The top two were described as “well ahead” and nine said to have “always been in the winning circle” since December, leaving just one seat being fought over by three newcomers.

Five other senatorial candidates, however, are not far behind, according to the results of the April 16- to-19 survey, conducted three weeks before the May 10 national elections.

Well within statistical striking distance from the Magic 12 circle are of Bukidnon Rep. Teofisto “TG” L. Guingona III (LP) and businessman Jose “Joey” P. de Venecia III (PMP) who both scored 20%.

The SWS described as “not far behind” the 18% of PDP-Laban senatorial candidate Gwendolyn C. Pimentel-Gana, daughter of Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Q. Pimentel, Jr.; the 16% each for Sonia M. Roco, widow of the late senator Raul S. Roco (LP), Marine Col. Ariel O. Querubin (NP) and the LP’s Akbayan party-list Rep. Ana Theresia Hontiveros-Baraquel (16%); and the 15% of another LP bet, Muntinlupa City Rep. Rozzano Rufino B. Biazon.

In 20th and 21st places were Emilio Mario R. Osmeña (Promdi) and former Brig. Gen. Danilo P. Lim (LP), both with 13%.

Noynoy is consistently number one in all surevys from the start up to the present , and Noynoy’s lead against nearest rival villaroyo is even getting wider . It is now logical, fair and safe to conclude that Noynoy is the winner in this presidential election, while Mar is definitely the winner for vice president.
the great act of Mar by giving way to Noynoy greatly improved his political status and earned respect and admiration of voters

  2. sychitpin sychitpin

i just received info from a trusted friend regarding the extortion activities of PASG under the office of the president, PASG is extorting 200millions from 168 Mall, 800k from Meisic Mall, 4.5 millions from Divisoria Mall, and 12 millions from Juan Luna Plaza.

  3. Lurker Lurker

Let’s not be hasty and say that Noynoy/Mar are already the winners. A lot of “Magic” can still happen. Let’s all be vigilant instead and push for clean, orderly, transparent elections, especially in the counting of the ballots.

  4. phil phil

I believe even most mock elections online conducted by several groups (including our own) have consistently shown Noynoy-Mar tandem leading. IF the elections will really be clean, they are sure winners. I agree with lurker, let’s try to be vigilant and think of how we can contribute to make the elections clean and orderly.

Seeing the list top 12 senatorial candidates, however, dismays me. If that will be the composition of the ‘new’ Senate, we might as well really abolish it.

Me too.

  6. Mike Mike

The only saving grace among the 12 senators in the list is Serge Osmena.

  7. Lurker Lurker

After his Ampatuan visit, Remulla should had been displaced in the 12th position, or the purpose of the visit was to make ‘daya’ because 12th is a precarious position.

By what the survey says, in the case of senators, ang pagbabago parang pagluluma, .

  12. Phil Cruz Phil Cruz

Amazingly, Binay has grabbed the second spot from Loren. Fourteen points to go to grab the lead from Mar. Can he do it with Chiz going all out for him?

Chiz’ sudden visibility in the Binay campaign is definitely a deliberate well-placed wedge to make Mar lose the Vice-Presidency. I doubt that Chiz is really that close to Binay. What really are the ties that bind these two men? Nothing much that I can recall.

So there was really no need for Chiz to drive that wedge between Noynoy and Mar. But he did. Clearly a very early move to grab the presidency in 2016.

  13. Phil Cruz Phil Cruz

But I doubt that Chiz can succeed in getting Binay the Vice-Presidency. The lead is wide with only two weeks to go. Chiz knows this. Still, he drove that wedge in the Noynoy-Mar camp.

Yes to whistleblowers, No to backhoe operators.

  19. reyp reyp

Sychitpin, Mar giving way to Noynoy was not a great act. It was a calculated move. His ratings were going nowhere while Noynoy’s was phenomenal. It was calculated risk that Noynoy will get him to be his vice president in exchange for stepping down. Mar is no different from Loren. Both love to jump ship when there is an opportunity for furthering one’s ambition or when one’s ambition is in danger. Mar was blind to Erap’s acts but conveniently jumped ship prior to the impeachment trial. Mar kept a blind eye to GMA’s activities, even to the point of defending her during the massive cheating in 2004 until it became untenable when Hello Garci came out in 2005. He then jumped ship. I would be very wary of a Mar vice-presidency.

God forbid that Mar wins. He will definitely try to undermine Noynoy. Remember the various people and groups behind him are the same ones who were behind Gloria (same groups who rabidly defended her during and around the 2004 election period). We might have a similar episode like what happened in 2001; once Noynoy has served his purpose (make Mar win the vp), goodbye.

