Sa report ng Inquirer, umaabot na sa P51 ang kilo ng bigas ng Mindanao. At jhindi lang presyo ng bigas ang tumataas. Pati na rin karne at ibang pagkain. Kung anim ang anak mo, paano mo mabubuhay ang mga yun sa minimum wage na P400 isang araw?
Kung sabagay hindi lang sa Mindanao ito nangyari ngunit Mindanao kasi ang tinatawag na “food basket” ng bansa dahil doon nanggagaling ang marami sa ating mga pagkain. Kaya isipin mo, kung mataas ang presyo ng pagkain sa lugar na dapat ay sagana ang pagkain, paano na lang sa mga lugar na hindi sagana?
Sa Digos City sa Davao del Sur, nagkaka-initan na raw ang ng ulo at kamuntik ng magsuntukan sa mga namimili sa outlet ng National Food Authority.
Nangyayari ito sa gitna ng linggo-linggo na pagtaas ng gasolina. Mula P50.67 hanggang P55.15 na bawat litro ang unleaded na gasolina at mula naman P42.91 hanggang P48 ang diesel.
Ang mga nakaka-usap ko na taxi driver, hindi na rin alam kung saang kamay ng Panginoon kukunin ang pangtustus sa pamilya at ang kinikita nila ay tamang-tama lang pambayad ng gasolina at boundary sa operator. Kung hindi naman sila magbi-biyahe, saan naman sila kukuha ng panggastos.
Nakakainis minsan na pagsakay mo ng taxi, kontratahin ka kaagad dahil hindi gagamitin ang metro. Ngunit naiintindihan ko na rin sa tindi ng hirap ng buhay. Sabi nga ng isang naka-usap ko, “Pakapalan na ng mukha dahil walang pang-tuition ang mga anak ko.”
Lumalabas itong balita tungkol sa patuloy na pagakyat ng presyo ng bigas samantalang noong isang linggo lang, pinagyayabang ni Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap na may sapat na supply ng bigas kaya raw stable na ang presyo.
Bilang solusyon sa problema, iminimungkahi ng mga opisyal ng Department of Agriculture sa Mindanao na magkaroon ng kontrol sa presyo at sa pag-distribute ng bigas. Pag-aralan nilang mabuti ito dahil baka mas malala pa ang mangyari. Kapag kinontrol ng pamahalaan ang pagbenta at presyo baka mawala na ang bigas sa palengke.
Ito na naman si Social Services Secretary Esperanza Cabral. Hindi pa nga naipatupad ang kanyang panukala ng special na ID para sa mahihirap na makakabili ng bigas, mayroon naman siyang pinap[alutang na P2 bilyon daw na subsidy para sa mahihirap sa kuryente. Doon daw kukunin sa bilyon-bilyon na kinu-kolekta ngayon ng pamahalaan sa VAT.
Habang tumataas kasi ang presyo ng gasolina, lumlaki ang nakukulekta ng pamahalaan sa VAT. Sa madaling salita, kumikita ang pamahalaan sa paghihirap ng sambayanan sa pagtaas ng gasolina.
Bakit hindi na lang alisin ang VAT?
Doon sa section ng tribune “Palace warned of chaos in Mindanao over rice crisis” ang opinion ni Legarda ay:

I watched the Herald Tribune’s interview with Gloria Dorobo that Anna posted here earlier. Amazing how the Dorobo can lie through her bucked teeth. Hindi tumitinag. It is the same the thing that is happening to, not only our country but it is global – the price of oil!!!!!! in our case its both the oil and price of high electricity.
The name of the speaker in that movie is dick dodge, who is also the chair of the power and industry committee handling oil and energy.
The problem is that, tha chair knows very much how to create money out of that committee.

Kung mapapansin ninyo ang mga generator sa labas ng mga bangko, McDo, Jollibee, at iba pang mga negosyo, puro generator namin yun, ang tatak FG Wilson. Mga 5,000 units lahat-lahat Metro Manila pa lang. Kami nga ang itinuturo ni Ernesto na nakinabang ng husto. Kasi naman bobo yung kumpanya nila, dinadaan sa koneksiyon hindi sa serbisyo at presyo.
Ganyan din ang ginagawa nila ngayon sa mga sinusubasta ng Napocor, pati na ang pag-takeover sa Meralco, koneksiyon, hindi serbisyo at presyo.
Kung sakaling mapatumba nila ang mga Lopez sa paggamit nila kay Winston Garcia, wala nang pag-asa ang Pilipinas. Walang aasahang serbisyo, yung presyong ibababa raw ni Winston, sa simula lang iyan. Tsk, tsk tsk.
Naniniwala na ba kayo sa sinabi kong si Garcia ay binibuild-up na Senator material kaya pinakawalang parang asong ulol ng Malakanyang? Ayun kasama sa listahan ng mga senatoriables ni Gloria!
