The US junket

Correction: Iloilo Rep. Arthur Defensor is not with Arroyo in the U.S.

The Inquirer reported that Defensor cancelled his trip to Europe to attend to oversee the rehabilitation of his district (3rd) which was badly hit by typhoon “Frank”. My apologies.

While thousands of our countrymen are pre-occupied with coping with deaths and devastation left by typhoon “Frank,” members of Gloria Arroyo’s entourage are busy posing for souvenir photos with American officials.

A member of Arroyo’s delegation relates a comical incident at the photo session after the meeting of Arroyo with Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte. Other officials in that meeting were Ambassador Kristie Kenny, Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo and Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro.

The source said the background was the George Washington monument. Just when the photographer was about to click the camera, Press Secretary Jesus Dureza made a dash in front and inserted himself between Romulo and Teodoro.

“Everyone was shocked and upset but they couldn’t do anything about it,” the source said.

Dureza should be forgiven because he is barely a month in his position. He also doesn’t know how long he will be enjoying that privileged life.

Wonder why that particular photo was not included among those released by Malacañang. Dureza must be disappointed.

The House of Representatives has classified as “state secret” the list of one-fourth its members (65) in the latest Arroyo junket.

House Speaker Prospero Nograles defends the trip of his fellow congressmen saying they are on recess and that they were spending their own money. My foor! Tell that to the Marines.

During the time of President Ramos, the legislative department is represented only by at most, four legilators- two conressmen and two senators.

A senator who is with Arroyo in the U.S. is Miriam Defensor- Santiago from Iloilo, the province hardest hit by typhoon Frank.

Arroyo and santuiago have more important concerns than the plight of the Ilonggos, Arroyo will host a dinner the permanent representatives to the United Nations whom she will try to convince to vote for Santiago to the International Court of Justice.

By the way, a foreign service official told me that the reason they are pursuing the campaign for Santiago for the ICJ seat is because they are afraid that if she doesn’t go to The Hague, she might be appointed foreign affairs secretary.

***

My friend who was watching the shrieking Arroyo bawl out Vice Admiral Wilfredo Tamayo, Philippine Coast Guard commandant, why MV Princess of Stars was allowed to sail despite the typhoon signal (because there’s no prohibition for huge vessels under the current typhoon doctrine) was shouting back at the TV screen, “How about you, why did you leave? There was a typhoon warning when you left.”

The bawling out of Tamayo live on TV was not the first time that Arroyo did it. She did it to Edgardo Manda at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. She also did it to then Labor Secretary Pat Sto. Tomas, and Education Secretary Fe Hidalgo.

A blogger, Klingon, said Arroyo seems to think that by insisting on knowing why the ship was allowed to sail she could establish three things: 1) she cares enough to find out; 2) she is on top of the situation and in command; and 3) she doesn’t have to come home because she is handling it.

Klingon added: “The length and breadth of her kleptocracy has already established that she doesn’t care about anyone outside of her own skin, she has never been in command except for the amount of money she has control over, and she can’t handle it. But it’s okay by me if she doesn’t come home at all.”

Yesterday, Washington Post had a full page ad welcoming Vietnam Prime Minister to Washington.

Today, with GMA scheduled to meet with Bush, the Post has a 3/4 page story on ferry sinking in the Philippines!

Very insensitive, heartless, cruel…this is how we describe this evil woman in Malacanang. I might tolerate her if she brought a small entourage to the US; but not her family members and many of her allies who are there mainly to watch the coming Pacquiao-Diaz fight. While the recent typhoon and tragedy resulted in so much sufferings of the people, there go those rich politicians placing thousands of dollars in the coming boxing match. As usual, the group of Pidal and Singson are there cheering and betting all their hearts out while back home we’re all worried about the victims.

Why has “The House of Representatives..classified as “state secret” the list of one-fourth its members (65) in the latest Arroyo junket” ?

Are they afraid of their people’s wrath ?

“Yesterday, Washington Post had a full page ad welcoming Vietnam Prime Minister to Washington.

