Hillary phobia

Poor Hillary Clinton. As America basks in the euphoria of having a first black presidential candidate, everybody wants her to disappear from the political landscape.

Actually American political commentators had been wanting her to quit months ago prompting her to tactlessly recall the assassination of Robert Kennedy. Last May 23 , Hillary defended her staying in the race despite Obama overcoming her earlier lead by recalling that her husband, Bill, did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June. She said she didn’t understand all those Clinton-quit-call and reminded everybody: “We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California.”

Of course, America and the world have not forgotten that shocking day on June 5, 1968 when an assassin with the same first and last name (Sirhan Sirhan) shot him dead in the kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. Kennedy was leaving the hotel after celebrating his victory in the California primary elections.

Kennedy’s assassination left the Democrat’s with Hubert Humprey who narrowly lost to the Republican’s Richard Nixon.

Hillary’s reference to Kennedy’s murder was bad taste and betrayed her unbridled ambition. It suggested that she was not discounting the assassination of Obama for her to clinch the Democrat’s nomination.

Now that Obama is the recognized Democratic presidential candidate
against the Republican’s John McCain, her name is being floated to be Obama’s running mate. Clinton’s camp she is open to the idea.

Filipino-Americans I’m corresponding with suspect that it’s still part of Clinton’s dream to return to the White House, this time as president. They cite a seer’s warning that Obama would be a target of an assassination attempt. A frequent visitor in my blog that goes by the name of Bitchevil commented, “Don’t laugh now but my fear
Obama might be assassinated and Clinton would succeed him.”

Even the redoubtable Maureen Dowd of the New York Times said it’s in Hillary’s scheme. In her biting column “She is still here!”, she talks of the Clintons’ “Bad stuff happens maneuver.”

Dowd said the maneuver is “exemplified in her gaffe about the R.F.K. assassination, that she figures that at least if she moves a few blocks from Embassy Row to the Naval
Observatory, she’ll be a heartbeat away from the job she’s always wanted.”

But political observers who have closely followed what has been described as the hardest fought campaign for a Democratic presidential nomination, it is doubtful that Obama would pick Clinton as his vice president because the two have no chemistry.

Newsweek’s Howard Fineman wrote about a Kabuki play going on between Obama and Clinton’s camps: “Here is what I hear, on very good authority, from two sources close to
the Clintons who also have strong ties to the Obama campaign: Clinton absolutely does not want the job of vice president, no matter what others are saying about it. Been there, done that in a very real sense, as First Lady. Obama, for his part, does not want her to be his vice-presidential nominee. No way. Neither do any of his major donors, supporters and advisers, say the sources, who asked for anonymity discussing sensitive matters.

“But there is talk that Obama will tentatively offer, or make some kind of gesture in that direction, the VP slot to Hillary, but only, only on the understanding that she promise in advance (through intermediaries if not directly) not to accept! “She doesn’t want it
and would not take it,” said one source very close to her. “But she would like to be asked, and that is the Kabuki theater we are about to engage in.”

Seventeen months ago, when the campaign started, she looked indestructible and headed straight back to the White House. Her loss is a lesson that in politics or in life, nothing is absolutely sure.

I have a soft spot for underdogs. I’m glad Obama won the Democratic nomination. I hope he goes on to be the U.S. president.

“I’m glad Obama won the Democratic nomination. I hope he goes on to be the U.S. president.” Barack Hussein Obama surely will make history, first black president of USA. Americans ready for Black president? I guess we’ll know the answer in November.

    .

  2. It’s a long winding road journey for Obama to the White House,Although,He gain the Democratic nomination by winning intellectual centers, black voters and just enough whites to beat a deeply flawed Hillary Clinton. This is not a winning coalition. It is, in fact, a recipe for disaster against John McCain. The black vote counts for a far greater percentage in the Democratic primaries than it does in the general election; McCain can lose virtually the entire black vote and still win handily.

McCain will do far better among whites than Hillary did. Obama cut especially into Clinton’s main base of support — whites — McCain is far more appealing to white than Clinton. If Obama could not win the white running against Clinton, how can he hope to beat that McCain?

