All evidences against Gloria Arroyo are included in the complaints filed by different concerened Filipino citizens, groups, organizations, etc..

One these evidences is the fertilizer scam. I hope the congressmen wake up and for once think of the welfare of the long suffering Filipino masses. Happy days are here again.

Malacanang distributed gifts to Bishops to make them not support the second impeachment.

AS long as Gloria and her cohorts are in Malacanang, they will continue to deceive the people and lead our country to destruction.

From the passage of Holy Bible, Hebrews 4:13 ” Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of HIM to whom we must give account”

It’s very clear that how those liars, cheaters, deceivers and stealers hide the truth. tulad ng mag-asawang nasa Malacanang at mga galamay nito.

    Let’s uncover the truth.

  3. Nothing is really hidden from God, and despite the hallucination and illusion of grandeur of Pandak that she is God’s annointed, we all know the truth of how she cheated and squandered public funds in the last election. One of these funds in fact are the monies paid for by OFWs all over the world.

There are a lot of them payees of these funds that are in fact not provided for by the agency that was originally entrusted with their OWWA fund that the Pandak transfered to the Health Department to fund her election campaign by using such money for making those health cards with her pictures to be distributed to the poor voters who outnumbered those who could afford to pay their health insurance and choose not to vote for her.

There was the case in fact of one OFW, a cargiver in Canada, who could not be flown back to Manila because of lack of funds.

Emilio, a blogger here, in fact had to provide the SOS to OWWA to facilitate transport of the body of the poor caregiver whom her family wanted to see ang give her proper burial.

Now, we hear of another scam that has been obviously committed with the Malacanang squatters that at least is being taken care of by concerned senators in the Senate, both administration and opposition senators for the Pandak to say that this is only an opposition’s show for a most appropriate and proper investigation. Hopefully, with the help of the US government, we may be able to see justice succeeding at last, and truth prevailing!

Thanks, Ellen, for providing the venue for us to share our thoughts and hearts for a better Philippines from across the seas. Ingat ka lang. I know this blog is carefully monitored. Nahuhuli sa sinasabi ng Malacanang as a matter of fact!

Of course, Malacanang and CBCP leadership denies any bribery occurred. Magsama kayo sa impierno!

  6. Hahaha! Nakakatawa itong latest entry mo Ellen.

  8. zenzennai zenzennai

  10. jorgie jorgie

alitaptap, correction lang po: Fat Guy Mike did not pay $10,000 for his hotel suite in Las Vegas…it’s $20,000 a night. The First Gentleman might get mad if he reads it.

  11. juanmapagpalaya juanmapagpalaya

CBCP stands for Corrupt Bishop for Criminal Practices!

In mass today, I couldn’t help but shed a tear…Dahil, nawala ang respeto ko sa mga obispo na tumanggap ng “envelope”, I didn’t place money in the offertory, and instead will give the money to the “Alms for the Poor” box tutal if the priests need money, I thought, they can go to GMA. Parang Judas sold Christ for pieces of silver! Their statement was tainted. Satanas nga si GMA!

However, I will continue to go to church because that is God’s house.

    From Ricky Carandang’s blog:
    Notes from the CBCP Plenary
The following is the full unedited text of a letter that was circulated by a bishop during last week’s CBCP plenary. Taken in contrast with the actions of Bishop Deogracias Yniguez who signed the impeachment complaint, this letter shows you the breadth of opinion among the clergy on what they call the burning issues of the day.
THE CASE OF PRESIDENT GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO

Until now, the sonorous clamor for the resignation of Mrs. Arroyo is still heard. The opposition strongly disbelieve her words that she had won the May 2004 presidential election—fair and square. If we do believe in her sincerity, then President Arroyo is properly and legitimately elected to the highest position in the land.

The upbringing os Mrs. Arroyo is Catholic and a really devout Catholic. However, many people, espcially the opposition and those who are hungry for prestige and power that the presidency entails, seem incredulous on her. They never stop to throw harsh and cruel words to her. These people always aver that she fraudulently achieved her victory. Nevertheless no one is guilty unless his guilt has been proven.

On the other hand, the oppositionists aver that Mrs. Arroyo is a usurper and she is a false president. However, “once a usurper has actually obtained firm control of power in te state, the legitimate authority previously in control is not allowed to resort to violent measure to regain power unless there is a well-founded hope of success and true furtherance of the common good. The mere personal or ancestral claims to authority must ultimately cede to considerations of the welfare of the people as a whole. The common goos–in its broadest aspects–is also the decisive factor, the standard by which te people themselves should judge whether to accept the regime of the usurper or not.” (Pg.150, the Law of Christ, Bernard Haring, C,SS,R)

    Analysis-

    a) Mrs. Arroyo has a firm control of power in the State.

    b) There is no well-founded hope of success to take power. The impeachment of Mrs. Arroyo failed by less number of representatives, namely 51 signatures only.

    c) Anyone, ERAP, Mrs. Cory, representative Francis Escudero, Bishop Villanueva should not resort to power by impeachment or violent measure anymore

    d) Therefore all citizens, including the oppositionists, the religious, especially the bishops, should help for the progress of the nation.

In the Bible there is a story about twin brothers — Esau and Jacob. Both are interested of their birthright. Only one will be blessed by the father. The blessing will have benefits, among them te nations serve him and peoples bow down before him, etc.

Today therefore there is only one nation, namely Israel. the other place is that of the Palestineans. These two keep on fighting with each other. That was Jacob whose name was changed by God to Israel. The descendants of Esau are the Palestinians.

    OPINION

    Page two

The biblical story of Esau and jacob is a vividly clear example of deception and fraud. But, in spite of that, Jacob was forgiven by God, by giving him plenty of descendants who will be numerous as the specks of dust in the earth (Gen. 28:13-15). If God was able to forgive the deceit and fraud act of Jacob, then why cannot we do the same as to President Arroyo who had said “I am sorry” on television? Why can the opposition and the presidential wannabes not extend the same gesture of forgiveness to Mrs. Arroyo? “He who has no sin cast the first stone?”

Our nation has suffered so much. President Arroyo has suffered much as well because of rallies, coups, destabilization plots, impeachment, etc. All these political upheavals and protest actions are certainly not the will of God. But Mrs. Arroyo is able to cope up with all these according to the will of God. it is crystal clear that the divine Hands are guiding, protecting, and enlightening her formidable political skills. She is doing well in her governance, and it is a pity to lose her. I firmly believe, as a bishop, that Mrs. Arroyo, despite the allegations against her, haswisely responded to to each unique stage of these crises in God’s will. Let us remember what St. Paul has written in his letter to the Romans: ” Everyone must obey state authoritiesbecause no authority exists without God’s permission, and the existing authorities have been put there by God. Whoever opposes the existing authority opposes what God has ordered; and anyone who does so will bring judgement on himself. For rulers are not to be feared by those who do good, but by those who do evil…then do what is good and he will praise you, because he is God’s servant working for your own good. But if you do evil, then be afraid of him because his power to punish is real. He is God’s servant and carries out God’s punishment on those who do evil. For this reason you must obey authorities–not just because of God’s punishment, but also as a matter of conscience” (of Romans 13:1-7)

Chabeli, imagine if many others do the same thing like you did. They now don’t give their offerings to the church and instead give them directly to the poor. The church (Catholic Church) shall be left with these options: 1. Demand that the government increase the church’s share of Pagcor proceeds. 2. Take it easy on jueteng since the gambling lords can donate to the church which the bishops and even the late Cardinal Sin admitted they’re accepting donations from these gambling lords. 3. Appeal to Vatican for financial support. After all, the bulk of the money collected are remitted to the Vatican anyway. 4. The bishops can come up with more future pastoral letters to raise funds inasmuch as this government never runs out of money. The government can always find a way to get money to bribe.

