‘Political prostitution’

Loren Legarda
Loren Legarda
The sordid description was supposed to refer to the votes of the 12 senators who cleared Sen. Manny Villar wrongdoing in the C-5 road extension project but Senator Jamby Villar zeroed in on colleague Loren Legarda who announced today her team-up with Villar for the 2010 elections.

“I congratulate Mr. Villar for his fantastic lobbying in turning someone like Senator [Loren] Legarda, who was rabidly against him into his girl Friday. As they say, Manny talks and money talk louder,” said Madrigal in a statement sent from Europe.

Added Madrigal: “I will not subscribe to political prostitution when the country’s interest is at stake. Public service is not a numbers game.”

Legarda was among the 12 senators (Aquilino Pimentel, Alan Peter Cayetano, Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, Gregoriio Honasan, Joker Arroyo, Miriam Santiago, Ramon Revilla Jr., Jinggoy Estrada, Loren Legarda, Francis Pangilinan and Villar) who signed the resolution, expressing the sense of the Senate to dismiss the complaint and clear Villar of alleged acts of disorderly behavior.

The signing by Legarda of the resolution was a complete turnabout because she had supported the Senate investigation into the controversy.

Legarda also voted for the ouster of Villar as senate president. Yesterday, she said, ““In this afternoon, on this glorious afternoon, I cast my lot with Manny Villar. I believe our partnership will ensure a new beginning for all the Filipino people.”

Asked about reports that Villar must have given her the amount of P300 million to P500 million that she asked but failed to get from Nationalist People’s Coalition colleague Sen. Francis Escudero before he bolted the party, Legarda said her choice of Villar was based on “common platforms.”

“We believe we can make a difference in the lives of Filipinos. That is why today, in declaring my intention to vie for vice presidency in May 2010, I offer myself to the Filipino people as other half to the tandem that seeks a new beginning for the Filipino nation,” Legarda said.

Legarda who belongs to the Nationalist People’s Coalition made the announcement at Nacionalista Party’s headquarters, the old Laurel house in Shaw Blvd, Mandaluyong.

For his part, Villar said the partnership was not politics-driven but was motivated by “a common vision for the country.”

Manny Villar), “they say there is one golden rule. He who has the gold rules.”

  1. Gosh, she is impossible! And to think I contributed and pressured “friends” to contribute to her 1st senatorial election.

No wonder Victor Corpuz labeled her a “Wxxrx”. (Trust that double-crossing treasonous ex-tactical chief of Joma’s National People’s Army to know what that means — someone like him who sells to the highest bidder.)

  5. “We believe we can make a difference in the lives of Filipinos” — Loren Legarda

Of course, you rambling female idiot! You and that thick-faced thief and real estate cheat you are now sleeping with would do anything to rob the State of billions by inserting ghost “lines” in the budget for funding!

After you milked old Tony Leviste, who was old enough to be your father, of every cent he owned, got him to put his Forbes Park house in your name, used the poor sod to further your ambition, you now will happily sleep with Villar to obtain MORE! I hope Cynthia scratches your hypocritical face!

(And you now gradiosely say that you have a “vision” for the country? Of course, the same vision you had that to get to where you got to on TV, you slept with every Tom Dick and Harry of the broadcasting industry…)

I like what Jamby said :”Manny talks but money talks louder”. Baka may kasamang envelope ang pagpirma ng 12.

That is what i do not like of Pimentel as well, parang tumatandang paurong din. Instead of letting the truth comes out, he is lawyering for Manny who did not bother to answer charges against him in the senate. And what do these 12 think of their colleague Jamby who is pursuing the c5 issue? Is she a non entity, where is their respect for her?

Legarda is best to be written off. I used to like her, but she is a real shame this time.

As I stated before..I do not see positive changes for our country once the NP-NPC wins the election under Villar-Legarda leadership for obvious reasons (i.e. same situation like before or even worst).

    To think about it…

Most of these “senatoriables” are young and yet are wasting their opportunity to make a difference to the lives of many and the nation as a whole. If they cannot follow simple rule of the senate, the very house they represent, if they themselves cannot see the difference between right and wrong or have some decency or self-respect, what more can the people expect?

