Trillanes applies for amnesty, has no regrets

By Ryan Chua, ABS-CBN News

“Let me be clear. We admit guilt as far as rising up against the most corrupt president this country ever had,” he said. “Proudly.” – Trillanes

Reiterating that they have no regrets about rising against the previous administration, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV and other Magdalo soldiers on Wednesday formally applied for amnesty, which requires an admission of guilt.

In his application form, Trillanes signed a portion acknowledging his involvement in uprisings that entail “a violation of the 1987 Constitution, criminal laws, and the Articles of War” and recanting his statements in the past that are contrary “to this express admission of involvement/participation and guilt.”

Trillanes clarified that this does not mean admitting that what they did against the Arroyo administration was wrong.

“Ever since hindi naman kami nagpanggap na ‘yong ginawa namin ay natutal na ginagawa ng sundalo. We are man enough to admit we have broken rules in the pursuit of our cause,” he told reporters after submitting his application.

Trillanes said what they signed was just a general admission of guilt of some rules, and does not mean they’re regretting anything.

He added that they’re not admitting to the charge of coup d’etat because it has not even been proven.

“Let me be clear. We admit guilt as far as rising up against the most corrupt president this country ever had,” he said. “Proudly.”

When he buckles down to work at the Senate this month, Trillanes vowed to prioritize measures related to the military, such as modernizing the Armed Forces amending the National Defense Act. He said he will also push for another increase in soldiers’ combat pay.

Those who are trained to lead men, and those forced by events or circumstances to lead others within or outside the pale of the law, something happen to them when the establishment incarcerates them. Mandela, Sukarno, even Marcos demonstrated national acceptance and prominence.

The Magdalo inmates should be aware that a future of selfless service awaits them. Senator Trillanes could be our President within a decade, if he survives the machinations of other aspirants who have not experienced the political maturation caused by imprisonment. By their imprisonment the people will know them.

By analysis, I think the country is in the turning point after the Magdalo soldiers had been freed. Also, the present Pnoy admin is trying hard in correcting the ills
of the past. The President only needs the right people on the right places, and be more tougher on decision making. He should put in heart the Country first. Cleaning the AFP-PNP with rightful officers is a step towards hope and change.Giving chances to Sen. Sonny Trillanes and the Magdalos,Generals and other outstanding-honorable Officers to serve the country was a rightful vision that was transfromed into Action by the PNOY and the DND. This is making the nation back to a great again stature. Lets all be Hopeful and Prayerful, as late Cory did , GOD is listening !.

Very proud of Sen. Sonny and fellow Magdalos…

The end justifies the means! I hope and pray that the Senator will always remember the reasons why he signed that piece of paper. May he not lose sight of the Big Picture and the reasons why he was incarcerated for seven long years! Good Luck Senator!

  7. ang ganda ng pagkakasabi niya, “Let me be clear. We admit guilt as far as rising up against the most corrupt president this country ever had,” he said. “Proudly.” – Trillanes…..

Sonny Trillanes, guilty sila, as far as rising up against the most corrupt gma-admin.

I am glad that Trillanes, Querubin and the other patriotic soldiers are finally out. I liked what Trillanes said that he admitted gullt as far as rising against the most corrupt president ever.

I am just hoping that some people pursue in filing cases against Arroyo and her cohorts. It seems that people are not so hot in pursuing the most corrupt president. Those who were jailed under Arroyo should now work in getting her and her minions in jail!

  10. Di ko makakalimutan ito: “We were told that a dialogue will be held, but she kept yakking and yakking”.

  11. Yes, natawa ako diyan Tongue. Perfect description of Gloria Arroyo. And she was in pajamas pa raw.

Anf after yakking and yakking she ordered the chief PSG to arrest Trillanes and “iparada mo yan sa media”.

  12. norpil norpil

i hope sen trillanes will pursue the arroyos and their cohorts though it may look like vengeance on his part. now that lacson is out it seems to me there is only him to look up to.

Now that Trillanes has admitted rising up, that fact can be judicially noticed.

