Cory to Erap: Sorry for EDSA2

By VERA Files

(Listen to actual speeches in Verafiles podcast of the booklaunching)

Former President Corazon Aquino publicly apologized this afternoon to former President Joseph Estrada for leading the second people power revolt in 2001 or EDSA 2 that ousted him and installed Gloria Arroyo in the presidency.

“I am one of those who pleads guilty for the 2001 uprising,” the ailing Aquino said in her brief remarks at the launching of former Speaker Jose de Venecia’s autobiography at the Podium at the Ortigas Center.

    A mistake too costly.

Buhat sa pagkakamaling iyan, (or it it a sin against the country and people), nakawala na si Erap sa kulungan at mayaman pa rin; si JdV ay inilaglag na rin ni Gloria at msyaman pa rin; si Mrs. Aquino ay patuloy na humihingi ng fogiveness; si Fidel Ramos ay patuloy na nagmamasid; ang Tanay Boys at Magdalos ay nakakulong pa rin; at ang ultimate na tinamaan, si Juan, ay naghihingalo na sa kahirapan. Subalit si Gloria Arroyo, ang recipient ng ‘pagkakamali, ay patuloy na namamayagpag, taking advantage of a divided opposition and a nation of 90 million cowards.

Eight years and counting…. of suffering due to a “mistake” of known and powerful personalities. Kawawa ka naman Juan!

Anyways, Meri Kristmas pa rin Juan, you will survive Gloria, just “pray” harder.

How about the citizens of the Philippines, don’t they deserve a sincere apology from Cory? I believe, Cory should instead make a public apology to citizens of the Philippines for participation in creating a demoniac in 2001 -Edsa Dos. Pilipinos are the one that suffered the most throughout the years. Nevertheless, damaged has already been done, sorry doesn’t help any to rectify the injustices that has been done.

As for Former Speaker Jose de Venetia’s autobiography, who cares. Just another money making scheme for Jose. Pilipinos are that gullible to buy into another scam by Jose? When Pilipinos are going to learn? Such shameles bunch of people!

  5. Repentance cannot be complete without retribution. It is just too bad that Mrs. Aquino is just too sick perhaps to really be in the forefront to rally the Filipinos in fight against the criminal calling herself “President of the Philippines.” I don’t know how bad her condition is at present but she should exert more effort I guess toward this goal of removing the creep instead of just making useless public apology.

BTW, she admits now, she committed a big mistake in helping remove Erap. She could be wrong, too, about Marcos, who was himself a victim of the kurakots who surrounded him and dropped him like a hot potato in the end.

Frankly, I do not sympathize with them so-called “leaders,” who have not made a lot of us proud to be Filipinos or even part Filipinos, especially after they created the Filipino image that a Filipino in the Bay Area describe as “mga puta at alila ng mundo!” 🙁

  7. chi chi

    delete ‘given’, pls.

  8. chi chi

    Yuko,

For Cory, asking Erap’s forgiveness is not useless, it sets her free and makes Erap happy. But I agree, for the kapinuyan…it’s useless!

  9. Every act of kindness, be it forgiveness, charity, thoughfulness, a kind word, a comforting hand – is never useless…We can’t all be “big contributors” to change, but we can do do with bits of kindness here and there.
Our leaders, have in a substantial way shaped our country, guided our history, and contributed greatly to the country and people. The fact that they achieved such positions of leadership is more than anyone of us can dream of attaining. They are also human, and they can fail, not just succeed, who are we to trash them so easily? Are we that perfect or righteous?
I don’t believe in finding salvation or catharsis in belaboring ourselves. We still have much to be grateful for, we are what we are, we have to begin to love ourselves at some point and take the good with the bad and strive to be better, to improve, continously…

The saying is true that if a person is very ill and about to die, he or she confesses his or her sins. That’s what Cory did. The damage she did to Erap and the country was unmeasurable. But people fail to know the truth behind Cory’s conspiracy with the evils to oust a legitimate President (Erap). Her apology would not be complete without mentioning her late mentor, Cardinal Sin. It was Sin who persuaded Cory to go to Edsa. It was Sin who also asked then SC Cheap Davide to administer oath to GMA. I also have the same comments about what Cory did to Marcos; but would like to refrain from doing so right now.

  11. bitchevil bitchevil

All the papers carry the headline about Cory’s apology except Manila Standard. Some Bishops like Tobias already apologized publicly too. It would be nice for others to follow. I believe that if Cardinal Sin were alive today, he might also apologize.

