Shocked

  1. Among those who condemn the recent manhandling of Ted Failon’s group, I want to ignore Kiko Pangilinan’s. If there’s anyone who should be charged for obstruction of justice is this Kiko who was called “Mr. Noted” during the canvassing of votes in Congress together with another idiot, Raul Goonzalez. Forget about Kiko. He’s trying to play the good guys for his political ambition in 2010.

What if there was no media and video during the arrests? Needless to say, the victims could have suffered worse in the hands of this Police goons. This makes us wonder and think about those poor victims who are helpless. If it could be done to a known personality like Ted Failon, what about ordinary citizens who get picked up from poor residential areas? In fact, many get killed even before reaching the Police Station.

    BE,

    Agree!
The video footage only proved to the whole world that in the Philippines, the Police is NOT the PROTECTOR of the people but the REAL Troublemakers! People should run AWAY from them instead of asking for help!

    PNP = Pulis na Patola

    PNP = Pulis Ni Pandak

    May karma din kayo.

  4. the problem with the police force in this country is you are presumed guilty first then you have to prove your innocence. Guilty until proven innocent.

  8. Hi Ellen!

Have you just changed the layout of your blog?

It’s all green — there is an icon spot (for your photo I suppose?) in the masthead but is empty. Is this normal?

  9. ADB,
I like the setting of this blog.

    Cocoy,

I agree!

  14. Yes, Anna. Finally Abe and jason of Ploghost got the time to have this new layout. This has more features which I can use to make this blog better. How do you like it?

    I think there’s already a phot.

I will also have to have my pictures changed later. pakuha pa ako.

  16. The above comment did not come from me but from someone who passed it to me recently. I cut and pasted it. Sorry for the vulgar post. I just find it bold but funny.

  17. Some people are raising the issue of the media sensationalizing the Failon case. ABS-CBN’s rating has gone up these last few days. I hope the media is not doing this at the expense of the tragedy.

  18. With your indulgence…off topic: US President Obama has proven to be very well liked domestically and internationally with less than 100 days in office. Over at the Latin Summit, he’s well received by other leaders including the worst critic Chavez of Venezuela. Cuba is opening her door to the US too. No other serious negative word from Iran. The Palestinian crisis has somewhat subsided. Obama looks like he’s the Star of the moment and Peacemaker of the world.

  19. Hey Cocoy! Are you that handsome young man in the pic?

By the way, how did you get your pic up there (I mean here)?

  20. BE,

Re: “No other serious negative word from Iran.”

Yes, but guess what? I don’t think it will last. As we speak, Israel is now seriously planning, gearing up to bomb Iran’s nuclear power central.

And if Obama doesn’t step in to douse water on the Israeli hotheads, Iran might not be so silent anymore.

Again the PNP exceeded itself by being ignoramus of the process…It maybe a self-inflicted “suicide” or “murder” of the clumsiest type, but the way they go about dealing with the tragedy is still out of this world and it could only because of two things, incompetence or prejudice, whichever, either is unacceptable…

  22. Oo nga, Cocoy. How do we put our photo in our comments?

“the problem with the police force in this country is you are presumed guilty first then you have to prove your innocence. Guilty until proven innocent.”

Well, it all actually depends on which side of the fence one sits. Pag kakampi, innocent until proven otherwise. Pag kalaban, guilty even if proven innocent.

  24. teddy agbayani teddy agbayani

isa lang ang problem ng police dito sa atin at iyan ay PULIS SILA NI PIDAL. let us not forget though injustice secretary raul gonzales who is also meddling. obvious all of them are out to get even with failon.

  25. tama ka jan teddy … PNP is Pulis Ni Pidal. do bad like me and i promote you. kick my enemies and give you star on your shoulder. shame my critics and you,ll be in trhe cabinet of my lady ( i mean my GMA not my KHO ). mike arroyo

  26. The Failon family is grieving and the wake is not open for public coz its being “commercialized”. Many people have doubts in their mind upon hearing the story especially when they learned the couple had a serous fight the night before, but after presenting the evidence and hearing testimonies of the victim’s family, clearing Ted of wrongdoing, it’s getting clearer that the case is indeed suicide. However, there are obvious lapses or doubts still exist as to how they (Failon family and household) handled the case, they reported the suicide quite late, the crime scene was sanitized. Considering Ted was well aware of criminal procedure having studied law, a congressman and police beat reported once. I personally sympathize with him. His loss and these media bruhaha. The police has reason to doubt the household. BUT, a very big BUT, some police showed brutality, stupidity and disrespect to the victims and her family.

