Mortars were dud

Trillanes wants deeper probe of Marine debacle

Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, one of the leaders of the Oakwood mutiny of 2003, wants a deeper inquiry into the ambush.

Speaking through his lawyer Rey Robles, the former Navy lieutenant expressed his “deepest sympathy to the families of the soldiers who perished in the line of duty.”

“It is obvious from television footage that defective ammunition was issued to them [Marines], which may have resulted in their failure to effectively defend themselves against the enemy,” Trillanes said.

The ambush resulted in the death of 14 Marines and the wounding of nine others — the biggest casualty list of troops in a single encounter in the last two years, according to the military. Ten of the slain Marines were beheaded.

The issue of defective military weapons is close to Trillanes’ heart.

As one of the leaders of the mutinous Magdalo group of soldiers, he decried the supposed corruption in the government and the military that, he said, had deprived soldiers of proper uniforms, effective weapons and sufficient compensation and benefits.

Robles said Trillanes was calling on the government and the Armed Forces to pay serious attention to the matter and mount an investigation.

Many reasons

“The senator is currently gathering information regarding the incident and will act accordingly once [the investigation] is completed,” Robles said.

Lt. Col. Ariel Caculitan, spokesperson of the Marines, said there were many reasons the mortar rounds did not fire, including faulty storage.

“Given the nature of the way soldiers are deployed, it’s almost impossible to properly store ammunition,” Caculitan said in a phone interview.

He acknowledged that he had been in fire fights where mortar ammunition failed.

Having seen the GMA 7 video, he said the Tuesday debacle could “trigger an evaluation of mortar rounds” in military storage.

“It opens an opportunity and need for us to evaluate the performance of our ammunition and ordnance,” he said.

Critical situation

Defense Undersecretary Ernesto Carolina, a retired general, said encounters where ammunition failed had actually happened.

But Carolina, who retired in 2003 and who was actively involved in military efforts to rescue foreigners taken hostage by the Abu Sayyaf from a Palawan resort, said what happened in Basilan was “a serious matter.”

“I am sure the military is now looking into this,” he said, acknowledging that he had seen the GMA 7 video showing the mortar rounds that did not work.

He said it was saddening to see such an occurrence in a critical situation.

Carolina echoed Caculitan’s theory of faulty storage of the mortars. But he also cited improper handling, and even the manufacture, of the ammunition itself.

Unlike ammunition for firearms, mortar rounds are more sensitive, according to Carolina.

He said mortar rounds were stored in casings and could be affected by improper storage.

“We should learn from our experience and correct it immediately,” Carolina said, adding that this problem was supposed to have been addressed by the military earlier on.

Sen. Rodolfo Biazon, another ex-military man in the Senate, wants more information before attributing the soldiers’ bloody defeat in Basilan to defective weapons.

Biazon — who in 2001 instigated a Senate inquiry into the allegation that defective weapons had allowed Abu Sayyaf bandits cornered by the military in Lamitan, Basilan, to slip away — said his initial information indicated other factors could have affected the mortar launcher in Tipo-Tipo.

Ammo exposed to elements

“We cannot conclude that the weapons are defective because sometimes the troops, when they go out in the field, remove the encasement of their ammunition [to lighten their load]. This exposes the ammunition to the elements,” Biazon said.

“Sometimes [the rounds] get wet, or moisture messes up the propeller chargers. But we are still looking for more details,” he said.

Biazon also said that the Lamitan inquiry did not provide “conclusive evidence” that military-issued weapons were of poor quality.

  1. The unano has been boasting of US military aids to the Philippines, which have been getting old surplus from the US at exorbitant prices (they are not free after all), but they are useless since the soldiers are not properly instructed of their proper use. Worse is when their enemies have better weapons and training financed by Moslem fundamentalists led by Osama Bin Laden who is bent on making the world free of Christians and non-Moslems.

A friend told me that the US military exercises actually do not benefit Filipino soldiers because art the end of the day, they are not allowed to handle those US weapons that are well accounted for dahil takot daw iyong mga kano na nakawin ng mga sundalong pilipino ang mga gamit ng mga kano.

I flared up when I heard such statement coming from someone who told me he was de facto emissary of the unano. Ipinagmalaki pa as a matter of fact.

