Sabi ng ni Renato Reyes ng Bayan, ibig sabihin lang noon, kulang pa ang ating pagsisigaw. Kaya dapat, sa susunod, mas marami at mas malakas ang ating sigaw.
Kahit pagod, masaya kaming umuwi. Ngunit nang nasa-sasakyan na ako, may tumawag kaming kaibigan at ipina-alam sa kin na apat sa mga staff members sa opisina ni Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV ay hinuli at dinala sa Southern Police District. Sila ay sina Dominador Rull, Romel Solis, Chito Cariño at Jerry Delfin.

Tawagan lahat ng abogado,media at kaibigan na talaga naman mabilis rumesponde. Pagkatapos ng tatlong oras sa SPD, pinakawalan ang apat dahil hindi naman maiharap ang sinasabi nilang complainant.
Nag doon na sa SPD, mukhang may plano so Southern Police District head Chief Supt. Luizo Ticman na gumawa ng bagong script kasi sinabi niyang nahuli raw ang apat na naglalagay ng spikes sa kalsada. Nang tanungin ng mga abogado kung saan yung mga nakuhang spikes na dapat ay ebidensya, walang maipakita si Ticman.
Hindi pa siguro nakuha sa kanilang bodega. Hindi nila siguro akalain na mabuilis dumating ang mga abogado at media.
Sinabi rin na may mga Magdalo armbands, stickers at posters daw na hawak ang apat. Ano ngayon? Kailan ba naging ilegal ang mga Magdalo materials? Ginamit yan noong 2007 election campaign. Ginagamit yan ngayon sa rally. In demand nga yun bilang souvenir items.
Pinalaya ang apat na walang nakasampang kaso. Kaya lang, itong insidente ay tumutugma sa aming nakuhang impormasyon na gusto ni Gloria Arroyo magdeklara ng emergency rule.
Gumagawa sila mga bagay na ikakagalit ng mga nakakulong na sundalo, hindi lamang ang Magdalo kasama na rin sina Maj. Gen. Renato Miranda. Kung lalaban ang mga yun pati na rin ang kanilang mga kaalyado na hindi nakakulong, magkakagulo. May rason si Arroyo magdeklara ng emergency rule.
Hindi kumagat sa patibong sina Sen. Trillanes. Ngunit sigurado, marami pang gagawin ang kampon ni Arroyo para maisulong ang masama niyang plano.

Therefore, a Council of Multi-Sectoral Representatives is what we really need that will act as the Executive, not a one-man presidency.

She was entirely different when she was dealing with us (my team and I, maybe because were not exactly “locals” — we were visiting), but you are right, I saw her upbraid her assistant once in front us and I was kinda surprised because the poor guy didn’t know where to hide, that’s why I said she had a temper.
Apart from that, she seemed to be very cooperative and went out of her way to assist us without asking for a penny (unlike others) and so she left me with a good impression.

“Divide and rule”, a political tacticians’ favorite against political opponents to render them helpless. It will not be surprising then if the evil bitch and her dirty tricks department have a “mule” to sow disunity among the various groups opposing the regime. They did it during the 2004 elections. Angara was then the top man and how he messed up and broke wide open the opposition. There is a possibility that they are at it again, so these opposition groups should be wary on whom are they dealing with. Previous events tend to show that they are on to each its own affair except for the last one which was a great success. The defined goal is to oust the evil bitch, and unless they unite and join their forces, there’s no way that they will succeed.