  12. chi chi

As political leaders, they are expected to make judgement with the least impact on people. A mistake like this which brought down Pinas is unacceptable.

More than A Century Hence, and still we are in a deep shit because this nation is shaped by ‘knowledgeable’ and greedy politicians, not by the Juans whose opinions rarely matter.

  14. SULBATZ SULBATZ

Saying “sorry” is an incomplete act towards righting a wrong. While it may be considered as a first step, penance should follow and finally the rectification of errors that had been commited. Unless the process is completed, “sorry” is just another word that has no meaning.

Let us be reminded of the “I AM SORRY” episode. We are still in deep shit after that because the process toward righting a wrong has not been completed.

  15. SULBATZ SULBATZ

If I were Erap, I would have said this to Cory…..”Your sorry is accepted, but what are you going to do about it?”

  16. chi chi

And for pinoys who are forced into poverty by this “mistake” of throwing Gloria to them…huwag kayong mag-alaala at lilipas din ang Pasko.

    Over and Out….

  17. Chabeli Chabeli

I, too, am sorry that I joined EDSA 2 to oust Erap. Every waking moment that Gloria sits in Malacanan is a harsh reminder of that huge mistake. That is karma for those of us who thought that the midget was a better alternative. Although many have we were had, we still have to pay a heavy price for that error.

Every chance I get, I support & join anti-Gloria rallies. I guess it’s my way of correcting a wrong..

  18. Chabeli Chabeli

Ooops, pardon the wrong grammar. Should read:

Although many have REALIZED THAT we were had, we still have to pay a heavy price for that error.

  19. rose rose

Ang pagpaalis kay Erap turned into a cardinal sin..kaya seguro marami pa din sa atin ang takot na paaalisin si putot..and for Cory it took courage to say sorry publicly.. si putot nagsorry pero hindi sa isang kasalanan kundi sa kanyang hindi pagtupad sa isang pangako..unano karon? unano parin..takot pa rin na maging cardinal sin uli ang pag alis sa isang presidente legit or peke…I am waiting for putot to publicly say to the people..I am sorry folks..forgive me..I will step down…anong ligaya seguro ng mga tao..I doubt though it will happen..but it might just happen…miracles do happen hindi ba? Peace! Shalom!

  20. bitchevil bitchevil

Chabeli, Erap has also forgiven you. But, he’s asking what you’re going to do next.

Cory’s public apology is a BIG SLAP on GMA’s face. It means many things, the most important is she heartfully resented seating a president who turned out to become the most corrupt president of the Philippines and second most corrupt president of the world. PI, hirap na hirap na ang mamamayan!!!

    Chabeli,

I’m very happy about the outcome ng paghingi ng tawad muli ni Pres.

I stand in the path of Constitutional legality of President Erap, kaya grabe ang sama ng loob ko at that time ng sipain nila ang pobre.

THREE PRESIDENTS AND A NOT-SO LADY

One night, Gloria Arroyo is awakened by President Manuel Quezon’s ghost in Malacanang. Gloria asks: “Mishter Preshident, what ish the besht thing I can do to help the Philippinsh?”

“Don’t pursue Charter Change, listen to your countrymen, and always set an honest and honorable example, just as I did,” Quezon advises.

The next night, the ghost of President Elpidio Quirino moves through the dark bedroom. “Mishter Preshident,” Gloria asks, “What ish the besht thing I can do to help the Philippinsh?”

“Cut taxes, fight corruption, reduce the size of your government, and settle your legitimacy issue once and for all,” Quirino advises.

Gloria isn’t sleeping well the next night while FG Mike as usual is snoring like a warthog. She sees another figure moving in the shadows. It’s President Ramon Magsaysay’s ghost. “Mishter Preshident, what ish the besht thing I can do to help the Philippinsh?” Gloria asks.

Magsaysay answers: “GO RIDE A PLANE.”

  26. Tedanz Tedanz

    Balweg,

Erap…except Tabako, mercado, reyes, perez, davide, civil society (yong iba eh tumiwalag na), arroyo and her lapdogs et. al.

  28. balweg balweg

re: bakit nasa Malakanyang pa siya hanggang ngayon? Ano ang problema????????

    Tedanz,

Well, we are still facing some obstacle to kick-out her coz’ Piso, Piso ang laban ngayon?