I have a suspicion that the unano is really putting these soldiers in this kind of dangerous situation, and make them look helpless fighting these tulisans alone to make US military intervention valid, and the idiotic lawmakers of the Philippine revoking a provision of the Philippine Constitution prohibiting the establishment of a foreign military base in the Philippines again. Worst is the plan to grant the same permit to Australians, too.

Kaya, pagbutihin mo Senator Trillanes. Ipahanap ang tunay na kamalian dito and have those responsible pay for these atrocities committed by Filipinos on their own kind.

  2. …because at the end of the day…

  3. Biazon pointed out that the weapons they carry are just too heavy that “when they go out in the field, remove the encasement of their ammunition [to lighten their load].”

This reminds me of the pathetic picture of Philippine soldiers walking barefooted up the mountains of Aurora down to the village devastated by a typhoon in 2003 to deliver food supplies to the villagers there. Hindi kasi makalipad ang helicopters nila samantalang kayang-kaya noong mga helicopters ng mga kano that came from Okinawa. Nakakaawang-nakakainis especially when we hear of these generals, et al pledging loyalty to the unano getting a lot of kickbacks for some shady deals, and being able to buy expensive condos etc. overseas.

Point is, wala na bang katapusan? Nakakasawa nang naririnig ito sa totoo lang.

I love the sensitivity of Trillianes! It goes a long way for our soldiers who are on the battle front and for their families who are grieving right now. We need more men like Trillianes who will look into the affairs of our soldiers.

The so-called commanders, generals and all the officers in tiyanak’s regime are busy eyeing at something else, a juicy position, lots of money, liquidating and abducting tiyanak’s enemies! That is why they are called BODYGUARDS! They are also efficient in election rigging and in pocketing the money in contracts for the AFP supplies etc…

Obviously, the death of the 14 marines have to be investigated. A large casualty like this is a big one for our AFP particularly the marines, who are the most valiant of all!

The AFP is uselessly deploying marines in the urban slums. Why were only 50 marines deployed to fight over 100 Abbus! This is where our Medal of Valor awardees earned their highest award. But where are the only two Medal of Valor Awardees of the Marines, Querubin and Parcon? They are in Tanay wrongly accused of rebellion! These two brave officers would have stirred the 14 marines away from the dangerous enemies. As Yuko rightly says, only the “sundalong kanin” are out there commanding our troops to their detriment! How many more blunders will these so called commanders have. They can not even find Father Bossi and the young Burgos. Tiyanak is left with the only papogi-pogi officers. Walang binatbat!

  5. chi chi

Had it not been for the video footage of the firefight with the Marines and the MILF, it will become just one of those encounters that will come to pass. As we posted earlier in another thread, a smiling Mrs. Gloria Arroyo under the headlines of the 14 marines and 10 beheaded seemingly unperturbed on the seriousness of the situation. Had it not Sen. Trillanes immediately reacted that he will go deeper into that unfortunate encounter because of the reported ineffective weaponry of the soldiers, it was at first wishy-washy with Esperon and his little boss.

But now, just to have something to say to offset the reaction of Sen. Trillanes, the commander in cheat said, which is just a de-kahon statement: The government will account for the perpetrators of this heinous attack in line with the rule of law, through the mechanisms of the peace process. The Armed Forces are duty-bound to hunt down and arrest those who treacherously killed and beheaded the soldiers…There can be no excuses or alibis for these acts of savagery.

But what about the dud mortars?

  8. gusa77 gusa77

My opinion on this matter, though I’m not expert on military weaponries, butI do have some knowledges, all weapons, ammo and war materials, passes and subjected thru rigid exprrimental&testing, qualification in all conditions of weathers, climates, terrains and all factors of environments and human usages, before it will be utilize of any gov’t components(thats in US) and also shelf life of items. Excuses of the way it was handle or removed from casing were not factors of failures.Factors of were idiotism in the parts of higher commands.Sending Troops in hostile areas, with unrealiable weaponries, like you are sending them in thier graves. Now the questions lies on budgets of Billions of pesos allocated for weapons, ammo and for all others been requested for.Purchasing low grades war materials are stupidy. Is what you always saying we will pulverized them with what? your mouth.Same old stories again, BULLSHITER will be always bullshiter like your cheat of staff and your idiot commander in cheating.

Mortar shells are used as explosives by the local al qaeda/abus they got from the military. Those duds were their rejects.

  11. chi chi

Aaaahhh, Trillanes has again put one over poootha gloria by his outright sensitive reaction to the massacre of the 14 marines.