The main problem is that we have a very illegitimate democratic system. Our voters elect only those people who are popular and not if they are capable. The big dilemma if GMA is ousted, the VP will take over who was elected PURELY because he’s popular with the masses, and not because he’s capable to lead the nation. Our economy has never grown this much, I don’t want to take the chance by entrusting it to someone solely popular with the masses.
To prevent this transfer, no matter how believable Lozada initially is, his credibility is now being questioned. He admitted that a certain level of corruption is acceptable to him. Questions have arisen whether he was kidnapped, because his celphone was not confiscated, he dined in Outback restaurant, and he was able to go to the place he wanted to go all along, that is, La Salle Greenhills. I even read he committed a sin of omission regarding his consultation with the wife of Sen. Joker Arroyo. He didn’t correct the impression in which it appeared the wife invited him to her house to urge him not to testify, when the fact of the matter is (based on what I read) Lozada was the one who contacted the wife around September before Joey de Venecia testified, and he was crying and that he doesn’t want to testify. So the wife invited him to her house, and told him she couldn’t lawyer for him due to conflict of interest since her husband is a Senator, while he was then president of Philforest. She advised him then, since he was so distressed, that he doesn’t have to testify if he didn’t want to. Since this was one of those ordinary free consultations, she didn’t bother to tell Joker about it. So Joker was surprised when his wife was mentioned.

Pian, Lozada never denied any wrong doing. As a matter of fact he admitted a lot of wrong doings! But there is something with this man that is different. He uses his involvement in the ZTE deal and his abduction as a tool to point out what can be done to eliminate the corruption in the government. He has created awareness, now more so with the younger generation, that there is hope in overhauling the corrupt government. He is turning a disadvantage to an advantage by educating as many people as he can by going to schools, forums and gatherings to talk about his experiences. He lost his job, his family is still in a safe house and he has death threats.
I firmly believe that he was abducted. Can someone explain the 6 hours of being driven around with a company of unknown people? The abductors did not have to confiscate his cell phone because they already told Lozada that they were aware of his texts. Advanced monitoring devices can bug cell phone calls and texts so the abductors did not have to confiscate his phone.
On the Joker issue, Joker apologized to Lozada on his rude reaction when his wife was mentioned. Apparently, Joker did not know about the meeting. Lozada was brought into Joker’s home by a friend to consult with the Senator on the issue of attending the Senate hearing but Joker was not around, only the wife was.

– Why the intimidation, abduction and threats to him and his family, not unlike the threats to other concerned citizens who dare speak out views contrary to the government’s stance?
– Why the disappearances of witnesses, whistle-blowers and journalists who courageously speak the painful truth?
– Why does the Administration hide behind the skirt of E.O. 464, preventing the Cabinet and high government officials from appearing when summoned by Congress?
– Why are the military and police forces being used to subvert the truth when their mandate is to protect all citizens?
The perceived pattern of massive corruption and abuse of power under the present dispensation remains unresolved and without closure in the following cases:
– The Hello Garci controversy

