Updates on the manifesto of support for BG Danny Lim

BGen Danny Lim’s reaction released through his lawyer, Vicente Verdadero:

I am humbled by this expression of support.

Not one to shirk away from the challenges and responsibilities, I accept the mantle of leadership bestowed upon me by the collective wisdom of the leaders and followers of the various reformist groups.

I will do justice to the trust and I commit myself to the attainment of the aspirations for a country of peace,progress and prosperity.

Statement of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, through its spokesman Lt. Col. Ernesto Torres:

1.It is the inherent right of everyone to express his thoughts and his support to anyone or anything as an invocation of freedom of expression;

2.Likewise, everyone who desires to serve the country and the people are given opportunities to do so, as long as none of these threatens our national security;

3. However, the pronouncement of support ismhighly questionable, as retired Maj. Gen. Johnny Gomez, who is alleged to be one of the signatories, denied joining the group of BGen Danny Lim and expressing his support for the cause. Apparently, his name was used without his consent;

4. The AFP in all ranks and at all levels of command shall remain loyal to the constitution and the duly constituted authorities;

5. It shall remain free from partisan politics and true to its mandate to protect the Filipino people and to preserve the integrity of the country;

6. Any digression from the sworn duty shall not be tolerated.

The Manifesto:

llim-sodalirity

We, the undersigned, hereby officially declare that we have formally united under the leadership of BGen. Danilo “Danny” Lim.

We have agreed to unite for the following reasons:

We aspire for the collective vision of a country of peace, progress and prosperity;
We are fully aware that our country is slowly being engulfed by the fires of poverty, war and corruption;
We concede the need to strengthen our ranks in the face of a ruthless enemy;
We recognize our people’s longing for change and their desire for a new breed of leader.

We have chosen BGen. Danilo “Danny” Lim for the following reasons:

He has the essential leadership qualities to steer us towards our vision;
He has the impeccable character to lead with moral authority;
He has consistently displayed uncommon valor and patriotism in the face of extremely difficult situations.

We have been forged in adversity; we are now ready to answer the call of duty…

Torres is making a mountain out of a dust.

    5. It shall remain free from partisan politics and true to its mandate to protect the Filipino people and to preserve the integrity of the country; -AFP manifesto

    Sino nga raw ang commander-in-chief ng AFP? Ow, si Gloria Arroyo pala, and pekeng presidente, of course. Based sa number 6 AFP manifest, abaw e HELLO GARCI!!! Preserving the integrity of the country raw. Really?! Bwahaha!

  3. balweg - February 23, 2009 9:53 pm

    Buti alam ni spokesman LtCol. Ernesto Torres ang karapatan ng mamamayang Pinoy, but your loyalty to the constitution and legal titular head of our govt’. e winalanghiya nýo last 2001… di pa kayo nasiyahan kundi napagamit pa kayo sa kawatan upang dayain si FPJ last 2004.

    For sure dito muling magbabalik-loob ang tiwala ng Masang Pilipino sa inyong hanay once and for all!

  4. balweg - February 23, 2009 10:05 pm

    May I suggest that if we engage in any movement, we assure the Armed Forces of the Philippines of the following:

    1. We are happily surprised with it´s statement that it recognizes the right to freedom of expression.

    2. Our actions in trying to prevent or neutralize anybody from delivering our claims, islands, agricultural lands, information and communications network, tactical geographical assets, economic resources, defense resources and intellectial resources into the hands of foreigners, are precisely responses to remove the threat to our national security.

    3. We will settle this pronouncement issue squarely and candidly.

    4. A constitution of a nation must have a basis for it’s existence, that is to preserve the integrity and functionality of the society. In our case, it is the Filipino Nation. Since the establishment of several of these constitutions after we were invaded by the Americans in 1898, these have served only to legitimize as part of the country, foreign control of our resources and the economic displacement of us original Filipinos. It also constitutionalized and institutionalized the replication of our dependency and subservience to them from one generation to the next.

    5. Our actions mentioned in item number 2 are not partisan politics. To regard such actions as fulfillment of the mandate to protect the Filipino people and preserve the integrity of the nation is only common sense.