Gloria impakta was pa-cute muna before releasing any orders to go after the ambushers!

  12. TurningPoint TurningPoint

A friend in the military text me that the soldiers who are ordered re-deployed by Gloria Arroyo in Metro Manila are equipped with more sophisticated weapons than the marines who are fighting the real battle in Basilan.

  13. chi chi

As long as the lameduck pekeng presidenta gloria impakta is being propped up by Assperon, it will always be “same shit, different day” in Pinas!

    Kawawa talaga ang bansang mahal!

  14. Chi,

This reminds of an interview we did for a program on WWII last year. One member of the MAKAPILI said that the Japanese were no match to the Americans at the end of the war kasi outdated na ang weapons nila.

  15. Hayop talaga itong si unano. Why is there a need to redeploy troops to Manila?

Let them serve their country and people the way they should, not what the criminal overstaying at the palace by the murky river tells them to do and say! Patalsikin Na, Now Na iyong poohtah na bugaw pa!

The excuses of Esperon and his tiny master is all CRS Syndrome (Can’t Remember Shit) The uncircumcised General do not take time out to learn history from Basilan, He often relegate to the margins within his cohorts mafiosi organizations because they aren’t normal,a mediocre and they are the threat to the main stream like the Geeks in high school. A lousy architect lacking self directed command.

A command is like a four legged stool any weak or missing leg and the stools falls apart. That’s what happen, the casualties is beyond comprehension because the table he construct has a weak leg. He need to change not only the capabilities of his arm disposal, but also how he think about the war especially dealing with a Barbaric jihads warrior freak. Any weapons on his arsenal will not transform his battalion soldiers unless he transform the way he think inside his finite cerebrum mind, the way he train, the way he masturbate, and they way his soldiers fight. Giving them defective weapon is like surrendering Bataan to the enemy.

  18. chi chi

Whoa! The lives of our marines in the field are being sacrificed in order for the Pidal woman to stay in her stolen throne forever and ever!

  20. Soldiers should be banned from Manila and suburbs.

  22. chi chi

    Yuko,

  23. TurningPoint TurningPoint

PNP is actually under the civilian authority, in this case, under the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). Under the Arroyo administration, it is not the case. Basta ginusto niya, so be it. She is more on protecting her stolen presidency than the lives of the soldiers in the batle zone. And in Metro Manila, she does not care whether the lives of the civiians will be lost.

  24. TurningPoint: PNP is actually under the civilian authority

    ****

This development in Basilan will hug the news in the days to come and will put Sen. Trillanes more into limelight with his desire to uplift the conditions of APF officers and soldiers. The administration and the military hierarchy will be in its toes as soon as Sen. Trillanes repeated the demands of the Oakwood mutineers regarding the proper uniforms, effective weapons and salaries. As to the soldiers benefits, Sen. Trillanes has already filed two Senate Bills which I already posted in another thread.

  28. I worked for the Tokyo Metropolitan Police as an interpreter for more than a decade and still cooperate in solving cases involving Filipinos in Japan that’s why when it comes to real police activities I can rebut any stupid claims by the lazy crooks in the Philippines especially coming from some silly officers of the AFP that has become lamentably an armed forces of tin soldiers with a criminal as their Commander in Cheat!

There is a big difference between these two:

An officer who has been with his troops, exchange fires with the rebels and claimed victoriously inspite of the antiquated firepower.

An officer who is a paper pusher and all days ass-licking on all senior officers and always looking forward for another flower, diamond or maybe a star in cap!

The former is Senator AT4 and the latter, Elticol Bacarro.

  34. Sinabi mo pa, Cocoy. One case of gun smuggling I handled had the accused testify that the guns he was smuggling to the Yakuzas were from some officer of the AFP, iyong mga nireklamo ni Senator Trillanes as a matter of fact in the Philippine Navy!

When I was a tourist guide/tour escort for a big travel agency in Tokyo, we went to Camp Bonifacio where they offer some trip to a shooting range there. Nagulat ako when someone, a soldier I guess, offering us guns for sale! Sabi bawal po. Hindi mo puedeng ipasok iyan without proper permit from the police in Japan. Aba sabi pa ng mokong, bibigyan daw ang mga turista ng permit from the AFP. Manloloko pa ang kumag!