    A heartless, no-care, wanna-be President deserves that !

Only 24 of the 59 members of the House of Representatives traveling or meeting up with President Arroyo in Washington or New York have the appropriate “travel authority” (TA).

House sources said more than 70 congressmen asked for TA to be with the presidential entourage, but only 24 were given TAs.

The House has not released an official list of its members traveling with the President.

  7. Gloria Dorobo wants Brenda to be at the ICJ for her own benefit as a matter of fact, kind of taking enough precaution that all accusations against her now and in the future will be ignored and dumped with Brenda as judge there. Hopefully, those the bitch will invite will be wise enough to see through the vain and crazy Brenda and her patron.

The Mugabe style of Gloria the Evil Bitch should be good reason enough for everyone to stay away from her as a matter of fact. Belosi for instance must have felt stupid being decorated by the Midget. Yuck!

Just as predicted, namamalimos ang walanghiyang illegal na presidente! While she and her dogs are spending our money for their trip, ironically, she is begging the US for anti-terrorism and food aid. Kitam, now we see the motive behind the kidnapping of Ces. Konting drama lang before she leaves for the US para maawa si Dubya!

  9. If I were Pacquiao, I would tell all these congressmen and secretaries, okay, include Gloria, to leave on the next flight home. If he does it on international news, he will get my respect and admiration.

Maybe this is Lagdameo’s wake up call! But hell no! Bishops like him will never have any wake up call! Tama ka Rose, pagbalik ni bansot, bibigyan niya ng sako sakong dolyar si Lagdameo and everything will be fine and dandy.

  20. Expected Malacanang Palace Press Release After the Pacquiao Fight This Coming Saturday

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and the whole presidential party in the U.S. expressed jubilation over Manny Pacquiao’s boxing victory against Diaz in Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay.

Mrs Arroyo was quoted as saying that Pacquiao will serve as an inspiration to our countrymen who suffered from the adverse effects of typhoon “Frank” . She said Pacquiao was the “embodiment of every poor Filipino’s aspiration of rising from the rut.”

Mrs Arroyo said Pacman also symbolized “those who have emerged victorious in their struggles against the cruelty of nature and man”.

Speaker Nograles and his 58 congressmen were also among the spectators who joined the First Gentleman , his brother and other presidential in-laws in watching the boxing fight in Las Vegas.

The Speaker justified their stay in the United States despite the desperate situation in the provinces due to the recent typhoon.

“The fighting faith of Manny Pacquiao is the fighting faith of the Filipino – the dream of victory after victory in the firmament of world competition. We must keep up the fight and win in all fronts – in physical prowess, in the excellence of our skills, in the will to overcome the foes of poverty and injustice and the force of nature,” said Speaker Nograles in a statement.

He said Pacquiao “stands for the many dreams of every Filipino in the ring of life and the arena of the future. We had to be with Manny to give him moral support in this very critical fight.I am sure our people understood why we ,the 59 congressmen, had to stay behind in the U.S. in this critical time.”

i hope it will not die down… this is our government’s opportunity to take over this shipping company and make use of it as a public sea transport… nothing was done since 1980. this company has made a WORLD record to the world with the worst sea disaster ever.

GMA has wasted billions in taxpayers’ money for all her junkets ever since she assumed power. It is during these foreign trips when she can enjoy the royalty of being the head of state. Imagine havin VIP treatment with escorts and royal welcome everywhere she goes! She basks in the regality of all these perks while the rest of the Filipino people continue to suffer!

FVR and GMA probably has the most foreign trips among the Malacanang occupants. They are the two most corrupt heads as well.

Normally, the fine prints in marine insurances wont pay for act of war or as a result of force majeure. But for crew error, yes, the insurance pays up. They now have to prove faults of the master or his ignorance of typhoon evasion or the chief engineer failed to put his engine and auxiliaries on tip top shapes. Hope this will alleviate the moribund plight of the victims and their kins.