I can now say that these people grew up (to include the few that has been there) don’t fully grasp or understand the roles that was only entrusted to them…worst, what it means to be a Filipino…to me, this is a national tragedy!!

  18. tru blue tru blue

To the very few good ones running for any elective office; it’s kinda difficult to soar with Eagles when you’re flying with lots of Turkeys!! Jinggoy, Recto, Drillon, Revilla, Sotto, backstabber Enrile, Sicko Willie, Joey DV (said he would like to help the poor!?! What!!), Loren VP, Kiko, Pia C. Regardless of what you all say; I like Meriam to be in the senate – we need someone there to bluff and humihiyaw-hiyaw unlike da retired marine general Biazon, meek and machonurin din.

  19. ’tis one good reason why i call these politicians as Totally Useless Invertebrates.

Come to think of it – not any one of them have contributed to our development. Not their kind.

We can still survive without them, i’m sure.

  20. parasabayan parasabayan

I really would like Jamby Madrigal to run for the presidency. Baka nga naman magbago ang Pilipinas. It is very easy to be critics when we are not wearing the shoes of these public servants. What I would really like to see is a genuine turning point for all Filipinos. We seem to always blame everything to the government but we can not see our own shortcomings. Government is not the answer to all our woes. I do not even think that any of these politicians can help our country get out from the indebtedness caused by the never ending corruption.

I hear a lot of bad things about almost every politician. It is easier to think of their negative qualities than it is to think about what they can do for their country. The “crab” mentality seem to be our way of life. Whoever wins this election will always be a minority president. If he gets a vote of 11 million, there will be over 30 million who will be bitching and moaning. We never seem to appreciate anyone in power. It is a sad state of our country.

Yet we still bitch and complain. We keep blaming the government for what we have become. Siguro, for a change why don’t we look at ourselves and do the best we can to elect the public servants who are genuinely selfless to serve the people., We have gut feelings. Let us use that!

She said then that Villar’s statements smacked of gangsterism. “If this would be the system (money politics), then we are no different from a gang. Whoever has the money, dictates. No one can question his leadership…,” Legarda reacting to Villar who once quoted that “he who has the gold, rules”.

So Legarda is a gang member now? Wow, welcome to the club madam.

  26. Mike Mike

Jamby for President? She has made quite a statement against Villar, but she running for president just because she said “”Manny talks but money talks louder”??? No way!!! Heard some unpleasant things about her French hubby, and to think he is going to be the First Gentleman (part 2) if she becomes president. Yikes!!!!

There are a lot of better quotes coming from members of Ellensville community than Jamby’s as far as I’m concerned.

She looked, sounded and felt more natural as a broadcaster. As a politician, this entry’s title says it all. Parang pati boses niya nilagyan ng make-up to make it sound more appealing.

I know now why she loves climate change. She will always change to the climate that is favorable to her,”

“Ako’y naaawa sa bayan. Sabi niya she will pray for me. I am also praying for her because I pity her na bawat ihip ng hangin tatalon na lang siya o sasampa siya,”

  40. I used to have deep reservations about Jamby Madrigal because I heard she was arrogant and bitchy to those whose station in life is lower than her.

I then met her in Manila at a dinner party held by a friend in my honour and we met again and had further email contacts. Found her on those occasions to be quite down to earth. She seemed and sounded genuinely concerned for the country. She was specific about her likes and dislikes, eg., corrupt politicians. (We have one point in common — we love France, antiques and history and if she’s speaking the truth, a profound disdain for corrupt politicians.)

Although I cannot profess knowing her a great deal at all so far, I think she’s been alright. For one thing, she seems to be holding herself pretty well against Senate bullies and to me that’s more than good enough. For another, she’s an enemy of Gloria and boy, that’s great bonus.

If she has the courage of her conviction, the moral fortitude to resist temptations to go politically whoring like Villar and Legarda, then I will give her every benefit of the doubt, i.e., that she’s can be one heck of a politician, so never mind the melodrama about her that we read in the papers.

We need fighter politicians, combat ready against corruption in this country and I’d like to see more of her, see if she is truly of the stern stuff variety.