And then there’s the Hispanic vote. For a Democrat, Obama is shockingly unpopular among Hispanics — McCain, by contrast, is incredibly popular among Hispanics — he routinely wins the Hispanic vote in his Arizona Senate contests. Such percentages will not translate directly to the general election, of course — there are more registered Hispanic Democrats than Hispanic Republicans. But those percentages bode ill for Obama, who will struggle to overcome racial barriers, as well as an immigration-friendly Republican like McCain, who also shares many family values with Hispanic Catholics.Obama’s association with Jeremiah Wright will not win him additional white votes; his elitism will not win him additional lower-class votes; his racial appeal does not have the same appeal to Hispanic voters. This leaves McCain in the unexpected position of November front-runner.

I will vote for McCain.Obama experienced in politics is very short. Long term relationships with other politicians has not been established except too many existing doubts on his real credibility. Inpexeprience in war and foreign affairs. He is currently managing an economic region compared to New York city alone, San Francisco or LA. He is not experienced yet of how the wholecountry can be managed. At least McCain is way ahead of him. He’s been there done that except when he becomePresident, he only needs to implement what congress accept and allow. In comparison to Obama, some white folks in the Congress may still prefer to work with team… White team.
Goodluck to Obama.. I’m not ready for him. What good can he do if he keeps talking about ” Change” . What changes in political structure he is talking about? The US system is pretty much set. US is now facing the challenge of globalization.Obama is only good on his region. That’s all there is to it.

  4. asiandelight,
I am a hardliner Democrat, but, this time, We are voting for Mc Cain.Anyway, let me tell you that my blog is Cocoy’s Delight.I agree with you, that Obama is inexperience in foreign policies and I could not put my trust on the safety of my children on his hands if he could not handle the terrorist who want to harm America.

While Obama is talking about his “change”,the biggest national sponsor of terrorism in the world,Iran is moving step by step toward building a nuclear bomb.

The point when they get that bomb will be the point of no return. Iran’s nuclear bomb will be the terrorists’ nuclear bomb– and they can make 9/11 look like child’s play. All the options that are on the table right now will be swept off the table forever.Obama’s choices will be to give in to whatever the terrorists demand, however outrageous those demands might be or to risk seeing American cities start disappearing in radioactive mushroom clouds.

All the things we are preoccupied with today, from the price of gasoline to health care to global warming, will suddenly no longer matter. McCain has been criticized as Bush followers many times. But, when all is said and done, Senator McCain has not spent decades aiding and abetting people who hate America. On the contrary, he has paid a huge price for resisting America’s enemies, even when they held him prisoner and tortured him.

    Cocoy,

Joke only…I’ve already said before in your blog that I’m going Mac Cain if Hilary is not nominated. I feel secure with Mac Cain than Barack. I’m not a fan of generalities, I like particulars.

  6. sioktong sioktong

I think McCain will take the current Secretary of State Condolezza Rice as his VP to somewhat offset the appeal of Barrack Obama from the black folks.

  7. Chi,
I am having hard time logging in.
Obama’s stand on military is weak.In History,a weak military is a weak country.America’s security defends on military.U.S.Troops sacrifices their limb and souls abroad to keep it’s citizen safe at home.Obama’s brash omission of servicemen and women shouldn’t be a surprise. After all, this is the man who stated,”We ended up launching a war (in Iraq) that should have never been authorized and should have never been waged, and to which we have now spent $400 billion and has seen over 3,000 lives of the bravest young Americans wasted.” This is the man who, remarked, “We’ve got to get the job done [in Afghanistan] and that requires us to have enough troops so that we’re not just air-raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous pressure over there.” He is the man who actually ran a campaign ad bragging, “I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending. I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems. I will not weaponize space. I will slow our development of future combat systems. I will institute an independent Defense Priorities Board to ensure that the Quadrennial Defense Review is not used to justify unnecessary defense spending … I will set a goal for a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal: I will not develop nuclear weapons.”

Obama is running for commander in chief of our armed forces. Yet these are not the comments of a prospective commander in chief — they are the comments of a man who believes that the American military is a force for darkness in the world. They are the comments of a man who believes that deterrence does not matter, that our enemies are kindhearted folks looking to compromise, that military spending is provocative and disarmament proactive. They are the comments of a pacifist.

Obama should be ashamed of himself. The men and women he may one day command are the same men and women who protect him each and every day. And no matter how many flag pins he puts on his lapels, no matter how many stars and stripes he plasters behind himself at speeches, his disgust for the military is an open blemish on his patriotic pretenses.