What about the faithfuls who are now dismayed with these bishops? What are their options? Very little. 1. Stick to the church and keep attending mass like what Chabeli does and don’t give offerings. 2. Leave the church and join other religious groups (like LDS?).

  18. penoyko penoyko

sa mga obispong tumanggap ng envelope na may kalakip na PERA and DECIDED to keep it, may peace be with them, now and forever. amen

  19. From now on, I have decided NOT to put anything
in the “basket” for the offerings…..tutal
    Obispo, eh!

But I will continue to pray on my own para maliwanagan ang mga “Prinsipe ng Simbahan” kasama na si ate glue & kamag-anak. Amen.

Sa mga Obispo: CHEAP n’yo, noh!!

  20. Armand,

No wonder pinatatalsik iyan kung saan-saan. OK?

  21. Dominique Dominique

God writes straight with crooked lines.
This is being proven true once again in the case of the CBCP. We were disheartened by their statement on the impeachment. But with the expose on their having received money from Malacañang, their credibility is now down to below zero. They are shit. No better than Gloria Arroyo who is the super shit.

Gloria and their allies are destroying each other. They don’t need us.

Left that church long, long time ago.

Sabi nga ni Kristo, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. (Matt.7:15) “And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. • • •For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.” (Matt. 24: 11, 24)

I was baptized Catholic. I even became a sacristan, dreamt of becoming a priest, and was a seminarian on my first year high school. I was even a cooperator for Opus Dei. A couple of years back, I realized SOMETHING. Boy, I think I am right!

  25. Ellen,

Off topic, just read your latest article which got me giggling coz I misread position and thought the word was “prison”… and had to go back to the phrase.

You wrote, “Nobody can be sure if by that time, the Arroyos would still be in a position to protect him.” I read “Nobody can be sure if by that time, the Arroyos would still be in prison to…”

My subconcious has already put this dastardly couple in prison along with their plunderer Joc-Joc… They are so hateful that no prison is hard enough to punish them for what they’ve done and are doing to the Filipino nation.

They deserve to be hanged from the highest lamp post or thrown to an erupting volcano.

  26. jorgie jorgie

Tigilan na natin itong mga patama…let’s now go back to the issue of the day.

  27. Chabeli Chabeli

Anna de Brux, indeed your “subconcious has already put this dastardly couple in prison.” At this point, I think what we need is nothing short of a MIRACLE. What we have left is the SENATE–not wanting to be too cynical, yet, for how long will the SENATE be able to hang on? It seems they could be our last bastion of HOPE. Sadly, after that, there doesn’t seem anymore avenues for the people to seek the TRUTH…

  28. jorgie jorgie

lakay, welcome to the fold if you have finally left the Catholic Church. May I know which group you now belong? Many may be interested to join you there. Another reader has already been advertising his church in this blog for quite sometime now. But do you know that it’s basically one’s relationship with God; and that many of these religious groups are like money making establishments? Tell me of a group that doesn’t require and teach donation and offering?

  29. Chabeli,

I agree with you. How extraordinary that we are now forced to search, dig and cling to even the tiniest of glimmers of hope.

Our own bishops are waylaying our hope. Their equivocal stand is so disheartening… where else or who else can poor people turn to when even the bastion of right is being wronged by these dastardly people in Malacanang before our very eyes?

As you say, the Senate seems to be the last bastion of that tiny glimmer of hope to arrest this descent to inferno.

The Filipino are so resilient – they accept, accept and still accept this horrid couple’s non-stop aggression on their dignity. They get slapped all the time yet they keep turning back their cheeks for more of the same.

There’s a point in time when we have to stop this exerciseand to put this couple and their minions in shackles, thrown in a dungeon to rot.

I’m afraid, the Filipino people must create their own miracle because no saint will intercede for the Filipino people; not even God will do anything for the Filipinos if they don’t help themselves…

  30. jorgie jorgie

  31. Chabeli Chabeli

    Anna de Brux,

You said it very well…Indeed, God helps those who help themselves. You are right, “the Filipino people must create their own miracle because no saint will intercede for the Filipino people; not even God will do anything for the Filipinos if they don’t help themselves…”

“The way is in ours. The time is in God’s.” Maybe we’re just impatient…

After six years of abuse and corruption, I don’t think the Filipino people are impatient. The question is better asked: Why does God allow all these things to happen? It has been long prophesied and written in the Bible. When all these things (crimes, poverty, calamaties) are happening, Jesus is almost at the door. And there’s no perfect justice on earth. Justice can be attained only on the day of judgment when we come face to face with the Lord.
In the meantime, every religion and church teaches that we must do away with evil. Satan must not be allowed to reign and control us. Since the Monkey Queen in the Palace is the modern representative of the devil, she must be eliminated before more people fall as victims. How to eliminate her is something all freedom loving and truth seekers must find out…

  33. Armand Rubio Armand Rubio

What the CBCP did was a rotten act of simony inherited by the church from the Friars of old. I am wondering where are the real properties amassed during that time. Have these been sold or inherited by the local church? Kasi mayroon akong alam na pagaari ng mga Jesuits sa Zambales with a land area of 500 has. or more. Zambales lang yan ha.

  34. Jorgie,

I believe we, the Filipino human species, are allowing “all these things to happen”.

It isn’t quite right to sort of blame God for the wrong and evil things which Gloria and her dambuhalang husband and their cronies commit because we allow them to commit them – the evil things they do shouldn’t be allowed to happen in the first place; we Filipinos must take our destiny in our hands.
It is not God who allows Gloria and her disciples of evil to continue wronging us but it is us the people who allow her and her minons to wrong us – we must NOT accept a wrong committed by anyone in Malacanang nor by anybody anywhere because a wrong is wrong no matter who says or does it.

  35. Phil Cruz Phil Cruz

I, too, at times feel down in the dumps. Especially when the people you look up to to help carry the fight let you down in this great battle to rid the country of a virus so malignant and evil.

The same feeling envelopes me when Gloria and her cabals win those little battles of theirs that keep them in power just a wee bit longer than expected. I feel anger at the injustice of it all. Sometimes one is almost tempted to just give up and say “The hell with it. Let the others fight the battle for me. I’m tired of it all.”

But the one thing that gives me hope is that even Marcos was toppled. We know not how or when but this virus will be toppled and turned on its head – the constitutional or unconstitutional way. It’s really this Administration’s choice.

