Simula ngayon maari ng ipapatupad ng Commission on Elections ang kanilang regulasyon katulad ng limitasyon ng advertisements sa media. Siguro mabawas-bawasan na ang napakaraming TV ads lalo pa kay Manny Villar ng Nacionalista Party.
Kaya lang mukhang nakalamang na si Villar dahil itong mga nakaraang buwan talagang binaha niya ang TV ng kanyang advertisements. Sa tantya ko umabot na sa isang bilyon piso ang nagastos niya sa advertisements.
Kaya kahit may limitasyon na ngayon, okay lang kasi nakilala na siya ng mga botante sa buong bansa.
Depensa naman ni Villar sa mga bumabatikos sa kanya, pera nya raw yun at kaya raw ginagawa niya kasi ang nanay at tatay raw niya at hindi naman sikat at wala raw siyang kapatid na artista.
Bahala na ang botante kung maniniwala sa kanyang mga advertisements.
May limitasyon din ang Comelec sa dapat gagastusin ng bawat kandidato at political party. Ngunit mukha namang hindi angkop sa realidad dahil parang aabot lang yata ng kalahating bilyun ang maari gastusin. Sigurado lahat na kandidato lalabag sa regulasyon na ito at magsisinungaling pagdating sa pag-report sa Comelec pagkatapos ng eleksyun. Ang magsasabi ng totoo ng kanyang ginastos ang siguradong masasampahan ng kaso.
Noong isang araw, may nahuli ang mga pulis ng mga grupong nagdidikit ng political posters sa Avenida. Pinanghuli sila dahil ayun sa batas may lugar lang na dapat magkabit ng posters at hindi kung saan na saan na nagpapa-pangit ng kapaligiran. Sabi ng mga nagkakabit, hindi raw nila alam na may ganuoong batas. At trabaho lang naman ang sa kanila. P200 daw ang bayad sa kanila bawat isa.
Ang nakakatawa kasi ang poster na kanilang kinakabit ay kay Gordon at Bayani. Di ba si Bayani ang masyadong istrikto sa mga nagkakalat sa Metro Manila. Ang buhay nga naman.
Masyado namang obvious na ang major media outfits ay maka Noynoy. Pero ang tanong ko lang, kung sinasabi ninyo na si Noynoy ay hindi magnanakaw, pano naman ang Kamag-anak Inc. na nagpapakasasa noong panahon ni Cory?
Dahil ba sila ay kauri ay hahayaan na lang gaya ng pag payag ninyo kay Gloria na mangurakot?
Diba’t kayo rin mga yellow army ang may kagagawan kung bakit si Gloria ay nasa poder ngayon?
Ilang katanungan lang sa mga media, civil society at middle class:
Alam naman namin na ayaw ninyo kay Erap pero, bukod sa jueteng na bintang ni Singson, may iba pa ba kayong katibayan na nagnakaw si Erap sa kaban ng bayan?
Bakit kahit isang miyembro ng kanyang kabinete ay di nasangkot sa anumang anomalya at iskandalo?
Sana ay maging patas ang laban at hindi bulag sa katotohanan. Nagtatanong lamang po.

Trial by insinuation and allegations is part and parcel of elections. In other words, people who think Villar is guilty even if C5 has not hit the courts, they won’t vote for Villar. People who do not trust KamagAnak Inc, people who believe that Noynoy has flipflopped on Reproductive Health because he got cowered by the CBCP, they will not vote for Noynoy. People who believe that Erap was illegally ousted and who still believe in Erap as the better candidate will vote for Erap.
And then, there is 2nd-district-Pampanga which will elect GMA into the next Congress. Elections. Facts are not needed for voters to make up their minds.
P543 million na raw ang gastos ni Villarroyo on ads alone. Barya lang yan, more than P6 billion ang nakurakot nya sa C5 insertions.
Kahit gumastos pa sya ng one billion para bilhin ang lahat ng magpapaloko sa kanya, ganansya pa rin ng bilyunes ang kaisa-isang duwag na taga-Tondo.
The more I read about Villar and his corruption issues and how he spends his money by the billions for his political ads, the more it scares me to think that he might win. It shows a desperate man who wants to be the president, by hook or by crook. Much like Gloria, who up the last few days of her presidency, is still thinking of how to cling on to her stolen power. Come to think of it, Gibo is more tame in his quest for the presidency compared to Villar. 🙁

