Naloko kayo ‘no?

Naloko Kayo ‘no?

That’s the after-Sona joke directed to those who applauded Gloria Arroyo when she announced that cost of text messages would now be 50 centavos per message.

Here’s Arroyo’s boast: “Texting is a way of life. I asked the telecoms to cut the cost of messages between networks. They responded. It is now down to 50 centavos.”

Applause! Applause!

What Gloria Arroyo did not say is that it’s only good up to October. Just like many of the things that Arroyo boasted in her speech last Monday, it was just a show for Sona.

On the day Arroyo was announcing the decrease by half of cost of text messaging, Smart and Globe came out with announcement in major newspapers of the special promo of 50 centavos per text message to other networks, cheaper by 50 percent from the regular P1 per text from July 28 to October 22, 2008.

And it’s not automatic. You don’t avail of the 50 centavo per text promo unless you register. Their ads tell what numbers to call to do register.

Both the government and telephone companies say that the promo was not timed for Arroyo’s Sona but who are they kidding? Just last month news reports say they were resisting the proposal of the National Telecommunications Commission to impose a cap on interconnection rates for short messaging service, saying the proposal violates the constitutional right of Telcos to non-impairment of contracts and warned that it will discourage foreign investment.

“The proposed circulars would be unconstitutional as they would impair the obligations of contracts and confiscate the proper right of mobile operators to recover their investment without due process of law,” Smart said in its position paper.

“This will also have an adverse effect on the industry as new players will be wary of competing and entering the market given the uncertainty on the reasonable return on their investments, considering that they may have difficulty in recovering or recouping losses,” said Smart which gets most of the 1.2 billion text traffic daily in the country.

Telcos have warned that lower text and voice service charges will mean a surge in traffic and would have adverse effect on their current network that would require expanding one’s network.

What happened to all those arguments?

They gave the answer in their promo ads which said, “This is in response to the initiatives of Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Congress through the leadership of Hon. Senate President Manuel B. Villar, Hon. Speaker Prospero C. Nograles, DOTC Secretary Leandro Mendoza and National Telecommunications Commission under the leadership of Commissioner Ruel V. Canobas to lower communication costs for the benefit of the public.”

Since it can be done, why limit it to up October only. Why not make it permanent unless, as what people realized the morning after, it was only “for Sona.”

I suggest to the public to limit texting and text only during emergencies and also text after October. Graby ano?

  2. BWAHAHAHAHA!!! Inilagay ko sya sa sidebar ko! Hahaha! Isa syang classic, classic April Fools day in July! I’d say this SONA title should be changed to something like “Litanya nang Pantasya ni Gloria!”

  3. bitchevil bitchevil

Shame on those who cheered and clapped for her at SONA. Pinoys should know better. Anything that comes out from the Evil Bitch’s mouth are all lies. Fools get fooled.

  4. patunay ever na isa syang SONA-ngaling!!!

  5. bitchevil bitchevil

Joker “The Big Shit” Arroyo tried to expel Senator Trillanes from the Senate but failed !

  6. bitchevil bitchevil

Joker’s attempt was supported by another shit, Enrile. Fortunately, Nene Pimentel aggressively defended Trillanes.

  7. Reynz,
    “SONA-ngaling” – I like it. Haha!

  8. Gloria, gusto mo sampalin kita ng PERA? Tig- bebenchinko! Nakaplastic pa. masakit diba? Haha…

  9. Toney Cuevas Toney Cuevas

Whore Gloria is not fooling anyone, but herself. Anyway, what do you expect from the whore but package of lies. She has been lying ever since she usurped a legitimate govt mandated by the people and she hasn’t stop, yet it’s getting worse. Lying is whore Gloria’s disease, it has come natural to the whore, she’s really good at it. She can stand in front of those people and lie with a straight face, and even smile thinking perhaps that people are so gullible, they’d believe anything. Such a whore!

  10. Toney Cuevas Toney Cuevas

Instead of addressing the real problems facing the country, such as graft and corruption, poverty, unemploymnet, crime, extra-judicial killing, uncontrolled population growth, pollution, dirty drinking water, pinoys leaving the country to find a better way to make a living, etc, etc. And whore Gloria was talking about 50 centavos text messages. Such an idiot whore!

  11. Note:Arroyo is applauded 102 times(includes canned applause inserted by Malacanang R/TV)

  12. AN SABI: In reaction to telecommunication companies’ statement that the reduction is but temporary and part of promotions, Kim Gargar, convenor of TXTPower, said that the P0.50 rate should be even made permanent. He said, “It will still provide a relief for texting Filipinos. Otherwise, this is just one of the President’s survival tactics, and does not prove any sincerity in helping the poor.”

GETZ NYU MGA KUNICHIWA?! Gloria is officially TXTPower’s PROMO KING NA NABUKING hahahaha or PROMO QUEEN NA KELANGANG PUKPUKEEEN hehehe!

  13. BD: Anything that comes out from the Evil Bitch’s mouth are all lies. Fools get fooled.
    *****

No, they are not being fooled. There is a difference between being fooled and allowing themselves to be fooled.

    Kawawang bansa!

  14. They say that the 50centavos text cost reduction is the telcos way of showing appreciation for the president’s economic initiatives.
…that Gloria’s announcement to retain VAT saved the stock market from falling too low (nevertheless it still fell).
…that the poor will suffer more without it.
…that we are able to pay off our foreign debt because of it, ergo we can borrow more (for whom?)