Phil is right, it looks like it will be a Noynoy-Mar victory. We just have to keep an eye on Mar and the former Gloria boys with him, they might just do something bad on Noynoy and we will have 6 more years of Gloria policies through Mar.

Binay may also be dirty just like the rest of the VP candidates but you have to hand it to this guy. He has loyalty. He did not abandon Cory nor did he abandon Erap during 2001. He maybe the least evil among all the VP candidates.

Kuya Mar should worry about the upswing of Rambotito and do something. I believe Chiz can deliver more votes to Binay giving him terrible headaches. Only my hula from over here…. 🙂

Never will i vote for Remulla..puro dakdak!! ala nga nagawa sa cavite eh..

  26. For a Noynoy presidency to work, he needs a good team, the senatorial list based on the survey is a recipe for disaster…these jokers will just push their own vested interests, instead on focusing on the country, Noynoy will have his hands full…

  27. ocayvalle ocayvalle

hindi na yata ako naniniwala sa survey na ito..!! sobra na talaga..si gilbert remulla nasa magic 12, bakit sa maguindanao ba ginawa ang survey..?? survey can not elect a person running for an elected position, it is only a tool to condition the mind of the electorate to favor certain people, lalu na kung iyong cliente nila is a paying client to be surveyed.. pakitanong po sa mga kakilala ninyo kung me na survey na sa kanila o kaya kaibigan nila na na survey na..wala..!! i believe that it is the people`s vote not the survey that a candidate will win.. for me it will be erap who will be the next president.. it`s my intuition and belief..!!GOD save the philippines..

  29. Oblak Oblak

BAKIT ??????? Ano na namang katarantaduhan ito??
Why on earth do we have to endure these fucking shit ???

  34. sychitpin sychitpin

reyp: your point is well taken, nevertheless we have to credit Mar for having the wisdom to give way to Noynoy. The late Pres Cory’s death reawakened Pinoy’s conscience, united LP and propelled Noynoy and Mar to a phenomenal victory.I remember Mar was the one who curse gma during a rally in Makati.
i agree senators frontliners were disappointing, particularly the very corrupt remulla, lapid, sotto, cayetano, etc… Hontiveros and Danny Lim are definitely better senatorial candidates.

  35. perl perl

Remember 2004, SWS conducted and exit poll which showed GMA winning in Metro Manila. Exit poll is a survey among those who have voted already, and yet they made a crazy result that GMA won in Metro Manila! FPJ won in 16 out of the 17 cities of Metro Manila. GMA won only in Las Pinas, Villar’s bailiwick.

  38. balweg balweg

Tnx.

Sina C5 at Tiyaga, Noy Yellow Fever at iba pa e sila ang kasama sa naghudas noong EDSA DOS not Once but Twice.

    NEVER.

RE: Why on earth do we have to endure these fucking shit ???

  42. norpil norpil

pinoy style democracy. somehow democracy is less meaningful when a winner does not have the majority of votes. in the usa it is possible that a presidential candidate wins even if one did not get the absolute majority of votes but the majority instead of those who have the right to elect the president as directed by their constitution. in a parliamentary system, the representatives elect the prime minister. in pinas it is possible to be president even when the majority of the people did not vote for the winner.on paper it seems impractical but workable in pinas because of the number of turncoat politicians who jump over the winning side after election.

  43. in pinas it is possible to be president even when the majority of the people did not vote for the winner.on paper it seems impractical but workable in pinas because of the number of turncoat politicians who jump over the winning side after election.

    Spot on, Norpil!

My opinion (posted under a past thread here):

In the 1998 presidential elections, even Joseph Estrada, king of the Philippine movies, whose supporters like to proclaim as the president that was overwhelmingly voted into office, received only a little over 39% of the votes cast or a total of 10,722,295 votes, clearly not even close to majority vote, no matter how you toss the figures around.

In other words, around 61% or 16,180,241 of the nation’s voters did NOT want Estrada to be their president.

Questions beg to be asked: What if this happens again? How can the winner of the election expect to seriously govern a fractured nation if 61% of the nation’s voters don’t want the winner for their president?

Answer to first question: You have a problem!

Answer to second question: With great difficulty! (or as Norpil says, they have to be turncoats every other tri-mester)

RE:…in pinas it is possible to be president even when the majority of the people did not vote for the winner.on paper it seems impractical but workable in pinas because of the number of turncoat politicians who jump over the winning side after election.

  45. norpil norpil

igang balweg and adb. i think no system is perfect but the people themselves should work to make it perfect.pinas had the two party system for a long time and it should had worked but an accident in history stopped its development.a system with more than two parties is also ok but there ought to have a run off election as in other countries although this will add more to the cost of election.political parties ought to have their own plattforms developed by its members and not dominated by the moneyed members.
