Hindi pa sinasabi ni Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III. ang kanyang desisyon kung siya ay tatakbo sa pagka-presidente na siyang panawagan ng iilang mga kolumnista at sinasabing eksperto sa pulitika.
Ngunit sa himig ng kanyang pananalita, parang natatanto ko na sa ngayon, mas nahihiling siya kung saan siya ngayon: sa Senado.
Guest si Noynoy sa “Strictly Politics” sa ANC noong Martes at sinabi niya na sa tatlong konsiderasyun na kanyang basehan ng kanyang desisyon.
Ang isa doon sa dalawa ay ang opinyun ng kanyang mga kapatid. Sabi ni Noynoy, hindi boto si Pinky at si Viel. Si Kris naman nagsabi siya noong ininterview siya sa Manila Memorial Park noong pansiyam na araw ng pagkamatay ni Pangulong Cory Aquino na “ayaw ni Mom” yan.
Si Noynoy lang kasi ang lalaki sa magkapatid at sianbi niyang ipinangako niya sa kanyang Nanay na siyang magtatayo na padre de pamilya at hindi niya pababayaan ang kanyang mga kapatid. Sinabi rin ni Noynoy na ipinagbilin sa kanya ng kanyang Tatay na si Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. ang kanyang pamilya nang siya pa ay nakakulong nang panahon ng diktaturyang Marcos.
Ang pangalawang konsiderasyon ay pera at organisasyon. Alam ni Noynoy na hindi basta-basta ang kampanya para pangulo. Sabi ng mga eksperto sa pulitiko, pinakababa ang P5 bilyon.
Ipinaala-ala ng mga umuudyok sa kanya na ang kampanya ng nanay niya laban kay Marcos ay kampanya ng taumbayan. Lahat-lahat nag-kontribusyon.
Alam ni Noynoy na kahit na malaki sa pagmamahal ng taumbayan sa tatay at nanay niya ay maari niya ring makuha, iba ang sitwasyon noong 1986 at sa ngayon. Anak siya ni Cory at Ninoy. Hindi siya si Cory. Hindi siya si Ninoy.
Sabi ni Noynoy ang pinakamahalaga na konsiderasyon niya ay ang sagot sa tanong na “Ang pagtakbo ko ba bilang pangulo ay talagang magre-resulta sa pagbabago ng bayan?”
Sabi niya, hindi lang yung itataas lang niya ang pag-asa ng taumbyan, tapos wala ring mangyari.
Alam niyang maraming paraan na maipagpatuloy niya ang mga adhikain ng kanyang mga magulang at hindi kailangan na tatakbo siya sa pagkapangulo sa 2010. Ngunit alam at ramdam niya ang responsibilidad na nakapatong sa kanya bilang anak ni Ninoy at Cory.
Humanga ako kay Noynoy sa kanyang mga pahayag. Tumaas ang tingin ko sa kanya.
Si Noynoy kasi mabait at hindi arogante. Hindi siya pabongga sa kanyang trabaho. Kaya akala ng marami kayang-kaya siyang utuin.
Ibang Noynoy ang nakikita ko ngayon. May sariling panindigan. Alam ang realidad sa mundo at sa paligid niya. May karakter. Ang ang pinakamahalaga, nagagawa niyang itulak ang kanyang panindigan sa mahinahon na paraan.
Humanga na ako sa kanya nuong burol ni Pangulong Cory sa kanyang desente ngunit ma-prinsipyong pakitungo kay Gloria Arroyo.
Anak talaga siya ni Ninoy at Cory.
Susundan ko siya ng maigi sa larangan ng pulitika. Balang araw, mamayagpag rin siya. Hindi muna ngayon.

2010 to me is more than the year an evil regime is banished, and a fresh start for this miserable nation. But hope for recovery is contingent on a President that is rock-firm on decency, and the emerging candidates are not inspiring. So, like Diogenes, I continue my search for an honest man to lead the nation. Until now.
Noynoy, the humble bachelor who exudes an aura of decency, is my choice for President if he can be persuaded. Lack of maturity for statesmanship? That was also an objection hurled against his mother Cory.

Noynoy is not yet ready for the really really big time politics. It is even doubtful if he belongs to the presidential league. His only qualification is that his last name is Aquino and his middle name is Cojuangco, both political kingpins in their home province of Tarlac.
Besides his honesty and humbleness he has not shown and proven anything so far. Why the yellow society group is pushing him as their top dog is not surprising. They had been out of the power loop for some time now and they are toying with the idea that the passing away of Cory is their best chance to be “in” again. Now that is really something. The country sympathized with the family but riding in the sympathy of people who mourned with them does not necessary mean that it will translate to handing Noynoy the presidency. Huwag naman nilang pahinugin sa pilit dahil hindi ito magiging matamis kundi mapait. His winnability is not even an issue. He doesn’t have what it takes to be one AS OF NOW.
In the meantime my message to him: Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. It may not be the fastest and express way to get from A to Z, but it is an efficient and time-honored method that offers the certainty of success. Who knows you might make it one day.

For me, anyone but Gloria is fine with me. Even if her anointed one wins, I’m pretty sure it’s going to be better than Gloria. But choosing the better president among the wannabes is another story altogether.
As for Noynoy, he is obviously the better one among the possible presidential candidates in terms qualities and reputation. So far, I’ve not heard of anything bad about him, I mean not tainted with graft nor being abusive in power. Heck, he doesn’t even own a house. But having said that, question still lingers through my mind… is he ready? Capable? Well, his mom, President Cory seems to be in the same situation years back when she was “forced” into the presidency.. not prepared. Her administration is not without anomalies and scandals too, thanks to those around her then that made her look bad. Good thing she is there not for anything else but to see to it that democracy is finally restored. She has the heart for change, does Noynoy has it too?

I know why they’re using Korina to hit at Mar. But I’m not sure I understand why people are even falling for it. AFAIK, Korina has been constantly attacking in her radio shows the medical professionals, hospitals, and big pharma for her personal experience during her mom’s sickness. As far as Mar is concerned, it was his parallel importation of medicines during Erap’s term that got him into trouble with big pharma, insiders claim they have hired major PR consultants to demolish the duo. Billions have been lost due to Roxas’, (then later, Obet Pagdanganan’s) crusade against expensive meds.
Pagdanganan has been demolished, he lost in the senate in 2007, and his reputation further blackeyed by his brother who was arrested for, what else, drugs!