  29. bitchevil bitchevil

vonjovi2, Cardinal Sin should have done the same by apologizing before he died. But no…he received a diamond ring from the Evil Bitch on his last birthday and a million pesos check donation from Mike Pidal. It’s not a rumor. It was reported in the media. It was no surprise because Sin also received so many material favors from Imelda in the past.
    It was a common knowledge.

  31. bitchevil bitchevil

Cory still has many cases to settle with the people…the Mendiola massacre of farmers, the Hacienda Luisita murders, human right abuses against workers, land grabbing.

  32. Valdemar Valdemar

The best and only legacy Cory will leave behind after her demise is her genuine repentance from her sin in the EDSA I chaos. Her ERAP episode may have been only a slip of her mind.

  33. bitchevil bitchevil

Cory was also used in Edsa One against Marcos. Yes, she felt very bad at Nonoy’s assassination. Initially, she thought Marcos masterminded it. But at the height of the smear campaign against Marcos, she came to learn that I was not Marcos who did it. But, she continued with the grand conspiracy to oust Marcos. People were tired of Marcos’ 20 long years reign. Many ambitious politicians particularly those who were exiled in the US wanted to return to power. Military officers who failed to achieve their ambitions due to favors given to Marcos loyalist officers wanted to taste the same power. Business elite could not freely do what they wanted. Uncle Sam was also sick and tired of Marcos.
What would be the best way to oust Marcos but to install Cory taking advantage of people’s sympathy and anger. Marcos won the snap election but they falsely accused him of cheating. If Cory won, they would say it was a clean election; and if Marcos won, it was cheating. Marcos was in a no-win situation. As early as then, many said history would be kinder to Marcos. I think it’s happening now.

  34. bitchevil bitchevil

Even media, entertainment personalities, journalists need to apologize. The Lopezes and ABS-CBN were among the media networks that conspired in Erap’s ouster. Celebrities like Kris Aquino, Boy Abunda, Korina Sanchez and many others joined the ouster movement even endorsing the Evil Bitch last 2004 election. You know the journalists who participated in the ouster some of whom now praise Erap to high heaven.

  35. Gloria Arroyo’s “strong republic” isn’t that strong. She’s probably the least popular, the least trusted, and most discreditied president we ever had as she had to resort to cheating in order to win. Her hold to power is fueled by money – the worst possible motivation as it isn’t sustainable in the long run. We have to see the reality of today’s politics, her allies would drop her like a heartbeat if she becomes a liability.
She could fall easily, as she does not have the political will and vision of even a Marcos…
Its not that she is very strong, or very smart, or even lucky enough, she can’t be beaten because she occupies an unassailable position but because we have a very WEAK opposition. We have so many people complaining, taking advantage of sound bites, we have so many so called opposition leaders all wanting to be president. Why do these people believe that the only way to make any changes in this country is to become president? Whats the big deal of being president anyway?
Even our so called “opposition” forces have their own different agendas, their own prefered spaces, they don;t want to work with this person or that group, etc. Each one claining to be more patriotic than the other, purer in heart, more righteous, superior, humbler, more religious…whatever…The presence of this very unpopular president is like ringing a “dinner bell” to hungry wolves, all of them see this as an opportunity for personal ambitions.
Gloria is not that strong, its only that we have a weak opposition…weakened by disunity and selfishness…when will we ever learn?

  36. Golberg Golberg

“I believe that if Cardinal Sin were alive today, he might also apologize.”
That bonehead? I wonder if he will do that.

  37. Golberg Golberg

Mula sa Tribune: “Arroyo lauds AFP for keeping off Politics.”

  38. jose miguel jose miguel

Cory made the “I made a mistake” apology statement for her involvement in ousting Erap. Erap has always maintained that his ouster was unconstitutional. Glue has always maintained that to oust her is unconstitutional.

What could be the effect of this in the minds of many people?

It could mean that after all, the constitution is the center of the issue and the common denominator of both Erap and Glue, then this has to be settled in the court. Then, we have to have this settled within the cycle of the present dynamics of our society, even if it takes 5 years. If in the light of claims to the constitution of both, then it could mean that having made a mistake once with Erap is enough.

  39. balweg balweg

    Golberg,

During her watch, Pinas halos number 1 sa kahihiyan?

