursing through their veins.
In all insensitivity, when they hear surveys that say a great number is experiencing involuntary hunger – they say I myself miss breakfast sometimes or when they hear people shouting oppression/repression (Burgos, missing/murdered media men, human rights violations) – they say I don’t feel oppressed, when they should have asked WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP? or WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT THIS?

These are the things I’ve been longing to say about these brigaders and lobbyists of the Dorobo, who are apparently getting frantic now trying hard to clean up the image of the Dorobo with government funds that should be used instead in improving the lot of majority of Filipinos who live below poverty line unless they get the chance to get out of the Philippines and sweat it out working overseas.
I have actually received letters from lot many people, relatives and non-relatives, asking me to sponsor them to come to Japan to work. I am getting two of my closest relatives with intention of sending them back to the Philippines after getting the proper training and skills to start on their own back home.

At least, it is still better than the Philippines despite the artificial boosting up of the peso against the dollar just so the robbers stealing money from the treasury can have more dollars or Euro to stash in some foreign banks.

Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita and unnamed officials in two government agencies were identified as those lobbying intensely for the transfer of a contract for the development of a prime Tokyo property from a consortium that won it through an auction.
Palace and embassy sources yesterday disclosed that Malacañang itself is pushing the awarding of the development of a Philippine property in the upscale Shibuya district in Tokyo, Japan to another contractor instead of the original group that won it despite objections from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
The source pointed to officials at the Office of the Executive Secretary, the Department of Justice (DoJ) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as pursuing the award of the contract for 2,488-square meter Napeidei property in favor of Japanese contractor Masaichi Tsuchiya.

Glad to read a lot of posts here now echoing sentiments I have posted previously re attempts to discredit the critics of the Dorobo and her minions even with millions robbed from the treasury.

It would do well to consider this administration’s penchant for disallowing the democratic processes to function properly. GMA enjoys the presumptions of regularity, true. But she continues to do so only at the expense of her corruption of the system — by tampering with evidence (not to mention kidnapping witnesses), subverting the processes (P500,000.00 per Congressman), gagging the people (EO 464), ad nauseam.
So don’t talk to us about evidence and presumptions, if the entire means to present such evidence has been taken away, evidence becomes irrelevant. We never put Marcos himself on trial. We couldn’t. He controlled everything: the courts, the legislature, the executive. Evrything was shut down to all but his precious few cronies. The result? Revolution.

Now GMA has taken that one step further. She is trying to contol the elements of people power. All forms of dissent that could lead to peaceful revolution are also being shut down. She prevents the massing of people and the free expression of opinion, she corrupts not only government officials, but even bribes churchmen (either through direct giving of envelopes at CBCP meetings or through access to the deep pockets of jueteng operators).
Where is the evidence, you say? Get real. Sulbatz is right, the unpublished Mayuga report should be sufficient evidence of the illegitimacy of GMA, but good luck trying to get that out.

I’ve known of this shady deal in summer. The Japanese government, which has served as caretaker for the properties/patrimonies in Japan in accordance with the reparations treaty between the Philippines and Japan, was actually the first one to question the questionable bidder.
Now, we see the Dorobos finding a scapegoat in Ermita, but the Japanese government cannot be deceived. Everybody here is aware of the principle of “command responsibility.”
In other words, Mrs. Dorobo will have a lot of explaining to do that I doubt the incumbent Philippine ambassador is willing to undertake on his own especially when he has been reportedly shut out of the deal with the bidding held in Manila in secret due to groups here opposed to such shady deals.
I have actually provided my friends in the MFA and National Police Agency (NPA) in Japan regarding this shady deal.
The Japanese government may not have full jurisdiction on the Philippine government, but surely it is duty bound to check on the shady deals involving Japanese nationals especially when this may even have adverse effect on the fragile relationship between Japan and the Philippines.
What we do here in fact is not to shame the Filipinos but to right the wrongs being committed in the name of the Philippines and the Filipino people.

