GMA news report on trip to Bicutan

By Ellen Tordesillas

Thursday morning, the Makati City hall premises were swarming with military personnel. Aside from the usual security escorts of the Magdalo officers, there were those from Camp Capinpin in Tanay who brought down Brig. Gen. Danny Lim, who was to testify on the agreement forged between Malacañang’s representatives and the Oakwood mutineers in July 2003.

Arriving late at the Magdalo hearing last Thursday, the sala of Judge Oscar Pimentel of branch 147, Makati Regional Trial Court, was standing room only. I recognized prominent guests such as former Vice President Teofisto Guingona, Bishop Antonio Tobias, former UP president Francisco “Dodong” Nemenzo. A number of the officers were standing on the aisle. I remember Lt. Ashley Acedillo and Lt (s.g.) Eugene Gonzales.

Marine Capt. Nick Faeldon who had to attend a court martial hearing earlier in the morning came later and also stood near the door.

Except for Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, who was in black shirt, all the accused were in combat uniform, like their guards. It was difficult to distinguish the guards from the guarded.

There was a five-minute break when Lim and Trillanes were escorted to the men’s room. When the hearing resumed it was the prosecution’s turn to cross-examine Lim. Suddenly, Lt (s.g.) James Layug, who wore a black scarf, stood up, went to Lim and declared, “Walang gagalaw (Nobody move).” He held Lim by the arm and led him quickly out of the courtroom. Everybody was stunned. Lim’s counsel Vicente Verdadero stood up and asked, “What’s happening? Where are they bringing my client?”

Pimentel said, “Who’s that officer? Bring him back here with the witness.”

Everything moved fast. Magdalo officers loaded Lim and Trillanes to the elevator while pushing media out of the lift.

The rest of the officers, with their guards, and media commandeered another lift.

Once all had met up at the ground floor, Lim and Trillanes, followed by their guards, marched on J.P. Rizal to Makati avenue. Unaware of what was happening, people along J.P. Rizal were waving at Trillanes who asked them to join him and Lim against Gloria Arroyo for “a new life.”

In that more than 30-minute march to Manila Peninsula, I didn’t notice a single policeman.

A single shot that shattered the glass door of the Makati Avenue entrance convinced the Manila Pen guards that it was useless resisting the marchers who had a more serious agenda that day.

It took some hours before someone from the government in the person of Metro Manila police chief Geary Barias came, but he only got to the lobby. He was told he was not welcome. Lim and Trillanes had no intention to negotiate. He tried again and again to go up. On the third time, he was jeered by Trillanes’ supporters.

This must have really pricked Barias’ ego because there were those who saw him jab the senator in the chest using his elbow when Trillanes and Lim were arrested. Reports from insiders in the CIDG, where the rebel officers are detained, said that Trillanes received more blows from PNP officers.

Senior Supt. Jaime Calungsod, whose PMA class had adopted Lim, a West Pointer, was allowed into the Rizal Room on the second floor, which the officers used as command post, but stayed only for a few minutes. Calungsod said nothing to the media.

Trillanes came down later and looked for the hotel manager to correct media reports that hotel guests were being held hostage.

At about 2 p.m. someone delivered the arrest warrant issued by Judge Pimentel against a number of officers for contempt of court. Lt. Armand Pontejos who was manning the locked glass door refused to receive the warrant which the messenger was trying insert through the door. I asked the messenger to hold the document against the glass door while media copied the contents.

After the 3 p.m. deadline set by the government for them to surrender, tension was building up. Apparently, the expected massive civilian and military support didn’t come. TV reported that the PNP’s Special Action Force and Army troops were preparing for an assault. Rebel officers would constantly look out the glass window to scour for possible snipers.

Reporters were getting text messages from editors and friends of the government order to vacate the hotel because they were going to force their way in to arrest the rebels. Initially, we were about a hundred journalists covering the standoff from inside the hotel, limited to the corridor leading to the Rizal Room.

When the warning came, one by one some reporters left. Only a little over 20 of us stayed put. We talked among ourselves and agreed to link arms just in case we would be forcibly removed. We also gathered and moistened table napkins to counter the effects of tear gas. Some kind souls in the hotel gave us face towels. But those were not enough, so we borrowed pocket knives and started cutting the table cloths. We promised among ourselves that we would pay Manila Pen if they billed us for the table cloth which we used as gas masks.

Shortly before 5 p.m., we heard gunshots. The rebels remained calm. They let us into Rizal Room. We could feel the building shake as the armored personnel carrier repeatedly slammed the hotel door. Tear gas wafted through the room.

By then Lim and Trillanes announced to us that to save lives, they were leaving the hotel. “Like soldiers, we are going face this,” Trillanes said. Lim couldn’t hide his disappointment over the support that never came. “Dissent without action is consent,” he said.

We got information that snipers would fire at Lim and Trillanes once they came out of the hotel. “Let it be,” the two said.

Fr. Robert Reyes said a prayer.

We arranged ourselves in the room. TV camera crew and photographers positioned themselves near the door. Right behind them were Lim and Trillanes and other members of media. Bishop Julio Labayen and others were in the last row.

When the fully armed, fully masked SAF pushed the door open aiming their high-powered firearms at us, they were greeted by TV cameras as we shouted “Media kami.” They went to another room but finding it empty came back. They wanted to bring us out but we complained about stinging tear gas. One SAF member said, “Okay na, okay na.” One of us said, “Why don’t you remove your mask. Let’s see if you can say, ‘ok’. ANC’s Ces Drilon went on air to appeal to the authorities to stop the tear gassing so we could all go down.

After a while, the SAF came back. They first grabbed Trillanes and Lim. Then they herded the rest of us out. They ordered us to raise our hands. Most people ignored the order reasoning out, “We are not surrenderers.”

As we went down the stairs, we were told to stay put because we would be brought to Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan for “processing.” We all raised a howl and they explained that it’s standard procedure in a crime investigation. Then we were asked who are members of the military in civilian clothes. About two or three stood and they were hauled away. Then they asked, “Who are members of ABB?” referring to the Alex Boncayao communist hit squad. Nobody stood up.

Then members of media were told move to the right side. They started handcuffing non-journalists. SAF’s Gen. Santiago was apologetic as he was supervising the hand-tying of Nemenzo. “I’m sorry, sir. I know that you have lectured me against suppression of human rights but I just have to do this.” Nemenzo kept silent.

Then it was the media’s turn to be handcuffed.. We all protested. “We didn’t commit any crime!”, “Why, has Gloria Arroyo declared martial law?” CIDG NCR chief Asher Dolina relented but not after he had handcuffed two TV crew members of ABS-CBN.

It was past 7 p.m. when we boarded the bus for Camp Bagong Diwa. We were given packed dinner. We had to help those who were handcuffed for them to drink their water. I didn’t eat even if I had only crackers (courtesy of Magdalo officers) for lunch. The whole day of tension had sapped my appetite.

It was almost 9 p.m. when we got to the covered court in Bicutan, which was the “processing” center. Lim and Trillanes were already there. We were told to get off the bus 10 at a time. Some were fingerprinted and told to undergo a drug test.

I refused to give more than what’s in my press ID card.

It was 10:30 p.m. when we boarded the bus out of Camp Bagong Diwa.

What a day.

BY ASHZEL HACHERO

IT was just a regular day in my nearly four years of covering the Makati beat. But I have never imagined that I would be the story, or even become “one of the suspects” in the story.

I arrived about 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the press office on the third floor of Makati City Hall and saw soldiers already positioned in and around City Hall, where the regional trial courts including the sala of Judge Oscar Pimentel are located.

At 8:20 a.m. I proceeded to the 14th floor where Pimentel’s sala is located and engaged one of the prosecutors, Amanda Felipe, in light banter while waiting for the court to open.

It was then that a local TV crew got into an argument with soldiers who asked them to remove their cameras in the hallway where they had been positioned for the arriving Magdalo group.

Vicente Verdadero, counsel of former Scout Ranger commander Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim, entered the fray and asked the soldiers in a loud voice: “Bakit, may order ba kayo kay Judge? This is a civilian court. We are not in a court martial.”

In another premonition that it was not going to be an ordinary hearing we, the media, Magdalo, defense lawyers and prosecutors, could not enter the courtroom as courtroom staff who had the key to the room came late.

The testimony of Lim proceeded smoothly until after a bathroom break. Then the commotion started. I was at the left side of the room talking with the wife of detained Marine Col. Ariel Querubin when suddenly I heard the word “Walang gagalaw.”

When I turned around, I saw Lt. (s.g.) James Layug accompanying Lim towards the door followed by Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV and the rest of the Magdalo soldiers.

My reporter’s instinct told me something was going to happen so I followed the group to the elevator where Trillanes shouted, “Ito na ang huling pagkakataon para sa pagbabago.”

As I tried along with other reporters to get inside the elevator, we were pushed by Magdalo member Lt. (s.g.) Arturo Pascua.

Layug and Cesario Gonzalez, another Magdalo officer, shouted to the escorts mostly from the Navy and the Air Force: “Walang gagalaw. Di tayo magkakaaway, dapat nga sumama na kayo sa amin.”

I raced downstairs from the 14th floor. When I reached the ground floor, Trillanes’ group was already outside, accompanied by several men carrying M-16s and M-14s, but to my best recollection it was the first time that I saw those guys.

The escorts were just milling around, nobody trying to make a move to stop the group as it proceeded along J.P. Rizal up to Makati avenue walking amid the traffic and the pouring rain while bystanders, motorists and even occupants of high-rise buildings poured out and said, “Si Trillanes suportado namin yan.”

From Makati avenue we proceeded toward Ayala avenue and my mind was asking, “are we going to the Oakwood Hotel (now Ascott) which the group seized in 2003?