    6. We should never digress from our duty to fulfill such mandate and we should in fact not tolerate those who will digress.

    Assurance of this direction will I think make us one and in harmony with the said institution.

  6. balweg - February 23, 2009 10:19 pm

    RE: Based sa number 6 AFP manifest, abaw e HELLO GARCI!!! Preserving the integrity of the country raw. Really?! Bwahaha!

The AFP in all ranks and at all levels of command shall remain loyal to the constitution and the duly constituted authorities?”

  7. rose - February 23, 2009 10:24 pm

    Why don’t we let this Johnny Gomez come out and asked that his name be removed..Will the True Johnny Gomez please come forward..! Kung takot siya ay Milataryaya nga siya ni Militaray cheat of staff..doon natin malaman ko sino sa mga military (retired or active; generals or a mere sundalo) ang tunay na militar..nagpalabas na naman ata Armed Forces of Pidal ng panakot..ambay tana ka ninyo…Yan-o ang tunay na Armed Forces of Pidal..Militaryaya…nadapalan ata ng stimulus ni putot…

  8. rose - February 23, 2009 10:31 pm

    Let us give Gen. Lim “some men who are stout hearted men, who will fight for the rights they adore; start him with ten who are stout hearted men and there will soon be ten thousand more..shoulder to shoulder; and bolder and bolder they will go to the fore…then ten thousand men will fight together man to man..” dito natin malaman kung sino talaga ang tunay na sundalo…protector of our country and not for the peke..

  9. jose miguel - February 23, 2009 10:38 pm

    My error of the aforementioned- we were invaded by the Americans not in 1898 but rather in 1899.

    Grizzy, they started shooting us Filipinos in February of 1899. This was long after we were already born as a nation in 1898 when we became independent from Spain as we established a republic and a constitution. This strengthens our position that we were already a fulfledged independent and sovereign nation invaded by an equally independent nation- the Ameicans with the subtle coordination of the Chinese. We cannot be their colony anymore but a resisting sovereign nation. Our fight against them is not anymore a revolution but a resistance. And since we have not finished our resistance against them up to today (American and Chinese with the collaboration of GMA, still control our military, economy and education), it is indeed the duty not only of the soldiers among us, but of all of us Filipinos to continue this legitimate action.

    This action Col Torres, is a legitimate action. Contradictory to that is treason. We are carrying out what Gen Yano precisely described as, the centuries old tradition of the Filipino soldier.

  10. balweg - February 23, 2009 10:39 pm

    Kita mo kesyo paawa epek pa ang mga kumag na ito like they said, “It shall remain free from partisan politics and true to its mandate to protect the Filipino people and to preserve the integrity of the country.”

    Alam pala nila itong free from partisan politics at to protect the Filipino people e nagdagdag pa ng preserve the integrity of the country…Inang nating lahat, kaya nagkaletse-letse ang Pinas dahil sa double-talk ng mga iyan.

    Bohol became a destination distinct from Cebu since it defeated the terrorist insurgency with community initiatives led by the power tandem of Rico Aumentado and General Johnny Gomez, now the NCR commander.

  15. Patton - February 23, 2009 11:52 pm

    I didn’t see the name of Maj. Gen. Renato Miranda? Why?

  16. TonGuE-tWisTeD - February 23, 2009 11:58 pm

    Nag-usap ba man lang muna sila bago inilabas yang manifesto?

  17. TonGuE-tWisTeD - February 24, 2009 12:06 am

    Patton Says:
    I didn’t see the name of Maj. Gen. Renato Miranda? Why?

    Miranda is probably preparing to leave detention already.

    Thanks, Tongue, for the backgrounder.

  20. balweg - February 24, 2009 12:25 am

    Chi,

No, no, no, no, no…………..

    My blog is out of topic. The ammount is 347 milyon pesos. Kung yun ngang 70 milyon na sumabog daw sa hagdanan sa isang building sa Makati ay pinag-interisan, how much more ang 347 milyon pesos.

  25. balweg - February 24, 2009 3:44 am

    Syria,

    Ang declaration of unit and solidarity of BGen.