BE 10:42pm – hope you’re right. It will be media madness when OJ, on his last breath, admits to two murders. Then again, to piss of Goldman and the white majority, he might not.
But I will pray na lang for Cory, OJ, and Erap.

  43. The AFP/PNP cannot do anything about Gloria and in the interest of preserving our constitution, must not be involved in deposing a sitting president. Whether we like it or not, we have to accept that in the eyes of the law, the whole country, and the international community we have a duly constituted president and anything anyone will say to the contrary will be dismissed as hearsay or politically-motivated. Gloria and her minions have successfully legitimized themselves and have entrenched themselves in legality and numbers – there’s not much we can do mere mortals.
Its up to the senators, congressmen, politically-savvy personalities, and influential groups to wield their influence, wheel and deal, and power broke their way to changes. I don’t believe “noise” alone will have any effect. The question of the day is “what are we prepared to do about it?” obviously we could express extreme blogging outrage which basically boils down to pissing in the wind.
We have to get acquianted with political dynamics here, how things really work, who are the shakers and movers? Otherwise its another 8 years of the same thing.
This business of continously taking down each other, questioning one another’s motives is doing Gloria a big favor – the opposition is doing a good job of tearing at each other, she has nothing to worry about. Besides, she’s comforted by the fact that we are behaving like wounded bulls, very brave, seemingly strong, capable of sudden bursts of patriotic fervor but no direction and focus, and will eventually die or kill each other in the process.
Unless we stop taking each other down, focus on “Gloria” and how to take her down…its all just useless typing.
Its enough to encourage those who are really doing something about it, strengthen those who weaken, show support, support, and even pray.
…and telegraphing intentions isn’t doing any good also…

They were very active when they were trying to oust ERAP. i am very sorry for Cory. She was used and abused by the powers that be. Now this Gordon is making noise about Corys’ apology. Now they send out the guard dog. Why am I not surpised?

Cory was never presidentiable. She became president due to circumstance. She was easily carried away, swayed and persuaded by the sentiments and sadly, the gossips of guys that sorrounded her. As to the admition of having made a mistake in supporting GMA, I fully agree with Cory. GMA should not have been in the equation from the start. She just continued collaborating with the American and Chinese invaders.

That is why Americans continue to control our defense and foreign affairs system. That is why the Chinese continue to control our economic system.

We are just fortunate to have Gen Danilo Lim, Atty Tiu and Alejandro Lichauco who though of Chinese blood are giving so much of their lives to liberate our nation from these aggressors and their collaborators. They are the true Filipinos.

Where is our self-respect as a sovereign nation? Where are our Filipino farmers and shoe manufacturers now? Where are our nationalistic Filipino soldiers now? All out in the cold!

I support Gen Yano for his statement that the AFP is now free of politics. Indeed politics is not within the area of a soldier. Indeed the basic role of any self-respecting soldier of a normal and sovereign nation like France, Japan, Israel and Vietnam is to resist any foreign invasion.

This is also the role of the Filipino soldier among us: defend our nation against foreign invasion. Our situation today is a clear indication of foriegn invasion by the Chinese and the Americans collaborated by GMA. They are the enemies. Filipino Soldiers among us, we have a mission!

The unspoken message is: The end justifies the means.

Had Guriang been a model president, would Cory and other people be sorry? Is a good outcome justification enough to defy the people’s will? They upheld their choice of Gloria over the people’s choice of Erap. And to top it all, they blame God. God guided the hand of Davide when he cut the Bible, aided by Panganiban. Poor Guy This Almighty – He is the excuse of Terrorists, a Cheating President, and that recipient of a shoe attack.

Marcos’ ouster was justified, because even if he won the snap elections, his standing for election itself was against the people’s will. The 1935 Constitution allowed only two terms; Marcos fabricated the ratification of his 1973 Constitution to stay in power. His Constitution was ratified by fifteen year old “voters”.

That is true, whether they are on the Left or Right. Halos lahat, nasa gobyerno, nangungurakot.

The only true oppositionist, to his grave, was Lorenzo Tañada. May God Bless his soul.

    AFP free of politics….my foot!

Only fools would believe this tiny piece of shit Gloria!

  53. chi chi

If Gloria had been a role model as president, I would still maintain that she is FAKE because her installation to power went against the people’s will that clearly defied the Constitution.

Walang question sa kaso ni Marcos. Thanks for pointing that out, atty.

