It was Bibeth Orteza, movie and TV writer, who told us about the word “truth” having been made to disappear in the Constitution by Gloria Arroyo’s appointed Constitutional Commission.
Bibeth said her husband, film director Carlitos Siguion-Reyna, had noticed a number of disturbing additions to and deletions from the 1987 Constitution by Arroyo’s Con-Com headed by former UP President Jose Abueva.
Bibeth said the word “truth” was deleted in the Charter’s Preamble. I checked the Arroyo Con-Com’s “Proposed Revision for the 1987 Constitution” and true enough, the word “truth” is nowhere to be found.
The Arroyo Con-Com’s Preamble reads: “We, the sovereign Filipino people, imploring the aid of Almighty God, in order to establish a Government that shall embody our ideals, promote the general welfare, conserve and develop the patrimony of our nation, and secure to ourselves and our posterity the blessings of democracy under a regime of justice, peace, liberty, and equality, do ordain and promulgate this Constitution.”
The 1987 Constitution’s Preamble states: “We, the sovereign Filipino people, imploring the aid of Almighty God, in order to build a just and humane society and establish a Government that shall embody our ideals and aspirations, promote the common good, conserve and develop our patrimony, and secure to ourselves and our posterity the blessings of independence and democracy under the rule of law and a regime of truth, justice, freedom, love, equality, and peace, do ordain and promulgate this Constitution.”
Actually, aside from the word “truth’ in the preamble, other words and phrases taken out were “rule of law”, “love” and “freedom”. But they added the word “liberty”.
A preamble is defined as “an introductory part of a statute, ordinance, or regulation or is used for other explanatory purposes (as to recite facts knowledge of which is necessary to an understanding of the law or define or limit the meanings of words used in the law).” It gives an indication of the entire contents of the document.
Arroyo’s aversion to truth showed in this document. By deleting the word “truth” in the preamble, Abueva and company fashioned their draft Charter to suit Arroyo and her lies. What they did is a crime against the Filipino people.
Bibeth said Carlitos is doing a matrix comparing the 1987 Constitution and Arroyo draft Constitution. We expect to see more horrors.
As we take a closer look at the proposed amendments, we see the evil intent of Arroyo and her advisers, who closely supervised the drafting of the document.
Two weeks ago, we discussed Section 4 of the Bill of Rights in the Proposed amendments (No law shall be passed abridging the responsible exercise of the freedom of speech, of expression, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the Government for redress of grievances.) which is blatant attempt to control the people’s right of expression.
As Atty. Adel Tamano said in a TV talk show, the very introduction of the word “responsible” abridges freedom of expression.
The role of the military under “Declaration of Principles and State Policies” has also been shortened to “Civilian authority is, at all times, supreme over the military.”
Deleted is the portion that says “The Armed Forces of the Philippines is the protector of the people and the State. Its goal is to secure the sovereignty of the State and the integrity of the national territory.”
The deleted portion was what Angelo Reyes, then AFP chief of staff (now Interior Secretary) invoked to withdraw support from President Estrada and facilitated Arroyo’s power grab. After that provision served her well, she now wants it erased.
The Con-Com’s recommendations personifies Arroyo: her greed, her insecurity, her contempt for the people, and her thirst for power.
It should not be allowed to prosper.
I believe that illegitimate president Gloria Pidal Arroyo is very ALLERGIC to truth. It’s not a surprise if pro Arroyo CON-COM deleted the word TRUTH in the proposed preamble. Perhaps they want to legitimize her government of lies and fraud. It appears that the entire Arroyo government conspired to hide all traces of anomalies, fertilizer scam and electoral fraud committed by her political allies and cronies. She barred all key government officials, including military and police from appearing before congressional investigation committees without prior written approval of herself. The controversial Executive Order 464 is considered obstruction of justice and truth. GMA cannot sweep under the rugs her cheating, cover-ups and bribery forever. The Filipino people deserve to know the truth. Gloria Arroyo is synonymous to cheat, fraud and fake.
Arroyo’s is not a REGIME OF TRUTH. Abueva’s Con-Com is just telling the truth. At least they are not lying about this.
It is however ironic that inspite of a government built upon heaps and heaps of lies, GMA is still around and in the words of Bunger “is now stronger.” That last part is a lie, you will say. But that is exactly the point, how come she is still around?
The house of Gloria is built on shifting sand. It makes one wonder if it will still stand when the storm comes. But who will rise up to lead us when the house collapses? “Lord God, give us someone we can trust, someone who has a big heart for the Filipino people and not for himself, someone who will serve because of LOVE! Amen.”
TRUTH is one of the most important attributes of God. 1John 1:5-7 (NIV) states: “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”
This and other passages of Scripture show the clear correlation between light and truth on the one hand, and darkness and lies on the other.
You can draw your own conclusion.
Sad thing is, the chacha movement is a giant quagmire of endless eck-eck that GMA is willing to let the country be dragged into by the trapos-cum-forefathers and foremothers. Even if it fails, what does she care? It’s just a diversion from the garci tapes anyway. I’ve stopped giving the admin the benefit of the doubt and just assume the worst about their intentions. When you do that it turns out you can predict what they will do next

Truth is the fountain where trust springs. The preamble to the constitution is the building block where all provisions are based and written. This is a sad time when the very people who are supposed to uphold the spirit of freedom and liberty mislead us to compromise the truth and look the other way. So sad indeed. Pero hindi ako magtataka kung marami pa tayong mabubungkal dyan sa basurahan na Concom recommendation. Sabi nga ng kaibigan ko “garbage in, garbage out”. We should be vigilant and from now on start a campaign to get everyone informed and make sure that this foolishness never see the light of day! I already did.

The TRUTH hurts. There are times when people we do not like say something that we must accept. Eddi Gil said something worth considering: “yung existing generation, wala pag-asa as in zero kasi me cancer na malala pa. bakit kamo, eh maliit pa yan mind set eh pano agad maging corrupt, makalamang at maging gahaman, material na mentality. Dyan exposed ang existing generation”.

Sad to say, I am inclined to accept the indictment of Gil of the present generation. But I do not accept his conclusion that they are beyond redemption. Some say that redemption must come with violence and the flow of the blood of those guilty of bringing us to where we presently are, with the collateral damage of seeing dead bodies in the streets of Metro Manila. I DISAGREE. Bringing down those in power and installing in power people of the same up-bringing will only exacerbate our situation.
Is it at all possible to give a new heart, mind, and soul to the present generation indicted by Eddi Gil? Yes, it is. Should there flow of blood? Yes, but it must be innocent blood. Freedom was substituted with liberty. If we look up and analyze carefully why Abueva ConCom’s proposal in the Preamble is so different from 1987 Constitution Preamble which is in effect today, we all know, the majority of ConCom members are disciples of Lucifer Gloria Arroyo. Just and humane society deleted to justify the inhuman killing of Filipino people who opposed or exposed the anomalies and corruption in the government under the regime of Arroyo, especially journalists and human rights advocates. It re-enforces her unjust and inhuman society. Arroyo influences in Concom is very clear . Also her dishonesty and immoral governance.
The Abueva ConCom’s action is a glaring illustration of acceptance that that we Filipinos are morons and have no brain. And while we won the battle for our independence centuries ago through the labor and sacrificies of our brave soldiers/revolutionaries in the battle against mighty colonizers, the foriegn power particularly USA is still meddling in the affairs of our government through local puppets and elite groups and /or vested interests.