Grabe si pandak! Several days after the ship disaster, there was no effort to rescue the dead. She had to depend on the US ship to rescue the dead, 24 to 48 hrs pa bago makarating! Ni wala man lang tayong capability to rescue our own dead? GRABE TALAGA! And she calls herself a leader? She can not possibly say everything is under control-remote controlled pala! Such a hyprocrite!

Sagot ko, “So, all Filipinos are “magnanakaw.” Is that an admission that Gloria Dorobo is a robber and a thief, too, together with her husband, children and relatives?” Kundi iyan tarantado, ano iyan?

It reminds me of what my father-in-law once told me. Robbers and thieves must have had ancestors who were robbers and thieves, too.

Kleptomania is a mental illness, you know, and we all know that it is hereditary!!! Siguro si Gloria Dorobo and her husband have had robbers and thieves for ancestors, too, and it is no wonder that their children and their children’s children after them will be like them. Kung maraming maging anak ang mga iyan, you can just imagine the number of robbers and thieves their clans would produce. Susmaryosep!

  51. Equalizer

Can’t imagine this happening in France or in the UK.

Imagine Brown or Sarkozy with a 4th of Parliament in tow while on a working visit abroad? The people will bring them down and hard! They won’t even know what hit them. They’re supposed to be working and not galivanting, trailing their chief or to act as baggage carriers.

  52. Voters here will say, “We’re paying you to work even when Parliament is not in session. You want to galivant? Fine but resign first!”

Filipinos mustn’t accept this mode of parliamentary shenanigans…. They must revolt or at the very least when they return home, throw rotten eggs and tomatoes at them! Basta!

Pasalamat siya sa bagyo as it was apparently used by the people she forced to get an appointment with the American lame duck to get a longer sit-down sweetie-sweetie than the usual 10 seconds (?) given her. Naka-oval room pa siya ngayon.

Pero napintasan ang suot niya. Someone should have told her not to wear red and stop smiling with her front teeth out with a thousand or more of her countrymen still missing because of the Chinese typhoon. Akala niya beauty siya. Parang pandak na version noong asawa niyang kamukha niyang kapalmuks! Pwe!

  54. Same in Japan, Anna.

Sa totoo lang, with the bad ratings of the LDP to which Fukuda belongs, hindi makangiti ang Prime Minister namin. Puede?

Kawawang Pilipinas, lupain ng mga naaapi!

  55. Cheering squad for Pacquiao paid with blood and sweat of Filipinos. Wow! I doubt that Pacquiao will even contribute to the fundraising for victims of Fengshen.

  57. In 2007, Gloria Arroyo’s foreign and domestic travels totaled P588.5 million and P34.1 million, respectively, according to the Commission on Audit (COA)’s report on the 2007 financial transactions of Malacañang.

  58. Tongue,

Iyong sa Pilipinas naman iyong bagyo and the American drivers, no mention of ‘Nanong buri mo.

  62. bitchevil bitchevil

GMA’s trip cost hundreds of dollars and millions of pesos in exchange for $100,000 donation from the US.

  63. bitchevil bitchevil

Unknown to many, some of the solons left ahead of GMA’s delegation so they would not be recognized.

  64. dandaw dandaw

She has a shopping money of $100,000.00 from Nigroponti. Naisahan na naman ang Kano. That is what you call “World Class Swindler”.

Vietnam Prime Minister visited the White House on June 23rd while tiyanak pidal was on the White House on June 24th.

Who did the Vietnam Prime Minister talked to:
    President Bush
    Treasury Secretary — Henry Paulson
former Federal Reserve Chairman — Alan Greenspan

Who did the tiyanak pidal talked to:
    President Bush
    Defense Secretary — Robert Gates
    Agriculture Secretary — Ed Shaefer
Deputy Secretary of State — John Negroponte

    Who is John Negroponte?

Pathological liar talaga. No butting of the eye ang kumag na kinapalan ang make-up to look beautiful on camera daw. Parang premonition of a terrible thing to come.

On the other hand, what is happening now, like this disaster caused by Fengshen, should be an eyeopener, sabi nga pampagising sa mga tulog. Pag wala pang ginawa ang mga pilipino, well, they deserve what they get!