  54. edu edu

She is not the Cory that I know and idolized. The chemo did something terribly wrong to her brain. Really, really sorry to hear that from Cory, a former president of my dear country, The Philippines.

Apologizing to a convicted plunderer, my …..!

  55. chi chi

Ano ba talaga Cory? After Gordon’s remarks, here is your spokesperson Sytangco saying that your apology was just a JOKE and you collaborated her statement. Make up your mind people!

  57. bitchevil bitchevil

Golberg, Cardinal Sin’s sins against Erap and people was the turning point of my decision to leave the Catholic Church. I know not everyone would share my decision; but I just couldn’t bear seeing evil beings leading the church.

I got a question: Why is it easy for people to believe Cory when she said she’s sorry even if she was smiling, and people refused to believe Gloria when she said “I am sorry” even when she looked very serious?

  58. bitchevil bitchevil

Cory’s apology has caused more division among the opposition groups than unity. I personally welcome her apology; but other groups like party-list groups and militants were very disappointed by her. Some politicians like Dick Gordon even said Cory was sick when she said that and criticized her for not standing her decision as a leader. Expect more Edsa Two participants to react negatively. It only shows once more that truth hurts and most people fight back when guilty.

    edu,

    Merry Christmas to you brethren!

  60. Chi: A mistake like this which brought down Pinas is unacceptable.
    *****
I second the motion. People should not be too easy nor justify the mistakes done by people who think they can lead but cannot in fact, nor are they there for the people but for just the title and all the benefits of being in such position as president, etc.

There should be no excuse, not any sympathy for those who assume leadership but fail to do even as they have promised the people who vote for them.

Sorry to disagree with you, Jug, on your softness on these idiots who call themselves “leaders,” and the usual excuse that they are just human.

Sure, we are just human but one can always improve and learn from mistakes done especially not intentionally but as you say due to human frailties, etc., but in the case of politicians in the Philippines, it is all for yabang if not kabobohan that they have made that kind of impression that “in the Philippines, all the presidents are conceived to be thieves and robbers!”

I’m not impressed as a matter of fact. I’ve met a lot of them dignitaries coming to Japan. Walang binatbat sa totoo lang compared to the MPs I met in UK or the ones we have in Japan!

It is not even because they are human and subject to imperfections, but simply because they forget once in position that they are there to serve the people as Public Servants, and not as lord and master of the people who voted for them and pay for their salaries, representations, stipends, per diem, etc. Pwe! So what if they have gone to Harvard, etc. for instance?

Iyong PM nga namin dito graduate ng Oxford U sa UK, but he hardly mentions it. Worse is when she brags that she was a graduate of Georgetown U daw, di naman pala totoo! Hindi na nahiya sa totoo lang. Yuck!

  64. I did not support Erap when he ran for the presidency, but I changed my mind about him when I realized how much effort he was exerting in trying to make ends meet with so little with none of the big countries willing to lend him money to replenish the Philippine coffers left empty by the other thief before him.

So, when Gloria Mandarambong led the protest rallies and instigated the impeachment with her cahoots, I sided with the legally elected president of the Philippines. Boy, ang dami kong nakaaway! However, I feel vindicated now with majority of the EDSA2 participants now wanting to spit phlegm on the big mole of Gloria Mandarambong, husband, et al.

Meanwhile, calling, calling, people of the Philippines! Kailan kayo aalma?

Do you know that if the contineous succession ng pagkapangulo eh nagtuloy-tuloy after Cory to Tabako till kay Erap…sana mapayapa ang Pinas?

Di ba naging mabuting subordinate si Erap when he was a VP of Tabako, bakit ng maging Presidente siya e di nila matanggap ito?

Many have already apologized to Erap in public. Cory was among the very few who did it in public. Unfortunately, some quarters are spreading the rumor that Cory has retracted her apology. Well, for me and for many…Erap could be guilty of some crimes but he was clearly illegally ousted. He was a victim of conspiracy.

  67. bitchevil bitchevil

Correction: Many have already apologized to Erap in private (not public).

  68. sammy69y sammy69y

Just because the person who replaced a corrupt president was more corrupt does not mean EDSA 2 was wrong. If Erap wasn’t deposed, he wouldn’t have been tried and convicted for his crime in misappropriating the funds of SSS and GSIS. Cory’s actions just proves that she joined EDSA 2 not because of principle but rather of convenience. Just like the crying senator and the other politicians and some bishops, they’re all hypocrites. Gets?