Men and women in uniform will be disgrace. This is the reason why I would rather want to see Americans put Mc Cain ass in the White House.

if there was a clinton phobia, there is a much stronger bush phobia and mccain must work very hard to fight it. likewise he must fight his own age and should submit to physical exams quite often. one should therefore be more critical of his vp choice. i think it is more probable that he cannot withstand the gruelling campaign that obama is planning than that obama will be assasinated. it will not help him with another black as vp if ever any of them will be willing. condy is surely not campaigning against obama.it could be more interesting if he choose a hispanic.

  11. dizonlea dizonlea

I think Clinton would serve better to the Filipino needs whether it be legal or illegal Filipino immigrant. As for Obama, he will protect the rights of the american blacks first in terms of jobs etc and that doesn’t spells good for the Filipinos.

  12. Eggplant Eggplant

America is not yet ready to receive a female President. Obama’s winning is one way to insure no woman will be the next US President. Who knows some Republicans maybe behind Obama’s winning? I may sound ridiculous on this but I am not alone in this perception. Between Hillary and McCain, the lady senator has and edge. Now the Republican bet will have better chances of winning. This explains why many of Obama’s supporters are craving hard for Hillary to be his running mate. Hillary’s vote is crucial for Obama’s chances of winning. But die hard democrats souring on Hillary’s defeat may eventually secure victory for McCain.

I’m having a hard time logging in, too.

I agree with your views on Barack’s military stand. We are democrats here. In fact, I almost change my mind on ‘going McCain if Hilary is not nominated’ until Barack opened his mouth about foreign policies and military issues.

Obama is a grandiloquent speaker (like many of the blacks) who can spark a stadium with his dribbles while Mac Cain is comfortable with a barangay type of communication. I prefer the latter, walang paikot-ikot at iwas pusoy sa isyu. That’s what like in Hilary, head on and particularly clear and passionate on issues and can relate with the working class.

  16. chi chi

    Eggplant and Sioktong,

I don’t have problems with a colored president, isyus lang talaga ang sa akin. If Condi Rice will become Mac Cain’s running mate, that’ll be the best choice.

But Obama will have a difficult time getting votes of the Appalachian whites (men, women, youngs and blue collar workers) even if Hilary endorses him. Mas gusto pa nila dito ang asians (due to war relations) and latinos (due to their warm nature) than blacks. In this area, Obama really needs Hilary’s help to woe the whites.

You think Filipinos are not racists themselves? You can ask an American journalist here in Tokyo who has written travel books on the Philippines. He is Afro-American with brown skin like Obama, but he told me he had never felt such racial discrimination in USA as he had been subjected to in the Philippines. Worse, he said, was when someone advised him to pretend as one of the native Baluga!!! :-O

There’s no doubt, he is an eloquent speaker – product nga naman ng Harvard. To be a POW for 5 years living in hell like a character in one of Rambo’s movies and becoming a political icon in Arizona and the US senate, McCain has the experience and the character to lead America and continue its fight against terrorism and evil. Marami pang mga leader ngayon sa buong mundo na may masasamang hangarin and considered to be a threat to democracy. Sa akin paningin si McCain is the answer.
What I expect this November is that American voters will not allow a black guy like Obama to take over the White House. Let’s accept it, and you have to know this, most of those voting for Obama are the minority blacks, disgruntled Republicans, and a few die hard white democrats who are just loyal to their party but for McCain? Majority of white America, the traditionalist, conservatives, the KKK, the cultist groups, Hispanics, Asians, Europeans, and the most powerful group, the Jews.

But coming from Filipinos, nakakatayo ng balahibo! Definitely, Hillary did not help lessen the prevalent racial discrimination against blacks with her inuendoes. Tapos ngayon nagpapapel siya.

I joined the Obama campaign because I wanted to know more about him. He did not disappoint me. Is that unusual? Not that he is good but he must be in league with the devil!!!

If McCain does not choose Romney for a partner, he will surely lose majority of Utah vote. Iyon na lang in fact ang natitirang matatag na Republican I am told. Michelle Obama, I heard, wowed the Utahns when she went there. Masarap makipaghuntahan sa mga leftist Americans (no pinoy) sa USA as a matter of fact. I am so happy that Obama will be the Presidential candidate for the Democrats. I would not be happy, though, if he take Hillary as his VP. Hillary will not represent the “Change we can believe in” of Obama. Hillary, in my opinion, represents “trapo.”

America needs to change. Being the Super Power, the US should take the lead in change, HOPEFULLY, the rest of the world will follow – like the Philippines. We sure as hell need a change. A “Change we can believe in”.

