Gaza should concern us

gaza
I plead “guilty” to not having paid attention to atrocities in the Gaza strip in the Middle East.

I know that our own problems here should not be an excuse to be oblivious to the inhumanities being perpetrated on other people in other parts of the world.. We should join hands in condemning lawlessness and injustice, wherever they are committed. They have no place in a civilized world.

Harry Roque, professor of Public International Law at the UP College of Law and at the Philippine Judicial Academy and chairman of the Center for International Law, enlightens us with the following commentary:

“It is unfortunate that the crisis at the Gaza strip has taken a back seat to two ongoing domestic issues: those of the Alabang Boys and the Pangandaman Valley Golf incident. While perhaps the distant location of Gaza and its lack of “soap opera’ appeal may largely be to blame for the lack of serious discussion on the Gaza issue, it is imperative that equal importance be accorded to Gaza since it involves important rule of law issues that are equally relevant to the Philippines, what with our armed conflicts against the New People’s Army and the MILF, as well as our unresolved territorial controversies that may also lead to further armed conflicts.

“Thus far, bulk of the reportage by Philippine media on the Gaza crisis has been on the plight of OFWs who continue to be stranded in the place of conflict. This is a sorry reflection of how Philippine foreign policy has been crafted of late: parochially reduced only to how events overseas may directly affect our overseas workers constituting the Diaspora. Not much has been said as to why there are mammoth rallies around the globe against this latest instance of Israeli adventurism. That is, that by unilaterally resorting to the use of force, Israel has again showed its defiance to International Law that prohibits the use of force and restrictively allowing the same only to circumstances constituting self-defense or when authorized by the Security Council of the United Nations. Imperfect as the UN may presently be, it has nonetheless been largely instrumental in preventing what the UN Charter describes as “scourges of war.” This prohibition on the use of force is in fact the most important rule stated in the UN Charter and one that has proven largely effective in preventing armed conflicts of the scale that ravaged humanity in the past two world wars.

“Why Israel has not opted to have the Hamas issue debated in the Security Council is open to speculation. The fact though is that if the missile attacks are indeed threats to international peace, the international community has already granted the Security Council primary jurisdiction to deal with these types of threats. For Israel and its ally, the US, to now insist on unilateral use of force is a blatant disregard of a cardinal rule recognized by all civilized states.

“Israel of course will claim that its recent offensive is but an exercise of self-defense. In fact, it has stated that it will only stop when and if Hamas stops launching missiles into Israeli territory. But the question is: Self-defense against whom?

“Hamas is a non-state party that Israel accuses of operating in the territory of its neighboring states. Without accusing either Palestine or Lebanon of aggression, it has waged wars against both these states solely on the ground that Hamas operatives are found in the territories of these two states. There is the further issue of proportionality. Assuming Israel may invoke self-defense against a non-state actor, has the force that it has utilized proportional to the rocket attacks launched against its territory. Surely, a complete dislocation of the civilian populations in Gaza belies proportionality.

“Meanwhile, the death toll as a result of the crisis continues to rise. Included in the victims are protected individuals under humanitarian law such as civilians, including women and children. What is the sense, for instance, of targeting even the 11 children and four wives of an alleged Hamas leader? Has there since developed a principle attributing criminal guilt solely by virtue of family relations? Likewise, what was the logic in targeting not one, but three UN-run schools?

“The fact that Israel has been targeting civilian homes is a breach of humanitarian law itself since the Geneva conventions prohibit combatants from targeting civilian infrastructures. And yes, the fact that Israel has been violating the binding norms of humanitarian law apparently with impunity is equally deplorable since these grave breaches weaken the rule-enforcing value of the law. Why should our own soldiers in the AFP, or the NPA and the MILF, desist from targeting civilians when the Israelis have seemingly gotten away with it?

“Ultimately the Gaza issue should be accorded equal importance as the Alabang Boys and the Valley Golf incident because it undermines the rule of law on the prohibition against the unilateral use of force and the non-derogable rule according protection to civilians and other non-combatants in times of armed conflicts. The Gaza issue could spell disaster to countries like the Philippines. For while Israel may have the confidence to engage in military adventurism and commit grave breaches of humanitarian law owing to its superior military strength, countries like the Philippines can only rely on other countries’ compliance with the rule of law against threats of these nature. Think of the Spratlys. Think of China. Think of Malaysia. Think of terrorists operating in Mindanao. This is why Filipinos should take the Gaza incident more seriously. Because unless the rule of law is observed, our tora-toras will simply be no match to our potential state adversaries’ military might.”

The Israel-Palestine problem was prophesied in the Bible; and has been going on for centuries. Israel being the First Nation of God was cursed by God when the Israelites turned away from Him. So, Israel has a long history of war and battles that never ends.

Who is to blame between the two would depend on which side you are. The US has consistently defended Israel for obvious reasons. The US business and economy are controlled by the Jews. Politicians continue to get support from the Jews. The US is also among the biggest suppliers of military weapons to Israel. And the US needs Israel to balance the Arab power in the region.

Assuming that Israel has the right to defend itself and the Hamas in Gaza were guilty of provocation. But, it doesn’t justify Israel’s attack on Gaza using planes and tanks. As of this writing, more than 800 Palestinians have been killed while only about 20 Israelis were killed. What a huge difference of casualties. And 80% of those killed in Gaza were civilians among them large number of children. Such bullying tactic by Israel seems to be copied from her mentor, Uncle Sam. Overkill. It’s like a heavyweight boxer against a lightweight. Worse, there are reports that Israel is now using chemicals (white powder).

The question of the above ongoing conflict was asked to Senator Hilary Clinton during the nomination at the Senate.
She did not give a straight answer; but made it clear that while the next Obama administration supports the Israel’s right to self defense, Obama and she are against the killings of innocent civilians. From this, we could expect a more fair Obama administration towards this Gaza conflict.

  2. The problem with the conflict in Gaza is that when Israel is attacked by rockets or suicide bombers, whether by Hamas, Hezbollah, or probably some unnamed Islamic street gang, no one demonstrates the same anguish of similar magnitude as they now do in many parts of the world. A country that is constantly under threat of terrorism, whether from within or without, and its citizens living a continuous life of fear, has to defend itself at whatever cost to the enemy lest it disintegrates into an anarchist failed state that we now have in Somalia, DR Congo, and a few other West African Nations.

It would be hard to imagine rockets landing on our houses in Manila and we just leave everything to God or to fate. We should be happy our country is not one contiguous piece of land or else the Islamic fundamentalists from Malaysia, Indonesia, and our homegrown ragheads would by now be knocking on our doors with RPGs or their suicide bombers ready to collect from Allah his reward of 72 virgins be our seatmates in buses and trains. Should that happen, will we be waiting for the UN, now an organization that wants to distance itself from Israeli-US interests, to take all its sweet time debating while we die in our homes? No sir.

Sure, we have been preoccupied lately with the club-swingin’ couples Dela Paz and Pangandamans but in the same context as the Hamas-Israel affair, it is the same case where the instigators and initiators cried foul after being confronted by a superior force, want to be depicted as victims in the eyes of the whole world. But the opposite of that seems to be emerging.

Ditto the plight of the Alabang Boys’ prosecutors, who after ages of unabated corruption, are now complaining about unfair accusations and bad press. They are also playing the victim card. We, thus, may be preoccupied by less trivial matters but we may be right in witholding further action because after all, everything is fair in love and war.

I agree though that our official response should not be limited to mere repatriation of workers and subsequent banning of deployment.

But do we really expect more from an incompetent and corrupt government that is more involved in extending Gaga than getting involved in Gaza?

Do we believe our leaders will be more passionate for the events in the Gulf than their passion for Golf?

Witty and sarcastic but a brilliant piece. I agree with your opinion wholeheartedly, nothing more to say.

Fewer casualties to the Israelis coz they are well-prepared.

Hamas hides within civilians – that’s why Israeli planes drop leaflets to Gaza residents warning them of impending attacks.

Hamas is a Terrorists Organization in cahoots with Hezbollah.

Hamas is the one in violation of Cease Fire all the time.

Hamas sends childred to Israel to blow themselves up.

Most Hamas leaders are well sheltered and protected – their brain-washed disciples are suffering the consequences.

Those who support Hamas only looks at the sufferings of the people of Gaza. What about the casualties in Israel???
Few compared to Many?? What difference does it make!!

  5. bitchevil bitchevil

Needless to say, my fellow bloggers above are pro-Israel and anti-Hamas. It’s true that rockets are being shot from the Hamas militants but these are to the Southern Israel where there’s less population. On the other hand, Israel uses its superior military might to attack hospitals, civilian residences, worship places, government buildings, etc. This is not my opinion but from the reports of neutral media. Why can’t Israel just give the lands rightfully belong to the Palestinians? Why keep trespassing and occupying. Israel’s bullying tactic is due to the West’s protection and encouragement. Take away the West and Israel would be like a meek lamb banging its head on the wall.

Obama has been very cautious about Gaza. So far, he has not issued a specific comment about it. Last night, I caught an interview with him by NBC and he said that he should have studied deeply the issue of terrorism before making any promises on how he’d deal with it (on his campaign trails). He’s so fuzzy talking about this topic. Anyway, he still is honeymooning with the press….

As I said before, Barack is an American and can not go far with his international policies on terrorism opposing the US conservative stand.

  7. bitchevil bitchevil

Deep in Obama’s heart, he condemns Israel’s action and sympathizes with Palestinians; but he is constrained to follow America’s long time policy of protecting her allies to protect her own interest.

  8. Israel has generously bent backwards in a serious gesture of peacemaking and has even left Gaza which it has occupied for decades.

Now rocket attacks are really uncalled for. Peace is not a one-way street.

  9. bitchevil bitchevil

It was as if only yesterday when Israel attacked Lebanon that killed hundreds of people. Now they’re going it to Gaza. No justification whatsoever.

  10. dandaw dandaw

I say, go Israel go. Nuke them and let God sort them out. If Hamas or Hezbollah are hiding amongst the civilians and children that is not Israel’s problem. Israel is not a bully, Hamas and Hezbollah are. Israel and the free world honor life and the Muslims honor death for reasons they will meet the 12 virgins promised by Mohammed in heaven. The Koran was written 15000AD after Jesus was crucified? By the way the son of the Founder of Hamas depected to the U.S. He narrated why he was converted to Christianity. He further said that while in jail he read both the Bible and the Koran and he was struck by what he read about the Bible which says, “love thy enemy” My hats-off to this guy, he is smart and he said might be able to convert some radical muslims. Thats how we should teach our youth instead of going to the streets carrying a make- believe dead baby in their arms. It was front page in Malaya News the other day. I was shock of how they brainwashed the children. That is whats happening in most counties in Europe and the Middle East. They listen to radical and liberal media. Kudos to Twisted T, you wrote a piece that everyone should read. Thank you twist.

