How clean was some of the monies used in the election campaign of Noynoy? My question is directed to best pal Rico E. Puno. That’s a ridiculous question, wala nga palang evidence….soweee!

Ngayon kung totoo ang jueteng talks, at sila Pineda ang nagbabayad, then they have the goods on Verzosa. That is a non-bailable offense (I’m sure, cumulatively, may 50 million na). And since the offense is “in connection” with his office” (he looked the other way to allow it), then it will be handled by Merci.

Pasalamat pa nga sila at meron pumupuna. Mga puna lang yun, in the end he is the elected president, sundin ang gusto nya.

We wished Noynoy all the luck at the start, we are still wishing him all the luck for a better Pinas. Ciao, ciao for now.

Kung si P.Noy will not act against the recommendations of the IIRC, this will make or unmake his kind of leadership. I do agree that the reason or reasons for P.Noy to entrust the IIRC report for review to his legal advisers in Malacanang was just to delay the implementation of the recommendations dahil nga nagmamadali siya sa kanyang misyon in going to the U.S. Let’s hope that P.Noy does not make a major, major blunder here.

  8. I’ll still respect whatever his decision will be…if breaks his leadership or not, its a good way of removing he chaff from the grain…those who are with him will be with him, those who are willing to destroy the country to prove a point or to put forward their own agenda, will be exposed…
…so be it, lets get ready to rumble…

  9. If its a crises some people want, then a crises they’ll get…the worst case scenario would be that the administration will have to resort to drastic measures to protect itself and get things done…it might not look pleasant, we still get the same noise like the during Gloria’s time but then again, as long as he has the support of the powers of the state, plus loyalty of the PNP (mutual respect)…its going to be the same thing all over again…only this time around there will be no more coups, no more stand offs, no more people power, what else is left to do? can you really see disgruntled people stopping work to show disgust? or more indifference and apathy?
…I sympathize with the president, I too, will not sacrifice my friend just because he has become a liability because of hearsay or innuendo…or anyone else for that matter…I will not solve an injustice with another injustice…let due process be the order of the day…

  10. Ngayon kung totoo ang jueteng talks, at sila Pineda ang nagbabayad, then they have the goods on Verzosa. That is a non-bailable offense (I’m sure, cumulatively, may 50 million na). Puno and Versoza on Pnoy? I don’t think so. Since Pnoy became president I thought that he together with his cabinet members are doing what needs to be done. Di lang perfect but they are doing something to have a government deserving of its people. I’m happy with Sec. De Lima very professional and credible in the justice department. We have an MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino who knows how to communicate with his peers Mayors of every city in metro manila. They are doing something about clog esteros, clean-up work againts Dengue to name a few.
Jueteng..daming masisirang tao nito.

Let’s have faith and pray na magiging maganda ang pnoy admin.

  16. …all i ask is for those who are batikos nang batikos to “act” on their convictions…so many times in the past some patriotic foolhardies get left alone in the street waiting for the support that never came…puro kiaw, kiaw lang…and they are still languishing…

  17. …jueteng? if the governor/mayor will order the pnp official to stop it – it can be stopped dead in its tracks cold turkey…”if?” …but if the PNP official will tell the governor/mayor that he will stop it and the former disagrees (usually secretly) – the PNP official is relieved…and most of the time these type of governor/mayor are very much loved by their people because of their generosity, madaling lapitan, maraming nagawa, etc, etc….you’re literally fighting city hall…thats a fact of life…deal with it or leave the country like so many smart batikos machines here… 🙂

Mas lalong walang Weteng lord kung walang mananayang Pinoy 3x a day, kasi nga wala silang makokolekta upang ito e bolahin 3x a day?

Simple, ibig sabihin walang isyu tapos ang problema!

That’s why it’s suggested to be legalize. Many are dealing with it! What we cannot deal with is the end results if this is left the way it was…corruption of local governance! now national! This is a tax free enterprise it just need to be regulated!
Problem is, most who are against legalization of jueteng in general are the ones receiving payola from it!

