Antonio Trillanes IV.

Gary Alejano and wife Minnie whenhe filed his certificate of candidacy in Sipalay
Gary Alejano and wife Minnie whenhe filed his certificate of candidacy in Sipalay

Nandun ngayon sina Alejano at Layug. Magkasama sila doon ni Marine Col. Ariel Querubin.

    Lokohan?

  2. chi chi

    Refundable ba ang piyansa?

Nakakasura ang militar ni Pidal, pribadong mamamayan na ay hinahabol pa just to prove that pandakekak has the power still. Imbierna!

  3. chi chi

Ooppps…hindi pala pwedeng i-refund. Another case pala yun.

  4. chi chi

I really want him to win in the 2nd district of Taguig.

Anna has two plates, mine is one. Good luck James!

  5. chi chi

Gloria Arroyo + Manny Villar = Villarroyo.
    Villarroyo + NPA + Magdalo = Impiyerno.

  7. chi chi

To be clear… like Anna, I support James Layug as an individual, not a part of the Magdalo group.

  8. MPRivera MPRivera

The lawyer can either file a motion to dismiss (ayaw ko niyan, dahil ang judge ay kanila) or a petition for writ of amparo.

As a general matter, an individual discharged and returned to civilian life is not subject to the jurisdiction of a court-martial [United States v. Davis, 63 MJ 171 (Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces 2006)]

  10. saxnviolins saxnviolins

Incumbent Appointive Official. – Under Section 13 of RA 9369, which reiterates Section 66 of the Omnibus Election Code, any person holding a public appointive office or position, including active members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and officers and employees in government-owned or -controlled corporations, shall be considered ipso facto resigned from his office upon the filing of his certificate of candidacy.

This provision was upheld in the recent decision of Eleazar Quinto v. COMELEC.

So Danny Lim is no longer in the military. There is no case in the civil courts?

Based on the jurisprudence above, laya na dapat.

  15. Mike Mike

Well, I can’t blame them, if supporting Villar means early or immediate freedom from years of torment and away from family and maybe…. just maybe… PLUS offering them a “decent LIVELIHOOD” right after…. well, who wouldn’t want that.

  17. Hi Ellen, Chi, friends!

Hmmm… this is all very exciting!

Best of luck to James Layug. Yep, Chi, I’m with you all the way on this. He deserves to win so he can give Gloria the hideous dwarf a run for her money when they face each other in Congress. (Pity, Chi, we can’t be there at Layug’s event.)

What I don’t understand is why the military is insisting on their macabre idea of putting Layug behind military bars (or barbwires.)

Sax cited a US precedence re motion to try an ex-member of the military by court martial after said member was discharged.

According to Darling (who’s presided over and been part of a more than a few court martials):

    (1) As a general rule, Layug could not be discharged with a case against him. He must be tried and undergo punishment before being discharged. The effect, i.e., proven guilty, would be he would go to a military jail rather than civil (tends to be harder.)

    (2) If he’s been discharged as punishment, he cannot be re-tried. So, has Layug been discharged or not?

    (3) The real issue here is violation of human rights by being held (incarcerated) for 6 years under arrest without trial. The military can be taken to court for that.

    So, what is going on?

I suppose the military is really scared of these young men. Either that or vengativa Gloria is hell bent on inflicting on them her personal brand of justice.

  18. chi chi

    Hi Anna! Glad your back.

Yup, pretty excited on James run. Inilipat lang ng kulungan because putot does not want him campaigning in person. If he wins, he’ll be a formidable opponent of Gloria’s kababuyan there. Ayan, even if he’s a civilian already Pidal’s military still insists on keeping him in jail.

  19. Take a look at this. Mayor Tinga is running for congress in this election:

Narcotics agent accuses Tingas of coddling kin

By Cynthia Balana, Miko L. Morelos
    Philippine Daily Inquirer
    First Posted 02:01:00 03/04/2010

MANILA, Philippines—An agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has accused retired Supreme Court Justice Dante Tinga and his son, Taguig Mayor Sigfrido Tinga, of influencing a judge into dismissing a drug-pushing charge against their three relatives.