But at Ayala and Makati avenues, we stopped at the Manila Peninsula Hotel entrance and proceeded to the stairs where one of the hotel’s security officers tried to stop us but eventually gave in.

It was at this juncture that the hotel’s glass door was broken, apparently hit unintentionally by a camera tripod and we went directly to the hotel’s 2nd floor gallery where the group held a press conference with Lim reading a statement calling on the President to resign.

Around 2:05 p.m., I saw Metro Manila police chief, Director Geary Barias, waiting at the lobby to meet with the rebel officers, telling the guests to immediately leave the hotel and issuing a 3 p.m. deadline for the Magdalo soldiers or face arrest.

But instead of negotiations, Barias was escorted out by members of Magdalo who were carrying high-powered riffles. They were believed to have already been discharged from service.

As Barias exited the hotel, civilian supporters of the Magdalo cheered and shouted, which I think made Barias suspect that it was members of the media who were yelling that got his goat.

Inside the hotel, we tried our best to contact our editors but we had a hard time since most of us left our equipment outside.

We were just left with Internet and TV access that was limited to five laptops and two small television monitors used by the television stations.

Most of the telephones are on the ground floor, which made it too risky to use. So we were forced to wait in turn for a single telephone on the second floor of the hotel.

At around 4:30 p.m., we saw police commandos and soldiers take positions outside the hotel premises in preparation for the assault to arrest the group of Lim and Trillanes.

Upon hearing the first few warning shots outside the hotel, Marine Capt. Gary Alejano told us: “‘Wag kayong matakot. Nananakot lang ‘yan.”

It was Alejano who repeatedly told us not to leave because something “big” would happen later in the day.

Deciding it would not be safe sitting around while an armored personnel carrier and heavily armed members of the PNP-Special Action Force were about to launch the assault, I retreated to the back portion of the second floor where I saw fellow media men frantically tearing apart a table cloth as masks against the tear gas.

The members of the Magdalo asked us to gather inside the Rizal boardroom to avoid the toxic scent of the tear gas. As the tear gas engulfed the lobby and the mezzanine of the hotel, I tried desperately to cut a small piece of the hotel curtain to use as mask while crouching low beside armed Magdalo soldiers, rifles pointed at the main entrance. Several moments later, Trillanes and other members of the Magdalo joined us inside the boardroom saying that they will have to surrender to avoid bloodshed.

As Trillanes, Lim, and the members of the media were vacating the boardroom, some members of the SAF team made fun of us shouting, “Itaas ang kamay! Itaas ninyo kamay ninyo!” knowing that fumes of the teargas was overwhelming.

I and around 50 other media men were shocked when we learned from television that we were to be brought to the National Capital Regional Police Office headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa, in Bicutan.

We were ordered to sit on the steps of the stairs as the authorities figured out what to do with us.

There were frenzied reactions from our group when we learned that we would be handcuffed. CIDG head Asher Dolina tried but failed to convince us that it’s just a “procedure” in a crime investigation.

Only a collective refusal from the mediamen made him agree not to have us handcuffed.

Marching in single file, we stuck together to avoid any harassment from the police before we were led outside to a waiting passenger bus, with more policemen guarding us.

Outside, I saw several reporters already in the bus, hands restrained by plastic cuffs.

I and about six other broadsheet reporters were returned inside the hotel because the first bus was already full. Half an hour later, we were made to embark on an air-conditioned bus borrowed from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority. It was about 8 p.m.

Escorted by a police car with SWAT cops, we were driven to the NCRPO headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa, to be “greeted” by many more uniformed policemen, a SOCO team and medical personnel, and more CIDG investigators and a smiling Geary Barias, director of the NCRPO.

In groups of threes, we were first ordered to sit down in a table with three police investigators, each one asking for an ID card and some personal information such as civil status, home addresses.

But when one of the investigators asked for my present address and provincial address, I refused saying I couldn’t give it without the presence of a lawyer.

We jokingly begged for food, as we had not eaten since 9 a.m. None was offered to us.

The final process involved us signing an entry into a police blotter, with the investigator still assuring us that it’s just for “record purposes.”

And after what it seemed like an eternity, we were cleared and released. The MMDA bus used to ferry us to the camp transported us back to Ayala avenue, with our stomachs still grumbling.

  1. Ellen,

Reports from insiders in the CIDG, where the rebel officers are detained, said that Trillanes received more blows from PNP officers.”

They have no right whatsoever to do this to Trillanes particularly if Trillanes was handcuff!

    Pigs, nothing but pigs!

  2. Stupid idiots the police stormtroopers were! Overkill! They can’t seem to do anything right…What a bunch of shitheads.

  3. Ellen,

Do I understand that those who apprehended Gen Lim and Sen Trillanes were from the police?

  4. Yes. It was a PNP-led operation. Mostly Special Action Force. In an interview at ANC, this evening, I took note that those who dealt with media “for processing” were SAF members.

SAF is an anti-terrorist task force. They are trained to deal with terrorists. They are not taught civil relations.

That shows Gloria Arroyo’s attitude towards media.

I was told by my editors that it was Ronnie Puno, local governments secretary and who has jurisdiction over the Philppine National Police who was conducting the operation.

  5. Anna, you are familiar with military attitudes. How would military officers feel in an operation led by police officers?

Sayang Talaga.

Mabuti at okey ka lang Ellen,

    Sayang talaga..

Salamat sa inyong dalawa nalaman namin ang tunay na pangyayari..But do they (Goria & Company) have to be this cruel?..they must really be desperate and in a panic..do they classify the media “terroists”..”they are not taught civil relations”.. talagang mga demonyo ..ang mga kampon ni Arroyo..hindi pa ba punong puno ang mga tao sa mga kagawaan nitong si Ronnie Puno?…

  9. rose rose

Ellen: mag andam gid kamo…the country cannot afford to lose journalists like you two…

  10. Ellen,

If so, Gloria has caused a wider division than she can imagine — the military, those who are disgruntled will wait for the day of reckoning.

  11. “Only a collective refusal from the mediamen made him agree not to have us handcuffed.”

Hah! The police blinked! Heh, as ever, the pen is mightier than the sword.

    Well done, press people!

  12. Capt Faeldon did the right thing by ‘disappearing’ to fight the good fight another day. Well done, Captain!

Stay away from the Police — if at some point, he has to surrender, he must surrender to the military. But I’d rather he didn’t at all.

Capt Faeldon must think of leaving the country for the moment! He can do more by being free outside the country. If he has a passport, would be easy…

I’m glad you all came back okay, Ellen. That’s definitely courageous of you for being in the line of fire at the hotel. I wish more and more filipinos have your guts because sadly,we Filipinos turned into sissies.
I’m definitely upset how slow filipinos react. For those PNP officers who took shots at Trillanes while arrested, they just made it worse. Their face will be remembered. This will never be over until their bogus president steps down or gets kicked out of power.

  15. Re: “SAF’s Gen. Santiago was apologetic as he was supervising the hand-tying of Nemenzo. “I’m sorry, sir. I know that you have lectured me against suppression of human rights but I just have to do this.”

Completely gobsmacking this idiot is. Why does he “just have to do this?” If he had half a brain, first, he shouldn’t have said those words if he half meant them and second, why handcuff if he knew a thing about human rights? Did Mr Nemenzo threaten to shoot Gen Santiago?

    Complete idiot!

  16. The Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines has complained to Malacañang of last Thursday’s detention of of media. In a letter to Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye, Focap President Burd Wang, said :

We are deeply concerned about the detention of journalists including members of the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines (FOCAP) covering the Manila Peninsula incident.

This is the first time since February 1986 when journalists on coverage were treated arbitrarily by authorities.

Our concern stems from the fact that a free and professional press is one of the pillars of democracy, particularly of this democratic republic which both you and President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo uphold and support.

We hope that, through your office, there will be no repetition of this deplorable action.

  17. The National Press Club:

The National Press Club is asking the Presidential Commission on Human Rights to investigate possible violations of human rights by members of the Philippine National Police in arresting journalists who covered last Thursday’s Makati hotel siege.

NPC president Roy Mabasa said the NPC will file an official complaint on Monday on behalf of the reporters, columnists, and cameramen who were “handcuffed, tied, loaded into a bus, and taken to the headquarters of the National Capital Region Police Office in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig.

The video footages of journalists with tied hands shown on national television as they are hauled into a bus is “a shocking image that only sends fears down the spine of journalists, but is also very clearly a violation of basic human rights,” the NPC said.

“The police simply went overboard. There was no reason for the arrests to begin with. And there was absolutely no reason to handcuff or tie the hands of journalists with plastic. They were treated like they themselves were suspects in a crime,” the 55-year-old organization of the country’s journalists said.

“Since when did answering a call of duty to report to the nation an event of national significance become a crime?” the NPC asked.

Mabasa said the is very clear abuse of authority as the arrests violated not only the Constitutional guarantee of freedom of speech and of the press, but also the right against unreasonable arrest, search, and seizure.

The NPC added that the police have no right to confiscate cameras and videotapes on which were recorded the events that took place during the day. “Those are protected by the Constitution and cannot be seized by the police without an appropriate warrant issued by a competent court,” it said.

In condemning the arrests, the NPC said there was no clear reason for the journalists’ detention, brief as it may have been. At the start, the police said the journalists were being held only for proper identification.

Asked the NPC: “Does proper identification include tying their hands and loading them into a bus, and taking them to police headquarters?”

Later, Interior and Local Government secretary Ronaldo Puno was saying that were being held for obstruction of justice.

