The incredible Dennis Cunanan

Dennis Cunanan
Dennis Cunanan
Dennis Cunanan, the deputy director general of Technology Resource Center (TRC), said of the some P600 million PDAF (Priority Development Assistance Fund) or pork barrel that passed through his office and ended up in the pockets of three senators and Janet Napoles, he didn’t get a single centavo.

Incredible! As incredible as Cunanan, a college undergraduate, getting appointed by Gloria Arroyo as executive director of the Commission on Higher Education.

Thanks Karina Constantino-David for reminding the public of that attempt by Cunanan to put one over the Filipino people.

David, former chair of the Civil Service Commission (she is now a member of the board of directors of the Government Service Insurance System) recalled that CHED officials and the Employees Union were protesting the appointment of Cunanan as executive director because he misrepresented himself as a having graduated from the University of the Philippines.

“We investigated and true enough, he did not graduate from college, a basic requirement for almost all government posts. He was told to leave.”

Cunanan’s lawyer, Odessa Bernabe, has a creative explanation for that foiled fraud, as reported in the Inquirer.

Bernabe said Cunanan was not fired. He resigned. Okay, sige na.

Bernabe said:“He was not kicked out. He was even thankful then because he found out his educational status and started attending to it accordingly.”

He didn’t know that he was not a college graduate? For the position to oversee the country’s higher education!

Bernabe said, instead of UP that he put in his biodata, Cunanan eventually acquired a college diploma from Lacson College in Pasay City.

Cunanan is among those charged for plunder in connection with the multi-billion pork barrel scam operated by Janet Napoles in connivance with senators, congressmen, legislative staff and other government officials.

The inclusion of Cunanan among the respondents was based on the testimony of Benhur Luy, the primary whistleblower in this anomaly that has dragged Senators Juan Ponce-Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada and Bong Revilla.

Cunanan recently came out and offered to turn state witness. He has been admitted provisionally under the Witness Protection Program.

If admitted in the WPP, Cunanan would be dropped from the plunder charge sheet. What is he giving to the government and to the Filipino people to go unpunished for conniving with those who deprived the people billions of pesos that would have otherwise been spent to build classrooms, health centers, farm-to-market roads and other projects?

De Lima said the information Cunanan is giving them will bolster the testimony of Benhur Luy.

There we go again, just like in the case of Ruby Tuason. Cunanan is not giving anything more than what Luy and his fellow original whistleblowers have given.

But unlike Tuason who offered to give back P40 million of her loot, Cunanan is not giving back anything.

ABS-CBN’s Lynda Jumilla reported that Cunanan is selling his house in White Plains for P40 million. There are also talks of his family leaving for abroad.

Cunanan denies he owns the White Plains house. It’s in the name of his brother. He also said he is willing to open his bank accounts to prove his claim that he didn’t get any commission for the services he gave to Napoles and the three senators.

He really takes us for idiots. That we cannot think that stolen properties are not put under the thief’s name. That one can stash his loot under another person’s name.

But what is puzzling is how he is able to make De Lima believe him.

After Cunanan, I will no longer be surprised if tomorrow De Lima tells us that they have accepted Napoles as state witness.

Why don’t we go all the way and get Enrile, Estrada and Revilla as well. Let’s go for the most incredible.

Sometimes, I’m beginning to think and suspect that some of these witnesses are being planted by Malacanang for reason only it knows. Cunanan like Ducut are untouchables in this Pnoy administration. Ducut has long been implicated in anomalies. And now Cunanan even if he testifies as witness for the government was involved in Pork Barrel scam. Yet, Pnoy did not fire Cunanan and Ducut.

Cunanan was even so brave to suggest that the government (BIR) could check his lifestyle. A mansion worth P40M is now being pointed to him as owner; yet he denied he’s the owner and said it’s owned by his sibling. This is the most abused alibi of most crooks.

Incidentally, Cunanan and Ducut were both GMA appointees…and Kapampangan (no offense to Kapampangan). Why is Pnoy retaining many of GMA’s appointees most of whom have been implicated to scams?

