Last Wednesday, another detained Magdalo officer, Navy Ltsg James Layug filed his certificate of candidacy as representtive of the seond district of Taguig.

Layug,39, is a graduate of Philippine Military Class of 1995. He served in the Philippine Navy and was assigned in several posts throughout the country. He said he joined the July 27, 2003 Oakwood incident “to air out their grievances against a corrupt, inept, and oppressive regime.”

Running as an independent, Layug enjoined everybody to practice new politics: “Sama-sama nating isulong ang Bagong Pulitika.

Facing charges of mutiny for alleged attempt to withdraw support from Gloria Arroyo in February 2006 and Nov. 29, 2008 at the Manila Peninsula, Lim said,” I am not a fence sitter. I was never one and never will be.”

Last Saturday.Detained Marine Col. Ariel Querubin retired from military service. In a mass at St. Ignatius church, Querubin said he is going into politics to “restore honor and dignity of every Filipino through meaningful legislation.”

“I’m running to make my lifetime worthwhilw that every moment left of it will be dedicated in the service of country which I love very much and will continue to love unconditionally for as long as I shall live.

“I leave the service with no rancor in my heart. All was carefully planned and shaped by Destiny.

“I am glad that in leaving, I find peace with myself , my family and my God.

” I surrender my weapon before the altar of my Lord.”

Pero yong nakipagkutsaba kay Gloria, Cardinal Makasalanan, Yellow wannabees, C-5 lipat-bakod, civil socialites a.k.a.

Off topic: Ebdame is not running anymore. Wala na siyang clout sa madadayang Mindanao operators(the Ampatuans). Mahirap na siyang mandaya! Paiyak iyak pa. Pwede ba, tumigil ka na! Marami ka ng nakurakot. Magpahinga ka na!

  6. @Balweg
Elitista are the reason why Spanish and Americans were able to occupy our land because they became traitors, tapos ngayon they messed up our society because of EDSA 2 I just hope na tumigil na sila sa panggugulo sa bayan natin dahil pinahihirapan nila lagi ang lipunan natin at lalo na ang masa.

Soldiers are trained to follow orders, to survive the toughest test and to lead for the welfare of the rest.

They have only their honours to offer and their lives to give.

Let these gallant men continue serving our country which they loved so much. Let us help them liberate this land from the hands of the tyrants.

    God bless the Philippines!

Why Col. Ariel Querubin joined NP of Money Villar? ibig bang sabihin nub he believes the integrity and the leadership of Villar and that he also believes that Villar did not do any wrongdoing in C5 issue and land grabbing?

  23. eestrada eestrada

i feel a little uncomfortable with so many ex-soldiers (Querubin, Lim etc.) running for national positions. they may be honorable men, but their military mindset may not always jive with what’s best for our democracy.

  24. eestrada eestrada

oh and xman, please stop with the autistic line. it’s getting tiresome. why don’t you honor this blog with more intelligent musings instead? your attitude belongs to PEx, not in a serious politics and current events forum like this.

  25. MPRivera MPRivera

they may be honorable men, but their military mindset may not always jive with what’s best for our democracy.- eestrada

    Bading kasi, eh!

Kilala ng lahat ‘yun. Lalo na sa kanyang kaeklayan.

    Di ba, Atseng Romina?

  27. they may be honorable men, but their military mindset may not always jive with what’s best for our democracy.- eestrada

    Disagree.

There is no cut and dry “military mindset” as such. Often, the ones who have served in the military and possess a good professional military track record will defend and fight so that democracy prevails in a nation. They are the first ones to realise that conflict, military or otherwise, is not the best way forward for a nation to progress.

You will find that your so-called military mindset people are the first ones to say that war or military conflict is bad.

Obviously, a nation does have people with so-called military mindset but even then, these people are not professional military and more often than not, you find them in Africa or in the jungles of Columbia. Now, unless we liken the Philippine military to African military, then of course, all is lost.

  28. I am an equal-opportunity advocate. If movie stars, whose only political capital are their popularity, can be allowed to serve the country, why not ex-soldiers? They have hands-on experience down to the grassroots, their personal sacrifices are like no other professionals’. They are disciplined and follow social norms. I’m talking about the junior officers.

The generals, to me are all the same. No one becomes a general based solely on meritorious performance anymore. At some point, compromises are made with classmates, politicians, appointing/approving officers, usually in exchange for money or other favors.

  29. SULBATZ SULBATZ

“Why Col. Ariel Querubin joined NP of Money Villar?” (jpax)

For those who know, it is no wonder.

  30. SULBATZ SULBATZ

“The generals, to me are all the same. No one becomes a general based solely on meritorious performance anymore. At some point, compromises are made with classmates, politicians, appointing/approving officers, usually in exchange for money or other favors.” (TT)

You are 80% correct. The 20% are either in jail or out of the loop. Damn the 80%, deal fairly with the remaining 20.

  31. xman xman

oh and xman, please stop with the autistic line. it’s getting tiresome. why don’t you honor this blog with more intelligent musings instead? your attitude belongs to PEx, not in a serious politics and current events forum like this….eestrada.

    xxxxx

ekekestrada, this is the first I saw your name on this blog or maybe you are using another alias. Are you hurt when I said that Noynoy is autistic? The word autistic is a medical term and it is not like I am cursing to you, do I?
You can call Erap an AUSTISTIC man but I don’t care? Why would you care if I call Noynoy an AUTISTIC guy?

  32. eestrada eestrada

    MPRivera:

I’d just rather that ALL military men not dip their feet in politics.

    xman:

Ang ibig ko lang iparating sayo ay gamitin natin ang discussion na to in an intelligent manner. but then again your choosing to be shallow is a right protected by our democracy. so i’m sorry for telling you to cut it out. go ahead and enjoy your freedom.

  33. eestrada eestrada

May point ka adebrux. pero until the PMA starts producing more Trillanes-es and Querubins, and less Garcias and Esperons, that will be the time I’ll be confident na hinog ang mga produkto nila for national leadership. I am a son of a PMAer, and I can tell you that more than half his class got rich through illegitimate means even while they were junior officers. One of his classmates for example ay dating bata ng comptroller nung Kapitan pa lang siya. Now, he’s a mere brigade comptroller and yet he owns three SUV’s and a plush house in Laguna. Now if only the PMA can weed out these kinds of cadets early on.

  34. santong kabayo santong kabayo

so eestrada wala kang tiwala sa tatay mo? Hehe.

Sabi ko nga sa kabilang thread, ” Soldiers are trained to follow orders, to survive the toughest test and to lead for the welfare of the rest.

They have only their honours to offer and their lives to give.

Let these gallant men continue serving our country which they loved so much. Let us help them liberate this land from the hands of the tyrants.”

  37. santong kabayo santong kabayo

tama ka manong MPR pero yung opinyon ko lang ay nakaaangat agad ang mga sundalo pagdating sa ganung aspeto dahil sa matagal na panahong ginugugol para matrain at maindoctrinate sila. kaya tingin ko the best of them would make good leaders outside of the soldiery.
