As her mother prepares for chemo, Kris suffers miscarriage

by Gerardine Fe Trillana and Regina Bengco

Television personality Kris Aquino
suffered a miscarriage Tuesday, a day after she broke the news that her mother former President Corazon Aquino is suffering from colon cancer.

Kris was on her eighth week of pregnancy.

In a text message to friends, Kris, 37, said: “Dr. Pastorfide already ruled that I had miscarriage. My gestational sac has collapsed and my ovum is blighted. This I’m sure is part of God’s will because he wants me to be able to give my mom the best care and as much time as possible without any health concerns of my own.”

A blighted ovum or an embryonic gestation is a condition when the embryo does not fully develop. This usually happens in the first trimester or in very early gestation. A blighted ovum is usually the result of chromosomal problems. A woman’s body recognizes abnormal chromosomes in a fetus and naturally does not try to continue the pregnancy because the fetus will not develop into a normal, healthy baby. This can be caused by abnormal cell division, or poor quality sperm or egg.

The unborn child would have been Kris’ third and her second with husband and basketball star James Yap.

She gave to birth by caesarean section last year to James Jr. after a difficult pregnancy where she suffered heavy bleeding and had gestational diabetes.

James Jr. was a premature baby. Kris was said to be bracing again for another high-risk medical situation with her third pregnancy. Kris has a son, Joshua, with actor Philip Salvador.

Malacañang said President Arroyo is praying for Kris.

Cerge Remonde, director general of the Presidential Management Staff, in a text message, said: “The President prays for Kris, especially owing to the fact that she campaigned for her in the 2004 elections.”

  1. So the Dorobo is trying again to capitalize on these tragedies in the Aquino family?

Ang kapaaaaal! Parang si Kris Aquino pa ngayon ang may utang na loob sa kaniya for reportedly supporting her in the last election that the mother now awfully regrets they did.

Everything happens for a reason. For Cory’s followers, they look at it as a trial of her faith. If she doesn’t get to live long, then God may want to put her to rest free from the troubles of this world. For Kris Aquino’s fans, they think the same way like she does; that is, God allows this to happen so that she could focus her attention to her mom. On the other hand, the family’s detractors think differently. The Marcoses may think at it as God’s way of reminding Cory the injustice and power grab she did to the late Marcos. To the victims of Hacienda Luisita and the poor farmers killed in Mendiola, it’s “Karma” to them. To some of Erap’s fans on Kris, it could also be “Karma” for her active endorsement of Gloria Arroyo in the 2004 election. Kris received a flat P10M for her endorsement. But whatever one thinks, fan or not, we should pray for Cory’s recovery if only to neutralize the tremendous control the Arroyos have in the country today. The ZTE scam and Jun Lozada’s crusade must continue. More than ever, we need Cory’s support and leadership even in her sick bed.

To redeem themselves, the Aquino family should campaign against any of the administration candidates in 2010. For one thing, Senator Noynoy Aquino is now with the opposition. And if I were Kris, I would return the P10M endorsement fee paid to her by GMA. But in fairness to her, a portion of the money went to another TV host celebrity Boy Abunda. Shame on them!

  4. Off topic but this is nauseating:

    (From Inquirer)
MANILA, Philippines–Newly sworn Comelec chairman Jose Melo admits being reluctant to take on the post but said the murder Monday of a senior official of the poll body helped prod him to accept the job. with Video taken by INQUIRER.net reporter Erwin Oliva.

Dapat hindi niya tinanggap. Now he can be a suspect! 😛

  5. bitchevil bitchevil

Do you know the reason why he accepted it despite being turned down by the Committee on Appointment? He said he was motivated by the recent killing of one Comelec official in Manila. Gosh!

  6. Whadyaknow, but the murdered Comelec official could have been one of those who opposed Melo’s appointment. ¿Entonces qué se puede conjeturar de esto?

    Apparently, another kapalmuks. Walang delicadeza!

“The President prays for Kris, especially owing to the fact that she campaigned for her in the 2004 elections.”

