It looks like AFP chief Hermogenes Esperon’s intense (some even say “shameless”) lobbying for extension of his services is for nothing. Two of Gloria Arroyo’s influential advisers have told her to let go of Esperon when he retires on February 9.
Our usual reliable sources said Rear Adm. Leonardo Calderon, AFP deputy chief of staff for intelligence, and national security adviser Norberto Gonzales discussed with GMA the pros and cons of extending Esperon’s services and the cons outweighed the pros.
Esperon’s proven loyalty to GMA was cited as one of the advantages in giving him an extension, but it could not make up for the expected demoralization in the military, especially among those prejudiced by retaining him.
Calderon, by the way, is Arroyo’s relative.
Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, who was himself reported to be replaced by Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno, favored retaining Esperon. Both Ermita and Esperon are known FVR “boys.” That could be a reason for his support of Esperon’s continued stay in the service.
The source said Gonzales and Calderon warned Arroyo that extending Esperon would be “destabilizing” to her presidency.
Just a naughty thought: Could it be a reason why Ermita wants Esperon’s services extended?

Sulbatz also cited another reason for extending Esperon’s services.
“Kailangan din natin si Lorna Esperon. Ano pa ang magiging saysay ng AFP Ladies Club kung wala ng Lorna na titingalain at papalakpakan ala Imelda. Sino pa ang maririnig nating sumisigaw with a “hoarse voice”? Sino pa ang mag-mamanage ng V-Luna ngayon. Por Diyos porsyento, maawa naman tayo sa mga pasyente sa V-Luna. I-extend si Esperon! Yan ang sigaw ng bayan.”

But being in a war zone, anyone who goes there, other than soldiers, know that the risk is always present..but with hundreds of our civilians workers there, only one diplomat been the victim of war..we suffered a lot of Troop casualties of more than Seventy Soldiers now and the end is not getting closer..
Point, Vic, is that the Philippine government should not allow Filipinos to go to troubled spot just to buoy up Philippine economy. The US for instance has just passed an advisory for US citizens not to use Philippine flight carriers because of the terror scare.
I, myself, don’t recommend PAL to my clients who travel to the Philippines because of bad service, not really because of terrorism that is unlikely to happen from Narita because of the effective security check. Even the drugs in the stomach of drug smugglers can be detected as a matter of fact.
My friends in Tokyo have actually stopped using PAL themselves.

The moment they decided to severe ties with the mainstream AFP, they consider this situation like a good military tactician. It is us the people apart from the AFP/PNP that needs to think and search ourselves how can we turn the tables from this GMA rule.

There is one important event that I really enjoy going home to my hometown every time and that is the reenactment of the BATTLE OF MACTAN. More so when I got older, as I learned to appreciate its meaning in my life. Near naked natives (savages, we’d like to call ourselves when we we’re young and taking part in it) armed with bolos and spears defeating an armor-clad, armed with guns and cannons Spanish supermen. Lately, no organizer will take us in even if we paid money to participate, they say it will not look good for native warriors with pot-bellies, running around in g-strings, and falling all over the place, the Spanish soldiers will die laughing.
Overwhelming odds can only overwhelm those who allow themselves to be. If we focus too much on our weaknesses and be paralyzed or slowed down by insecurity and self-pity, we are done for, for sure, and all the Six Sigma, MBO, Organizational Development, Steven Covey, John Maxwell, Peter Drucker, etc. concepts will not be able to help us. Instead, WE MUST FOCUS ON OUR GOALS, all the rest are just minor setbacks that we can manage along the way, maybe even ignore. I’m sure many of us have our own personal goals, and some are even very good at meeting corporate goals. Come to think of it, do we have a NATIONAL GOAL at all? I believe that should be made clear to everyone.
We all have our jobs to do, we OFWs know ours (keep sending money to the folks back home), the activists fighting for good government, the decent public officials working on public administration, the local entrepreneurs provide employment, teachers, plumbers, and Malabanan Sanitary Engineers also. Individually, we may have to do our jobs better than anyone else. In the meantime, we do what we have been doing all this time, feed the hungry, enlighten the oblivious, and strengthen those who weaken, while being aware of the consequences of whats going on around us. I truly believe that inspite of our apparent misgivings, we will persevere until such time we reach our goals, we just need to be clear of what they are.

I bet you that despite the show of fearlessness, Saddam must have felt nervous and fear at the brink of death knowing in his heart what kind of judgment he would deserve to get from the Lord above unless he was like Hitler, who according to those who have come back from the land of the dead say he still reciting at the top of his voice his litanies against the Jews.
I was in Auschwitz two years ago and to this day, the tons of hair gathered from the Jews prior to their death, thousands of shoes(even those of children), thousands of suitcases with names on them displayed eerily haunt me.
When I read the treatment of the Tanay Boys, incarcerated in a common area using common toilets(no walls separating the toilets-as in OPEN), I was reminded of Hitler’s crimes. The officers’ mess hall(their dining area) overlooked the guilotine and the crematory (where they burned the bodies). While the Jews were being killed and burned, the Germans(Hitler’s men) were merrily celebrating! In the other buildings where there were prison cells, the openings on the wall were only a few inches, just enough for an eye to see and hear the executions made every minute. Those who would be executed soon were placed closer to the firing wall. The firing wall had thousands of bullet holes.
Dorobo’s gang can be likened to Hitler. They take pleasure in incarcerating the innocent people while the real criminals are running the government! Activists are systematically killed by the military headed by the Dorobo’s chosen few. Our country and its people are under siege by a few lunatics like Hitler. Like Hitler and Saddam, they too will end tragically (it is everyone’s hope and prayer)!
These five soldiers(some former) were probably earmarked to be the pawn in the “destabilization” drama financed by the DOROBO, produced by the siRAULo and directed by Razon with the special participation of the active soldiers themselves.
We would think that in this day and age of civilization men would be more humane but where money and power are at stake, the likes of Hitler always come out of the woodwork!

Prayer lamang ng isang banal at matuwid na Kristiyanong Pinoy eh tanggal yang si GMA, eh paano ba kung marami ang mag-aayuno at dadalangin sa Panginoon na matapos na ang kalbaryong ito sa ating bayan.

But more often than not, kasi matigas ang ulo ng mga tao as when the Israelites in fact asked for a king even when God was already leading them, even showing them a lot of miracles for them to believe in Him. Israel was the first nation of God; but the Israelites turned away from God and was cursed since then. That’s why Israel continues to experience wars and troubles up to this day. The Book of Job ako talagang na-inspire. Job lost everything but he remained faithful to God. Reward doesn’t come at once. As long as one continues to trust and have faith in God, his prayer shall be answered. We all pray that God now removes this illegal leader of our country. The people have suffered so much. Regardless of your religion, my friends here in this blog, pray…make a petition to the God Almighty that this GMA be removed now.