Till now pinagtatalunan pa ito eh!

    Tidbit:
    Folks nabigla ako sa aking natisod dito sa isang newstand sa internet inaantok na ako e biglang namurilat ang aking mga eyes, aba naman e ito ang nasusulat…Inang natin po, “…Press Secretary Cerge Remonde said President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will remain a “good daughter of the (Catholic) Church” and will reject calls to bring back capital punishment.

    “Expected natin na mangyayari yan. Pero we stick by our stand, lalo na si Pangulong Gloria, isang good daughter of the Church [We expect such calls to come. But we stick by our stand, especially Mrs. Arroyo, who is a good daughter of the Church],” he said in an interview on dzXL radio.

    Ellen: pwede bang mailagay mo dito kung sino sinong generals retired or active signed..kung pwede nga lahat ng pumirma..would 50 names be too much each day? Kung hindi mamatay si General Mataray Army cheat sa bala o sa sakit..sa takot each second baka matuluyan na..if the names of those who are for the people are published we will know who are for us..malaman natin kung sino ang mga duwag sa kanila..

Pinoy din ang nag set-up kay Macario Sakay the president of Tagalog Republic.

    “(#4) The AFP in all ranks and at all levels of command shall remain loyal to the constitution and the duly constituted authorities”

    In my opinion, the AFP’s statement through Col. Torres is defending BG Lim’s Declaration of Unity and Solidarity. This message, though short is very strong. My interpretation is as follows:

    Nos. 1 & 2 – justifies the group’s action was lawful and needs support. The threat to our national security is the regime itself. Its corruptions, injustices, failure to protect the nation from drugs, and etc., all contributes to the death of democracy and the nation as a whole.

    No. 3 – Ret. Gen. Johnny Gomez is being used by the group to pretend that he does not belong to the group. In reality, he will be used by the group to eavesdrop on the regime. It is likely that the Palace will call him for information about the group. He will be there to confuse the Palace.

    No. 4 – The AFP knows very well that the present regime, GMA to be more specific is not a duly constituted authority. She stole and cheated her presidency.

    No. 5 – The military remains apolitical and should appropriate action to regain the integrity of the country.

    No 6 – the military’s sworn duty is to protect the constitution. The present regime is known to be very unconstitutional. It is the military’s duty to restore the constitution by first, kicking out the unconstitutionally seated president.

  35. Valdemar - February 24, 2009 6:55 am

    Haphazards belong to the realm of propaganda. Publishing the manifesto prematurely can not achieve the impact desired even on a commemoration of an infamous revolution. It has to speak the truth, but now comes the retractions. First, we are not even sure how many of those ‘signatories’ are no longer Pinoys, and how many supporters are serving other flags and only want to see us reel again in another failed attempt. Its like in a burial someone pushes you into the hole.

  36. TonGuE-tWisTeD - February 24, 2009 7:53 am

    syria, I don’t buy your #3. This is supposed to be an act of solidarity. Who will take them seriously if they can’t even guarantee 100% accuracy?

    I am inclined to believe that the term “military intelligence” is a paradox.

  37. TonGuE-tWisTeD - February 24, 2009 7:57 am

    I’d like to rephrase the last line: “The more I am inclined to believe

  38. TonGuE-tWisTeD - February 24, 2009 8:01 am

    He will be there to confuse the palace.” – syria

    Nah, as a matter of fact, he confuses me and maybe, other people, too, who are invited to join the solidarity movement

  39. grizzy - February 24, 2009 8:49 am

    Balweg:

    “…the term “military intelligence” is a paradox.” I read somewhere that the term is an oxymoron.

  41. grizzy - February 24, 2009 9:10 am

    Balweg: But ang Pinoy e pagnalingat ka pwede kang ibenta? Yan ang nangyari during the rebolusyon…di ba si Aguinaldo ang nagpapatay sa magkapatid na Bonifacio? Pinoy din ang nag set-up kay Macario Sakay the president of Tagalog Republic.