The Filipino people is one of the nicest peoples on the face of this earth. Kind, gentle, caring, patient, courteous, respectful, spiritual. It doesn’t take much to make the Filipino smile. Truly beautiful human beings.

But abused – by their own government, by the very people they have trusted and put into office. The Filipinos don’t deserve this. No, not at all.

The battle must be fought. In whatever battle front this Administration wants to fight it.

  36. jorgie jorgie

Correct ka diyan, Manong Armand. Without offense to the church where I was raised and came to know, the church is the biggest landgrabber of all. And worse, the church is tax exempt pa. Not only that, groups like El Shaddai was even able to get housing loans from the government. One may ask where all the money and funds go kung ganoon kayaman ang simbahan. Part of it or I shall say the bulk of it are spent in court settlement to help erring priests. In the US, the Catholic Church already spent millions of dollars paying off the courts and victims as a result of the priests’ sex cases.

  37. You said it Anna, Filipinos should not blame God for Pandak because it was not God who chose her but she and her friends, a lot of whom are now in fact literally gnashing their teeth for helping her, put her there at the palace by the murky river, and the CBCP now stamping her reign as legitimate after being wined and dined and getting some 15,000 to 30,000 pesos (less than 300 dollars in the present black market) in bribe!

Still, with the help of the Lord above they can remove this Pandak even just to save some young kids, ages 13-17, from being corrupted in their youth with this pimp conditioning their minds that their only hope of ever experiencing a life of plenty is to go overseas, and do the kind of jobs–dirty, dangerous and difficult– natives of the countries they go to would not want to do.

I understand that with the help of recruiters, DoLE is sponsoring a free 6-month training called “Junior Caregiver Course, and inviting impoverished kids in the rural areas especially for this course that is actually a training more in domestic helping than real caregiving of the aged and the sick that will require some medical training.

There we go again…”Dito sa Japan, magaling ang Japan, mahusay ang mga Hapon…”.

  39. Chabeli,

Thanks for visiting my site. One thing I can say is never lose faith. Faith is what keeps us going. To lose faith is to give up on everything you believe in. I too am a dreamer, I dreamt of a country proud and free. No one can stop me from making my dream a reality. I hope regardless of what some bishops did, there are those who continue to fight for righteousness. Believe in the instead. We must never fall into the trap like the others who lump the good with the bad. We must learn to discern and see what is right and wrong.

I just want to make sure that there are two things we are tackling here- one is the local Catholic Church and the other the Catholic Religion. I have no quarrel with Catholic religion. I was born, baptized, and raised a Roman Catholic. I am going to die a Roman Catholic. It is the local church and its practices mostly I am not totally in favor of. Pera, pera, pera. Nakasisilaw!! Pati mga Pari nasilaw na rin.

  42. Hi Schumey,

I inadvertently deleted your e-mail together with the rest and haven’t got your personal e-mail addy so allow me (even if publicly) to thank you for your July 14th best wishes…I appreciated them greatly.

  43. Armand,

I totally second your motion. I’ve been at odds with people because they lump both in the same basket.

    Thanks for pointing that out…

  44. vic vic

The Catholic Church, other the specific members who abuse the power and their connection to the Church is still a very respected Institution and has many other things to offer its flocks and the General Public other than Religion and Belief. Dito sa Canada (here I go Jorgie) The Catholic Schools (ontario) which are now covered like any public school, offer alternative Education for students of Religious Families without paying school fees. It also have shelter houses for “street people” or abused member of society, and most often used as sanctuary of those who are subject from government deportation. I, myself don’t go to church, but my family member are religious bunch. So any religious institution who knows its place in a Free and Democratic Society is always an integral part of its existence. One thing, I may at this moment in time can say that Corruption as we know it occuring in the Philippines, doesn’t spare anyone, even the the “Godly” ones.

  45. Dito sa France (O ano Jorgie, ako rin, here I go), ang mga obispo ay hindi kasing powerful ng mga obsipong Pilipino…

  46. Armand:

You should ask why the CBCP suddenly seemed to have turned coats! Before they were wined and dined, and when that priest of Caloocan, Yniquez, submitted his recommendation for impeachment of the Pandak, the CBCP looked furious as the Panda complaint, and I thought it was for real. But lo and behold, upon the return of the Pandak, she immediately called for a meeting with the bigshots of the CBCP with wining and dining at the palace by the murky river.

I was hoping they would decline after all those statements published in Tribune and Malaya (I don’t read the others because it would be a waste of time) but when they did, I expected a turn-coat because frankly, I don’t trust these priests, who are not as immuned to sin as you and me as a matter of fact but are confident enough that they alone would go straight to Heaven, and also because we should know by now that attendees to special dinners at the palace paid with public funds go home each with a beso-beso and a fat envelope!

As they say in Tagalog, “Mga walang bayag!” Baka wala na nga gaya noong isang bakla dito! 😛

  47. jorgie jorgie

But what is religion, Armand? How do you define it? Isn’t it “reconciling with God our Creator”?

I personally don’t see any difference between the Catholic Church and Catholic religion. For the mainstream Protestants, church to them is a body of Christians. For some other groups like INC, LDS and even Roman Catholic Church…they claim to be the true church that has the right to salvation. I think it’s about the doctrines and teachings which you correctly emphasized, Armand.

Nevertheless, if you have doubts and are against some of the Catholic teachings and practices, why remain in the Catholic Church? You aren’t keeping your membership just for the sake of being a member, are you? Think about this for a moment…Let’s say you don’t believe in the worship of graven images and saints; confession to priests, law of celibacy, infant baptism and many others…how can you still remain without participating in such practices? Pardon me, I think you’re only deceiving yourself. I won’t go further because this kind of discussion is quite sensitive. I hope I’m as assertive as someone here who only believes in his adopted country and religion…

  48. Ellen,

Off topic again but I find the thoughts of Isagani Cruz remarkably realistic and is quite spot on…

In his column “SEPARATE OPINION”, former Justice Isagani Cruz tackles the Pinoy penchant for everything American.

Cruz describes Pinoys who declare an all out love at all cost for everything American are “Just a pale copy”.

He starts his column with “THE United States physically subdued us in 1898 and made our country its colony until 1946. In the process, it developed in us a mammoth inferiority complex that made our people idolize practically everything American.”

My brother, Paquito, was one of those few who refused to be American no matter what and returned to the Philippines to raise his family and be Filipinos whatever the odds.

  49. Baka lalo kang madismaya,Vic, pag nalaman mo ang nangyari sa isang paring ipinalipat sa Ethiopia dahil malapit siya kay Erap, and this I found out from a Filipino nun in Japan!

This priest actually is in charge of an institution helping the outpatient of Tala. He was removed from that institution when it started making money from the handicrafts being made by the patients being rehabilitated there. Guess sino ang nagpapalakad noon ngayon? You bet, kaibigan ni Pandak!

I understand that the said priest was sent to Ethiopia on the recommendation of the CBCP na inutusan ni Pandak. 😛

  50. jorgie jorgie

CBCP is operating like a Mafia. The Vatican itself is in cahoot with the Italian Mafia. That explains why it is untouchable and surrounded by scandals for centuries.