  37. parasabayan parasabayan

The death of the 14 marines may simply be a wrong strategy, intelligence and malfunctioning of their weapons collectively. Or, my evil mind is working again, maybe the AFP need more military assistance from the powerful countries. So, the marines will simply have to be sacrificed!

Let us all pray for the souls of our departed marines and their grieving families. May the lives they lost give our country the re-birth that we so desire! They are our heroes and will always be remembered… They were called to serve to protect all of us! They died doing what they were sworn to do.

  38. From a general, whom I can’t name now:

It’s a tragedy to the max. First, there is no such thing as MILF area in the conduct of upholding the law.

Two, the MILF seems to be prepared to ambush because hundreds of them are involved at a short notice.

Three, the Marines are not on the attack position. They are along the road. The MILF can’t say lack of coordination.

Four, beheading our casualties gave our commander on the ground reasons to conduct counter offensive to the max. That we failed to do.

Lastly, there seems to be failure of intelligence. The fact that the MILF seems to be prepared and knowledgeable of the troops’ movement, hence the ambush.

  39. Elvira Sahara Elvira Sahara

Tama kayo! “Same SHIT, different day!” When are we going to have different president?

Malay natin, this is incident in Basilan, was only a “moro-moro” in preparation for the coming Terrorism law! Gone out of proportion lang, ba! In d pooootha’s government, everything is possible!

  40. From: Shegis

The presence of the media like GMA-7 accompanying marines, announcing on TV that marines are going after to look for Fr. Bossi. is the culprit for the deaths of many marines, in recent and previous incidents.

What are the consequences? MILF-abu sayyaf symphatizers or members in Manila can call their comrades to say that marines are now going there, therefore they can now hide Fr. Bossi and prepare for an ambush of the Marines.

I also watch a GMA reporter during 2001 at the height AFP-MILF battle, announcing on TV with video that a military convoy is patrolling a higway in Maguindanao. The next day that convoy was ambushed and many soldiers killed.

Also when GMA-7 was covering a hostage in Pasay of a young boy by a deranged man. The media even intervened. The presence of media with cameras in a delicate situation like that affects the operational capability of Policemen.

Also the media specially the TV stations should not report an ongoing operation, they should only report after the operation was finished, because it was like informing not only people but also the enemy.

I’m just concerned about the safety of our troops and people and not to restrict the freedoms of the media.

  41. TurningPoint TurningPoint

The failure of intelligence is most disturbing. It’s the responsibility of whoever was in command by exposing the troops to danger. Ang lumalabas, parang namamasyal sila noon sa liwanag ng buwan nang ma-ambush because there was no order to take the necessary precautions. And talking of command responsibility?

Yes, the beheading is enough reason to conduct counter offensive with all their might but they did not do it. Why? It’s because Esperon, when interviewed, was wary that it may imperil the on-going peace talks. So, the order not to fight back came from above. It’s almost the same dialogue of Sec. Ermita. Gloria Arroyo was silent at first. But when Sen. Trillanes voiced his concern, all of a sudden, Gloria came out with this statement: “The government will account for the perpetrators of this heinous attack in line with the rule of law, through the mechanisms of the peace process.”

    Ano raw?

  42. TurningPoint TurningPoint

We could also blame the presence of GMA TV crew but it would seem that the military commanders who allowed them are more excited on getting their faces splash on the evening news, sa 24 Oras, than remembering that they are in enemy territory and a surprise attack is possible. Mukhang nawala ang matinong pagiisip ng namumuno. For all we know, there all already advance footage on military officers who were interviewed before the ambush.

  43. parasabayan parasabayan

Military operations should be confidential. Media exposure should absolutely be avoided for the security of our soldiers.

  44. Mrivera Mrivera

    ellen,

So this is the result of long on going “Balikatan” through VFA. Modernizing the AFP, combat advance training. Thanks a lot Bush, thanks a lot Miss Kinney you have got your darling Daniel Smith back anyway. Long live Gloria. (Literally, more heads will roll).

  46. Sampot Sampot

Everytime we check-in at any airport terminal personal items like bottled water, perfumes, colognes are confiscated for fear that these could be made into a bomb.

They’re right. But the same knowledge should be put into practical use – manufacture our own ammunitions. Ammunitions that are customized to our own needs and purposes.

We can even design our own military weaponry.

Our problem is dumb leadership. Karamihan ng nasa posisyon mga BOBO!!!

  47. Yuko,

But so is the AFP (under civilian authority.)