I did not like the civil societey myself, because it was not legal. I actually defended Erap, because between him and Gloria, I knew he was clean as far as the national funds are concerned. Beside, I had a project with him with no funding from the Philippines but all coming from Japan. We were about to start with that project when Gloria and her cahoots started their protests against him. Hindi tuloy natuloy.
I was not opposed to the impeachment, however, and I thought Erap should be punished for signing that bank transaction for Jose Velarde daw. That was in fact illegal anywhere in the world and I thought he should be warned about it or penalized. Over in Japan, nobody is exempted from taking legal responsibility even for such stupid mistake if indeed it was a mistake or something he took for granted. Otherwise, everybody will be doing the same mistake over and over again hanggang sa akala nila legitimate na.
Nevertheless, I thought EDSA 2 was wrong because it was clearly nothing but power grabbing. It is what the rallies being conducted now differ from it. Nobody is taking any one lead of this rally but look at how the idiot tries to twist the story and claim that someone is up for a power grab. Sino? Si Saycon, Enteng or Leah? Ano siya hilong talilong?
These rallies are to demand for her to step down. It is what majority of sane and God-fearing Filipinos want. BnW is NOT the culprit here, nor is it being self-righteous. Ture, Enteng Romano, its convenor, was part of the civil society. So what? He is not perfect, and is liable to commit mistakes, but let’s admit it. This guy has guts. Tama na iyon they are making amends for the mistakes the members of the group committed not against Erap but more against the Philippines when they gave Gloria Dorobo and her husband when they planned the power grab. An Important Suggestion to Anti-Corruption Leaders.
We have done well for the past 30 days in our mobilization of warm bodies and even expansion. There is another rally in the works (slated for March 8 I believe) and if I am allowed I wish to state a humble suggestion.
In my opinion, which I consider very critical right now, I would suggest that we recruit and expand rather than form another rally. We had a very fast ROR (rate of rallies) for now, and the only way to maintain it in such a rate is to add more troops to the cause. Recruitment and proper pacing of rallyists is essential. With adequate troops we can stagger our deployment, i.e, while one group rests the other group mobilizes. I suggest this to avoid “hobbling the army”.
However, if you still intend to push this March 8 rally regardless the reasons, I would suggest “smaller” mobile groups (of course small is a matter of perspective) just as what was done during Feb 25, People Power celebration protests.
We must be smart and formless in our strategy, let’s AVOID “Instant Noodle Victory” syndrome. Let it be a paced steady growth. Do not be tempted for a quick fix which is often the case in this age of instant gratification. Remember the lessons of People Power 1. It took years before Marcos was removed, even with a truly intense outrage at the start with the death of Benigno Aquino.
Another suggestion is to innovate. It could be done in many different forms. From “lightning raid” like projects. to cyberprotests, to blogswarms, to symposiums, symbolic yet critical stratagems, etc.
The pressure need not be in the constant gathering of warm bodies alone (although at right instances it is necessary), there are other methods as well and less taxing too.
Finally, learn to adapt to changing situations and be very aware that the enemy also adapts to your movements and plans. Once more be creative and keep them guessing.

My two cents worth on Shahani. During the elections of 2004, she was first sighted in Malacanang angling for a position in GMA’s cabinet. Nung di siya pinansin, she was seen in Rocco’s campaign rally. She again sought an appointment with Rocco who could not promise her anything. She later showed up giving support to FPJ and she wanted to extract a promise from him to head the DFA. FPJ did not promise anything but welcomed her support.
So, for what its worth, I’m not surprised she showed up at the rally.

Leah Navarro always comes in very strong. She speaks like Gloria Arroyo and those Assumptionistas. Leah remains to be single because no man wants to be henpeck. Mrs. Defensor confronted Leah at the parking lot pointing finger at the latter’s face saying “Puneta…”. Well, the toughness of Leah disappeared at that moment.
I don’t blame Leah (or the whole BnW for that matter)for feeling that way against Erap. They are just being consistent with their convictions and I don’t find anything wrong with that. What bothers me, however, is that news (ABS-CBN) saying that as Erap made it up on the stage, they started booing at the sides.
They have made their point as far as Erap was concerned. They were party to Erap’s six-year incarceration and finally, his (questionable?) conviction of plunder. If Erap was pardoned, it wasn’t Erap’s problem. It’s Gloria’s.
The booing was uncalled for. They could have just stayed silent and allowed the “ex-convict ex-president” address his substantial number of followers who went there on his urging. They didn’t just hurt Erap, they hurt his followers as well. I am not an Erap fanboy or apologist, just an individual who is sensitive towards my colleagues and to those who respond to my group’s call for mass action.
Nope, Gloria doesn’t need to concoct more “patibong” in the future to ensure the oppositionists do not produce the UNITED critical mass of warm bodies. They just need to stoke the flames of animosity and contempt among her critics. We are doing it to ourselves anyway.
Gloria’s strategists who follow Sun Tzu know better not to distract the enemy when it is in the process of destroying itself.
For a change, why can’t “civil society” start acting “civilized”?

