Ateneo vs La Salle for Sanctuary Fund on March 16

March 16 is the new date for this game for the Sanctuary Fund.

Blue against Green. Eagles against Archers. Ateneo versus La Salle.

At almost every turn, people recognize that these three statements could only spell one thing: competition. Arguably the most storied rivalry in the country, a game that has “La Salle” in the same line as “Ateneo” always draws interest from people who get to know about it because they are sure to catch a highly spirited, tension-filled, and exciting game. People recognize that “Blue” is never a good combination for “Green”.

But in the light of the current turmoil our country faces today, when lies, excuses, and cover ups fill our television sets, radios and even newspapers, that line that separates the “Green” from the “Blue” disappears to show strong, united force seeking one thing: TRUTH.

“Magkasangga sa Katotohanan” will feature players from the usually-rival schools teaming up with each other in a friendly game as a sign of unity for that “truth” that all of us are so desperately hoping to know. This game may be the only time one would see a player wearing a La Salle jersey passing to a player wearing an Ateneo jersey. This game seeks to show the country that even the worst of enemies can set differences aside in order to achieve a common cause for the good.

The game’s opening rites will be graced by Engr. Jun Lozada.

Game will take place on March 16, 1PM at the Araneta Colliseum. Ticket prices are at PhP 350, PhP 300, PhP 120, PhP 70, PhP 25. For ticket reservations, please call Ticketnet at 911-5555.

Proceeds of this event will benefit the Sanctuary Fund.

  2. Impressive!

This is the supreme example of people’s contempt for the members of the Malacanang Mafia!

  3. So, bulok na ang line ng brigada ni Luli that Filipinos cannot reconcile and unite versus Gloria Dorobo! Hep-hep hurrah to the organizers of this kind of activities for TRUTH and JUSTICE!

I have written an article that I think is so pertinent today.
The Truth Will Set Us Free

When God created man, He did not endow him with the gift or ability to know the future since it will be useless if he does not know the Truth at the present. What He did was to give man the Truth , to know it, to live it and to tell it and the future will take care of itself, no need to know it in advance. Man fell because he chose to disregard the Truth and everything changed ever since. It is the same Truth that has been disregarded before that will set us free now. The Good Book tells us:

“Be not therefore anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof”.
    (Matt 6:34 ASV)

I would like to share this story about the importance of knowing the Truth and how it can set us free:

“One day, a man found an eagle’s egg and put it into the nest of a prairie chicken. The eaglet hatched with the brood of chicks and grew up with them.
All his life, the changeling eagle, thinking it was a prairie chicken, did what the prairie chickens did. He scratched in the dirt for seeds and insects to eat. He clucked, cackled and flew in a brief thrashing of wings and flurry of feathers no more than a few feet off the ground. After all, that’s how prairie chickens were supposed to fly.
Years passed and the changeling eagle grew old. One day, he saw a magnificent bird far above him in the cloudless sky, hanging with graceful majesty on the powerful wind currents, it soared with scarcely a beat of its strong golden wings.
“What a beautiful bird!” said the changeling eagle to his neighbor.”What is it?”
“That’s an eagle – the chief of the birds”, the neighbor clucked, “but don’t give it a second thought, you could never be like him, come let’s go find us some worms and insects.”
So the changeling eagle never gave it another thought and it died thinking it was a prairie chicken.”

What a tragedy, had he just known the truth, he would have been freed by it, he would have been the bird his Creator designed him to be.

Our country is like this eagle, designed by its Creator to soar high with graceful majesty in the cloudless sky if only the truth is known to it, if only as a people we decide to do what is right.
Doing what is right does not have a consequence only reward.
We should teach our children to know the truth and to do what is right so that they will not be hostaged by the unknown called tomorrow. No better and appropriate time to teach them than now and no better method than by example.

“We do not inherit this country from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”- anonymous

Enough of the lies, enough of corruption, let the Truth set us free.

Nakakatuwa naman at di naging hadlang ang pagiging stiff competitors ng LA Salle at Ateneo to conduct this fund-raising activity! At least personally, di na ako magkakaron ng internal conflict for being a hybrid La Sallistang Atenista – he he he…

Seriously, this is another example of people crossing their social, political, and economic borderlines for social change.

Let’s make sure lang that with the Sanctuary Fund, we are also able to pay for Jun Lozada’s credit card bill for his purchases of brand-name clothes and items while in HongKong. Also, let’s not forget to provide for Jun’s second family — his girlfriend and 3 kids.

Don’t you worry kgg.

    From Ernie Maceda, Tribune

Politicians now welcome. The Black and White Movement’s exclusive “no politicians allowed” policy for today’s Ayala Rally was rejected by other organizations when Makati City Mayor Jojo Binay threatened to pull out of the rally. Binay said “I am a politician, so exclude me too. Former President Cory is a politician, and so was Ninoy and now Noynoy. I am out and you can build your own stage.”

By the way, who are members of the Black and White Movement? We only see Vicente Romano and Leah Navarro. Maybe they should release the list of their members and explain who are black, who are white and who are gray.