The NPC said the real reason could only be to send a strong message to members of the media to restrain themselves from reporting on issues that may be deemed critical of the administration.

“If that were so, we condemn the act in the strongest terms possible. It has no place in a free and democratic country,” it stressed.

The NPC also said that while it does not condone the act of Senator Trillanes IV and his group, it is also compelled to deplore the excessive use of force—especially that applied to members of the media—in the resolution of the conflict.

  18. SEAPA outraged by arrest, detention of 50 journalists in Philippines

(Bangkok: 30 November 2007) The Southeast Asian Press Alliance — a
coalition of journalist and press freedom advocacy groups from the
Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia — condemn in the strongest
possible terms the Philippine government’s arrest and detention of
up to 50 media workers following a failed uprising by disgruntled
senator and former military officer Antonio Trillanes IV.

Police and military officials have tried to rationalise the illegal
detention of the journalists, saying this was all part of the
natural course of police work. Ostensibly, the media people were
detained pending verification of their identities and affiliations,
and to prevent what are now being portrayed as military mutineers
from using fake media credentials to slip through the military
    gauntlet.

But reports that video footages were confiscated, and that many of
those detained for questioning were in fact hauled off in
handcuffs, paint a more troubling picture. The fact is that the
government of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has consistently
shown contempt for media coverage of the frequent crises and cracks
befalling the Philippine military. In past coup attempts, the
Arroyo administration has threatened journalists covering
putschists with charges of sedition. In Thursday’s developments,
media that were covering the press conference of Sen. Trillanes at
the hotel he had taken over were in fact investigated for
“obstruction of justice”, government and military officials told
    the Philippine press.

Such actions are preposterous. The suggestion — in words and in
action — that the media can be charged for covering people opposed
to the government impinges upon press freedom and the Filipino
people’s right to know. The Philippine government is sending the
message, not for the first time, that coverage of its political
opponents is tantamount to sedition and obstruction of justice.
Such a chilling message is simply inconsistent with the freedoms
enshrined in the Philippine constitution, and contemptuous of the
rights of the free press in the Philippines.

SEAPA — composed of the Manila-based Center for Media Freedom and
Responsibility, the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism,
the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) in Indonesia, the
Jakarta-based Institute for the Study of the Free Flow of
Information (ISAI), and the Thai Journalists Association (TJA) —
demand the return of all journalists’ equipment and footage, and an
apology to Filipino journalists for this affront to press freedom
    in the Philippines.

  19. Why is Gloria Arroyo paranoid about Lim,Trillanes and the other detained officers?

Esperon provides the answer in “Military braces for power grab try”:

Esperon belied text messages that said he has been sacked as AFP chief because of the Thursday incident, as he said the military has pre-empted a “sizeable group” of active officers and men who were supposed to move to Metro Manila to support Trillanes’ group.

“(We) just stopped them from moving,” he said.

On how large the group was, he said: “It could have been a major source of embarrassment and major threat if they were able to do it.” On whether it could be the size of a battalion, he said: “Not really, not battalion but sizable, sizable….Less than a hundred.”

  20. Ellen,

So Esperon asked the police to do some military duty in hi stead while he was trying to push his weight around in the military camps.

    Typical Esperon — ball-less, clue-less, brain-less!

Arroyo says rule of law prevailed…. what rule of law? maniniwala lang ako na may rule of law talaga kung si Gloria mismo sampu ng kanyang mga alagad ay mapaparusahan sa mga kasalanan nila…. si GMA, Barias, Razon, ASSperon, Puno, Norberto and Raul Gonzales, Ermita…. lahat sila hypocrites!!!!!!

“It was Alejano who repeatedly told us not to leave because something “big” would happen later in the day”.

it no maximum tolerance. Sa tingin ko Trillanes group should relay more on their comrades just like in Thailand coup walang people power but pure military and they succeed.

Esperon latest interview he said na pagnaulit pa ito may mabilis daw ang gagawin nila at mas malupit pa.

    Ellen,

That Assperon, Razon, and Barias did a good job. It only showed that they were highly trained animals.

  24. Mr. Esperon,

You are the lousiest General I’ve ever known.

Leaking information that if Trillanes would have succeeded. will install a Caretaker Government that AT4 and Lim would led, to remove all corrupt officials, civilian and military, afterwhich, a civilian Transitional Government would be set-up, that would also be tasked to restore democracy.

Add that up to… “the military has pre-empted a “sizeable group” of active officers and men who were supposed to move to Metro Manila to support Trillanes’ group. It could have been a major source of embarrassment and major threat if they were able to do it.

This Assperon was not only confirming that he lost control over his chain of command, he’s also advertising that Sen. Trillanes do have a plan to better the lives of the people by removing them [corrupt officials] all!

    What an Asshole!

THIS IS NOTHING BUT A SLAP ON THE FACES OF GLORIA’S SECURITY OFFICIALS.
If we look deeper, you’d see the ineptitude not of Lim and Trillanes, but of the security officials of this government. Imagine, powerless prisoners such as Lim and Trillanes, could still create this much havoc, publicity and trouble for the government. What happened merely gives other potential sympathizers a detailed idea of how to win the fight vs gloria.
Kung tutuusin, Lim and Trillanes had nothing. they were jailed for crying out loud. they had to make do with very limited resources. and yet, they succeeded in getting the public’s attention, and getting the government tactics. because of the incident, we know the following things:
    a. gloria wants to play hard ball
    b. such eventualities will be dealt with by the SAF (remember, the SAF was originally tagged as one of the units conspiring to oust her during the 2006 incident)
    c. gloria cares not about the lives of civilians and will use brute force
    d. gloria will respond quickly, and has no time for negotiations
    what did the incident achieve:
    a. gloria embarassed in the international media for her over reaction and evil doing
    b. public attention, and sympathy from many sectors seeing sonny trillanes dragged like a common criminal by the BARIAS the BARBARIAN
    c. the movement was able to cleanse itself of its fake comrades, and those who are really willing to stick it out with them such as those civilians charged
    d. it once again restored discussions within the ranks of the military about issues and events
    e. it will challenge other members of the military that if Lim and Trillanes, prisoners, are able to threaten to oust Gloria. What more those who are still in their positions with artillery and supplies

Lim and Trillanes probably saw that despite not winning YET, their move was able to stir even more issues against the government.

Shame on manny villar, and those cowardly politicians condmening the mechanisms used by Lim and Trillanes. Don’t they get it into their sick heads? the institutions no longer work! what good it there in following it?

The politicians should be blamed. If they allow the pipelines of institutional governance to flow unblocked by their corrupt practices, then these things wouldnt be necessary. but given the fact that they have always been easily corruptible by the satanic members of govt, then good on them. one day, if an event like nov 29 succeeds, then they will find themselves jobless perpetually!

I admire Lim, Trillanes, the media who covered, the bishops, and company. You’ve exhibited the marks of the finest Filipinos. Let your critics mock you. Let them utter every kind of slander against you. They did that to Christ 2000 years ago. The very people who welcomed him in Jerusalem sought for his DEATH a week later. But in the end, it wasnt the battery of mockers that mattered. It was the suffering and passion of Christ that saved the world.

To all of those who joined the november 29 seige, i admire you and i thank you. you have been true Filipinos of the highest order. Mabuhay!

    ellen,

i really dont get much attention for what i write, in this blog or elsewhere. but behind that frustration is a great desire to do justice to the actions of the many people who do great things in my behalf, successful or not. i left my practice in the phil partly on account of the constant struggle to be right and failing quite frequently to get a following. in fact, that idealism has been seen by many as a loser’s vocation. but i find comfort in danny lim’s declaration that dissent without action is consent.

I do hope that sonny trillanes did not mean it when he said this is the last chance for “pagbabago.” i still subscribe to the belief that the usurper in power deserves a mussolini end, hung by plaza miranda and stripped by razor blades. though one may not believe in the death penalty, for this an exception must be made. If one were to review the course of the past events, one can draw the conclusion that waiting for an edsa response is futile and new strategy must be employed. one that takes into account the brutality of the regime you have just described. when one fights against such evil, we cannot complain that they have gone overboard because overboard is what they do. if they acted less violent, they would not be the enemy we perceive. it becomes an act of redemption for them if they are nice. so one must take that in stride and be glad of the opportunity to show the world the true nature of the villain.

the tanay officers are doing their part and have become a symbol of impassioned resistance. sonny, for all the failed attempts to inspire people, has maintained that fortitude i can only describe as “paninindigan,” a long lost character to the many people in power. refreshing actually. with such fortitude should come the persistent belief that things must be done whether people follow or not. i dread the thought that he should become one such as mar roxas or chiz escudero who must wait for popular action before taking on the banners of right. great men they might be but less of a man than the people who risked their lives or their futures to take action in the often vain hopes that people follow. i’d rather that than the many who take action only when all the action has been already done.

one also must thank the persistent coverage of journalists who seem to be the only quarter with the capacity to see and inform everyone else of the perpetual struggle against a slide to tyranny. or if we be there already, to show them the way out of it.

So you see, the weakest point in all this is the men and women we meet everyday in the street who have passions well hidden because they see nothing to inspire them to act on them. i have no doubt that most of the people abhor those who abuse usurped power. but many have resigned themselves to just waiting. too many have said the enemy is too strong. it is too smart. too powerful. what can one man do. and they have no reason to believe that many will come to their aid in this fight because all are too worried about the food that they must eat. the money they must earn. people power is a sham because it relies on an image. a perception of support that can be bought by trucking paid people to march the streets. this the usurper knows well.

what it does not know is the limits of their own power. they can believe their own omnipotence. but until one shows them the true limit of what they can do they have not yet known their limits. and those limits must be defined for them. and these limits sonny has already defined. the usurpers have no power over a man who refuses to be marginalized by an illegitimate act. now, if only we can show the rest of the country that this is all it takes.