  48. Magno,

Re media going on military operation.

It is perhaps a good omen at the time that there were media people with the search and rescue team, however, in a military operation of that kind in hostile, extremely hostile territory, (and whatever peace process there was ongoing we have to accept that there is war out there), it was wrong to have media people in tow at that time – there could have been a risk that those media people would have hampered the movement of the troops and had to be protected instead of the troops going all out doing their job they had to be on the lookout not only for themselves but also for the civilians; one can never tell that in the heat of battle, the troops had to take care of those media people instead of fighting back.

Anwyay, these thoughts of mine are conjenctures, not assertions. Recently the chief of the British Army denied mediamen going on sorties with a British Army patrol team in Basra, Iraq for the same reason. And there have been many cases in Iraq and Afghanistan when military authorities refused media to accompany troop patrol outside the city. And I perfectly understand!

As you very well know, the commander of the British task force under whom the Iraq 15 were kidnapped/nabbed by Iran Revolutionary Guards was put to task because at the time of the debacle in the Gulf, he was entertaining a plethora of media people aboard the mother ship (for PR purposes) and it was discovered that the presence of media on board had stymied his effort. And to think that they were not even with the patrolling unit of the Royal Navy. Not making excuses for the Royal Navy commander but I am for his sacking – he is due to face court martial.

Back to the Beheaded 10: media personnem must not be allowed on dangerous sorties with troops; they tend to be a hindrance to the troops (particularly our troops who don’t have the right equipment.)

  49. true_man true_man

  50. true_man true_man

sabi ni bansot noon!——“War Against Terrorism” tsk! tsk! tsk! mukhang na-isahan yata s’ya at na-insulto pa!!! NGAYUN NYA IPAKITA ANG BAGSIK NYA!!!

    ******

But I am getting the wrong impression, Anna, because the head of the military here does not and cannot act like Assperon who can even have the nerve to intimidate and threaten civilians, etc.

  52. Yuko,

The problem is Gloria and not the constitution – that she allows civilian authority which should remain supreme over military to be cornered by another rat, a surrender rat like Esperon, indeed tends confuse!

  53. I’ve always branded Esperon a coward and I’m proven right! He’s a coward of the most ignoble variety. I’d be happy to behead him.

As if trying (so hard!) to steal the lime light from Senator Trillanes, now Esperon wants to investigate the dud mortars, too.

  55. Why doesn’t Esperon accept that there was a failure by higher command authority in thre management of the military operation?

That would make him less of a coward!

  56. norpil norpil

investigations are good only if one is ready to learn the lessons from it. just reading the comment of sen biazon who is also from the military, it seems to me that the mistakes of the past are known but not corrected, partly blaming the soldiers for mishandling their weapons is another example that the lowest rank soldiers are not only the first to die but also the first to be blamed.

  57. This is the best blogging commentary I’ve read so far:

    manuelbuencamino :
Fear makes men do terrible things. And fear mongering is a terrible thing to do to man.

Dean said the attack could have been prevented if we had an anti-terror law because the military would have been able to bug cell phone messages etc.

Our side cannot gather intelligence without an anti-terror law?

A parallel army without the help of American and Australian technology could do it and was able to ambush our troops.

What is the anti-terror law, some kind of brain pill ?
Are those fucking idiot commanders playing golf in Camp Aguinaldo going to become tactical and strategic geniuses because of an anti-terror law?

Adopting the rationale for the anti-terror law serves to:
(1). legitimize Bush’s insane war; and (2). allow Gloria to stifle dissent. It won’t do anything more than that.

Let’s fight bandits the good old fashioned way. It worked against Kamlon, Nur Misuari, and against the MILF and Camp Abubakar.

Good intelligence on the ground, just like what those bandits used against the marine convoy, will go a lot further than the Deanie’s futile law.

As to solving the muslim insurgency…the problem is not in Manila. The problem is in Mindnao itself. It’s those warlord political dynasties in Mindanao who have stolen money meant for development and who have kept their constituents under their heel since time immemorial. Get rid of those warlords and you will democratize Mindanao and the MNLF/MILF/ASG won’t have a leg to stand on.

  58. Apologies to Manolo Quezon and to MB for crossposting MB’s comments (in Manolo’s blog) here. Thanks, Ellen!

Thanks, General. You confirmed what we have been saying here at Ellenville.

“The government will account for the perpetrators of this heinous attack in line with the rule of law, through the mechanisms of the peace process.”