  51. By the way, itong convenor ng MAADYAS MOVEMENT (sounds like MADAYA in the plural form) dapat batukan talaga…

Read what his idiotic movement says:

“”We have carried all these years all the sad and mocking labels other people placed above our heads – a country of domestic helpers, the white man’s burden, the sick man of Asia, and so on and so forth. Yet we seem to have forgotten that we remain as the Pearl of the Orient Seas, the First Republic in Asia and the country of people with rich, proud and noble origin who have won their freedom from tyranny in the first non-violent revolution in 1986.”

” We believe that we have all what it takes to be a strong, united and proud nation once again. We have the means, the strength and the desire to use the heights of our hopes and the core of our ideals for the rejuvenation of our country’s strength and rebuilding our pride as a nation.”

This pendejo which is Mike Defensor must be told that we cannot be a proud nation until the likes of cheats, thieves, liars like his boss and her husband are not behind bars yet. We will not have what it takes to be a united nation until we have amaterur serial kidnappers like himself.

We cannot be the pear of the orient seas until we get rid of the swines in Malacanang.

Jesli is just like Bansot (I mean not really in height but he’s not that tall either). Show him the color of money, PASOK IYAN MASKI SA BUTAS NG KARAYOM…

Lapus is Pandak’s cabalen and so is the SC Cheap Justice Panganiban. If we make an account of how many cabalens in this midget’s government, we would find out there’s quite a number. Why? You can ask Pandak why.

  56. I was just glossing over the Ellen’s other article in this blog which amassed 140 comments or so…

My eye caught the comment of Jorgie when he said that Dubya did not invite Bansot to his (Dubya’s) ranch coz he has no bansot horse, not even a donkey and that Gloria can’t ride those big but normal sized horses.

Hahahah!
    Hahahah!

  57. Anna, Yuko,

We discussed this a few blogs ago in MLQ3. Its just another Rah-Rah group of the pretender to somehow sway its critics into thinking its pushing for patriotism. But discerning minds won’t be easily baited into biting this one. Its just one way of cultivating a mindset of the people to lure them away from the issues confronting the administration. Another example of cover-up. They would like the people to let bygones be bygones and just move on.

    *You’re welcome Anna.

  58. Yuko, yes. Lapus has accepted the position of education secretary. Let’s pray for our teachers and students. It’s another step down the road to destruction of our education system.

He showed arrogance in his reaction to members of Dep-ed employees and teachers protesting his appointment. He dismissed them as “just a small group.” What about the merits of their complaints. Ano ba yan, padamihan ng miyembro? Palakasan ng boses?

  59. Schumey, Anna, we should watch out for the activities that, that madyaas confederacy would be undertaking. It looks like a sinister group. Dubious from the very beginning.

  60. Phil, re your sharing:”

I, too, at times feel down in the dumps. Especially when the people you look up to to help carry the fight let you down in this great battle to rid the country of a virus so malignant and evil.”

Let me share with you a conversation I had with perennial activist, Linggoy Alcuaz, and another member of the ambivalent civil society. This civil society guy was analysing things about arroyo being a cheat and a liar but she is smart and wily while the opposition is disunited and stupid, etc. etc. He said, “I’m tired. I don’t want to have anything to do with it anymore.”

Linggoy replied, “The problem with you, is you fight to win. In my case, I fight for what i believe in.”

I share Linggoy’s stand. I believe in truth and justice and I fight for that. If I win, thank you. If not, I will still uphold those beliefs because I believe those are the foundations of our moral existence. Without those, what kind of life would we be living?

  61. Ellen,

Another Bagong Lipunan perhaps? Can you see the similarities? Its not just a mere copycat but an improved version. Couple it with Sigaw ng Bayan, the only missing ingredient is a Declaration of Martial Law. Nakaka-kilabot ito.

  62. jorgie jorgie

Anna, thanks for appreciating my joke. Ikaw lang yata ang tumawa eh. Bansot is so used to riding on elephant (Mike) that she won’t be satisfied riding on a “kambing” at Dubya’s Ranch.

Regarding Lapus’ appointment as Education Secretary, that’s a position Senator Angara was eagerly looking forward to get which Bansot refused. Sorry for Angara ’cause I know from my political sources that he was used by bansot many times in the past to make gulo in the opposition. Ngayon basa na si Angara…nowhere to go. No one trusts him anymore. Same with balimbing Miriam Santiago who’s itching for the DFA position. Bansot doesn’t trust Miriam that much too. Miriam for all her craziness is still loyal and kind to Erap. Magkumpare eh…

  63. Armand Rubio Armand Rubio

Ito ang pagkakalam ko. A religion is a particular system of faith and worship. Whereas, a church is a hierarchy of clergy of a religious organization, like the Roman Catholic organization in the Philippines that we are talking about.

  64. jorgie jorgie

Ellen, there are indeed so many similarities between the time of Marcos and today under this bansot’s regime. This space would not be enough to enumerate each similarity. All I can say is that bansot has learned Marcos’ mistakes and she’s perfecting what Marcos did. Many anti-Marcos personalities now concede that Marcos was kinder and more compassionate than this bansot. Marcos looks like peanut and a chicken compared to this bansot. You know that Ellen…you’ve been there before.

Huwag ka ng umasa sa ma bishops para kontrahin ang export of children/teenagers as caregivers. They will just encourage it. They will just quote from the Bible, “Blessed are those who suffer ” or something like that in the Beatitudes. For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Sasabihin sa atin, okay lang for you to be persecuted by Gloria because you will be earning your ticket to heaven.

That’s not how I view God and his teachings. The God I know does not encourage crime.

  68. jorgie jorgie

Dominique, what you meant to say was “Blessed are the poor for the kingdom is theirs”. It’s this kind of teaching that sometimes makes people lazy and just depend entirely on God. It’s this kind of teaching that encourages people to remain poor.

Never in our history have our people and children been abused like today. This Malacanang squatter’s only means of export are the OFWs. Our country used to be on top economically and was the largest exporter in Asia. And now….

Schumey, it is my pleasure to visit your site. Thank you, too, for your words of encouragement.

I share the same views of Armand. I am not fighting or against the institution (i.e., Roman Catholic Church), I am against those who weaken it.

Nevertheless, it is words of hope and encouragement that makes one continue with the struggle…indeed, we must not “fight to win…” but fight for what we believe in.

I share your sentiments. I, too, fight for what I believe and don’t let anyone’s intrigue bother me at all!

FYI, I led the movement that stopped the sales of Philippine properties in Japan, particularly the Roppongi property, noong panahon ni Cory.

Ngayon mas grabe! We are actually on the watch out for the hocus-focus operation regarding the plan to dispose of all the properties (patrimonies) in Japan–there are five of them–the Pandak actually tried to sell in 2003 to fund her election campaign!

As the old adage says, “Daig ng matiyaga ang masipag!”

    Sagot ko:

You bet! These kids in the rural areas are being lured to attend this so-called “Junior Caregiver Course” for children ages 13 to 17.