  69. bitchevil bitchevil

Sammy, I like your number 69. Edsa 2 was wrong from the beginning to end. Erap did not resign. He left Malacanang to avoid blood shed. Davide administered oath to Gloria as ACTING President and she replied by acknowledging her position as mere Acting President. Then, the Supreme Court under ingrate Davide used Angara’s diary in rendering a decision legalizing and making Erap’s ouster as constitutional. Erap’s impeachment was stopped after the staged walk out. The impeachment was never continued. Since charging Erap for graft and corruption was bailable, they later charged him with plunder after he refused to leave the country despite the offer from Malacanang through Nani Perez. There are many more points that could be raised to prove that Erap was more of a victim than guilty. At the very most, he was guilty of jueteng which his long time pal Chavit Singson was actively involved. Erap went to jail but Singson remains free accompanying Manny Pacquiao wherever the latter goes. Singson dared Erap to go to jail and he would join him. Did he?

  70. Balweg: Itaga mo sa bato.

Sana nga Balweg. I’m praying for that, too. Dapat ikulong lahat ang involved sa EDSA2.

Come to think of it, but how does Cory Aquino take responsibility for what she did in EDSA2?

They should investigate those involved in that fiasco, but how?

  72. bitchevil bitchevil

I’m not here to defend Cory for she too was instrumental in the ouster of Marcos. But in this ouster of Erap, it was Cardinal Sin who persuaded her to join the ouster movement. The same Sin hurriedly asked Gloria to go to Edsa and then contacted Davide to rush to Edsa to administer oath to her. That’s it.

  73. Golberg Golberg

My answer to your question BE.
Gloria is a good actress. Even her hair could act as if it is straight for the time being but its really curly most of the time. Because her brain (if she has one) is also curly. Even the late king of Philippine cinema told the public that they are far better actors than him.
Cory apologized to Erap: If she is just joking, shame on her. When the time comes that she will have to appear before the judgement seat of her Creator, lets just pray that a judgement will not be a joke that would be against her and HE will say “Its just a joke but I am serious about that joke.”

My ultimate answer: If both were just joking (acting like a movie star to convince the public) then they should just leave the country, go to hollywood for an audition. I hope the directors and producers would make a film “I started a Joke.”

  74. bitchevil bitchevil

Cory did not personally retracted her statement. It was her Spokesperson Dedee Sytangco. But since it was the Spokesperson who issued the retraction, it’s as good as from Cory. Cory could have been bothered by so much criticism from her comadres, mahjong partners, nuns in the convents, priests and Bishops who are as guilty. Joke or no joke, apology was made. It’s now the people who shall judge.

  77. sammy69y sammy69y

Bitchevil, Erap may have been a victim but he’s not innocent either. He’s guilty of his own crimes. His association with criminals is enough basis to depose him since he failed in his duty as the enforcer of the law. The only valid point you’re raising is the technicality of how Erap was deposed. You seem to have avoided raising an issue against my statement that Erap is guilty of misappropriating the funds of SSS & GSIS. Are you admitting that Erap is indeed guilty of that crime? Let’s forget about the jueteng issue. We all know it wasn’t proven beyond any reasonable doubt. That’s why the Sandiganbayan didn’t find Erap guilty on that issue. But the SSS & GSIS affair was beyond any reasonable doubt, Erap deserves to get hanged for that. Did he? Isn’t he back to his wicked ways? Dining and cavorting with all his women? So who’s the greater victim here? Erap or the countless SSS & GSIS contributors? Hello??

  78. etcetera etcetera

sammy666, President Joseph Estrada was never rendered guilty by bansot’s sandiganbayan because of SSS & GSIS. Bansot’s Sandiganbayan did not find any criminal acts of Erap concerning SSS & GSIS.

Erap was convicted based on manufactured evidence.

  79. bitchevil bitchevil

Sammy, Erap was convicted of plunder on the issue of jueteng not SSS or GSIS. If it was SSS or GSIS, the most that he would have been charged was graft and corruption which was a bailable offense. Gloria and her gang of conspirators were afraid of Erap being out on bail; so they charged him with plunder after he refused the offer (twice) to leave the country. It’s on the record.

According to Archbishop Cruz, he doesn’t like Erap’s womanizing, drinking and gambling habits; but Erap is a lot better than Gloria. There you go…coming from one respected Bishop who also participated at Edsa Two.