Note that Honasan got off the hook because of a reinvestigation by RaulGon. Honasan was not exonerated by the Court. So the coup charge may be refiled, and with the admission of Trillanes and others, all that needs to be proven now is that Honasan masterminded it.

Any of the incarcerated ones may just agree to serve as witness to stick a knife on Honasan’s back, and give him a dose of his own medicine.

Of course, Honasan can also apply for amnesty, and swallow his pride.

  14. rose rose

nakalusot na naman si Hodasan…as sax said above..”give him a dose of his own medicine” and make the medicine a million times stronger na malason na siya…

“Let me be clear. We admit guilt as far as rising up against the most corrupt president this country ever had,” he said. “Proudly.” – Trillanes

Very robust words coming from him. I will not denigrade this senator, only to wish him the best.

However, corrupt or most corrupt (big or small) is an allegory of dishonesty. If there is one politician I’m closely keeping an eye on; it’s him. I have already some unpleasant ones in my mental library.

  16. tru blue tru blue

“and make the medicine a million times stronger na malason na siya…” rose

Also robust words coming from a self-proclaimed religious prayerful woman.

  17. rose rose

tru blue: I don’t proclaim myself as a “religious prayerful woman”. I go to church and obey the commandments of God and the Church, just like you and many others.

Seguro the better word for me to use was not “malason” but “ma over dose na” sorry for the wrong choice of word.P,o kung sa palagay mo I am a “religious prayerful woman, salamat and Amen. so be it.again I am sorry for the wrong choice of words.

Incidentally, tumaba na ba si Boy Ex? I have not seen him lately. Ano ang tumaba ang katawan niya o ang bulsa niya? the next time I go home to Antique,I will make it a point to see him.para mayaya ko ang kapatid niya sa bulangan at makahingi kay Boy ng puhunan.thanks for the tip.

  18. rose rose

tru blue: ang ibig mo bang sabihin sa “robust” ay strong and hard? masama ba ang magsalita at mag gamit ng strong and hard words to drive a point? mea culpa for offending you.

Maka alis na nga. Nag umpisa na ang snow at na nawagan na ang Jersey City for the coming snow storm.

Again my thanks for calling my attention to use the “proper” words.

  19. tru blue tru blue

Rose, you are Mother Teresa in my vision; kaya was taken aback by your vindictive words “malason” and you just added “ma-overdose” pa, hehe….it’s a clear departure of your religious personality I suppose.

Of course you didn’t offend me, thought it was the other way around. Good lord, please use killer words as you please to make your point of view…pag na ban ka ni Ellen, eh that’s your own doing. Cheers!

“Nag umpisa na ang snow at na nawagan na ang Jersey City for the coming snow storm.” – rose

You too!? It snowed here also a few days ago and was to dump a sprinkle today….it never happened, and no meteorologists was fired.

Btw, I’m referring to your NJ Governor not Boy ex.

kannina idinaos namin dito sa New Jersey (at Holy Face
Monastery) ang kapistahan ng Black Nazarene…inspite of the cold weather and the prediction na may snow storm marami din ang nagpunta…there was a whole day of prayers and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and a procession around the grounds..as in most cases..ang trabaho ko ay magtinda ng kandila…at magbilang ng “pera”..kahit dito sa NJ ang dami ng devotees ng Nazareno…and in the two years that we had this celebration maraming non-Filipinos ang nag participate at nag dasal.ang sabi nga ni Fr. Bernard, a Benedictine monk..ang Jesus, the Nazarean went a long way from Spain, to Mexico, to the Phil. and now in NJ…and as in most Filipino events..maraming pagkain…but unlike in many cases walang masiadong “to go”…kasi ang mga hindi nakaing pagkain ay dinadala sa soup kitchen ng mga Sisters ni Mother Teresa sa Newark…ang devotion nating mga Filipinos inspire other ethnic groups and we here at Holy Face (as well as at Holy Rosary) work together…nakakataba ng puso. Many prayed for a good weather (no snow) and indeed walang snow..answered prayers tunay…