    TP,

D’ poootha gloria only meant, “manigas kayo sa kahihintay ng justice for the fallen 14 marines!”

Military Standard weaponry will withstand the most severe weather. But if somebody get a cut of 20 % and another 20% and further down the line more percents, then the suppliers will cut down on qualities to make a reasonble profits.

I used to shoot military surplus ammo from the Philippines imported way back in the 80s and it can even withstand the Sub-Zero weather here, that was the Standard 5.56 nato rounds for M-l6s. And so all their handguns ammos manufactured to the international standard. So the excuses of the Military brass do not hold water…

  62. chi chi

“Dean said the attack could have been prevented if we had an anti-terror law because the military would have been able to bug cell phone messages etc.”

My apology to Dean but the anti-terror law to my belief will be used only by d’pootah gloria to silence/kill her critics, not the real terrorists!

Bug cell phone messages? The military is doing it now, but bugging only for political reasons!

This anti-terror law is only to court Dubya for more benefits and for him not to drop her ugliness! She’s clearly acting parallel with the pigheadedness (kuno) of her masterDubya on Iraq issue!

D’pootha is gaya-gaya na kay Sen Trillanes at Dubya!

  63. Chi, I never, ever doubted that “This anti-terror law is only to court Dubya!”

  64. Kaya nga, Gloria da poooootha!

    Hayyy, ano pa nga, Anna.

Umaalembong talaga ang d’poootha kay Dubya at the expense of our good soldiers and citizenry!

Hahah! But Dubya, as you very well know, has also reached the low ebb of his approval ratings (or not yet), kaya mukhang tuliro rin!

  66. Chi,

I was watching his press con on CNN yesterday, talagang tuliro na!

Gosh, his glaring Bushism (incoherence) is getting worse and worse!

Esperon wants to investigate the “dud mortars” too.
Kamlon’s name was mentioned here.. 1968 I went to Jolo prior to coming here..and we were presented to Princess Tarhata to meet her- kasi Vassar graduate siya at kamag anak ng hosts namin. There is a link in both..asawa ba siya, kapatid or what? At the time there was the issue of Sabah and talks about military training. Kamlon’s name was all over the Newspapers then…Mindanao is still the problem..but so is Christianity and the Muslims..and this is in the Bible too- Ismael, the son of Abraham and Hagaar
and Isaac the son of Abraham and Sara..
Re- the Video..ginagaya lang si Ted Koppel noong umpisa ng Iraq war- kasama sa convoy and until now journalists are allowed to be in the battle field. Kaninang umaga nagulantang ako sa pagtulog at dakita ko sa TV GMA to Hell and Back. Ang nasabi ko No..No..Stay there..Yon pala Good Morning America and the feature was to Hell and Back.

From the Info of the General…”there seems to be lack of intelligence” Ano pa. Esperon and other generals- to be in PMA one has to have intelligence. Deleted ang Honor Code..To Protect the People..
What a company!

  69. Anna, Chi:

One reason why I don’t want to go to the US now is because of Bush. Hayop ang walanghiyang iyan. Golly, just for fuel alone, 500 dollars and additional charge sa plane fare from here.

I saw the CNN news, too, with Dubya. Parang gago kung magsalita. Baka may alzheimer’s disease na! But for all you know, this is just one of the signs of the times when the world will be saddled with crooks as leaders. Pare-pareho lang.

  70. TurningPoint TurningPoint

  72. Diego K. Guerrero Diego K. Guerrero

There’s nothing happens substantial after anti-corruption mutiny at Oakwood. Corruption in the AFP is deeply embedded. The lost of lives in Tipo-Tipo debacle could be prevented. Low quality ammunitions and other military hardware can be partly blamed for the debacle. It’s not right to send troops in the battlefield with unreliable guns and ammunitions. Heads must roll (chopped) for the Tipo-Tipo fiasco.

Hindi makatarungang katuwiran. Criminal negligence ito. Nabasa ko World War II at 1950’s Korean War pa ginamit ang 81 mm mortar-launcher. Antique pala. turning point,

no need to deal with intelligence information where the military commanders base their conduct of operations. it is nil.

the present day generals are relying on nothing but EWAN info not on A1 info derived from highly reliable sources.

what we have now in the armed forces are commanders employing the pasikat system only to impress the dog faced president.