  11. bitchevil bitchevil

What’s up Republican? You sure appear when America’s being discussed here.

Many civilians in Gaza are married to Hamas, and not because Hamas militants mix with civilians. When the US attacked Iraq, that was the same excuse given. They had to kill civilians because they were mixed with Saddam’s soldiers. You don’t question who mixes with who in a country that’s diversified. What if Iran attacks Israel on on the pretext that there are militants in Israel against Iranians? And what about if India attacks Pakistan on the pretext that the latter harbors terrorists? Or Russia attacks the US saying there are anti-Russians in the US? Same reason going on in Mindanao. The GIs are there to help the RP troops catch the Muslim terrorists.

  12. bitchevil bitchevil

Israel complains about Iranian’s nuke; but Israel and the US both have nukes. Come on…be real !

  14. Israel’s war on Gaza: Follow the gas trail

I didn’t have the slightest clue that the Palestinians were sitting on a huge gas reserve in Gaza until I read a link to Michel Chossudovsky’s War and Natural Gas: The Israeli Invasion and Gaza’s Offshore Gas Fields.

    Highlights:

[…] The military invasion of the Gaza Strip by Israeli Forces bears a direct relation to the control and ownership of strategic offshore gas reserves.

This is a war of conquest. Discovered in 2000, there are extensive gas reserves off the Gaza coastline.

British Gas (BG Group) and its partner, the Athens based Consolidated Contractors International Company (CCC) owned by Lebanon’s Sabbagh and Koury families, were granted oil and gas exploration rights in a 25 year agreement signed in November 1999 with the Palestinian Authority.

The issue of sovereignty over Gaza’s gas fields is crucial. From a legal standpoint, the gas reserves belong to Palestine.

    …/…

The election of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in 2001 was a major turning point. Palestine’s sovereignty over the offshore gas fields was challenged in the Israeli Supreme Court. Sharon stated unequivocally that “Israel would never buy gas from Palestine” intimating that Gaza’s offshore gas reserves belong to Israel. […]

Ex-Batangas Governor Tony Leviste was found guilty of homicide by the Court for killing his long time aide, Rafael De la Alas. It should have been murder.

  16. In light of this revelation (which seems not to have hit the press yet), Israel’s invasion of Gaza is beginning to make sense — as in any war of attrition (make no mistake about it — this is what Israel’s war on Gaza is all about), one only needs to follow the “money trail” to obtain the truth on the whys and the wherefores of that war.

Many of us have been wondering what Israel hopes to achieve by committing atrocities in Gaza, that despite international condemnation, pressure and protests, she refuses to budge from her determination to cause the quasi extermination of a people. Well, the appalling parcels of truth seem to be falling in place: Follow the gas trail!

That’s what this war seems to be all about. But of course, we know that Israel would not give Gaza or that strip of Palestinian land the light of day if there was nothing in that strip of land for them. Follow the gas trail!

Btw, we must not forget that it was Israel that broke the ceasefire when IDF launched a raid into Gaza on Nov 4th killing a number of Hamas men. Hamas retaliated.

After turning their backs from their Creator, they were cursed. The Son of God came but still they did not believe in Him. They were dispersed and wondered everywhere.
There is no such thing as Israel. It only exists because of the U.S and Great Britain. Now the Jews wanted their land back.
Just like the good old days, they are aking trouble.

  18. bitchevil bitchevil

Thanks AdeBrux and Golberg for sharing my view. I thought I was the only one here who looked at the other side of the coin. The reason why Israel appears to be the good boy and the Hamas the bad boy is due to the Western media’s portrayal. Gas trail…exactly! Why do you think there was a military confrontation in Georgia recently. It’s all about oil passage. Why do you think the US cannot get out of Iraq and Afghanistan and now planning to include Iran? It’s all about oil pipeline. Under Obama’s administration, we may see a better foreign policy…a policy that’s not too pro-West. But Obama would find it extremely hard to neutralize the oil cartel, the ultra-rightist. I feel sorry for Obama.

  19. bitchevil bitchevil

And as if Bush and the Republicans’ eight years of war adventures was not enough, Bush has not left anything good but to warn Obama about the future attacks of the enemies. Tsk, tsk, tsk…Clinton left so much surplus in the treasury when he left but Bush is leaving huge deficit for Obama. This alone has proven Bush to be the worst President America ever had. And he had the balls to say he did not need popularity during his farewell Press Conference!

  20. Golberg Golberg

That would also be a trouble for Obama.
If he change the policy that the Jews wanted to initiate (since the Jews are the heavy lobbyist in both houses)for their money making venture, Obama will be in the headlines of the all the newspapers in the world.
Diamonds are still well flourishing in South Africa. I wonder why do they have to get the pipelines? Para mas maraming pera? Why not di ba? If that would start something bigger, fabulous and wonderful for the trouble makers.

  21. bitchevil bitchevil

That’s correct. The Jews are the biggest lobbyists in the US.
Politicians need them. Politicians are scared of them. Some people are beginning to understand why Hitler wanted to wipe out the Jews in the map. Please don’t get me wrong. Jews are smart businessmen…only at the expense of others.

  22. Golberg Golberg

Certainly the atrocities of the Jews will cross the line. When that happens, they will make their territory more smaller than before. And if they will not be converted, they will be wiped out.
Hitler’s murder of more than 6M or 60M Jews ba yun? Its something to make a statement why he did it. They are really good in making money out of the skills and expense of others.
“His blood be upon us and our children.” Mangyayari na ito.

Israel and Hamas can slit it’s other’s throat, but let’s call a Queen of Heart a Queen of Heart, not a Jack or a King.

IDF retaliated only when Hamas militants were caught at the security fence of Israel trying to abduct it’s soldiers – this was an excuse for Hamas to fire over 300 rockets unto Israel. Six were killed in Gaza, none in Israel, so Arabs/Muslims and their symphatizers cried foul of “atrocities”, same scenario and same excuses.

A few days ago, five or six filipinos from Qatar were going back home to the Philippines – they were never paid by their Arab employers and mostly were abused. How often do we hear reports like these in the Middle East? Too often!

I’ve never heard of any Filipino who works in Israel who were abused, raped, their passports kept by their employers and unpaid. IF anyone here knows of someone, please post the link.

Hamas will never renounce violence towards Israel. It’s deep rooted hatred is like a black and white in America, will forever be there. Hamas lacks candor.

America’s interest in war torn Iraq, Israel and Mindanao is similar. Oil. Its oil reserves will be depleted in 8 years. It is the biggest importer of oil and consumes more than twice compared to China. Its top priority, get oil at all cost, by hook or by crook.

Collateral damage in Gaza at 25% is much lower than in Mindanao where civilian body count and property damage is disregarded. Israel uses precision bombing while in Mindanao, its either “bato-bato sa langit, matamaan huwag magagalit” or intentional terrorism. The only reason why there are more deaths in Gaza is the magnitude and degree of fighting and bomnbing is greater.

My suggestion to our OFW’s in Gaza who cannot evacuate, is to stay away from any Hamas military installations and any facilities or equipment that you know is supporting Hamas. Keep in mind that Israel is also avoiding being judged unfavorably by world opinion and they are trying to avoid collateral damage in as much as possible. You should keep yourself updated on where fighting activities are. Move to a place in Gaza where you think is safer. Hospitals and churches are safe. Store more food, water, basic medicines and first aid kits. Keep flashlights handy, cellphone/s charged and make sure your car is in good running condition. Transfer to another house if it is within 100 feet of any Hamas military camp or installation. Do not panic. Remember, you are not the enemy.

What is the difference between suicide bombers and killers of hamas and their like who kill and maim innocent civilians including children and babies and what Israel is doing in the Gaza? To me they are both the same. As a matter of fact hamas even calls for death to all non-believers that includes you and me. They even won’t tolerate RCs and Christian communities in their midst. The feud between Muslim and Jews as shown by the conflict in Gaza is an age old story. It wont end just as yet as one would like to annihilate the other. It does not help too that muslim countries encourages and supports hamas with war material and the US supports Israel. As to fighting for natural gas and oil deposits, I do not subscribe to it. As said this is an age old grudge. Should we Filipinos be concerned? Maybe, but let us confront first our own Philippine problems. Let the Gaza conflict resolve itself. Palestinians and Israelis sort out their issues and we Filipinos do the same. Ours is getting worse. We are losing fast our capacity for outrage against misdeeds as in rampant corruption in government and thwarting of the peoples will. So should Gaza concern us? I’d say the GMA problem concerns us more.

  33. There have been a number of Jews who have come out openly in oppposition to Israel’s atrocities in Gaza:

Jewish Voice for Peace urges the U.S. government to suspend military aid to Israel until it ends its 37-year occupation of the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem

Rabbi Michael Lerner — It breaks my heart to see Israel’s stupidity.

  34. I feel sorry for the innocent civilians caught in these silly wars on both sides. I condemn both sides, the Israelis and the Hamas now backed by the terrorists in Lebanon that is why I am not joining any demonstration in Japan giving encouragement to Hamas, whom a lot of my Palestinian friends also consider to be terrorists until lately when Israel started its offensive against the people of Palestine as evidenced by their bombings even of innocent civilians whom they tell to leave their houses but are bombed and attacked by Israeli planes nevertheless when they ran to the streets of Gaza. In short, walang mapuntahan ang mga pobre! Kawawa naman talaga.

BE is right that these wars are prophesied not that the Israelis are really condemned by God, because as the Bible clearly states, they are still God’s chosen people who need to be pruned, etc. in the latter days (our time) to be worthy of being called as such, and counted among the blessed sons and daughters of Abraham, including the Moslems, who are descendants of the other son of Abraham by the Egyptian slave of Sarah.

These wars, however, are not the works of God above but by evil men who want to rule the world, for definitely no evil originates from God!!!

  35. BTW, how are the OFWs stranded there in Palestine? Are the idiotic deputies of Gloria Bangaw monitoring their condition there now? Baka may news blackout na naman para hindi mabisto ang kapabayaan ng mga bugaw na nagbebenta ng mga pilipino kung saan-saan.

Here’s an interesting article:Iran stakes Mideast role on Hamas

“A week before Israeli ground troops invaded Gaza, Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, issued a religious decree granting martyr status to anyone killed fighting the Israelis.