If you are in the Philippines, you may try advocating with DAWN Philippines that is watching this caregiver thing in lieu of the deployment of the Japayuki that is now banned in Japan.

The children are being told that they would be given certificates and licenses to qualify for caregiving jobs in Japan, French speaking Canada, and the Middle East, particularly in Lebanon that unfortunately is now at war with Israel, and the 30,000 or more Filipinos there are being stranded because their escape routes have been bombed and there is no way out!!!

  75. Now, as for the CBCP stopping this deployment of paslit caregivers, I doubt!

I doubt if they will stop this diaspora na pinagkakakitahan din nila somehow!

Yes, “marami” ngang similarities on the way this present “regime” is running our “beloved” Inang Bayan, on the way Marcos’ regime “handled” it’s governance. Kaya nasa “pwesto” niya si Gloria, dahil nga HINDI KATANGGAP-TANGGAP sa “ating mga PILIPINO” ang “salitang” MILITARY JUNTA o “MILITARY GOVERNMENT”, kaya meron tayong “nakikitang” Gloria at Noli sa ating mga harapan…pero “directly behind them” and “hidden from view” are the “MEN IN UNIFORM” that are “holding and pulling their strings”. Believe me my friends…not until “REAL REBELLIOUS” elements of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, backing a GREAT MOB of “COMMON PEOPLE” that will try and “topple” this present OPRESSIVE REGIME with a “REAL” cou’p (hindi iyong “ku-ku-han” lang)…be it BLOODY if it may, so that the next would be “leader” would really think “tenfolds” bago “sundan ang yapak sa kawalnghiyaan” ng mga nauna sa kaniya, dahil sa kaniyang isipan ay iba na PALA NGAYON sa PILIPINAS….PINAPATAY NA ANG MGA “TIWALI AT GAGONG” PINUNO. 77. Schumey, All:

A friend sent an email on the column of De Quiroz on the CBCP bishops na nabayaran, and I quote, THAT WAS A MIND-BOGGLING STATEMENT Archbishop Ramon Arguelles said last week to justify the decision of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines not to back the impeachment bid against Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. (“Of course, GMA cheated. But even if she cheated, clearly she won the elections. Perhaps not by one million votes but by several hundred thousand.”)

“Arguelles amplified on that point: “Lahat naman nandaya, e. Natalo lang ’yung iba sa dayaan.” (“Everyone cheated anyway. Some people just lost in the cheating.”)”

Schocking! Is that it?

Hear what this DOJ Sec. siRAULo Gonzalez said. He said those who refused to receive the envelopes have malicious minds. That means he’s saying those who received the money have clean minds?

  79. goldenlion goldenlion

Simple lang, bishop Maasin, because gloria’s presidency is in question, she is involved in too many graft and corruptions, human rights violations, and the timing of giving financial and food support to the parishes is not good. I guess we should know first the truth before we entertain her.

Nagtatanga-tangahna ba ang bishop na iyan? Sus, padre mia!!!
Me palaba-labas pa kayo ng pastoral letter saying you will continue to search for the truth, tapos tatanggap kayo ng pera sa inaakusahan nyo?

  81. jorgie jorgie

Sus, ano man palusot halata din sila.

“never touch hot money” Man of Wisdom knew that. But BigMan Devil knew where to put the money so Obispo’s could actually touch it & that’s it, “BINGO!” its an Ultra Hell Powdered Marked Moneyyyyyyyy!

Besides, if it was 1-million, Obispo’s maaring mapaso & tossed it on air! malaking pera mawawala at malinis na maibulsa sa office ni Valdes at nino man.

  85. It’s worse than originally thought

    From the CBCP’s pastoral statement.

    24. Impeachment.

We wish to make the CBCP position clear and unambiguous on the present impeachment plans:

24.1. We are undoubtedly for the search for truth. Therefore, in all sincerity we respect the position of individuals or groups that wish to continue using the impeachment process to arrive at the truth.

24.2. But as Bishops reflecting and acting together as a body in plenary assembly, in the light of previous circumstances, we are not inclined at the present moment to favor the impeachment process as the means for establishing the truth. For unless the process and its rules as well as the mindsets of all participating parties, pro and con, are guided by no other motive than genuine concern for the common good, impeachment will once again serve as an unproductive political exercise, dismaying every citizen, and deepening the citizen’s negative perception of politicians, left, right and center.

And that is what being bishops are about. That is what being men of the Lord is all about. But the majority of our bishops whose business it is to advocate and insist that morality is the North Star of all private and public acts, would now refuse “to favor” the legally-sanctioned way of discovering the truth. It qualifies the process and the mindsets of those who participate in the process, saying that discovering the truth “must be guided by no other motive than the common good”.

But is not truth an end to itself? Are our bishops saying that falsehood can ever be “for the common good”, and that truth, because it is ugly, can be justifiably hidden by a “concern for the common good”? That is not what catechism lessons or Thomas Aquinas or even the Holy Bible taught us.

Have not our lord bishops, in their collective contemplation, realized that when they qualify the search for truth in terms of whether or not it is productive or “unproductive”, or whether or not it “dismays every citizen”, or whether or not it “deepens the negative perception of politicians, left, right or center”, they stray from their mandate of morality and jump into the realm of pure politics?

Oo nga eh. It’s as if the CBCP doesn’t want the truth to come out or something.

  86. Despalinghado talaga ang argument ni Bishop Arguelles. That’s also the argument of Solita Monsod. Kahit nandya raw si Gloria, nanalo naman.

Granting, even if it’s not true, that nanalo siya kahit nandaya. She committed a crime. She still has no right to be president. If you allow a criminal to be president, then you should not punish anybody for creating a crime. What kind of society is that?

Having seen the figures of 2004 election, i believe that she did not win. She is a “bogus president” as Gen. Danny Lim said.

  87. Ellen,

    Re: CBCP

With your permission, am re-posting here a comment I posted a few days ago in MLQ3’s blog re CBCP.

I’ve always been opposed to a congregation or an association of bishops in the country, Catholics or not, taking a strong stand on issues that are completely political in nature but only to say nothing. We certainly don’t want a repeat of what Cardinal Sin had done who said many things but failed miserably in the end to do the right thing.

I would however, support any member of the Catholic clergy on an individual basis like Archbishop Cruz and that other Bishop who filed an impeachment complaint.

They do it on their own as citizens of the Republic of the Philippines. That they happen to be men in holy robes is incidental and not the reason.

To me, when an individual ‘distabilizer’ cleric (that’s what Gloria calls those who oppose her so I presume she says the same of individual clerics who don’t believe her lies), cleric say or does something to expose Gloria and her government’s lies as his conscience dictates (and not as the CBCP so dictates), he must be encouraged and supported.

So, I say, never mind the CBCP.

For quite some time now, the CBCP has managed to put the imprimatur of legitimacy on Gloria’s illegitimate mandate by their organized, well-crafted “eloquent silence” (what an oxymoron) and done more to confuse the issues rather than clarify them… I’d rather they just continued “praying” for the nation and its people instead of holding press conferences to be heard while they say nothing.