    *****
    In short, marami bang dugong aso sa Pilipinas?

    Iyong Treaty of Paris ay napirmahan noong December 10, 1898 kaya from that date, in paper, pag-aari na ng Amerika ang Pilipinas. Full occupation followed after the misunderstanding with the Spaniards regarding the inclusion of the Philippines in the treaty with the Spaniards ownership of the Philippines still was ironed out. Malinaw ang provision ng Treaty of Paris tungkol sa Pilipinas, specifying that “Spain would cede to the United States the archipelago known as the Philippine Islands, and comprehending the islands lying within the a specified line.”

    Natural para hindi makahirit ang mga kastila, nagpadala agad ang Amerika ng regiment sa Pilipinas by the beginning no doubt of 1899 even when the treaty was actually ratified in February 1899 by the US Senate.

  44. TonGuE-tWisTeD - February 24, 2009 9:18 am

    Thanks, Orly. “oxymoron” nga pala, hehehe. Hirap nitong maraming gamot, gulo ng utak. Hindi ako sanay ma-groggy.

    Re: 4. The AFP in all ranks and at all levels of command shall remain loyal to the constitution and the duly constituted authorities;

    And those who have forgotten or who intend to forget this solemn duty by members of the AFP should be constantly reminded of this military tenet.

    We all know that Gloria and her cabal of usurpers are not the duly constituted (as in CONSTITUTION) authorities.

    Until we all put closure to the shenanigans committed by Gloria, Piggy Arroyo, the military scalawags who supported them, their civilian counterparts, Davide, et al, and until they are arrested, judged and convicted for their crimes in 2001 committed against the Republic and against the Filipino people, this whole military tenet will mean nothing, absolutely nothing because gunghoism in the military will be a continuing exercise.

  46. AdeBrux - February 24, 2009 10:12 am

    Extraordinary that the Philippines more than 100 years after it “freed” itself from the shackles of Spanish moral slavery still hasn’t gotten rid of its subservient mentality to the morally corrupt personalities who control the nation; so very Africa like – primitive and tribal.

    Frankly, nothing wrong with itas. At least the itas have pride — they live their lives regardless of Gloria and her cabal moral dwarves. They don’t bow to the rules of the so-called advanced civilisation. They don’t give a shit about what others say and by guum, for that alone, they are far more worthy of praise and respect of those who believe they have a “higher” station in life.

  47. AdeBrux - February 24, 2009 10:13 am

    Ooops, “…they are far more worthy of praise and respect THAN those who believe they have a “higher” station in life.”

  48. AdeBrux - February 24, 2009 10:14 am

    I would respect the itas of the hinterlands far more than I would a military officer who sold his soul to moral dwarves!

    It seems that the palace is very disturbed by the funding of the publishing of the Declaration of Unity and Solidarity. They are very much aware that money this days talk a lot. The threat therefore is proportional to the funders capacity.

  50. MPRivera - February 24, 2009 1:53 pm

    itong si eltikol ernesto torpes, oo!

    ibig ba niyang sabihin ay talagang pinaninindigan niya ang pagkilala kay gloria bilang kanyang presidente kahit alam niyang MANG-AAGAW NA MANDARAYA’T SINUNGALING ang bruhang babaeng ‘yun?

    nagmamadali ‘atang maging full pledged colonel and in a month’s time ay malalaglag ang mga bituin sa kanyang balikat.

    SIPSEP!!!!!!

  51. MPRivera - February 24, 2009 2:09 pm

  52. parasabayan - February 24, 2009 2:29 pm

    It is very sad indeed that the AFP we now have is reduced to Armed Forces of the Pidals. It is solely functioning to protect the pandak and her family and not the people. Killings are on the rise. Drugs line up the streets and have invaded the youth. Lawlessness is a common occurence. Corruption is in all levels of the government. Yet, the AFP is just guarding ONLY the PIDAL family and no other else!

    So, if General Lim and some of the incarcerated officers step up to the plate to PROTECT the people from this abusive and oppressive UNELECTED president, more power to them!

  53. MPRivera - February 24, 2009 2:29 pm

    from: Who is Danny Lim? by Romeo Lim, Colonel (Ret)

    “…..I take my hat off to this officer and gentleman whose values and principles seem to be dying traits in this mess of an AFP. We need more people like him if we are to even hope to lift our country out the quagmire it is in.