  29. Thanks Atty. for the lead on Opera browser. I’m trying it now, and see if my virus buster will find trojans, spywares, etc. when blogging at Ellen’s. I was using another one, not Firefox, and my computer has become spyware-free, but it was slow. This Opera seems to work fine. Salamat!

Ditto. I feel the same way. I like what I hear Obama says. He is not being unpatriotic when he says he is willing to talk with leaders like the leader of Iran, et al. He is in fact being practical especially when he says that image of hateful America needs to be changed. I second his motion.

  34. What’s up now with Loida Lewis that her candidate, Hillary, lost?

  35. eddfajardo eddfajardo

Well, that was another exposure on the part of Loida Nicolas-Lewis. I was a witness how Loida was treated well and idolized by Hillary as an emerging Asian-American political figure. At one time, I heard Hillary talking about Loida that if she will make it to the White House she will never forget what Loida had contributed to her campaign. Very proud ako to hear that kind of word from Hillary despite my political affiliation with the Republicans. Si Loida, down to earth ito at truly may ibubuga not to mention na siya yata ang pinakamayaman na Filipino dito sa America ngayon. Para sa kaalaman ng lahat, she owns Beatrice International, a food conglomerate, pinamana ito sa kanya ng kanyang nasirang asawa na businessman at abugado rin katulad niya. Ang asset nito as of 1995 according to Filipino Reporter sa New York, was around $1.5 billion.

McCain’s claim that he is strong in national security is an insult to the intelligence to the electorate.A strong country must have a strong economy.
McCain’s claim that he is a hero is doubletalk. He is a war veteran, not a hero. Did he ever lead any combat feat, like the Charge of the Light Brigage? He posted his picture as a POW in Vietnam … that is self-pity. Who wants a CIC waxing self-piteously?

  45. parasabayan parasabayan

For being a world leader, the US should have the best military organization. Obama can not compromise this by his soft stand on nuclear policies, etc. Peace talks are good but there should be weapons to back them up. McCain knows this pretty well, having been a POW.

The choice of the vice presidents will be very critical to both candidates.

Obama won because the youth came out and voted for him. But the youth are still naive on the dangers of terrorism that is very much alive throughout the world.

Most of those who rallied behind Hillary will definitely go for McCain. Let us face it, race is still very much an issue in the US!

It will be a big challenge for Obama to win the presidency. McCain has some charisma inspite of his age.

  47. kejotee kejotee

PSB, you are parroting Hillary’s line the Obama is NAIVE and INEXPERIENCED. The voters did not believe her because she is INAUTHENTIC. Now she is scared of her own commercial: She won’t answer that 3 am call because she knows those are loan sharks.

  48. kejotee kejotee

MCain has charisma??? You must be kidding, PSB. McCain talks very lethargically, parang tulog na manteca. And he has many senior moments. He will be senile even before he finish his first term… therefore sayang ang boto mo para sa kanya.

  49. kejotee,
Obama is a flip-flop and I could not put my trust to a man who could not make up his mind, even his fellow Democrat could not trust him.If you look at what Obama’s positions are they are directly out of the Marxist playbook. Very few people realize that his political mentor is an admitted Marxist and Obama holds many of the same values. I just hope that the American people wake up and find an understanding just who this man really is before November’s election. This man is scary and is bad news for the United States. The media has done everything possible to shield Obama from any scrutiny and it is time to pull back the curtains.

Read OBAMA’s book the man is a marxist out of his own mouth. He could also be considered a socialist as well by some of his other far left ideas. Either way those views are Anti-American. Period. We are a capitalist federalist society. What change Obama is talking about? We have been for over 2oo years! Me, I want to stay on top of the world and have my rights stay as they are and not changed to meet the politically correct nonsense we have to live in. I have seen much of the world and I can tell you that the USA is the best place to live. At this point I would rather die than vote for a Liberal.I have had too many friends die in combat for our flag to dishonor them.

  50. PSB,

It does not mean that because McCain was a POW, he is reall very fit. I have a cousin who was POW in Vietnam. He was in the USAF, drafted when he was 18. I don’t know if he was really that fit to be in the Air Force. When he came, he was nerve wreck even now.

When he is OK, though, he builds and reforms houses.