edd, I am familiar with San Pedro where my mom happens to live. There are relocation areas (in Langgam – which is a big community of urban poor and San Antonio – a garbage dump a la Smokey Mountain) in San Pedro that are organized and lean towards Bayan and Bayan Muna. These guys are transported to rallies in stinky dump trucks and given merienda money (P50-100) for the rally. Sometimes they pool their money to buy and cook their own food on the spot making them save a few pesos to take home.
I got that from the paraplegic man (2 deformed feet) I recognized who had been featured in the news and later I personally talked to at the big Ayala rally in July 2005 at the height of the Hello Garci scandal. I was looking for him last Friday but didn’t find him. I also didn’t see their huge banners with “Bayan – San Pedro” emblazoned they usually waved in the past. You may be right, the San Pedro contingent may have been blocked, but I’m not sure.
What I’m sure is that protesters were blocked by composite teams from Laguna Traffic Management Office, LTO flying squad, and SAF in Cabuyao aside from the usual checkpoint in Calamba, using defective trip tickets, driver’s licenses, vehicle registration papers (even driver attires!) or whathaveyou as an excuse to deny them entrance to the tollgates. Further, the announcement of the suspension of permits to carry firearms outside residence was also an excuse to stop and search even private vehicles entering SLEX.

Exactly why it is taking long to have these rallies succeed in removing the creep. God must be providing all the way for all these lies and deceits to be uncovered—no stone left unturned so to speak—so that the criminal and her accomplices can have no way to evade the law and escape punishment for their crimes.
Two or three witnesses should be enough to nail these creeps as a matter of fact. Unfortunately, the creep has made a mockery of justice in the Philippines, and agencies responsible for putting criminals like her to prison now controlled by her own criminal gang.
So what do you do about it? At least, as Tongue has pointed out, we can join the fun by protesting via cyberspace. Just make sure we’re hack-free!

The way I see it, the reaction of the B&W Movement is natural and very understandable. I don’t know anyone personally from B&W, but I agree with you, its time to patch things up. Erap may have deserved his fate but we were also misled. Past is past, Erap suffered the humiliation of being the first president to be convicted, and I believe the lawyers did a good job. Unfortunately, the one we put in as “transition” president (temporary) while we get the real mandate of the people – didn’t want to give up the throne. Now, it seems she wants permanent residence pa? patay!
I hope Erap and B&W will patch things up soon, let this be a new chapter in our history…

I went to all the trouble of bringing 2 vehicles to shuttle my family and neighbors to and from Ayala. I failed to enjoy the event because I had to look after the vans and had to watch from very far (had to tune in to the radio) in order to protect the cars from would-be vandals. The sad story is that when we reached home, my neighbors were heartbroken with their experience of the negative reactions some people had against their idol, Erap. They vow not to return there.
I can’t blame them, but though I can’t also blame the other side, civil society members are supposed to be the more educated, more civilized, and more understanding than the rest. I promised earlier not to “lead” the masa in my neighborhood in events like this and even told them if they want change, they must do it by themselves – no more free lunch, no free rides, no after-rally drinks.
That day, they did and all I provided was transpo. But things soured and before it turns ugly, I will let them cool their heels first.
Sad to say, we won’t be attending the March 8 rally as things stand. I think an apology is in order.

I wish similar occurrences will be avoided in the future. I don’t understand why they can’t allow politicians in rallies when their only hope is for a politician – Jojo Binay specifically – to allow them a strategic venue to accommodate such expensive affairs. I wonder why the groups are allergic of politicians. I understand that it is better to have ‘ordinary’ people taking the lead, but to be so biased against politicians is wrong.
I guess a lot of the mature politicians don’t mind being in the sidelines, i saw Sen. Noynoy Aquino, Mayor JV Ejercito, Rep. Antonino, Rep. Guingona and others just content being at the backstage during the big rally.

Now that the people have realized, finally that the Evil One is GMA, why then should be so biased against the political opposition when they were the ones who really were consistent in fighting the GMA? The reason why I keep on defending GMA is because our economy has never grown this much, and our democratic system is very illegitimate, such that in the event she’s ousted, the VP who was voted purely for his popularity with the masses, will take over. That’s simply too risky for me, I don’t want to take the chance. While you may have dealt with the problem of corruption, there’s a greater probability our economy will not grow.