Since then, groups of hard-line students and radical mullahs have launched registration drives to enlist suicide bombers to attack Israeli targets.

On Monday, while student volunteers marched through downtown Tehran wearing white funeral shrouds, the recruiters claimed to have enlisted 70,000 willing human bombs.

It’s the type of propaganda ploy Iran specializes in, along with ritualized calls of “Death to Israel” and “Death to America” after Friday prayers in Tehran’s mosques.

But it underlines the fact Iran has an awful lot at stake in the war in Gaza: it armed, trained and supported Hamas in a bid to bolster its influence in the Middle East, and has a vital strategic interest in seeing the Palestinian group survive the current Israeli onslaught.”

  37. bitchevil bitchevil

Iran is spoiling Israel and the West’s plan to control the region. That’s all to it. Without Iran to counter these conspirators, the Middle East would have gone to those countries with evil motive to control the region in order to control the oil.

That decree issued granting martyr status to anyone killed fighting the Israelis would also be good to our brother Muslims in the Philippines. A similar decree should be issued that anyone who dies killing the Evil Bitch be declared a martyr.

  38. Tilamsik Tilamsik

    America’s Shame

This is the question of our time.

For sixty years Israelis have been stealing Palestine from Palestinians. There are maps available on the Internet and in Israeli publications showing the shrinkage over time of what was once Palestine into what Palestine is today–a small number of unconnected ghettos or bantustans.

Palestine became “the occupied territory” from which Palestinians were ejected and Israeli settlements built for “settlers.” Jordan, Syria and Lebanon are full of refugee camps in which Palestinians driven off their lands by Israeli force have been living for decades.

Gaza is a concentration camp of 1.5 million Palestinians who were driven from their homes and villages and collected in the Gaza Ghetto.

Caterpillar Tractor makes a special bulldozer for Israel that is designed to knock down Palestinian homes and to uproot their orchards. In 2003 an American protester, Rachel Corrie, stood in front of one of these Caterpillars and was run over and crushed.

Nothing happened. The Israelis can kill whomever they want whenever they want.

They have been doing so for 60 years, and they show no sign of stopping.

Currently they are murdering women and children in the ghetto that they have created for Palestinians in Gaza. The entire world knows this. The Red Cross protests it. But the Israelis brazenly claim that they are killing “Hamas terrorists who are a threat to Israel’s existence.”

The American media knows that this is a lie, but does not say so.

Israel has been able to slowly exterminate a people for sixty years without provoking sufficient outrage to stop it.

The United States, “Christian America,” has been Israel’s greatest enabler in its long-term murder of the Palestinian people. Millions of “evangelical Christians” endorse Israel’s ethnic cleansing of Palestine.

The rest of the world condemns the Israeli military attack on the Gaza Ghetto. Last week the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution requiring a ceasefire and the withdrawal of the Israeli SS from Gaza.

    The United States abstained.

While the rest of the world condemns Israel’s inhumanity, the US Congress–I should say the US Knesset–rushed to endorse the Israeli slaughter of the Palestinians in Gaza.

The US Senate endorsed Israel’s massacre of Palestinians with a vote of 100-0.

The US House of Representatives voted 430-5 to endorse Israel’s massacre of Palestinians.

The resolutions endorsed by 100% of the US Senate and 99% of the House were written by AIPAC, as were the speeches praising Israel for its inhumanity.

The US Congress was proud to show that it is Israel’s puppet even when it comes to murdering women and children.

The President of the United States was proud to block effective action by the UN Security Council by ordering the Secretary of State to abstain.

Be a Proud American. Swagger and strut. Pretend that you are not besmirched by the shame that your government has heaped upon you. Take refuge in your ignorance, fostered by 60 years of Israeli lies, that the murder of Palestinians and the theft of their lands is “Israel’s right of self-defense.”

  39. bitchevil bitchevil

Very well said. As I earlier pointed out, the Western media portrays Israel as the victim and the Palestinians as the aggressors. It’s actually the other way around.

Municipal government institutions must produce any electronically stored information the public has a right to see, even if it requires using their technical expertise to develop new software, the Ontario Court of Appeal has ruled.

In a 3-0 decision yesterday, the court ordered the Toronto Police Services Board to respond “immediately” to requests from Star reporter Jim Rankin for information stored in two electronic databases, documenting contacts between citizens and police.

Yesterday’s decision marks the first time the court has ruled on the scope of the public’s and the media’s right to access electronic records held by municipal government institutions through freedom of information requests, said Tony Wong, a lawyer representing the Star.

“This is an issue of substantial importance,” said Wendy Matheson, a lawyer representing the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, which intervened in the case.

“In today’s society, electronic recordkeeping is commonplace.”

Ann Cavoukian, Ontario’s Information and Privacy Commissioner, hailed yesterday’s decision as a “landmark” ruling that says principles of openness and transparency apply to electronic as well as paper records in the government’s possession.

Rankin began seeking the information in 2003 to test a Toronto police claim that officers do not engage in racial profiling.

Police refused the request, saying it would be time-consuming and require the use of a special computer program to replace personal information, such as names, with numbers.

Darrel Smith, a lawyer representing police, argued since the information would have to be reformatted, the databases did not meet the definition of a publicly accessible “record” under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Privacy Act.

    The appeal court disagreed.

The Palestinians are fighting against Palestinians. “The radical Islamic movement Hamas won a large majority in the Palestinian parliament in 2006 that could dramatically reshape the Palestinians’ relations with Israel and the rest of the world.”

So applying this concept, would we allow this to happen in our country. What’s the comparison? Mindanao and MILF
Palestines and Hamas? just think about it.

If we have to put some blame to america then we ignore the very problem we have in our country. Maybe we should not even go that far. We have our big issue here.

Every country has its own militants and rebellious people. There are militants in Pakistan and India most often because of ideological differences. In the Philippines, the Communists and Leftist groups continue to oppose the government regardless of who the President is. I bet you that once Gloria steps down or ousted, the same militant groups will oppose the new administration. Same is true in Gaza and Lebanon. In the ultimate analysis, the problem is better left to their own people to resolve and not to interfere. Following America’s practice, Israel is meddling in the internal affairs of her neighbors not necessarily to defend herself. As pointed out, Israel has been doing this for 60 years.

  49. I have 3 friends who died in World Trade Center in 9/11. All of them civilians. Probably, all of them innocent and never had anything to do in the war of the US against the Islamic terrorists.

Over a thousand Americans, some Brits, Japanese, a few Pinoys, and just about every nationality perished there, too. Again, all of them civilians except the firemen and policemen who died in order that many more could live.

Now how about London? Have you forgotten how 52 innocent lives were wasted and more than 700 were injured?

Think about Madrid’s train attacks. About 200 innocent commuters died there; and over 2,000 injured.

Have you also forgotten the very graphic images of the Beslan school hostage incident in Russia where very young boys and girls were stripped naked and later killed by jihadists? My heart bled for all the 500 people who died there, two hundred of them schoolchildren and hundreds of parents and teachers so innocent, they couldn’t even use their numbers to gang up on their few murderers who were shooting assault rifles and grenades at them?

Or that rock concert again, in Russia where Chechen women suicide bombers, who would probably not be rewarded with male virgins by Allah, but just the same, blew themselves up and killed hundreds of innocent fans, mostly the youth, out to simply enjoy music and celebrate youth?

Who has forgotten how the terrorists in the 1972 Munich Olympics where Israeli athletes and coaches were taken hostages and later, murdered by Yasser Arafat’s followers inside their getaway helicopters? Of course it was just the Jews anyway, right? But Israel’s participation in that event was highlighted by their history and that of the Olympic host, Germany. The Jews showed all the people in the planet how they, the citizens of a country almost completely annihilated by crazy Nazis, can be magnanimous and be able to forgive the unforgivable in a genuine gesture of promoting peace by way of their participation in the Summer Games, only to suffer the same fate of their WWII relatives in similar murderous fashion.

How about the jihad against their own Muslim takfirs (traitors) in Algiers? Some 4,000 civilians were massacred in the bloodiest wave of violence attributed to Islamic mass-murderers who wiped out whole villages and considered these as their religious duty?

Bombay, just recently. A wave of destruction and murder occurred on that fateful day late last year.

We had our share in the Valentine’s Day, Rizal Day, and Superferry bombings, too. This is aside from a sprinkling of mortar-based IEDs that exploded in moviehouses, markets, malls and plazas in Mindanao. But these are now quite rare our Muslim-loving friends now probably find Mindanao boring.

The list goes on and of course the most celebrated was 9/11 that shockingly destroyed the myth of America’s impenetrability. Thousands were killed to prove this point.

Indulgence please, but let me again dig into my rusting memory of how we probably ended up where we are now.

Militant Islamism, or Islamic Terrorism as the Westerners call it, was born as early as the 11th century when the Persian al-Hashshasin, a group known to smoke the marijuana derivative hashish before executing their high-profile victims who opposed their choice of throne successors and those who threatened the existence of the followers of assassin leader Hassan.

The word “assassin” was derived from this group’s name whose list of victims include the most powerful Caliphs, Viziers, Emirs, and Sultans of the old Middle East and a few successful and failed attempts at European royalty during the time of the Crusades. Assassins usually attacked their victims in public to cultivate terror and rejected using distance weapons like spears and arrows which allowed the assassin to escape easily. On the other side, Saladin, who had several brushes with his own assassination by this group, was a descendant of a clan that was probably the first Islamic group to preach jihad against foreign occupation during the First Crusade, where Christian churches were captured and converted into mosques. From political assassins and church captors, they merged and developed into freedom fighters against foreign powers. The Israelites, being relatively new aliens to their land were, and still are, considered invaders.

Fast forward into the last two centuries, their ideologies remain intact, which is, anything that has to do with Christianity, Zionism, even Muslim countries that are “too close” to the Americans are considered traitors, thus “takfirs” are rendered the extreme punishment of death. Martyrs have been brainwashed using hardline religious fanaticism to carry out some of the tasks.

When you have Hamas, a terrorist group comprised of professionals (teachers, religious workers, doctors, engineer, etc) that has in its organizational charter the total destruction and elimination of Israel, how would you respond if you were an Israelite? Even Arafat blames them for sabotaging the Israel-Palestine peace talks in the mid 90’s by stepping up suicide bombings just before Israel’s elections which enabled the replacement of the peaceniks with hardliners Likud Party behind Netanyahu, brother of the Entebbe Airport Rescue hero. Netanyahu’s performance was really dismal he was just elected for 3 years. He now leads the opposition war freaks in the Knesset.

