Esperon, destabilizer

Update: Sen. Francis Pangilinan says Esperon’s denial of medical attention to Gen. Miranda is a violation of his right to life. Calls on Esperon to allow Gen. Miranda to undergo general check up. For full statement, scroll further down.

In his book, “Long Walk to Freedom,” South Africa’s former president, Nelson Mandela, said: “A man who takes away another man’s freedom is a prisoner of hatred, he is locked behind the bars of prejudice and narrow-mindedness.”

Mandela, one of the greatest human beings, was speaking about his jailors in their struggle against apartheid but the description could perfectly apply to AFP chief Hermogenes Esperon.

For how can one explain Esperon’s odious remark about the request of Maj. Gen. Renato Miranda for a general or executive checkup?

These are Esperon’s exact quotes: “If they are asking for an executive check, what I know is that an executive checkup is a privilege for those who are not resorting to violence. For example, if you are not doing something illegal, you can have an executive checkup. But if you are a destabilizer, you are detained, why then are you asking for an executive checkup? We (military leadership) are not the ones who are at fault why you are being detained.”

I’m tempted to say, stupid.

Does Esperon know that an executive check up is a corporate term for general medical check up? Where in the Constitution or any manual of rules and regulation does it say that only those who are not facing charges are qualified to undergo medical check-up?

Now, it’s good that Esperon talked about destabilizers so we can analyze here who is the real “destabilizer.”

A destabilizer is one who undermines faith of the people in a duly-elected government. Who helped thwart the will of the people in the 2004 elections? In the evening May 28, 2004 Gloria Arroyo asked then Comelec commissioner Virgilio Garcillano, who was acting as her cheating operator, about the problem with the military in Marawi. Garcillano replied that (Brig. Gen Francisco) Gudani was not theirs. “I have to work with Gen. Esperon and Gen. Kyamko.

There were other friends of Esperon whom Garcillano named like Gen. Gabriel Habacon. There were other officials not mentioned in the infamous “Hello Garci” tapes but are known in the military circles to have been part of Gloria Arroyo’s operation to cheat in the 2004 elections.

Clearly they undermined the people’s faith in the government because they violated the constitutional provision that “no member of the military shall engage directly or indirectly in any partisan political activity, except to vote.”

Who then is the destabilizer?

If a destabilizer is not entitled to an executive checkup, why is Gloria Arroyo getting the best of it? By grabbing power from a duly elected president, and by engaging in unbridled corruption to satisfy those who helped her cheat in the election and maintain her illegal presidency, she is the country’s number one destabilizer.

Esperon should better get his definition right.

  1. Paingles-ingles, hindi naman yata nakakaintindi ng ingles. Possible indeed, just like how some Japanese in fact mistake the meaning of some English words. That is why I advocate the use of Pilipino for official orders and even laws of the land. Most Filipinos now in fact do not speak nor write good English.

  2. I was going to say kung naiitindihan talaga ni Esperon ang salitang “destabilization.”

The Hello Garci Generals particularly Gen. Hermogenes Esperon are criminals. They conspired and stole the true mandate of the Filipino people. They are destabilizers and rascals. The reason why Marine Maj. General Miranda, et al are in jail because they openly voice-out their dismay, abuses and endless thieving of Arroyo regime. Bayag-less Esperon has decided to kiss-ass and protect his bogus president Gloria Arroyo. Shame on you! Estupido Assperon big time.

  6. Ellen, speaking of destabilizer, Gloria is no. 1. Just look at this: Inquirer reports that NBN deal is cancelled FULL STOP.

    Remarks and speculations:

    1) Naunahan na naman ni Gloria ang mga legislators – and during recess nga naman para walang mag shriek sa mga Senators; Gloria is a fast worker – typical sensor attitude, fast reaction to problems.

    2) Did you notice that Mike Bundat Arroyo came back when the Senate is already in recess? I’m sure his coming home was timed so that he didn’t have to face Senate demand for him to appear – meanwhile, he will take the 1 month Senate holiday to work individually on Senators or short of achieving a landslide turnaround, he will work on those who could easily throw monkey wrenches during the next session, i.e., Joker, Enrile, Angara (whose former law office, I understand is legal counsel to the ZTE corporation in Manila) and of course, on Miriam and perhaps, why not on Gordon and a couple of young uns like Pia Cayetano to work on her brother to soften up???

    3) Gloria went to China despite a long non-working holiday over there not only to magpakaawa but also to get those three Chinese stooges, Tan, Ty and Go (who are with her) to reimburse the millions of dollars she’s already received from the Chinese in Manila.

    4) Her bottom line: stop the inquiry into the NBN…

    Small but terrible, di ba?