Thanks for the first hand info on what really happened in the hotel. As always Ellen, you are such a brave woman!
If indeed there are groups in the military who would have come to the rescue of Lim and Trillianes, the asspweron and the tiyanak should really be warry. Those who are incarcerated may have limited communications with their comrades in the field but there is a common bond amongst them-the mistah tradition. Most of these mistahs are just waiting for the right time. Many of these offficers disdain the guts of asspweron and are anxious to see him retire soon!

Asspweron was quick in blocking all the roads leading into Makati and even the roads coming from the provinces in all directions. Asspweron did not mobilize the men of Gen Lim and Gen Miranda, I wonder why?

Although this standoff was short and seemingly futile, the incident had shown once again that asspweron is not in control. I agree with the comment of Azcarraga_times that if Lim and Trillanes who had limited resources(men, time and freedom) could cause havoc, it should be a model for those in the higher positions in the AFP who wish to instill change that they can do better than Lim and Trillianes as they have the men, artillery and access to the targets.

General Lim had said “the die is cast” and he may know something asspweron doesn’t. What asspweron and the tiyanak may not know is there may still a “few good men” in the service who will not be bought and will one day say “enough is enough”. When the political system is all so corrupted, in all the branches, a military intervention is the only way to go. Maybe the AFP is just waiting for the ass to retire and they will do their number later. The soldiers should start putting away generals in the likes of asspweron, razon, arias before they do their demolition jobs!

Lim and Trillianes are already incercerated in maximum security cells, facing court martial in a kangaroo court which is obviouly biased and as Cocoy says, they may not see the light of day because they can be in bartolinas. So, what they did in Manila Pen was one heroic deed they could muster before they would be hauled back to their cells. What did they have to lose? Can they get any harsher treatment than what they are already in? I admire their guts! I do not agree with you Cocoy that these two are goners. Mandela was in prison for 27 years and he became a president! Trillianes may be rough on the edges but he has his heart in place! Lim is a West Point graduate and a non- corrupted general and he has a great deal of respect from the armed forces unlike the ass who got all his stars by being a snitch and a crying crocodile! Lim is no dummy! He certainly knows how to play the generals’ game. Watch and see what I mean years from now.

The larger part of the blame are the constituents who elected the corrupt congressmen into office that kill the impeachment of the president. Not that these constituents cannot do anything anymore. Each district is empowered by the local government code that they can recall their elected congressman and replaced them. Either the constituents are not interested to do their civic duty or they benefitted from the handouts from the Palace through their elected congressmen.

The media has the duty to inform the constituents on what they can do to address civic issue especially to get rid of corrupt congressmen. So far, there is no taker as it lacks sensationalism which is the selling point of media.

By nature, Filipinos love dramas. Filipinos had romanticized Gringo then, now it is Trillanes. Some kind of mistahhhhh, gentlemen and military officer. Same story, unfortunately same ending. Weird.

The military had staged the highest number of coups during the time of Cory Aquino who is a saint compared to Gloria Arroyo. The military has lost its worth even before Trillanes follow the same old path to tragic failure. Simply, military solution has lost its crediblity in toppling one corrupt president and installing another. There is democratic way to do it, why do it with the barrel of the gun. People have made the wisest decision not to support military adventurism. Military adventurism has no place in a democratic society. However, Filipinos have yet to make the wisest choice of a president.

    Parasabayan;

A serious violations of laws have been committed by Gen.Lim and Trillanes. They attacks civilian infrastructure. What positive, they have achieved? Those unhappy people at the hotel were cursing them. The crime of “shielding” using the presence of civilians to prevent certain military attack. Using human shields is a war crime, attacks on civilians, or acts to intimidate civilians, clearly violate international humanitarian law, and may constitute war crimes, even if carried out in reprisal for attacks by an adversary on one’s own civilians. International humanitarian law requires that armed forces distinguish between combatants and civilians, and between military objects and civilian objects, at all times. It is also forbidden to carry out indiscriminate attacks or attacks that cause damage disproportionate to the anticipated concrete military advantage. Trillanes and Lim should know well because they are a professional soldiers and I don’t agree with there move as much as I have an admiration for both of them. It is a cowardly act. Also, those tenants in the hotel were all from different countries having a good time in our country, why distract them?

Power is intoxicating and those holding power will not step down. The lying, cheating, corrupt, abusive gloria can only do so much if not protected (killing impeachment) by equally lying, cheating, corrupt abusive congressmen that people put into office. Let say Gloria is removed, there is greater chance that we are looking forward to another Gloria clone. I think the drama has wider participants and various characters because we cannot look beyond personalities and understand why leaders after leaders and more than 20 years after Marcos, we are still looking at the same leadership problem – corrupt.

Cocoy, if you read your history, all countries who became first world countries went through a revolution headed by the military. When the democratic system is not working anymore and the corruption is the norm in all arms of the government, something has to be done! When the rich become richer and the poor become poorer, there is something very wrong. I read in the papers all the time the stock gain of double digits, international companies registering double digit gains and yet year after year in the tiyanak’s regime the numbers of hungry people are increasing. There is something very wrong! If we wait for a democratic way of taking out this corrupt regime, it may never come. The congress is bought( save for a few who do not have the balls to even do anything about the state of the nation), the judiciary is prostrituted(again save for a few who may still be principled but outnumbered by the corrupt ones) and an executive arm that is the dysfunctional and corrupt arm! Wait for 2010 for the next elections? You must be kidding! The money of the corrupt politicians will be flowing like honey again. Whoever has the power now will flood the people with money and the same corrupt officials will be elected! The villains who stole from our treasury will be scott free!
Thailand went into several coups and look how they are now? They have bigger market share for their products in the world. They have a better economy than what we have ( I know so because I was in the country a few times).
What we need is a complte overhaul of our system. Jail the corrupt officials and sequester all their stolen loot. But look what thge tiyanak did to Erap? After Erap was convicted as a plunderer( I have doubts he stole more than the tiyanak did) he was pardoned immediately! All elected officials’ first agenda when elected into office is to enrich oneself. We are hopeless indeed unless something drastic will be done to completely change the system that we have. We have to start someplace with this and if a revolution will ensue, if this is the hard pill to swallow, let it be as long as we cna move forward and not rot more in a system that is no longer working for us!

  42. Sorry, but I am not fluent in stupid. Could you please talk slooowly?

  45. The word “sanggano” is most appropriate for these policemen (kuno).

I have not met anything like these “namumuking sanggano” among the elite members of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department (the National Police Agency over here BTW is merely a policy making body). Having worked for the police here, I have actually high respect and regard for men of law in our country, but for the men of law in the Philippines, I say, “Pwe! Nakakadiri!”

Over in our country, the military is not allowed to meddle in police affairs, even in quelling terrorist acts by foreigners in Japan. Only the POLICE has the sole responsibility to keep peace and order in the country. The military, despite the creation of a defense ministry, etc.is by virtue of the pacifist Constitution, is considered unconstitutional. I doubt if the general citizenry will condone any similar atrocities committed by the military in full military gear on even people like Trillanes and Lim, who BTW were unarmed.

I don’t think policemen here can and will be allowed to do what the sangganos did to Guingona, et al. Lagot sila sa mga bar associations and court dito kung dito nangyari iyan. But then, what can you expect? Mismong gobyerno, lalo na iyong justice department, kasi ng Pilipinas puro lawbreakers ang nagpapagalaw starting from the Dorobo na sabi nga ni Susan Roces “has stolen the presidency not once but twice” and from the treasury a lot of times.

all I can say is Thank you Ellen for being my alternative reporter for what really happened in the Makati siege or whatever you call it. Trillanes and co.’s actions drew a lot of reactions of course and I personally can only say that the people I totally agree with are the comments of Randy David and Sen. Aquilino Pimentel. I still have to read from Mr. Conrado de Quiros. I live outside metro Manila and admit I do have my own biases. I have in the past also participated in rallies just so to add to the body count. Today, I see the familiar faces who voice out their protests against the familiar actions of corruptions and abuses. I realize I have grown older too yet I still have in me that gut feel that the government is just as worst as was Marcos’ time. I feel the desperation of Trillanes and co. I also understand that Barias and company are at the other side of the fence and that if they lose in this adventure they would lose face. I recall my sister told me in one of the rallies she attended during college, one of the tanods at their back whispered to them to just leave in peace so they (the tanods) can also go home (in peace.) That was before they (the tanods) were ordered to strike na. Then my sister felt how it was to get hit by a yantok. I by the way know how it is to be tear-gassed. I recall when riding the public bus home (all wet and smelling from the tear gas) the people in the bus looked at me quite sadly like “ineng, matuto kang mabuhay dito sa mundo katulad namin.”

Amidst all the damages and ill-feelings of the tourists and hotel-goers, I feel a certain elation that Trillanes and company did what they did. It just is really, really hard for most to get out of their comfort zones.

    *****

How can they be offended, Ellen, when the PNP is I understand part of the military? In short, sila-sila rin iyan.

In fact, a lot many policemen with no military background I know are complaining and feel that they are being left out, and why a lot of them are actually just there for the kill and whatever monetary rewards they can get, no more of those ideals to uphold truth and right.

This is one reason why they should SEPARATE the police from the military so that there will be no overlapping of duties and responsibilities that more often than not result in abuses and atrocities being committed by those who are now in power.

    Kawawang bansa!

  72. BTW, Ellen, anong ginawa ng mga nasa loob when the military started firing at them in full battle gear and war tanks (humvees that the Asahi TV staff counted to be about 5)? Iyong sound kasi parang nagbarilan e.