It’s too obvious. The way they are holding the whistleblower/witnesses! All the delays going on in the filling cases directly to court? All the shows in the senate…Seems like they already influence witnesses. Don’t expect justice because it seems being fix! I won’t be surprise that one day all the accused are not guilty due to technicality. Trojan? maybe traitor in the cause of justice and good governance?

  3. gstierra gstierra

This weasel built most of his political connections within the Philippine Jaycees hobnobbing with the likes of JV Ejercito and his cronies (who, by the way, is just as greedy as his father but waaay smarter which is actually pretty frickin’ scary). These people are all parasites feeding off the backs of hard-working filipinos. I hope they all get whats coming to them.

  4. snooper snooper

Gee, Napoles is not even a high school graduate and now Cunanan is not even a college graduate too but they both outsmarted those who may have doctorate degrees. They are both liars too.

  7. MPRivera MPRivera

“……He didn’t know that he was not a college graduate? For the position to oversee the country’s higher education!….”

    aaaaah, ganu’n?

It’s obvious that he’s just planted, why would Dilemna be so defensive of him, parang meron siya crush kay Dennis kung maipagtanggol. 😀

  10. vic vic

Or maybe even Revilla and Estrada as state witnesses against Pnoy…when there are mountains and ocean of evidence to convict all these profiteers without even converting anyone of them to Saintly status… And there is Mrs. Enrile who came into the open to tell the public what already been an open secret and keep the open secret the public need confirmation locked with her Honest Johnny would not even Smuggle a toothpick (and why on earth anyone will smuggle a toothpick?)) and has not stolen a peso of taxpayers money but a sinner and of course you can send a man to JAIL for his sins…Can You?

    Thieves and Liars…nothing less…

#3 I beg to disagree about JV. He’s far from Jinggoy. JV’s more decent and educated. If being a politician is your basis for criticizing JV, you’re wrong. When JV first wanted to run as Senator, Jinggoy wanted too and JV gave way disappointed upon Erap’s wish. JV being the son of a mistress always is at the losing end in the family. But he takes this if only to please Erap and maintain family relationship. Of course if Erap is gone, that’s another thing.

  12. olan olan

The law was violated! Plunder and Malversation ito. Senators are involved including others in congress..Is luy’s record not enough? naimbestigahan na sa DOJ, sa Senado, nasa Ombudsman na sooo? Are you waiting for Christmas or a new President??????? Many people are involved they have life too live move on sa ngalan ng HUSTISYA at GOOD Governance..so that ang may kasalanan magbayad at ang wala malinis ang pangalan! The witnesses did their part and they cooperated. Why drag this case forever? Its about time the court handle this matter once and for all! mahiya naman kayo sa taongbayan. Maawa kayo sa mga tumulong. People are NOT stupid!!!
Dilemna ano po ba???? All show but nothing to show for it playing with peoples life??????

  13. Mannie Mannie

Luy’s testimonies were more than enough. No less than DOJ’s De Lima said that. Why they’re still getting more witnesses telling the same things is a waste of time.

  14. vic vic

What is needed is just a couple at Most of Start witnesses, to corroborate other solid evidences like bank records, financials records, sworn statements from other witnesses not implicated in the Scams, communication records and even expense records and gifts given can all be presented as evidence of unexplained wealth and can be traced back from Secret Commissions from Pork and other Criminal Activities,,and if someone said it is easily said than done well it can be done…

  15. jcj2013 jcj2013

Cunanan talked with Pogi and Sexy on the phone. That’s not in Luy’s testimony. It’s up to the Ombudsman to decide on whether Cunanan be admitted as state witness or not.

  16. MPRivera MPRivera

  18. Tongue,Belinda said Dennis is not a relative.

A notorious Cunanan who was related to her husband was Andrew Cunanan, who killed Versace. Remember him?

  19. Becky Becky

This guy is really something. Of all government agencies, he chose CHED. Hindi man lang TESDA or any other offices not involved with higher education which was his deficiency. Really incredible!