    So today, I greet all the other people who are not like BGen.

  54. MPRivera - February 24, 2009 2:43 pm

    4. The Armed Forces of the Pidals, in all ranks and at all levels of command shall remain loyal to the PROSTITUTION and the duly PROSTITED authorities;

    ‘yan ang lumabas noong aking ibabad sa tubig ‘yung papel na aking napulot kung saan nakasulat ang maniPWestong ‘yan!

  55. MPRivera - February 24, 2009 2:44 pm

    “…..and the duly PROSTITUTED authorities;”

  56. MPRivera - February 24, 2009 2:45 pm

    ‘ayun!

  58. Ellen - February 24, 2009 11:07 pm

    Re:ERAP-CJ Puno-Danny Lim triumvirate.

    Tongue, are you referring to the article by Alejandro Lichauco? I think that’s his wish. I doubt if that has gone beyond wish.

  59. bitchevil - February 24, 2009 11:32 pm

    Tongue, those who plan to run for public office are wise enough to join the opposition groups instead of administration. It’s like Republicans vs Democrats. And when we speak of opposition, we refer to Erap’s camp. That’s why many politicians and aspiring to be are wooing Erap. That’s the reality whether you’re a fan of Erap or not.

  60. bitchevil - February 25, 2009 1:57 am

    Erap-CJ Puno-Danny Lim…a very strong team. With Lim and Trillanes at the Senate, it makes a lot of difference.

  61. MPRivera - February 25, 2009 1:16 pm

  62. parasabayan - February 25, 2009 1:34 pm

    Magno, I agree with you 100%. Although Erap is loved dby the masa, he is more effective being the Godfather na lang.

  64. bitchevil - February 25, 2009 11:27 pm

    I also agree that Erap should hang up his gloves politically. But the fact remains that his endorsement to any candidate helps a lot.

  65. parasabayan - February 26, 2009 4:33 am

    BE, undoubtedly, Erap’s endorsement will be a sure win! He has to pick the right people though. In one of the articles in the Tribune, Manong Ernie Maceda put Enrile and Miriam on top of the list of senatoriables. I do not know if that was Erap’s line up. Knowing that Manong Erning Maceda is in Erap’s camp, having these characters on Erap’s list stirs my curiousity.

    1 GUARDIANS NATIONALIST of THE PHILS., INC.

    It has been an open book that running an effective organization means having the confidence that it will do well, not only now, but also in the future. And what better way to prepare in the future as to have strong-willed and dedicated national leaders to polish and strengthen our ranks in the face of our ruthless enemies.
    We are fully aware that our brotherhood, the GUARDIANS organization, in more than two (2) decades of its existence as a non-sectoral group, is slowly being engulfed by the fires of poverty, political power, war and corruption, and by this, we recognized our brethren’s clamor for a CHANGE and their DESIRE for a NEW BREAD of LEADERS who will steer us towards our common vision, mission and objectives.
    In view of the above, since we are aspiring for the collective vision of a GUARDIANS brotherhood of peace, progress and prosperity, we have chosen BGEN DANILO “SGF DELTA” LIM to be the NATIONAL ADVISER OF 1 GUARDIANS NATIONALIST OF THE PHILS. (GANAP/GUARDIANS) INC. effective February 25, 2009 for the following reasons:

    He has the impeccable character to lead with moral authority;

    He has the essential leadership qualities to steer us towards our vision;

    He has consistently displayed uncommon valor and patriotism in the face of extremely difficult situations.

    Let it be understood, that the appointment of BGEN DANILO “SGF DELTA” LIM as NATIONAL ADVISER of 1 GANAP/ GUARDIANS is not in any manner connected with any attempt to overthrow the present government but to put him in the national consciousness of the GUARDIANS brotherhood organization as an emerging new leader with moral authority to UNITE all GUARDIANS group into one solid and cohesive GUARDIANS organization.

    The present organizational stand of the 1 GANAP/GUARDIANS is that, it will still remain committed to legal, constitutional, democratic and long-term building institution programs for the nation and society.