My stand is simple: I am not interested in what CBCP as a union or organization of dukes, princes, counts, vicounts, etc. of the Philippine catholic church and their assistant clerics have to say but I will be interested to hear what its individual members say and do.

(My non-belief or support for the CBCP has not, in any way, altered my faith in God nor my support for the REAL Iglesia Apostolica Catolica.)

  89. Ellen,

    Re Jesli Lapus:

Jesli, who was president of Land Bank and Angie Reyes are extremely close (they went to AIM together).

In 1998, a couple of days after Angie was appointed by Erap his Chief of Staff AFP replacing General J Nazareno, Jesli who was then a second termer in Congress, (1st or second termer can’t remember anymore)already used to accompany Angie to all his sorties and meetings with foreign defence companies, attending dinners in 5 star hotels with foreigners and acted as the “parlay” man for Angie.

This is the reason I don’t trust Jesli.

  90. Anna,

Can you post similar comment as the above in the egroup where Lesli is a member? I have already stated my feelings for his new appointment there, and I am actually waiting for his reaction.

Senator Pimentel himself has criticized Lesli for accepting this appointment that his being a topnotched accountant is not enough qualification for the position of EdSec. What they need there is someone with extremely high standard of morality and concern for higher standard of education, not to produce future export commodities as the Pandak wants all Filipinos to be!

Unfortunately, one who has such high standard of morality definitely cannot stomach working for and with the immoral Pandak!

1998 was Lesli’s first term as Congressman of his town. It’s his second term, and I understand that he won the seat because there was no one to challenge him with or without financial help from the Pandak.

  91. Although we cannot question a “president’s” appointing power, we could question the qualification of the one being appointed. Unfortunately, these appointees cozy up to the CA to get a favorable vote. What happens after the confirmation, that’s when things usually goes wrong.

  92. lakay lakay

Jorgie: You said “Tell me of a group that doesn’t require and teach donation and offering…”. Exactly, I can’t find one. If you do, tell me so I can join. You might say that I am at a crossroad. Thanks for responding.

  93. Anna:

I remember also that Jesli is a lurker at the OFW-Vote group. He was very active in that group as a matter of fact together with the son of Senator Biazon who is now a Congressman.

  94. Ellen,

Could Arguelles, Monsod and Austero belong to a certain sct or cult? They seem to have the same stand and assertions.

  95. Schumey,

Perhaps to the Couples for Christ movement.

Many of the members of the civil society belong to that society.

To tell you honestly, I consider Solita Monsod and austere Austero fools – nothing more, nothing less.

They may hoodwink people into believing that they are anti-Gloria or ambivalent at best, to me they are Gloria’s pawns through and through.

It is for this reason that I am having serious second thoughts about One Voice (although austere Austero is apparently not a part of it but Solita’s husband is).

  96. Here’s what Senator Pimentel said about Jesli’s appointment as EdSec:

Reacting to reports that Tarlac Rep. Jesli Lapus is the incoming secretary of education, Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel Jr. (PDP-Laban) today said if he were in his (Lapus’) shoes, he would rather stay in Congress.

In a statement, Pimentel said: “Jesli Lapus is a good choice for the Secretary of Education. The sad thing is that he will serve under a rotten administration whose thrusts in government appear to be dictated by corrupt money considerations.”

He said Lapus has had a fairly good record as a bureaucrat. He is chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means and before being elected congressman, served as president of Land Bank of the Philippines.

“Unfortunately, considering the very nature of Cabinet positions, his serving a fake president will inevitably tarnish his otherwise good record of public service,” Pimentel said.

“If I’d have my druthers, I would ask Jesli to serve out his term in Congress and run for another public office, maybe, for senator in the 2007 elections.”

  97. Schumey:

I asked you the other day why San Juan looked so gloomy at mangiyak-ngiyak sa pagsabi niyang babalik na siyang maging ass-licker ni Pandak.

This reminds me of a time when a Filipino criminal I was interpreting for in a police investigation threatened to look for my family and take his revenge on them against me if I would not help set him free. Gusto mo silang patayin? E di patayin mo kung kaya mo?” What he did not know is that I don’t have a family in the Philippines but in the USA!

  98. Yuko,

    On Lt San Juan:

I’ve always been perplexed by San Juan starting from his capture so that when commenters said how pitiful a sight he presented, I waved them off, saying, San Juan can deal with that -I did not have any feeling of pity for him. At the back of my mind, there was something bothering me.

Then his his turnaround jolted me. I could very well believe that he was mentally tortured to do so and perhaps in the process, was pressured to turn in his collegues.

However, if there is at all any truth to the news that he linked to members of the Communist Party of the Philippines, he could be a MOLE.

Joma Sison’s doctrine includes having the AFP penetrated by its members.

So, perhaps San Juan being a mole has decided that it was no use fighting today’s fight and by doing so, saved himself from being thrown into prison with hardly elbow room for maneuver, he therefore decided to effect a “surrender” knowing that he can better fight from within than from the outside. By doing so, he can continue doing whatever his “mission” is. After all, the communist dogma is “the end justifies the means”.

I don’t know – just food for thought. In this is really the case, I believe his comrades in arms at the AFP, the real ones, should be wary of San Juan.

  99. Ellen:

You’re right. Gloria did not win the election despite her attempts to steal votes. Even in Tokyo, there were the attempts to steal votes as proven by this notes that I have kept in my file:

    *****
Discrepancies (simple arithmetic of votes counted in Tokyo only)
Total no. of ballots sent by mail: 6,165 (x490 yen each stamp for mailing the ballots)
No. of unused ballots returned by mail: 3,545 (NOT SHOWN TO THE POLLWATCHERS, ETC.)
No. of ballots returned by mail: 2,610
    Less Invalidated Ballots 169
    Less Questionable ballots: 104
Total of supposed ballots for counting: 2,337
No. of Ballots in the boxes for counting on May 10: 2,648 (based on figures of actual counted returned ballots
by inspectors, pollwatchers, etc. who tallied the votes)
    Discrepancy with above: 311*
No. of Spoiled Ballots: 39 (Not included in the count)
    Total Ballots counted: 2,609
No. of ballots counted for Presidents: 2,644
    Discrepancy with above: 35*

    Total discrepancy: 346 (311+35)

    Observations:

    1) Does the embassy agree that the figures below are true and correct. If no, what are the figures it has? If yes, then:

    2) Why are there 2648 ballots in the boxes if only 2337 were received & considered valid? This is a 311 difference – over 13%.

    3) If only 2,609 ballots were counted, why are there 2,644 votes for president? I mean, has our math abilities deteriorated to such a point that we cannot do simple counting? 2,609 na lang nga yang binilang, hindi 26
    million.

The 35 vote difference is 1.34% – and if this is a national pattern, that means a difference of half a million votes in a voting populace of 41 million voters – large enough to make a difference. Both the Bush-vs-Gore
and the recent Taiwan elections were won with much smaller margins!

The discrepancies above are just for the presidency. If we do a simple tabulation for the other positions, there may be more discrepancies that may arise.