The other brother served in the US Navy but did not go to battle as he was assigned in the shipyard repairing ships. Medyo may tama din! 😛

After Vietnam, kasi sino yata basta mahilig makipagbarilan, OK pumasok.

  52. ….When he came back….

  53. I’ll give Obama the benefit of the doubt. With all the negativism against Afro-Americans, et al., he surely will try to prove himself par excellence.

  54. Chi,

In fact, nagpunta si Bush sa Salt Lake City just a week or two ago trying to ask I guess leaders of our church to give Romney the blessing. Sabi naman ng head ng simbahan namin, wala silang pakialam sa politika although I understand Michelle Obama wowed them all in SLC during her visit there.

Puro dye in the wool Republicans ang karamihan sa kanila, but from what I have observed maraming nag-volunteer sa kanila sa Obama campaign when Romney dropped out of the race for the presidency.

Ewan ko kung tatanggapin ni Romney ang offer for him to run as VP not that he is sourgraping pero alam naman niya siguro ang sentiments ng mga pakiramdam nila niloko sila ni Dubya sa Iraq!!! Iyong mga first casualties in Iraq were actually members of our church tapos nalaman nilang wala palang weapons of mass destruction na ikinatwiran ni Dubya. Sinungaling din ang ungas sa totoo lang!!!

Obama quits Chicago church steeped in controversy —–Yahoo!® News

By TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer

Sun Jun 1, 2:37 PM ET

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Barack Obama said Saturday he has resigned his 20-year membership in the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago “with some sadness” in the aftermath of inflammatory remarks by his longtime pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and more recent fiery remarks at the church by a visiting priest.

  61. parasabayan parasabayan

Tongue, whether the Philippines like it or not, the US presidency is as important as the Philippine pesidency. Let us face it, the US is our biggest ally and biggest investor, and may even be our biggest donor for military aids and all other aids.

    *****

Sinabi mo pa. Pero si McCain, no way because he is likely to be just an extension of Bush who failed to push his own brother to take over from him and his father, the older Bush. God willing, the world will have a respite from these warmongers! At the moment, running out of supply yata sila kaya pinag-iinitan iyong mga Iranians, et al na puedeng mag-take over sa kanila.

  65. Very impassioned, indeed. You must be referring to the pastor/mentor of Obama… directly imputing guilt by association. That is a very narrow-minded way of looking at the world. Can’t you distinguish the difference between message and messenger? tsk, tsk tsk….—Kejotte

What message exactly Obama is preaching?
Obama’s record of accomplishment is slim. He served two terms in the Illinois legislature, where he did almost nothing to distinguish himself. He won his race for the U.S. Senate after the first Republican nominee had to resign over a personal scandal and the second nominee was a two-time losing senatorial candidate from another state. He has spent nearly half his time as a U.S. Senator running for president and has scant legislative achievements to his credit.

What Obama does have is a sharp mind, a gift for inspiring rhetoric, and a talent for raising lots of money. But he also has a propensity to choose his friends and allies poorly and to be unwilling to extricate himself when those relationships turn troubling. The Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s racist and anti-American diatribes will continue to haunt Obama, who said he could no more disown Wright than he could his white grandmother, whom he blamed for occasionally uttering racially insensitive remarks. His wife is not even proud to be an American. But Obama’s relationship to William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, members of the 1960s domestic terrorist group the Weather Underground, may prove more vexing yet. The Weather Underground bombed the Capitol, the Pentagon, and New York City police headquarters in the 1970s, and Ayers claimed to have personally participated in the bombings.Ayers and Dohrn threw a fundraiser for Obama in 1995 as he began his political career, and Obama and Ayers served on a left-wing charity board together for a number of years and remain friends. It is clear from Ayers’ memoir, “Fugitive Days,” why Ayers would be attracted to almost any young black politician on the left; it is far from clear, however, why Obama would find Ayers an appealing ally.

Yet this is a man you want to be the president of the United States.Weak on foreign policies and who want to embrace a terrorist that to stand against them.

  66. I’ll give Obama the benefit of the doubt. With all the negativism against Afro-Americans, et al., he surely will try to prove himself par excellence.—-grizzy

You may be willing to give Obama the benefit of the doubt.I am not.A far more plausible explanation is that Obama took the position that would expect from him.Just as it never occurred to him that his pastor would be an albatross in a national election, it never dawned on him that he should take a stance other than the one expected of anyone on the far left of the Democratic Party. This doesn’t necessarily obviate Obama’s bragging rights.A wise leader with no experience is preferable to a moron with plenty. Of course, that’s rarely the choice we actually face.