In contrast, Ariel Sharon, the peacemaker, has declared in 2004 Israel’s Unilateral Disengagement Plan to evict all Israeli citizens from 21 settlements in Gaza and 4 in North West Bank including demolition of all military structures and forcible evacuation should Israelis resist. They did just that and completed all these in two years. How’s that for goodwill and confidence building? From the outset, peace seemed to be flourishing in the last few years, relatively.

But here again comes Hamas, motivated by their total intolerance, nay, contempt for the Jews and other evil designs, still not contented with coexisting with Israel has, for the past 2 years, fortified its city with booby traps and dug tunnel networks taking advantage of the pullout.

The attacks on Israel were premeditated. They had planned to drag the war right into the city of about half a million residents. Why would you booby-trap your city and risk the lives of your children at a time that your enemy is pulling out and appeared serious with its peace efforts? There is no other explanation, they will use civilian shields for their strategic positions and push the tired Ariel Sharon into a full-blown urban war which they jumpstarted by firing Qassam rockets from Gaza City southward into Israel territory where civilians live. They are also releasing Grad Missiles targeting civilan Jewish villages.

Hamas leader Zahar(?) was shown on TV last week saying their brothers would be killing Jewish children anywhere in the world! Such inhuman behavior does not merit my sympathy or compassion, surely not my support.

The reaction of Israel’s side maybe harsh but at this time, it seems to be the only way to handle it once and for all, and not treat this incident with kid-gloves or else Hamas, Hezbollah, or whomever, would surely be provoking Israel in a matter of months. Or weeks.

We will not see justice for the death of the thousands I enumerated earlier. Certainly not for my three friends. Nor is there an end in sight.

This war they are waging is a war against Christianity, our religion, our values, our children, and our children’s children. Not just oil, territory, and other material things. It just happened that it is Israel that has to fight our war for us. Yeah, we can’t engage our raghead employers and our masters because we’re too damn scared.

War is stupid. Especially one that has no end.

  52. bitchevil bitchevil

Tongue, you’re saying that Israel’s attacks and killings of civilians is harsh but it’s still attack and killing. It reminds me of the saying: The Law is Harsh but it’s still the Law.

  53. So what is your point? What do you suggest the Israelis do? Sit down and wait for death to come? Or engage in a one-bullet-for-one-bullet warfare? Or completely eliminate the threat from the source?

Maybe some of our military strategists-bloggers can help us out.

  54. bitchevil bitchevil

My point? My point is there’s no justification whatsoever for Israel to attack Gaza by air and land killing innocent civilians. If they cannot catch the Hamas, that’s their problem. Why involve the civilians? I thought Israel has one of the most efficient intelligence networks. Let me just ask you this: For instance, a bad guy inside your home, a relative, throws stone at my house. Do I call all my relatives armed with guns and knives to attack your house and hurt all members of your family including your old grandma and baby?

  55. bitchevil bitchevil

And to dandaw (where are you?): Do you know that your buddy Joe the Plumber is now in Israel? He now calls himself as reporter/war correspondence. He was not a licensed plumber. His name was not Joe. And he’s not a reporter. Everything he says about himself is false. He was planted by the Republicans to destroy Obama in a rally but failed. Please pardon me if I bring the name of Joe the Plumber here. His presence and trip in Israel is a big question. Who funded his trip? Who asked him to go to Israel? Joe is an American. Do I need to explain further? And by the way, why doesn’t he also visit Gaza and talk to the Hamas? Apparently, Joe is a paid propagandist for Israel by the American Jews.

  56. My point? My point is there’s no justification whatsoever for Israel to attack Gaza by air and land killing innocent civilians.

And THERE IS justification for Hamas to fire rockets and missiles into innocent civilian households in Israel? Same question with the terrorist incidents I listed above.

For instance, a bad guy inside your home, a relative, throws stone at my house. Do I call all my relatives armed with guns and knives to attack your house and hurt all members of your family including your old grandma and baby?

You are old enough to decide how you defend yourself. But don’t worry, no one among my relatives is stupid enough to throw stones at your house. If anyone did I’ll be the first to shoot him with my ***. It’s foolish to stone a neighbor “from inside my home”; all our doors and windows have metal screens it’s my house that would be damaged. Besides, it’s a wrong analogy. First, the Hamas didn’t throw mere grenades or firecrackers, or STONES into Israel civilian homes, those were rockets and missiles, for crying out loud! And the way you’re saying it is like it’s the first time such has happened.

Of course I will retaliate with my own weapons! It’s that simple.

But you have not answered the question “what do you suggest the Israelis do?” Fire rockets and missiles also at the sites where those were fired from? Then you are accepting that Israel’s action is acceptable because those were fired from the city.

  57. More opinions on the recent Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza that starts:
Article 13 of the charter for Hamas—a terrorist group elected by the people of the Gaza Strip as their so-called “government”—reads as follows: “[Peace] initiatives, the so-called peaceful solutions, and the international conferences to resolve the Palestinian problem, are all contrary to the beliefs of the Islamic Resistance Movement.”
In other words, any sort of peaceful solution in which Israel continues to exist is simply unacceptable to Hamas. Faced with this stark reality—that, until Israel is wiped off the map, Hamas will not stop its campaign of terror—Israel is absolutely justified in its defensive actions against Hamas.

  58. Thanks, neonate. That article is very enlightening and I recommend Ellen’s bloggers to read it. It’s too tempting to post the whole article but here are some highlights:

While critics have charged that Israel continues to instigate the admittedly tragic violence in the region, they ignore the numerous efforts that the Israeli government has made to end the conflict. In the past decade, Israel has offered to withdraw from 97 percent of the West Bank, and has also unilaterally removed its forces from the Gaza Strip. But apparently even these well-intentioned efforts are not enough for the radical Hamas leadership, which has repeatedly refused to recognize Israel as a state and has called for its complete destruction. As Israel is—understandably—not going to eliminate itself in an attempt for peace, it is left with no options other than military retaliation in order to persuade Hamas to cease its terrorism.

Many people have protested Israel’s actions, arguing that its military response has been disproportionate. With all due respect, they are dead wrong. Would it be preferable if Israel fired several rockets into homes in Gaza every day without giving warning, like Hamas? After all, Hamas has not demonstrated much concern for Israeli civilians; in fact, it has repeatedly and indiscriminately fired rockets at Israeli settlements on undisputedly Israeli territory. If Israel were to do the same to Gaza—which it most assuredly has not—then it would be condemned in nearly every corner of the world. But Hamas, a radical terrorist group devoted to the overthrow of a legitimate state, apparently gets a free pass.

“Many individuals, private organizations and national governments have repeatedly called on Israel to stop its military operations in Gaza. But where were the calls for peace when Hamas fired 771 rockets and 857 mortar-bombs at Sderot and the Negev from June 2007 to February 2008? Where were the calls for a cessation of violence when Hamas broke last year’s cease-fire? It is high time for the international community to draw the line on Hamas’ destructive behavior and realize that, until Hamas is out of power, Israel will be left with no other option than to defend its mere existence.”

  59. chi chi

That is why Hillary Clinton supports Israel like her husband, and O is learning…..

This is what O’s Secretary of State said in part (from her confirmation hearing):

She emphasized, however, that the United States “cannot negotiate with Hamas” until the group recognizes Israel, renounces violence and pledges to abide by past agreements.

“That is just … an absolute for me,” Clinton said. “That is the United States’ position and the president-elect’s position.”

“The president-elect and I understand and are deeply sympathetic to Israel’s desire to defend itself under the current conditions and to be free of shelling by Hamas rockets,” she noted. “However, we have also been reminded of the tragic humanitarian costs of conflict in the Middle East and pained by the suffering of Palestinian and Israeli civilians.”

There, Hillary made clear the president-elect’s position on this issue.

  60. bitchevil bitchevil

Tongue: Rockets against bombs (suspected chemicals), tanks, warplanes. 1,000 Palestinians dead against about 20 Israelis dead. I leave it to you to analyze.

  61. Thanks, TT and chi. I wonder how many parochial Pinoys realize the parallel political situations of Gazans and Filipinos – both are ruled by a selfish administration (damn the populace) but with a difference — the Gazans elected Hamas to rule them but it is uncertain if Pinoys elected their dumpy Chief Executive.

  62. bitchevil bitchevil

Hamas love and die for the Gazans while the Evil Bitch kills her own people.

  63. Tongue: Rockets against bombs (suspected chemicals), tanks, warplanes. 1,000 Palestinians dead against about 20 Israelis dead. I leave it to you to analyze.

The only analyses that can be drawn here is that the stupid Hamas and their dumb followers actually believe that by mere firing into the air of their rockets, Allah will guide these into Israeli homes. Everything they do is for Allah and whatever happens is the will of Allah. Gimme a break.

Do you know that this small non-state has even fought a civil war on its own people, prolly killing more of themselves than they had killed Jews?

These are not warriors, they are bungling amateurs whose best defense is being surrounded by women and children when cornered. They launch attacks from schools, mosques, hospitals, and tenements dense with old people, women and schoolchildren making it very, very difficult for Jews to strike back immediately. But when they do, civilian deaths are inevitable.

Arafat has agreed to the UN Security Council Resolution 242 which recognizes Israel’s right to exist in peace and security. But Hamas evicted Arafat and his Fatah by force all those years of talking peace down the drain in an instant.

Explaining all these is futile if one only wants to believe over-reaching over-simplistic twisted sophistry and fail to look at recent historical facts.

In case you still don’t get it by now, I said in the long comment that Israel already pulled out of Gaza and North West Bank and that was completed 2 years ago. Immediately thereafter Hamas resumed firing rockets which pushed the Jews into blockading the supply lines thinking it was a less violent way of isolating Hamas from its financiers and arms vendors. Did it deter Hamas? No.

Israel did give peace a chance. Now if they continue to be terrorized, and react the way they did to stop it, its because there are no remaining alternatives. Likewise, it’s the choice the Palestinians made for themselves, why should we even dare stop those who commit suicide by shielding their terrorists?

I agree with one article I read wherein the writer proposed that Israel instead train the Hamas in warfare, arm them with nukes so they stop being terrorists and fight a war like real men do.

  64. bitchevil bitchevil

Tongue, your one sided account of the Israel-Palestine conflict gives me the impression that your favorite soft drink is Mountain Jew.