Malacanang announcement is vindictive and deplorable. It shows selective prayer for self gratification on a person (Kris) who promoted only Arroyo’s self-interest. President Corazon Aquino who is suffering from colon cancer get more respects from foreigners than from her own countrymen.

  8. bitchevil bitchevil

Respect is gained not given. Does the country and current government respect the remains of the late Marcos who is not buried yet? Was Marcos worse than Arroyo? While we pray for Cory’s recovery since she’s now one with us in this fight against Arroyo, let’s also be reminded that Cory is not perfect like all of us. She too had her shortcomings and wrongdoings in the past. Why not ask her about Kamag-anak Inc.?

  9. d0d0ng d0d0ng

    Bitchevil,

In fairness to President Cory Aquino, she already earned the respect worldwide than most Filipinos can possibly understand. In fact, she was named TIME persons of the year in 1986. Cory with a murdered husband inherited a very distorted economy with 28 billion in USD debt (barely managed to pay interest let alone principal), ultra politicized military, elite controlled politics, entire generation of corrupted government. She was not expected to survive countless coups manipulated by Enrile, Laurel and the landowner elite. But she did after allowing the defective CARP pushed by the all powerful landowner elite. Blaming Cory and her family for the CARP? I don’t think so especially if you can size up all the powerful enemies who were not ready to give up their interests and control of the country (each family has a piece of the Philippine pie). All the world leaders knew how a plain struggling housewife tried very hard to fill a political shoe. It was compared to a suicide.

  10. bitchevil bitchevil

Lest that I be perceived as Marcos loyalist, I think every president claims and uses the same excuse to explain poor economy; that is, he or she inherited the huge debts from the past administration. It might be true for Marcos whose debts and kick backs shocked the world. But recently, Imelda was acquitted of almost all the charges. I believe that the ones who benefited most were Marcos cronies who are still very much active and powerful in business today. I can give two as example: Danding Cojuangco and Lucio Tan. The Marcoses are now even demanding that parts of Tan’s wealth and assets be returned to the Marcoses since Tan was allegedly used as dummy. Then Cory took over allegedly from a bankrupt treasurer. She was not exactly accurate in stating that for many of the Marcos projects were still in place. Many were beneficial to the people but Cory chose to cancel and throw these out of her sight. The Bataan Nuclear Plant was one that we could have benefited today had it been pursued. Do you know we’re still paying for its interest? Marcos then had a vision that the country would face energy problems years later and indeed it’s true. For Cory, anything identified with Marcos even if good was bad. Then came Ramos who was more concerned with his image abroad than the country’s welfare. We don’t need to mention the many anomalies in his administration. Then came Erap. I could compare Erap to Marcos simply because both did not actually benefited from the corruption but their cronies. For Erap, it was his trusted cronies like Chavit Singson who destroyed him. The finally this Gloria Arroyo who again used the same excuse of explaining the poor economy when she took over. After eight years and being an expert in economy as she bragged, where are we right now? Unlike the other presidents, the large scale corruptions directly benefited her and her family. From Telecom scandal up to this ZTE and Spratly deals, GMA and her spouse’s names are consistently implicated. We can say that Arroyo out performed all the past presidents combined in terms of corruptions and anomalies. But the question is…why is she always able to get away from all these? That question is the question of every Filipino.

  11. d0d0ng d0d0ng

In short, it is all corruptions. The point is, can Cory in 5 years (faced with the highest military coups, bankrupted economy, tightly controlled landholdings) turn back the 20 Marcosian years of corruptions. The answer is big NO. Not a chance. In fact, 2 presidential terms after Cory, we are still in square one – corruption and landholdings by the elite.

The July 1990 7.7 earthquake and the 1991 eruption of Mt. Pinatubo both during Aquino’s term reminded once again that Philippines is sitting on top ring of fire and help decide the safety issue to mothball the Bataan nuclear plant. The loan was fully paid on April 2007 with final payment of $15 million costing the Filipinos $1.06 billion USD.