    Parasabayan;

What revolution and revolt against who?If Trillanes motive is revolution why don’t they proceed to Camp Aguinaldo or Fort Bonifacio. And if Trillanes groups thought that they still have some military sympathizer on their side, I am sure they are all in that military camp. Enrile and Honasan marched to Crame not in civilian infrastructure. That was a legit uprising because the battlefield is among military, to revolt involving civilian collateral damage is unacceptable.

Breaking the door is a forcible entry, His groups were armed and in military uniform, is that a valid reason for Trillanes’ groups to take drastic action against the government? Of course! I was elated when they walked-out, I even applauded them, but when they forced their way-in the hotel, Lord have Mercy! I was disappointed.

  78. Golly, kung ako ang hotel management, I would file a protest when the military demanded that the guests be removed so they can attack those remaining there after 3 pm!

Kaya nga sa hotel nagpunta siguro sila Lim, Trillanes, et al dahil akala nila siguro may dangal pang natitira iyong mga pinuno ng AFP. Wala pala! Pero kasalanan ba nila iyon? Nakita namang wala silang mga armas sa totoo lang for the idiots at the Philippine military posing as policemen that they should be quelled by the use of full military force.

Only in the Philippines!

Kawawang bansa!!! All the more reason to expose this sad state of the Philippine nation.

Thank God for journalists like Ellen!!!

  80. You still have a full month left to finish up your 2007 New Year’s Resolutions. Stop slacking.

    Some suggested ones:

Gloria Pidal: “I will not only be cute and short.I will be honest”

Sergio Apostol(presidential legal counsel): I will believe, really believe that “No man (OR woman) is above the LAW!”

Lady Miriam: “I will not insult again the 1.3 billion Chinese.(My mother -in-law is also Chinese!)”

Iggy Arroyo(Pidal Junior): “I will stick to my domestic problems first before I open my mouth and talk nonsensically about the latest political headlines.”

Mike (PIDAL Senior) :”I will buck off from government deals!”

Ronnie Puno:I will memorize this “Oh Mortal Man, is there nothing you cannot be made to believe?Josef Goebbel, Minister of Popular Enlightenment and Propaganda

Senator Trillanes: “I will accept the purification process.I will be patient as a young leader(Mandela
stayed in prison for 26 years!). ”

    Any other suggestions?

  81. Then they asked, “Who is member of ABB?” referring to the Alex Boncayao communist hit squad. Nobody stood up.

Hahahahaha! Nalaglag ako sa upuan ko on this! BOBO!

  82. Iggy Arroyo(Pidal Junior): “I will stick to my domestic problems first before I open my mouth and talk nonsensically about the latest political headlines.”

    Cocoy,

the if trillanes finds himself at the helm of a government devoted to a renewal of principles, he simply deserves it. he can only offer himself up to the service because no one else will. your suggestion to drop him assumes that your alternative is either no one (which cannot work) or the existing politicos (who do nothing but stand around and wait for the masses to deliver the throne). In this case, i prefer the man who has risked his life in the desire to provide us with something better.

the genius of Gen. Lim and Trillanes’s actions, however, is that while they have the option to take up arms and blitz the government when they can, they do not do so. i suspect it is deliberate because they want the victory against a usurping power to belong to the people he wishes to serve. the goal, i believe is to provide the people a chance for redemption for their past inaction. sadly, it has not YET come to pass. someday i hope it will. of course i do not suggest that he waits for people to deliver a victory for him. rather, his conduct seems to show that he does what he can short of taking over power because he wants to leave a little much for the people to have some degree of ownership to the victory against tyranny.

sadly, people such as you only see the immediate impact of the act and fail to see the principle and vision behind it. i doubt if you will ever see it as the arrogance by which you demand that we the filipino people should remain victims of our own weaknesses seems to characterize your views. hopefully it will change. it is understandable though that you fear the fight because you may have too much to lose. i myself grew tired of fighting for a while. but whenever it is that you grow up to appreciate the value of principled leadership or of an honest society for you or your children, please acknowledge right when you see it with the same arrogance and passion you display today.

otherwise, you can neuter yourself to save our future generations the gene of ignorance that you may perpetuate.

    # 22 Law of Power

    Use the surrender
    tactic:transform weakness into power

When you are weaker, never fight for honor’s sake: choose surrender instead. Surrender gives you time to recover, time to torment and irritate your conqueror, time to wait for his/her power to wane. Do not give him / her the satisfaction of fighting and defeating you – surrender first. By turning the other check you infuriate and unsettle him/her. Make surrender a tool of power.

Parang Ramon Magsaysay is my Guy and We Say Mabuhay!

It is not only Trillanes and Lim who has a vision to see our country prosper and completely free from tyranny. We have a lot of people.I admired Trillanes in the past don’t get me wrong. I even campaigned for him and I don’t need to elaborate to you the sacrifices and expenses. Is that the leader you want to run our country using civilian as a collateral damage for his self interest? We have a constitutional mandate on the land, we have a judiciary, executive and legislative. If Trillanes think that it was been prostituted by the present administration and rigged the election results, they were part of it because it was there superior who collaborated. Why they obey the orders before, and now they complain. The Garci Generals could not do it without their participation. Now, if we tolerate this kind of behavior, every time there is some unpleasantries to to our government, we always have a revolution. I am sorry Parasabayan I don’t even agree with him attacking civilian infrastructures. I’ll even support him if he attack his own backyard, the military installation.

The parallelism between Jesus Christ and Sen. Sonny Trillanes – Both came from humble beginnings, Christ came to save mankind, Trillanes came to save the Philippines, Christ condemned the religious leaders during His time calling them hypocrites (Mat. 23:13-29), Trillanes condemned the government leaders for all their sins including hypocrisy, both were BETRAYED and MOCKED by people who they thought will support them, both were treated like common criminals, Christ was crucified physically and emotionally, Trillanes is now being crucified albeit emotionally (just read this blog, lots of pharisees and sadduces swarming).

Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago is preparing to ask the Senate to reprimand or even expel Senator Antonio Trillanes IV for leading a siege on a hotel in Makati.

According to her, Trillanes participated in the reading of a prepared seditious statement calling not only for the President to resign, but also for the public, in effect, to compel her to leave office.

Lim truly had the worst dissappointment in his life. He thought Senator Trillanes had most bloggers on his side. Many wanted na patalsikin na, now na, the theme of this corner. But where have all the flowery words gone when Trillanes called for us? Or he thought we had multitudes to send to Makati then. Words lang pala tayo.
Lim should have learned a lot by now that we can not live by 200 pesos alone. He should have advised Trillanes that calling people took many days to the EDSA 1. And they should have brought gas masks along. They could have stayed and weathered the blitz til next day when there were more people on the streets to rally at strategic location.
They took away the journalists, ok lang but mukhang Magdalo ba pati mga babae? Some, perhaps. Joke lang yan last two words, Ellen. I am glad you went through that ordeal unharmed.

  99. bulakog bulakog

let me express my own opinion regarding the trillanes “problem”.

trillanes is no christ” at most he is a spoilt brat who has to find lush aircon hotels at the heart of makati for his headquarters–sunburn is bad for his skin.

maybe that is why he surrendered after being tear gassed–must be his elitist “allergies” acting up.

it is my opinion that trillantes has been overrated by the media, and that i maintain that he is a dishonor among our good soldiers who has been called “pigs” by no less than the media who find no comfort in being too biased to find everything wrong in a government they have helped install.

i think freedom of the press is overrated too. the manila-based media maintain their rights to freedom but avoid real news that affect the common man–like finding abuses in monopolist companies that have continually refused (or barred from)employing the normally-educated filipino, choosing only UP or Ateneo-educated hypocrites whom have the gall to call themselves “poor” and “abused”.

some (like nemenzo) fight for the removal of english in the school curriculum, so that the “probinsyanos” won’t be able to understand the confusion of the english-speaking elite.

not only do are the “probinsiyanos” made fun of our language and our accents. the manilenos also want us to be stupid by following their exhortations of grandeur.

manila does not the philippines make, manilenos (and when i say manilenos, i mean not only those who were born there, but who have abandoned their provinces for “greener pastures” leaving their native regions without much than a self-righteous “kawawa naman kayo, tamad kasi kayo” attitude).

and i maintain arroyo to be the duly designated constitutional successor of Pres. Estrada (who shouldn’t have been unseated by the same people who are now his “friends”). Read the constitution. Its as simple as that. Even the contestants in “American Idol” know the rules, and they are less educated than most of our politicians, bishops with doctorates in divinities from Rome and media practitioners with university backgrounds.

At least in letting Estrada free Arroyo finds herself vindicated by the crime that Tita Cory, Guingona, Drilon, Villar, Legarda and Pimentel et al started–overthrowing a duly elected top official of our land who was unfairly treated by a culture of hypocrites (officials in power, martial law hungry generals, opportunistic opposition, all-too-powerful moneyed businessmen and a too-biased media).

And all the noise about the “Hello, Garci” noise only confirms everything it has been through all these years—its just noise by the media who find in its greed to sell newspapers (P100,000 per page, P30,000 per 30-second TV commercial, right?)The so-called evidence, while may be based on fact (Arroyo is no angel, but also part of this “culture of hypocrisy”) has been deemed as “illegal”. No case, case closed, now let’s move on.

If the media really is sincere to fight corruption, then i submit the following suggestion: return to your calling by doing your jobs as public servants.