    Balweg:

Para mas konkreto, I am inclined to put in place a “transitional council” after ousting the current administration. This council would lay the groundwork for reengineering the current public administration and governance (kasama na diyan ang institutionalization ng accountability, transparency, and traceability ng mga business transactions in gov’t.). Ang i-prioritize e ang electoral system at pag repaso ng COMELEC para makapag-lunsad agad ng eleksyon… mahaba pa ito pero installment muna… masarap pag-usapan over a cup of hot espresso or a cold bottle of San Mig Lite, he he..

This just proves that they are blocking the freedom of our rights bilang mga mamamayan ng Pilipinas, nag babayad tayo ng buwis para swelduhan ang mga pulis.

“I think Avalanche has a point. Wag pakasisiguro kay Jun Lozada. Gamitin mabuti ang isip.”

–that’s exactly what I mean. I’ve been reiterating my desire that we be freed from graft and corruption. Honestly, Jun Lozada, remains to be a ‘suspect’. Especially now that I’ve been told by someone who used to work for the former speaker of the house that Lozada has been in the former speaker’s ‘payroll’ for some time now… even before this ZTE scam was brought into the open. I’m not saying that this is true, but coming from someone who had access to that kind of information … well, let’s just see if this side of Lozada will be brought into the open. Then, that would be the time that I can say whether I believe this ‘rumor’ or not.

I emailed a friend, a president of a Catholic School in Mindanao, asking him of his school’s activity tomorrow in line with the search for the Truth and Accountability. Wonder if they have any. Will see…

  27. Rallyists should stay where they are based if they cannot get into Manila/Makati because of the checkpoints. Mas dramatic if the protest rallies become sporadic and nationwide.

I doubt if the military will even be able to stop them even where the crooks’ friends are strong and powerful. Time to show these creeps the real Filipino power!

By then, I supposed the military and police nationwide will be encouraged to leave their posts and join the crowd! Mabuhay ang mga tunay na bayani!

  28. Elvira Sahara Elvira Sahara

    Chi,
I think so ,too! A friend has just narrated that even in their town in Laguna, her sisters reported that they are asked to attend the rally tomorrow in search for Truth!

Cardinal Rosales has finally spoken. Who says he’s very quiet? Please read this:

MANILA, Philippines – Concerned they may get lost or hurt, Manila archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales advised participants not to bring their children to Friday’s inter-faith rally in Makati City.

Rosales told Church-run Radio Veritas that the children, including elementary and high school students, may be hurt if there is pushing and shoving during the rally.

  32. bitchevil bitchevil

Damn this Rosales, uncle of Malacanang’s Meldy Poblador. After being silent for several months, is that the only thing he could say? Warn people not to bring children to the rallies? Since when did he show concern for the people? Doesn’t he have any other statement to issue? The hell with Rosales and the rest of corrupt Bishops on Malacanang’s payroll!

“Among the countries where various forms of protest are set to take place include Canada, the US, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Japan, Taiwan and Macau,”. abante

  34. Will somebody please tell these priests that it is a prayer rally where everyone, young and old, are supposed to behave. Bakit anong palagay niya?

Anong sinasabi niyang delikado? Bakit magkakagulo ba? Sinong manggugulo?

Halatang hindi nagbabasa ng Bible si Rosales. Busy yata ng pagbibilang ng pera. Bakit anong akala niya sa mga anti-Dorobo? Katulad noong mga sundalo ni Dorobo?

Let me remind him of the example of Christ when he told his disciples, “Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.”(Matt. 19:14-15)

Ito pa ang isa: “Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 18:10)

I think that a lot of bloggers here are identified as either anti-GMA or pro-GMA. It appears that I’ve been branded here as a pro-GMA. Well, you’re wrong. I am pro-TRUTH. But, it appears that we have some differing opinions with respect to the sanctuary fund, the CBCP’s decision …. but that doesn’t make mea pro-GMA. Marami pala ang mabababaw ang pag-iisip at pag-unawa dito. I can’t blame that on anyone …. meron tayong kaniya-kaniyang paninindigan. I am not a pro-Jun Lozada as he continues to remain ‘suspect’ to me considering some ‘inside’ info that I’ve been receiving. I do not and will not consider him a HERO … he’s not an inch close to NINOY AQUINO, and the ‘truths?!’ he has been proclaiming appear to be ‘un-truths’ to me. Sorry, but that’s how I see Lozada and Madriaga.

I feel sad reading attacks against members of the religious, simply because the way they were attacked in this forum are clear examples of ‘evil’ working in some of us. The use of some language shows that some of us have forgotten that members of the religious are representations of Christ. You and I may disagree with some of their actions or statements, but I just feel that our sentiments could be worded straightforwardly instead of using some ‘profane’ language. It’s just like using those language addressed to God! They’re indeed a sacrilege!

Finally, I still feel that the money we contribute towards the sanctuary fund could be better into put use for the poor who are everywhere.

That’s my 2 cents worth. If you wish to brand me as pro-GMA and call me by any name …. that’s just you … It’s easy to read the kind of person one is by one’s choice of words.