Conspiracy to oust Erap began from his day one in office. During the election campaign, his enemies that included Cardinal Sin tried to destroy him in vain. Sin declared “Anyone but Erap for President !”. Ramos also tried to apply his famous “Dagdag-Bawas” scheme but failed. All because Erap won by the biggest margin in the Philippine election history. Even Uncle Sam could not do anything. Uncle Sam never liked Erap for his nationalism and patriotism. Uncle Sam prefers a RP President who always says YES. Criminal syndicates got scared of Erap especially with Ping Lacson as PNP Chief. Lacson never received a peso bribe from syndicates. Lacson even did not receive monetary rewards from Tsinoys who were victims of kidnapping. He did this even when he was still the PNP Chief in Cebu. That’s why the Chinese loved him so much and owed him a deep sense of gratitude. Erap and Lacson was such a terrific team until Edsa Two. In 2010, an Erap-Lacson team up is unbeatable. But then, the two are not in the best of relationship right now…all because Lacson did not listen to Erap to slide down for FPJ in 2004.

  83. sammy69y sammy69y

    To bitchevil, etcetera and balweg,

I still have not received any valid point to any of your postings that would prove that I’m wrong.

Point# 1: Erap was NOT convicted in the charge of jueteng kickbacks. Why do you guys keep on insisting that? Ano ba yan, paawa effect? Pinapalabas ninyong Erap was unjustly convicted because of Chavit’s testimonies? He WAS CONVICTED of enriching himself by illegally ordering GSIS & SSS to make a risky investment. Please read the Sandiganbayan decision if you don’t believe me or probably you already know it but you skirt the issue since its damaging to your arguments? Please stop trying to justify your side by bringing up the jueteng issue again. I never claimed that Erap was guilty in that issue. However, as I’ve said before, he IS guilty by association. He was the top enforcer of the law but he didn’t lift a finger to investigate and prosecute his friends.

    Point# 2:
I never claimed that Erap was guilty of plunder. My claim is that he is guilty of his own crimes; therefore, EDSA 2 is not morally wrong. Yes, the politicians who benefited from EDSA 2 were corrupt or perhaps more corrupt. However, these politicians were just a miniscule percentage of the mass of ordinary people who joined and who had honorable motives for joining. Don’t claim that EDSA 2 is wrong just because of these politicians or Gloria. They DON’T represent the sentiments of the 99.99999% of the people who believed in EDSA 2.

    Point# 3:
A question for you, bitchevil. What was your basis to say that Archbishop Cruz is still respected by at least 50% of the Catholics? I for one, don’t. Some of our Catholic leaders have so engrossed themselves in worldly matters that they seem to have already forgotten their real mission in life. They have started to become very judgmental and combative. They’re acting more like the Pharisees than the disciples of Christ. Remember the story where the Pharisees were criticizing Jesus for dining with the sinners? Didn’t Jesus say that he came here in this world for the sinners? Meaning, he became human to save the sinners. He didn’t come to judge the sinners and condemn them. He came to open their eyes so they could see the right path. Cruz had admitted before that he may already be committing a sin for saying that he will never perform the sacrament of confession to Gloria if ever the situation arises. So in your objective opinion, is Cruz acting like a Pharasee or a disciple?

    Point# 4:
Just because Gloria is worse than Erap does not justify that the ordinary decent people who joined or supported EDSA 2 should apologize to Erap. Gloria is guilty of her crimes; but so is Erap.

This is my last posting. I joined this discussion to provide an objective view of Cory’s actions. So far, no one has been able to refute my views convincingly. I leave it up to the readers to decide if I’m right or wrong. Either way, my conscience is clear. Merry Christmas to everybody!