Jeffrey M. Roquero, PDEA intelligence officer II, who posed as the buyer to bust the Tinga kin, wrote Chief Justice Reynato Puno on Feb. 8 seeking the disbarment of Judge Raul Villanueva of the Regional Trial Court Branch 267 of Pasig City (Taguig City station) who handled the case.

Roquero also filed a formal complaint in the Supreme Court on Feb. 17 seeking an investigation of Villanueva for ignoring “the strong and sufficient evidence of the prosecution by the mere demurrer to evidence submitted by the defense.” (A demurrer to evidence is a pleading for the court to order the outright dismissal of charges pending before it due to weak evidence.

  20. Anna, re #(2) If he’s been discharged as punishment, he cannot be re-tried. So, has Layug been discharged or not?

James and fellow Magdalo officers ( Marine Capt Gary Alejano; Lt. (s.g.) Eugene Gonzales; Lt (s.g.) Andy Torrato; Lt. (s.g.) Manuel Cabochan; Air Force Capt Dan Orfiano; Lt. Arturo Pascua; Air Force Lt, Billy Pascua; Lt. Jonnel Sangalang; Lt. Armand Pontejos, and 1Lt. Ashley Acedillo entered into a plea bargain in July 2008. They pleaded guilty of conduct unbecoming an officer and gentleman for which the punishment was dismissal from service.

They did this after talking with then AFP Chief Alexander Yano so that they would not be subjected to court martial on the Manila Pen incident.

“Usapang lalaki,” was the term Yano used with the Magdalo officers. Last year, with Yano, comfortably ensconced as ambassador in Brunei and Ibrado at the helm of the AFP, they were served the charge sheet on the Manila Pen incident.

  21. To those who are trying to insinuate malice where James Layug, Gary Alejano and the three other civilian Magdalo members got money for bail, they posted a bail bond. I understand it was an insurance company who handled it. That means they didn;t have to pay P200,000. They paid I think only 10 percent of the amount.

I don’t agree with them in their choice of Villar but I know that money was not the consideration. Because if it were, they should not have supported Villar. They should have supported another candidate who offered them large amount of money.

Whoever they endorsed, it has nothing to do with the injustice that has been and still is being inflicted on them.

  22. Ellen,

    Thanks for the info.

In that case, the military’s left hand doesn’t know what its right hand is doing!!!

Also, if the charge sheet was served them under Ibrado’s leadership, then, clearly, Ibrado is in cahoots with Gloria over this.

And I was right after all. Ibrado is overestimated as CSAFP. He’s just a prat himself, an old useless fart of a general.

Re ““Usapang lalaki,” used by Yano — they should have asked Yano to sign the necessary papers before this boring craphead of a Gloria ass licker retired. No such thing as “Usapang lalaki,” (nor, I suspect, “Usapang babae”) under the hideous Malacanang dwende’s reign.

  23. Re: “They should have supported another candidate who offered them large amount of money.”

    Hah!

And to my mind, that “other candidate” could be one who’s got cash to dispense, eg., Aquino or Teodoro??? Maybe Gordon or Perlas???? or Villanueva (can’t believe it would be these last 3 though) 🙂

So, by process of elimination, I guess is that the “other candidate” has ties with the media world… broadcast media that is (lots of money in the pot there). And that could be none other than….ta da da….. 🙂

  24. The outcome of this election at least for the presidential or so can easily by seen by the players’ end game. Cheating aside, when FPJ was battling it out with GMA, his end game seemed to have fizzled, he plainly ran out of money – as evidenced by his supporters frantically calling for monetary support from businessmen…
This is a third world country after all, and VIllar seems to be very confident of his pera-pera lang attitude…in every situation, a deal is required…
Anyway, whats the worst possible scenario if he wins? not much, more of the same really, hey, if we survived traditional politics all these years, we can take more…so it would be another scramble for getting into his good graces after? I bet a lot of people will do a 180 when that happens, its the era of the compromise, the deal, after all…

  25. I totally disapprove too of their endorsement of Villar and like you Ellen, I don’t believe they are in it for the money. OK, poor tactical move on their part to have endorsed a candidate at all. But know what? I certainly would like to see these young fellows freed to fight another day.