Not all Hamas use the civilians as cover or hostages. Many Hamas married the locals. They’re part of the families. Assuming that the Hamas mix with the civilians, why would the Israeli soldiers still fire at them? This reminds me of one massacre incident in Korea during the Korean War when the GIs shot a group of civilians simply because they suspected a North Korean agent to be in the group.

  65. florry florry

Israel and Palestinians share the same small corner in that part of the world and should be living in peace together but unless they can live in peace together, they will be fighting forever. Israel has done her part by giving up Gaza but the Palestinians wanted the whole pie. Hamas provoked Israel and the operation of the later is not only justified but long overdue. There’s no denying that the situation is appalling, but in war collateral damage is a part of the equation and cannot be avoided, especially if the way the Hamas conducted their actions are considered. They aimed their rockets at civilians on the other side while they positioned and established themselves among citizens using them as human shields putting them in extreme danger in case of Israelis attack. Israelis always go into great lengths to advise civilians at the other side by dropping leaflets of an impending attack to leave the target area of the operation.

Israel is not interested in re-occupying Gaza. Its main goal is to eliminate the threat of being a rocket target by the Hamas. The missiles used have been upgraded from the previous. What if the Hamas acquire more sophisticated missiles that can reach the main cities like Tel Aviv? Life could be hard and impossible for the Israelis. So they have to act before it gets to that point.

Hamas is not only the party who is at war with Israel. How can they procure thousands of rockets, arms and ammunitions without the financial backing of other countries? The Arab and Muslim worlds really have no desire to establish an independent state for the Palestinians. Their interest is for a stateless Jews, to entirely erase from the map of the world the state of Israel. This is a no secret aim of Syria and Iran, the financiers and paymasters of the Hamas.

  66. luzviminda luzviminda

This conflict in this part of the world, Israel against its pro-Muslim neighbors is maybe the sign of the coming end-times. I agree with Tounge that Israelis should also defend themselves. But we should read and analyze not only history but also what is already written in the Bible. We better prepare also our souls, in case this conflict is really the start of the end. God Bless Us All!

  67. bitchevil bitchevil

I’m a Christian and not a Muslim. My observation is that the Muslims are so much persecuted. We blame them for their works of converting people to Islam; but the same is true for Christians trying to evangelize the world. It’s not exactly correct that Israel is not interested in re-occupying Gaza. If you have read AdeBrux’s post, Gaza is sitting on gas…look at the gas trail. Israel believes they are the chosen people; so they have the biblical right to rule the world. Luzviminda was correct in mentioning the biblical prophecy. The Bible says that in the last days, there will be wars and rumors of wars. The Second Advent of Christ is indeed very near.

  68. bitchevil bitchevil

And do you believe in Apostasy? In the Christian era, Israel is no longer God’s nation. When Jesus Christ lived on the earth He organized His church and called apostles to lead and teach the people. Christ gave His apostles the authority to act in His name, to perform baptisms, to heal the sick, and to proclaim His gospel. After Christ’s death, resurrection, and ascension to heaven, His apostles continued to teach His doctrine and direct His Church by receiving revelation from Christ. After His apostles were killed, people began to change His teachings, and although some truth remained, there was a general falling away from the truth, called the apostasy, and Christ’s church was taken from the earth.

I’m neither pro-Israel nor pro-Hamas. I am for life, and I support the Palestinians who are refugees in their own land. Israel should demolish the walls the Israelis built to starve the Palestinians. They should be allowed to rebuild their nation and live in peace.

  71. Tongue:

You bet, the Hamas are terrorists. A lot of my Palestinian friends do not actually support them. Unfortunately, the wrong move by the Israelis of late has caused a lot many of them to take the Hamas’ side especially with their families, friends and kin among the victims of these attacks by Israel.

Hamas is an insane organization. Hamas leaders and their adult ninjas covering their faces be the ones to strap dynamites around their waistlines and detonate themselves instead of brainwashed children!

Suicide bombers who had been successful in detonating themselves within Israel’s confines blew themselves not in military installations, BUT within the civilian populace, always killing innocent civilians and children. So I’d say, give and take.

The land is own by the Palestinians and it was the British who gave part of it the Israelites then forming the state of Israel. Sounds like Sabah ? It was also the Brits who rented out Sabah from the Philippines but later gave it to Malaysia.

    This is especially for dandaw:

As we look forward to a new administration, we will never forget the eight years of George W. Bush. GWB has been synonymous with governing by the incompetent, unqualified and clueless, looking for direction from conservative think-tanks whose emphasis was loyalty first and expertise second. Contempt for expertise is the blueprint for these nincompoops who were birds of the same feather, and together they brought down the country.

In brief, not only did he leave the country in tatters, he also destroyed the economy with his lavish spending, from the sleazy contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan to his generous tax cuts for the rich. When he came to office, there was over $300 billion surplus, which became a $200 million deficit the following year due to $1.3 trillion in tax cuts. His choice as his party’s candidate was one of the party’s worst mistakes, to his administration’ s failure in governing, to shrinking the GOP number as a result of racial backlash and the politics of divisiveness.

Part of the reason of the ongoing conflict in the Palestine is the Unmoderated Hatred between these Two People, especially their moronic Leaders, who most of them are enjoying their Lavish Lifestyle while their people are dying and some are accumulating wealth from the blood of their their own people…they are not different….

  86. vic vic

And here another solomonic decision from the 3 panel Justices of the court of appeal…

Police has no power to search property (car, residence,) and evidence found during search without justified reason is not admissible in court..here is another decision just brought down yesterday:

Federal prosecutors have failed to persuade the Ontario Court of Appeal the presence of toy guns inside a vehicle should be grounds for a police search.

The case involves John Aselford, who was driving home with friends in his pickup truck in July 2003 when he was pulled over by police in Bells Corners, near Ottawa.

The Crown argued police were justified in stopping Aselford and searching his truck for “safety” reasons after discovering several spring-powered toy Airsoft guns inside.

During the search, officers found bags containing nearly 300 grams of marijuana. Aselford was acquitted of drug charges in 2007 by a judge who didn’t believe Const. Shelley Pender’s claim that, at the precise moment she pulled the guns forward to inspect them, a bag of drugs fell to the floor.

On appeal, federal prosecutors Rod Sonley and Rosemarie Fincham argued that a Supreme Court decision two years ago involving a gun call at a Brampton strip club confirmed police can search cars and their occupants for weapons if public safety is at risk.

In this case, it was because officers had been responding to a report of a gunshot in the area and it was possible Aselford might have also had real guns in his truck, they argued.

But Jonathan Dawe and Karen Ann Reid, Aselford’s lawyers, said the Supreme Court ruling didn’t provide police with “untrammelled detention powers every time a gun or gunshot is reported.”

In a brief written judgment released yesterday, a three-judge appeal panel said the problem with the Crown’s submission is that Pender herself indicated her safety wasn’t at risk and she didn’t need to keep searching “once she knew that the guns in the back seat were toys.”

  87. Chi,
I believe that while it is not too far-fetched that Dubya may have had a hand in approving this or at least had prior knowledge of the surge in new offensives, we seem to be forgetting that this was triggered by the attempt by Hamas to kidnap Israeli soldiers on the border gates 3 or 4 weeks ago. Many Pinoys didn’t notice that; perhaps, due to their shopping sprees in preparation for the birthday celebrations of that one very special Israelite – Jesus Christ.

That’s why I find it funny that there are these leftist morons who were protesting in front of the US embassy. Why don’t they do that instead in the embassy of Israel?

  88. On Bush’s messing Obama’s inauguration, if there is such a plan, the Israel issue is not included. Remember, the first person Obama named to his team is his soon-to-be Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, a Jew! What does that say about Obama’s future relations with Palestine and Israel? Not much change there, from my point of view. But I believe he will help settle things differently, maybe in a subtler less violent way than the war mongering dynamic dodos Bush-Cheney did.

  89. vic vic

TonGue and the Protests over here and in Montreal turned into nothing but anti-semitic rhetoric among the Jews haters instead of protesting the conflicts and the actual happenings in their homelands..and it is only adding flames to the already burning houses…

Thanks, Tongue. Just wanted to confirm if my hunts are same as yours as “this was triggered by the attempt by Hamas to kidnap Israeli soldiers on the border gates 3 or 4 weeks ago.”

I believe Dubya has approved it but not to disrupt Barack’s inauguration.

Sa Amerika, kung tapos na ang botohan ang president-elect ay nirirespeto ng kapwa niya pangulo, they are statesmen and truly love their country. No question about that.

  91. Somebody said that the foundation of Islam is built on shifting sand. What our old testament teaches us is that Abraham was “tested” by God to sacrifice Isaac to prove his faith. Islam changed the characters to Abraham and Ismail and used that story to justify sacrificing the lives of children in their pursuit of heavenly rewards. Present teachings or brainwashing of children as trueblue said is very much standard practice among fundamentalist clerics. Which method terrorist groups use to exploit devout Muslims into being martyrs and suicide bombers or that on a given signal, Palestinian children rush to the rooftops of buildings about to be bombarded by the Jews. You can find the video regarding this on CNN and YouTube, also Gaza mosques that serve as launching pads surrounded by women to enable missile and rocket shooters to escape by wearing women clothes and face covers should Jewish soldiers arrive. Isn’t that lame? And they call themselves warriors?

  92. Chi,
That’s why however much people hate the person of Bush, there is still much respect for the office which he serves. And we Pinoys generally can just watch in envy how things happen in the States. How mistakes can be corrected and problems solved when the citizens demand for it.

    Vic,
Just what I thought. And everywhere else it’s all anti-semitic rhetoric that is fed by their victim mentality which they had been taught allows them exclusive privilege to kill innocent civilians and die they should just to erase Israel from the map. Isn’t that insanity?

Chi – TT pretty much elaborated on your inquiries. Whatever Israel does needs extreme consultation with the White House, so in essence, Bush had his hands on this mess.
It’s not a distraction however, to the Obama swearing in.

The Gas Reserves is controlled by some entities of Britain, Lebanon, and Palestine. For me, Israel just didn’t want Hamas to have a strangle hold of the gas reserves and use it’s proceeds to buy more weapons and upgrade it’s weaponry.
You give Hamas 4billion dollars right now – can people here honestly say Hamas will use it to improve their lives? The answer is resounding NO! Hamas will use donations from Lebanon, Syria, and Iran to sabotage Israel any which way it can. Jordan and Egypt recognized Israel’s existence so why can’t the other hostile neighbors give in for the sake of peace and long lasting life in the region.

As far as being being pro-Obama, I’m a pragmatist and independent so I’m at will to go on attack mode as I see fit. McCain was just the wrong candidate for me and his campaign were just laced with negativism. I’d like to see Bobby Jindal run in 2016, Obama broke the race barrier, so I can see him claiming the White House also.