Kawawang bansa! Baka biglang sabi ng mga kano, “Sorry, but we thought of sending our help in kind, not cash.

I know Japan for instance has promised 20M yen in aid for the Fengshen victims, but all in kind, not cash. I guess the Americans are thinking of doing the same.

  67. Bigas yata ang ipapadala ng US, pero ingat kasi baka i-hoard ng mga galamay ni Dorobo like what they did to the rice donated by the USA in 2001 na nabulok sa isang bodega sa Batangas. Remember?

  68. rose rose

Equalizer: please take note that Cong. Ex Javier of Antique is NOT with the group. I just talked to his sister ten minutes ago and was told that Boy is in Antique and had been visiting the affected areas. As a matter of fact I know that he was in Antique at the time Frank passed by and devastated the towns of Sibalom and San Remigio. And besides if he had plans of visiting US (and particularly NYC) I would have known..It was his office who advised me that the Sta. Rita shrine in Sibalom was not damaged and that water did not reach the church.

  69. rose rose

Ang sabi ko sa nagtanong..you can’t be serious asking me..may fund raising ata..and I asked..if I have a picture taken with her will it make me look like Elizabeth Taylor?

  70. bitchevil bitchevil

Ellen, Antique was also hard hit by the recent typhoon. How’s your home province and relatives there? I hope they’re all fine.

  71. Sioktong:

The pictures were dated May 2003. Is she from Mexico?” Akala chicano. Hindi alam na pygmy from the Philippines!!!

  72. Rose,

I sent you the notes from the RATS. The rally in NYC I understand is supposed to be on Thurs. I have asked Ellen to forward the note to you, too.

  73. Valdemar Valdemar

    asiandelight,
the first thing that should happen is for the authorities to read again the ban on outriggered bancas to be used as ferries or public conveyances. Small as they seem, we have regular mishaps on them. They add up to the level of Titanic or Dona Paz.

  74. rose rose

grizzy: thanks I did receive your messages..
bithevil: thanks for your concern..The Tordes in Sibalom are ok..ang malaking problema doon ngayon ay..ang malaking gutom na aabutin ng mga tao..Sibalom is the rice granary of the province..because of the flood (I was told that neck high ang taas ng tubig) at ang agos ng tubig was so swift tangay ang mga baboy, poultry, etc. walang makakain ang karamihan. kawawa ang mga kabataan (school just started) ang mga damit ay na tangay din ng agos. In another post I advised those who may want to donate for the victims, where to send their donations. The Assumption Sisters has an outreach program for Sibalom, Antique. Kailangan na kailangan ng tulong para doon..but please don’t send your donations via “putot express”.
The next town, San Remigio was hit much more and mas pobre ang mga tao sa binukid kang San Remigio kay sa Sibalom. I grew up in San Jose, Sibalom, and San Remigio and I have very fond memories of the places..As a matter of fact each time I visit the Phil. we would go home to Antique.

  75. Rose,

I saw video clips of those pigs being washed away by flood. Walang kumukuha para na lang iluto nila kasi di rin yata makakaluto ng pagkain with all the woods wet and would not ignite.

Huwag nang pauwiin si Gloria Dorobo and make sure Ermita, et al are kicked out, too. Patalsikin na, puede ba?

  76. bitchevil, our neighbor said our house withstood the typhoon. There were some houses that were swept away by the huge waves.Luckily, the occupants had left before it happened.

The rice field are filled with debris. That means there would be no harvest in September.

  77. bitchevil bitchevil

Good to hear that, Ellen. Your house has withstood the typhoon just like how you withstood the harassment and pressure from this evil government.

  78. hawaiianguy hawaiianguy

Yeah, this trip of Gloria and those officials to US is nothing but a JUNKET.

Gloria’s trip is disguised as “official state visit” (kuno), with that large coterie of close to 100 known junketeers many of whom (inluding the fatso guy) only want to see Pacquiao’s fight this Saturday.

