Antonio Trillanes IV at Brig. Gen.

Ito rin ang nasa-isip ni Diego K. Guerrero sa kanyang sinulat a aking blog: “I don’t see any handcuffs or restrains to the suspect. Maliwanag na special treatment para sa Ampatuan. Kapag ordinaryong mamayan ang suspek sigarong bubog sarado bago pusasan. During the Manila Peninsula incident, some media men were handcuffed before they were hauled to Camp Bagong Diwa for processing. Obstruction of justice daw ang kaso nila.

true in the bigger Picture. Her careless decision making of appointing personnel at the PNP/AFP level. She is not HOWEVER the PROXIMATE CAUSE but can be CONTRIBUTORY. The person who she appointed to implement the rule of law has a more direct responsibility.

The Primary responsibility must start at the local level, then who oversees the local government, then the house, then the Senate then the commission of AFP/ PNP. These people are all negligent to their duties.

It’s not only in Maguinadanao. If we have to recall incidents of death during an election, there were plenty. Both candidates and rival candidates will kill anybody as long as one will win. ” Whatever it takes ” and conscious disregard for our nation’s well being is still a common practice among the many of them .. God Bless.

  2. It’s more of her coddling the Ampatuans because of her debt of gratitude to them for giving here the votes that offset the lead of FPJ in Central and Northern Luzon. The Hello Garci votes.

[ ] YES (Papanagutin pati si GMA and her cohorts.)

[ ] NO (Hindi siya accountable sa Magindanao massacre.)

    [ ] No Comment! (Walang paki….!)

    Yes 100%…..!

  6. Balweg, you are giving me an idea for a column with your multiple choice.

that can be true.. but here’s what I have said at Manolo’s:

The lack of national and effective military governance leaves the provinces outside of central control, with warlords filling the vacuum. Regional actors question the government’s capacity to provide basic public goods and undermine its authority by controlling alternative resources through a variety of mechanisms, including fraudulent collection of votes and promising its local people a future without a foundation. Consequently, the bewildered local people does not know what to believe.
With this power, the local warlord can easily negotiate a weak administration. It can do whatever including at the end… blackmailing the weak president ( hello Graci) but will evenutally destroy his own.

In addition: warlords are not DEPENDENT. They are also not loyal. They can change party only to his benefit.

murder in Maguindanao was a clear consequence when central authority has either losses its power or has weakened. Warlords will compete for power through violence or intimidation. He will continue to seek popular allegiance on the basis of the fear and insecurity generated by the absence of reliable central authorities. The Ampatuan’s clan can therefore ACT INDEPENDENTLY if not put to jail. He can change party at any given time to benefit only his own. He cannot be loyal but will play the game of big business. He is also not interested to fix the bigger problem of a weak State but will instead take advantage of it. There’s not much difference between elitism and warlordism except intense violence. Both are burden to our nation’s health

GMA must remove herself from any political consideration. GIBO and Noynoy and the rest must do the same. Warlords are warlords. their LOCAL POWER must be taken away.

Thx.

    ^..^

Was just reading the column of Ninez Olivares of Tribune, she has a point. How can Gloria run for congressman in her district of Lubao when she didn’t meet the 1 year residency requirement before the election? Someone should file a disqualification case against her once she files her COC.

  10. Mike Mike

    O.T.

Someone told me that Col. Ariel Querubin has joined Manny Villar’s NP. Is this true?

The lack of national and effective military governance leaves the provinces outside of central control, with warlords filling the vacuum.

  13. asiandelight asiandelight

yes, all warlords are the same…. they will only differ in their ways of milking the system. They have their own local people in their hands. The votes of the local majority is their negotiating power. pareho lang sila…

  14. Tedanz Tedanz

  15. Mike re your question:”Someone told me that Col. Ariel Querubin has joined Manny Villar’s NP. Is this true?”

Yes. Col. Ariel Querubin is in Villar’s ticket.

