A scary scenario: A drug-tainted police officer has a protector in Malacanang?

If Police Supt. Marvin Marcos has long been identified as a protector of drug lords, why is somebody high up in Malacañang protecting him?

What does this make of President Duterte’s bloody campaign to eliminate illegal drugs in the country which has claimed the lives of some 3,000 and still counting?

Marcos has been under protective custody at the Philippine National Police in Camp Crame in Metro Manila together with his team involved in the killing of Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa, Sr in the wee hours of Nov 5 while imprisoned in Baybay Provincial Jail in Leyte.

Until his involvement in the Espinosa killing, Marcos was chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Eastern Visayas.

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa revealed Tuesday that “someone higher” asked him to reinstate Marcos to his position in CIDG Region 8.

It sent everybody guessing because higher than the PNP chief would be a cabinet member. PNP is under the Department of Interior and Local Government. Was it DILG Secretary Ismael Sueno, many asked?

Yesterday morning, De la Rosa gave more hints who was the “ninong” of Marcos: “Kumpare andun sa Malacañang. Hindi nag-utos, nakiusap na pagbigyan,” he said.

De la Rosa quoted his kumpare as saying, ‘’’Pre yung grupo ni Marcos nagpapatulong na kawawa iyong pamilya nila kung maiwan doon, matanggal sila doon at mapunta dito sa Crame so baka pwede mong mareconsider yung decision mo na tanggalin sila doon.”

He said he immediately acceded saying, “Sabi ko ‘yes’ walang problema, for humanitarian purposes, I’m willing to do it.”

Sen. Leila de Lima said her sources at PNP told her it was Christopher “Bong” Go, special assistant to the President who called up Dela Rosa to reinstate Marcos.

“It’s an open secret na in-order niya (Go) si General Bato by phone call na i-reinstate [si Marcos].” De Lima said adding that some PNP officials are dismayed with Marcos re-instatement.

In a statement, Go called De Lima’s information “pure hearsay and unsubstantiated.”

“I did not ask General Bato to reinstate him (Marcos),” Go said adding that he does not recall having met the controversial police officer.

I also do not interfere with the affairs and functions of the PNP,” Go further said.
Go is one of the, if not the most, trusted persons of President Duterte. He was Duterte’s chief of staff when he was Davao mayor.

In Malacañang, he acts as the President’s chief cordon sanitaire, screening all the president’s appointments as well as documents for the chief executive’s signature. He is head of the Presidential Management Staff and holds a cabinet rank.

The question is, if what De Lima said was true, did Go do it on his own? Or did he do it upon instruction of the President?

It will be recalled that while everybody found preposterous the version of Marcos and his team that they killed Espinosa because he shot at them, Duterte stood by them. “I believe in the version of the police. If they have a version that proves otherwise, then a case should be filed against the police.”

He reiterated his assurance that “The police have nothing to be afraid of. They’ve got my protection. I will support them.

During the Senate hearing two weeks ago, self-confessed illegal drug dealer Kerwin Espinosa, son of the slain mayor, said Marcos demanded and got from him a total of P3 million during the election campaign early this year to finance the candidacy of his wife for vice mayor in the town of Pastrana in Leyte.

In exchange for the money, the younger Espinosa said Marcos informed him on the location and time of the checkpoints so that they would not run into them.

The latest revelation of Marcos’ connection to Malacañang raises an alarming angle to the observation of Sen. Panfilo Lacson Espinosa during the Senate investigation on the killing of Mayor Espinosa.

“I was watching the demeanor of Supt. Marcos, Chief Inspector (Leo) Laraga and the two others … and I could see from their demeanor, masyadong confident,” said Lacson who was formerly PNP chief.

“Parang they were already anticipating that the President would back them up. And that’s a bad sign. Considering the blatant execution tapos ganun yung actuation – it’s bothersome,” Lacson further said.

A police protector of drug lords has a protector in Malacanang? That’s frightening.

The biggest drug protector in the country is Digong himself. His drug war, which only targets the small time pushers and addicts, is only a way to eliminate the street network of the rivals of those under his protection.

I will not be surprised if eventually Digong is unmasked as a drug user himself, together with his sons Paolo and Baste. We are in deep shit with this drug-crazed Administration.

    God help the Philippines.

  3. Naiipit na si Bato sa kadaldalan niya. I thought he was the only policeman we can trust, turns out, he is corrupt, too. My first hunch yesterday was Duterte himself. I thought De Lima was “burned” by her informer. Bato said “nandoon sa taas ang nakiusap” or something like that then he changed it this morning to a certain “kumpare” so all the time I knew that only Pdiggy and SILG Sueno are higher than Bato. But Duterte is closer to Bato so he must be the kumpadre.

When Bato challenged De Lima to name her source I realized De Lima must be correct, after all they want her to reveal information after they have been incessantly destroying her credibility. They want to identify the snitch. Waves of negative posts against Bato were dominating political fora in social media the whole day. They had to make Digong take the bullet in time for the late night news or the critics will be having a fiesta the whole weekend.

They want to nail Pnoy for breaking the chain of command in Mamasapano. Now Bato has introduced a kumpare into the same chain. Digong had to save Bato. Tsk tsk.

    Now we wait.

  4. So Marcos is the top assassin handler for the Death Squad in Region 8. Kerwin has even denied Bato’s statement that he has recanted his testimony against Albuera’s Police Chief. Marcos has a padrino in Duterte while the police chief has none. Bato wanted to even up the odds for the 2 Police Superintendents. Bato’s credibility is bottoming. The 5 police generals in the narco list must be laughing at him.

Ay sus, totoo ang hula ng lahat na si Digong mismo ang protektor ni Marcos.
This invalidates Duterte’s illegal drug campaign, it is a big lie from the beginning!
No wonder kumpare Peter Lim is very much free, enjoying himself somewhere out there.

  7. The new line is that it’s part of the strategy. He is investigating daw. Return Marcos to Leyte so he could continue his business and they identify his other clients.

    Ewan.

I too believe that the drug virus has once infected the Duterte family, as users, pushers, coddlers or all of the above. That is why Duterte, probably as act of contrition, is now unrelentless in eradicating or reducing this menace in our society. I hope he succeeds.

    …as an act of contrition…

  11. roc roc

act of contrition is when you promise the almighty that you will not to do the same mistake again, is sorry for your sins.

hindi yata act of contrition yan if you kill others who have made your life miserable. also, killing those that have made the same mistake as you is murder, not act of contrition.

digong should know what act of contrition is dahil close sila ni pastor quiboloy. dati.

I doubt if digong wins the war against illegal drugs. ang kapolisan mismo ang mga drug codllers, and since digong trusted and protect the kapolisan the likes of marvin marcos, digong’s war against illegal drugs is bound to fail.

  13. All of Peter Lim’s competitors are dropping dead one by one. Peter Lim is Cebu’s original “Jaguar” as confirmed by PDEA and is the same person who visited his kumpadre, Duterte, in the latter’s home.

The Odicta couple of Iloilo, Melvin and Miriam were killed in Caticlan after arriving in a RORO ship.

Jeffrey Jaguar Diaz was killed in Las Piñas by Cebu policemen.

Jay Jareño, also of Cebu was #1 drug lord in Toledo. He was killed in Cebu City

Mayor Rolando Espinosa was killed in Baybay Jail after CIDG-R8 elements said the mayor shot it out with them in total darkness while being served a search warrant.

And many more whose names I can’t recall now.

Peter Co must be in high heavens. Thanks to his kumpare, he is set to monopolize the drug trade in Cebu, Leyte, Iloilo and other islands in Visayas and Mindanao.