While the country suffers from the devastation of a super typhoon, here’s Gloria and her bunch of mostly insensitive officials enjoying their USA trip. What business are they talking about other than pleasure?

Can Gloria get the remaining tranche of unreleased $4 million anti-terrorist fund before Dubya bows out of office? Nah! With Gloria’s known record of abusing public funds and corruption, I don’t think the Americans will still trust her.

I would have admired these officials if they donated the money intended for the US trip to those typhoon victims, including the families of that ill-fated Sulpicio ship.

Damn it! How can a poor country move forward under these calloused, greedy and pleasure-loving officials who think of themselves first before their countrymen’s welfare?

  79. bitchevil bitchevil

By the way, Manny Pacquiao said he’s dedicating this fight for the victims of the recent typhoon. He didn’t say he’s donating part of his prize if he wins. The recent typhoon has certainly affected jueteng in the provinces. Won’t these gambling lords come out and give financial assistance to the victims? Hello, Bong Pineda!

  80. sorry bitchevil, the jueteng collections are much lower after the typhoon, Bong, Lilia or son Dennis cannot afford donations since the payroll in Chavit’s updated ‘listahan’ will still have to be paid.

  81. HG:

The state visit tag has long been corrected by Bunye. It is now called “working visit” now being turned into a some sort of fundraising campaign for the victims of Fengshen. Pati nga iyong Equity Bill ginamit as reason for the visit even when it has been there being pushed by Filipino veterans long before she grabbed power. Para nga naman kung matuloy, sasabihin niya, the veterans owe it to her.

Wina-wowee iyong mga Congressmen ng US with all those awards kuno na wala namang silbi as a matter of fact. Pilak lang naman at laso!!! Vanity lang!!!

Ang galing talagang magmaniobra ng isang kriminal. Mafia ang style! Sa totoo lang nakakahiya!

  82. On Gloria’s luncheon with conservationists WWF and The Nature Conservancy for The Coral Triangle Initiative (at the Willard Intercon on June 23), Asian Journal has this:

…Ms Arroyo said she also had the deep conviction that environment conservation should not take a back seat to economic development.

“There is no reason that job creation and a good, sound, clean environmental policy cannot coexist. The Coral Triangle Initiative is proof positive that the sustainable environmental model is not only possible; it is also necessary and we are going to make sure it happens,” she said.

The President again expressed a mother’s pride in her child:

“We are proud of what we are trying to do today here. And on a personal note, I’m deeply proud that Luli has sought to spend her gifts working with the WWF and making sure she preserves God’s gift of the Coral Triangle, a perpetual blessing for the peoples of the region and the world.”

If I know their real motives, they need Luli to guard the Palawan reef area to make sure no one drills in search for oil there aside from their own dummies and cronies.

And that talk about job creation and environmental policy are all but flatulence.

  83. EQ, et al, (excuse me, Ellen)
It’s not just the latest ‘Bushism’ from Daniel Kurtzman that is worth reading.

In The Huffington Post (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/06/24/bush-to-filipino-presiden_n_108985.html), considered as one of, if not, the most influential blogs in the world, the Bush-Gloria meeting is viewed by most Americans from a very interesting perspective. The blog entry is currently the most popular with over 201,000 hits in 2 days, and over 1,400 comments ranging from Bush’s stupidity to American racism.

I suggest you read all the comments.

  84. sioktong sioktong

Grizzy, thanks for letting me know. Nagtataka din ako kagabi kung bakit may state ceremonial pa si tiyanak pidal samantalang itong Vietnam Prime Minister eh walang akong nakitang state ceremonial samantalang parehong lang sila na ‘working visit’. Yon pala ang dahilan.

    grizzy says:
Is she from Mexico?” Akala chicano. Hindi alam na pygmy from the Philippines!!!

Ganito ang isasagot ko sa mga kano.
    Yeah, Arroyo is from Chiuahua,Mexico…..LOL

  88. bitchevil bitchevil

The Evil Bitch is so disappointed not being able to meet Obama. For Obama, his election this year is more important than meeting this evil woman. Why would someone like Obama who’s likely to be elected meet the most unpopular, most corrupt, most evil fake leader of the Philippines?