  83. gusa77 gusa77

Latest developements has recently occured from the honey baked tongue of retired general, another Armor plater of L.C.C.empire,from his qoute ” Normal lang ang di pagputok ng mortal shells. My god!what idiot in the world you are. you mean to say it is normal for your troops to a major casualties, due of malfunctioning of ammunitions and equipments.Maybe I gonna have a thousands thoughts joining your outfits, due to the commanders with brain the size of bird seeds.ZERO TOLERANCES,were required on level of commands when you put the life of your troops in missions or training. How this General acquired his stars, whoever put stars on ranks might be more stupid than him.It was waste of money paying those idiots running these dept.My dear Sec. on this time we are not in stone age or spanish regime.I think those criminals you let them loose got more better gadgets than with your troops. What a big jokes for international military communities..Uniformed service personels defend his life from his weapon and equipments.

  84. Mrivera Mrivera

  85. gusa77 gusa77

For me, it’s not normal of high percentage of failure of ammo, equipments and other war gadgets, thats why billions of US money been spents for reseaching, experimenting and testing on war materials,it been proven already that propellant charges and its casing would stand on extreme condition of weathers, climates and other enviromental factors,it been used in past conflicts WW2,KOREAN,and VIET-NAM,rating low percentage of malfunctioning not even 1% of failure. If percentage of failure were higher than 3%,it would be disaster for the entire components, just imagine if your command 1 company consist of 150 soldiers,it will be 4.5 casualties, thats not acceptables for any commands of armed forces.Failures factors were outdated shelf life of 20 yrs, hand me down trash from arsenal for VIET-NAM,acquiring sub-standard or doesn’t meet minimun requirement of spec. and FAKE goods w/c good only for shows in circus or projection of imagetry of force.

  86. Spy Spy

Tell that to the marines!

  87. Spy Spy

Commanders should take the responsibility of what happened to the brave marines. They should be relieved ASAP and be investigated. That’s the SOP.

Dont put all the blame to the MILF and the Abus coz they are the enemies. Blame the commanders for their incompetence!

  88. Spy Spy

What happened to the Marines is a total disregard and non-compliance of the Battle Operating System by the Commanders!

  89. Mrivera Mrivera

charge them with negligence and command responsibility!

  90. pedro pedro

Hindi ko makita yung video footage ng ambush on the web, anybody know kung nasaan? Did the Marines attempt to gain fire superiority, moved with Violence of Action and took the initiative? I understand indirect fire ammunition at the time were found to be duds, what about rifles and machine guns? defective din ba armas ng mga marines natin? or nakatago ba sa armsroom yung mga bago para pang gamit lang pag may ceremony or parada?

  91. pedro pedro

My comment above is NOT an insult directed to the fighting men in the Philippine Marines. Not having the proper equipment and training is always the result of Weak Leadership.

  92. Mrivera Mrivera

    pedro,

  94. pedro pedro

    Mrivera,

I agree that division level commanders up to commander in chief are ultimately responsible and should be held accountable. In my opinion if section, platoon, company and brigade officers new of this and did not even attempt to remedy deficiencies at their level after voicing their concerns higher, they should also be held accountable. If this was the case, then there’s a problem in the AFP Officer Corps. I also believe the same measure apply to the NCO Corps; the people responsible (I Hope) for weapons maintenance, training, and known for making things happen. I say there’s plenty of blame to go around from bottom to the top.

  95. chi chi

“…indirect fire ammunition at the time were found to be duds, what about rifles and machine guns? defective din ba armas ng mga marines natin? or nakatago ba sa armsroom yung mga bago para pang gamit lang pag may ceremony or parada?”

O pinatay?

Araw araw libre ang merienda ko..not because of that though but courtesy of isang tagahanga.

    For Koko,
Pañero, you and I are on the same Genuine Opposition team and naturally I am rooting for you but your approach to this situation has been, for the most part, wrong. First, you have been pursuing this as a purely legal battle. It is not. It is, more important, a battle for public opinion, for the hearts and minds of both your supporters and detractors. You have to make the complex legal issues involved in this case understandable and accessible to the general public. The vast majority of Filipinos are non-lawyers and are not interested in esoteric legal principles such as estoppel, statistical improbability, or the Lagumbay doctrine. Frankly, Juan de la Cruz does not care a whit about these concepts. What he wants to know is how election fraud affects him personally, how it destroys his mandate and his right to choose his leaders.