  16. There were talks that the Mangudadatus were the ones who hid Garcillano when he disappeared after he came back from abroad before he came out in public. Remember he was in a Muslim garb during his first TV interview?

  17. Tedanz Tedanz

Glorya.

  20. Statement of the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches

We, members of the Evangelical community, convey our deepest sorrow and share the enormous grief and anguish of our fellow citizens in Mindanao, the whole nation, and the international community, for the tragic and untimely loss of brothers and sisters who were mercilessly murdered in broad daylight last November 23, 2009, in the municipality of Ampatuan, Maguindanao Province. There is no adequate expression of what we feel and carry in our hearts. It is a most unfortunate event.

We condemn in the strongest possible way this senseless act of carnage against unarmed and helpless civilians – women of the Mangudadatu clan, women-lawyers, media practitioners, indigenous peoples representative(s), and other members of the delegation – all were there in their line of duty, including unborn children and innocent travelers on that ill-fated day.

We lament because of this mass killing. It is a barbaric and savage act, with complete disregard to the rule of law, human rights, dignity and even sanity.

We are one with the families of the victims and all people of peace who cry for immediate justice.

We ask our government to use all its powers to apprehend all the perpetrators and apply the full force of the law to address this heinous crime.

We join others in calling for the creation of an independent body to conduct a thorough and timely investigation of the Maguindanao massacre and to recommend prosecutions and such further actions required by law.

We ask for churches and other faith groups to open their premises to serve as “sanctuaries” or “safe space” to all those who are helping in the process of uncovering the truth of this incident who may likely be under attack and may need protection.

We call on all for sobriety, to continue to pray for peace, a transformation of the hearts and minds, the ending of the cycle of violence, and the healing of our land.

We pray that more people will get to really know the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who taught us to “love your enemies”, “love your neighbors as yourselves” and who on the cross, prayed for those who killed Him and said: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.”

    Signed: Board of Directors
    Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches

  21. That is the consequence of abusing power and wealth, I think Glueria and her minions and the direct perpetrators of this crime are all responsible for this atrocity.

  22. Statement of the Government of France through its Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs

France condemns in the strongest terms the heinous massacre perpetrated yesterday in the Philippine province of Maguindanao, which, according to the latest reports, has reached a total of forty-six victims, mostly women and journalists.

It expresses its sincere condolences to the families of victims, and assures the Philippine authorities of its complete solidarity and of its trust that those responsible for this unspeakable massacre are effectively prosecuted, arrested, tried and convicted.

As the Philippine people will appoint a new president in May, it is essential that all conditions are met for a peaceful election campaign.

  23. asiandelight asiandelight

Thank you Ellen for the time. The current administration are also warlords who uses it’s own power to hide their guilt. The bigger picture is very obvious. The people are unrepresented. I am also sensing that the next president will do the same. Promise the people all the good things but the process of delivery across the many levels of goverment will be very impossible to implement unless local representatives are honest. Pareho Lang sila … Puro palpak…, kelan pa bah. I will grow old witnessing the same old corrupt Philippines.

  24. baguneta baguneta

  26. parasabayan parasabayan

I missed blogging for a week but I watched the news about the massacre whenever I could. The palaces of the Ampatuans clearly show that these politicians made money and abused their power while in office.

I also observed something about this Mangudadatu. He is more obsessessed in running for a position than he is with getting justice for his wife (maybe he has more of them on the side). The fact that he himself was an ally to the Ampatuans and probably their henchman at some point makes me wonder if this man is the new “annointed” of the boobuwit. I am very suspicious!

I am also wondering why Gibo seem to be always there beside him. He is no longer the DND chief. Ito ba ang linuto nila Kenney (bago siya alisin sa pwesto) at ni Gibo before they both hanged their hats. It is the worst publicity stunt for Gibo! He is riding on a highly politically motivated feud. If Gibo knows what is best for him, he should not even be seen with these feuding families. I do not like to speculate but I remember when Hillary said that the best time to act is when one is on his/her way out of his/her office. Can this be what she was referring to? Is this a clear purging of those who made the boobuwit a president?