Hamas has all the chance to live in prosperity – they opted not to. I for one cannot imagine living in an environment like that, we only live once.

The conflict between Israel and Palestinians have been going on for centuries. If you don’t believe in biblical prophecy, then I’m sure you accept the historical facts. How to solve the problem is a one million question. If it could be solved, it would have been done long ago. For whatever motive each side has, we cannot erase the fact that there are foreign countries behind these two warring groups just like what happened and are happenings to other parts of the world.

I also agree that it’s not a distraction to the Obama swearing in next Tuesday. If the Evil Bitch attends, then that would be a distraction.

Stop the U.S.-backed genocidal Israeli war on Gaza!

    • Nearly a thousand women, men and children killed by U.S.-made Israeli bombs
    • Thousands more wounded
    • 1.5 million under siege for the past 18 months, without food, water, medicine, fuel
    • Collective punishment for resisting occupation; emergency aid blocked
    • Massive violations of international law
    • Apartheid wall
    • Racist oppression
    • Homes and land stolen
    • Forced into refugee camps
    • 60 years of occupation, from the river to the sea

    We Say Enough!

    We Are
    Jews in Solidarity with Palestine

No to Israel! Yes To Self-Determination, Democracy & Freedom!
Stop U.S. Funding of the War on Palestine!

The whole world is horrified by the murderous Israeli assault against the suffering people of Gaza. From Seoul to Caracas, from Johannesburg to Amman to London, millions of people have poured into the streets to demand an end to this genocidal campaign, which is funded by the United States and carried out with U.S.-supplied weaponry.

There have also been protests in U.S. cities. While most of those marching are Arab-Americans, many African Americans, Latinos, Asian-Americans and whites have joined in. Many Jewish people, outraged at Israel’s war crimes and anguished that they are carried out in their name, are speaking out.

It’s good that Jewish people of conscience are disassociating themselves from the Gaza aggression. But it’s not enough. This atrocity is only the latest, and it’s no aberration. It reflects the program of the Israeli settler state—which is based on the theft of Palestine, the ouster and suppression of the Palestinian people, and the racist ideology of Zionism—and of its primary sponsor, the Pentagon and U.S. business establishment.

It’s not enough to oppose the bombing. It’s not enough to demand an end to the 41-year occupation of Gaza and the West Bank. We stand in complete and unconditional support for the self-determination of the Palestinian people. This includes the right to return to Palestine, from the river to the sea, and the right to democratically determine the form and the future of the Palestinian state.

Nothing less will undo the historic crime of al Nakba—the 1948 catastrophe of the establishment of the state of Israel based on the ouster of the Palestinian people from their homeland, oppression and inequality.

That crime betrayed the whole history of the Jewish people. From helping topple the czar in Russia and build the unions in New York, to resisting pogroms and fighting to the last breath in the Warsaw Ghetto, opposition to persecution, oppression and racism was central to the Jewish heritage.

We call on Jewish people around the world, including those inside Israel, to join us in reclaiming that heritage. Reject racism and genocide. Reject the Zionist state, the very concept of which is racist to the core. Take the hand of our Palestinian sisters and brothers. Defend their righteous struggle to restore their stolen land and build a democratic Palestine.

This is not an impossible quest. Remember how mighty the settler state in South Africa seemed, only a little over two decades ago? The racist regime there was buttressed by U.S.—and Israeli—support. But it was battered by the unstoppable political and military struggle against apartheid, which gained worldwide support. Apartheid fell, replaced by a new state based on legal equality.

A future of equality for all is possible in Palestine too. Until this future is won, the Palestinian struggle will go on. We stand with that struggle.

A miniature lists of US born residents. I’d love to see all the above people move to Israel immediately and see/feel for themselves how it’s like to be rained on by rockets anytime of day, weeks, or months.

This reminds of the Halsema Highway of the Cordilleras who was supposedly built by Gluerrila’s father (I laughed…) and she bragged about it. Anyways, professional Engineers of the region made all the effort to collect signatures to find out what happened to almost one Billion Pesos to fix damn road, heck, the highway has been dilapidated since I opened my eyes in this world. The usual finger pointing erupted. Ebdane got involved. The goal was to collect I believe 1000 or 2000 sigs. The signatories were less than 200 if I remembered correctly. GUESS WHAT!? Majority of the sigs came from US, UK, Canada, Australia, – in short, abroad people and those from the US, their names came with what state they’re from, their names were published in the local papers, they were so delighted to see their names, who knows, some must had some orgasms (no pun intended. They Were All Worried About that Freaking Road!

That’s what that list above tells me, sort of showing off or at best showboating.

  106. I’d rather listen to my Palestinian friends, who are grateful indeed for the cellphones as they are able to connect with their families in Gaza. From them, I get first-hand information on the real situation there rather than depend on US propaganda.

As to the Israelis instigating this war to stop the Palestinian threat, I don’t buy it especially when I think of the Palestinians being refugees in their own land. I don’t think it was part of the deal God made with Israel or Abraham.

I actually support the protest against the building of the walls to bar the Palestinians from entering Israeli territories, even those originally belonging to the Palestinians, ala-Berlin wall. They should be demolished soon.

dizonlea plus bloggers who are anti-Israel:

    Rationalize my analogy which I’ll picture in this manner;

Hamas lobbed thousands of rockets into Israel but I will lower those figures to a mere 300 rockets for arguments sake. Let’s say 300 rockets landed on houses with an average of two children and husband/wife Israelis per household were all killed. That’s 600 children and 600 adult civilians. You cannot debate and say “well, there’s no casualties in reality” so no harm done. Such inference in this situation won’t fly.
I’ll take the argument further and infused those killed by those random-rockets firing were Palestinian workers returning home to Gaza – would you call these killings “genocidal attacks”?

  113. bitchevil bitchevil

What’s your basis for arriving at a conclusion that the Hamas lobbed 300 rockets? Did you count it? What’s 300 rockets compared to hundreds of bombs that were suspected to carry poisonous chemicals? What’s 300 rockets compared to fighter jets and tanks attacking Gaza and Israelis’ ground troops entering Gaza? What’s 20 Israelis killed compared to over 1,000 Palestinians killed who were mostly civilians? Think about it, pro-Israel bloggers.

Who are the real terrorists in the Holy Land?
    AS I WRECK THIS CHAIR
    By William M. Esposo
    Philstar: January 11, 2009

I believe it was the “Fiddler on the roof” character of Rev Tevye who commented that the Jewish adherence to the doctrine of “An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth” will lead the whole world to be blind and toothless.

Like us and other nationals, the Jews are also a people with glaring contradictions. All people — no different from individuals — have their good and dark sides.

In the case of the Jews, their docile and sheep-like willingness to march to the Nazi gas chambers contrasted with the intransigence and belligerence of the Jews in the Middle East these past decades. If the 6 million or so Jews that the Nazis murdered during World War II resisted like the defenders of Masada, the Nazis might have reconsidered and abandoned the Jewish genocide.

During the Nazi Holocaust in Europe, there was only one attempt by the Jews to put up a fight. Other than that, they went to their death like sheep meekly marching to the slaughter house.

Maybe it was that sorry episode of their contemporary history that compels the Jews today to resort anew to what the Old Testament prescribed as “An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.” However, as seen in the recent Gaza overkill — the Jews (Israelis) have really exceeded themselves. From being the David in the Middle East fighting the Arab Goliaths surrounding them, the Israelis have been acting like the Goliath trying to bully the Palestinian David.

There is no denying the Israelis their right to defend their communities from Palestinian rocket attacks. However, what the Israelis are doing lately is hurting innocent civilians more than the combatants. The Israelis have become worse terrorists than the Palestinians they brand as terrorists.

  118. dizonlea dizonlea

    tru blue,
the end does not justify the means especially on non-combatant innocent individuals

  119. tru blue tru blue

dizonlea – Harsh reality is ALL WARS are ugly. Civilians including children will always be caught in the crossfires and there is no denying that. Check History 101, all the wars in this world.

BE – we’re in the North Pole and its freezing cold. You insist it’s warm but I’d say otherwise. It’s unfortunate that our compasses are opposites in this discussions.

    >>What’s your basis for arriving at a conclusion that the Hamas lobbed 300 rockets? Did you count it?<< This is the problem amongst commenters when what you say get’s twisted.
    “I said for arguments sake”.

But since you’re up to the tee – how’d you yourself came up with 20 Israelis killed and over 1,000 Palestinians who were mostly civilians?? My figures were only for debate but yours seemed actual numbers so you must be the one counting.

There is saying that goes like this: “The last word in an argument is what a WIFE says. Anything a HUSBAND say after that is the beggining of another argument”. Cheers and goodhealth to all.

  120. That’s the problem when you debate with people whose memories are shorter than four weeks. And those who try their chances by pulling up arguments fished from Google and forget to use simple common sense.

Is anyone here foolish enough to believe that Israel (of for that matter, any other country) can finish a war by hitting pure combatants only? Can anyone here supply weapons that can single out a soldier from a civilian crowd? Why were such weapons as tanks, cannons, mortars, rockets, and missiles invented? Because nothing in war is ever accurate. And it is complicated further because one faction choose to hide behind its civilians while launching missiles shot on a prayer. It does not help that rockets and missiles are fired deliberately from civilian buildings knowing fully well that enemy sattelites are marking them as retaliatory targets.

The US finished Pacific-side World War II by dropping two ATOMIC BOMBS on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. It killed millions, for chrissakes! The number of combatants then was negligible. 95% were innocent civilians. Hordes of people die of cancer in those cities to this day.

But no-fuckin-body protested! The Americans were hailed as heroes, the Pinoys were part of the revelry. And guess what, the Japanese are now America’s BFF.

In Gaza, at the worst, only 50% of those killed were Hamas, the rest were family and many innocent victims, too.

Now why are Filipinos suddenly so concerned about the Palestinian civilian victims? Aha! Because we did not experience Palestinian violence at all, unlike that which the Japanese dealt our parents and grannies in the Forties.

So now Israel’s immediate neighbor is governed by a terrorist government whose charter includes elimination of every Jew in the planet. The Palestinians voted them to office, this is their conscious decision to be governed by leaders who would not recognize any peace effort by the other side and continue to kill Jewish people at all cost until they are all dead and gone.