  20. If Noynoy stands his ground and keeps Puno and even gives DILG to Versoza…I’m really dying to see the massive uproar, the rallies, bishop Cruz, and all his supporters, hand in hand with Gloria and her minions, Villar, Jocjoc, Cayetano, Lagman, etc, etc…what a sight! Gloria and in hand, elbow to elbow, with the people who were shouting “Gloria resign!” just fairly recently. Now that would be funny… 🙂

  25. olan,
before, with gloria, i had a serious bone to pick, she cheated the elections and imprisoned friends arbitrarily…so you end up having friends on both sides of the spectrum, one following their constitutional duty to preserve the chain of command and the other questioning the legitimacy of the leadership…
…there is no such scenario now, its a lot simpler, everyone will do the constitutional duty of preserving the chain of command…wala pang away, walang debate, everything is clear…simpler…

  26. …yes…like real life, we have to deal with it, its not always fair…most of the time we just suck it up and hope for the best, but prepare for the worst…

All I’m saying is there’s benefit on jueteng and it can be done. If Gloria got her way of cheating and stealing with the help of many why not address the issue of jueteng head-on now that pnoy admin have the mandate and followers. Hit it hard when it is at its weakest! Surely after all those years..nine with Gloria those mayors, governors, congressman and senators, etc. ay nakaipon na and more likely will not complain too loudly or face the full might of the law!

RE: Jueteng..daming masisirang tao nito.

  29. Surely after all those years..nine with Gloria those mayors, governors, congressman and senators, etc. ay nakaipon na and more likely will not complain too loudly or face the full might of the law!

ka balweg, i meant credibility. The peoples confidence on our system of governance. Jueteng is both destructive and beneficiary, kailangan lang talagang i-regulate.

Isa pa income ay taxable. Kita sa jueteng ay dapat taxable. kaya nga nag pasa ilalim ang kapinuyan sa ating gobyerno at tayo naman ay binubuwisan in many forms. Yung jueteng libre.

My take. I agree na dapat sipain si Puno. Not because of jueteng though. Mahirap purbahan yang pagtanggap. Parang he said-she said lang yan. Take it from me.

Last I heard, committee nga e. ano ba ang trabaho ng committee? It was created by Malacanang. Why is it suddenly an issue na nirereview ang findings nito? Hell, the DOJ Secreary himself can even overturn the decision of the Chief Prosecutor. And while we’re atr it. Remember Gloria overturning Raul Goonsalez decision doon sa Alabang Boys? Hold your horses people. After nang 9 years na walang nangyari sa kangangawa sa mga blogs sa pag atake kay Gloria, di ba parang we are bullying Aquino to conform to our way of appreciating the way the affairs of the state are being managed? Parang mob mentality ah. Uh uh. You have another think coming if we underestimate the guy. Remember guys, we are not privy to all the information the President has. What if somebody is indeed pulling the strings behind the scenes to oust Aquino this early? Hehehe. Masaya to. Gazmin has his work cut out for him. Let the fireworks begin. 😛

    @henry90 #36

Yung IIRC ni De Lima merely confirmed what everyone knows, which malfunctioning officials and entities are culpable of negligence. Lim admitted his mistakes, Puno admitted he was not able to do anything.

Maybe Noynoy’s more reasonable excuse would be that he will be studying what punishment to deal those officials. Puno’s case is easy. If PNoy has balls (which I doubt), he could have fired Puno already without needing De Lima’s investigation.

  38. NFA rice NFA rice

Puno has a clear conflict of interest within the DILG. Even without the hostage disaster, he is still a damaged good.

  39. It all depends on the president now, whatever he decides to do, we follow, he’s the president…besides, choosing between a trusted friend and media innuendo – simple, yo follow the “bro code,” the part that says “bros before hos.” 🙂

The problem with jueteng is that the people behind it are getting too powerful. They were able to remove a popular president, let an unelected president rule for 9 years and influence votes. Eventually, these gambling lords will be uncontrollable. They will have armies, fight for turf, turn policemen against each other. We might end up like gotham city with no superhero to defend law abiding citizens. It feels that way already.

  43. Jake Las Pinas Jake Las Pinas

I guess, we expected PNoy to become a revolutionary president and turn everything around instead it is politics as usual. He is always compromising. He should have taken corona and gutierrez out of office but conceded in the end.