Like I said, I understand fully that the embassy feels its reputation has been unjustly attacked. However, if it cannot explain the discrepancies convincingly, then it leaves itself to only to two possible accusations: either their was fraud somewhere, or that it was so grossly incompetent it
could not even count the ballots correctly. Unfortunately, this is the professional risk involved in this thankless job, and you have my sympathies.

Wala naman kailangan pag awayan dito, e. The electorate just wants to know why the numbers don’t seem to add up correctly.
    *****

Is that how they try to insult their fellow Filipinos?

Time to put heads together to expose these anomalies and have the perpetrators sent to jail or to Timbuktu!

He could be a DPA. But torture could have also caused his turnabout. Attys. Te and Saguisag lambasted the AFP today regarding the incarceration and inhumane treatment of their respective clients. Solitary confinement can break a man. Threats and mental torture also get the same results. What scares me is the surge in militarism. Unless this trend is stopped, martial law is not to far away.

  103. Maganda iyong column ni Ducky Paredes on what the Catholic prelate said about cheating. Talaga bang pare iyan?

On the other hand, what this priest is admitting on behalf of the Pandak is that SHE CHEATED in the last election!!! So, why is there no recommendation for disqualifying this crook who think she can get away scotfree by simply invoking the name of God or the support of bishops, et al willing to vouch for her and declaring her cheating as permissible to escape from her legal responsibilities? Aba e wala palang sense of right and wrong ang mga pareng ito!!!

  104. jorgie jorgie

Gee, I just took a pause and then returned to this blog to see so many comments posted especially from one who I refrain from mentioning…the same long comments. Now it’s my turn…

goldenlion, you’re right…the late Cardinal Sin would have accepted the money envelope and with more cash. May I repeat and I’m quoting this from what the media reported which was never denied by the Palace; that Bansot gave Sin a diamond ring in his last birthday. The Fat Guy Mike also donated a check amounting to P 1 Million to Sin personally in another occasion. When Sin and Imelda Marcos was still the best of friends, Imelda used to shower him with expensive gifts. In one video footage I happened to see, Sin was seen laughing and clapping his hands while Imelda was dancing in a party. So in a way, it could be Sin who started all these gift giving and lavish treatment of the servants of God by the leaders of the country. But then, this has been going on for centuries even to the Kings and Popes.

lakay, all churches and religious groups need funds to survive. So, offerings and contributions is not only God’s commands as written in the bible but a “must” to sustain their existence. You may want to find a group that allows voluntary donation instead of the 10% tite that has become obsolute. Mainstream protestant churches and some other large groups require 10% of your income which was the practice of the early Israelites but no longer the same in the Christian Era. The New Testament teaches that everyone must give cheerfully and upon the dictate of his heart. It’s for you to find out what groups.

  105. Anna, All:

The Christian religion or faith is true, but it actually does not follow that the church professing to be based on the Christian faith is truly of Christ even when its leaders say and claim it is, especially when you have such so-called “men of God” acting more like “men of Satan”!

  106. Schumey,

The surge in militarism started during the time of Marcos.

Our military is composed of half would-be or would’ve been professionals and half misfits.

For whatever faults Macoy committed on the military, he did not cast non-PMAers aside. The proof is Ver (although an atrocious example) and a host of other top ranking military officers during Martial Law; they were not from the PMA.

Pound for pound, I must say that there are more good officers who know their job of soldiering and leading in the true sense of the word from non-PMAers more than many from the PMA corps these last 20 years. So deep rooted the corruption and the immorality in our corps of officers from PMA Class 70 onwards(who were still young idealistic, lieutenants and captains – only to be morally corrupted – during the declaration of Martial law) that it would take at the very least 10 years from today to rehabilitate our military. I am counting on batches of 84 and upwards to finally awaken so that 10 years from today, we can have a lesser bunch of misfits…

Gloria’s greed for power took her to the worst heights of ambition that she has abandoned the military (by prostituting them) to a crop of what were once would-be professionals from PMA who have finally proven that greed and immorality are discardable items and honor is at the bottom of the totem pole of military virtues.

These officers have learned almost NOTHING in terms of true leadership.

Gloria has prostituted the military beyond redemption over the next 10 years. (Obviously, Cory and FVR contributed to the share of prostituting the military.) But Gloria’s ascent to power swung the pendulum from stagnantly corrupt military to actively corrupt and unjust military.

The top officers under Gloria’s watch are unworthy of the stars they carry. Only a dozen of them at most deserve their stars and their ranks. What is desolating is that most of our current crop of officers have regressed – they don’t have the moral ability nor the intellectual grasp to understand that an officer must first and foremost be a leader, morally and physically.

Inevitably, the whole institution suffers. Without their moral bearings and moral compassess, troops and junior officers are lost and when they are lost, the country is lost.

Why so? Because the armed forces of a nation is the ultimate protector of the nation and its people against their aggressors and enemies from within and beyond.

That these officers have forgotten that basic tenet of their calling means one thing: the entire republic is wobbly. When the republic is wobbly, you have a choice: either anarchy or fascism…

  107. jorgie jorgie

Courting the military has been the practice of every President. Yes, it was during the time of Marcos that the military was spoiled. The names Ver, Barangan, Dumpit, Ramas and mostly from the Ilocano block were the most fortunate ones. Take note that many of the high ranking military officials were Ilocanos like Marcos. Nothing’s wrong with choosing their own, one may say but this should not be the practice. When Cory became President, lots of Kapampangan too. She even had or still has the so called “Yellow Army”. And today, many juicy civilian and some military positions are also the midget’s cabalens.

The PMAers are the elite. They’re equivalent to those in West Point, USA. There were still some respect for them during the time of Marcos. It was at the start of the Cory reign especially during FVR that the PMAers became so politicized and became involved in the government affairs. When Cory was selected (not elected) President, she dumped all those Marcos officers even if they were good and honest. To her, anything or anyone identified with Marcos was bad. When FVR became the President winning the smallest margin in Philippine election history (Miriam won’t never forgive him), he made sure that his Almonte led gang be the chosen ones. Today, we still see many of the Ramos boys from Ermita down to DOTC’s Mendoza. FVR was wise to have pushed bansot to place his boys in this government. That’s why FVR has so much influence until this day. That’s why bansot is scared of him. FVR has people all around especially in the AFP and government agencies.

Erap? His movie background, lack of education and natural kindness proved to be a disadvantage for he failed to control the military. Except for Lacson whose loyalty to Erap was not 100%, there was no Police or Military official that we could say was really very close to him. Just imagine, the man who he himself appointed as AFP Chief of Staff betrayed him. Angie Reyes’ role was crucial. He was very instrumental in many of the officers’ withdrawal of support from Erap. Yet, before his confirmation as DILG Secretary, Reyes bravely visited Erap to ask for forgiveness which the later granted. That’s how Erap is. How can you not like this Erap? He’s so nice that we can already say he’s become stupid. He also forgave Legarda, Drilon, Villar, Cory and the many others who conspired to oust him. That’s Erap. Despite his movie toughie image, he has a very soft heart. That proved to be more of a disadvantage. He should have emulated this bansot. Nothing’s wrong for being a little hypocrite and telling lies to stay longer in office.