What is happening to De Lima? Pababa na pababa ang standard for witnesses.

  20. chi chi

This incredible Dennis (might be an unknown relative of Andrew Cunanan :-D) was appointed to the top government positions lacking CSC eligibility by three presidents Estrada, Arroyo (a fake one btw), and Noynoy. Sino konek sa kanila ni Dennis? Inkredibol talaga!

  21. chi chi

Ruby Tuazon after her copied testimony is in the US now. After the senate hearing, malamang papayagan din ni de Lima na umalis and take up job sa Misssouri si Dennis Cunanan.

Ano klase itong gimik ni de Lima?

  22. Mannie Mannie

De Lima is only following Malacanang’s (Pnoy) instructions. Cunanan (a Kapampangan like untouchable Ducut) was convinced by Mar Roxas to testify. Roxas would not have done this without Pnoy’s consent.

  23. chi chi

Palace people are f^^$%# up, if this is so #23!

  24. Mannie Mannie

My impression about this Cunanan is simple: If he could fake and lie his scholastic records, what more getting kickbacks.

  25. snooper snooper

If Binay wins, wala ng kaso! Abswelto si Enrile at Jinggoy. Game over!

Relating to the Topic of Lifestyle check of Govt officials elected, appointed and career, how this for a kicker… our Provincial Premier in a Bold Move which she knew very well going into a very possible Spring election in her minority Govt, the opposition would not dare to defeat, announced that Her Govt will table a Legislation MANDATING all Elected officials, their Staff and all employees of the Provincial Govt agencies to Post their Expenses on Govt Web For every one to Access The bill is tentatively titles SHOW ME the Money. And it will be on up to date statement of expenses…

  27. vic vic

SALN already required for elected officials but SALNs do not include details of expensed that could tell tell the illegal use of privileges and allowances.

  28. Mannie Mannie

MANILA – Why won’t Technology Resource Center (TRC) director general Dennis Cunanan admit that he received pork barrel kickbacks from businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles?

Sen. Grace Poe has a theory.

Speaking to radio DZMM on Friday, Poe said it is possible that Cunanan might be afraid of losing a plum post in the Junior Chamber International (JCI) or Jaycees if he admits he pocketed bribes in the pork barrel scam.

  29. vic vic

And how this for an established process.. A

A city south of Toronto some 30 minutes by highway seems to have problem locating some $766 millions appropriated for public works for the last 7 years as reported by its city manager to the Council instead of panicking the Council is giving the city Staff a specific time to locate where the money has gone before Calling the OUTSIDE AUDITORS to figure out if crimes been involved and Police will be brought in for Criminal Probe. So far the city staff found out some 66 millions accounted for and all could be just some record keeping boboos.

The point here is there will be no Circus that. Will be coming to town but independent auditors and Police with their mandate to round up the Bad Guys.

  30. vic vic

And why would the outside auditors and the police have to work together when there is suspicion of Fraud? Police has the mandate and power for court application to intercept communication, access Bank records, summon financial records, and search warrants. Witnesses without these evidence will not standup on court under the principles of proof beyond Reasonable Doubt.
De Lima can have her platoon of plunderers turned witnesses for the State and she will be able to secure convictions without the documentary evidence other than AFFIDAVITS. Unless these plunderers keep their lots under their BEDS or inside their closets then she can be excused for her affidavits.

Dennis pays a lot for PR, he hold press conferences, post PR photos in his Facebook Account before he shut it down. It is true that he splurges and travels with his whole family around the world. No shame. His father-in-law is the former mayor of Dagupan, the old Fernandez, an ally of the former House Speaker de Venecia. Dennis is a real crook, what do you expect from someone who can paint a rosy picture of his academic background and his bogus achievements? Their whole clan including the wife’s side, splurge and live such extravagant lives. He dares people to check his bank accounts, check the bank accounts of his family and his in-laws too. Dennis PR profiles in the web does not do him any good, it only highlighted how he can lie through his teeth.