  44. oystermushroom oystermushroom

Can it be said that jueteng has become so powerful that it can change and control people in government and maybe even the government itself? This is a terrible thought. Shades of the Mexican, Colombian and the like drug cartels, only, its jueteng in RP. We may just end up in the long term like Mexico and Colombia.

I don’t think its loyalty. It something deeper and profitable to all of them I would think. Only, people like Bishop Cruz has derailed their timetable. In this case do I still trust Pres. Aquino III? Hmmm, there is still a little trust but it is fast waning. Have to see Pres. Aquino III do something significant to regain what trust has waned. Not the New York hotdog type but things positive vis-a-vis past events.

  45. The media as a business has untintentionally/u\intentionally shrunk the timetables by which the government operates…in trying to outrun each other, the speed of relaying information to the public, who, may have become “reality tv” sophisticates, thanks to Big Brother, etc…believe that they know better…the expectations of speedy, dirty harry, judge dredd type of implementing justice has taken the place of circumspection…

Time, the mass media, and the presidency

    By Randy David
    Philippine Daily Inquirer
    First Posted 22:17:00 09/25/2010

The speed and the scale in which today’s mass media relay information to the public have radically shrunk the time-horizon for decision-making. Government finds itself being rushed to produce decisions as fast as the media can produce new information. A public that presumes to know what happened expects instant action. It cannot appreciate the complex internal environment in which public officials must make decisions.

Whereas the mass media thrive in the ceaseless production of information, the other institutions of society take time to weigh the meaning and implication of every piece of information. Domains
like government and the courts, for instance, are much slower to make decisions or take action because they are required by their own codes to be more circumspect. To speed up their rhythms in order to keep up with the dizzying pace of the mass media is to court danger. Yet, this is exactly what they now find themselves compelled to do
    ———————————

Just as it is the function of government to be circumspect in promulgating collectively-binding decisions, so it is the function of the mass media to “outrun” themselves in the effort to supersede yesterday’s news.

To those who see a messiah in Noynoy Aquino will be disappointed. He’s no messiah. Six years are not enough to change the Philippines and to clean up the mess that was created from the dark years of the dictatorship up to the last twelve years of incompetent leadership. If you’re hoping that corruption will be eradicated under the new Aquino presidency or that poverty will be gone, you’re asking for the moon folks. Yes, the Philippines have spoken and and answered resoundingly. A huge chunk of the population voted for the son of Asia’s two most prominent and respected democracy leaders to be the president of an impoverished nation.

Yes, the Philippines voted for change, albeit, briefly. If we look at the results of the national elections, it looks scary. I would like to think that it is the result of the declining level of education in the country and the lack of good influence on the voters particularly the youth. The country needs change, but not by piecemeal. It must be as a whole, a total overhaul. History tells us that the once second most prosperous country in Asia is now the sickest man in the region. The problem in the Philippines is that the culture of corruption is imbedded in all of us that the people became numb about it and just accept it as a way of life. Though we as citizens don’t want it, but deep inside, somehow we know that one way or another, the leaders we elect will commit corruption and other wrong things once he or she is in power.

  47. In Defense of President Noy
    September 24, 2010
    By June Rey Laguna

I must confess. Had I been registered to cast a vote on the democratic selection of the next President of the Philippines, I would never waste this Constitutionally-given privilege over a candidate named Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III. I never envisioned him to be the ultimate solution to our poverty-stricken nation. To think that he could mend the wounds our country has suffered from the faulty governance of previous administrations was simply an illusion to me. In other words, I thought of him as an incompetent fool who would completely destroy what were left damaged. I was never a believer of him.

In the list of aspiring candidates who were either brave or fool enough to shoulder the burden of being a President, I would have voted for Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro. Not only does he has an excellent track record on his career as a government official, he as well was a Bar Exam topnotch. I admired him, both for the intellectual and moral fibers he humbly displayed. But he lost the opportunity to bail us out of previous dispensation. “Thanks to the death of your parents Noynoy. You have now catapulted from being Kris’ brother to a President. Don’t you want to extend your deepest gratitude to the millions of Filipinos who have helped you secure your position? Out of their sympathy?” I asked in shadows.