This is a good case for study. I’m particularly interested to know why New Era Hospital allowed such inside their private hospital. There are new cops (who just took over the post) handling the case. The incoming and outgoing CIDU chief are both in the area. That was the first time we saw so many high ranking police officials handling a simple suicide case.

  27. Mike Mike

If you go by their testimonies or should I say, interviews. Ted never said he told his house helps to clean the bathroom and the pajero. It was the house helpers who did it on their own volition.

On wanting to have privacy, Ted and even the other media outlets should’ve thought of the meaning of privacy whenever they cover stories similar to this.. i.e., death, accidents, etc..

  28. There’s now another theory. The reason for the alleged suicide was not about money, but Ted’s womanizing. He has another woman. Do I believe it? Not yet.

“No other serious negative word from Iran.” – BE

You’re skipping the newsreel about Iran. Hot issue right now in Iran is the imprisonment of US Journalist Roxana Saberi (Iranian-American) accused of espionage. A closed court hearing was done Saturday, and she was given an eight year prison sentence. Barack and Hilary are on their toes as we speak. News worth watching of the outcome.

  32. TruBlue TruBlue

Murder, corruption, disappearing journalists/activists – just another circus of the Philippines Opera. Ganti-gantihan lang yan.

The only positive I’ve noticed on this investigation was the negative paraffin tests on Ted. As corrupt as the cops are (as most would say), the authorities could have turned the table upside down against Ka Etong.

“However, there are obvious lapses or doubts still exist as to how they (Failon family and household) handled the case, they reported the suicide quite late, the crime scene was sanitized.” -BE

Suicide cases still carry the stigma even if these were already decriminalized. I’d say, it’s one incident nobody would want to talk about, much less, report.

Each time someone talks about a suicide committed by somebody very close (the wife, in Ted’s case), the person relives the event over and over again.

At this point, I wouldn’t consider conflicting versions of the story as lapses… not yet, at least. Sariwa pa ang sugat.

Even if there were, indeed, attempts to cover the suicide up, I can still understand that. Remember, those who were left behind must also protect and defend the dignity of the one who committed suicide, at times, even at their own risk.

And guess what, I think, it would even be emotionally easier for Ted to say that he killed his wife than to admit that his wife committed suicide at this point.

We will never truly understand Ted’s ‘lapses’ if we haven’t gone through what he is going through right now.

    Opinyon ko lang….

  35. Iran has her intelligence agency just like other countries. That Iranian-American journalist could really be a spy. There are foreign spies disguised as diplomats and journalists. It’s a common practice. Anyway, isn’t she a beauty!

  36. kabute kabute

It won’t be a surprise if those policemen involved in the false arrest of Ted Failon and company are later promoted even while still suspended. Just recall those policemen involved in the kidnapping of Jun Lozada. How happy they are now after giving Lozada a scare, they are now enjoying the fruits of their terror by thier ill-deserved promotions. Mabuhay kayong mga pulis – patola sa impierno! Ganyan kagalit na ang tao.

  37. Bullseye, Ka Enchong! What I had in mind all the time.

But listen, I had an ex-girlfriend who had a grandaunt who tried to commit suicide by downing 300 Valium tablets after her divorce. Her family’s first reaction was to keep it to themselves and talked only to close relatives, they were lucky the guard at the hospital wasn’t an eager-beaver a box of KFC silenced him. The guard’s logbook says heart attack. No need to inform the cops. But she died 2 days later of pneumonia.

Now, if the person survived the suicide and died from another case like that of my ex-gf’s grandaunt, life insurance would be paid. While if the suicide killed her, she would be denied insurance payment.

If the Etong’s were desperate for money, I’m sure they’d rather make-up a story that she was killed by an outsider and collect insurance.

    Anyone knows if she’s insured?

  38. A rich businessman and good friend, a certain Delfin Lee, was there. There was a report that he helped Ted brought down Trina and then to hospital. Who was this Delfin Lee and what was he doing at Ted’s house at that time?