    Anna,

The most important person in any prisoner’s life is not the minister of justice, not the commissioner of prisons, not even the head of prison, but the warder in one’s section. If you are cold and want an extra blanket, you might petition the minister of justice, but you will get no response. If you go to the commissioner of prisons, he will say, “Sorry, it is against regulations.” The head of prison will say, “If I give you an extra blanket, I must give one to everyone.” But if you approach the warder in your corridor, and you are on good terms with him, he will simply go to the stockroom and fetch a blanket.–Nelson Mandela,Robben Island

i can’t believe that an afp chief of staff(or is it thief of staff?) siad those words. even a so called destabilizer has the right to access medical care. is this the right principle for a military oficial who is suposed to protect the people? it only shows how arrogant and selfish this administration is.

  12. pnoynrs pnoynrs

you are absolutely right ellen and you hit the bulls eye when you wrote ” if a destabilizer is not entitled to executive check-up then why is gloria getting the best of it?”. i belong to the health profession and there is no such thing as one is not entitled to medical care due to their political affiliation. so what’s next esperon? an milf member in captivity who is sick and not entitled to medical care coz they rebelling against the administration? no such thing either.

  13. pnoynrs pnoynrs

denial f one’s acces to medical care is a blatant violation of human rights.

We shouldn’t really wonder if Asspweron behaves this way. For one, his Big Boss is the real destabilizer; he is Her Perperator!
Asspweron forgot that when he pointed his finger to Gen. Miranda as a Destabilizer, three fingers pointed back at him!

Tama ka talaga, Ellen! Birahe pa!!!

    pnoynrs,

This ‘barbed-wired brai’n Esperon is a TRAITOR in the highest form!!!

  16. MrG MrG

    Ystakei,

Esperon knows the meaning of ‘destabilizer’ since that word has come to be interpreted as anyone against the government of ‘his president’. Perhaps, it is the phrase ‘general exam’which he misinterprets.

Some know-nothing guys don’t understand what crap comes out of their mouths. The real destabilizer and those who enjoy it are in Malacanang, AFP, Comelec, and other bribe-salivating offices.

  18. Hello guys, Ellen, off topic but relevant re Razon.

I just discovered a blog by a guy who says he’s related to Abalos (via Dean’s blog) and here’s what I found:

“But blithely disregarding very basic things promised in our Constitution isn’t the worst problem with Razon. What should worry us more is the company that Razon keeps: suspected drug lords. Remember Kim Wong? Avelino Razon hopes you don’t. (Kim Wong and Razon are PMA “classmates” by the way. How did that happen? Read this.)”

Following Headine in The Dail Tribune today.
“Senate poised to probe Esperon over ‘abuses'”.

Looks like it’s Haemorrhoid Assperon turn soon.

  21. Finally I am able to access this site. That’s after a week and a half. Regardless whether one is a destabilizer or not, everyone, even convicts are entitled to medical attention. Even the Geneva convention guarantees that right to combatants. Esperon should learn by heart what human rights is all about. Stupido talaga ang REMF na ito.

Who is destabilizing us? The top honchos must be already unstable now. All the military are here in Manila already. And imagine they send just a few marines and mind you, even the Special Operations Group of the Navy, where Senator Trillanes was a member to the frontlines. The group is not supposed to be deployed with anybody else on a shooting war because they are supposed to be behind the enemy lines unseen and swim underwater out of harm’s way. That is why we never have fallen SEALs yet, well, not until now.

How can a detained person be a stabilizer? Proven giulty nb?

I know gen. Miranda, he will not beg to his knees to assperon just for this check-up, he has gone this far, there is no turning back.

Gen. Miranda got his stars in his shoulders dahil sa sariling pagsisikap at tapat na serbisyo sa kanyang tungkulin.

  25. Statement of Sen. Francis Pangilinan:

Allow Gen. Miranda to seek doctor’s help for humanitarian reasons!

Senate Majority Leader Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan today severely criticized AFP Chief of Staff Hermogenes Esperon for denying former Marines Commandant Gen. Renato Miranda from seeking medical help.

“Hindi makatarungan, at lalung-lalong hindi makatao ang pagdadamot ng AFP kay Gen. Miranda na maghanap ng lunas sa kanyang mga karamdaman.”

“The AFP must, if only for humanitarian reasons, allow Gen. Miranda to go to the hospital to seek medical treatment,” pleaded the Senator.

Esperon, according to reports, said Miranda is not entitled to an executive checkup because he is a “destabilizer.”

Miranda is detained for allegedly leading a failed power grab last year. His comrade and fellow coup leader, former Army Scout Rangers commander Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim said during court martial proceedings last week that Miranda has been suffering from life-threatening illnesses such as hypertension, high blood sugar count, and vertigo.