  12. d0d0ng d0d0ng

The USD$1.06 billion Westinghouse loan on Bataan nuclear plant is a reminder that Marcos got his commission in Swiss accounts while the Filipinos paid for it. 2 decades later, nothing have changed. Estrada had his commission in plunder case. Arroyo is facing pocketed commission left and right with China deals.

  13. d0d0ng d0d0ng

We are witnessing a generation of Philippine presidents sworn into office by the commissions.

  14. bitchevil bitchevil

I don’t quite get your point, dOdOng. If you say it’s all about corruption and if you accept the fact that there are corruptions in all administrations, what’s the point of argument? Unless you’re here to justify Arroyo’s tons of corruption, then that’s another matter.

  15. d0d0ng d0d0ng

The Philippines has been run like fiefdoms by family dynasties. After all, Marcos had his cronies support while he was in power. The majority Filipinos had the chance when Marcos was removed from office. It quickly evaporated when family dynasties can do power play by getting elected and forged alliances with dominant party (giving the president security from impeachment while pork barrel flows). Unless, the people can take control of the legislature from family dynasties, the Filipinos maybe able to remove Arroyo but still end up with governance of corruptions between the house and next president who run the country.

  16. bitchevil bitchevil

Well, I agree with you on that. After Marcos, we thought we would have a clean and honest government under Cory; but her brother Peping was then Mike Arroyo’s counter part. I remember the fall guy, an old Congressman who was asked to admit ownership of those smuggled guns at the airport. The poor solon was jailed and died for Peping.

  17. ““The President prays for Kris, especially owing to the fact that she campaigned for her in the 2004 elections.””

How absolutely gory can the bitch in Malacanang be! So lacking in class! How can the bitch even allow that statement to be said formulated that way! Can’t believe it!

  18. It is just too bad really that Mrs. Aquino failed to make any really significant change in the government during her term. I remember the usual excuse then that she was a neophyte and was a plain housewife to really know how to run a government with the same cronies and creeps responsible for creating a Marcos.

Sure, they changed the Constitution, etc. when Marcos was removed from office. No thanks to the Americans. Frankly, I would prefer a real People Power FOR,OF and BY Filipinos ONLY.

What we see now in fact are the fruits of what were sown then during Mrs. Aquino’s reign. She can’t escape responsibility for that, and reason I guess why she has been active in the Oust GMA movement to make up for what she failed to achieve then, and now feel the gravity of her responsibility that must have contributed to her present health condition.

OK, it was not Mrs. Aquino’s fault that the Philippines has evolved a much worse regime than that of Marcos, but she had the rein of government then, and she could have tried harder, even just perhaps insist on finding out the truth about the assassination of her husband.

Hopefully, that, too, we will know someday the truth, that is, when the Philippines has better police and dedicated men who would know where to look. And the Philippines will no longer have judges of the court who could be bought!

  19. parasabayan parasabayan

When it rains it pours. The Aquino family is going through a lot right now.

Cory was tasked to clean up after the Marcoses’ mess. That was not easy at all. She may not have been perfect but she pulled through for years somehow. A tide over president. Tabako was worse and now the evil bitch is worst!

Are we cursed? What have the Filipinos done to deserve leaders like what we have so far?

  20. nelbar nelbar

  21. Mrivera Mrivera

who is this president praying for kris?

do we have an elected president? di ba mandarayang sinungaling na magnanakaw at walang kahihiyang makapal ang mukha ang nagsusumiksik sa malakanyang? presidente ba ‘yun?

  22. Merriam Pinstrand Merriam Pinstrand

very kawawa naman that ate kris. now she has a miscarriage. how kadiri naman to papogi you in malacanang with tita cory’s illness and ate kris miscarriage. the opposition will make puna to you for this, promise.

“Are we cursed? What have the Filipinos done to deserve leaders like what we have so far?”

    parasabayan,

believing a SHIT in gloria’s person will taste like a cake is the very reason why we are at this stage right now.

like what i’ve said in another thread, if this anger that everyone feels now shall be transformed into a united action, it would be more than enough to pull that scheming woman calling herself president out of the malakanyang palace.

sad to say we OFW’s cannot be physically present if a turn of events would take place but rest assured that we can and will tap our relatives to participate on our behalf.