I am for discipline in the military and punish those who commit military violations but at the same time, these young men were victims of lawless elements in our govt, i.e., Gloria and her cabal of criminal politicians. They were also poorly led (referrence to idiotic Honassan). Their major mistake: they didn’t take down Gloria and instead holed themselves up uselessly at Oakwood!

That said, none of us here can fight the way they can, stake their lives in true combat and give up their lives if required, so, for that alone, I say they deserve a second chance (which many politicians and people government certainly don’t.)

Such a waste to keep them in detention. Needless to say, there are those who deserve it or at least 1000 years in prison for blatant corruption, for criminal governance, for political indecency, etc, etc., crimes that these young men certainly did not commit.

  26. so it would be another scramble for getting into his good graces after? I bet a lot of people will do a 180 when that happens, — Jug

Agree. This isn’t the first time it’s gonna happen (if Villar wins). FVR won only 24 or 25% of the votes yet when he became president, everyone said they voted for him. Someone said that if you counted those who said that they voted for him, he should have easily garnered 51% of the votes!

The thing about FVR was he was a concensus builder. He realised his poor score meant that almost three quarters of the voters didn’t want him for president and so, ever tactical, he did the best he could under the circumstances: he built concensus where he can.

If Villar is intelligent (and I think he is — you don’t get to steal C-5 money from government without a bit of brain), he would be well advised to follow FVR’s concensus buliding scheme, that is if he should win.

  27. he built concensus where he COULD.

  28. Re: “They should have supported another candidate who offered them large amount of money.”

I’ll rephrase that. They should have supported another candidate whose financier offered them a large amount of money to make up for his candidate’s refusal to have them participate in his government.

  29. Al Al

Inquirer: Narcotics agent accuses Tingas of coddling kin

The Tingas are aligned with the Liberal Party. Ano masasabi ni Noynoy dito?

  30. whose financier offered them a large amount of money to make up for his candidate’s refusal to have them participate in his government.

Why didn’t “his candidate” want them to participate in his “government?” Is “his candidate” afraid that if he allowed any of these young officers to serve in “his govt”, there is a risk that future dealings by “his govt” would be watched with a fine toothcomb?

Based on an educated guess, I think I have an idea who “his candidate” might be… tee-hee!

  31. henry90 henry90

    Anna:

Si Aquino lang naman ang nabanggit ni Ms ET na ayaw reportedly sa Magdalo, so there you go. . .

  32. Henry,

    Hmmm…

Anyway, as Jug pointed out, it’s all about entering into a compromise (era of compromise as he calls it).

Actually, if indeed Aquino’s rep offered a compromise (or a deal) involving cash, one could advance a theory that the cash deal offer was to fund the election campaign of the young officers standing for elective posts. In theory, there’s nothing wrong with that — you need funds to run a campaign. If it’s for something else, eg., to clip this group’s tongues, might be a bit more questionable.

If assuming that Aquino’s camp refused to compromise on a power sharing deal in govt, frankly, I personally don’t see anything wrong with that either. (Difficult to commit at this stage, especially with a group that was under the initial “tutelage” of Honassan.)

However, to put to rest any and all speculations as to why Aquino’s camp rejected a deal with the group, it would be good to know the real motives or reasons behind their decision.

  33. chi chi

I wish the “financer” or Aquino himself talks why didn’t they like Magdalo in their government. Talk now to clear the air of doubts on both sides.

  34. chi, the only reason I can think of is their connection to Honasan, who led several coups against Cory and almost had Noynoy killed in one of those “adventures”.

But why is this person offering them money? Because Magdalo is organized and now claims several thousands of card-bearing members – a cult following, if you will. Simply vote-buying, isn’t it?