Lim also revealed that Miranda, who is his roommate at the detention center in Camp Capinpin, has also been suffering from an ear infection, and even collapsed once while inside the bathroom.

“Miranda’s case has not yet been decided by the military court. The AFP has yet to prove his guilt in last year’s failed power grab. He is, therefore, still innocent until proven otherwise. And even if Miranda is guilty indeed, I believe it is beyond the power of Esperon or any other public official to deny a person from seeking medical attention.”

“In case Gen. Miranda’s condition further deteriorates, in case he slips into coma due to his low blood sugar, or God forbid, in case the general dies in Camp Capinpin which has no adequate medical facilities, will Gen. Esperon take responsibility for the result of his actions?” Sen. Kiko lamented

  26. cocoy cocoy

    Chi;
I can understand Gen.miranda’s refusal to renounce the flexible interrogation techniques of his comrade Esperon . The fact is, denied medical treatment is nothing less than a dream laboratory for psy-ops theory , psychological torture, and it’s the one that proved to be a very resilient, quite adaptable, and an enormously destructive paradigm. Psychological torture, far more destructive, does far more lasting damage to the human psyche than does physical torture It is far crueler than physical torture. This is something we don’t realize in military interrogation. Gen. Miranda is a man of his own courage and conviction. The spirit of a good soldiers can not be easily broken, they learned this in military school. Esperon was absent the day they cover this important lesson, his ass was glued in the toilet seat suffering diarrhea.

  27. Equalizer, please don’t capitalize comments. It’s distracting. Just for administrative matters.

    Thanks.

  28. equalizer equalizer

    ellen,

thank you very much for really taking time on Gen. Miranda’s issue. I hope this won’t die down. It’s not only for Gen. Miranda that we are fighting for, but for every citizen of this country who is deprived of his right’s.

    and to Sen. Pangilinan,
maraming maraming salamat po sa pagbibigay ng attention, sa ginawa nyo palang na pagbigay ng statement, i’m sure Gen. miranda’s condition will already improve, again thank you very much.

    ellen,
sorry for that, i apologize, i just can’t help it.

  30. MrG:

Nabagok ang ulo sabi mo? All the more reason this Esperon should be removed and have his head examined. Apparently, all that he is capable of doing is try to see that the unano’s collar is okay, no lipstick smear on her lips, etc. Otherwise bokya, magaling lang mandaya ng boto!

  31. Equalizer, I have the letter of Esperon to Miranda. It’s somewhere in my files. But if you can send it to me, that would save me time looking for it.

    Thanks.

  32. klingon klingon

Its true what the lawyers of the Marines and Scout Rangers have been saying. Esperon is convening authority, judge jury, and now executioner.

  33. Mrivera Mrivera

    myrna,

  34. norpil norpil

i think it is naive of a senator to ask if asoperon will take responsibility for his actions against gen miranda. he should understand by now that this guy is responsible only to his master, true to the qualities of a very good dog, loyal only to the hand that feed. others must force him to take the responsibility and pay for the damage he may have done already. 2010 can be the real destabilizer for this gang and i hope they cannot stabilize it in their favor.

  35. Mrivera Mrivera

    norpil,

  36. Again, in a society where mercies are not always forthcoming, thank heavens for lil mercies, i.e., Pangilinan lending his voice to the call of Gen Miranda’s co-detainees!

  37. chi chi

  38. One thing obviously different between voters in the Philippines and voters in Japan is that we never actually feel that we have to be grateful to politicians, who get voted, when they feel like doing their jobs as when Kiko Pangilinan tries or pretends to answer a call of distress. We give credit where credit is due but when they louse in their jobs we do kind of kick them in their butts real hard.

I, for one, give more credits to our ever careful and conscientious media people who courageously expose anomalies in the government to keep those in the government service in check. I find it amazing that they can get evidences that fast, even evidences for example of taxi fares for personal trips charged to the government that is a big no-no over here. I don’t know if you have heard of those foreign service people who were terminated for using public funds for their personal caprices, etc. during an international conference. It even caused then Minister of Foreign Affairs to quit amidst the scandal.

That’s why when I hear of attempts by the Fatso to sell projects that can be used for begging for grants during his wife’s expensive trips overseas, my blood boils and wonder why nothing is done to stop it, or why can’t anybody there be patriotic enough to report on this guy to stop him from committing any further abuses? The truth is I cannot help feeling sorry for the Filipinos! Pinagtatawanan ng ungas, hindi humihirit! Puro just-tiis, migosh!

Enough is enough. It should be stopped now!
