Saguisag, still in fighting form

An accident three years ago that claimed the life of his wife, Dulce, and injured him severely has not diminished Rene Saguisag’s passion for the law. (Related article: Reminiscing with Rene)

In a rare interview by Probe TV, Saguisag shares his views about today’s Supreme Court. He laments the lack of professionalism of members of the High Court.

“Justices then were invisible. They are heard but not seen,” he said criticizing the active social life of Chief Justice Renato Corona.

He noted that Corona watched the Lettermen show two consecutive nights. “Di lulugo-lugo na siya the following day,” he added.

He also criticized the role being played by Supreme Court Spokesman Midas Marquez, who oftentimes has to explain the the High Court’s ruling. “If the decision is close, who is he speaking for. What if the decision is appealed?”

    Yes! It’s Rene Saguigag!

What he’s saying about the Corona’s very very social life and the justices hunger for publicity are a distraction not only on their performance/jobs but to the public. This is a reason why the kapinuyan has lost so much respect and interest in them.

And to Midas who wants to enter the movie yata, ginagawang pambala ng justices, gusto naman!

    Thanks, Ellen, sa Journo video.

He has a brilliant mind.

How can he put away a crook like GMA when he is another big CROOK?

The Dacers are right, hindi lang yung magbabayad sila ng sobra sobra sa kasong isinampa nila, para umusad yung kaso nila magbabayad pa sila ng “grease” money sa mga huwes at sa mga tetestigo laban sa pumatay sa tatay nila. Sa US nga naman, wala silang upfront money at mas may siguradong kahihinatnan ang kaso nila dahil sa US hindi nabibili ang hustisya.

YESssss….Ang tagal namin nag-antay sa iyo HON. Atty. RENE SAGUISAG!

Your my Idol–Hon.Atty. Rene Saguisag. Hope that Lord give you long life. We need you in this country.

“My dear justices, please keep silent… Supreme Court decision is final. No need to explain it in Public.”

Senator Rene Saguisag could be a great member of the Truth Commission

I think Saguisag has recovered from that tragedy that claimed the life of his wife. He can make a come back at the Senate. We need lawmakers like him and not the likes of Lito Lapid who attends session just for attendance checks and to cast his vote.

    # 10: i second the motion, Senator Rene Saguisag once again! This time, with more feeling. They can’t put a good man down. Saguisag is the symbol of a good politician belonging to the past and up to the present.

Senador? One voice in twenty four?

When Saguisag was still a practicing lawyer, he always represented the poor and victims of human rights pro-bono. He was among the very few senators who did not enrich himself.
I even doubt if he was paid by former Pres. Erap who he represented in his plunder case. Saguisag fought for Erap’s case until the end. A loyal friend and a man of principle.

He was the spokeman of Cory for one peso a year.

He could teach the Calaco (Carandang Lacierda and Coloma) a thing or two about proper representation of the President.

Cory could teach Noy how to be decisive. She fired Joker, who was Ninoy’s lawyer. Friendship is friendship, but public service is another thing. When friendship rears its head, public service flies out the window.

The late Cory was no better than her son Noynoy. Cory’s closest adviser was the late Cardinal Sin. She listened to the Catholic Church solely unlike Noynoy who is not afraid to go against the church like the RH Bill. Cory spent more time with the nuns in the convent praying than governance leaving the country’s political and economic matters to her team. Between Cory and Noynoy, I think I should pick the latter.

RE: Senator Rene Saguisag could be a great member of the Truth Commission ~sychitpin

Yes I agree that Atty. Rene Saguisag is a very good choice to be the Ombudsman. Kung pwede nga sana na Chief Justice sa Supreme Court because he knows how to implement TRUE JUSTICE! God Bless you Atty. Saguisag!

  19. tru blue tru blue

Nice to see him moving about. Saguisag was an Erap croony and he’s not clean until he explains what happened to Bentain. Explain your “true justice” remark to the missing persons families during Erap’s short rule.

  20. 2b1ask1 2b1ask1

Who’s clean? Saguisag’s only debt to Estrada was the appointment of his late wife to Estrada’s government. Saguisag was more of a Cory crony than an Estrada crony.

  21. From Ric Pinca:

Rene is consistently pro-democracy. But more than that, he is pro decency. That’s what makes him rise above the rest of government officials, past and present.
