Napuyat ako sa kakahintay kay Joc-Joc Bolante, ang matalik na kaibigan ni Mike Arroyo na dumating noong Martes ng gabi mula sa dalawang taong pagkakulong sa Estado Unidos.
Hindi na ako nakipagsiksikan sa loob ng NAIA dahil bawat media entity, isang reporter lang ang kailangan. May reporter naman kami doon sa loob, kaya doon ako sa mga concerned citizens na gustong hikayatin si Bolante na magsabi ng totoo.
Hindi namin nasilayan si Bolante dahil alam naman natin lahat na pagkatapos ma-turn over siya ng Bureau of Immigration at National Bureau of Invesitgation kay Senate Deputy Sergeant-at-arms Jaime Dimacale, isinakay siya sa naghihintay na ambulansya papuntang St. Luke’s Hospital.
Sabi ng mga reporter, hindi raw nila halos nakilala si Bolante, ang may pakana sa anomalyang paggamit ng P728 milyong pera para sa abono ng palay sa kampanya ni Gloria Arroyo noong 2004 eleksyon. Pumayat at halos puti na ang buhok Mukhang hindi nakapag-tina.
Naka-wheelchair siya at kapa-kapa ang ang kanyang dibdib.
Ngunit dahil siguro sa maraming ng kasinungalingan ang natanggap ng taumbayan, marami ang naniniwala na nagda-drama lang si Bolante upang maka-iwas sa imbestigasyon na gagawin ng Senado.

Ngunit hindi dapat kampante ang taumbayan. Baka magising na lang tayo, wala na sa St. Luke’s si Bolante at hindi na makita. Magmatyag. Magbantay.

Many didn’t know that Bolante was almost snatched or abducted by Malacanang’s agents when he arrived had it not for the tight guarding of the Senate Security Personnel. Earlier arrangement was for the Office of the Segeant-At-Arm to accompany Bolante. But when he arrived, NBI agents (of course upon order of Raul Gonzalez) and some Airport Policemen tried to get Bolante. Then, an ambulance arrived and fortunately, the Senate personnel were able to get into the ambulance. To their surprise, there were already other unidentified men inside including a woman who claimed to be Bolante’s relative. And instead of bringing Bolante to Makati Medical Center which was much closer to the airport, he was brought to St. Luke’s. On the way, government people in government vehicles tried to race with the ambulance. It was like a kidnapping scene in the movie. Since Bolante arrived at the hospital safely and there was no untoward incident, the above scenario was not played by the media. The information was relayed by a reliable source who was with the team of Bolante. So, there you go…another attempt that failed. Thanks to the Senate personnel, media and public.

First Gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo arrived unannounced at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City Thursday morning.
It was unclear as of posting time why President Arroyo’s husband visited St. Luke’s, the same hospital where his friend, former agriculture undersecretary Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante, has been confined since Tuesday night.
After alighting from his vehicle, Mr. Arroyo immediately went inside the hospital and refused to entertain questions from the media who camped out overnight outside the St. Luke’s building.

If there would be Senate hearing and Bolante testifies as promised which we doubt he would, this question about Mike Arroyo’s visit should be asked.

Agriculture undersecretary Jocelyn “Joc-Joc” Bolante is in stable condition but needs to undergo further medical tests because of his fluctuating blood pressure and significant weight loss, his doctor said.
In a press conference Thursday, Dr. Romeo Saavedra, Bolante’s doctor for the past 15 years also said there had been a “significant narrowing” of Bolante’s vessels.
“We want to make sure that in the next few days, when he’s going to engage in stressful activities, it is not detrimental to his health,” said Saavedra.
“He’s no longer complaining of chest pain, I think he’s well rested…but he is relatively weak,” he added.

Two reasons given by Bolante’s doctor why he has to be confined longer at the hospital: 1. He has lost so much weight. 2. He has high blood pressure. Let’s begin with number one reason. After being jailed in the US for three years, why be surprised that Bolante has lost weight? The foods inside the jail wouldn’t be as nice as when he was still the DA Usec. in Manila. Three years is such a long period to be surprised why a person loses weight. If one loses 20 pounds after a few days or a week, then that gives concern. Let’s take the second reason: It’s common for middle-aged man like Bolante to have high blood pressure. Can they prove that Bolante’s blood pressure was normal before he left for the US? He could have hypertension since the beginning. So, this is another poor excuse.
I think it’s about time doctors and hospitals being used to obstruct justice, or abetting the coverup of crimes, and harboring criminals be taught a lesson by the senate.