Today, bansot has used the AFP and military fullest to her advantage. The likes of Berroya and this Esperon who were her partners in crime remain loyal to her. All the high ranking officers have been or at one time part of her cheating and corruption machine. Not only this, bansot plays her Uncle Sam card well. Speculations are around that Bush and the US are now distancing from bansot which is far from the truth. The US has a history of keeping and protecting bad leaders as long as they continue to bow and follow the US’s dictate.

Bakit kaya? He-he-he!

Walang Gin dito at lalong walang Tanduay.

As usual puwede ring maligo muna.

Vic, if you’re reading this…are you in Canada? Where? Ontario? What happened to that Filipino child case in Montreal allegedly discriminated by the teacher? Nothing is heard of it. Maybe an amicable settlement. If it’s settled, then my suspicion was correct that the child’s mother could be only after some monetary consideration. Also, what happened to the case of that Filipino youth shot and killed by a white Toronto cop?

Post-CBCP plenary dinner was private — Palace

    By Lira Dalangin-Fernandez
    INQ7.net

SEVERAL members of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) were indeed treated to dinner the evening of July 9, after their plenary assembly, but not by Palace officials as news reports alleged, Presidential Chief of Staff Michael Defensor said on Monday.

Defensor said it was Elvira Go, of the family that owns Equitable Bank, who hosted the dinner for the bishops.

He could not give other details about Go.

Comment: As usual, Malacanang is forced to admit a controversy after denying it whenever it is caught with its pants down. And as usual, a ready excuse and alibi are made. So, what’s the difference between “private” or not private dinner? What matters is that dinners before and after the release of CBCP Pastoral Letter were held. Why did they have to deny it at first and now claim it was only “private”? May lightning strikes on Malacanang and these corrupt bishops!

High class prostitutes earned more than what these bishops got just for a night of service and they can justify it by giving pleasure, while they, bishops, justified it as a help for the poor. What a crap! That’s the line being peddled by the evil queen’s mouthpieces, so, pareho na ang line of justifications nila. Something fishy? Kaya lang kung minsan maiisip mo na if these bishops went so low as to prostitute themselves for the poor why didn’t they maximized the return, let’s ,say at level with the Tonggressmen na by just saying the most expensive word in the entire universe “NO” to impeachment they get their millions, then maybe some may justify it by- Kaya naman pala, malaki ang laman ng sobre. But what appears now is pag-kagahaman sa pera na kahit barya-barya na lang tinatanggap na at mabuti na kaysa sa wala.

  112. jorgie jorgie

As I have said, the prostitute earned more compared to what they got from the evil queen. Sa kinita pa lang mababa na sila, but the most important things to be considered – the moral aspect, principle and the stature in society. What about the bishops? They portrayed themselves as leaders and in their stature in society as godly and holy, receiving a bribe from a corrupt and criminal government knowing fully well that it’s pushing it’s own agenda, is like being flushed in a toilet. In that case, I give my respect to the puta, because they are more straightforward in their dealings than the obispos. So in that kind of situation sino ang mas mababa sa tingin ng mga tao, yong puta o yong bunch of hypocrites.

    Ellen Says:

    July 18th, 2006 at 8:12 am

For this reason, I don’t quite agree when people reason out saying “Never mind my priest, bishop, pastor or the way the church runs as long as I believe in God. Remember even the devil believes in God and trembles.

  117. Jorgie,

Re: “Courting the military has been the practice of every President.”

You’re right that courting the military has been a practice of Philippine presidents BUT THAT PRACTICE IS DOWNRIGHT WRONG and completely, utterly absurd!

The undelying principle in a democracy is that the military is subservient to the civilian government.

The military must “kowtow” to their commander-in-chief and not the other way around.

The public has a share of the blame: Many of our people in government, in the population and in civil society glorify, adulate, virtually put the Philippine military on a pedestal as if they were super heroes. They ARE NOT! To earn that kind of public recognition, the military must be PROFESSIONALS or our military is FAR from being professionals.

Many fear the military for what their uniform represents! Totally deslusional reaction.

The men and women who join the military are paid to do a job. If they do it well, they should be honored like anybody else of a given profession. But to put them on a pedestal, and as you say, courted for their loyalty and service is definitely absurd.

If there are military officers who do not fit the bill of their profession, they must be kicked out from the service, and if they play prima donas, they must be declared misfits and chastised.

In war time, the scenario may be different – the military finds itself in its own environment and because they know what to do (presumably) they are given a far better importance than civilian officers. But in peace time, they should be quiet and should do the job of preparing for war without fanfare.

Our presidents have completely spoiled our military in one way, and in another way, completely humiliated them. There was no balance. Their treatment of the officers and troops are akin to how Henry XIII treated his army – on one hand, with adulation and on the other hand, with scorn. Absolutely ridiculous.

Our current crop military will never be able to take the helm of government so there’s nothing to fear from them. The media need not be scared of a successful coup d’état. Even Gloria, a complete non-entity, could turn our military around her little finger so what is there to fear? It is Gloria whom we must fear… way she’s turned the leadership of the military into vegetable soldiers.

At the end of the day, it is the civilian government and the public that have put our military and its leadership in total disarray.

  118. Do you know that in the US and in Europe, when a military officer retires, he usually reverts to his civilian title of Mr?

And unless he performs another function for the government, a former military officer or a retired officer divests himself of his title. Perhaps, out of courtesy, he may be addressed (from time to time)with his military rank at an official gathering or some public function of some sort but in reality, his military title goes into a cupboard the moment he retires.

The only time he is called again by his military rank in public is when he dies and his title is marked on his tombstone.

This Philippine mania for titles preceeding people’s names is ridiculous (for any profession)! You’d think they become lesser persons withot the titles or ranks. Absolutely absurd.

  119. nelbar nelbar

naghahanap ako ng bagong definition ng private army.
o kaya ay chief of staff playing as commander in chief.
army chief as chief security ng emperyo ng malakanyang.
pnp chief as defacto justice chief.
raul gonzalez bilang bagong hepe ng mtrcb.

  120. jorgie jorgie

Anna, you’re correct. I’m reminded of a police friend who used to tell me this: When a newly graduate police rookie reports for work the first day, his chief or commanding officer tells him: “Okay, here’s your badge, gun and the whole Manila.”

What does the above joke tell us? That many enter the police and military service not only to serve the community and country, but to enrich themselves. It has become a lucrative profession. Take note that we now see many low ranking officers even as low as sergeant and leutenant drive fancy cars and own nice houses. Just imagine the senior officers…the generals. Who is to blame for this? They of course but I say it’s also the system. Many are eaten by the system. If you have the most corrupt commander-in-chief in the person of this Pandak, how can you expect honest officers?

You know what, that’s the most stupid comment that I ever encounter in this blog.
I’m sorry, It’s a lapse of judgement”.

Ayaw ko na ng away pero I agree with what you said.