Israel was stupid in thinking that pulling out of Gaza would plant the seeds of peace. Instead, rockets and mortars rained in Southern Israel immediately afterwards and for 18 months, Hamas booby-trapped the City and dug tunnels crisscrossing Rafah for smuggglers of weapons coming from Egypt which all landed on Israel’s CIVILIAN settlements. Friggin Palestinians were hungry and needed medicines but look what their officials were wasting their money on! Rockets, mortars and missiles!

“But where were the calls for peace when Hamas fired 771 rockets and 857 mortar-bombs at Sderot and the Negev from June 2007 to February 2008?”. BOMBS WERE FIRED ABOUT FIVE TIMES EACH DAY! Israelis in these areas have to stop whatever they are doing in their workplace, schools, offices, homes, the moment the sirens blared each time rockets and mortars left Gaza. They alight from their cars and hide, they rush off to their basements, hide under school desks, etc. and live in constant fear. Would the Israel government allow its citizens to continually live this way? Would you allow luck to dictate your fate, if you were an Israelite?

And then the border kidnapping happened.

Well, I don’t mind repeating these facts over and over just to educate those who who badly need it. People do get emotional the moment dead children, hundreds of them, are paraded before Western media. Sometimes the emotions get the better of people.

  121. hKofw hKofw

I agree with Tounge, 100% Indeed so many palestinian people were blinded by the teachings and ideologies passed to them by their extremist leaders. Why Israels’ allies specially the US became so great? Why all who cursed Israel seemingly themselves were cursed? Sadly to know some here are claiming they are Christian or pro-God. But their writings here say otherwise. Though they are not so vocal in this conflict, true Christians around the world are one in supporting Israel. For they know when they do that they will be blessed. I will support Israel for sure. It is God who commanded it.

“I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you, and make your name great. You will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. All of the families of the earth will be blessed in you.”
    – Gen. 12:2-3

It’s easier to count dead bodies than the number of rockets. Besides, the media reported the figures of those killed. This debate about Israel is never ending just like the conflict between Israel and Palestine. So what if you’re in North Pole? That’s why your brain is frozen.

Thank God there is Google that we can fish, instead of murky information coming from Western controlled CNN, Fox News, BBC, ABC, etc….

Excerpts from Iran President’s UN speech:

“After September 11, a particular radical group was accused of terrorist activities — although it was never explained how such huge intelligence gathering and security organizations failed to prevent such an extensive and well planned operation……..”

“People around the world are fully aware of what is happening in the occupied Palestine. Women and children are being murdered and adolescents taken prisoner. Houses are being demolished and farms burnt down. Yet, when the people of Palestine resist these conditions, they are accused of terrorism. At the same time, the occupier, which does not abide by any principles and terror is part of its pronounced and routine policy enjoys the support of the previously mentioned governments. Let me be blunter. State terrorism is being supported by those who claim to fight terrorism……”

“We have gathered here to defend human rights in accordance with Charter of UN and prevent certain powers from claiming that “some countries have more rights “or that” some countries do not have the right to enjoy their legitimate rights”. “We must not, at the beginning of the 21st century, revert to the logic of the dark ages and once again try to deny societies access to scientific and technological advances”.

  124. Ah, so we dismiss reports from CNN, Fox News, BBC, ABC, etc, for being “murky” and embrace Ahmedinejad’s speech as gospel truth? “Women and children are being murdered…” – oh what a stretch! Parang si Philip Cezar.

If there’s a library near your place, go visit. DRINKING from the fountain of knowledge does wonders. Mere GARGLING doesn’t.

  125. The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al Husseini, spoke together with Hitler on Berlin Radio in 1942. He cried out: “Kill the Jews – kill them with your hands, kill them with your teeth – this is well pleasing to Allah.”

  126. Contrary to Palestinian propagandists’ claim that the Arab attacks on Israel started only after WWII in 1948 or the year the State of Israel was born, the first recorded Palestinian attack against the Israeli state was made in Petah Tikvah, now Israel’s second biggest industrial city, as far back as March 1, 1886. In 2002, Arafat’s Fatah claimed the suicide bombing of an ice cream parlor in Petah Tikvah where BABIES and CHILDREN died or were hurt.

Even prior to 1886, Jews have been killed, massacred, arrested, expelled, converted, or persecuted in many, many parts of the world including the more advanced countries of Europe.

  135. bitchevil bitchevil

Israeli troops assaulted Gaza from land, air and sea on Saturday as the Jewish state said it was close to reaching its goals and its powerful security cabinet prepared to vote on a unilateral ceasefire.

Despite weeks of heavy fighting in which more than 1,200 Palestinians have been killed, Hamas vowed to fight on until all Israeli forces withdraw from the battered enclave and open its border crossings.

Israeli warships and tanks, dug in on the outskirts of Gaza City, kept lobbing shells into the densely populated urban area, while to the north in Beit Lahiya a UN-run school was set ablaze by bombs.

A woman and a child were killed and another dozen people wounded in the attack, in which burning embers rained down on a school where some 1,600 people were sheltering, setting parts of the building alight.

Chronology: Which Side Violated the Israel-Gaza Ceasefire?
The Evil Bush Administration/Jewish Zionist and The New York Times v. Amnesty International
    By Howard Friel

    July 4, 2008

A humanitarian crisis is engulfing Gaza-not the result of a natural disaster but entirely man-made and avoidable.

    August 14, 2008

Some 400 Palestinian students may lose their university places and scholarships unless the Israeli authorities allow them to leave the Gaza Strip before the new academic year, which starts in the next few weeks.

    August 15, 2008

Amnesty International has described as scandalous the Israeli army’s account of firing a tank shell that killed Reuters cameraman Fadel Shana as a “sound” decision.

    August 22, 2008

With the exception of Karima Abu Dalal (who was finally able to leave Gaza through an exceptional arrangement via the border with Egypt after many months’ delay to her treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma) all the critically ill patients named above are still being denied permission to leave Gaza for treatment abroad.

    August 27, 2008

With Gaza locked down and cut off from the outside world by a stifling Israeli blockade, 46 peace activists from the world over set sail for Gaza on 22 August

    August 29, 2008

The Israeli authorities are still denying scores of critically ill patients the authorization they need to leave Gaza for medical treatment that is unavailable in Gaza.

    October 16, 2008

The children named above [ages 5 months, 1.2 years, 1.2 years, 1.5 years, 5 years, and 6 years] suffer from serious heart conditions including congenital heart defects commonly known as holes in the heart.

    November 5, 2008

A spate of Israeli and Palestinian attacks and counter-attacks in the past 24 hours could spell the end of a five-and-a-half-month ceasefire. This would once again put the civilian populations of Gaza and southern Israel in the line of fire.

    November 14, 2008

The Israeli army has completely blocked the delivery of urgently needed humanitarian aid and medical supplies to the Gaza Strip for more than a week.

    November 17, 2008

The Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip has caused a further deterioration in the humanitarian situation, health and sanitation problems, as well as extreme poverty and malnutrition.

    November 17, 2008

The Israeli army allowed a limited number of trucks carrying humanitarian assistance into Gaza for the first time in two weeks on Monday.

    December 5, 2008

The Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip is having ever more serious consequences on its population.

    December 28, 2008

Amnesty International has called on Israeli forces and Palestinian armed groups to immediately halt the unlawful attacks carried out as part of the escalation of violence which has caused the death of some 280 Palestinians and one Israeli civilian since December 27.

“Such disproportionate use of force by Israel is unlawful and risks igniting further violence in the whole region,” said Amnesty International.

This latest Israeli onslaught brings the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces this year to some 650, at least a third of whom are unarmed civilians, including 70 children. In the same period, Palestinian armed groups have killed 25 Israelis, 16 of them civilians, including four children.

Did you see that Bitch. Never trust the HAMAS! They act like they’re tough but hide and cry under their mama’s skirts.

What I’d like Israel do is to drop leaflets to Gaza which says: “Remember Nagasaki and Hiroshima – It’s coming!” It’s undiplomatic but times are tough and volatile in that region – Hamas shenanigans need to be stopped.

  140. “‘Such disproportionate use of force by Israel is unlawful and risks igniting further violence in the whole region,’ said Amnesty International.”

Hahaha! Pure, unadulterated Arabian camel manure! Finally, the smoking gun of Amnesty International’s long-suspected stupidity is on the surface.

And firing rockets and missiles into Israel are “lawful” and does not “risk igniting further violence”?

When these self-righteous activists die, and I hope not from Hamas rockets, I’d like to go to their funeral but I’ll probably have to go to work that day. I believe in business before pleasure.

  141. Again look at the 2008 rundown prepared by utter one-sided Amnesty International as posted by Tilamsik.

Not one mention of any rocket or mortar attack until the Dec 28 entry. The article outrightly fails in the intellectual honesty department.

    From Mississippi to Gaza
    Killing Children With Impunity
    By Henry A. Giroux

January 14, 2009:The unsettling and deeply disturbing images of children in Gaza mutilated, bleeding, and dead evoke similar images from our collective memory. One such image is that of Emmett Till, whose body arrived home in Chicago in September 1955. White racists in Mississippi had tortured, mutilated, and killed the young 14-year-old African-American boy for allegedly whistling at a white woman. Determined to make visible the horribly mangled face and twisted body of the child as an expression of racial hatred and killing, Mamie Till, the boy’s mother, insisted that the coffin, interred at the A.A. Ranier Funeral Parlor on the South Side of Chicago, be left open for four long days. While mainstream news organizations ignored the horrifying image, Jet magazinepublished an unedited photo of Till’s face taken while he lay in his coffin. Shaila Dewan points out that “[m]utilated is the word most often used to describe the face of Emmett Till after his body was hauled out of the Tallahatchie River in Mississippi. Inhuman is more like it: melted, bloated, missing an eye, swollen so large that its patch of wiry hair looks like that of a balding old man, not a handsome, brazen 14-year-old boy.”

  143. And finally, for a full perspective of the beginnings and the effects of the Islamic-Zionist atrocities, UK’s Channel 4 and its brave reporter has this 30+ mins. video that digs deep into the origins of the conflict including interviews from UKs convicted Muslim cleric, the source of the Blood Libel, the document entitled The Protocols which Islamic terrorists regard as the tell-all of Israel’s evil plan for world domination, as well as interviews with little schoolchildren who have been abusively brainwashed and exploited by their elders into believing the lies that they wrongly attribute to Koran in order to fit their Anti-Semitic designs.

    This video says it all.