  15. Lopez says it’s as if Marcos never left

‘ABS-CBN is the real target, not Meralco’

MANILA, Philippines—The patriarch of the Lopez family Tuesday came out swinging at the Arroyo administration and its officials, saying that with what had been happening, it was as though Ferdinand Marcos’ dictatorship had not ended.
    http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/inquirerheadlines/nation/view/20080730-151482/Lopez-says-its-as-if-Marcos-never-left

  16. bitchevil bitchevil

I don’t understand why people still keep calling Marcos a dictator. Define dictator. Sometimes, a country needs a strong leader or you can call dictator. There are good and bad dictators. I personally believe Marcos was a good dictator while this Evil Bitch is the worst dictator. I would prefer to hear from the Lopezes that GMA is a worse dictator than Marcos than placing the two on equal footing. There’s no comparison.

  18. Dito sa Japan, Jug, small business walang VAT. In UK, when I was a student there, I remember food and other necessities were VAT free. Dapat ganyan ang ginawa sa Pilipinas if the government really wants to alleviate the sufferings of the poor. Pero wais sa kahayupan ang garutay so what can you expect. Mambobola lang at mambobola ang ungas, and utter things dictated on her by the thieving partners of hers, kaya pag ini-scrutinize, boking! Walang masagot ang ungas. Paulit-ulit lang ang mga kabulastugang sinasabi. Yuck!

Ngeeeeek! Kadiri!

  19. EQ:

What a bunch of warped minds! Binilang pati palakpak?

Makes me wonder now if the father and mother of Gloria Garutay had to do a lot of clapping to pacify her when she was a baby and even when she had gotten married and had children of her own—para hindi mabistong may tupak pala siya sa ulo!

  20. Truth is I wonder what kind of satisfaction the garutay gets paying people to clap at her speech. The common question when one hears of such kind of story is, “Ano gago?”

Unless one is a pervert, it’s really quite incomprehensible that one can feel elated and even brag about it when everyone knows those who clapped were doing so against their better judgment not to mention their will for the monetary reward.

  22. Gabriela Gabriela

Sabi ni Ted Failon sa kanyang radio program with Korina Sanchez kaninang umaga, “it is now down to 50 centavos. For details read newspaper ads and flyers.”

  23. Gabriela Gabriela

And take note, para lang yan sa pre-paid users. Hindi kasali ang plan users.

Manloloko talaga itong si Gloria arroyo.

  24. bitchevil bitchevil

That’s only a Promo for three months, and you need to lead at least P20. Many people were taken for a ride. When they started texting after the SONA, it was still one peso, not 50 centavos.

  25. bitchevil bitchevil

Excuse me…correction: to load (not lead). Another controversial topic she mentioned at SONA was the Reproductive Health Bill. Just because there were priests attending the SONA, she proudly declared that she was against the bill. The priests were all smile, clapping.

  26. bitchevil bitchevil

“The last SONA of Doña Gloria was interrupted a hundred or so times (according to the broadcast stations) by coaxed applause. The applause was tepid, likely coaxed by two very apparent observations. First, the speaker on the dais stopped after almost every sentence, and looked as if she was waiting for the applause. After a few seconds of embarrassing silence, the polite applause came. Naghihintay ng palakpak!

The second was the usual presence of starters-Senadora Miriam in pink paler than her Boss Woman’s, giving her every ounce of strength to raising the decibels of coaxed approval. Plus the Arroyo brothers, one positioned to the front left of Doña Mama, the other at the rear right. And of course, the ubiquitous Senora Girlie Villarosa.”

Ulol! Sinong niloko ng gagang iyan? Di iyong gusto pa ring maloko niya at binabayaran lang niya.

Sabi nga ng kaibigan ko, ripe for a revolution kung sa ibang bansa iyan. Ang mga pilipino kasi, umaalis na lang ng bansa nila, never to ever return again! Huhuhuhuhuhuhu!

  28. jake jake

    hayyyyyyyyyyyyyy…Gloryahh…Gloryahhh…Gloryahhh….

  30. bitchevil bitchevil

Most were against the postponement or delay of the ARMM election. Yet, the Evil Bitch and her cohorts once again managed to get what they wanted. Before it’s too late, we need a patriot to end the Evil Bitch reign. This patriot could come from her own people.

  31. EB, please take note that I edited your comment.

  32. From Benjie Mendoza:

I think that Telecom Companies must be forthright in their advertisement. And government should not contibute in misleadeading the public about the cost of SMS, particularly the so called 50 cent per SMS promos of Telecom Companies. For example, A consumer who register in Smart or Globe promo will pay P20 for a maximum of 40 SMS which they must send within 24 hours to OTHER network. But if they were not able to consume all of this (and most consumers don’t), then the cost of SMS can even be more than 50cents per SMS. If one happens to need to send only one SMS for the day after registering, then he/she effectively paid P20 for a single SMS.
    No. of Cost per SMS
    SMS Sent (in Pesos)
    1 20.00
    2 10.00
    10 2.00
    20 1.00
    40 0.50

  34. Bitchevil, i don’t want to waste further time and space on this subject. Your comment was edited, not deleted. I did not delete. It’s there.

Look at your entry on July 31st, 2008 at 11:22 pm .

Now, any more entry on this, I will delete.

  35. Hmmm, di ko naintindihan itong “Gloria is officially TXTPower’s PROMO KING NA NABUKING” comment ni Reyna Elena.

  36. Ederic, MY BAD! In any case, yon kasing 50 cents ang pinag-uusapan dyan which was promo lang pala. I wrote something about it as Part 3 nang SONA sa blog ko, kaso am not putting the link here at medyo baka bawal.

  37. Hi RE, link by all means.