  89. Tongue, ang nakakaiyak about Bush stupid and condescending remarks (and the comments in Huffington’s blog) is that Gloria Arroyo didn’t feel offended. Tuwang-tuwa pa nga. Ecstatic siya and the whole entourage. Hopeless.

  90. Isa pang kapalmuks si Brenda, who now says she’s running for president in 2010 if she does not get nominated to the ICJ.

First world country daw ang Pilipinas within 20 years of her reign! Hindi na bababa hanggang sa mamamatay siya! Nanang ko po!

  92. Wala talagang delicadeza ang animal. I have not heard of any head of state visiting the US meeting with any presidential candidate during campaign periods kasi masamang tignan. Si Burot namilit pa. Wala talagang etiquette. Sobra ang toyo sa ulo! Nakakahiya!

  93. chi chi

Ang kapal, ang kapal ni Gloria!

May picture ba si Laura Bush together with the bitch? Can’t see any.

  94. chi chi

Hoy, when are you coming at nang makita mo kung ano ang deprensya ng iyong lugar at sa akin in terms of economy. Bush bungled the furniture and clothing industries here that so many baby boomers are now out of jobs. I never bother to let them know na iba na at ang pangalang ay PEKE.

  97. bitchevil bitchevil

Manny Fuckyao said he’s dedicating the fight to the victims. He promised to donate part of his prize money IF he wins. He didn’t say how much. P10,000 out of his $10M prize? I bet you he will stay in Las Vegas with his gang to gamble if he wins (even if he loses).

  98. andres andres

Habang nagdadalamhati ang buong bansa sa mga nasawi sa paglubog ng Princess of the Stars at sa bagyong Frank, patuloy na nagpapakasasa si Gloria the Evil Bitch kasama ang mga alipores na congressmen sa America!

    Tama na! Sobra na!

  99. chi,
Kumakaway yung right hand nila except for Taba na left hand ang nagwe-wave. Kadiri!

  100. Ellen,
Napansin ko sa comments ng mga Kano, offended sila sa kabobohan ni Bush in front of a foreign president “who went out of her way to seek aid for her countrymen devastated by a storm.” Iyan generally ang tenor ng mga commenters. And I admire the Americans for being compassionate.

  102. masha masha

thanks for the list, equalizer. nakakapanggigil talaga ang gobyerno natin. shameless! mikey and dato have proven that they are their parents’ sons. hopefully, they only have a couple of years left to go. but the way we treat the marcoses now must give these a**holes confidence that they have nothing to fear.

toungue twisted, that clip was shown too in a popular left leaning show “countdown with keith olbermann” either on thursday or wednesday. bush has really become a joke in the us. but gma should have added to the achievements of fil-ams. she confirmed by her silence how lowly we are thought of. what’s the use of her traveling?

heard that gma was running after obama. how stupid of her to think that he would have time for her. meeting with her would not have served anything in his cause and he has tons of important stuff to do. he’s not going to get votes by meeting with her. how embarrassing for gma and the country! masyado kasing pa-in itong si gma. buti nga sa kanya. i hope obama gets briefed that she is a very corrupt president that violates human/civil rights repeatedly so he becomes wary of ever meeting with her. the leader of the free world shouldnt meet with despots.

  103. chi chi

    Tongue,

  104. masha masha

akala ni gma makaka photo-op siya with obama para tumaas ang stock niya sa pinas. malamang gusto rin ma-meet ng mga anak at asawa ng mga anak niya si obama habang nasa poder pa sila. at para maiyabang na na-meet nila si obama. we should make sure that the obama campaign gets warned of the human rights violations of the arroyo administration as well as how she cheated to be president and enriched herself at the expense of the filipinos.

obama is a star and the arroyos want a piece of that.

  105. bitchevil bitchevil

Out of the 59 solons who joined GMA in the trip, not even one has joined her return trip.
