A simple request from climate-change concerned filmmaker

I got a letter from Katrina Encanto, who identified herself as an art director of JWT Manila. I suppose JWT is J Walter Thompson.

She said she needs support in terms of votes for short film she made which she entered in the Youtube Cannes Lions 48 Hour Ad Contest.

Katrina said, “To cast votes for this film, you would need to go to http://www.youtube.com/canneslions and search for “thecheshirecatgrin”, within the next 10 days or so.”

The link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PgN8ODFMQc . The idea here is that you can never understimate the power of a petition.

She said she made the film “to convince people to sign for action against Climate Change, particularly by getting world leaders to attend the UN Summit for Climate Change at Copenhagen in December, and agree on a deal that would help reverse the effects of climate change”

This is her film:

I would say that is a good act…by the way the city council of Toronto passed a resolution that starting June 1, all plastic bags used in Grocery Stores will carry a charge of 5 Cents, and encourage the residents to use re-usable bags for shopping..and also reminds the consumers to keep them in clean and germs free conditions. we already re-cycle all our recyclables by separating them in colour coded containers for Pick-up and me here decided to get a very fuel efficient car, supposed to, in its class. if each and everyone will do his or her little part, we can do a Lot…

    katrina:

talking of Government leading the way, we just replaced our heating and air-con to a more efficient models and we got a $2500 rebates from all levels of govenments including the utilities companies. and improving the efficiency of residence to save energy will also entitle homeowners to substantial rebates..like energy saving windows and insulations. even replacing old toilet and unit air con with new ones also carry rebates..of course its all our taxes, but the point is, the Leaders are putting them in good use.

I’m amazed kasi nga i have a 9-year old nephew at his young age ang bukang bibig love our nature, iwasang magkalat at magsunog ng basura especially yong plastics.

At his age he is so worried about people who destroy our kalikasan kaya happy ako may tulad mo na concern sa ating kalikasan.

Pagpalain ka at i will cast my vote kasi deserving kang Pinay.

    Mabuhay ka!

  5. vic,
I hope we in Pinas will get a rebate if we replace Gloria before May 2010. It will save the country billions in tongpats. I reckon we will have to place her in a black plastic bag for color-coding.

    Kat,
Will the number of hits determine who goes to Cannes? If that is so, don’t bother answering this post. Just go to your tube and keep pressing Refresh. Good luck.

  6. Ano nga ba yun, Mawanay’s expose. It was about cellphones, wasn’t it?

    hi ms. ellen…

the infamous, self-proclaimed police agent ador mawanay is a one-man demolition syndicate na nagpapabayad para manira ng kung sinong personalidad, naging bata siya ni col. corpuz, isafp na nagdawit kay sen. lacson sa di umanoy multi-million dollar bank account and later accused kingpin pidal as mastermind of demolition job and later also accused sen. legarda of acquiring almost Php9M worth of smuggled cellphones.

Vic – thank you for the information. Sometimes, incentives do work to motivate people. Much more it will benefit all of us.

Balweg – Maraming salamat! Please help me spread the word to others who believe in the cause as well.

Tongue-twisted – The number of hits is half the criteria. I guess it’s their way of stirring a lot of hype for Oxfam. Half will be judged by a creative panel. 🙂

    Maraming salamat sa suporta. 🙂

What I noticed was Obama signed as a young lady.

  12. Katrina Katrina

Haha. The idea is that you could never underestimate the power of a petition, Sir. If it matters to the people enough, then it should matter to their leaders as well. 🙂

  13. Don’t forget to click to the link to the video and vote for Katrina’s entry.

    Kat,

    Ganu’n pa rin, eh!

Anyhow, isigang na rin natin, I just hope and pray this timely endeavour of yours receive the much needed support from anywhere in the whole world.

    Mabuhay ka.

Let me correct your presumption on my gender and personality. Am not a lady, but not a real man. Am a macho during the whole day and transforming into a sexy lovely creature comes sunset.

May lahi kasi kaming bayakan, eh!

  19. Liwayway-Gawgaw Liwayway-Gawgaw

    Goldberg,

Bakit kaya ganito? Nangaglisaw ang mga buwaya sa katihan?

  20. Yes, Loren Legarda herself cannot claim to be clean. Mawanay once exposed her cell phone anomaly. Not only that, Loren is indebted to her colleague, Senator Angara. Angara has helped her financially including saving her ancestral home that was about to be mortgaged.

Paano yung 364 days at 23hours? Pati capitalist america tututol diyan. Pati mga sosyalistang bansa tututol din diyan. Lugi negosyo kasi eh!

  23. Golberg Golberg

I admire the concern of Katrina.
With this short film, try to watch also the movie “On deadly ground.” That movie is produced and directed by Steven Seagal. There you will see the common denominator of Katrina and Mr. Seagal.
