Presidential son Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo has failed to declare to the Commission on Elections contributions that he said he received when he ran for Congress in 2004 and 2007.
Mikey said on national television Tuesday that campaign contributions and wedding gifts were partly the reason his declared net worth ballooned from P5.7 million in 2001 to P74.4 million in 2004 and then to P99.2 million last year. Mikey wed his second cousin Angela Arroyo Montenegro in 2002.
The numbers say Mikey’s net worth grew by more than 1,600 percent in the seven years that he has been a public official. President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s eldest son, a one-time movie actor, became vice governor of Pampanga in 2001, and was elected congressman of the province’s second district in 2004 and 2007.
“Siyempre unang una, kinasal tayo. Medyo nagkaroon tayo ng maraming regalo. Tapos pag kampanya, siyempre kahit paano maraming tumutulong sa atin (Of course, first I got married. We received a lot of gifts. Then during campaigns, somehow we get contributions),” Mikey told Solita Monsod and Arnold Clavio, hosts of the morning show “Unang Hirit.”
But his statements of contributions and expenses for the last two congressional elections show zero donations to his campaign, which he reported as having been funded from his own pocket.

Don’t they have Political Fund Control Law in the Philippines that bans too excessive donations to campaigns especially by vested interests who contribute greatly to graft and corruption?
Over in Japan, the horsey son, for admitting that he used campaign funds for buying the house in Foster City, could be prosecuted, and if found guilty, could be send to prison and be fined, and his mother could be forced to step down.
In fact, Takanori Okubo, who served as chief accountant of the political body of ex-DPJ party leader Ichiro Ozawa, the Rikuzankai, was arrested for allegedly taking money from scandal-tainted Nishimatsu Construction Co.
Ozawa was in line to become prime minister if his party could win the next general election, which was be held on August 31st.
Rikuzankai allegedly got the funds from two groups headed by an ex-Nishimatsu official, breaking the political funds control law according to source.
Corporate donations are prohibited by law in Japan except to political parties or their organizations for managing political funds.
The law also prohibits donations made under the name of another person or body.
Why can’t they have such restrictive laws in the Philippines to prevent anyone from amassing such wealth and become as abusive as the Pidals? Ang bobo naman!
Kahit funds for other purposes than political campaigns, sinaswapang ni Gloria Kulimbat.
I remember the Coca-Cola donation supposedly for the Department of Education to be used for buying books for public school students amounting to millions, hindi nakarating. Rocco was then the EdSec, but he did not receive the fund that was reportedly siphoned to the private fundraiser based at the LTA Bldg. in Makati.
The donation amounted to a million pesos or more. Rumor has it that the Coke executive who discovered the scam was kidnapped and ordered “salvaged” to prevent her from exposing the creeps prior to election 2004.

Only real properties located in the Philippines classified as capital assets sold or disposed are subject to capital gains tax. Par. (D) Sec. 24 of the NIRC of 1997.

It is the company that owned the real estate properties ( palusot ni evil son), therefore, it is the company that should be liable for taxes on profits earned on the sale of the houses during the taxable year. As part owner, the evil son would receive income in a form of dividends/distribution of profits from all incomes earned by the company during the taxable year subject to final tax ( subject to witholding tax and need not be filed in the ITR). May dokumento ba siya dyan?
Anyway, according to the evil son part of his wealth were wedding gifts, were donor’s tax paid on such gifts? Kung wala buking.