Mangudadatu was all smiles each time he is on TV, no tears whatsoever kahit man lang “crocodile” tears man lang. I do not know if I can trust this man too. He may just be as notorious as the ampatuans. I hope that our moslem brothers will discern the good, the bad and the ugly. They should scrutinize this Mangudadatu before voting for him. For all they know is is just like replacing Erap with the boobuwit!

asiandelight at #23: Bakit mo sasabihin na “the people are unrepresented.”

The leaders of the Philippines are chosen by the voters of the Philippines.

  28. asiandelight asiandelight

    tingog boss,

true.. “ibinoto nang pilipino ” but what did the filipinos get from their votes?
    1. terror
    2. the most corrupt in Asia
    3. The nation of servants
    4. The most dangerous place for journalists
    5. On Index 2009 Index on economic Freedom what does that tell you…

So you think the votes of the Filipino people were respected and represented according to the people’s wants and needs? ” of the people, by the people and for the people”

are you saying that the filipinos are also stupid for voting the wrong person in office?

Regardless f the stupidity of the majority , the votes of the people should be reciprocated not abused. If the people made a mistake of voting GMA and even if she cheated, it does not excuse her from performing her DUTY according to the rule of law. All of the above 1-5… are the result of poor governance .

The bewildered voters don’t know who to believe. Too bad, 1000 pesos is also allowed to buy a vote by this government….

  29. asiandelight asiandelight

So if the filipino people vote for the wrong president again, what is then the function of local representative? is it not to impeach a wrong president?

the facts above “1 to 5” will confirm that the people are unrepresented.. right ?

to go back to the topic… why can’t Mangandadatu mourn for the loss of his family. Do the local people really want him or somebody put him there?

  30. Asiandelight: Teka muna. Are you saying if NoyNoy gets elected and his lack of competence to govern means he can’t create jobs nor improve rice supply, then what — he should be impeached? I’m okay with that, I like Mar Roxas!! Heh heh heh

Islam is religion of PEACE. It was derived from the word Sala’am which means Peace. It is a religion based on understanding, harmony and respect.

The Ampatuans, Mangudadatus, the MNLF, the MILF, the Abu Sayyafs and the political warlords in all of Mindanao are Muslims, but why aren’t they live in its truest meaning? In its truest sense?

Whatever religion or belief one practices, when wealth and power come into picture, any solid foundation would be easily eroded. Greed will prevail. Just what is happening not only in Mindanao but in the entire Philippines SINCE the arroyos came into power. By grabbing first time and cheating next time.

This the legacy gloria and her family members will forever instill in every Filipino’s memory. A legacy every Filipino will spit on! By any Filipino who was not bought by gloria’s LIES and DECEIT.

“It’s also under the Arroyo administration that the Ampatuans are said to have expanded and strengthened their private army, composed of civilian volunteers enlisted and funded by the military.

Ms. Arroyo, however, may just be improving on something that Cory’s Constitution has allowed. The 1987 Constitution does not really provide the dismantling of private armies per se. Read carefully Section 24 of the Transitory Provisions—it bans only the private armies that are not sanctioned by government. But those that are “consistent with the citizen armed forced established in this Constitution”—like the civilian volunteer organizations formed by the military during Cory’s time—don’t have to go.”

The above statements was quoted from previous thread.

  37. asiandelight asiandelight

why is the Arroyo government not suspending the Ampatuan Sr. ? i think the filipino people and the media must file suit against the SR ampatuan.

Under Section 63 of Republic Act 7160 or the 1991 Local Government Code, preventive suspension may be imposed by the President, “if the respondent is an elective official of a province, a highly urbanized or an independent component city.”

So Arroyo can pevent suspension? the Sr. Ampatuan is as guilty as the son. Both are PROXIMATE Cause of this crime. No excuses…

The Ampatuans have long been powerful, since the days when they were members of the NAcionalista Party and coddled by Marcos himself. GMA merely exacerbated the problem by giving them more free rein.