My argument is that experience yields good judgment. The battle-scarred soldier, the trial-tested lawyer, the accomplished surgeon — these people tend to have better judgment precisely because they’ve clocked a lot of field time. That’s McCain’s contention. He’s walked through the fire and learned valuable lessons as a result.

Obama may indeed sound rhetoric, but his record shows little experience employing it.

  67. Ellen,
BTW, a new Dell desktop could also cost as low as $500 when in promo.

    Rose,
The Americans may not be ready for Rice. But here in the Philippines where there is a crsis, we definitely need RICE.

    Cocoy,
McCain could actually be the key to Middle East peace. During his youth, he fought side-by-side with Saladin and he also helped Moses to cross the Red Sea, didn’t he? Hehehe.

  68. kejotee kejotee

Cocoy, I am sure you knew Gloria inside and out. Will that qualify you to be as guilty sa mga katarantadohan na ginawa niya, even if you do not subscribe or approve of her kurakot?

  69. zen2 zen2

Obama has declared long ago that McCain is a genuine American hero, the latter, having served in Vietnam–a war, an embarrassing war, that put an end, or rather the beginning of an end, to America’s ascendancy of high moral grounds.

Looking at it now, what did the war accomplished?

should be interesting to hear what ‘Democrat hardliners’ (opting for Hillary) would say: just now, Clinton, in unequivocal terms, endorses Obama for President.

  71. Tongue: a new Dell desktop could also cost as low as $500 when in promo

I bought a new computer for less than 500 USD from DELL, 250 GB ang hard disk. I also bought a laptop kasi akala ko malapit nang mag-give up iyong Panasonic Let’s Note ko, pero ang tibay. I’ve been using it since 2003 pero OK pa rin.

You are right tongue, if McCain can remember. It seems like cocoy’s hero is ready to go gentle into that goodnight.

  73. sioktong sioktong

Ramon Magsaysay.

In short, hindi pa rin naaalis ang racial discrimination sa kanila that makes the Americans hypocrites in fact when they tell other people to embrace democracy and equality to all! Umpisahan muna nila sa sarili nila as a matter of fact.

But the truth is I have observed that in the past few years, more and more Africans are getting more opportunities for example to get educated and become professionals that a lot of them can now afford to buy homes and be independent economically speaking.

Tatanggapin ko iyong invitation ko to be there at his inauguration. Sasama ako doon sa mga residents ng Obama City dito who are volunteering to do a Japanese folk dance sa inauguration niya. I bet marami ring kumbidadong Indonesian, Christians and Moslems alike.

Serious ang mukha pero may sense of humor din as when someone called him “Obama Bin Laden,” mabilis ang sagot niya, “He is another guy because I am not a Bin Laden!” Yehey!

BTW, Barack’s name is Kenyan. His full name is “Barack Hussein Obama, Jr.” May nagsabi yata sa kaniyang huwag gamitin iyong Hussein gawa ng maraming tanga sa Tate na baka isiping anak siya ni Sadam Hussein! Gago talaga!

  76. I agree with a lot many of the pundits now saying this and that about what Clinton could have done. I’ve never been a Clinton fan as a matter of fact, but I thought she was more than bitchy from day one the nomination campaign got on the way.

Nakita tuloy ang natural niya that they now deny is her natural self. Ibang-iba pa rin si Maggie Thatcher that I had the chance to observe when I was a student in UK, but then of course, I could be bias to a fellow Oxonian but to Bill Clinton, another Oxford U alumnus.

I’ve been a supporter of John Kerry, though, and it was his office that invited me to the Obama political campaign from as early as January this year.

“Why not?” I thought. I lose nothing anyway. I knew about the Filipino prejudice against the Afro-Americans so I did not bother asking my Democrat relatives to vote for Obama. Then, I joined a group of left-leaning members of our church online where I could have a healthy exchange with them on US politics, and have observed the willingness of many to take up Obama’s challenge for change. Nakakabuhay ng loob, especially when they discuss matters in the context of principles taught in our church. It’s definitely encouraging.

I pray that Obama will win especially with Clinton now endorsing him. Then, I can sing “America the Beautiful” again with feeling!