I must confess further that I was extremely disappointed when Noynoy won the Presidential race. What President could he make when he hadn’t proven himself to be an efficient and effective public servant during the nine years he leisurely spent in the Legislative Department? What President could he become when didn’t have any prior political experience to govern a large bureaucracy of cynics and mobs? It was a despair I mourned during the first days of his proclamation. The light that the election projected in the height of all these dysfunctions in our political system had faded. Oust Noynoy.

But see? I have moved on. I just realized that to remain bitter and disappointed over Noynoy’s victory in Presidency will not do any good. It will not change the fact that Noynoy is, indeed, our President, and that he has become our new champion to combat poverty, corruption, and terrorism that for years have plagued us out. It will not alter anything of the truth that is right before us. He is our new hope amidst this morally and financially ravished lands.

I have now come to his defense against groups and individuals whose mouths could utter no better than a bullet shot from a pistol. Move on, people. Forget about your candidates who you think could make a better President than Noynoy himself. Forget about dreaming of a better place which you think your candidates could realize. Forget about everything that the national election has sparked anything but hope. Forget it all. Move on. Face what is in forward. Stop lingering in bitterness.

In a span of two months, Noynoy’s administration is mobilizing every unit under its control to bring about positive changes in our country. It is working hard to reestablish trust and support from the world that which the previous administration had harbored from us. But also, within this given period, the Philippines has suffered a great blow after the Manila Hostage crisis.

I have read a thousand words of disgust and malcontent in the way Noynoy managed the situation. They said that he pushed himself in shadows to let everything just unfold the way they should. They said he was a failure both in the name of his office and his title. They said he could have done better than fancily blowing heart-shaped smokes in the event of this. They said he could have cried than smiled. They said all these and those. But they said nothing about themselves. Who in the world is Noynoy? As I see it, he is a human titled as the Philippine President. He is a human susceptible to just about everything. Noynoy is a human. Not a superhero. Because if he was, he could had just walked into the bus, and smashed the madman with his iron fist. But no. Reality does not honor a wishful thinking. In reality, everything has to be carefully planned and implemented to manage a crisis like that. And believe it or not, that is not as easy as it sounds. Plans are subject to imperfections. After all, we are living in a world of imperfections. So how can anybody condemn someone for not being perfect?

And please. Be reminded that it was not Noynoy’s fault. It was not even a fault by the PNP/SWAT. Not even by the madman Mr. Mendoza. That crisis was not the fault of the aforementioned people. Blame it to our political system. For years, we have been victims even without realizing it. By now and then, as early as our children are born, they already are victims. We are victims of our political system. And that cannot be accounted in behalf of our newly elected President. Noynoy didn’t deserve all the words of hate both from the local and international people. They kept criticizing without really hearing what they were saying: a truth that condemns us of being too self-righteous.

Even by that, I never abandon Noynoy while he is in office. I believe that he can save us from all these turmoils that disturb peace, oneness, and nationalism. If you think he was/is a fiasco, give him another chance to prove his efficacy as a President. Besides, it has only been two months. You can not hope to see dramatic changes in our country within that period of time. Progress is a process that could take years to appreciate. Progress is a long-term goal that needs hardwork and support from all the subordinates, from us. All the wealthy countries were not founded as stable as they are now. They were once torn by poverty and corruption. And that fact serves as a proof that hope does not leave those who believe.

Do you know how many years it would take to make a tree grow? And do you know how extra years it would take to bear fruits and flowers? That would be the years ahead of us if only we would believe that a seed would grow into a tree.

To all the critics of Noynoy who knew nothing but kill him with their words, I appreciate your democratic involvement in the regard of all this. To express concern in national issues is vital especially in our maturing democracy. But please, know your limitations. As much as I appreciate your concerns, please appreciate as well the fact that Noynoy could be our salvation. He is yet to make a legacy, may be not as a senator, but as a President. After all, 15,208,678 Filipinos believed in him. And that has to count for something.

By throwing words that express hate and disgust, and by demanding endlessly for the promised reforms in the country, let me ask you one thing. Are you becoming a part of the solution? Or a part of the problem? Think about it.

  50. President Noynoy Aquino — his reputation continues to grow, doesn’t it, that he is ubod ng bait sa kaniyang shooting buddies and college classmates?