  35. chi chi

Yes, Tongue, I think so, too. If Honasan was the reason why Magdalo’s participation in their government was rejected, then they are a bunch of frightened people at LP. Hindi pa, scared na sila with the shadows of the past.

Magdalo can help them a lot in the implementation of their programs especially in the sectors that needed their expertise. Magdalo is a group of brilliant young minds that should not be put to waste.

A true president has no personal biases and should put people and country before him, even if it meant his life.

Just wish Aquino and Trillanes would spill the beans themselves.

    Ano nga ba mga kuyas?

  36. chi chi

As to buying Magdalo’s vote, that’s also related to fear.

Di sila maka-MASA…coz’ang C5’t Tiyaga and Noy Yellow Fever are both remnant ng EDSA DOS con Hello Garci.

  38. balweg balweg

My only concern e gusto nilang manalo upang maluklok sa paglilingkod bayan, ngayon dito sila makikipag-alyansa sa mga remnant ng EDSA DOS con Hello Garci.

Ibig sabihin, lulunukin nila ang katrayduran at pagiging sinungaling nitong mga EDSA DOS wannabees upang magsipanalo lamang.

    Walang kwentang prinsipyo…!

  39. chi chi

Ka Balweg, I beg to disagree but the Magdalo group is not a puppet nor a favorite of the Yellow Army. And then after, they’re saying that they don’t support uprising against the unana.

And if you’re following the discussion there, sobrang layo ng comments mo. 🙂

I understand that one of the ‘conditions’ was for the Magdalo to be put to work/ harness their talents by the Aquino government. Yan ay rejected ng LP but Villar agreed.

Anyhoo… I strongly disagree with their choice of Villar and if this “financier” story is true I might go where Tongue is going. 🙂 Kaya gusto ko ay lumabas ang financier kung sinuman sya, and Noynoy’s stand on this matter.

RE: And if you’re following the discussion there, sobrang layo ng comments mo?

Rebel soldiers they are called Magdalo, i may right Igan?

They organized and formed this group to represent yaong ipinaglalaban ng mga rebeldeng Magdalo.

Lim? At saan naman nakaticket sina Col. Queruben at iba pang rebeldeng Magdalo?

    How about Senator Trillanes?

Ngayon tell me kung ang punto de vista ko about this issues e malayo sa pinag-uusapan ng bawat isa sa atin? I i’m wrong pls. kindly corrent me alright…!

  42. henry90 henry90

    Anna & Chi:

My take of the situation is that Aquino is not outrightly rejecting the offer of the Magdalo but is rather noncommital at this stage unlike Villar who will promise even the moon to anyone who he thinks can prop up his campaign, just like what he did to Erap and Gordon. Tama lang naman sa tingin ko. Although part of the dynamics ng politics natin ang negotiations/haggling for concessions later on, pag ako ang kandidato, mas gugustohin ko pa rin na ang Magdadalo ang mag ooffer ng tulong nila kaysa ako ang maghahabol sa kanila. With that, I will be in a better position to negotiate in a position of strenght di ba?

I have no doubt, Roxas knew about this but could be a ‘hostage’ also of the powers inside the party.

The puzzle that Arroyo’s fiscal mismanagement for the past nine years thus posed was that placing the records of Estrada, the college dropout, and Arroyo, the economist, side by side, Estrada is a far better financial manager.

And another, from “Jeff,” who’s based abroad: “I really admire your guts and courage for printing those unkind and negative words about your brother Juan Ponce-Enrile unlike people who hide their true identity and are simply cowards.

“Just like you I always believe in Erap, no matter how they demonize him because I truly believe that he is the only one among the candidates for president with a heart for the poor and the lowly. What people should understand is that (some years ago) the former President chose to be imprisoned rather than go into exile, which would have been tantamount to an admission of guilt on his part.

“I wish his campaign could show President Cory asking forgiveness from him and Mr. Yasay, too. My family and I believe that President Erap will do better than any of the other candidates. Just like you, you never gave up on him, I never give up on him too, I want to see him back in Malacañang this June.”