The streets of Gaza looked like killing fields in the midst of the worse stage. Israel is arrogantly ignoring the Security Council’s resolution calling for a cease-fire and is shelling the UN compound in Gaza, as if to show its real feeling toward that institution. Emergency supplies intended for Gaza residents are going up in flames in the burning warehouses. Thick black smoke is rising from the burning flour sacks and the fuel reserves near them, covering the streets.

In the streets, people are running back and forth in panic, holding children and suitcases in their hands, helpless as the shells fall around them. Nobody in the diplomatic corridors is in any hurry to help those unfortunates who have nowhere to run.

What an exchange! It was a very interesting exchange between
Tongue and Tilamsik on Israel-Palestine conflict. Even though I’ve made my position clear that Israel was the culprit, the above posts of Tongue have balanced my views…but just a bit.
For no matter what reason and excuse Israel gives, there’s no justification to attack civilians in Gaza. AdeBrux’s version of gas deposit about Gaza would be a more logical reason why Israel wanted to occupy the area. Of course with the backing of the West that graves for gas and oil during this time of global crisis.

I can’t help but to agree with Tilamsik that it’s all the works of Uncle Sam who for many times and decades used pawns to achieve what she wanted. The Vietnam War, Korea War, War with Japan, Africa, Middle East, Tibet…name all the wars and conflicts and you have Uncle Sam’s name printed all over. Americans are nice people. It’s the US foreign policy that sucks. Perhaps with the new Obama Administration, things would be a little different. America may be able to regain the trust and respect of the world. But…it’s MAYBE.

    # TonGuE-tWisTeD Says:

    January 18th, 2009 at 3:34 pm

Sorry, hindi pinayagan i-embed yung video. Now this is the link.

This explains why many children have been killed.

    http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=62e_1200989226

*****The video was vague. There was no evidence it was a school and even Palestinians who did the rocket launching. Are we sure those were rockets? It could be just fireworks and the guys were celebrating something. But anyway, just because three Palestinians fired rockets from a school building, It was okay for Israel to destroy the school building knowing there were school children inside. And by the way, rockets could only reach that far mostly on unpopulated southern Israel. On the other hand, Israel jets flew over Gaza skies and just dropped the bombs. Which has better target and was causing more damages to the people?

  150. By the way, I can understand why the pro-Taliban and pro-Hamas media machinery are continually dissing Fox and CNN. These friggin morons believed the Arabs’ lies that Ted Turner and Rupert Murdoch are Jews!

Fox’s Murdoch is Australian with British origin; his parents are Scottish and Irish royalty.

CNN’s Turner, the biggest landowner in the North America (1.9M acres in all) who is an all-American gigolo, is a Protestant.

  151. bitchevil bitchevil

But Tongue, we cannot erase the fact that the Jews control the business, economy, politics and media. They have the money and influence.

  152. Do you even know how big a Qassam rocket is to confuse it with fireworks? Check the picture in this page: http://factsofisrael.com/blog/index-fr.php While you are there, kindly watch the two videos. The second one also carries the same footage of the missile launching just outside the school. Any Gazan familiar with the site can confirm if it a school or not. The video has been on the net for years no one has contradicted the video to date. The crosshair in the video signifies that the camera was either satellite, drone or dirigible-mounted. Unlike some lies debunked by Israel here: http://www.mideast-archive.co.nr/

Who says Sderot or Negev is unpopulated? Where do you get your “facts”? In fact, Negev is home to Bedouins, Israeli citizens but Muslims. If you check with Google Earth, you will find that Sderot is a commercial-residential area. Hamas are just so damn backward, their rockets do not have guidance systems they do not hit the right spot.

Further, the way you describe dropping of bombs is like the way they used to in “ancient” WWII. Like the old movies where large Japanese planes continually drop hundreds of bombs? Nah.

Israel was using F16 Sufa and F15 Ra’am fighter planes armed with advanced homemade avionics and weapon systems (I believe, mostly ASRASM or AMRASM or Maverick type fire-and-forget Rockets) NOT BOMBER planes, in order to achieve pinpoint accuracy and minimize civilian damage. The fact that many civilians still died is proof that civilians WERE USED AS SHIELDS IN THE TARGET AREAS!

    Tongue-T
Why don’t you write a book about the Israeli and Palestinian conflict. From what I read from your postings you could write a best seller. Don’t waste your time argueing with Bitch. It’s fruitless. Make use of your talents. No one can ever convince a brain dead person.

  154. Money can only buy influence, control is a different thing. For example, Ahmedinejad now wants all the Arab nations to stop selling oil to the west. It didn’t fly, because Saudi rejected it immediately. They need their dollars today more than ever. Iran can afford to say that because the west doesn’t buy Iran oil anyway. That is money influence. The oil producing states are now ganging up on Israel and the US. And oil will be their weapon. I hope that instead of spending hundreds of billions in a non-productive space program, Barack Obama redirects the budget on alternative energy research – more efficient batteries, frictionless motors and affordable solar cells. Leave the moon to the Indians and Chinese and concentrate on the sun!

The Jews controlling business, economy, politics, and media is a sweeping generalization. But this you can be sure, those who wield influence in Bush’ regime were either his biggest political contributors or card-bearing partymates.

  155. Thanks Dandaw, but I’m an not arguing with bitche, I’m sharing my knowledge with him. We only use provoking language to keep it interesting or else we bore all the readers.

Dandaw, don’t persuade Tongue to write fiction. His book won’t sell.

I think those were fireworks. Some of the Palestinians are of Chinese origin and they’re celebrating Chinese New Year in advance.

Tongue, I always respect your opinion…but not that guy dandaw. He hates Obama and Democrats but I bet you he’s going to watch Obama’s inauguration at least on TV.

Be – you are right I won’t watch the innauguration. I will be on a business trip. I don’t know what hate is, my work takes me to deal with black, white, hespanics, asians and most of all dumdemos. Charity knows no bounds. Get it?

    The Myth of American Benevolence

This is the myth of special relations. For so many years we have been acting as if we were special favorites of America. we feel especially privileged because we have “special relations” with America and America has a special place for us in her heart.

Yet, this is not so; I even wonder if it has been so. let us remind ourselves of the bitter start of the American intrusion into our shores. Even then of course, words of great emotional appeal were used to disguise the truth. America had a “manifest destiny” to “civilize” us and teach us the ways of freedom and democracy.

Later developments suggest that this was not so, that America had ambitions to, in Asia, still has them, and that the Philippines was conquered by her to serve her own interests, certainly not those of our country. Similarly, America’s attitude towards Philippine independence followed the dictates of her own self-interest. her recognition of our independence became possible only as a result of the confluence of forces in America and these included the dairy industries, the sugar interests, American labor, etc., which wanted to deprive us of our preferred position in the American market because we were competing with their own interests.

This is why Nelson Mandela, the statesman of South Africa, was so right when he said the United States, under George W. Bush, is the real threat to the peace and security of the world. He tells us why: it is primarily because of the oil interests of the U.S.. Iraq has the second biggest oil reserves in the world, and American oil companies are itching to get in once Saddam is ousted from power. International Herald Tribune issue of Sept. 16, 2002 , cites a Washington Post article on its front page that says: “ A U.S.-led ouster of President Saddam Hussein could open a bonanza for American oil companies long banished from Iraq… American and foreign oil companies have already begun maneuvering for a stake in the country’s proven reserves of 112 billion barrels of crude oil, the largest in the world outside Saudi Arabia.”

  162. There is no debate that America’s contemporary foreign policy stinks, specifically as it relates to Third World, are dictated by its own selfish interest, and presumably for the benefit of its people, foremost, before that of any foreign state.

But tell me, which country’s diplomacy isn’t selfish? Oh well, maybe ours is an exception. Gloria volunteered to “share” Spratlys with the Gooks and the Chinks. She even tried to pull a fast one and give away a huge part of Mindanao to armed enemies of the state, which the our leftist radicals openly supported. (Salivating for the same scenario in their case?) Now you have an idea how ugly these fans of Mao Tse Tung look under all that veneer of patriotic, nationalistic crap.

Since when was voluntary giving up territory nationalistic? Cut me some slack, will you? Disabuse our minds, pretty please or better yet, disabuse those of your ideologues’.

To use the very words of Renato Constantino, “I vomit at your collective gall!”

  163. “No people can be both ignorant and free.” – Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)

Oh, I love that. You can only unshackle yourself if you can learn to accept the Truth, if you can educate yourself with what is Real, if you can practice Intellectually Honesty.

By the way, that was quoted by the father of Enlightenment, the advocate of religious freedom, and former president of, er, “Imperialist” America.

Mandela was so right when he said that of Bush, and almost everyone in America jumped at the pretext invading Iraq would ease the pains at the gas pumps. Well, guess what? Gas prices in the latter part of spring 2001 was hovering at $1.60 and $1.70 a gallon. Fast forward to year 2008, gas prices had gone ballistic to $5.00 a gallon. I ask you? Where’s the cheap oil between 2001 and 2008?

Flash news in America: Costs of eight years of GWB’s presidency – $11.5 TRILLIONS!!

    >For no matter what reasons and excuse Israel gives, there’s no justifications to attack civilians in Gaza< – BE

There will always be no justifications why Hamas continues to brainwash children, strap them with explosives, send them to Israel and blow themselves up killings civilians and their own children. Where’s the protests on this premise? Don’t be a one-way street.

Remember anti imperialism is not racism:

We Filipinos have no problem with individual Americans, most of whom are likeable and friendly. Our problem is with those in high positions of power in Washington who do not come up to the basic decency and the sense of fairness of ordinary Americans. Saan ka nakakita na lider ng most powerful na bansa binato ng sapatos? Binulok ng binulok ni Bush ang imahe ng Amerika unfair to ordinary ams.

Of course, the US, the only superpower in the world, has the capability to overthrow Saddam and dismantle his regime. But there is no principle or rule of international law nor any provision in the UN Charter that would allow the United States to bomb or invade another State due to a threat that may or may not materialize.

  167. tru blue tru blue

The UN had always been toothless when it comes to US policies. As long as Fat Men and Little Boys are safe and sound, US dominance over the UN thrives.

Anti-imperialism is not racism. Nationalists are not anti-American or anti-Japanese; they are only against those policies of governments that harm the interests of the Filipino people, policies which these governments pressure our government to adopt at dito nag uugat ang problema.

  175. Tilamsik Tilamsik

Nationalism is defensive, protective. Nationalists believe that the resources of our country should be for the benefit of our people today and in the future. Since our economy is increasingly being dominated by foreign corporations with the active intervention in their behalf of their governments, nationalism is necessarily anti-imperialist. This means primarily, American and Japanese imperialism though it includes the operation of other advanced countries as well.