  84. bitchevil bitchevil

Oh thank you it’s your last posting, sammy. Your arguments go nowhere. Let me sAm it up your point for point: No one here in this blog ever said Erap did not commit any wrongdoing. Whether it’s jueteng, GSIS, SSS or others. You said he’s guilty by association. In legal terminology, it’s called accessory to the crime. An accessory has a lesser penalty than the principal accused. You don’t need to be a lawyer to know this. Did Erap condone the wrongdoings? Maybe he did. That’s the problem with Filipino traits…padrino system. Like Marcos, Erap allowed his compadres and friends to commit wrongdoings. Many later turned against him. Singson was among those who benefited greatly from Erap; but in order to save his ass, he turned against Erap at the right time. Now let’s get down to the basic and more logical argument…was Erap given due course?
Did his enemies allow him to defend himself in the impeachment? NO. The second envelope that triggered the staged walk out turned out to be the signature of Dichavez.
Had the impeachment proceeded and Erap was found guilty, then we could say he deserved it. But, the impeachment was halted. Sandiganbayan rendered a decision unfavorable to Erap because of the same conspiracy in the judiciary. Remember, the Supreme Court under Davide was Malacanang’s rubber stamp for Davide was the one who administered oath to Gloria. How could Davide’s court render a fair decision? And where’s Davide now? For his reward, he was made RP Envoy to the UN even if he has never been confirmed. Davide has no business being in the UN because he was not confirmed. But, why need confirmation under this evil administration when the Bitch can do whatever she wants. Angie Reyes, Atienza and many of the government officials have been by-passed many times and yet they continue to hold on to their offices.

  85. Erap actually was wrongly accused, for he definitely could not have committed plunder with the national coffers then almost if not completely empty. He should have been charged with bribery for accepting the jueteng money offered by Chavit for his freedom to continue with his illegal activities. Iyon ang kasalanan niya.

As for the philandering, it is common knowledge, and in the Philippines, it is hard to convict anyone of adultery as in Korea for instance where it is punishable by fine and/or imprisonment with almost everyone in public office in the Philippines doing so.

Over in Japan, it is not a written law, but more like an unwritten law set by the society where when one is caught doing hunky punky, the only alternative is to commit suicide even just to save family and kins from getting ostracized by society likewise.

Yuck!

  86. It is a vindication of the stand of many Filipinos, including non-Erap supporters like me, that EDSA Dos is nothing but a naked power grab designed to remove a democratically-elected leader and to install an unelected pretender.

However, there must be more that Cory and the others should do to slay the monster that they created.

  87. bitchevil bitchevil

Thanks grizzy. Mami, Cory doesn’t have to do anything more except to confirm what she apologized. In order to avoid suspicion that she asked her spokesperson Dedee Sytangco to retract it, Cory should say she meant it when she apologized. That’s all.

  88. De nada, BE. Truth is the reason why the Philippines seems to be not blessed is because the so-called “leaders of the country” are not righteous.

People there should have known better na masama ang may kabit at pakabit-kabit. Dapat alam nilang mali iyon. But then, kahit na sabihing kristyano sila, majority hindi pa nga nakakabasa ng Biblia!

If they have been religiously reading and trying to seek for the truth in the Bible, malalaman nilang ayaw ng Diyos ang mga palikero at palikera. The Bible has been very explicit in fact on the subject of adultery, at may warning doon sa mga bansang pinangunguluhan ng mga kurakot, at tinatawag na “adulterer.” Tignan mo nga ang nangyari kay David and even Solomon when they committed adultery. Ngeeeeeek! Kapaaaaal!

    ————–00000—————————

Sammy, you are a CERTIFIED LIAR, PAID POSTER OF BANSOT AND FATBOY PIDAL!

President Joseph Estrada was CONVICTED OF JUETENG KICKBACKS/PAYOFF due to bansot’s criminal co-conspirator and demonstrably corrupt Chavit Singson’s testimony.

There was NO CONVICTION PERTAINING TO GSIS & SSS.

Erap was also CONVICTED OF TAKING COMMISSIONS OF BW RESOURCES.

Another grave doubt exists in the case of the so-called BW commissions. The prosecution did present a witness, Willy Ocier, who testified that he had given a check of over P100 million in commissions for the sale of the BW shares, but Ocier also admitted that the commission went to Jaime Dichaves and there certainly was no evidence that Dichaves had given this to Estrada. The prosecution claimed that the commissions were deposited in the account of Jose Velarde,It will have to be stressed that Estrada was acquitted on the Jose Velarde plunder charge. This being the case, how is it possible then for Estrada to be found guilty of having gotten the BW commission when the funds went into the Velarde account, that has been proved to belong to Dichaves, not to Estrada?

It is claimed that the justices placed more weight on the testimonies of then GSIS chairman Federico Pascual and SSS chairman Carlos Arellano, that as Estrada had called them on the sale of the shares, they translated this to presidential pressure on them to sell, even when the defense proved that purchase and sales of stocks are a matter of the board’s decisions, which was admitted by the two former Estrada officials.