Natural gusto nyan manalo kaya nagiging corrupt so kurakot to da max pag nanalo.

so while the politicians are trying to refill their coffers after paying up the all-powerful media and the martial law-hungry generals (to the frustration of an envious, not to mention bankrupt and unseated opposition), the rest of the filipinos remain poor and helpless.

i think the culture of corruption also include the media, not only in philippine politics, but in the on-going despicable culture dr. jose rizal called “cancer”.

that is why the people don’t go to all these much-publicized movements anymore–even as the media, the church and the politicians try to make clones of Edsa, impugning its sacred name.

not that we are not concerned and we are less fired by the fires of nationalism, its just that we dont trust you anymore.

not only do we not trust the government or the opposition, we don’t trust the media too.

thank you very much for the space.

Para sa akin things have already changed, if we look at the advancement of information technology, MEDIA is omnipotent. I think this is the main reason why China is evolving, they keep their media balanced…sometimes obstructed. There is a negative and there is positive side in this issue, we just have to choose between the lesser of two evils. In this case, walang absolute freedom of the press? o patuloy na kahirapan ng bayan.

Di ba natalo sina Gen. Lim at Sen. Trillanes? Why is the government still so worried? Nakakulong naman yun dalawa ah. In fact, matagal na silang nakakulong.

    bulakog said it all.

Media is the key. The opposition knows that, the company who pays for ads knows that and even the presidentiables know that. Kung walang Media, walang Trillanes. Its the unbalanced journalism of the likes of De Quiros and his ilk who choose to find path of unprofessionalism to render personal revenge that has catapulted those pretend-to-be-your-heroes tyrants in power. They say they fight for truth and justice, but I always see personal grudge. That is why it is hard to believe them. Kung hindi personal ang galit nila they should have mentioned some improvements sometimes. They use exaggeration to all the bads but they do not mind the good ones. Doon kasi ang pera, at doon kasi popular.

In China, who is considered as the most powerful woman? Isang media personality. And I believe she will be spokesperson of the next Olympics. She is considered as Oprah Winfrey of China, and Oprah herself is rich and powerful. We do not have someone like them…they fight for truth and justice, but they do it with balanced professionalism without inflicting chaos and hate. That is why they have millions of followers. I was happy to have spotted HTLaurel and others in the KME to be among those around him.

So anong masama sa ipinaglalaban nya?

What’s the problem if he wants to lead this country, when he , by all indications, knows what he wants to do with it?

this is my opinion, and my opinion alone.
it’s easy to extoll so-called achievements by persons (we all have our own achievements to be boastful for) and their regard to make our our country a better place.
i can boast my own, for god knows i’ve had my moments of glory during the times of martial law, and achieved things that the country would be proud of—if only the media would be kind enough to let it be known!!!!
but my contribution to my country won’t matter if there are no contributions from other people’s efforts, too.
maybe trillantes has his good points, too.
but for the life of me i cannot understand why he has to dishonor our courts, make this self-image that only he can fix our country’s ills, and station himself to a place that i can only consider to be the “symbol of comfort” at the middle of makati.
i think that’s what made him incredible as an “alternative” to the people you called “malaki ang kasalanan sa bayan.”
i also want all these “people” thrown to jail, i assure you.
but what i can say is: EDSA has chosen not to tread the ways of the French or England or Russia, where they ended up killing their monarchs in the name of freedom ,only to be replaced by the same corrupt kind of people they claimed themselves they are not.
the philippine people have remained true to the ideals of humanity and still remained intact by not being guilty of the blood of of their oppressors.
we have moved backwards and forwards, have seen our heroes turn into corrupt politicians, and yet we do not lose hope.
all because we believe in what we started, and this idealism should not be forgotten.
i believe that the first step should be our own.
and i believe that trillanes’ path is not the path to progress.

Full of inconsistencies ang mga depensa, ‘ika nga.

There’s more to what had happened at Manila Pen last Thursday…it was not a mere “spoiled-brat” elected senator “having siesta” in a five star hotel…although i don’t agree with how Trillanes expressed his dissatisfaction in GMAs government.

In the events that happened…nakita natin that Trillanes & Gen Lim has never lost their idealism, they were probably disappointed with what happened…thanks to GMAs “think-tank” who was quick or should I say panicky enough to “control” the situation by blocking all streets leading to Manila Pen and by immediately attacking the “armless” people at Manila Pen and by issuing a 12-5am curfew…obviously they were scared that if the standoff will take more than 24 hours, and at the eve of Bonifacio day, magpapang abot ang mga raliyista at hindi malayong magsimula ang malawakang pagpapatalsik kay Arroyo.

Geary Barias was obviously pissed kaya he ordered the attack knowing that there were civilians inside the hotel…at an interview after the standoff he was asked if he had a chance to talk with the two soldiers who blocked him at the hotels’ entrance…he said that he did, and it was like an “upperclass talking to a lower class” the height of kayabangan very “police officer” ang dating… that sets the PNP way way apart from the military…of course most of us are also pissed kasi panibagong gulo na naman but think about it…it just proves that at least Trillanes (however “dumb” the way he had showed his dissatisfaction with GMAs government) was bold enough to stand by his idealism…not like many of us who would rather “sulk” and “whine” and “blame” others why our probinsya or the whole country for that matter ay napag iiwanan…pero wala namang ginagawa kahit ang mismong “pinuno” na ng bansa ang patuloy na naglulugmok satin sa pusali

Ah…but Justice and Revenge has quite a thin line that separates them. Tell me how to sort them out.

    Ikaw talaga… masyadong sensitive.

Trabaho lang pare. Gawin mo. Iyan ang pinasok mo, eh.

  120. duren duren

In your dollar argument…I have said this pero para sa iyo pare..sasabihin ko ulit. The appreciation of the peso was caused noy only because the dollar is weak but mainly because of the OFW and the economic reforms . Kung mababa lang ang dolyar the philippine economy should have been in mediocre compared to others.

come on, if one believes whatever our money-oiled media proclaims without resorting to proper and LEGAL processes, then i’d better go and found a media conglomerate of my own so that i can have the monopoly of truth.
our country is young, and so are our institutions.
we see all these corruption and of course we are disgusted by all these.
but i am also disgusted how we have put media–an entity whose existence is mostly based on profit–to be above our institutions and our President.
marcos was an exception, for he has been in power for too long. it was not just the media who ousted him, it was the Filipino people (although this may be argued, and i respect that point of view too.)
i refuse to be indoctrinated by slogans of discontent just because i am discontented.
WE HAVE TO FOLLOW THE RULE OF LAW.
if not all of these things we fought for will be lost. we will all be like trillanes, a mob of law-breaking lynchists.
just because a president may have broken (as far as i see it, HELLO GARCI is a political, not a legal agenda) the law gives me the excuse to break it.
WE MUST ALL FOLLOW THE LAW.
No exemptions. and that includes you, trillanes.

i have done my part in making our country a better place.
in 1984 i was part of who stood up against marcos in rallies, and was part of the PEOPLE POWER movement in the provinces in 1986.
i have stood up and let my contributions be known BY BEING A LAW-ABIDING CITIZEN.
i follow all rules of traffic (helps that i don’t drive). I pay my taxes. I exercise my right to be heard, and i give my suggestions to people who need it.
I have won an international competition in the behalf of the Philippine people (which the media did not feature because they wanted to propagate other things–like “sawang napatay sa Cubao”).
i exercise my right to vote and my right to express my opinion (like now).
i have made my province proud by outbesting Manila-trained artists. i contribute whatever i can to the country in a POSITIVE WAY, not expecting nor received any help or donation from the government.
I have not blamed the government for the slow progress, but the ELEMENTS that make progress slow in the first place.
And it cannot be denied that it was THIS PRESIDENT who have helped our province into what it is now. She has supported the programs and economic and social concerns.
i do not sulk or whine. i am a filipino and will forever be proud to be one.

After the Pen stand off, my heart sank in disbelief ! I could not understand what has just happened; many were starting to text & give their opinions on how stupid Sen Trillanes & Gen Lim are for making such a move; good soldiers as they are, I couldn’t imagine they miscalculated. These were the “few good men” I admired for their courage & intelligence. Was I wrong, after all ? Was I made to believe they were all cool, only to realize that they were just impatient idealists ? What happened ?

In my quest to make sense of it all, I chanced upon an ABS-CBN Dec 5 2005 article on its web (http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/topofthehour.aspx?StoryId=24803), where Marine Capt Nicanor Faeldon escaped “during a commotion at the Makati City regional Trial Court’s parking lot.” This struck me. The episode was almost 2 years ago. It’s too damn coincidental that Capt Faeldon was able to escape again.

Although the negative texts still keep coming through my phone, for me, I see that what happened at the Pen was the beginning of something.

As Gen Lim said, “the die is cast”.

    It’s not over.

    *********************************

Ms Ellen, I commend you for a job well done ! Like Sen Trillanes & Gen Lim, it took G-U-T-S ! THANK YOU, Ms Ellen. THANK YOU Sen Trillanes & Gen Lim, & the rest.

Eh wala naman talagang maisip. yup disgusting talaga ang mga balitang ganyan. it presents to us a scenario that the Arroyo administation is corrupt, and that corruption will continue as it was before, more than it has been.
but we should ask these questions:
    1. are these allegations of corruption with basis or not?
    2. are they pointing at the right person?
    3. are these allegations of corruption done with the implicit or explicit consent of the persons accused of the crime/s of?
    4. is the allegation done within the scope of the law or not, within the bounds of fairness and impartiality, or not?
    5. are the ones making the allegation persons of good standing and of integrity, and are capable to make such allegations?
    6. are these allegations done at the right forum (like a civil court, etc)?
    7. have rulings been decided on these allegations? if there are, have these rulings been finalized?

and so on and so forth.

and it is also my opinion that as law-abiding citizens we stick to due process, the rule of law the institutions of our country, not the biased news that many of our media people have somehow concocted for us “foolish naive people” to consume, like proclaiming heroes out of these “elitist” putschists.