Nice piece there by June Rey Laguna, whoever he is. Good he is a new convert to Pres. Aquino III’s side. From being opposed to him during election time to being his defender. The opposite is happening with Pres. Aquino III allies during the election campaign. Especially the volunteers who really served as the workhorse of the campaign. His words are hurting to them, thinking of them volunteers are his enemies now that they are critiquing his actions. I believe these people or the people themselves have earned the right to critic him be the criticism mild or harsh. Critiquing helps in establishing proper directions.

It is not good to ask whether if one is part of the problem or solution. I say for as long as you do not violate the laws, pay your taxes, do your job right with sincerity and truthfulness and abide by the pledge of allegiance then you have earned the right to critic the President. If you do the opposite – violate the laws…break your pledge of allegiance – then you have no right to criticize the President. He is President with enormous powers and resources entrusted to him by the people, he is and should be thankful of that. He can very well defend himself. Critics can only dispense with words good or harsh.

#51 On your right to criticize the President(of the PI): Good luck with that.

Any citizen has the right to criticize their president. In fact, any person has the right to criticize any one, particularly those who have control over their lives!

We should stay put where are,how many of productive manpower which mostly talented, hardworking individuals and some are expert in thier field, due to existing condition of economic and governance are impossible to live comfortably, seeking greener pastures in other parts of the planet.DO you think they are not involved in the 3K,from barrangay level up to they boarding the craft where they are heading.Could you imagine how many agencies milking them just to go where they wanna go.A PRODUCT can’t prosper if there no are available consumer, that’s why one is always victim of his convictions.Totally eradication are needed if all would suffer, let the course the its path to reach the point. just for the next generations.

May isa lang akong napuna sa comment ni June Rey Laguna, whoever you are, but welcome to this kingdom of Ellenville, that being a bar topnotcher nowadays does not offer any indication of being an effective leader. I know some of our Bar Exam topnotchers could not even defend themselves and argue in open courts elementary cases that would test their knowledge of the law unlike during the past. I could cite one example of an Ateneo graduate who topped the Bar Exam in the early 80’s who is the subject of numerous lawsuits here in the U.S. who was eventually disbarred but now I heard, works with a powerful politician in the South. Anyway, yes I agree with you that at this time we all should give and support P.Noy and we need to give him a chance to recover and be a part of the solution.

    Just for fun.

    Tanong;

    Piliin ang sagot sa mga sumusunod;

    a] hawak sa balls
    b] hawak sa neck
    c] hawak sa nose
    d] hawak sa ears
    e] hawak dahil loyal siya
    f] all of the above

“If you’re hoping that corruption will be eradicated under the new Aquino presidency or that poverty will be gone, you’re asking for the moon folks.”

Thats what we expect, thats why PNOY was elected. Villar and Estrada didnt win because they are perceived to be corrupt and Gibo will just be an extension of the previous corrupt administration. He wasnt a better politician but he is not tainted. He has been in office for four months only so its still to early to tell if we voted for a warrior or a wimp. Next Year will be different.

Yung IIRC ni De Lima merely confirmed what everyone knows, which malfunctioning officials and entities are culpable of negligence. Lim admitted his mistakes, Puno admitted he was not able to do anything.

    Pards,

If that’s the case why create a committee in the first place? Aquino could have instead ordered the DOJ to file the case in court. Kaya nga fact-finding eh. I myself agree with the recommendations basing on the investigation conducted. The same goes through with the thousands of documents that need the President’s signature and approval. Sino gusto nyong ES? Si Ermita? Angara? Zamora?
Uh uh. Bilib ako sa mga yan. Matatalino. Magagaling. Walang sabit ang mga EO na ginawa. Pulido. EO 464 comes to mind. At least may nakikita tayong dokumento at nahihimay. Noong nakaraan, lahat puro nakatago.

The President has the sole preorogative to approve or disapprove the recommendations of the Committee he created. De Lima knows that. Kahit sinong naging boss dito sa atin alam natin yan. Or would u rather have the situation na walang action na gagawin ang Malacanang? Right or wrong, a decision has got to be made. Acceptable or not, he alone will answer for it. 😛

PNoy have said before that after the IIRC report is done and submitted to him, heads will roll. Wala pang ulong gumugulong ni isa. 😛