My prediction for 2008 – 2010
It appears to me that this administration is in panic mode for the least problem that looks as if it may challenge their authority. Look at any problem that they have which seems to be a daily event and similar to an ER Doctor they perform band-aid repairs to cover over the problem.
IF, there is an election in 2010 what more frightening it would be for this administartion and their small group of elite to see Erap run for President in 2010.
If Erap does run there’s no doubt that the poorest of the population (45%) would give him a landslide victory, now there’s good cause to be an administration in panic.
It could happen and they know it. Have a Happy New Year.

All electronic file copies in his computer “mysteriously” disappeared (his computer was also destroyed).

There are a number of opinion makers in our country, can you identify one who dream Rizal’s dream? I think there are others who qualify too, but do they group together and launch a systematic campaign to make their voices louder enough to awaken a critical mass to prograssively promote the needed reforms?
What I see are variety of Rizals killing one another, safeguarding their own vested interest, aligning to those who are at the economic and political powers. I was one of those who aggressively campaigned for the ouster of Estrada, at least in the business circle I was in. I even convinced the owner of my company at the time to give the plant half day so we can all go to EDSA (with baon pa). Looking back, I have no regrets, except that I expected Gloria not to run for President after.
How old will Erap be in 2010? Really, do you believe he still has the gumption to run for president? Right now he’s doing what I would be doing also if I were in his shoes, charity work, his presence alone in Payatas brings cheer to the people there, let them be happy.
As for who will be the next President, no one knows for sure. Let us take it one day at a time…

That poor people are more politically aware than the rich ones is a statement I totally agree with. How can they be unaware when they are the ones mostly bearing the brunt of political decisions?
However, deepcaring’s point may be that whatever political awareness the poor have does not translate to political action. Given the chance to choose between what your conscience dictates and how your stomach grumbles, the latter will always have priority over the former.
I saw an episode of “Noypi, Ikaw ba ‘to?” recently. Those who are considered poorest of the poor have more sense of charity and civic mindedness than their more affluent brethren. They appear to entertain no insecurities, and they are willing to part with whatever meager resources they have just to help someone in distress. Now, that’s political awareness that must be emulated by those who profess undying love for the masa.
Political action in our country comes with an usurious price tag. When the poor decides to exercise his constitutional rights it is at the expense of his daily earnings, whether it be the right to vote, to complain, to peaceably assemble for a worthy cause.
So, even if the poor are politically aware,most of the time, they cannot act on it because of the price they have to pay.
I heard a buko vendor near the Sandigan Bayan interviewed on why he did not join the rally, he answered: ” Gusto ko sanang sumali, kaya lang wala kaming kakainin pag hindi hindi ako magtitinda, kawawa naman ang mga anak ko”.
We sometimes make things complicated when we begin to analyze and search for motives and reasons for another individual’s actions. What seems to be irrational to us may be rational to that individual. It may be that the choice of the poor may be guided by hunger…it also may be that the choice of the rich may be guided by greed. And of course, IT MAY NOT BE AT ALL! But the answers are actually right there before our very eyes.

In view of vote buying, (where the greedy and manipulative politicians who painted themselves as champions of the poor, like erap) the 45% votes is not something to be proud of, except to the paid admirers of erap. I am not undermining or maliciously degrading the poor ellen. I know you know well the frustration of those who devoted time and effort in knowing the candidates and wisely casted their votes but unfortunately their votes became insignificant due to rampant vote buying. This is a sad scenario in our democracy. We did our best in voters education but problem of vote buying has become more complex at the same time the machineries of the trapos continue to abuse the poverty in the land.
Despite the rampant vote buying, there are still awakened voters who make a statement vote like the case of Fr Panlilio, and even that of Senator Trillanes. It is a case of an awakened people and how we wish there will be more and more awake voters.
Of course, vote buying is just part of the systemic electoral fraud and malpractices. But there are signs of voters awakening: high media ad expense and handsome actors did not make it to the senate. This is a good news in our electoral landscape.
