Francisco and Raymundo cases: examples of gross injustice

wfrancisco.JPGThe way the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of the Philippine National Police is handling the case of former Corporal Walter Francisco shows the danger of giving power to incompetent and insecure people. To cover up their inadequacies, they resort to wickedness.

The Q.C. Regional Trial Court has approved the release of Francisco on bail, who has been in detention for more almost four months. Until his transfer to the Quezon City jail last March 11, Francisco was held in solitary confinement at the ISAFP compound in Camp Aguinaldo.

Three alleged leaders of a shortlived uprising in 2003 have been ordered discharged from the service while two of their comrades were sentenced up to seven years and six months in prison after they were found “guilty beyond reasonable doubt” for violating the Articles of War.

Army First Lieutenants Lawrence San Juan, Nathaniel Rabonza, and Sonny Sarmiento were read their sentences during the promulgation of their case on Tuesday.

One of the tallest in the group at five feet, six inches was Arlene Orejana, a psychology graduate of UP. The fourth of five girls, she was born in General Santos City and studied at the Mindanao State University before entering UP….

When the class of 1997 arrived at Fort Del Pilar, they were received by second class cadets belonging to the class of 1995. Cadet Antonio Trillanes IV was in charge of indoctrinating the newcomers on the Honor System in the Academy. Arlene Orejana thought he was cute! Leave it to the women to notice these things even during times of stress and pressure.

Lack of stress therapy blamed for colonel’s suicide

by Victor Reyes

Col. Roberto Caldeo is the third soldier to commit suicide apparently from stress or trauma over a bloody assault on an Abu Sayyaf stronghold in Basilan in 2000.

This was disclosed yesterday by officers who were also involved in “Final Option,” an operation to rescue a priest and dozens of teachers and students taken hostage by the Abu Sayyaf.

A failing grade for Esperon

(I was not able to get photos in today’s hearing. I just asked for these photos from a relative of one of the detainees. Both photos were taken after the hearing. The first photo shows the Tanay-bound officers. In the second photo are officers detained at the ISAFP facility in Camp Aguinaldo.)

esperon-and-gloria.jpgOfficers linked to the alleged power grab attempt in February 2006 yesterday gave Armed Forces chief Gen. Hermogenes Esperon Jr., who is due to retire from the
service in two weeks, a failing grade as the military chief for close to two years.

“No one has brought more shame to the institution,” former Scout Ranger chief Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim said of Esperon in a handwritten statement issued at the sidelines of a court martial hearing against the accused officers inside Camp Aguinaldo.