I am concern on Manny Villar’s campaign AD on TV. Children are used and it’s manipulative to the feelings of the voting public. Portraits of a candidate with his children or grandchildren will help to establish him as a “family man.” But the representation of anonymous or “real” but unrelated children can also play on a number of powerful emotions, including fear, anxiety, and hope for the future. Money Villar oversimplify concerns by stimulating emotions with extreme predictions about the future of our children that are based on short-lived or misleading information. Manny is most likely trying to indicate that children will not be safe in a country controlled by his opponent?
Is it legal? Not to me, I can interpret it as exploitation of children’s privacy especially if there’s no formal written parental consent. The abuse of lawlessness and the lack of legislation to protect the children’s privacy is not only of legal debate but of moral and ethical values. The use of children’s impressions is a violation of their right to privacy.
I have never understood the point of using children as trained symbols in political ads. Traditionally, children’s ad is more appropriate for school-related issues or initiatives. It appears to me that this is fundamentally de facto juvenile abuse. Looking at it differently also , it is primarily uncompensated child labor where paid child labor would be illegal. How can the adult voters by any means translate this in a positive way? In what manner the use of small children in political advertising says that the people behind or is being advertised either could not find a compelling adult to be in their ad, which is something you would think they would prefer to keep under wraps. Money Villar may have thought that voters are truly so pathetic that they would base their choices on misleading ad thru exploitation of children.
The children are the hope of our Nation. They should not be subject nor should be allowed to participate thru the BS of politics. They are too young. They should stay home, go to school and play…

Second remark: Villar, Cayetano, etc., must return the money, salary and stipend that they received for these absences. Otherwise they should be charged under theft laws if such laws exist in RP.

your analysis is enlightening. may i add, villar is capitalizing sa kanyang humble beginings, and also is capitalizing on our pinoy psyche, (another topic ito)villar is a quintessential machiavellian. years ago, he used to run after wealthy women. merong pinag aralan, di baleng di niya talaga mahal, low self-esteem, basta merong pera. he of course didn’t marry a woman who came from humble beginnings, and am not saying that mrs. villar has no self-esteem. niligawan niya ang kaibigan ko, who came from a known, wealthy family. kaso, ang nanay niyang kaibigan ko, ayaw kay villar. during those years, money was a soft spoken man, trying hard to please people, or anybody who can be useful to him down the road. (parang si imelda) villar is always going to the next level. my friend went to europe, and when she went back home, he was already married. interestingly, mrs. villar and my sister were friends. money is not a bad looking man. he’s not an idiot either, and the surest way to get to where he wanted to go, was marry into it. at least, alam ni money ang gusto niya. another thing, in our culture, money screams. as one fil/chinese businessman said, mura lang ang mga fil., and siguro, purely speculation on my part, sa pakiramdam ni money, my money can buy me any woman, and lets get real people, one doesn’t have to be a powerful, wealthy politician to bed even a fil. beauty queen. meron akong sasabihing hindi maganda, sasabihin ko pa rin, and am sure i’ll be crucified, but what the heck. what is transparent sa text na yan, is what is endemeic in our cultural fabric…our culture of lack. so, sometimes, let us examine who we are….we are ripe for the picking for those machiavellian politicians. we most of the time, deserve what we get. we as a people have the shortest memory, why?? wala tayong orgullo sa lahi natin.

The Hacienda Luisita was developed into industrial, commercial and residential prime real estate with golf and country club, industrial and techno parks. there was a condition that the land will be distributed to the farmers after 10 years. That was 1958.
1989 came the agrarian reform and the Cojuangcos were able to avoid the distribution of the lands to the farmers by issuing stock options. Instead of land, they received papers of ownership where they are entitled to dividends.
Until now, there was no dividends paid to the farmers- then the HL massacre.
It maybe during Cory’s time that the reorganization of Hacienda Luisita had taken place in lull. The farmers who earlier have tendered their services should have been paid fairly. Assuming that Noynoy holds a minority share of HL, the value of his share can absolutely be distributed to the poor. AS many have said, Kris and Noynoy can afford without the Hacienda Luisita. To me that’s sincerely pro-poor if he had done so. Being pro-poor must be measurable and visible to the filipino people. What did Noynoy do in the Senate to facilitate the process of HL’s disagreement? Nothing ? maybe because Noynoy is never a true pro-poor.
Many will argue that Noynoy is a decent and honest man. Honesty is not just about “not” stealing money. The practice of promising equity to labored and tired workers without consideration of its validity is a true definition of Corrupt Practices, Elitism and Conflict of Interest. Honesty is to take action to support the farmers. So how can Noynoy help the rest of the farmers if he was not able to distribute a small portion from his own backyard? How will Noynoy help the majority poor when in fact he cannot even help the farmers. Not all poor are farmers… just think about it.
Any promises that Noynoy will distribute the land in 2014 is an outright lie. The land can no longer be distributed because it’s no longer zone agricultural.
