We should not forget

Last Sunday, the media community remembered that six months ago, 57 people were brutally killed by members of then ruling Ampatuan family. At least 30 of those killed were journalists who were covering the filing of the certificate of candidacy by then Buluan Vice Mayor Esmael “Toto” Mangudadatu, elected Maguindanao governor last May 10 elections.

The victims of the massacre are still seeking for justice. Here are the photos of last Sunday’s activity hosted by Malaya Business Insight.

This happened under the nose of Gloria Arroyo, the most hated leader in Pinas history. I hope Noynoy’s administration can give justice to the victims and families asap.

  8. Ellen,

Not only NOT forget!!! and must see this through whatever it takes. There should be no let up in the nation’s quest to punish the bastards who did this. People must do everything to get those bastards in jail forever!!!

pinas justice is something like:those who pulled the trigger or what we may call the ordinary criminals are sent to jail.the managers have connection with the people in power and therefore remained untouched under normal conditions.

JUSTICE for the victims of MAGUINDANAO MASSACRE and END IMPUNITY TO CORE CRIMES:

April 23, 2010, the Philippine government under President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, through the Department of Justice Acting Secretary Alberto Agra, decided to drop the murder charges against Zaldy Ampatuan and Akmad “Tato” Ampatuan, in connection with the November 23 Ampatuan Massacre in Maguindanao — barely two months after charging them, or 5 months, or 150 days after the massacre. We need strong deterrents against, and end impunity to CORE CRIMES – war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, rapes, and hate media,

In the interest of JUSTICE for the victims of the Maguindanao Massacre, and for the end of IMPUNITY to CORE CRIMES,

    1. The INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT must be allowed to prosecute the Maguindanao Massacre. As described in its website: “The International Criminal Court (ICC), governed by the Rome Statute, is the first permanent, treaty based, International Criminal Court established to help end impunity for the perpetrators of the most serious crimes of concern to the international community.”

    2. The UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY and the UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL, if necessary, must be requested to pass Resolutions requesting the International Criminal Court to prosecute the Maguindanao Massacre.

    3. The President of the Philippines must repeal the “BILATERAL IMMUNITY AGREEMENT”, an Executive Agreement that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed with then President George W. Bush of the United States on May 14, 2003, just before the 2004 national, including PRESIDENTIAL elections. The “Bilateral Immunity Agreements” were criticized by the world civil society organizations as “Bilateral IMPUNITY Agreements”.

    4. The President of the Philippines must move for the immediate ratification of the “Rome Statute of the INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT“, disengage from the roster of countries with serious human rights issues, and finally join the world civil community.

    5. The Philippine Senate must continue to move for the ratification of the “Rome Statute of the INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT“, and to prohibit the President from signing any “BILATERAL IMMUNITY AGREEMENT”, or any similar agreement, with another country,

    6. DISBAND the AFP and PNP, and Replace them with a PUBLIC SECURITY FORCE and a COAST GUARD, Lean and Mean, Responsible and Accountable, with a new set of rules , and a new Code of Conduct.

    MABUHAY ANG PILIPINAS.