  169. Statement of the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility on the Arrest of Members of the Media Covering the Peninsula Hotel Incident

Never in the turbulent recent history of the Philippines has any government, including that of Ferdinand Marcos, ever taken into custody members of the media who were on the scene to do their jobs.

But the arrest of the media people who were covering the take-over of the Peninsula Hotel by Senator Antonio Trillanes’ Magdalo group is not only unprecedented. It is also an outrage, and a telling indication of the authoritarian depths into which the Arroyo regime has fallen in its obsession with political dominance. The Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility condemns this latest attack on the Philippine press as an assault not only on its Constitutionally-protected freedom, but also on democracy itself.

The arrests took place when the crisis was over, and Trillanes and company were already in police custody. The arrests can only be interpreted as one more attempt, together with libel suits and other harassments, to intimidate the Philippine press into either minimal or less aggressive reporting of political events. Media practitioners will remember this incident well, and some are likely to be affected enough to soften future coverage.

The Defense Secretary’s excuse that the police had to verify the identities of the media people covering the Peninsula Hotel crisis because there could be Magdalo members and sympathizers among them is totally unacceptable. Their identities were verifiable on-site, with some them being TV anchors well-known to millions of television viewers.

That members of the media, among them technical personnel and camerapersons as well as radio broadcasters and TV anchors, were being arrested at the very moment that Mrs. Arroyo was on the air describing her commitment to democracy was especially ironic. But it was also typical of the Arroyo regime’s rhetorical and contrived adherence to democracy and the rule of law.

The regime’s continuing assault on press freedom, free expression and freedom of assembly, of which this incident is only the latest, deserves condemnation. CMFR calls on all media, free expression and journalists’ groups in this country as well as abroad to denounce this atrocity as a willful act to inflict collateral damage on the Philippine press for doing its mandated responsibility of providing the sovereign public the information it needs.

Re: “Never in the turbulent recent history of the Philippines has any government, including that of Ferdinand Marcos, ever taken into custody members of the media who were on the scene to do their jobs.”

But you see, there is no comparisson — Ferdinand Marcos’ intellect was far superior than this Gloria maggot! She is manipulative and foxy alright but so can any street thug!

  174. Inquirer’s article says, “While rebel soldiers were calling for “people power” during the Manila Peninsula siege, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was quietly consolidating her forces — military, police and civilian — around the country to choke off support for the rebel group.”

I hope her brigaders here are not succeeding in poisoning the minds of faithful bloggers here to withdraw support from Trillanes, Lim, et al. Right or wrong, they are definitely fighting for a cause for country and people, not for a criminal calling herself “President.” Yuck!!!

    ‘Kakasuka!

  175. Much as I like Sonny Trillanes, there is no comparison between him and Christ, and I doubt if he thinks of himself as one. Christ was/is the ONLY Son Begotten by the Father in case you forget it. Sonny was/is the son of a mortal!!!

He must have been foreordained to lead his people more like Moses perhaps, but not Christ. I’d wait for the results of his efforts now. If they are good, then we know they are of God, and he must indeed have been foreordained by the Lord above, and if anything bad happens to him, surely the one responsible for it will pay dearly, even rot in hell!!!

  176. Thanks for the video clip. I cannot save it from here, though. Ellen, puede bang paki-email so I can show it to my media friends here? Thanks.

  177. Frankly, Ellen, I saw Sandra in the video clips that I translated for one or two TV stations here. She was trying to get a word from General Lim but did not get an answer. Pati ba siya pina-processing din? Ang tindi!….ng kabobohan.

Wala ngang rule of law! Inutil talaga!

  178. But siguro blessing in disguise ang nangyari kasi at least ngayon alam na nilang nasa media na talagang demonya iyong Dorobo (Japanese for thief/robber), and they should now try to expose her, her husband and their minions.

Iyong mga dummies dapat imbestigahan, including her frequent business trips abroad lalo na kapag kasama iyong baboy. Sinosolo daw lahat ang investment according to my source. Sila-sila lang as in the ZTE/NBC deal with the Chinese.

Ang mahalaga ay “the die is cast!” Naipahiwatig na ang mensaheng iyan, and it is enough.

  180. Common sense naman na after a coup, may military junta na ordinarily, temporary lang naman. Necessity iyan. Sabi nga, “The end justifies the means.” It’s a Machiavellian idea, which is that if the goal you are working for is important enough, then whatever you do to get there is acceptable.

  181. bulakog bulakog

actually, i feel disillusioned by the political movements here in the philippines. all that seemed good and true and worthy to give your life for have proven to be just like the very things you hate.
supporting cory during the marcos era seemed the right thing to do then, so one feels enjoined to be with the marching multitude against the dictator.
and yet after EDSA all seemed to turn grey, not the black-and-white idealism that we wanted.
senators and congressmen started to enrich themselves like the despot they fought, later being found in the company of the enemy. one by one these people we admired joined the club of the usurpers. “padamihan ng kurakot para may pambayad ka” has become the norm rather than the abhorred.
cory turned from the wife of a martyr to a haciendera letting her workers be shot in cold blood, and turned her back from her friends by choosing fidel ramos (yes, the pc general responsible for her husband’s imprisonment!) as her successor.
even the media was not spared. one sees the media personalities becoming multimillionaires, able to buy cars, condos, and property from their high salaries but have forgotten the fight of EDSA.
the bishops also succumbed, if not kept to themselves or simply passed on.
now all these things that we see on TV seem to be the truth. but then we see them favoring the side of the rich and not the oppressed, and only seem to regain their “tibak” sense when their rights are affected, invoking “press freedom” when needed but waste time talking about showbiz, unjournalistic “commercial” pursuits and even utter nonsense. how about sense of fairness and impartiality and public service?
the media talk of freedom, but disregarded the freedom of others by trampling on other peoples rights, even acting as judge, jury and executioner. be reminded that the media should not act as the know-it-all savior of the philippines, but the faithful record of our country’s events–as the media is intended for.
let the people read about the truth so that they can decide on their own behalf–do not influence their judgement. HINDI SILA MGA BOBO.
now if someone tries to be a good filipino for a change, and stop blaming everyone, and START FOLLOWING THE LAW, then it would be for the best.
and it starts from top to bottom, from gloria and the first family, to her allies and their alalays, the opposition, the businessmen, the masa, you and me included.
let us stop the web of injustice that has enveloped the country for so long.
LET US NOT CONDONE ANYONE WHO HAVE NOT FOLLOWED THE LAW, whatever their intentions may be. not gloria or trillanes.
    let us begin now.

  182. Mrivera,

Macapagal Boulevard Scam – Adjustments to one contract caused the cost of the construction of the President Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay City to balloon from P731.44 million to P1.1 billion. More than P837 million of this amount went to JD Legaspi Construction, one of the three firms that constructed the project.

Another source of info is here.

  183. LET US NOT CONDONE ANYONE WHO HAVE NOT FOLLOWED THE LAW, whatever their intentions may be. not gloria or trillanes.
    let us begin now.

I like this one. In fact, this is a classic argument that when taken face value is really acceptable.

But if you take into account that it is Glueria that is in power now… i mean how would you prosecute Glueria NOW?

    Silly.

  184. Yuko,

I wonder how you’d look like when you execute your patented…

  185. bulakog bulakog

YES, WE HAVE PROSECUTED GLORIA. and contrary to your belief, sampot, i am not silly. i just don’t take anyone’s word and take it hook line and sinker.
it doesn’t mean that if you say i am silly it would be automatically taken as “true”.
i could try and prove it to you that i am not. but the question is: if i had proven it to you, then would you believe me? or you would continue to that childish name calling and blind yourself to the pristine argument and pride yourself to be the “bastion of truth” which you are obviously not?
    same arguement there.
there were presidential impeachments filed against arroyo. the outcome may not be to your liking but there was. after all, one does not have the monopoly of truth, especially in a society that proclaims itself to be democratic.
one may say that it is rigged or unfair, and it was a question of numbers.
THAT IS TRUE, IT IS A QUESTION OF NUMBERS. now if you are saying that it is rigged, then i submit that this argument be taken as a debate.
if you would like to say that it is not a question of numbers, but of morality, then what do you suggest? a coup d’etat? is that more moral in a democratic society?
an impeachment proceeding is a political not a judicial process. and it is done in accordance to law.
erap was found guilty, and was convicted. by a judicial court and was pardoned by gloria.
that is also in accordance with the law.
now, if you would like to tell us that the constitution will be disregarded and let a person like trillanes be a better choice than the law, then i do not agree with you.
i would rather stick with a president that has been elected by the filipino people (although you may find that debatable) and has pledged to protect our constitution than letting all go to waste and DECLARE A PUTSCHIST MILITARY MAN WHO DOES NOT RESPECT OUR COURTS as the better alternative.
let us not elevate his kind as a hero. that will be most despicable to everything our country stood for.
so i appeal to all the people who may have thoughts of supporting this man trillanes: DO NOT TRUST HIS KIND.

Yes, sa constitution GMA was next in line but that didn’t mean she has the power to do everything she likes…magaling lang talaga magtago at maglihis itong si GMA…lest we forget about the hundreds of militants killed and abducted during her term…and sa sunod sunod na bombings na syempre ipinapaako nya sa mga “terorista”…

it doesn’t matter if it is not the will of the people. what matters is that you have a bigger voice.

  191. …It is freedom of the press, speech and assembly. It is guaranteed by the Constitution, supposedly!

… pride yourself to be the “bastion of truth” which you are obviously not?