Grizzy pointed out valid points about Cory Aquino. We all know that she’s a good and decent person. But as far as governance and as a leader, she failed. I also do remember her usual alibi that she’s not a politician and plain housewife. That’s her usual excuse when people criticized her at that time. In a way, she could not be faulted for being incompetent because she was not actually elected by the people but was selected or installed. I don’t think she wanted to be President at that time. People wanted to get rid of Marcos and they wanted her to replace him. In like manner, people wanted to get rid of Erap and installed GMA. But the difference between Cory and GMA is that Cory was not greedy while this GMA was very greedy and ambitious. Just imagine working and conspiring with anti-Erap forces when she was still in his cabinet.

Even the devil can protect his evilbitch from her enemies! Remember “The Exorcist?”

  26. bitchevil bitchevil

Let’s call for someone to exorcise the evil spirit inside Gloria’s body. If you listen to her tone of voice, it even sounds that of the devil.

  27. ebvmart ebvmart

Win some lose some,Cory succesfully topple the strongman and became a president but on her term she failed to irradicate or even lessen the corruption in our government, her education programs failed, she changed the medium of instruction from English to Filipino and now our students are not good on both. She failed to make peace with the leftist even though she releases Sison from the prison,She cannot make her family get together in harmony, shes stranged even to her cousin Danding.Shes a woman full of hatred and vengeance Ninoy assasins even they are old and sickly they are still languishing in jail. She refused Marcos to be buried and she never visited Ilocos Norte during her term, she refuses to extend her hands to the Marcoses for the sake of our nation unity

  28. ebvmart ebvmart

cont: and peace.During her term she cannot even work in harmony with her vice president that she even called him langaw.

  29. bitchevil bitchevil

I share your criticism of Cory, but let’s pray for her at this time when she’s undergoing chemo for her colon cancer. Even her most bitter political rival and enemy Imelda Marcos is praying for her. Please be reminded that Cory was a housewife. She was installed by those opportunists that included the church led by the late Cardinal Sin. She was not corrupt but her mistake was allowing her brother Peping to take advantage of her power in sulking tax payers’ money. Peping is the counterpart of Mike Arroyo.

  30. stycch stycch

What we need is a president who won’t be beholden to anybody but to the people and God, not to the oligarchs! Real social consciousness, genuine nationalism and political will to change for the common good are what our next leader should possess.

  31. bitchevil bitchevil

JIL’s Bro. Eddie Villanueva would have been a good President.

  32. BTW, there is going to be an INTER-FAITH PRAYER SERVICE for the healing of President Cory Aquino on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 – 6:00 PM at the Bro. Donato Center for the Performing Arts, La Salle Greenhills, Mandaluyong City. Iyong mga nangangati ang mga paa, punta kayo no matter what. Kung darating si Mrs. Aquino, pihado maraming luhang bubuhos diyan.

I guess, I’ll go to our temple then, myself. Makikisabay ng dasal more like. But prayers in our temple in fact get faster response kasi walang nagdarasal doon na may galit doon sa kadasal nila.

  33. bitchevil bitchevil

Prayer in your Temple is faster? I don’t get it. Is it Mormon Temple? Pardon me, but God hears our prayers from everyone or anywhere. I’m very curious to hear that prayers are faster in your Temple. If that’s the case, then we could all go to your Temple. The Interfaith prayers could be held in your Temple. This way, Cory Aquino could get well faster.

  34. bitchevil bitchevil

Since Kris Aquino’s name is mentioned here, I wonder if anyone knows she frequents casino. Not necessarily a gambling addict; but she plays a lot. She better watch out ’cause this might ruin her career and family. And do you still remember Gabby Concepcion? Why did it take him that long in America? He worked as a mortgage loan officer in California. With the current bad US economy and housing flop in the US, he could have decided to return to the Philippines to make money. Good decision. He’s one the finest actors.
