Sa paghirang ng kandidatura ni Teodoro para president sa 2010 na eleksyon, malabo na si Bise Presidente Noli de Castro na tatakbo. Baka bumalik na lang siguro siya sa pagka-brodkaster.

Noong Martes nga, sinabi ni Bayani Fernando,chairman ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority na siyang ka-kumpetensya ni Teodoro sa nominasyun ng Lakas, na mas malaki ang tsansa niyang manalo sa 2010 eleksyun kasi apat na posyento raw ang nakuha niya sa mga survey.
Kapag pa-andarin daw ang makinarya ng Lakas-Kampi-CMD, mag-mumultiply daw limang beses ang kanyang mahihilang boto. Kaya magiging 20 per cent na siya. Mga sampung milyun na boto raw yun. Kaya pwedeng siya na ang panalo dahil si Fidel ramos noon, ganun din lang ang nakuha niyang boto.
Si Teodoro naman, sabi ni Fernando, ay minus two per cent. Kahit daw i-multiply mo pa ng lima, one per cent pa rin lang ang mahihila niya.
Ngunit hind nawawalan ng pag-asa ang mga data ni Arroyo. Maari pa rin daw mananalo si Teodoro dahil sa “makinarya” nila.
Ano ba ang gagawin ng makinarya? Gagawa ng boto?
At teka nga, di ba dapat mag-resign na si Teodoro sa kanyang pagka-defense secretary para hindi magamit ang kanyang opisina sa kanyang kandidatura?
Dahil si Sen. Noynoy Aquino ang nangunguna ngayon sa survey at siya ay kabilang sa oposisyun maganda ang anggulo na ang laban ay Cojuangco versus Cojuangco. Si Cory, ang nanay ni Noynoy, ay Cojuangco. Ang nanay rin ni Gilbert ay Cojuangco. Tiyo ni Gilbert ang negosyante na si Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco.
Kaya laban na naman ng mayayaman. Ang pulitika kasi sa Pilipinas ay sobrang gastos. Para sa isang kandidato para president, kailangan may P3 bilyon ka. Kaya talagang ang mayayaman lang ang maaring kasali.
Wala namang masama sa mayaman. Kung sa maayos na paraan nai-pundar. Hindi sa pagnanakaw sa kaban ng bayan. At kung yun ay ginagamit para sa kabutihan ng karamihan.
Ano ba ang gagawin ng makinarya? Gagawa ng boto?

If they are not personally billionaires, they will have to source the billions somewhere else? From their supporters perhaps?
How many Filipino voters are there who could donate into the billions that a candidate expects to spend? I guess, even if 1 million voters avidly supporting a candidate will not total 1 billion pesos in campaign donations so where does or will a candidate get the rest?
From friends perhaps (like what some Erap die hard commenters here suggest)? One billion is a lot of money, let alone 3 billion pesos.
And will those friends not expect anything in return for those billions of “investment”?
I doubt it very much — I doubt that hard nosed businessmen (even if they are very very close, extremely close to a candidate) will put tens and tens, hundreds of millions into a candidate’s campaign kitty without strings attached, eg., govt contracts, govt largesse, govt whatever!
It is imperative that the Filipino voters demand of the candidates, primo: devulge sources of their campaign funds as they go along, secundo, publicly pledge that donors will not be given rewards, eg., juicy govt contracts, in “exchange” for donations (I do believe that businessmen donors have the right to participate in govt contract biddings on the condition that they not be given better “terms” than the other bidders), etc.
Good governance is difficult to achieve but it’s doable — Filipinos must be vigilant and must accept that there can not be double standards of honesty for any of the candidates.
Filipinos must remember that if a donor or financial supporter of a candidate “invests” in a candidate, that donor expects to get back his investment in one form or the other when the candidate wins.
And if the ROI is in terms of a juicy govt contract (that’s overpriced), the money for that contract is the Filipino taxpayers’ money, public money, the nation’s money, hence it is he/she/Filipino voters will be paying the ROI eventually.
It is double jeopardy for voters and Pinoys in general. Firstly, they are being crapped on the heads, dinadaya sila; secondly, for every cent of ROI that’s given to that donor/investor by way of overpriced, or juicy contracts, that’s money being taken away from another govt or publicly-funded project that perhaps should be destined instead to take care of your children’s education, health, security, etc.