I don’t claim to have discover the truth, because it should be the task of every individual to discover it for himself if he is interested in the first place.

That is why i titled it like so – The Truth As I Understand It

… because it’s the way I personally understand it, arriving at such a conclusion after having known the works of Heraclitus, Giordano Bruno, Galileo, Reich, Tesla, and many others.

Even Tesla did not claim to have discovered all theories that he was using in his research. So why would I?

All these names did appear on that article. So please don’t put your own words into my mouth, and say that I laid claim on them.

What I did was only to “connectin the dots” about economic, political, religion, and science issues so i could in my little capacity, help somebody understand why this country is still poor in spite of the fact that we are surrounded with rich natural resources.

Is this misery imposed to us?

Are we made poor and poorer so we can’t afford a good education to make us dumb and dumber each day so we won’t be able to question authority?

These are just few of so many questions i have in mind. That’s what the article is trying to address.

    So do I welcome ideas?

Yes, let’s talk more of it. And it’s your turn now. Please.

Nevertheless, let me just take the liberty of presenting my own understanding of the Truth itself.

  193. What impeachmeant?

Those filed by Lozano, and Pulido?

If Glueria has nothing to hide she should have allowed herself to be impeach like Estrada did, so she can prove whether she’s innocent of the scams, murders, etc., or not.

Why does she choose to get a yearly vaccination from the only democratic way of making her accountable?

Another “democratic” way of resolving the Hello Garci issue is for her to call for Snap Elections.

So, what is she afraid of in submitting herself to such exercise? The Truth?

    Costly?

Nah, our economy is getting better now, ain’t it?

    1. that Glueria was ended elected by the people and not by Garci. Debatable? What is that thing she apologized for?

    2. that Glueria is following the Constitution when EO464, 1081, the latest curfew, media clampdown, extrajudicial killings, were implemented.

So you’re not taking into consideration her nationwide broadcast of the infamous “I….. AM……SORI.” ?????

Isn’t that an admission of guilt?

  201. Who said the unano was elected by the people? Did she not admit that she called up Garci, a thing that was illegal for her to do according to the provisions of the Election Code of the Philippines. A mere sorry should not be enough. She should have been stripped of the position she is holding tight to presently, and there is no need in fact for an impeachment if only the idiots sangganos would be ordered to do a proper investigation after they have arrested the people involved in this not even secret cheating!!! Bobo!

Unfortunately, the idiots in the Philippines have allowed the criminal to appoint people in departments most responsible for righting these wrongs like the idiot calling himself Secretary of Justice who is actually perpetrating more injustices than any of the appointees of even Marcos during the Martial Law.

In other words, hindi mahuli kasi pinabayaan na ang mga kriminal na magwala at iyong mga pilipino sa Pilipinas, walang nang magawa. Ito namang nasa abroad, nagmamaang-maangan pang wala silang magagawa! Yuck!

Yuck!

I have worked with the Japanese police, and mind you, discipline, efficiency, dedication, commitment, etc. taga hanggang boto! Walang binatbat iyong mga hambug sa PNP, which is more like Palpak Na Pulpol pa!!! Puro yabang lang. Iyan ang talagang Yuck!

  203. Impeachment? Forget about it. The law says that anyone who cheats in the election can be disqualified, prosecuted and jailed. All they have to prove is the Dorobo cheated, period!

Me, too, sa totoo lang when she visited Japan and I was invited to a gathering where she met with British-educated Japanese, myself included!!! Pero dito hindi iyan pinapansin!!!

  205. bulakog bulakog

i am not here to defend gloria.
you may be right. maybe she IS guilty of cheating.
maybe she did a great injustice to our people by stealing the presidency (“…not only once but twice!” said susan roces).
but the implication of putting trillanes as a possible (and better) alternative compared to our country’s institutions–our judiciary, legislation and the executive-is more dangerous, a greater evil than the “great evil” that we associate with the arroyo presidency.
the responsibilty of being a democratic nation is great, especially with the complicated status quo that philippine politics have somehow grown accostumed to.
i am really sad how our country have been pushed into this situation.
cheating and corruption have become the norm in our everyday transactions. one cannot go on with his life without treading that thin line of trying to do what is right and breaking the law.
one good example was that coverage of THE AMAZING RACE in the philippines. the contestant was caught in traffic and was asking the taxi driver to go faster (if i remember it right a tip was offered).
the taxi driver then declared, “We have no choice but to break the law.” and went over the speed limit, much to the joy of the contestant.
that gave me a good laugh, but it did tug at something deep inside. it seems that following rules have been put at the back seat of the typical filipino.
we have not been patient in our efforts to sustain our country, and like the arbulario’s advice we go on with “instant” cures, not really caring about the patient whom we love so dearly.
rome was not built in a day.
the philippines will go on and find its way in the halls of history as it should. maybe it will embrace the ways of old, when one ha to violently dispose of its corrupt leaders and take its baby steps with blood on his hands. only time can tell.
but i believe that EDSA has taken something out of our misery and made our country better than its oppressors. we have continually refused to resort to violence, not because we are afraid to face these evil men, but because our dignity as persons show us that we can be better than them.
we will not be pulled down by these evil men! not by material wealth are we measured, but by the dignity of our person.
we will not be swayed by the ways of evil, but shall continue to live as we believe a good life ought to be lived.
money will not be our measure, but the good we do to our neighbor, even to our enemies. if the enemy asks for forgiveness, we give that person a chance, however evil he may have done.
that is why we have forgiven the marcoses, to tita cory, to fidel ramos, erap and gloria. these are the leaders we believe to have committed great sins to our country, and yet somehow they have been given the chance, again and again.
i think this is the innate goodness of the filipino, and for that he suffers, but that has been part of our inner calling to be better than our oppressors.
however, that may change, all in good measure, and it is my misfortune to believe in a cause that may be called stupidity by many, but it is my belief, and i adhere by it.
    enough said.

    ay mali po…

that is why we have forgiven the marcoses, xx tita cory, xx fidel ramos, erap and gloria. these are the leaders we believe to have committed great sins to our country, and yet somehow they have been given the chance, again and again.

    now back to my discourse….

as jewel said, we are here to discuss all these things, in our effort to make things better for our country.

now, we know that we are searching for this PERSON who will save us from the oppression of gloria and her ilk.

i believe that this person is in our midst.

but i hope that when next time he shows up, let not the media be guilty of the sin of measuring his material wealth instead of his abilities to save us from this HELL.

kung makita nyo ang taong yun, please let him say his piece, and not let him be the object of ridicule kasi wala siyang perang ipagmumudmod sa inyo.

    please do your jobs too….

and last but not the least (galit na asawa ko puro na lang daw ako internet-para sa bayan ito, darling!)

malapit na nating palitan si gloria. we have two years to find that replacement.

now i think it’s now time for the media to find that person that will save the philippines from all its ills.

i am sure that a lot of hands will be volunteered. andyan ang nacionalista at liberal, who are now preparing for the next election.

tama yan, this endeavor of finding our new president should be started at the earliest time. huwag nating sabihin na puro pulitika lamang, kesyo walang magawa ang pulitika sa bayan.

nasa inyo ang lakas, ang responsibility of journalism to bear the truth and let it be seen despite the falsehood of human folly.

galingan nyo, ha? at sana next time wag na yung laos na artista o babaeng me nunal.

yun lang….sige darling matutulog na ako.

  208. bulakog bulakog

nabasa ko yung sinabi ni sampot i sound like puno….
sampot, you have my respect. that’s good, hindi pala in vain mga ipinaglaban namin nuon.
miss ellen, you have my respect. galing ng ginagawa nyo. ipagpatuloy nyo ang laban ng responsableng pamamahayag. at ang last request ko tungkol sa susunod na paghahanap ng presidente, please spread it among your colleagues. kelangan namin ang media despite all the things i said.
o sya…good luck sa inyo. good luck sa ating lahat.

  209. bulakog bulakog

    padagdag pa
when i was talking about someone who can be president, i was talking to persons like the late RAUL ROCO.
for me he was the best candidate to be president, but the media started calling him “unwinnable” becaused of lack o funds.
i believe this label discouraged a lot of people not to vote for him. so the best man who could have been president was defeated by Erap and Glueria.
i believe he did not die of cancer, he died of a broken heart. he had it in him but because he was rejected by the people just because he did not have enough money to guard his votes….
but tapos na yun. let the dead be buried and let the living take care of its own.
    thanks for the space….

  210. At dahil patay na silang lahat na gusto mong mag-Presidente, in short, we have no choice now but to stick with your Glueria?

    Galing din.

    Pinahaba ba.

  211. Mr. Bulakog,

    I respect your opinion.

I can see now where we defer.

You can’t comprehend the Sen. Trillanes we elected to the Senate.

It’s either you refuse to or perhaps, still hoping that Glueria will step down after 2010.

    Because I don’t. Why?

“I will not run for President come 2004.”
“I am sorry. It’s just a lapse in judgment.”
“The economy is getting better.” Yet food prices continue to rise.
“I will step down in 2010 to run for Congress. [So we should have Cha-Cha now so I could be nominated for Prime Minister]”.

Good luck for your internet cafe biz. I hope you’ll not consent to students’ playing WarCraft while classes are ongoing. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Mabuhay ka!

  212. You can disregard my first message after yours.

  213. Mrivera Mrivera

“Di lang ako makakapaniwala na kaya palang gawin ang lahat na ‘to sa ilalim ng kasalukuyang Constitution.”

    sampot, p’re,

‘kaw naman. katagal na nga, eh.

at hindi nagsasawa ang mga ‘ulang’ya.

‘kakakapal baga naman ng muk’a, eh?