  77. sioktong sioktong

  78. kejotee,
What are you trying to imply on your argument, why are you trying to impute me to Gloria as an accomplished on what she’s doing,First you called me narrow minded, now why i am guilty of her sin,do you have something better substance to offer with argument. In fact you are also as guilty of age discrimination in calling Mc Cain senile as guilty as race discrimination.

Why are you so fixated on race? Obama tried to run his campaign without ever drawing attention to the fact that he is black. Elections should be a color-blind process. It’s amazing to me that you think Obama can deliver all these things when he’s never delivered anything before. Not that these things are exactly good for America in the first place.

On Iran, He say he will use diplomacy first. What do you think has been going on for the past eight years with Iran through the UN and through the Bush administration. Diplomacy? Bush is a great diplomat. Look what he has accomplished in N. Korea, the US was able to bring the Chinese in to bring pressure on N. Korea to cease nuclear weapon R & D. Also in Iraq, how many years of diplomacy and UN resolutions were there before military action was taken? Diplomacy with no fear of reprisal is a diplomacy that nobody will respect.

Black or white, Obama has absolutely no experience to be POTUS. Maybe he should run for governor somewhere to gain the experience that the person sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office must have.

Next time present your fact on the table and convince me,why Obama is capable to do the job,not acting like a spoiled brat.

  79. sioktong sioktong

South Asia, Jeddah-Dubai-Teheran, India-Pakistan, Burma, ASEAN, Eastern Europe, Minsk-Belarus, Trans-Atlantic, North Africa, South America at ASIA PACIFIC.

  82. Just sharing some opinions from White Americans:
    Re: Civility

To me respect for someone must be earned if they want it from me… Let’s face it most people could not care less if I respect them or no..

There is nothing Bush could do to ever earn my respect and the same goes for McCain.

I have a battle going on in my mind between which two sayings I want on my gravestone..

    Karolyn

  83. Civility? As if Obama and his community organizer hit people have not been constantly beating up on McCain, deceitfully attaching McCain’s name to Bush’s at every opportunity and attacking McCain’s age and so forth. These tactics, while perhaps expressed in a civil tone, are anything but the type of campaign Obama claims he and the name of “change” stand for. Again, he does precisely that which he claims is a part of the old system he will change.

Speaking of names, Obama’s followers attack anyone who cites his middle name “Hussein”, again charging a lack of civility and even racism for suggesting Obama is Muslim. As far back as Cassius Clay, blacks have changed their names to Arab-Islamic ones precisely to demonstrate that they are Muslims. Obama’s given name makes clear that he was a Muslim at least at birth. He certainly realized the significance of his name when, in his younger years he changed and went by “Barry.” If he so wants to dispel any issue today, he is free to change his name again to Barry rather than holding the rest of the world responsible for ignoring and overlooking the obvious.

  84. Although Obama has renounced his childhood Muslim religion and joined the Christian religion. Which by the way makes him an apostate in the eyes of all Muslims. He feel that American troops should immediately withdraw from Iraq.Obama has even promised that if he is elected President he will have all troops out of Iraq by the end of 2008! A sure prescription for a massacre of those waiting to be evacuated last.

Perhaps Obama is pandering to the Leftist political organisations such as The National Peace foundation, and other groups who want to see the United States military strength weakened. What ever his opposition to the Iraq war is will remain in his heart and mind. But his solution to the Iranian quest for nuclear arms is based on just Talking to them. Perhaps Ahmadinejad and the Iranian Mullahs will stop production and dismantle their nuclear program if Obama is elected President. He is dreaming!

Hi Gabriela, the republicans are full of themselves with their narcissism. Bush and McCain are of the mistaken notion that the prestige of the White House will rub on their opponents if they talk with them. In other words, diplomacy is a beauty enhancing attempt of other countries to make them look good whenever the White House recognizes them. This is a puerile outlook of the world which McCain unabashedly trumpets on the rooftops.

  93. Nelbar:

Thanks for mentioning Perot.

Maraming kurakot doon for as long as the brother of Bush is the governor there.

If that is not telling something, what is?

That is his body language.

it is really not easy to see beyond color and that is why i agree with gabriela that the democrats can be admired just by sticking to the rules though that would mean a black as standard bearer. americans ought to be proud as a result. i donot think it is possible in europe today what happened in the usa.women have already proved in europe that they can be as good(or as bad) as white men in leading a country.pinoys have a lot of experience already, so much that if one should not look beyond gender, we ought not to have a woman again as president.obama proved that ability has no color as many have proved before that ability has no gender.
